it's time for my yearly chanukah merchandise ratings! how are there always so many to choose from. as always, this year is a doozy and I am as bitter as ever lmao

If you ever catch yourself wondering hey, why doesn't this TV show ratings chart square with my memory of how things actually went down, it's because in the vast majority of cases, when a show goes off the rails, the ratings don't take a dive immediately.

First they have to burn through the established audience's "wait, maybe they're going somewhere with this" optimism, then they have to burn through the established audience's "maybe it's just a mid-season slump" benefit of the doubt, then they have to burn through the established audience's "well, there aren't that many episodes left" morbid curiosity, and only then do the viewership numbers suddenly fall off a cliff.

It actually takes a lot of work to alienate your entire viewership in one go – mere mediocrity isn't gonna cut it!

I was only recently made aware of this Mozilla tool that came out last year and it's great. In a nutshell, Fakespot can analyze reviews from popular shopping sites (amazon, ebay, walmart, shopify sites, sephora, and best buy are featured as supported) and figure out the most likely "real" ratings by identifying bot ratings. It uses AI to do this but it's run on their servers, not your computer (a good use of AI for once).

You can install browser extensions or use the app. The iOS app is kinda lousy from my experience but the site works great.

Could you please weigh in on how physical crafts are scored for Artfight? It feels like they're undervalued for the time it takes to make them, but that's speaking as someone who predominantly does cross-stitching and other fabric and thread crafting. Thanks!

We do not wish to publicize our scoring multipliers due to fear of abuse, though we did not update our rating system this year due to being short on time. I can certainly make note of this for the team for future discussions, though!

i'm doing this because my lips are constantly chapped for no reason (i've used every fucking lip gloss in the house only God can help me now), and I'm looking for someone to relate to

Sophie would score nothing less than a 1. Of course, she'd always maintain a skincare routine and never let anything happen to her face. It's one of her most persuasive assets after all.

Rhian would score a 2-3. I'm convinced he would reach Sophie levels of vanity on other occasions, but he is more preoccupied by romance than self-care, and also has a demanding, time-consuming job, so he might slack in his routines, sometimes leaving himself vulnerable to the cold.

Tedros would score a 4. He has well-established grooming habits. Yet, even if he is vain, I'd expect he would be outdoors more than his two aforementioned rivals would be, and thus, he'd have somewhat chapped lips. He probably would think makeup or the "overuse" of makeup and other cosmetic treatments too feminine for him though.

Rafal could score an 8 or possibly higher. He cares less about his appearance, depending on context and on which characterization of his we're dealing with. He's as cold as a corpse and in dry, cold weather, well, he could be affected, even as the Storian constantly repairs his dry lips or cracks in his hands, just from staying outside for too long. I don't think he would be outside for incredibly long stretches though, considering he has an indoor, academic/administrative job.

Agatha would score a 10. Sorry. I believe given her witchy upbringing, she'd believe herself weather-resistant and think she has a good immune system. She'd put little stock into her appearance and would just bundle up and get out of doors without much heed, if only to collect toads and salamanders to save them by bringing them inside. Tedros and the Camelot ladies-in-waiting would constantly chase after her, to ensure she's dressed properly for the weather, and chastise her about wearing make-up when she leaves the castle, even though she's sure to tell them off.

Yeah, I agree with you. My lips are chapped, and I haven't even been outside much lately. It's so cold and dry where I live. And I just had a dental procedure which made the dryness worse.

Resident Evil 2 (1998)

9/10 Iconic, I like the hair too. Solid, not much to say about him.

Resident Evil 4 (2005)

7.5/10 Very simple, not bad at all. His face looks swollen lol. The best part is the iconic jacket. I know people would disagree with this rating.

Resident Evil The Darkside Chronicles (Operation Javier) (2009)

8/10 An upgrade from his RE4 face, very “pretty boy” type. I don’t know how to feel about the fit, but it’s not that bad.

Resident Evil 6 (2012)

9.8/10 This version grew on me a lot since the first time I saw it. I think this might be my fave outfit of his. I love the purple shirt and black vest combo. He looks very good but I’m not really a fan of the 5 o’ clock shadow, so that’s why I’m not giving him a 10. I do like the hair though.

Resident Evil 2 (2019)

9.5/10 A great redesign overall. His hair looks a bit weird, but other than that he’s fine. I like the muted dark blue, but I prefer the saturated version.

RE2 Alternative outfit: Original, Noir, Ranger (2019)

Original 10+/10 Straight out of the ‘90s. What a slay! I love everything about this. Maybe this is actually my fave Leon outfit (or it might be a tie with RE6)

Noir 10/10 Everything from the outfit to the hairstyle is great. For once, we see him without the emo bangs lol

Ranger 5/10 It’s just mid, I don’t care about it.

Resident Evil 4 (2023)

8.5 maybe 9/10 Definitely mainstream opinion, but he looks very good, maybe better than RE6 idk. Surely an improvement from og RE4 imo, but the outfit is still giving nothing. Once again, the jacket is the best part.

RE4 Alternative outfits: Pinstripe, Casual, Romantic (2023)

Pinstripe 5+/10 I’m sorry but I’m not a fan of gangster Leon. It’s not the worst though.

Casual 5.5 maybe 6/10 I would rate him higher if he wasn’t wearing those ugly sneakers and skinny jeans. I love the bomber jacket but it’s not enough to redeem this fit.

Romantic 7+/10 More like vampire Leon. He looks good, not so sure how I feel about the hair though.

RE4 Alternative outfits: Villain, Hero (2023)

Villain 1/10 I don’t understand this nor do I want to. I dislike everything about this from the hair to the weird feather jacket. Idk what capcom was smoking when they were designing this.

Hero 5/10 He gets an extra point just for the hair. He looks like Puss in Boots if he was in the Witcher idk.
