looks like the cute maddie & tommy moment was cut for time, so i'm picturing it as...buck and tommy have entered the hospital room, both flushed and grinning. maddie locks eyes with buck first, inclines her head towards tommy and buck starts grinning even bigger. tommy notices and follows his gaze to maddie, who looks at him and then her brother and their joined hands and they're all smiling, basking in the good feelings

All I'm gonna say about the karaoke scene is that I'm not very disappointed/surprised at the news? I never once thought we were ever going to get a full Buddie performance anyways? It would be a short scene of them singing at best so I'm not sure why people are shocked to hear it's been cut 😅. The promos didn't exclusively hype up the karaoke scene imo. It was just showing the shenanigans they got into. I didn't think it was going to focus on the karaoke scene specifically. I just knew we were going to get a montage/flashback of what happened for them to be so drunk and out of it. It's a Madney episode so I already knew it would be focused on them more than anything. It is however, worrying that so much content was edited out of the episode to make it so short.

(btw this is me operating under the assumption at least some of the karaoke/party scene WILL be shown. It's a completely different story if they cut off the ENTIRE thing)

today i'm thinking about how tim minear saved the henrentommy scene from the cutting room floor and sent it over to abc so that they could release it. when you think about it on its own, it's not really that special. tptb do that fairly often with their movies and shows: they save some extra content and include it alongside the official cut on dvds as a bonus feature. it's nothing out of the ordinary.

but this is tim minear we are talking about.

the same tim minear who, after 7x06 aired without the extended version of the buck and eddie karaoke scene (which angered a lot of buddie shippers to the point of sending him death threats), went on record to say that although he isn't really hesitant to share deleted scenes, it is something that has negative connotations for him. because last year, when he finished and released some 911 lone star scenes that were excluded from the finale, the fandom was furious that they were cut in the first place instead of enjoying the extra content. in the same statement, he mentioned that the reaction had left a bad taste in his mouth and so he wouldn't be doing that again.

given the context in which he said that, it's really hard to blame him. after all, he's human too, and it must suck ass when you release something you took your precious time to finish, thinking the fans would appreciate it, only for them to react negatively. he wasn't willing to go through that again. end of story.

except, he did do it again.

tim experienced backlash from both tarlos fans and buddie fans for not doing things their way. nobody would blame him if he didn't want to make the same mistake with bucktommy fans. but tim is sanguine. he is optimistic. he took a chance on us. he saved the scene from the cutting room floor, finished it, and sent it over to abc, knowing full well there was a chance that bucktommy fans would lash out as well. i like to think he was fairly certain this time would be different, though, due to all the positive interactions he has had with us. but at the end of the day, this is something only tim knows. the point is, he decided to risk it one more time. and i have to say, it makes me incredibly happy, and for once, i am really proud to be a part of something like the bucktommy nation. we may have a few bad apples, as all fandoms do, but as a whole, it is such a positive community. we appreciate all the content we get. we don't harass people for not giving us enough. we understand why the story goes the way it goes. we see how certain scenes don't necessarily fit with the narrative flow of a given episode. we are able to think critically. and all these traits are something that creators really do appreciate. i can only hope this continues until the end.

i havent seen anyone else point out yet that ivan reaching for till's neck was already a consistent theme, strangulation aside

all the way back to round 3. in both that and after the karaoke scene, he's doing it specifically to release his restraints (post-karaoke specifically, it doesnt even seem to be for a real reason other than to bring him some temporary relief/comfort after that). even if its not shown in the other shots, i think thats what his desire is there too.

and with the strangling too, in the end i still think he was trying to save him through it, in whatever way he could at least. you could take that in the "it was a farce to save him" way or the "it was an attempted double suicide" way, but i think its just interesting. we see consistently ivan reach for till's neck to give him freedom, until the same gesture strangles him instead. isn't that ironic?

I’m actually getting really concerned for some fans right now seeing the reaction to finding out scenes got cut from tonight’s episode.

I understand this is not how most Buddie shippers feel but I’m worried about a very loud, intense subset of these shippers.

I’ve been pretty vocal that I was worried about how they would react to this episode because they convinced themselves Buddie was happening (it never, realistically, was tonight) but some have become unhinged.

I think they convinced themselves the karaoke scene was proof of Buddie endgame and the fact it was so easily cut likely has shown them it actually wasn’t important.

It was always going to just be a fun scene but without deeper meaning. Which is fine. I hope we still get it releases someday cause it’ll be so fun.

But I think some of them are waking up and realizing this isn’t the current plan and I think it’s going to be real bad online tonight after this episode (especially if we get bucktommy scenes).

I just think we all need to focus on putting out positive energy today.

Can we be real, for a second?

People aren’t pissed bc a Buddie scene was cut during the Madney wedding episode.

People are pissed that the team used an entire scene to draw people into that episode & THEN dropped, through an actor interview a day before release, that it was cut.

They’ve been treating the song they were supposed to be singing like a state secret. Oliver was talking WEEKS ago about this episode and doing “one of the scariest things he’d ever done” on the show about the karaoke. There was subtext there & stuff in the bachelor party that was hinting more with the storyline Eddie is on.

For the last 3 weeks, they’ve been using THAT SCENE in every promo & teaser & interview to keep fans interested, and THAT’S why people are pissed.

We all know that e6 is about Madney, nobody is disputing that.

The promo team hasn’t done a very thorough job of showing us that though. They’ve showed us Buck & Eddie, & now they’re cutting (at least, inferring from what we’ve heard by the people who have already seen it) a substantial amount of that out.

THAT is why people are upset. If they hadn’t been making such a big deal about this scene being in the episode, it wouldn’t be such a big deal now that it’s been cut out.

Tell me you don’t understand context without TELLING ME you don’t understand context 🙄
