Blake and Yang were sitting on the sofa watching TV. Soon, Yang hears her scroll ping.

Yang: Hm? *checks her scroll and blushes wildly*

Blake saw a text sent to Yang from Nora and her eyes nearly popped out. Clear as day, there was a picture of a shirtless, muscular Oscar Pine.

I always used to wonder how in the world abusers can get away with apologism by masses....until i met RWBY fandom and the characters Adam and Cinder. Living pixelated proof that if you try enough you can convince people of anything. Like accentuating the fact that a villain is an abuse victim first and then lastly a fucking mass murderer, you know, a very trivial detail!

I understand that Cinder is an abuse victim. But that does not excuse her actions and either she needs to take responsibility through some self-redemption that does not include being forgiven by her own victims (i.e Emerald, RWBYALPN) or be held accountable by someone else, whether that's through death or the authorities.

And anyway, my post isn't even ABOUT that. That's the last reason that I would prefer death. It was because I detest some of the other possible alternatives, my least favorite being that Cinder somehow overthrows Salem or becomes the final boss after the latter is finally defeated.

I detest it. It throws away all of Salem's buildup as the overarching villain, and I'm not saying this as just a Salem fan. I'm coming from a narrative and writer's perspective, as well.

What hurt me was being judged and accused of having bad morals based on my opinions of how a fictional villain should be handled in a fictional show.

I see this far too much in the RWBY fandom, people judging others based on their opinions of a character and assuming they know the person's morals/beliefs/personality and automatically slapping a "BAD PERSON" label on them.

You know what would've been so, so good imo? If Pietro stayed with Ironwood and Penny went with RWBYJNR, and she has to choose between her father who loves her unconditionally or her "friends" who are so obviously using her and basically holding her hostage, and she eventually chooses her father because she can see past RWBY's lies, manipulation, and gaslighting. It would be the glorious slap in the face that Ruby and her subordinates so rightly need and deserve.

i am honestly at this point just salivating for some genuine conflict in rwby between people where it doesn’t go down the swanny into hypocritical righteousness vs obviously forced villainy. they’ve kind of begun it with the break in teams between rwbyalpn but i have no faith they’ll actually carry that on in any meaningful way between our mains.

i want penny to be treated with some damn respect, yes i think her entire existence in the plot is barely justified fanservice & manipulation of fan’s heartstrings over the meaning of penny’s entire arc; but as she is now, she’s still a young girl being tugged between both sides like she’s a child’s toy, not an actual person. no one is taking into consideration what penny wants or needs, the only people i think would [ winter & pietro ] haven’t had any screen time with her yet & that sucks.

Who's your favourite villain (I feel like I already know the answer) and from the main cast of heroes (RWBYALPN)?

Lol, am I that obvious? XD I actually have 2 favorite villains (I call them my Problematic Bastard Maidens):

1) Raven (duh): Everyone's favorite "Mom of the Year", I love how nuanced her relationship with Yang is. Epic subversion of "lone samurai absentee father". Badass design, one of the most complicated characters in the show, and, at the same time, one of the easiest to sass for poor life choices. I'm a sucker for comedic juxtaposition and any character that can simultaneously be "compassionate and complex take on the fears/insecurities around parenthood" and "that bitch who 100% lived in bushes and shouted at children as a bird instead of saying hi" checks all my boxes.

2) Cinder: Always thought she was cool, but then I started analysis and HOLY CRAP! This woman is woven into SO MUCH of the show. References, allusions, parallels - pick almost any main/secondary character and there's a good chance you can find a fairly compelling tie to Cinder. She's like the Kevin Bacon of RWBY characters, man. Also very complicated as an individual. Love the potential directions they could go with her. While I know it's unhealthy for her, her commitment to burning down the institutions that abused her is SO satisfying to watch.

As for favorite main character, that one's a little hard to choose bc I would probably throw down for any of these kids in a heartbeat. But. I'm going to have to go with:

Yang: The amount of. . .very specific ways I relate to this character is frankly obscene. Like "I am also a Leo that likes punching and is a crazy smart impulsive dumbass named after sunshine who has always been defined by their hair and was 17 at the start of the series" levels of obscene.

If you've read any of my analysis on this character, I have some very specific themes. Mostly about self love and being pateint with herself. Because that's something I constantly struggle with and having someone so crazily similar to myself that I can feel those feelings for has done a lot in terms of becoming more at peace with myself. Like. If I can love and accept Yang for not being perfect, why can't I do that for me? Which is why media is an awesome tool for processing shit, lol. Even if the rest of the show were to go off the rails somehow, the emotional connection I have to Yang will always hold a special place in my heart. :)

Also. Just to put it out there. You haven't experienced meta until you've discussed how your tumblr posts psychoanlyzing the yellow anime girl are an exercise in self love with your 60 year old, butch-ass therapist. 10/10 highly recommend ��🤣

So does any of RWBY or JNPR (ALPN?) still go out on missions together or is that something of the past?

Ruby: We do, buuuut we got kids to take care off, food to put on the table, all that jazz.

Weiss: If anything we take missions that maybe last for about a couple hours. Hell, most missions only require maybe two of us.

Blake: It’s a “once in a blue moon” type deal, missions that typical last a day or even a week will rarely be taken. The bigger jobs land us more money as well.

Yang: But seeing as Team RWBY’s the new Maidens and Team ALPN is the second most strongest team on Remnant, a lot of these missions are a big deal and MEGA important.

Jaune: As we’re away we try to stay in contact with our kids as much as we can.

Nora: Through video calls, texts, letters if there’s no signal, anything.

Oscar: Sure we may have babysitters or relatives to look after them while we’re gone.

Ren: But we have to make every second count, new Grimm are out there and we don’t know who’s gonna get hurt or worse.

RWBYALPN: We have to be ready, because one day our children will take up our jobs too.

Preface: This is in good faith

Okay, I understand the idea, but, realistically, the idea of any of RWBYALPN forgiving Cinder enough to let her join their time is slim to none. It’s just unreasonable to think they’d be able to let go their grudges with her. She’s caused them and people they love irreversible pain and trauma. Her having a tragic backstory won’t change that, because that’s in the past, and she’s made her choice since then to cause people pain, and they’ve suffered because of it. 

If she says she wants to aid them in taking down Salem, loses her ravenous hunger for pain and drops her goal of hunting down the maidens, I could see them warily agreeing to let her help them, but to let her them as a friend? No way. She’s killed their loved ones, she attempted to kill them, she caused the deaths of countless innocent people, she destroyed their school, literally destroyed their lives, including killing Oz, which started the merge with Oscar.

I’m sorry, I just can’t see it. RWBY is indeed about moving forward, learning from past mistakes, and breaking cycles of abuse, and they can do that by dismantling and reforming the systems that have created people like Cinder, but this is the present, and forgiving the one who caused them misery and pain is just. impossible. They’re justified in their grudge against her, and it’s reasonable for them to not forgive her or want to be near her. In fact, it’s the most realistic thing for them to do. It would be extremely questionable if the writers had them erase their grudges and forgive her.

"At what point has a person gone too far?” is THE question and now waiting for Cinder to be turning into a monster but having at least some part of herself left and after years and years of only relying on herself and rejecting others... she finally lets herself ask for help. And Ruby's eyes light up literally in accordance to the plea before her.

yuuuup, but i'm also wondering if cinder would go to ruby first — would she be willing to take the risk of getting eye-blasted the moment she shows up? — or if she'd go to someone else first, some who could act as "a middleman".

y'know. anyone who wouldn't try to kill her on the spot.

like, cinder shared some similarities / parallels /whatever you want to call them with oscar, and oscar found qrow first, and that was his way into the group (who he's now closer to compared to qrow).

so i could see cinder being brought into the group by someone who cinder finds first — it also works as a first small step in asking help from others, before the hard part of actually asking it from your Greatest Rival™ comes.

Ruby: I got this. *Cups hands over mouth* FARM EMERGENCY! Is there a farmhand in the house?!

Jaune: What's a farm emergency?

Ruby: I dunno, but there's an emergency for everything. He'll know, and then we'll find him!

Weiss: We're not on a farm.

Ren: Or in a house.

Ruby: That's the thing about farm emergencies, Weiss. You never know where they're gonna strike.

Oscar, pushing through the crowd: There's an emergency?

Nora: Oscar! We found you! *Bear-hugs him*

Oscar: Is it pests? What kind -- insects, deer, grimm? Or is something wrong with the irrigation? Oh gosh, we have to hurry--

Yang: There's no farm emergency.

Oscar: ... What?

Ruby: Yuh huh. The farm emergency was you were lost.

Oscar:

Ruby: You're a farmh--

Oscar: I got it.

Hm... I dunno about favorites, cause they all love each other and he’s gotten some nice moments with most of them here and there! So instead, how bout some reasons why he loves each of ‘em in no particular order? :)

Blake - Fellow bookworm, major sibling energy (more accurate sibling dialogue than the actual siblings in the show), sassy interactions and great to just vibe with. They’ve got that thing where they can just be near each other and it’s comfy. They sit near each other in a lot of scenes, which was nice to see back when no one was really talking to him in v6. Blake just interacted with him like normal, which was nice and grounding when he felt most lost. While the others are off being chaotic or intense, they can just chill and talk about their favorite stories! Oscar used to dream about living through these books, but now he’s realizing he actually has, and that many of these books should not be classed as “fiction.” Blake asks him to autograph her copy of The Man with Two Souls.

Weiss - She’s the teammate he’s interacted with the least onscreen (which I think is a shame since he’s close in age to her brother and yet so different from him), but Oscar likes and admires all the Schneeblings (he remembers Winter fondly). Weiss went to the movies with him in v7! If only to get away from the bees XD She’s the one who tells the waiter when Oscar’s order is wrong. “It’s okay, you really don’t have to--” “Oscar you’re allergic to peanuts you could die.” “I mean, can I really though?” “No. I forbid it.” “So did god.”

Yang - She’s such a bro with him! Yang was the FIRST (and I think only??) character to ask how Oscar feels/what Oscar thinks about something. Ever. (Only took until Volume 7 for someone to ask that; maybe one day it’ll be asked to him and not just about him). Leaning on his shoulder was real cute :) Yang and Oscar were the only two to voice discomfort with lying to Ironwood, Winter, Penny, and the Ace Ops, both gently asking Ruby about her decision, disagreeing, but following her lead. Yang ruffled his hair in Monstra, that was such a sweet moment. She’s also the first member of her family to stop herself from punching him! (Okay with Ruby it was sparring but still) XD

Ruby - He looked up to her from the start, and now they treat one another like true equals. Ruby has always treated Oscar as his own person, even when he himself doubted it. She was the one to reach out and open up to him when he was more scared than he’d ever been, and that clearly meant a lot. During V6 he began to offer her comfort and support in return. V7 let them have discussions about what’s right, and come together to make decisions they could both agree on. They have a very healthy relationship to one another, where they’re allowed to disagree and talk and work together, remaining supportive and trusting through it all.

Jaune - They’ve both been the underdog, and are both still growing and finding their feet. Neither had their semblance when they met, and both feel like they have to work harder and train more than anyone else just to keep up. They practice together sometimes. “How’d you get to be such a good teacher?” “I had a friend help me like this when I was just starting out. Now it’s my turn.” They went to the movies in v7 and the huge smile and big hug in Monstra truly showed how much they’ve bonded and the effort Jaune’s put in to make sure he can be comfortable around him again. He’s given him compliments, called him brilliant, and has become a solid teammate and friend. Oscar lived alone with his Aunt. Jaune was always the baby brother. Now he has someone looking up to him. They are brothers, your honor.

Ren: Ren defended risking his life in the hopes of saving Oscar, truly viewing him as not only a part of the team, but as a friend. He was always soft with him, (even if he lost his temper when Oscar lost the lamp). After riding the hoverbike with Yang, Oscar switched to ride with Ren because no way was he going through that again. Ren is a much safer driver, especially with Oscar on board. He’s been more of a supportive figure from afar, a background comfort to him. Ren accepted him right from the start, patiently teaching him about aura and semblances, and encouraging him that it’s something he can work towards.

Nora: She’s always been so affectionate with Oscar, almost motherly (but like, the world’s most chaotic-yet-loving mother whose son is more responsible than her). She stopped calling him “little cute boy Ozpin” or “cute boy Oz” as soon as it became clear he values being his own person, and has only referred to him as Oscar since. She regularly greets him with tackle hugs, but when he returned after being shot, she gave him a soft, gentle embrace, just happy to see him safe. Nora and Oscar were also the most vocal about helping Mantle, and both confronted Ironwood about the morality and consequences of his choices. Both wanted to warn the people of the kingdom about the incoming attack, actively opposed his implementation of martial law, and explained why it will only cause more division to treat some people as not worth saving. Listen, they’re both commies and you cannot change my mind.

RWBYALPN has accepted Oscar as one of them, an irreplaceable part of the team, making sure he knows they want him around for who he is. <3

The Atlas arc decided Oscar needed to have the deepest voice in the main cast (minus Qrow) and then did it

He did try to heal her. Both Penny and Jaune realised that by the time Penny would be able to move or just not die, Cinder would have finished playing with Weiss and kill them anyway in some painful way and then Cinder would have two sets of Maiden powers (and as far as we know it's possible). So to prevent that, Penny made the choice to sacrifice herself so that a trusted ally could receive the Winter maiden power and not a psychopath that wants them all dead.

Jaune is, also, probably one of the only main characters that would actually do it, being the strategist of RWBYALPN, knowing that this outcome would be the overall best. It's just also means Penny has to die and Jaune gets a new, fresh batch of Trauma.

It's not okay to murder suicidal people, it's not okay to kill people at all really. Especially not trusted friends and allies, hence the scream of emotional turmoil that came from Jaune right afterwards. He literally went against everything he ever stood for and killed and an innocent person and not just, that a friend, a friend who was also really close with his best friend: Ruby.

It was a terrible, horrible action that left and will leave most of the main cast traumatized. It just also happened to be their only good call.

It's also not part of his overcoming toxic masculinity, that happened a while ago. This event sucks especially for Jaune because of the previously mentioned reasons and that he was just recovering from the internalizes trauma he got from Beacon and Haven

One thing I don't get from Jaune stans is this:

How does murdering an injured-female ally without even TRYING to heal her tie into him "overcoming toxic masculinity"?

Seriously, this is a take I keep seeing, but outside of "It's okay to murder suicidal people" I haven't seen anyone actually address the inherent double standard in that action.

How long has Oscar been with the main cast I now for use Oscar been here for 5 years so so times that's how it feels like it's been years but in show how long has it been my one friend said she thinks it's been 8 months but I thinks it's only been 3-5 months at best

That's what I wanna know! It all boils down to how much time was spent in Atlas in volume 7. V5 he was with them for "approximately one month." Then in V6, "it's been 2 weeks since the attack on haven" followed by what I feel can't be more than a week or so to get to Argus. Then v7 happens and it's anybody's guess. Pietro said "apologies for holding onto your weapons for so long" so I assume that's about a week? No way of knowing. I counted based on the c5 montage how many days seemed to be shown, but they say things like "you always pair up" like they've been on the job for long enough that the ace ops know their patterns and dynamics. I estimated 2-3 months, but since the montage didn't show all that much, it could've been as short as 1 month.

So my guess used to be he’s been with them for around 3-5 months too! But THEN someone told me that in After the Fall, it mentions that it took team SSSN 5 months to get to vacuo. (They said they weren't sure of the number but they think it said 5 months, so @ anyone who’s read the book please let me know!!!) We see Sun and Neptune in Vacuo in v8c5, so if that person was correct, team RWBYALPN was in Atlas for about 5 months minus how long it took to get there in v6 at minimum.

So if all of that is accurate, Oscar’s been with the group for *checks watch* around 6.5 months? That feels like a lot but who am I to argue with the books I haven’t read? :P It’s hard to gauge seasons as well since the climates are so different.

RWBY Boys- Can’t Help Falling in Love

Team RWBYALPN and Penny gathered together as they sat around the warm fire. Camping in Forever Fall Forest was the best idea they had. Jaune and Oscar looked Ruby and Penny, the former teaching the latter how a thumb war worked.

Jaune: Hey Oscar?

Oscar: Yeah?

Jaune: *smiling* I’m thinking you and I confess to Ruby and Penny tonight.

Oscar: *eyes wide* T-Tonight!!!!!!

Jaune: Shh!!!! *whispering* Keep your voice down!

Oscar: *whispering* Sorry. But really, why tonight?

Jaune: *whispering* Why not? We have everything here; warm campfire on a beautiful night where we can see the stars? It’s perfect. I even brought my guitar!

Oscar: *sighs* Okay, what’s the plan?

Jaune: *smiles*

[10 minutes later]

Nora: Oooooh!!!! The Arc Guitar returns! What are you playing tonight, Fearless Leader?

Jaune: *chuckles* You’ll find out soon enough, Nora. Everyone gather around, this song is dedicated to Ruby and Penny!

Everyone: Awww!!!

Ruby: *blushes* Jaune, stop it! *giggles*

Penny: And we love you two, guys! *beams*

Jaune: *turns to Oscar* You hear that? They love us! *leans in and whispers* Even more when they hear us play.

Oscar: *heavy breathing* Brothers give me strength.

With a little bit of strumming to warm up, Jaune finally started playing. Even though they heard him sing numerous times, it was always a surprise to hear such a beautiful voice.

Jaune. Wise men say only fools rush in.

But I can't help falling in love with you. *winks at Ruby*

Ruby: *sighs dreamily*

The biggest shock, however, came when Oscar sang. It sounded like a choir of angels.

Oscar: Shall I stay? Would it be a sin

If I can't help falling in love with you?

Penny: *gasps* Oh my!

Jaune/Oscar: Like a river flows

Surely to the sea

Darling, so it goes

Some things are meant to be

Take my hand

Take my whole life too

For we can't help falling in love with you

For I can’t help... falling in love... with... you.

Jaune and Oscar’s faces lit up when they were met by the roaring sound of applause, though none cheered more loudly than their girlfriends.

Ruby: *runs over to Jaune* Oh my god!!! That was beautiful!!!

Jaune: *holds Ruby close to him* I’m glad. Because there’s no one else I’d rather be with than you.

Ruby: *tearing up* God, you’re such a dork! *giggles*

Jaune: *giggles* I love you, my beautiful rose.

Ruby: *cups his cheeks* I love you too, my darling knight.

Their faces moved closer together, capturing each other’s lips in a warm, tender, passionate kiss. Everyone watched happily at the sight, especially Blake, who squealed like a fangirl at a rock concert.

Oscar: *chuckles nervously* Yeah, this was all Jaune’s idea. To be honest, singing’s not really my thing.

Penny. But why not? You have the voice of an angel.

Oscar: *blushes* I-I do?

Penny: Of course! Oscar, you have a wonderful gift!

Oscar: W-Wow! You know, Penny, you’re the first one to ever say that to me.

Penny: I’m saying it because it’s true. *grabs his hands* It also made me realise that I love you.

Oscar: Y-You do?

Penny: *frantically nods* Absolutely!

Oscar: *chuckles* Guess like this idea wasn’t as bad as I thought. Penny, I love you too. So much.

Penny: C-Can we please kiss now? *smiles widely*

Oscar: *smiles back* Nothing would make me happier.

Pulling her close to him, Oscar and Penny lost each other in a deep kiss. This day would be remembered as the best camping trip ever.
