buck started crashing out when eddie was planning on subletting the house. he drove every potential renter away by being insane. he adopted a beagle to make eddie jealous and it worked. he catfished eddie as a potential renter and already turned in his moving notice to his landlord before he even talked to eddie about it because he knew eddie would say yes. eddie looked ready to cry over this gesture. buck kept talking about how he was subletting eddie’s place at his goodbye dinner and wouldn’t let anyone forget it. his sister was kidnapped but he crashed out and yelled at eddie in his truck over the fact he was leaving him “like its nothing”. eddie said its not nothing. they had a tender goodbye hug in the rain. eddie said buck mattered to him, even though things had been messy and hard. the goodbye scene mirrored abby’s goodbye in season 1. buck couldnt shut up about eddie next episode. he couldn’t even unpack or sleep at the house either. but buck tried making a new friend and it didn’t help whatsoever. he annoyed ravi half to death with comparing him to eddie. eddie couldnt do anything illegal because he had a silver star. ravi ditched buck at the bar with his ex over it. buck hooked up with his ex in eddie’s house to distract himself from missing eddie. his ex said they could get back together now that the competition was gone. buck didn’t deny feelings for eddie when his ex brought up the fact he was living in eddie’s house — said eddie was a renter and he was straight. his ex scoffed at the idea of eddie being straight. buck said the words “i don’t have to sleep with everyone i have feelings for and i don’t have to have feelings for everyone i sleep with” which implied he had feelings for eddie while also implying he had none for his ex. his ex left because of it. buck showed up at his sister’s house complaining about how everyone thought he was pining for his straight best friend. she asked if he was. buck said “in love with eddie?” and maddie said “it wouldnt be so crazy”. buck confirmed he only slept with his ex to distract himself from missing eddie. he said he didn’t want to unpack because that’d mean accepting he and chris were gone. they facetimed four times across two episodes. they dealt with parenting chris together. when chimney overheard them talking about it eddie got uncomfortable. they cooked dinner together across timezones. when eddie came back for bobby’s funeral he lived with buck. for several weeks, in fact. he didn’t want to tell buck about his new el paso firefighter job and his married lesbian friends side eyed each over over this. he asked hen to tell buck for him. buck found out anyway. they had a fight in the kitchen that felt so intimate due to the use of a handheld camera. eddie wanted buck to grieve with him rather than pull away. the fight mirrored eddie and shannon. eddie left a note in the morning after he was gone. he came back with his kid because he heard “some dick was being mean” to buck and wanted to cheer him up. his leaving mirrored shannon but he came right back. he had his aunt cook them a family meal. pepa called buck evancito and carino. she referred to eddie as “our eddie”. eddie came to buck and ravi’s rescue at the building collapse that led to intense romantic eye contact that ravi interrupted. eddie didn’t notice ravi was there until ravi tackled him. buck still couldnt look away. when looking for a new place, buck wistfully says he wanted a place like his old one. that it “had character” but he was just a subletter.

all of this takes place across seven episodes, and eddie wasn’t even in one of them. people still think it isnt happening btw

this has already been said one Billion times but it was so absolutely Wild of the writers to have a man say “she is the love of my life. he is the love of hers. save Him” about his new wife and her son - in the episode where buck is trying to keep chris alive in a tsunami

Maddie coming into Buck's room where he's getting ready as the groom for his wedding and staring as he finishes putting the final touches. When Buck finally notices her presence, he asks a confused yet happy little "what?" cocking his head.

Maddie just smiles. "It wasn't so crazy, was it?"

Buck blushes and smiles wider too. "No, it wasn't".

i had a dream that 9x4 was an episode titled “Eddie” and it was about eddie having to work an entire shift without buck (crucially they were roommates so this whole time buck is waiting for him at home). and it had a lot of calls and action and stuff but between them eddie kept having little conversations with the people around him (the 118, randos on calls,) and somehow every single one ended up being about buck. and with each one you could see eddie realizing more and more what he feels about him, what it means for his sexuality, all of it. and then the episode ends with him coming home, and he looks exhausted because he had a long draining day and he drops down on the couch next to buck and buck smiles at him and eddie reaches out and holds his hand. what the fuckkkkk

buddie proposal where eddie proposes by accident and then. takes it back. because it's not how he Meant to do it. but buck was just being so. Buck. god. and he couldn't. he couldn't keep it in. like, it happens during the most mundane moment. like, it's early morning. and eddie's huffy because buck's not there (he went out for a run) and also there's none of his favourite cereal left. and then buck gets back from his run, and he's like, i stopped off at the store. you were running low on. idk whatever the fuck eddie's favourite cereal is. and eddie just, feels warm all over. god. he loves him. so much. and he says, marry me. and buck freezes. hand halfway to a bowl. says, what? and eddie feels like he might explode. says, marry me. and buck's like, because i bought you cereal? and eddie's like, no. well, yeah. but. fuck. wait, no. i take it back. and buck abandons the bowl completely now like, you take it back? you—no. what? you can't take it back. what do you mean you take it back? and his eyes are big and wide and confused and. hurt. maybe. and eddie's like, no. i don't—fuck. i'm messing it all up. i had a plan. and buck's expression softens. and he stares. like a puppy. says, you had a plan? to— and eddie breathes out, a long sigh. yeah, buck. to propose. i had a plan. then you. you bought me cereal. and buck frowns like, it's just cereal. and eddie laughs, a little choked. says, it's not, it's. no one's ever loved me the way you love me. and the way i love you is. god, buck. sometimes it feels like my chest is. like it’s not even big enough to hold it. and buck swallows, lump in his throat, cereal abandoned. says, eddie, soft and breathless. and eddie says, so i take it back. but only because i couldn't hold it. i have a Plan. and buck's like, tears in his eyes, okay. but for the record, it's a yes. now and. whenever. however. and eddie's like, i know. reaches, grabs buck's hand and pulls, tips their foreheads together, and buck meets him halfway in a kiss, slow, lingering. pulls away and says, so, cereal? and eddie laughs, says, yeah.

at the beginning of the season, buck is distancing himself from eddie but he has so much love for eddie that he’s only expressing in weird and distant ways. they’re in the firehouse loft and eddie’s telling hen that it’s been so frustrating selling his house in el paso and we see buck’s ears perk up (from his spot a safe fifteen feet behind eddie), but without even looking at him, eddie goes “buck do NOT buy my house i swear to god”
