ok, so I didn't expect to have to make something like this, especially not for this.
But my incredible partner @a-sentient-cup is being kicked out of their home, and they are currently unemployed and have not been able to find a new job despite their best efforts for around a year.
This means that if we don't get help(because I also have no money due to on social benefits due to my really bad mental disabilties) they will become hopeless.
So we've set up a gofundme to help Cuppy move to Denmark where they can also get proper help for their own disabilties.
Please if you can, help us out. And if not, please share

Re: Sweden, Norway, and Denmark's Japanese dialects in Hetalia (and potential implications to their characterization) (with briefer notes about Fin and Ice)
Thanks to @nordickies for being the spark that lit the fire to write this post. This information also personally has informed some of my personal takes on the Nordic 5 for over a decade now, so I hope it is useful. A lot of this was more common knowledge back in the livejournal days of the fandom.
Disclaimer: my Japanese is limited and by no means do I claim to fully understand all of the cultural complexities surrounding this topic. I will try, where I can, to back up my claims with at least somewhat credible sources especially since I am someone who is not Japanese in origin either ethnically or culturally, however I DO know more than the average person would because I have lived in Japan, was exposed from my practical birth to the culture and language waaay more than is typical due to me living overseas, and I have studied the language on an elementary level in several academic settings. I am by no means an expert (I am a wildlife biologist by trade), but all of this is done in good faith, and if you do know more than me (especially since I am limited in my ability to get access to academic texts right now — nor am I going far out of my way to find those, as this is a meta post about Hetalia of all things and I am not going to do a whole giant thesis about this for one post), feel free to correct me and/or send me further resources, as I want to convey as accurate of information I can as possible. Part of my motivation for making this post was to spur conversation and hopefully have others who know more than me contribute to the ongoing conversation, to which, I encourage those who read this post to check the notes for any further updates. Another note that I also do not originate from a Nordic country, so there may also be additional layers people from those countries may be able to add. Thanks! Let's begin.
*********************************************************** Like several characters in Hetalia, the Viking Trio speak in unique Japanese dialects that further make them distinct and characterize them in Japanese. Sweden speaks in a Touhoku dialect, Norway in the Tsugaru dialect (which is a specific type of Touhoku dialect), and Denmark speaks in Ibaraki dialect. The Ibaraki dialect is sometimes seen as belonging to the Touhoku dialect group or the Kantou dialect group, and the classification is debated. Generally, Touhoku accents are characterized by slow speech, the slurring of words together, and the muttering of words — as well as being associated with rural country folk (Kumagi 2011, direct PDF download). This dialect is often translated into English as a redneck/hick accent and drawling speech — and as those who speak it are often characterized or stereotyped as unintelligent folks from out in the sticks. Kumagi cites Inoue (1977) as saying that Touhoku dialects are "degraded at the bottom in the Japanese language" scoring low on "intelligence and emotion-related associations." One American English rough equivalent (not localized, but in terms of reputation in U.S. culture) by my best estimations would likely be Appalachian dialects, which are also stereotypically characterized as being a hillbilly, unintelligent, and rural accent also featuring drawled speech and often truncated speech (source). Like many Touhoku dialect speakers in Japan, Appalachian dialect speakers often hide, mask, or reduce their accent, especially if they relocate someplace outside Appalachia, in order to seem more credible to others, as it is generally seen as an “inferior” dialect of American English in the wider culture (personal/family lived experience, but also a good radio piece on it here). The other way Touhoku dialects are translated in media are as Upper Midwest or Northern Plains dialects of American English (not the most credible source, but a lot that is on here that I can confirm to be correct). This characterization is likely a more accurate candidate for the Nordics (and may be why Hima chose this dialect group for them), as many immigrants from Nordic countries settled in the Upper Midwest/Northern Plains (source, personal experience living in this region for a lot of my life). Touhoku dialects are also a more northern dialect group, which geographically coincides with the Nordics being, well, northerners!
Tumblr media
(Map of Touhoku dialects regionally) I have not been able to find any information re: if Sweden speaks any particular type of Touhoku dialect (or if it is more broad), but I will talk a bit about how his speech was transliterated in early scanlations before moving on to the other two. Because of how slurred/more truncated/less intelligible Touhoku accents generally are (and remember, Den/Nor/Ice did not make their appearance until well after Swe/Fin did!), likely early translators decided to chop off letters/make Sweden's speech seem less intelligible in order to convey that to readers. Unlike Norway and Denmark, Sweden also often speaks in shorter sentences/phrases in Japanese, and given that Finland canonically says "it's just hard to communicate with him" (see Running Away with Mr. Sve) that is also likely why early Hetalia scanlators before official translations of the comics were available (note: god this is making me feel old as hell) made the decision to give him the speech patterns that they did, and that ended up spreading through the fandom. When the other Nordics with their regional dialects dropped, given how Sweden’s vocal trait got translated into English and then fandom ran with it to varying degrees of intelligibility, I think the decision was made to not translate Norway the same way to cause less trouble in fanworks, while the Ibaraki dialect did influence how Denmark was translated (more on that below.
Tumblr media
Norway speaks in a very particular Touhoku-family dialect within the series that is generally not well-reflected outside of the source material at all. The Tsugaru dialect is spoken in the northwest part of the country, specifically in the western part of Aomori Prefecture — Tsugaru dialect is a particularly unusual dialect, even by Japanese dialect standards, by being one of the most difficult dialects in Japan to understand (source). Even within Japan itself, people speaking this dialect often have to be subtitled on television for other Japanese audiences to understand, and there have been occasions where the dialect has been displayed on television to marvel at how strange and unintelligible it sounds to other Japanese speakers. Sometimes speakers of this dialect have been characterized (or mischaracterized for comedic effect) as French in Japanese because the odd sound and unintelligability of the dialect (source). Kumagi (2011) also states that "[...] within the Tohoku [alternate transliteration of Touhoku] dialects, Aomori [prefecture in which Tsugaru is spoken] dialect is at the bottom [of the hierarchy]," meaning that even among the already disrespected Touhoku dialects, Tsugaru belongs to the worst of the bunch in terms of reputability and respectability in Japanese perceptions. The Tsugaru dialect is a source of fascination, comedy, and disrepute/low standing all at the same time. While we don’t know why Hima selected Norway to have this dialect, I have a few proposals. First, this gives him a similar flavor to the other members of the Viking Trio while keeping him distinct — while Ibaraki is a more southern dialect geographically (for the region), Tsugaru is spoken both more north and more west than it. So if you map their dialects out on a map, their geographical location to each other also somewhat resembles their actual locations as nations to each other in the Nordics! Which is neat!
Tumblr media
Second, Hima characterizes Norway has being slightly otherworldly and unusual largely due to his fairy-friends and such. But I also think that he likely chose Tsugaru for him not only because that makes him seem like he’s out of this world, but also because Japan is kind of fascinated by that dialect in particular despite not holding it in high regards by it too — sure, it is a hick accent, but it is an interesting hick accent. I think the fact that Japanese speakers sometimes liken the dialect to French is interesting specifically because of how Japanese people often view the French — French culture something that is often romanticized and idealized, and given how Tsugaru dialect can sound French-ish to Japanese speakers, that may be why Norway is kind of designed as the “pretty boy” of the trio by the fandom? In the same way that “Paris Syndrome” is a thing, where Japanese who go to France are often shocked at how their idealized version of France does not live up to the realities of the country (trust me it's real there is a wikipedia page lol), I think you can argue that in-universe Norway can be seen in a lot of different ways depending on the preconceived notions of how you view the dialect. If you view it as French-like and think it sounds interesting, you may find it alluring/beautiful. If you think it is crass, you'll look at it with disdain and disgust. If you think it just sounds silly and stupid, it is. If you think it is nostalgic (as Kumagi states that this is the only positive association this dialect has) and has a close association with nature/pastoral life because of that, it is. I think Norway in canon is characterized on all four of those axioms at the same time (if you really wanna pull canon receipts I will at another time) which makes this make a lot of sense to me as to why that dialect was chosen for him. Third, I think that given Norway was largely the worst off of the three kingdoms for most of history, it makes sense to give him the worst accent in terms of reputation/status out of all of them, too. Note: specifically, re: how Norway uses "brother" in Japanese is also interesting when referring to Denmark. What he is saying is "anko" (あんこ), which literally means "young man/eldest son" directly translated and is specifically only used to mean that in northern Japanese dialects. A good way to put it is it is like people in the U.S. use "bro" as a catch-all term for a similar-aged guy you are trying to get the attention of kind of informally, in the same way you can say "nii-san" to both mean "older brother" and also "guy who seems older than me I am addressing informally" I guess?? Funnily enough, which I didn't know until researching shit, it apparently also means bottom (homosexual) in prison slang??? Which may or may not be intentional I guess on Hima's part, and could also influence your characterization of Norway as a result. Finally we move on to Denmark. The Ibaraki dialect is characterized by number of things, but for our purposes I think that the two most important traits are the general lack of polite speech and the slightly faster rate of speech (unfortunately, my only written sources I can point to are wikipedia and TV tropes again, but I have heard this orally from someone a long time ago - I looked for more credible sources but couldn't find any easily). Because of it being debated as to whether or not is a true Touhoku dialect or if it is actually a Kantou (more southern/eastern) dialect, I think you can also argue that makes sense given Denmark is kind of the "gateway" into the heart of Europe geographically. People have generally translated this as him being excitable and more casual in the way he communicates to other people. I have been able to find less resources on this particular dialect and how it is perceived culturally, so I will sadly have to leave it at that, but from my understanding he is generally translated appropriately in the manga from what I have seen, with the -in' instead of -ing and ya instead of you to have it seem more relaxed/familiar/casual.
Tumblr media
Final notes on Finland and Iceland: I cannot confirm this personally, but from what I can hear from Finland, it sounds like he speaks pretty standard Japanese to me, but take that with a grain of salt since I am not the expert here. Which, dialect-wise, places him as the odd person out (which fits with Finnish being the linguistic outgroup of the five) and also puts him as the relatable “stand in” for Japanese people learning about the Nordics — reminder he is the one who introduces them all in that one comic (see The Nordic 5+a) and even earlier comics (see Running Away with Mr. Sve), and we’re viewing the Nordics from largely his perspective). Since Finland in this series is largely characterized (and often deemed a poor stereotype by Finns) because of the Japanese perspective on Finland/Finns, it makes a lot of sense Hima used him kind of as a self-insert for Japanese readers/viewers to understand the Nordics from, as of the Nordic nations, Japanese folks are likely going to have the strongest familiarity/connection to Finland because of the Moomins. Please take the following information about Iceland with heaping grains of salt, but from a memory, I believe he also speaks the Tsugaru dialect, at least some of the time???? This makes sense he shares the Tsugaru dialect with Norway, as he’s Norway’s in-canon sibling, but I have a vague memory of a meta post I cannot 100% confirm or deny exists re: him only speaking the dialect/the dialect coming out more when he’s alone?? This following is speculation since I cannot confirm/deny that right now with my current abilities, but if it is true, would also be an interesting level to his character and make sense — it puts further distance between him and Norway if he purpsefully doesn’t speak the same way as his brother when his brother is present, and it also is reminiscent of my own experience living with people with discriminated accents who then mask their “less desirable” dialects in their teens/20s so they don’t get discriminated against as they move up in the world. Kumagi (2011) states that "Therefore, young female native speakers of Tohoku [alternate transliteration] dialects feel ashamed of their dialects and hesitate to speak them in big cities such as Tokyo. They are made to feel inferiority complex about their dialects, which are stigmatized as unfeminine". Since Iceland is very much characterized as a teen in canon, I think that this makes sense to do in the broader context of Hima’s choices. The specific reason as to why I state that I believe he speaks Tsugaru some of the time but not always is because there are some panels he speaks without it and some where he does seem to have an accent (HWS Chapter 112, relevant screencap below, this is the only time he speaks like this from what I can find in scanlations/translations, but it has to be a deliberate choice). Would love more info on this from someone who knows more about Japanese than I can do.
Tumblr media
Again, please check the original post and/or notes for any future additions that I will add/edit accordingly (with notes as to where/when that happened) if any other relevant information surfaces, but I hope that was at least a little informative and interesting to read. I consulted a bunch of other resources too (read a bunch of papers I could find online), but a lot of those I read several months ago and no longer can find :x otherwise I would list them here.
Let me know if there are any typos/things are unclear, b/c holy shit this took a lot more effort and time for me to write up than I thought it was going to, and I am too tired to proofread it after spending several days on it. X_X

How would the new structures in 'Blacked Denmark' look for someone like you? And other indigenous Danes. It seems as though you predict a gender split there, how would that play out? Would young progressive women be leading the change. Would you be one of them? Nobody really wants to pay more tax, but the benefits of this Blacked culture and making up for past injustice is seen as 'worth it'? Would there be a place in the dominant Black political party for you? I assume positions of power are reserved for Black men there. But having happy, eager, attractive Danish women championing the cause is good propaganda. We all know the power of modern 'influencers'. We also know the power of social media to shame people who don't agree with modern, progressive politics. This could be used to lessen the complaints of some Danish men, and maybe even others would outwardly support the changes. Recognizing the women in their lives are happier and Black men are more deserving of power. Would you campaign, maybe with a new Black boyfriend? Donate some of your salary? Even after a political victory and changes in law keeping people happy with the new structures requires effort. Maybe even looking to export these new ideas to nearby countries.
(Follow-up to this post.)
Yes, there's going to be a gender split. And with good reason: The narrative of the Blackening or Africanization of Denmark gives a bigger role to white girls than to white guys. We get to be the ones that greet our new visitors with open arms and legs, while the guys get assigned the dull role of "standing aside".
Tumblr media
I like imagining myself in front, campaigning for progress.
As the busses with visitors start arriving, I am one of the young Danish girls greeting them, offering hand-knotted dandelion necklaces as welcome gifts.
I volunteer at the center where the visitors are briefly staying before a permanent living situation is established. A lot of Danes are being relocated from their homes to make room for the influx of Black men.
I fall for a Black man a couple of years my senior, a gentle soul hidden by a tough exterior. My white boyfriend handles the breakup well. A lot of Danish girls are leaving their boyfriends in those days.
When we make love I feel like the great racial scars left by history may one day finally heal.
The Racial Justice Party appears, and together with my new Black lover I help canvas for the signatures required for the new party to appear on the ballot. Seeing a smiling white girl extending a clipboard with signatures puts a lot of Danish voters at ease regarding the intentions of the Black Power-supporting party.
Tumblr media
In the run-up to the election I help campaign for the party, donating part of my heavily-Reparations-taxed salary to the campain coffers.
I take time off from walk to help cold-call potential voters, canvas progressive neigborhoods, and help make lunch in the campaign office. All us white girls on the campaign are performing menial duties while the Black men are the ones giving speeches about change and justice.
On election night, I barely hear the results. My heels are pointed at the ceiling while my Black lover is on top of me, conquering Denmark all over again.

i see you still not sure about princesse and talia having kids their own so here some idea/opinion from me.
what about at early their relationship they both agree that they don't have desired to have children and the pets is their children.
but after years talia seeing their teammates having children it's make her want at least one for her and princesse which they talk a lot (princesse disagree for couple months) but than they agree to try have child after talia retired (which is hint why they having children a bit late).
princesse end up agreeing because she love talia and talia have full rights over talia own body (she soon learn that the best decision she ever made).
but princesse also requested for their child to grow up at denmark (that's why both princesse and talia became denmark coaches).
I think if they do have kids, Talia definitely carries.
She retires first and they spend the rest of Princesse's career in Germany together. The kid they have would probably be born around this period so would be raised in Germany at least for a little bit before Princesse finally retires and they relocate to Denmark to coach and live.
Talia and Princesse would be girl mums with a kid that grows up speaking a mish-mash of Spanish and Danish but definitely inherits Princesse language abilities.

NATO’s E-3 Sentry AWACS are Now Operating from Norway’s Rygge Air Base
The AWACS, described as NATO’s ‘eyes in the skies’, usually employed Ørland as forward base, however this time it was decided to deploy the aircraft to Rygge, with at least two E-3s already operating from there.
Parth Satam

The Norwegian military announced last week that its Rygge air base, in the southern part of the country, will begin frequently hosting NATO’s E-3 Sentry AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control System) aircraft. This is owing to the unavailability of the runway at Ørland in western Norway, which led to Rygge being chosen, the statement from the Norwegian Armed Forces said on Aug. 22, 2024.
Interestingly, the notice came a day prior to the threat alert at the NATO air base in Geilenkirchen, in far-western Germany, on Aug. 23, which saw personnel being evacuated until the alert was deactivated. The base is home to the NAEW&CF (NATO Airborne Early Warning and Control Force) E-3A Component.
Subsequent reports by German media said that the alert was owing to indications of “preparatory actions for a likely Russian act of sabotage,” although a NATO spokesperson later denied. “The word Russia was never mentioned,” said the spokesperson to Reuters. “We talked about a threat caused by drones.”
E-3s from the NAEW&CF had already operated from Rygge during the Nordic Response 2024 exercise, held from Feb. 26 to Mar. 15. Flight tracking data three days after the announcement, on Aug. 25, also showed an E-3 Sentry (callsign NATO40) operating between Rygge and Denmark over the North Sea. Again on Aug. 28 and Aug. 29, two E-3s (callsigns NATO01 and NATO06) were circling the length from northern Norway over the Norwegian Sea to northern Germany in two separate routes, operating from Rygge.
Tumblr media
Nordic Response was the name given to the Norwegian military’s annual Cold Response series of maneuvers, after it was expanded to include Finland and Sweden, following their accession to NATO. Nordic Response itself was a part of the broader Steadfast Defender exercise.
‘E-3s to become a Common Sight at Rygge’
According to the statement by the Norwegian Armed Forces, “Several aircraft of the type E-3A AWACS will operate from Rygge air station in the coming weeks.” Usually, the AWACS are “periodically stationed at Ørland air station, as a forward base for NATO.” The decision to relocate them to Rygge is owing to unavailability of the runway at Ørland for AWACS operations, said the press release without providing details.
“From their main base in Germany, the E-3 aircraft “are regularly seen over and in Norway for shorter missions, where they exercise and train together with allied and Norwegian military forces.” Ørland Air Station meanwhile is the RNoAF’s (Royal Norwegian Air Force) main F-35 base, which is expected to receive all its Lightning IIs by 2025.

“Our role is to facilitate and support AWACS operations from Rygge air station. We are well prepared for the mission, and look forward to receiving both aircraft, personnel and equipment,” said Colonel Thomas Orud Harlem, commander of 134 Air Wing, in the press release. The Wing has a helicopter unit that operates the Bell 412, besides being home to Air Force Training and Air Force Operations Inspectorates.
Nordic Response 2024
As mentioned before, NATO E-3As last operated from Rygge during the Nordic Response exercise between February and March this year. NATO said that at Rygge, during the drills, the participating countries operated two E-3A AWACS planes.
“The E-3A aircraft is often referred to as NATO’s ‘eyes in the skies’,” noted NATO’s press release. “This is due to its capability to detect air and sea movements hundreds of kilometers away. This data is shared with NATO commanders to provide them with a shared understanding of activities that take place in areas of particular concern.”
This year’s expanded version of the exercise saw the participation of over 20,000 soldiers from 13 allied nations. Of these, approximately 10,000 exercised on land and were the most visible during the exercise. The participating countries included Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
More than 100 fighter jets, transport aircraft, maritime surveillance aircraft, as well as allied CH-53 Super Stallion, EH-101 Merlin, AH-1 Cobra helicopters and V-22 Osprey tiltrotor participated. Nordic Response was also closely integrated with the British-led naval exercise Joint Warrior, which took place in the sea between Scotland, Norway, and Iceland in late February.
E-3 Sentry AWACS is NATO’s key asset
“The strategic role of the NATO Airborne Early Warning and Control Force cannot be overstated,” said Air Commodore Andrew Turk, NATO Airborne Early Warning and Control Force Chief of Staff and Deputy Commander. “We can showcase this in a large-scale, multi-domain scenario like Exercise Nordic Response 24, showing our determined ambition to dominate the airspace and defend the Alliance.”
The importance of such assets was also stated by Norway with the announcement of the deployment to Rygge. “The aircraft operates as a command and control unit in the air, has unique characteristics and can detect both sea, land and air movements from far away,” said the statement. “Together with other sources of information, they form a comprehensive aerial view for decision-makers.”
Nordic Response also came at a time when “for the first time, NATO is setting new defence plans into reality proving their executability and NATO’s warfighting transformation,” said an official statement. The transformation also includes the renewal of the AWACS fleet, which will be replaced by the newer E-7 Wedgetail.
Last year NATO decided to replace its fleet of 14 E-3A AWACS with six new E-7A, with the first one expected to be delivered by 2031. The Wedgetail will be part of the Alliance Future Surveillance and Control system of systems capability, which will also include space and maritime intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance assets, along with the already operational RQ-4 Alliance Ground Surveillance.

Catley will continue to rehabilitate following a lower leg injury sustained prior to arriving in Australia’s extended training camp last week.
Torpey sustained a lower leg injury and was placed on the unavailable list for San Diego Wave’s National Women’s Soccer League match against the Portland Thorns on 6 July.
Both players will remain with the squad in the extended training camp during their rehabilitation.
Defender Winonah Heatley has been called up as an additional training player for the July FIFA Women’s International Window. The 23-year-old enters the camp off the back of a strong season in Denmark.
The FC Nordsjælland captain helped her side to their first Elitedivisionen title, scoring a decisive goal in the final match of the season to clinch the league. Days later Heatley completed the double as FC Nordsjælland lifted the Danish Cup to claim a historic feat.
Following this match against Canada, Australia’s Olympic Squad – led by captain Steph Catley – will relocate to Marseille, France ahead of their opening match against Germany on 25 July 2024.

Today we remember those who died while serving in the armed forces. First celebrated in the years following the American Civil War Memorial Day became an official holiday in 1971.
This lithograph and sheet music represent only one piece of Memorial Day history. The history of Memorial Day, previously known as Decoration Day, can be traced back to Charleston, SC in 1865. In mid-1864, Confederate forces had converted a Charleston race track into a prison, to hold between 6,000 and 10,000 Union captives who had been evacuated from Georgia prisons. The captives suffered harsh conditions including starvation, disease, and the indignity of being paraded into town, where some Black Charlestonians would sneak pieces of bread to the captives, at risk of being punished for doing so. At least 257 Union soldiers died during their imprisonment there.
In autumn, under a worsening yellow fever outbreak, Confederate officials relocated the prison to Florence, SC, leaving behind the Union dead in unmarked graves.  Black Charlestonians worked to build a proper burial ground at the race course, and reconsecrate the soldiers’ graves. They then organized a memorial event held on May 1, 1865. An estimated 10,000 people attended the event which included processions, singing, speeches, and laying of flowers.
Learn more about the role of Black Charlestonians in the founding of Memorial Day in David W. Blight’s book “Race and Reunion: The Civil War in American Memory” and “Denmark Vesey’s garden: slavery and memory in the cradle of the Confederacy,” by Kytle and Roberts.
This TIME magazine article includes images of the race track and the burial ground from the Library of Congress. The event was covered by the “Charleston Daily Courier” on May 2, 1865 and by the “New York Tribune” on May 13, 1865.
While we are unaware of any primary sources within our Special Collections that document this event, we still wish to acknowledge and share this piece of American history that is continually ignored or erased.

cw: major shibuya arc spoiler / jjk s2 spoiler. nanami kento angst drabble. first time writing, and it's not checked. my interpretation might be wrong, so sorry if it's ooc or not align with the anime!
i was rewatching the hidden inventory arc when i realized something.
not "realized", actually, more like i remembered something. a teeny tiny detail of the jjk universe.
i've just remembered that all of the characters actually has parents (lol yea i know silly me i just remembered it after i reach that part where geto apparently slaughtered his parents)
but... then i was thinking. about nanami.
his maternal grandfather is danish, yes? now imagine this:
ever since nanami kento reaches his teenager years and got enrolled in jujutsu tech which makes him technically a sorcerer, his family especially his mother has already make plans to relocate them back to denmark. for a... better, and peaceful life, she says.
a life far from the dangers of curses lurking on nanami, and a life far from the constant fear that one day, nanami won't go back in one piece.
just a life where he can be... normal. a normal teenager, doing normal things like what teenage boys usually do. maybe he could have a silly crush, or perhaps he can experience having a girlfriend... maybe even take the girl he has interest at to the prom. having difficulties with his homeworks and exams, being confused as heck choosing what major will he take for college...
well, the last possibility might not count. he's still confused when he wants to continue his uni life when he's in jujutsu tech. but then, at that point, he already has so many worries and traumas other than what major he should choose. worries and trauma that no teenager should be experiencing.
...or maybe, just maybe, nanami can experience a more normal future, too. perhaps nanami can land on a normal occupation in a corporate and climb on the ranks, or he can even make a bakery, since he loves to eat and bake various baked goods (especially breads). get married with the woman he loves, have children. he wouldn't have to worry much about curses in denmark just like he did now in japan, right?
but it seems that nanami is not that willing to leave jujutsu tech and the sorcery world behind.
from every argument that raises whenever she asks nanami about to possibility to move to denmark, his mother realizes something about nanami's understanding towards sorcery and his life:
he sees sorcery as something that... isn't ideal, for sure, but like it or not he must compromise with it if he still wants to live his life fully.
it's like what some people say about having exceptional intelligence or much higher sensitivity towards emotion: it could be a blessing for some, but curse for another. only those who have it could fully understand about it and... only they could bear with such "burden". they can't really ask everyone to understand and bear it...
and with that, his parents just.. dropped the idea of going back to denmark.
like it or not, it's still nanami's life. he has every right to choose what he wants.
his parents can only hope and pray that whenever the doorbell rings, it's nanami that's ringing it, alive, well, and breathing, and not some bunch of people who wore that distinct dark uniforms with such gloomy face... itching to break the bad news.
so just imagine how his parents would be so, so devastated when they heard that nanami has met his end during the shibuya mission.
his deceased body- god, they can't even call it a body... all that remains were just the lower part of his body they can't even lift the white sheet and take a proper look at it-
...if only he did agree to move to denmark, lay low and continue his life... in a more normal manner.

It was great to hear about the elections in the new Blacked Denmark – and especially the excitement of election night. Since the new government is going to let in many more Black men, how will this fresh wave be welcomed into the new Blacked society? Take a Black man who has come to Denmark from Sudan – let’s call him Akuei. What will Akuei experience in the first few days after he crosses the Danish border which will make it clear to him that he is truly welcomed by both Danish men and women as a full and valued member of an anti-racist Danish society?
(Follow-up to this post.)
Akui arrives by ship at the harbor of Copenhagen, along with his fellow Sudanese travel companions. At the harbor he is greeted by an orchestra and by indigenous Danes waving Danish and Sudanese flags.
A smiling Danish girl with her blonde hair in thick braids places flowers around his neck and gives him a kiss on the cheek.
Akui is temporarily housed in a Welcoming Center, one of several hospitals recomissioned to handle the large influx of visitors. He is registered and issued a Danish passport, granting him lifetime Danish citizenship.
Many Danes volunteer at the center, both men and women. While male volunteers launder his clothes, female volunteers will serve him a warm meal and offer to give him a massage. Many Sudanese men sleep with their first Danish girl in those first few days.
When all the paperwork is done, Akiu is relocated to his permanent residence in one of the many new homes being built all over the country. He won't have to worry about paying rent, and a generous allowance - paid for by the Danish taxpayers - means that he won't have to worry about working either.
As he explores the picturesque village where he has been located, he sees several large signs in the street telling the indigenous Danes to welcome the new visitors, and to "hope for their forgiveness of the racism of our past".
