some of the gayest things i did w my girl besties as a kid that haunt me daily even though i'm almost 25
laying on the hot cement of the playground watching the clouds, talking about which boys we'd date in class, and i look over at her and notice how the sun is turning her black hair slightly red in the sun and sigh and say "i wish i were a boy, 'cause then i'd date you"
made a new best friend a little after her who was a year younger than me and i wanted to live inside her skin, a little bit, and went over to her house constantly. i drew her silly art, those weird emo blobs from the mid aughts, and she hung it up on her door. we joked about being married a lot. when i had to move away across the country, one night i was staring up at the moon while listening to a love song and started sobbing wondering if she was also looking at the moon. i never texted her again.
when i was 12 i fell in love with a girl for the first time i knew about. i had just gotten over being weirded out by gay people & when the kids in class started whispering about us being dykes, my teacher called home about it. i cried my eyes out in a red pickup truck with my mom as i told her i was in love with her, but it was fine because she was straight. i was drinking a red slushie.
once with that same girl, we went on a field trip to a nearby science museum. it was within walking distance and she held my hand the whole way, even though we were too old for it. at some point i started swinging her hand and knocking into her and laughing and eventually she just picked me up, put me on her back, and carried me the rest of the way while we laughed. at the museum, she kept finding me and holding my hand again. i went home that night, so giddy, and just kept thinking about her hand in mine and didn't even care about what the rest of the kids were whispering
in february, before that, she'd asked me which girl i had a crush on in class because i'd posted about it on tumblr. it took me a half hour to finally tell her it was her, blushing to my ears as we walked around the perimeter of the playground (we were at a small private school with less than 100 students, so even the middle schoolers got to use the playground), refusing to look at her. she told me she didn't feel like that, but i was still her best friend and she wasn't mad at me or weirded out. if one of us were boys, she said, maybe it would've worked out. her mom moved her back to california at the end of the school year. i never saw her again and she wasn't allowed to talk to me. she messaged me once, years later on here, to tell me i was pretty in a prom dress i'd tried on. she blocked me later.
i wrote down a story about her, a year later, for 8th grade english class. in it, i imagined that she'd never left, and that she'd kissed me while we laid in the grass, mixing up my stories and my life. my teacher looked at me with such a soft sadness and told me it was very beautifully written. she wanted me to submit it to a contest. it won.
#this turned a lil poetic/prosey so u can reblog if u want#ACHING TODAY I GUESS????#i'm still a little in love with them all in the way that they live in my heart as a part of my story#the first girl is married now to a man#the second girl i'm not sure but i think i saw her last year bc she goes to college one town over#and the last girl.... last i knew she's still in california and she's a republican lmfao#ALSO THE LOVE SONG W THE SECOND GIRL WAS THIS BOY LMFAOOO if that sets the scene for anyone

Oh and before anyone comes at me saying “you are silencing her” or whatever the hell you like to tell yourself, here’s what I think:
«Taking down baseless, unproven allegations on TikTok/YT isn’t about “silencing victims”... it’s about protecting individuals from the chaos of mob mentality and the very real consequences of unfounded accusations. Posting allegations online, without evidence or due process, turns justice into a popularity contest where public opinion becomes more powerful than the truth. This irresponsible behavior doesn't just harm the accused but fuels online harassment, character assassination, and irreversible damage to reputations. […] People’s lives, careers, and mental health can be severely impacted based on speculation alone. Liam got so much online bullying and harassment. […] It’s reckless to call for public judgment when the facts haven’t been examined in any structured, legitimate way. Sending a C&D letter to silence him… then asking why he won't speak? Really? I call that manipulation at the finest. Demanding that she take down the videos is not about “silencing” anyone; it’s about ensuring that the truth isn’t drowned out by hearsay. When unproven allegations take center stage, it sends a message that public accusations hold more weight than justice itself. And are we ok with that? NO! Victims deserve to be heard, but in a way that’s responsible, FAIR (so two sides are heard not just one), and legally sound». (via X).
#without any risks of exaggeration#she is the most vile person in this story#and it’s not even about the allegations#it’s her stupid american way of always making everything sensational#for clicks and likes and popularity#she chose tiktok to talk because 1. it’s literally her level of brain development target#she knew she would have found a fertile ground there#to spread ‘gossip’ and ‘spill tea’ about One Direction first#(and obviously nasty lies but that’s for another day)#and she knew that would have been easy to find support if she started fire of hate against Liam#everything she said has been dismantled btw#everything people were accusing Liam for and hate liam for and call liam an abuser for#was never specifically said because she knew#she couldn’t go that route#she needed just to feed the masses DOUBTS about him and his behaviour#she just needed doubts and people got the bait as they always do#her family is nasty#her grandad is in jail#her father is an influential lawyer#probably republicans filthy rich#i hope she stays away for a very long time#cause once she’s back there’s no room for bullies#i hope she doesn’t rest at night btw#whatever happened to Liam#she is as responsible as the next person#if not more#for all the hate she sent his way when he was already down#fuck you Maya Henry

Going to hazard it's not a great sign for your obvious party nominee when a substantially non-zero portion of your own party's voters come out to make a point of informing everyone that they are not voting for you, even if they have done so multiple times previously, and pledge to support the incumbent president of the opposite party if/when you win the nomination.
#hilary for ts#politics for ts#we literally knew from the jump that trump would be the nominee#that’s not a surprise#what strikes me from IA and now NH is that there *are* a minority (but not insignificant amount) of republican voters who Are Not Doing It#which... etc etc republicans usually rally around the standard#but also the haley voters seem pretty determined they're not going back to trump#88% of NH haley voters would not support trump being the nominee#now look haley sucks#but she sucks in an establishment republican way#and not a trump way#so it does seem empirically inarguable that trump has in fact gone too far for plenty of core GOP voters#and that winning the ever dwindling amount of cult votes (as expected) will not help in the GE#meanwhile biden cruised to victory despite not even being on the ballot#can we get rid of dean phillips now lol#anyway etc etc tea leaves but i think it is interesting this has happened twice in a row#trump is bitterly toxic to everyone who is not still a devoted cultist#and they seem ready to stand behind this#which i will cautiously optimistically bode as a good sign for november#we will see

An open letter to right-wing Tumblr
Nobody owes you a debate. Their refusal to interact with you isn't an attack on your free speech. Rights exist in the third-person perspective in ways just as solid and just as established as in when they are expressed in the first-.
What makes your right to say whatever you want without government penalty for having done so (except in a few, well-established, well-defined precedents that any reasonable citizen would agree with) any more sacrosanct than my right to exercise free assembly to say "fuck you, fuck this, I got a better life to live than to spend it listening to the same horseshit being argued over and over again?"
The court of public opinion holds a lower standard because it's ultimately the lowest stakes in anything we have the gall to call 'justice' in this nation-- every case is presented to every individual juror who sorted out their findings based on what they had available to them, and judged them one way or the other. Sometimes the cases reach conclusions like (as an example), "the right is more bent out of shape about trans people while also being really fuckin unwilling to do anything about the chimos operating within their own ranks" and found a reasonable consequence for that finding to refuse to consider conservatives in any other relationship besides adversarial.
If you don't like that, either present better info or find better beliefs. Nobody will hate you for changing your mind, everybody does it. It's okay to admit mistakes, and it actually shows a degree of maturity to accept that and take accountability for them.
(and before you try; fuckin don't. Democrats are just as fucking terrible-- y'all don't think Palestine is being raped hard enough while liberals try to tell everybody a little of it is necessary. Harris lost more than Trump won. Their best idea to run against a brain-damaged rapist was to find a brain-damaged rapist of their own and then bury #MeToo because sometimes presidential candidates are allowed little a rape, as a treat. Don't explain to me how democrats are bad, too, motherfucker, I actually chaired for the shiftless pieces of shit. the point is to be better than the other assholes, not to be even bigger assholes. They keep trying to muscle in on your brand and y'all keep sliding right in response. The matter of Epstein's death matter less than the idea that several powerful people availed themselves to his hospitality and nothing will ever be done about that because Republicans and Democrats both were involved. The majority of CSA cases are by people who the victim knew and trusted but y'all wanna tell everybody you think is too ugly to shit in a public restroom that you know better-- considering how much nuance Jim Bob Duggar found about child molestation when the world discovered he raised his own flesh and blood to be a serial toucher, are y'all just oblivious or trying to smokescreen your own predation? Half of y'all get real bent outta shape about age of consent laws for some reason)
The fact that you feel it in cumulative is on your own fuckin heads, assholes. You don't blame the people for the idea of messages spreading farther, wider, and faster than the time it took you to think not at all about it before you pressed 'post' any more the Democrats can try to blame voters for not supporting someone more unpopular in 2020 than a sociopathic racist CIA Blacksite dickhead (the rat-faced fuck) who tried to force the most cringe-worthy fucking meme of the election cycle before Hillary Clinton's fight song horseshit (no, seriously, look up the high hopes dance and tell me that ain't fuckin pathetic).
I would say better politics start with you, but taking the law of averages and the current state of the Overton window in American politics into consideration, some of you won't make your best contribution to American politics until you leave this world.
#politics#american politics#political commentary#unsolicited opinions#fuck trump#fuck harris#fuck democrats#fuck republicans#hot take comin through#matt gaetz as a.g. is like making josh duggar sec of education#i get why social isolation is a thing#MeToo#patriarchy#rape culture#i have given up#all i can do is what i am doing already#if i knew what i was doing it would be done by now#but the thing is#its the exact same shit that you are doing#but i am acting on the information i have before me#media literacy#media criticism#transgender#trans rights#trans rights are human rights#lgbtqia#aces and enbies too#lmao pete buttigieg really told the world and his husband he would take a pill to be straight

ACT.TV (Aug. 21, 2020): #TheyKnew who Trump Really Was All Along. Conservatives in their own words.
All These Conservatives Knew Who Trump Really Was All Along: Lindsey Graham, Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, Nikki Haley, Kellyanne Conway, Mike Pompeo, Glenn Beck, Rick Perry, Susan Collins THEY CALLED HIM THESE THINGS... liar, narcissist, race baiting, xenophobic, religious bigot, mean spiritedness, con artist, orange faced windbag, kook, unfit for office, AND MORE...
I thought I would repost this old video as a reminder that most prominent Republicans have KNOWN for years that Trump is corrupt.
Despite what they have known about Trump, now that Trump has been indicted by the DOJ, once again many prominent Republicans are choosing to defend Trump and to mislead Americans about the righteousness of the DOJ classified documents case against him.
This hypocritical GOP defense of Trump is particularly galling given the reality that:
If enough Republicans had voted to convict Trump during at least one of his impeachment trials, we as a nation would have been rid of him.
Consequently, it is the hypocritical, power-hungry, corrupt Republican Party that is to blame for Trump's continued destructive influence on our nation.
And THEY will be to blame if we have to suffer through another four years of Trump in the White House.

love watching all the neolibs say "uhm ummmm actually conscientious abstention from voting makes it clear that you just see voting as an opportunity to virtue signal (as opposed to an opportunity to affect change) and that makes YOU the neoliberal!!!!" like yeah man sure. and if we all join hands the symbols on our bellies will light up and we'll defeat the evil forces with the power of care bear magic
#speak friend and enter#they're just politically conscious enough to know that 'neoliberal' is a bad thing to be so they throw it around like a playground insult#like buddy the popular vote doesnt pick the president anyway. i thought you knew that. we learned that in 7th grade. were you sick that day#and not to mention that the democratic candidate wasnt even nominated democratically.#biden just waited until he knew she could score the nomination without having to go thru a primary. cause they both knew she'd lose#but no yeah of course it can only be the republicans that do stuff like that. because red bad blue good. where have i heard that before

sometimes i remember the hunger games and how nobody actually paid attention to what was in those books
#americans close your eyes and ears right now#i'm well aware that my political takes are way too spicy for you all#and i really do wish my media diet didn't contain so much us-centric shit#but alas we're all suffering here#and i could say that 'oh actually it does matter who your president is for us in the world'#but it doesn't. it really fucking doesn't. that's kind of the point.#oh i'm sorry my spicy takes are already starting#anyway it is wild that you all can understand katniss assassinating coin at the end of mockingjay#but get super upsetty that chappell roan won't support your favorite presidential candidate with her full chest#like come on none of you actually thought that her using the phrase both sides meant that she was a republican or even a centrist#that's just copium#you all knew exactly what she meant#but i guess encouraging people to think critically and get involved with their local elections and politics as well is... bad now?#also... why do you all care so much about a random pop star's opinion and whether or not she dares to criticize a government#like... she's right but i'm sure 5 years from now if she survives in the limelight her edges will be completely chipped away#by all this insane reaction#and before anyone comes for me... no i'm not saying you shouldn't vote. please fucking do.#neither am i saying you shouldn't vote strategically or encourage other people to do so#but if all your energy is spent policing people who criticize your chosen party because of their own principles#then there's something seriously wrong with your politics#and all you're signalling is that you truly do not fucking care about the issues that they care about#if anything..... you RESENT them#and then the same people bring up the parable of the 'unjust man'#or how it's never the right time to talk about gun violence in your country#harm reduction is all good and based but attacking people who are leveraging their support to push your party left#is not. it's not even fucking helpful#anyway. don't base your lives and politics around pop stars.#even if they are more based than you 🤷#i think i'm done now thank you tumblr for letting me have insane rants in my tags that hopefully no one reads#idk i just find this all depressing. i wish you all cared more about the world outside of your bubble. i wish we all did - myself included.

SCREAM just saw someone say that castiel deciding to protect Kelly and her future angel baby in s12 was their favourite turn in his story, because it was 'the first time he made a choice out of himself, without being blinded by heaven or by the winchesters' morals' SCREAM
#I mean where to start!!#1. cas makes plenty of choices all by himself not all of them can be shoved onto the winchesters as their fault#2. if ever the winchesters' morality did influence his decision-making there's a high chance it was for the better#and actually would have allowed him to see the situation more clearly cough cough season 4!#3. cas is not making a choice out of himself in the storyline you describe! he went over there to kill kelly's baby#and he didn't have a change of heart- his mind was influenced by an in utero jack to protect him just like with kelly!#bonkers to say that castiel's *real* and *true* family should've been him kelly and jack...#the fetus he was gonna eliminate and its probably brainwashed republican politician mother whom he knew for perhaps a month#I'm not angry btw I'm flabbergasted though

Just occurred to me that "weird" is the left's comeback to the right's "woke," probably going to get overused until it's meaningless too but it is fun to watch an entire political party melt down over it
#woke never really stung anybody on the left because the right never even knew what it meant#pretty shitty that they've managed to misappropriate it so dramatically though#in the whole “republicans are weird” discourse i'd like to see more focus on policy and less about the candidates as people#like trump and vance are definitely weird but at least in trump's case that's a part of his appeal#what actually makes republicans weird is shit like calling their wives mother and policing women and kids' health
