DCxDP: Amity Park aka uncanny Valley

Who ever thought that a family road trip across the country was ever a good idea? Especially when the family concerned is the Waynes!

...plus a Brown but you can't really talk Waynes without including Stephanie Brown

Bruce had a gala to attend in Chicago during the summer vacation Dick jumped at the opportunity to do a family road trip and try his newest car/van

was putting a Damian Wayne in an enclosed space with a Tim Drake a good idea? No. Was Dick going to argue with Bruce at least thrice a day? Maybe Will Jason be even remotely happy to be part of this trip? Probably not and will all the kids fight to choose who is in charge of the radio? Most definitely, but it'll be fun!

At first everything was awful,Bruce made them wake up terribly early, for once that Tim had slept that night! (albeit for only three hours which was plenty if you asked him) to leave even before the sun was up

Then it became alright, the eight seat car was spacy enough to not get into each other's personal space, everyone started to sing along to music and exchanging playlists

Dick had an awful amount of dico and 80's music, Bruce played his dad rock while Steph and Jason talked white girl music

They started their trip by going through Pennsylvania, taking pictures and joking on how Batman should be a local super hero there instead than in new Jersey,then they headed for Washington DC, it was fun visiting the hall of justice as tourist even tho they all knew the place better than the guides,then they went through Kentucky where Dick really wanted to visit the 'longest cave in the world' and comparing it to the bat cave (Bruce was unimpressed)

And finally they'll drive right through Illinois to get Bruce to Chicago and escape before he tries to get them to join the Gala

And then the car broke down in the middle of nowhere.

The sun would set soon but it was still really hot as we were in early August.

"the GPS say the closest city is a fourty five minutes walk" Annonce Duke while Dick,Tim and Bruce tried to find what's wrong with the car

"We could easily do the journey" Damian says placing a draw two making Steph, too invested in this game of uno with Cass and the demon brat frown

"in this heat!? Do you want us to die of a stroke?" The blond replied placing a plus two as well

"It looks like it's our only choice guys...the car won't start anytime soon better get to a town and buy some new parts" The eldest said from the front of the car

"can't we just call a cab or something?"

Asked Stephanie

"privileged behavior" Duke replied back to back "plus I don't think there's cabs in bumfuck nowhere...I ain't never even heard of 'Amity Park', plus, if they did they wouldn't have eight seat"

"wait Amity Park?" Asked Tim who was swiping grease on a now ruined travel towel "I have family who lives there..." He said thoughtfully

"maybe you can ask them if they have a place to stay for the night? There's only cheap motels in this town and I don't really wanna catch bed bugs" Duke says still on his phone

"oh wow now look who has privileged behavior!" Stephanie snort a smirk on her lips as she add a plus four to Cass's

"uhm can we go back to the part of Tim having living family members? That own a house? Why would you make up one if you had family in the state?" Dick ask "and why do you live with us?" Added Damian because, of course he would

"well... it's not like we talked a lot, I saw them...maybe two times in my life? And they were definitely my parents type of neglectful so going to them wouldn't have changed much"

"...do they also have a kid?" Bruce ask and before he got the chance to talk more he got shut down with a "no you can't adopt more kids!" From all his children

"but yes they do have a kid, we got along great from what I remember...but except sparkly pink dress I don't remember much..." Tim clarified

"I vote we still ask them for a place to stay or at least a ride, if they're Drake's family they should at least have a limousine or mansion no?" Steph asked eager to find a good bed once more

"I don't know...I haven't talked to them much... especially not after my mother's passing...I don't even know if I still have their number" Tim think his voice a little lower, he did think about his mother's sister and her family when he was still living alone in the Drake mansion but thinking back on the blurry memories of being forgotten for hours on end with his cousin didn't really make him want to reach out

"it's okay if you don't want to Timothy, we can find another way" Bruce says in his paternal voice placing a reassuring hand on Tim's shoulder

"no,no it's okay, a call won't hurt right?"

Tim looked through his phone and he, in fact, did have his cousin's number saved, he stepped away from the car to make the call. He was a bit nervous and a bit ashamed, he had a cousin his age that lived in similar conditions as him and he never thought to check up or call,and now that he did it was for a favour, they hadn't talked in over ten years and he couldn't really remember what they were like, hopefully they hadn't grown up like their parents as a stuck up asshole

Samantha Manson wasn't a family person,

She didn't care for them,they didn't care for her.

She labeled all her extended family members under "family" as contact names and usually wouldn't pick up when they'd call, not that they did regularly

Yet,she was in a good mood today so when her phone light up and her ringtone rung she picked up

"uhm Hi Sam...antha?... it's Tim- Timothy drake?Wayne? I uhm- our moms are sisters?"

Was the anxious voice that waited for her on the other side of the phone

Huh...

Huh.... Timothy ? Oh fuck Timothy ! Was she a bad cousin to have forgotten one of the only kids her age that she got along with in her family?

Well got along is a big word they just stuck around each other the two times their families were attending the same galla but it was fun for once...if she remembered correctly

It was still a time where he mother was the one dressing her up in those awful sparkly or floral dresses with cutesy hairdo...a goth's nightmare Sam got shivers just thinking back on it

"Yes I remember you Tim Drake...what can I do to help?"

Tim said coming back to his family who had all migrated to sit at a picnic table near the car

Jason Dick and Damian who had left for a gas station a few minutes ago to grab some snacks and see if they had anything to fix the car came back at the same time dropping bags of chips, candy and other bar chocolate

The comment about road safety made Bruce frown (hypocrite) but all the other kids could not care less

"so...we're not getting picked up by a limousine? Or is it more of a bus bar type of thing?"

Stephanie ask resulting on her head being bonked by Dick

"no the real question is what's your cousin like?"

"I am not spending a car ride with a snobbyer version of Tim"

Jason added making Damian nod in agreement and Tim roll his eyes

"To be honest, I don't remember much? She didn't sound snobby on the phone?"

Tim guess trying to make a mental image of what Samantha may look now, she probably let her dark chocolate brown hair grow? Or maybe she cut them? Would she still wear floral prints and sparkles? Probably not she hated them as a kid

"and how are her parents?"

Bruce inquired not without warning glares from his kids

"I remember even less! But Sam said they weren't home so..."

"hn"

Bruce narrowed his eyes but didn't say anything

"really all I remember about them is the fakest laugh and sparkly pink dresses"

Tim sighed

"sparkly pink dress? Are you trying to kill my rep?"

A new voice joined in the conversation making everyone at the table jump save from cass who had noticed the presence long ago

All but turned to see this goth girl wearing an all black dress with at least three layers of clothes and even more in accessoires

She smiled at them with teeth a little too sharp for comfort

"hi I'm Samantha Manson, but please call me sam! I hope you won't mind but my car might me a little cramped"

She said in a friendly voice beeping her car key bringing her car, a hearse, back to life radio blasting the latest song she was listening to and making her headlights bath them in light really tieing the whole spooky vibes together

TF2 MERCS DRIVING

scout: scout is actually one of the better drivers. undistracted, and he will lecture anyone who attempts to take his eyes off the road. knows stick shift because soldier taught him how to drive stick shift because “men know stick shift”. however, he doesn’t have his license, so he is legally not allowed to drive for Mann Co. for whatever reason, THAT rule is the one they follow.

soldier: he’s…. definitely capable of driving. nobody would willingly ask him to drive anything that handles better than a campbells soup can, the dogshit cars always act so well maintained with him. he eats at mario kart tho. he’s allowed one (1) shitty car that doesn’t even turn over unless he’s the one with the key in hand. if you ask him about how he happens to start the car he says “just jiggle it!”

pyro: will eat up a vespa. wants so badly to drive a fire truck. can’t for obvious reasons. also eats at mario kart.

engineer: a GREAT driver until you get him on the back roads. then it’s “darlin’, i’ve been driving on texas roads longer than you could see above the wheel, i got this” while your drink is splashing onto your shirt and you’re holding onto the the car handles for dear life and it seems like he’s actively going out of his way to hit every single pot hole and whooping like he’s a kid jesus fucking christ—

heavy: also a great driver! does his best driving on snowy roads, and will not drive a car not within legal parameters. he refuses to allow sascha to be taken because of something as silly as the insurance. easily distracted on the roads though, does better with a passenger princess taking care of directions. brakes for critters, brakes harder for road rage. he does love a good fight.

demo: a bad driver with a lead foot. treats the actual roads like mario kart. he’s also not allowed in the drivers seat of the company cars. that’s why he’s the main user of the teleporters. he uses his turn signals though, and frankly he thinks that’s all that should matter. once tailgated heavy so hard that heavy pulled over and as demo got out, fully ready to fight, and made eye contact with heavy he jumped back in his car and sped off. that was a sobering experience. heavy still laughs about it though.

medic: please do not ask this man to drive. he will be making calls, eating, drinking, changing the radio station, yelling at everyone in the backseat who’s “distracting him”, swerving in and out of lanes, using his knees to keep the wheel straight so he can clap to whatever music he decides on, and if you try to call him out on it, this fucker… this fucker scoffs. “don’t be a baby! i’ve been driving longer than i haven’t been driving, i am a wonderful driver!” with road rage to boot. he is not in his lane half the time. the last time he was allowed to drive for the company he also got into it with heavy. he’s the only one who didn’t get back in his car, but he did apologize. he will fight anyone who asks to fight on the roads, he will race anyone who asks to race. it’s lawless country. sighs about the autobahn often.

sniper: a good enough, responsible enough driver, because he’s the only one (aside from soldier…. technically….) with his own van to maintain. he will never let anyone else in the car if he’s in the car; he has no interest in letting people find out if he’s a good driver or not because his van is his sanctuary and that means everyone else get out. spends most of his time in his van anyway. doesn’t like sedans. does have a habit of tailgating people, and if you are allowed the rare opportunity to be in the vehicle with him and say something about it he’ll go “oh! am i? i’ll stop, thanks for letting me know mate” and then you will never be allowed in the car again. only thing he hates more than passengers are backseat drivers. he will tailgate whoever he wants to. fuck off. has also tailgated heavy so hard heavy pulled over to fight him, and he also got immediately back in his car and waved him off with an appeasing smile. heavy laughs about that too.

spy: you ever wanted to feel like you’re the worst driver in the world? get in a car with spy. feels like james bond. drives with no music, and one of the few times he won’t smoke. feels like an uber frfr. please do not speak to him when he’s driving, he would like to forget about the life he’s actively living and you are a part of that. makes a KILLER getaway car driver. prompt, punctual, professional. won’t drive anything without window tints.

Come on, this is an easy one. This thing is practically writing himself. Adam would 100% be here. Hatid-Sundo si baby boy by kuya Drivers niya. I can imagine Adam doing such an obnoxious laugh and then going, "Ay, gagi!" ( plus points for the elitism and the momol in hidden spots. I've seen yourFreedomWall)

Adam would walk you around the buildings, especially if you can't go inside. Why is it so hard to sneak inside? He would constantly take you to that one really good burrito and taco place (If you know it, then you know.), and would go to the Power Mac to buy stuff for you because why not.

Vox — ❤️

Hear me out a little. This is Vox we're talking about. So, despite being the type who belongs in the 🦅, at the end of the day, this is still Vox. This holds true considering that . . . uh . . . debate (?) surrounding those who should be accepted into ❤️. While Vox could go with the 🦅, he would snatch up a spot in ❤️. (But like, this is isn't his fault. It really is the fault of the system in place, and we're all proud of Vox because it is a big honor to be here.) Like Adam, Vox would be Hatid-Sundo, and would hang out in UP Town most of the time.

Dates would Vox would include going to Gino's or Nono's or cracking open the books at Tyler's. It would take forever to get anywhere with him because he refuses to walk anywhere, and would either always be driven there or would book a Grab. Plus point for traffic, but you get to bond and talk with him during the traffic.

Alastor — 🏹

He doesn't like being an 🏹 despite majority of the people being really chill and cool. But it's most likely because he bumps into Adam. He's practically crawling up the wall. He sees the life of those in 🏹 and gets really confused at how they act. He rants to Rosie (who would be in the all girl's club) about it all the time. Unlike Adam, Alastor will hop off at Vito Cruz.

Dates around the bay area and MOA, honestly. He would make you listen to his radio broadcast that I do know they have. All four have their own organization. Alastor would take you to Star City, and would insist on walking there because it's walking distance daw, and tricycles are low key a scam there.

(Again, please, don't come for me. 🏹's are mostly chill but come on. You can't deny it. I've seen what the streets look like. I've seen the Power Mac. The aircons.True 🏹 would find it funny.)

Lucifer — ❤️

I don't need to explain why Lucifer would be here. Let's be fr. I will fight anyone who says otherwise.

But unlike Vox, Lucifer would take long walks with you around the oval and the Sunken Garden. Fuck it, I'm even bold enough to say that he would join the run club there if you were into that type of thing. You would eat fishballs and kikiam. There would be no kwek-kwek or balut tho. When you get tired, you and Lucifer would sit by the fountain with the Statue™. Lucifer would take jeepnys with you to get around. If you don't go there, majority of date time would be spent trying to find you a restroom to use.

Charlie — 🐯

I debated placing Charlier either with the maroons or the tigers, but ultimately decided that it would be nice for Charlie to be with the tigers. I don't know how to explain it. It just makes sense to me. Charlie would always have an umbrella with her because rain or shine or terrible rain, she would go.

Charlie will take you to paskuhan at the soccer field to see all the lights and the concert. The food dates around that area would go hard. Like seriously, damn. Charlie would constantly take you to Lover's Lane, and explain all the history of the buildings.

Vaggie — 💙💛/ All Girls

This post is supposed to feature, "the big four" but I don't care. I can do what I want. It's fitting that Vaggie would be somewhere where it's all girl. (That recently started accepting boys too. So that's nice.)

Dates with Vaggie would involve CBTL, but in Regis Center instead of UP Town. Sometimes, you would cross over to ❤️to find something to eat. Tricycle rides to get around, and Siomai would be such a constant in your dates.

Idk why highschool slice of life stories dont click for me but highschool aus?? Man I'm so down for that, I think it's specially great for characters that come from very different kind of stories like these to give them a different setting and explore a little bit further. I personally really like playing with Kouao/Slyjaku Highschool AU because of their teen age, the only one we see a little bit of it is Sly's, I like trying to figure out how they would interact and how would Koujaku be as a teenager, I really think he would be much more of a rebel than what he is as an adult hehe. College and workplace aus also works but since highschool is way more an universal experience and they're already adults in the game…

SPEAKING OF all the voice actors are amazing. Blake Roman, Brightman as Pentious and Joel Perez were the ones I was the most worried abt but I loved all their preformances so much it was fucking fantastic

Tho I'm not sure abt how they're handling the ah- more serious bits of Angel's character. It is WAYYYYYY to early to tell and I think Loser wasn't like. Trying to downplay the situation. But the writers better have been careful moving foreward bcuz I can def see a world where Angel's arc goes very wrong very fast-

Also while we're criticizing: wasn't a fan of the pacing. Especially in episode two. Like I can look past it, but the way they breeze past some plot points kinda bugged me

come race day and max gets a one-grid penalty, george inheriting pole which again. is not a big deal to me (i cheered i wont lie) cause youre still front row and you literally said youll get the lead back in turn one. which you did and you won and hes humbled and humiliated in p4 (my man got fucked with the tyre strategy i just want to point that out. i loved the double overtake hazing ritual he got tho)

max radio after the race shading george and talking about karma (it was funny. bit cringe if you ask me. and why did horner yabba dabba doo on saturday)

and we couldve moved on soooooo fast but comes the post-race press and obviously they have to bring the debacle up and max starts airing shit out (screw someone... like... sexc 🥹). according to him george pulled some next level snake shit with the stewards to get him penalized (everyone wouldve done that) and he basically called george a two-faced skanky ass hoe (drivers act different behind the cameras? should we be surprised? should we call mohammed ben suleyman?)

allegedly max said some other, worse shit that i wish we had on camera but we only got ted kravitz paraphrasing it as "you and your fia mates" which is becoming a point of contention here (as george is the head of the drivers association that has been trying to stand up against the fia for better and more clear rules and regulations, right now mainly in support of max against the stupid punishments he got) (max, whos running to the head of fia on his own. tho im not too clear on this but if we wanna get serious about this it needs to be said) (this situation is also like a free blocklist cause some of yall have real braindead takes on it)

tldr; guy who maximalizes 100% of the track vs guy who maximalizes 100% of the book of regulations. these two have a history of clashes so something like this was bound to happen again 😁

Sorry for this rant, you don’t have to reply to this at all, and I’m sorry because Ik you’re prob getting a lot of this rn. I’m currently arguing with someone on insta that drivers can get heated up cause of adrenaline over the radio. It’s like the same when you get heated over a video game, it’s the same with everyone else but yes max was a bit over the top. But whenever he complains when the car is good it’s he’s complaining over nothing but when the car isn’t good it’s oh max is on a tantrum again??? And then this person uses Max’s sleep as an excuse?? He got 7.5 hours of sleep hello😭 he won a race before in the same conditions with less sleep. (I think 4 or 5 hours? For imola) no one said shit when he did that. Thats okay anon, sometimes it's nice to have a bit of a vent and then we can try and push those people out of our minds. I actually still don't think Max was over the top at all (I also suspect it was a result of some building tensions about things going on at red bull)

I know it's easy to say but it is honestly not worth the time and effort to argue with most people. They just don't like Max. Max could save someone's life and they would call him out for not saving two people's lives. They will never be convinced no matter what you say.

All driver's rant on the radio and I don't blame them, I rant when I am sat at my desk doing my no stress office job! I remember Lando telling his race engineer to shut up in Sochi, I remember Lewis complaining about the car to the point Toto told him to be quiet and drive it, I remember Bottas complaining about strategy, Fernando complaining he had a GP2 engine, even Kimi Raikkonen who doesn't like to talk unless necessary has ranted many many times on the radio and called the team out. They literally all do it and this isn't me calling out those other drivers, I support them getting out their frustration in the moment if they need to.

Max gives a lot of feedback even when the car is going well and so he should. If something isn't perfect he should call it out, this is a sport that relies on development so call out everything and see if it can be improved!

As for the sleep, I am not sure why people think they know how much sleep Max needs to function! If he had 8 hours would that be okay for them?! Where do we draw the line? Do they complain about other driver's having lots of extra curricular activities that make take up mental capacity. Again, the just don't like him. That man looked radiant all weekend, he is getting more than enough beauty sleep.

Red Bull can absolutely not afford to lose Max from that team and I think if they tried to restrict his sim racing he would be off.

Unironically I would and do listen to most of everything on there on a regular basis. also not sure I'd call some of this "upbeat"? more "pissed off and venting/catharsis?", which is awesome, but whoever's put papa roach and rage against the machine on there, I want to go out for drinks with them.

I gotta propagandize for my one-hit-wonders, Primitive Radio Gods "Rocket" or "Motherfucker" (neither of which are their hit) if you can handle the lyrics. And if you need something sappy you cannot go wrong with The Goo Goo Dolls ("Iris" is THE ballad to the point it's cliche, imma highlight "Come to Me" from 2013 instead. it's sweet.).

Three Days Grace is a similar feel to Linkin Park/Papa Roach/Rage Against The Machine with less hip hop. "Riot" would fit in with the other angry type songs. You can just hand the entirety of the One-X album to anyone who was an angry teen/20-something in the 00s tho.

The humans weren't all on one ship, they were assembled in an 'exodus' fleet that was fleeing some kind of catastrophe in the solar system that rendered earth as well as any lunar, martian, etc colonies uninhabitable!! It was assembled from craft and structures of various purposes (from military and scientific to residential, recreational, and agricultural ) from a wide variety of countries, all moving as close as they could together at once (with the largest flagship being an american built-in-space superstructure one with some...interesting technology aboard....) People of all types/jobs/etc were part of the exodus, which took several months. They knew there was a viable planet in the direction they were going, but had no idea that that planet was already under terraforming reconstruction by the Old Seru Empire (who had arrived a few decades prior to start getting it ready to be a new source of materials and space for their waning empire by making its atmosphere a bit better and adding a better soil layer and more water) (they were mostly engineers and military, but there were also a lot of working civilians and others who were living up there in preparation for going down to live there)

Until they started getting hints that there was someone already there (via some radio waves and weird objects in the planet's orbit, which also corresponded to imperials also getting an idea that someone was coming), humanity at this point still had had no concrete contact with or evidence of aliens!! (Or, i should clarify, *organic* and *physical* aliens...)

How exactly this happened is a mystery (ie spoilers XD), but the mass of human ships ended up hitting the Empire's main orbital stations, sattelites, and their space elevator, and just kept coming until everyone was sent to the ground. The most common theory was that it was the rings of the planet that maybe hit the flagship somehow, but that doesn't explain the uh lights that some witnesses have accounted. Anyway, after they made landfall the rest is history..

So basically this is a relatively small population stuck where no one can find them, and who knows whos even lookig for them in the first place. No one really knows what's going on in the solar system, humans have tried reaching out but it's radio silent. The Crash also wrecked the Empire's wormhole thing, so they're cut off WAY further away than humans are. Presumably, the old empire has really started falling apart by now and has probably made several attempts to sling another wormhole in this area despite the risk...but thats just speculation because it seems they haven't managed to do it yet. There's probably all kinds of fun stuff going on around this little shipwreck planet (post apocalyptic earth?? Revolution across the original Empire? Who knows!!)

Everyone that's down there has largely sidelined space efforts in favor of making life on the ground better, because there's pretty much nothing around them for so far around that it's not really worth trying (let's focus on The War and/or getting running water to more of the country first)

Oh, and I think the general ideas explained in the clip are the reason why we've already seen a few warring periods in the planet's few hundred years of history, it's a whole mess of alliances and rivalries btwn the sophonts from all origins, idk the specifics yet tho

I’ve followed you for Years and I find it so funny how you went from shipping Hayffie to not and then it’s me that went from Not to shipping them ajaj. We switched! I grow up and I tend to love more adult ships especially very much complicated and almost doomed adult Dynamic. I should stop cause in every show/movies/books the adult ones don’t get much happiness. I should have known tho since Kane & Abby (they started it!!)

I so fondly remember Kane and Abby!! I shipped them back when I was watching the first few seasons of the 100 too :')

Adult ships have equally interested me more than teen ones even when I was a teen. There seemed to be so much drama around them that I much preferred calmer ships with characters that felt more settled rather than teens going through journeys discovering themselves. Funnily, in recent years I've felt more appreciative toward teen stories & teen ships—I enjoyed Alice Oseman's Radio Silence—and I've enjoyed thinking about modern high school verses for the Capitol rebels :> Me adding Cressida & Fulvia to the 'cast' is also moving down in age ranges, although they are both mid twenties.

And hmm! I think I've just gotten fed up with the movie version of Hayffie. While I understand the enjoyment to have Effie in 13, she seemed to be there for some light-hearted moments in an otherwise bleak movie. I wish they would have made her endure true hardships to really settle a character's journey, because to this day I don't see why Plutarch would've taken her along, why she did go unpunished in 13, or her truly GAF about the rebellion. It seems that for all the development they had her go through in CF, there was little beyond that in both MJ movies.

Overall, movie!Hayffie felt so rushed and ignorant to the journey these characters have had. Haymitch and Effie spent years at odds with each other. Whenever they were in contact, Haymitch was drunk trying to ignore the fact he was part of an entourage dragging two kids Effie picked to the Capitol who would inevitably die, and whose parents he might or might not have to face for the rest of his life. This all happened while Effie yapped about how boring, uneducated, or downright uncivilised she thought these children were. These characters are at such strong odds that I do not see them moving past that in the span of a year and a half.

We were robbed of a slowburn we were never going to get because these were side characters whose love story was never planned until fans asked for one.

Hayffie needs a truthful slowburn to properly work, and the kiss at the end of MJP2 was a final nail in the coffin for me. The flirtations were already a little too frequent, but this kiss clearly was not their first, and that indication did not at all align with my need for a slowburn Hayffie. The fact that the actors were the ones who pushed for this, and that I don't like E-Banks, makes this less a thought-out storyline and more a "well, let's smooch, this feels right!"

The issue with Hayffie is that, after the end of MJ, they aren't really forced into contact with each other anymore. I don't see why Haymitch would care enough for Effie to stay in contact, and I don't really think Effie's life centres around a guy who she appeared to be disgusted by for the whole two to three weeks per year she was forced to spend her time with (and to everyone who might say that, no, Haymitch is a looker: He had been abusing his body with alcohol for two decades and did not seem to bathe often).

That's not to say that, in such a potential slowburn, Effie cannot realise that she cannot shake off the horrors that happened to her in the book. She might end up getting in contact with Haymitch, but she also sort-of really needs a reality check about how her ignorance made her selfish, because I don't see any evidence anywhere that Effie felt any semblance of guilt for her participation or felt grief for the previous tributes.

So a rather rough phone call might make her think, re-watch, and re-evaluate her past actions. That doesn't happen overnight, but takes months and years to come to terms with.

This is the central aspect I think is amiss in the Hayffie canon story and in most ideas that I was surrounded by. Effie needs to apologise, and it needs to happen from genuine growth that I find doubtful to happen during the canon book timeline.

From then onward, maybe a friendship can develop with some calls ever so often, maybe Effie sending him a gift by the next train as a thanks for a particularly rough call. While I don't necessarily see Effie as too bound to the Capitol due to potential trauma after the book time in MJ—she might live in some of the "better" Districts—I struggle to see her move to Twelve. And I don't see Haymitch leaving his home, ever.

So whatever they might—maybe, with an abundance of what ifs attached—become is going to be reduced by distance and, frankly, age and health. I'm sorry to Mr. Abernathy, but his alcohol abuse is not guaranteeing a long life. By the time that Effie might come around, I think he won't live much longer. Even in this version they don't end up in a romance, but at least I can see some platonic affection and appreciation—once Effie actually understands and listens.

I've also seen more Hayffie content I did not enjoy than enjoy (which was... fairly little) and just. realised that discrepancy. My issues with the portrayal of these two in the fandom were that I've often seen them reduced to stereotypes, phrases, and punchlines. There's only so many times that Effie telling Haymitch "Manners!" is funny, especially if we link this back to the never-addressed undertones of colonialised-colonialser here. I've also at some point realised that this is one of the ships where the dynamics are that of damsel-helper, whereupon Effie's trauma was a frequent and serious topic while Haymitch's drinking problems were the bottom of jokes.

Half a year ago Johnny left Nightcity after all that happened in Mikoshi, with his new body, he headed down to Texas in the hope of forgetting all that happened and starting over. 

But he was back in Nightcity, back in this shithole that only could take lifes and friends away from you. He took a long walk through the busy streets, the guitar strapped to his back, before he walked up a bunch of stairs just to reach the top of the megabuilding 10, sitting down on the edge there and looking over the city, just as he and V did in the last moment before attacking Arasaka Tower. One of the last heartfelt talks they had. Johnny pulled the guitar into his lap and played a few chords, just to feel less surrounded by silence.

"Hey V. God, this is so pathetic. I know you are not there anymore, but I still have my hopes high that you may nonetheless be listening, somehow. I mean what do I know bout that whole netrunner shit."

He took a deep long breath, staring down at the neon lit city, taking a look at billboards and anything close, deep down hoping for a sign that V was indeed with him, listening to him. But as so very often, radio silence. By now V probably was just another AI ghost trapped behind the blackwall. Johnny looked down at his guitar and started to play the song he worked on lately. Just some sappy shit to get through all that happened since he woke up in Vs head. After a moment of trying to strum the chords he paused again, feeling like his thoughts were extra unfocused today. 

Maybe it was just one of those days. 

"It's been half a year since we, I, left Mikoshi and I still cannot grasp it all. Your last words still ringing in my ears and I feel like I hitted the repeat button one too many times. Still wearing your stupid face, only changed to a more me fitting clothing style. But deep down it still didnt feel like it all belongs to me. This is still your body, not mine. Tho I think, maybe one day, I get used to it.

Oh fuck V. I thought, leaving this shithole of a city behind for a bit, would help me find my peace, once and for all. But Just sitting in the countryside of nowhere in Texas made me only feel more restless, and the silence there is so fucking deafening."

Johnny closed his eyes, overwhelmed by the inner turmoil but not ready yet to just give in and sit here like a kid and cry. In the end he was still Johnny fucking Silverhand and not some pussy. He tried to listen to the sounds of the city to focus his mind again. Gunshots, shouting, loud honking, an AV just flew over his head. In the distance he could hear some song, too silent to clearly understand the lyrics, but with a soothing melody. Almost sounded like it could be some of the new songs from Kerry.

"And back here, I talked a bit to Rogue and Ker, but they both dont fully understand my struggle, they never did. Not in 2020, and not now.

 It just feels like back than and it takes my all to not just fall back into all my old, bad habits again. So far I didnt smoked nor drank once in your body, but it gets harder every day, the urges are still there. I really dont know what I should do with the second chance you gave me, V. May it would have been better if you kept the body and tried to cure the shit just. But so? We both know I just gonna waste it in the end."

Johnny flinched, the old phantom pain of his cybernetic arm was racing through his shoulder and spine, despite not being there. He stared at his, at Vs old, left arm, all skin and good. Well, synthskin since Johnny fully got the Blades in it removed. But still, it looked natural, and he knew that V never once had this weird phantom pain he knew so far too well. Johnny rubbed a few times over his lower arm, trying to sooth the not even aching muscles, but hoping that the phantom pain would vanish if he tried enough. It was always like this, in situations where he would be stressed, the arm would start hurting, or worse, start talking to him. Gladly, that part didn't start over again since he got Vs body. Somehow they both never had any problems with cyberpsychosis, despite V being chromed out like hell. A small sigh left Johnny as the pain slowly got better.

"Oh V, why did you think that would be the right idea, hu? You make me think twice with your decision of giving your life for my stupid one. Doing anything dangerous, or well, like I did in my old life, feels like I would throw away this fucking big present you made. Why did you think my life was worth more than yours, V. I dont get it. People here are missing you, and I can never take your place fully."

The guitar long forgotten on his lap, now fell down on the concrete beside Johnny, as he pulled his knees up to place his head on top. He really felt overwhelmed and his oh so strong and stoic masquerade was about to break. Johnny just wasn't used to just feel his emotions, instead of drowning them in drugs.

hi kitty!! ty for asking! this is my first time actually writing out some of this so i hope it makes sense. i’m considering multiple kin types at the moment but ill focus on the two that i have strongest memories for. sorry this is so long i kind of just went off :’)

i have a lot of ghost memories and some of them kind of contradict each other, which makes me suspect i may have had multiple reincarnations as multiple spirits. or the same spirit has existed as an undead through multiple life cycles, if that makes sense?

i remember my name being Oliver at one point. the specifics of how Oliver died are hazy but i know it was violent and involved dying in a huge crowd of people, who all circled around me and were screaming, which made it all very unpleasant.

Oliver was really into radios and enjoyed messing with them in the afterlife, like manipulating the static and changing the channel when people weren’t watching. judging by the kind of things i remember hearing on the radio and how the radios themselves looked, i would guess this was somewhere around the 1940s. sometimes i listen to videos of radio static to fall asleep at night because it still relaxes me lol.

i also have memories of haunting a bookstore(? maybe school? or library? i just know there were lots of books). there was also a coffee shop either in that building or in the next building over, and i remember sitting next to this one specific potted plant in the coffee shop and eavesdropping on customers. those memories feel separate from Oliver, and i suspect it was several decades later. i’m still in the process of trying to nail down the specifics.

the OCkin thing started from really strong nostalgic feelings and visualizations I got while meditating, and this character Myrha and her life and her world just came to me very naturally. in that life/version of the universe i looked sort of like an elf, but we didn’t call ourselves elves or anything. we were basically just humans but we all had pointy ears lmao, we still slept like humans and had human life spans. this is why i sometimes tag stuff with “elfkin” though, the vibe is similar enough.

i sadly no longer speak the language that my people used but it sounded similar to old norse (i’ve been trying to develop a new version of the language that’s largely based on old norse, it’s a WIP tho). in my shitty approximated language, my home was called Rùn and i lived a few miles outside of a village called Sudifjoll. we had brutal winters and a monsoon season from early spring to late summer, so most of the time it was either snowing or raining.

that world had a whole pantheon of deities that i could go off about, but that should probably be a separate post. at one point i was ascended to the divine plane due to an unbelievably shitty series of events in which the gods were being assholes and trying to get me to solve their problems so they didn’t have to, but that would also need to be a whole other post if anyone is interested at all. that’s why i identify with divinekin as well, though.

i still remember a lot of people from that life and a lot of places, too many to list here because this is already quite long. but i try to meditate most nights and revisit Myrha’s world and connect with my past before i go to sleep. it helps me calm down and feel safe :)

Essay I'm about 12. I'm sitting in the back of the mini-van, and my parents are driving, babbling while something from the 80s plays on the radio. We're probably on a long trip, maybe a camping trip. I look out the window at forests passing by, and the sun painting yellow over trees that are towering in a brownish-gray, early spring. I didn't remember much more than thinking "I just have to pretend for the rest of my life, and everything will be fine".

When I lived at home with my parents, they cared extremely much about how other people saw them, and how you should be. People who are quite Christian have their own kind of Jantelov. Now it should also be said that my family is not a completely normal kind of Christian either. But you should be on the same level as all the other sheep, and you shouldn't dare think that anything is better than God. You are nothing more than a little sheep. Who should baa little about God to all the other non-Christian sheep. And then your sheep mom and sheep dad, and God, will like you.

This was the seed that was planted in my brain when I was little. As my brain began to sprout, I began to doubt whether I really liked the plant.

Should endure it, get baptized, fit the box, spread the word of God, for the rest of my life? So that mom and dad would appreciate, respect and love me? Or should I break away so that I can actually be myself. Explore the world, everything I like, all my possibilities and all my values. I have always been a wierd type and I think they have always just laughed it off and hoped that it was a phase, and that I would soon grow up and be “proper”. Its something I think I believed deep down I never would be. That doesnt mean that I dont take things seriously. I may have big dreams and ambitions, but I try to be realistic. But it doesnt mean that I will become an electrician because that is what my parents expected of me. It means that I value myself, and want to give myself a life that I will actually love. I will become a person I like.

I seriously considered the first choice. It was a difficult choice for a 12-year-old Christian plant. Of course, if I had been baptized, my life would have been incredibly different. So I chose the second choice, myself. Something that I didn't manage to tell them until a few years later. Of course, they were disappointed, and in the years that followed they distanced themselves from me and my life. And for most of my teenage years, I really just raised myself.

I have developed my own values ​​and my own outlook on life. I actively work on being kind to myself and motivating myself. I actively work on motivating my friends, and telling them that they can be themselves. I am grateful that I have a unique circle of friends filled with art students, nerds, foreigners, and non-neurotypical people. Here we all have unique interests, different ambitions, and strong personalities.

People in stereotypical Norway love "janteloven". Since humans are pack animals, and modern Norway is not as close, friendly and loving as it could be, it is probably easiest not to think so uniquely about yourself and to fit in with the rest of the pack. Of course you don't think anything about yourself, it is easier to fit in with all the others who don't think so much about themselves. Janteloven is bullshit. Of course I am scared too, and think a lot about fitting in with the pack also. But I think that what makes it easier for me to be more confident in being unique is that I broke out of a slightly stricter, sheep herd.

I am 20 years old. Sitting on a flat roof on a multi-story building. Here you can see the entire city panorama. It is brownish-gray spring, and the sun paints yellow all over the city. I am sitting with my close friend. Munching on biscuits that were half price from the expired corner at the grocery store. I don't have the energy for much else at the moment. I think, "ill like my life".

i dont write much. id like to write more. it went a little personal but i mean most of my teachers know about my situation so idc LOL later in life ive been considering making something like a mix of biography-diary entries-art and drawings
