People who don't believe in Legendaries are confusing to me. Yes they almost never willingly show themselves to people, but if you have a thirst for adventure and the battling ability to follow their rumours and legends and explore their temples then you can meet them.
I've witnessed Celebi (from afar), seen Jirachi (it was sleeping at the bottom of a lake, I had diving gear, I totally didn't poke it...) Lugia as well (I think... It may have been some trainers Aerodactyl...) To be fair these were all at a distance and I sought them out, but people out there don't believe in Regigigas??? That one I've seen up close, when I fell into its palm (thank you for not crushing me.)
Maybe because my area of expertise is ecosystems I was able to get the attention of the literal actual WORLD CARVER more easily, but like... I don't get how you can deny these guys exist, when there's actual documented encounters throughout history...

So the Pokédex calls Magikarp "a pathetic excuse for a Pokémon" and now I feel bad for my 10 kg flopping fish.

Lapras WIP
I wanted to try some new techniques for this piece. I really like the look of gouache illustrations and I wanted to emulate that with digital brushes. I actually drew this piece twice and traced over my original drawing. I don’t know know I’ll do this for all of my future drawings, but it’s very efficient.

Ubausagi, the foster bunny
More information about my favorite gen 3 beta pokemon revealed in the past few days!
Tumblr media
Name: ウバウサギ(Ubausagi)
Other name canidates: チルニー (Tilnny), オウサギ (Ousagi)
Category Name: こづれ (Foster Pokemon)
Pokedex Entries:
First version:
If it has no offspring, it will seek out a small living thing and place it onto its back. It brushes its teeth by gnawing on hard objects.
Second version:
It wraps its tail around itself to make a cradle and raises its baby. Sometimes other creatures are mixed in.
Third version:
It can run 50 meters in 7 seconds flat. Sometimes, it may accidentally drop its child. It brushes its teeth by gnawing on hard objects.
Height (Meter/Ft) & Weight (kg/lbs): .8 (2'7")/12.5 (27.6)
Type: Normal
My own notes/rambling: So I'm thrilled we have the backsprite now since it really clarifies what's going on here; the green tail is being tilted forwards over the pokemon's back and holds its babies inside like a little clamshell cup. The tail is green and looks like it has the spiky lobes of a leaf to me, which makes me wonder if this pokemon would make more sense as a Normal/Grass instead of pure Normal type? The animal is modeled after a rabbit (ウサギ or 'usagi' means 'rabbit' and two of the proposed names place pre-fixes of some kind in front of the word rabbit). So it seems to be a rabbit with an especially large, green, leaflike scooping tail it can use to carry its young.
By far the cutest aspect of this beta pokemon is that it's the "foster pokemon" and its dex entry says if it doesn't have young of its own, it will take care of whatever little critter it finds. Even if it does have its own babies to tend to, it may end up looking after others as well. CUTE. And some wild animals do end up doing this in real life, believe it or not.
The dex entries about its speed and its constantly growing teeth that must be kept clean and short by frequent gnawing makes sense, as that matches up with rabbits.
I love the zippy stripes on this bunny, and I find its colors very pretty. Perhaps not very flashy in the world of pokemon, but a nice simple black with white stripes look can be really appealing. Kind of reminds me of tapirs.
Anyway!! I love them with all my heart.

Could I maybe get a Hisuian!Reader who came to Paldea through a space time rift? They remember everything, they still have all their old Pokemon, they like to share stories of their adventures (anything from taking on Volo to "Oh yeah, I caught this alpha garchomp after a half-hour standoff, here's her gigaton ball lol."), they've got little scars here and there from accidentally standing too close to Pokemon attacks or taking fall damage, and they give descendants of their Hisuian Pokemon to their blueberry friends (BBE4, Carmine, and Kieran) during their trades. To make things even more interesting, I wonder what that reader would think about bloodmoon ursaluna, Perrin, and modern Sinnoh - seeing their dear friend Adaman in someone alive today and seeing just how much things have changed over the years
Tumblr media
The PLA fixation is real so YESSSIR I finally got around to this one. I separated the headcanons by region and their respective characters
.............
Paldea (Arven, Penny, Nemona)
After finishing your mission in Hisui, you decided to confront Arceus, being satisfied with everything you've done for the Survey Corps and the good people of Jubilife Village.
You fully finished the pokedex, fulfilling Professor Laventon's dreams, and were ready to return home.
After some reluctance, Arceus agreed and ensured you wouldn't lose any of your memories, as you didn't want all your feats in Hisui become lost to history.
It warned you that you'll never get to see Rei/Akari, Professor Laventon, the Wardens...or anyone else ever again.
But you've said your goodbyes and were ready to go back.
One warp through a space-time rift later, you were dropped off in Paldea-
Right where Arven, Penny, and Nemona were discussing whether to call off the search for you or not.
As it turns out, you've been missing for months, not long after the Area Zero adventure, and so it's a rather tearful reunion when they realize the person in the old fashioned clothing was you.
You looked tired, scarred, battle-hardened...and yet you smiled as you joked about being "back from the past".
Since then, easing back into modern life was..trickier than you expected.
You still had the habit of crafting pokeballs and potions as you were taught, rather than spend money buying them in bulk (even though you had boatloads because of your champion status).
You tried getting the trio to follow your directions, but they kept fumbling with the tumblestones and didn't know where to attach the iron chunks that made up the clasps.
When you start talking about feather, wing, leaden, and gigaton pokeballs they stare at you in confusion until you realize "oh shit those are outdated".
Nemona is VERY curious about the gigaton ball, however, and so you show it to her--revealing your Alpha Garchomp branded with the "Former Alpha" mark. She got to keep her height.
"Oh yeah, she was a real feisty one. We had a half-hour standoff on a slippery ice mountain slope but I showed her who's boss haha." You laugh as you share the story of how you encountered and tamed her.
Your fellow champion now thinks you're 10x cooler for actually facing a Pokémon head-on....while poor Arven and Penny are shook(TM) and wondered how you made it back alive.
Especially when they discover your scars are from falling and vicious Pokemon attacks
Introducing your Hisuian starter to your Paldean starter was...a little awkward. One recently became a champion's Pokémon and the other faced Giratina itself.
But they eventually shake hands and become besties, becoming members of your party whenever you wanna battle Arven, Penny, or Nemona again.
You keep accidentally calling out agile/strong style in your commands (ie "Avalugg, make an Agile Avalanche!"), but your Pokémon like to pretend they still know them.
Kitakami (Perrin & Bloodmoon Ursaluna)
Returning to Kitakami felt most familiar..and quite comforting considering how traditional everything is.
Festival of the Masks came back around, and while you didn't get to spend it with Kieran nor Carmine this time...you did wind up spending it with somebody else...
Perrin, who you were drawn to after seeing her Hisuian Growlithe getting into trouble with an Arbok and trying to stand up for itself.
Reminds you of a certain late lord's son..
She expresses her thanks for rescuing her buddy, and mentions how you got there "right on time".
You just look into her eyes and see Adaman: the Diamond Clan leader, the kind man who gave you the celestica flute and came to your aid when you got exiled from the village.
He may be gone now, but time didn't allow him to be forgotten.
Because he lives on in somebody else.
Perrin gets concerned when she sees how emotional you're getting, but you just wipe your eyes and say she just reminds you of an "old friend".
When you show her your other Hisuian Pokémon, she's THRILLED and wants to take all of their pictures, delighted to have proof that these creatures existed.
That leads her to ask how you acquired them, and you start talking about your adventures in the very region she's been studying...including the fact you met her ancestor who used to worship Dialga and had an easygoing attitude like her.
Girl is taking notes fr.
Together you seek out the "Bloodmoon Beast", only to discover that it was an Ursaluna who travelled alllll the way to Kitakami from Hisui, the environment causing it to change appearances and abilities.
You were fascinated, wondering what Lord Ursaluna or Calaba would think of him, and made him a member of your team after quelling his rage.
While going on more casual photoshoots with Perrin, you ask her about what Sinnoh is like now or if anyone there knew about Hisui.
She mentions how the elderly folk talk of it, and how the subway battle system was being run by one conductor due to the other going missing...
You find yourself holding your breath---until she says "oh but apparently he came back like yesterday" and you were SO relieved.
'Ingo made it back home, too. Thank you Arceus.'
She plans to invite you to Sinnoh someday, seeing as you're so curious about what it all looks like now.
BB Academy (BBE4, Carmine, & Kieran)
When you got to study abroad at BB Academy, you...sorta forgot all the beef you had with Kieran until you saw him berating a student out in the terarium.
A year later, you're Paldea's champion AND the one who saved Hisui, but you couldn't exactly tell him the latter.
But now you understood why everyone back then calling you a "hero" made you a little uncomfortable.
Ogerpon (who was worried sick about where you've gone all this time), was SO happy to see you were back and got to meet your Hisuian Lilligant. Two plant gals just vibing together.
You find a Kleavor in the canyon biome and become a bit sentimental, happy to see a descendant of the Lord of the Woods had survived to this very day.
He must've known you were the one who helped his ancestor (albeit not without receiving some scars from flying wood chips), as he bowed and began walking alongside you, loyal to a tee.
Least to say, he became a valuable ally when you finally battled Kieran in the championship.
He sees that you've definitely changed a lot, too. You look tougher and he was concerned about where that scar across your eye came from....
But he's still obsessed with winning, and his attitude when talking about Terapagos afterwards reminds you of...well...Volo.
It's such an extreme comparison, and you hate how your brain immediately jumped to that considering that was a legitimate monster of a man who betrayed you.
Yet it feels like such a similar situation when Kieran pits the turtle against you in the Underdepths, obsessed with power and wanting nothing more than to be recognized as "worthy".
At least he wasn't planning on ending the world, just yours.
After you both reconcile, you spill the beans about where you've gone for the past year, expecting him to laugh or shun you again for keeping such a big secret from him.
Instead..he has this star-eyed look and wanted to know MORE.
So during your next visit to Kitakami, you tell him and Carmine some stories of your Hisuian adventures, showing off Kleavor and your Alpha Garchomp.
Seeing that you still liked to make authentic pokeballs and potions made Kieran appreciate you a lot more. Kitakami used to have a lot of those apricorns, tumblestones, and leeks before everything became mass-produced.
Like him, you really became out-of-touch with today's technology, so while he's learning it, you're re-learning it along with him.
Eventually you tell those same stories to the BB E4, who are all just as shocked, amazed, and bewildered as the twins were.
And when they all came to offer up a trade, you knew what to do:
For Drayton, you gave him a Goomy, insisting that he trains it fully, not wanting to spoil the "surprise".
As lazy as he is, he does so and is stunned when Sliggoo is revealed to be chilling in its own shell, and Goodra had its whole shell on its tail, capable of withdrawing into it anytime
Ngl it makes him wish he had his own shell to withdraw into just to escape situations.
For someone like Kieran who likes old-fashioned stuff, you figured a Hisuian Voltorb would suit him best.
Its appearance reminds you of the olden ways pokeballs were made, and he got the hang of crafting a few himself after a little trial and error!
He gets nervous about it exploding like Kantonian Voltorbs at the slightest touch, but is happy to find out it's super friendly and discharges just to spook humans.
As for Carmine, the sharpness in her golden eyes reminds you of a certain ghost type's...and thus you believed giving her a Hisuian Zorua was ideal. You had a feeling she'd love its evolved form.
When she does evolve it, she's stunned that it has reddish highlights like she does, jokingly asking if this is her in "another life".
Least to say, she loves it indeed.
While you were adamant about giving Amarys your Kleavor, you ended up trading her a Scyther and give her a black augurite afterwards, explaining how it's the secret to its other evolution.
She mentioned deposits of that mineral existing within the canyon biome, but it couldn't actually evolve the surrounding Scyther population due to being simulated.
But thanks to you, she gets to witness that in-action because you held onto an authentic piece of it, and she gives you her thanks.
As for Crispin, well, you believed a Hisuian Growlithe was perfect for him. It was energetic, loyal, and full of fire..just like him.
He got teary-eyed at the story you told of the late Lord Arcanine, his son, how you quelled his frenzy, etc..and feels inspired to train the pup you've given him into something incredible.
One thing Kantonian and Hisuian Arcanines have in common? They love spicy foods.
For Lacey, you trade her a Hisuian-born Petili, encouraging her to use the sun stone right away.
She does and is delighted to see Lilligant as such a graceful dancer..who really packs a punch when it counts!
She'll definitely doll her up and ensure she knew Charm (the only fairy move Hisuian Lilligant could know, alas).

So the other day I finished When I Win the World Ends
--
A couple months back, my wife recommended me a pokemon fanfic. It was not When I Win; it's called Ghost Town and it's about a young trans woman returning home and coming out to her family while simultaneously finding out her closest childhood friend has been murdered. It's beautiful, definitely the most moving piece of writing i've read this year, and also entirely unlike WIW except that both are, nominally, set in 'the pokemon universe'.
These two works are not remotely set in the same universe. Their settings are entirely different, the result of two different people taking the thing we are presented with in the pokemon video game series and asking 'OK, but what does this world actually look like?' and coming to very different answers, because it turns out that setting is not really pinned down much by the games.
Are there animals beyond human and pokemon in the world? In WIW, the answer is no, except perhaps in some parallel universe like where the Ultra Beasts come from. In GT, the answer is yes; when the pokedex calls wingull the seagull pokemon, this is because there are actual seagulls in the world for comparison.
What's the deal with all the game-like elements of pokemon battling, like taking turns and pokemon only being able to use four moves and so on? In WIW, this is a competitive ruleset; pokemon battling is a highly regulated sport, and pokemon act in turns because their trainers specifically train them to wait between moves. In GT, this is just not a thing; 'pokemon only know four moves' is an abstraction made for game design concerns, the same way the game present us with a location with three building and tells us this is a town. The 'real' Pallet Town has more people and buildings than that, and 'real' pokemon don't act like characters in a turn-based RPG.
I could go on further but I will not; you get the point. The games present us with broad strokes of a world, but it is not a world that really holds together very much; it is not a series interested in worldbuilding. Game Freak doesn't go into the question of what is the geopolitical relationship between Johto and Kanto, or what does a culture where ten-year-olds are allowed to go out on their own into the world accompanied by monsters look like, or what the hell is Cinnabar volcano burger made out of, and this leaves room for fanfic writers to step in with their own answers to these questions.
I spend a lot of time pondering these questions, perhaps more than I should, and while there are boring answers one could give sometimes writers come up with genuinely fascinating takes on it, trying to weave them together into a world that holds together while at the same time resembling a beloved video game series that cannot decide if America is real or not.
So when I finished Ghost Town and most of the other works by the same author I saw a number of people in my dash talking about this other pokemon fanfic, and it did not disappoint despite being so different and having a tragic lack of explicit trans lesbians.
I've never been much into competitive pokemon battling despite playing the actual games themselves on and off for most of my life, but the angle on that in WIW really does work as a central focus (even if it does, unforgivably, get Umbreon's ability wrong). The one thing in it that still sits oddly with me is that I cannot really get a handle on what Cely's deal is. She's not psychic, apparently (the public perception of psychics in the pokemon universe is yet another of those things WIW and GT have different opinions on). She's not some kind of fated RISE messiah, because RISE is just a cult and doesn't have any deeper insights into the nature of reality. Is she just lucky? Are we just happening to observe the one particular timeline where she got all her predictions right for no reason in particular, or was it perhaps necessary that Cely get all her calls right for us to see an outcome where the world doesn't end, anthropic-reasoning-style? If there is an answer I was supposed to get from the story, I didn't
But that's quibbles. It's an excellent work, I loved it, i'm very glad I was following people who'd talk about it often enough I gave it a shot. This is not really a review of it, though, or of Ghost Town. This is just my excuse to talk about pokemon worldbuilding and namedrop the cinnabar volcano burger.

NOW for a VERY unusual set of Fakemon, I present you Grananty and the predatory line of Eeriedescent - based on a real butterfly species and its unusual life cycle:
The Large Blue (Phengaris arion)
It's worth reading through all the Pokedex Entries one by one for this! And then go check out this video fully illustrating the life of one of Britains rarest butterflies :D
youtube
While I fully embrace the dark undertones of the Large Blue with its carnivorous caterpillar in my Fakemon designs, it's worth noting that this is in fact one of my favorite butterfly species for requiring SO many unique factors and circumstances to succeed in its evolution and I don't mean to demonize it!
Parasitic species the like are an important factor in keeping an ecosystem balanced and stable by preventing overpopulation of certain other species, so please don't grow resentful towards the Large Blue, but rather embrace the unusual butterfly for the macabre yet fascinating role it plays in nature :D

Service Pokemon Headcanons
Recent asks got me thinking about service pokemon so I thought it would be fun to write down some ideas about how I think the system works overall
Similar to real life, in order for a pokemon to be considered a service pokemon it has to be trained and certified by the region the trainer lives in. The pokemon has to wear some kind of identification, usually in the form of a vest, and the trainer needs to keep a copy of the certification on hand in case the pokemon causes trouble or disrupts those around it. However, these can and typically are digital and any Rotom phone, poketch, pokedex, etc is equipped to pull it up at the press of a button
Pokemon are classified into categories based on size: A, B, C, and D. A is any pokemon that can be safely tucked under the arm or carried in a purse / bag, B is any pokemon that can fit in the lap of an average adult, C is anything the size of or smaller than a human, and D is everything larger than that. These classifications are mostly relevant for indoor venues and accommodations: you're unlikely to have a problem with a Class A-C pokemon, but Class D pokemon are pretty unlikely to be able to fit in doors or shopping aisles and have some trouble outside of their balls. There's been a lot of controversy in the pokemon world about whether service pokemon the size of people should be charged as an extra passenger, especially since they need their own seat (the answer, btw, as a resounding "no")
Generally speaking, the types preferred for service pokemon are normal, fighting, fairy, psychic, and electric. Normal types are good all rounders, fighting types are excellent for mobility assistance, electric types shine for those with service devices, psychic types can predict accidents and have the intelligence and dexterity for complicated tasks, and fairy types are great at emotional support. Other types CAN be service pokemon, but for practicality reasons they're not as common. The inherent talents of the species is also relevant
You can get your own pokemon trained as a service pokemon, and those who become disabled later in life will often do this because of their existing bond with their partner. Thus, there are plenty of unorthodox service pokemon out there

Time for an old school blog post, Hello!
Just various updates about life and shows and clothes and some photos! Adding a read more cut because I talk too much 😊
Happy equinox everyone!! The mild weather has been wonderful for daily park walks. We have been taking our meals outside as often as we can to make the most of it before summer scorches the land and all life. The longer days allow for a lot more wandering too but the imminent return of the heat is also making the longing to move up north worse by the day. We miss the choppy ocean and seaside cliffs 😭 We love the silence and the rain and the nippy sea breeze!! it's like being suspended in early spring for half the year and a rainy autumn the other half, Ideal if you don't mind humidity, but that's what wellies and flat caps are for. We have been looking for properties to rent to show up everyday so for now we lie in wait.
Speaking of nature, a few months ago we discovered a free app called Plantnet that you use to take and upload photos of plants, trees, flowers and it will identify them for you. You keep a log with their locations and can share them too to help contribute to each local biodiversity database. It feels like a pokedex for plants. There are many apps like this one to choose from too. It's been so fun learning what all these plants are called and memorizing them! I recommend it, is like a little educational side quest to take on while stretching your legs and getting some fresh air. This is not an ad I promise lmao I just think it's neat! kind of sad feeling the need to clarify that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This weather is also making me want to start making outfit posts again! It's been so long since I made any!! my winter wardrobe is mostly long wool coats or capes and boots so the inspiration wasn't there but now I'm ready to pull out all my stuff back from under my bed storage and experiment again 👏 I've also been meaning to share some of Nicolas outfits for ages too so there is more variety, could be fun!
Speaking of clothes, lately I've grown more and more frustrated with how poorly most clothes fit me to the point where I'm considering learning how to make them from scratch. I usually have to take in the tops and hem the bottoms but most things I try on are just built weird even if I fix the size, or maybe I'm built weird! I think it may be both. Nicolas also said he would love to learn along with me so we will probably embark on that adventure soon. OH and on a short tangent, I got myself a sort of binder-like top that flattens the chest a bit and I'm loving it! I'm very flat already but what little bust I do have has always bothered me when I dress and I've found I feel a lot more comfortable in this type of top. I'm glad I tried it out so if you feel similarly you may want to give it a go too, see how it feels!
On the media side of things we have also been watching more of David Tennant's work. We are still very much in love with him to an embarrassing degree, you can probably tell if you follow me anywhere, my likes on twitter alone give me away alksjdf and Nicolas isn't any better! if he used social media his would look the same lmao.
Since my last report we have watched and absolutely LOVED "There She Goes" we already want to watch it again honestly. The family dynamics for all his characters are always so real and refreshing!! Their relationship with their wives especially are always so believable in every series we've seen, the comfort and camaraderie, the banter and just friendship! You can tell they enjoy each other's company, it feels true. I love it so much!!
We also watched "Inside man" which was..a very stressful mess but David was incredible as always, also very hot and very pitiful which is always great, and Stanley Tucci was on it! so that's also fun.
Then we rewatched season one of Good Omens and the first 4 seasons of Doctor Who, with all the extra content like the Confidentials, deleted scenes, video diaries and more, they are just so good!! our list of favourite episodes keeps growing, season four is incredible, we are loving all these seasons even more the second time around!! Now we are probably going to start watching either Classic Who or Torchwood, along with more of David's work. We were trying to pick what to watch during dinner the other day and Nicolas was like 'damn, David is not in this though, I miss him' and lmao same so now we just watch one show without him and one with him right after to cope 😂
OH we have also been doing more historical reenactment! Since the last one in the 20's we jumped back to Regency times. We have been putting our outfits together for a ball soon and hopefully another one in autumn in the UK 😊 1800 is the farthest back in time we've been yet so it's been fun doing research, finding pieces and learning the dances in class but also very hectic. I'll share more about this soon!
Tumblr media
Then we also have a couple of 1900 events coming soon, so I'll be sharing more Edwardian looks as well, our favourite era!!
Anyway I think that's all for now, thanks for reading to whoever is doing so!! I know this is long and not a popular blogging format anymore but I enjoy it a lot, maybe some of you do too 🥰 I will reply to some messages soon, I'm so sorry I'm so bad at keeping up with those!! I've read them all and cherish every word 🥺 Thank you for supporting my art and shenanigans as always!! I hope you have a great week!!

Ok so, I had a silly idea for an Au. What if Nemona was sent back in time to Hisui?
Introducing, Warden Nemona au!!! I’ve been thinking about it a lot recently so I finally decided to compile my thoughts in a post for fun!
Tumblr media
First off, how did Nemona even get sent to Hisui in the first place?
Tumblr media
By pure accident! Or at least that's what I'm going for right now lol.
A space time distortion opened up and she just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. ( I probably could somehow connect this to the story of SV considering there are some time travel shenanigans going on there. I’ll think more about this in the future. )
Her situation is much like Ingo’s though it differs in some ways.
When she landed in Hisui she was eventually found and taken in by the Diamond Clan. She has no memory of her life beforehand, except for her name.
Ok here's where it diverges from the canon story a bit. For this au I decided to add a new Noble Pokemon, a Hisuian Goodra! ( hopefully I am not breaking the lore too much with this addition lol )
Now why did I pick Goodra of all pokemon? A few reasons.
I really like Hisuian Goodra. That's it, that's the first reason lol.
There is a Alpha Hisuian Goodra in the Ancient Quarry in the Coronet Highlands. I figure this Goodra could be a noble in this au. (also this location allows for more interactions with Ingo so yay! :D)
In SV, Nemona has a Goodra on her team, so it acts as kind of a callback to that.
The biggest reason I ultimately chose Hisuan Goodra though. Take a look at its pokedex entry real quick.
Tumblr media
( screenshot from bulbapedia. Link to page here )
Ok so, the entry says that “it loathes solitude and is extremely clingy” and that it’ll be very upset if those dearest to it leave its side. And that actually kinda reminded me of Nemona. Let me explain.
In the story of SV, before she meets the player, Nemona is looking for a friend/rival to challenge her. Her passion for battling is very clear, to the point where she seems to scare away other students due to her intensity. Everyone around her is either scared of her for her abilities and/or dislikes her because her family is rich and they assume she’s a stuck up princess. In the post game dialogue with Nemona, she talks about how she feels like “There was this invisible wall between me and everyone else.” She was clearly very lonely, and just wanted to have a friend who she could connect with. So when she does meet the protag, who doesn't push her away and seems to enjoy battling like she does, she immediately tries to befriend them. She is shown to be kinda clingy, probably afraid of losing her one chance at making a real friend. ( Of course, after the events of Area Zero and Mochi Mayhem, she finally has a group of friends who understand her, so yay!!! )
TLDR: It seems that both Hisuian Goodra and Nemona have a fear of being alone and tend to act a bit clingy because of it. So symbolism!!! Yay!!!
Here is a ref sheet of the outfit I designed for Nemona ( plus some extra doodles for fun. )
Tumblr media
Ok let's move on to the actual plot of the au. I’m not gonna write everything here, just the basics, and I may change some details later on, but here's what I got! This takes place after the events of SV, and about five-ish months before Pla.
First things first, Nemona lands in the Coronet Highlands and is actually first discovered by the noble Hisuian Goodra. It is quite skittish and shy, but is intrigued by this mysterious person who had just fallen from the sky. So it comes closer. When she begins to stir however, it immediately hides in its shell, shaking nervously. Around this time, both Warden Ingo Warden Melli had seen something falling into Lord Goodras domain and they decided to check it out together. With Lady Sneaslers help, they climbed onto the top where they found Nemona, lying on the ground unconscious. Ingo immediately springs into action, suspecting that what happened to him has happened once again. He thinks they should take her to the nearest camp to get help. At first Melli wants nothing to do with this but is convinced by Ingo to help out in the end. The two end up finding Adaman and explain the situation to him. Adaman decides to bring her over to the Diamond Settlement for safety. Once again, Melli disagrees with this decision, but once again he is convinced to help out.
So that’s how she meets the Diamond Clan.
A Few notes:
Despite the amnesia, she seems to remember almost everything about pokemon. She can even recognize if a specific Pokemon looks different than one she had seen in the future. (For example, She states that she, “has never seen a Goodra with a shell before!”)
Her personality is mostly the same. She is cheerful and positive even in tough situations, which makes it easy for the other Wardens to get along with her. However, they do think she is kiiiiiiiiinda weird, because everytime she sees a new pokemon, her first reaction is “I’m gonna fight it!” Most of them are convinced that she has no survival instincts.
She, like Ingo, uses Pokeballs, making her the only member of the diamond clan to use them.
Due to her low stamina, she finds it difficult to run or climb for too long, leading her to usually sit upon Goodra’s shell while traveling.
She and Ingo get along well. Whenever they start up a conversion they will almost always start infodumping about pokemon to each other. Melli tries to avoid them at all costs.
In the story, when Lord Goodra becomes frenzied, Nemona tries to help him alone, but ends up over exerting herself and passing out for a whole day. Adaman basically forced her to leave it to Akari, so as to not hurt herself again. Nemona is glad that Akari saved the day, but feels disappointed in her own abilities and feels kinda useless for not being able to help.
She does get along with Akari though! Especially when Nemona realized how strong of a battler she was.
And that's what I’ve got so far! I’m definitely gonna work more on this in the future though. If y'all have any questions about the au feel free to ask! You can either comment on this post or through the inbox, either works!
Thanks for listening to me ramble on about my silly ideas lol. Hopefully it makes sense. Anyways, hope you enjoyed :D

TELL ME ABOUT MIMIKYU JIMMY!!!!! (please)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
PEOPLE ACTUALLY WANT TO HEAR ABOUT ME BOY LETS GOOOOO
Um. Basically. Mimkyu's whole thing is putting on a facade in order to make others like them more! WHICH IS A BASED CONCEPT. However, they also do this in order to protect others from themselves. According to the Pokémon Database, "People believe that anybody who sees its true form beneath the cloth will be stricken with a mysterious illness." These put together really reminded me of the Canary Curse- specifically how it almost transmits to his team mates, and how he often puts on a tough facade- to keep people from thinking he just the weak guy who dies first.
Plus, of course, the whole "haunted doll" aesthetic!
Tumblr media
Mimkyu's true form is, for the most part, unknown. They instead disguse themselves as a friendly Pikachu, in a handmade costume. All that is known about their body is that it is small enough to fit under their rag, and their arms look like shadows. The face is drawn on in a cruel mockery of the life form it mimicks. The friendly yellow and red of the Pikcachu, here, is washed out into sepia tones: oranges, beiges, and browns.
Lets do a little list!
Small
Orange and brown tones, maybe getting into golds
Mimicking the form of a living life form
Rough, handcrafted
These are all things that can be associated with Jimmy's Sheriff persona. We also see more of the facade in that role he plays, too! He is usually very chill and maybe even silly when around his friends, but the second they remind him, he snaps back into that part- usually in time for them to make jokes or steal something important.
Oh, yes- stealing something important. His hat. This might be a reach, but hats can be used to cover faces- the only real part of him that was still exposed in his Sheriff getup. Even if it didn't fully cover it, he could raise his bandana so only his eyes show- just like Mimkyu.
Along with this, how Mimkyu is normally portrayed. Deathly alone, maybe stuck in a small, cage like room. Constantly hiding, constantly striving to reach something and be someone they think very one wants them to be.
AND!!! AND THEY ARE BOTH ASSOCIATED WITH DEATH!!!!
Ahem. Sorry.
Along with everything else I've pointed out so far the majority of the Pokedex descriptions from the games are also incredibly reminiscent of the Toy Sheriff's demeanor and background.

The second screen shot specifically is taken from the descriptions of the "Busted form", where it's neck is broken. What caught my eye were the lines about "merciless revenge", keeping up its impersonation despite its cover being blown, "unharmed but still sad", "crying inside". Those reminded me of Jimmy's villain arc (yet another example of facades). Despite all the evidence pointing to him being a toy, he kept up what he was saying, and lashed out at those who broke down his disguise.
Now, I want to mention Mimkyu's first game introduction- at least, in Pokémon Sun. You enter the abandoned Thrifty Megamart, a hotspot for ghost Pokémon activity, and see a Pikachu running around out of the corner of your eye. You dismiss this as just you seeing things, and continue- but see it more and more. Finally, you see the Pikachu run through a door into a backroom, and you follow itn confused. The backroom is dark, dingy, decidedly untouched- and pinned on the walls are photo upon photo upon photo of Pikachu's. You take out your pokefinder and scan the room, desperate to find the last ghost Pokémon and get out of this place. On the view screen, you see... something. It's decidedly not a Pikachu, and when you take the photo out of instinct, it makes a screech that is terrifyingly human sounding, like it's trying so hard to talk to you.

My conclusion?

They are the same. I rest my case.
