I will say that the mourn watch background makes so much sense of rook's occasional social awkwardness. this poor fucker had really barely ever been outside before when they were kicked out from home for shenanigans and varric adopted them like a puppy slash poor little meow meow because they reminded him so much of hawke when they were young ssssh that's my headcanon. what's more they were raised by a bunch of fifth house style freaks (affectionate) who also had never been outside before. as baby jesus was laid in a manger baby rook was laid in a coffin. as baby moses was found in the bullrushes, baby rook was found among the shin bones. they may have glimpsed normalcy before once on a sunny day, but only about three degrees removed and around a corner.

considering their circumstances and previous life experiences I think they're doing great at social interactions actually don't worry sweetie you're doing amazing, realizing most people get a bit nervous if you talk too much about skulls and bone saws around them is a great first step! a joke not landing with your audience here and there is detail work we can fine tune at another time let's get some of these fundamentals in place first <- me and varric encouraging them as they're stepping into this brand new world

I kind of wish Hiori would actually give up football and the whole Blue Lock. Don't get me wrong, I love this character, I love the panels with him, and I was really happy when he committed to his game in the last chapter.

Throughout chapter 237, he kept saying he was going to quit football.

And let him do it if he really wants to.

He will find something for himself, not something he will do because of the talent he has or someone like his parents. If he wants, let him resign.

Because no one gives up on Blue Lock and such a representation would be really good in this series.

If someone leaves Blue Lock, it's because they were kicked out, not because it was their decision.

Even Nagi, who initially didn't care about football and didn't really want to participate in this program, later became really involved in this sport.

And throughout the entire manga, there wasn't a single character who left on their own. It doesn't really have to be Hiori (although he has reasons to do so), but it would be interesting if there was at least one character in this series who thought: "What am I doing here? This is not the place for me, I don't want to be here. I'm fed up, I'm quitting."

From the very beginning, Blue Lock was different from other sports manga because it questions cooperation and boycotts the belief in the power of friendship (which we had confirmation in this chapter again):

So it would be good if finally a character decided that this sport is not for them and they want to resign.

Because sports manga very rarely allows characters to quit.

Injury? This is not a reason to give up sports completely! A devastating defeat? It's not worth giving up, you have to keep fighting! Lack of heart for the game or bad motivation that started your sports career? You will surely love this sport over time!

But that's not always the case in real life. People give up. People are fed up. They don't have to do something against their will.

It's the same with talent. If you're good at something, do you really have to do it? Because talent will be wasted? What does it matter if you really hate what you're good at?

I'm glad that Nagi finally found something in football that excites him. But again, if a character in Blue Lock is good at football but really hates it, let's just let them stop playing. After all, not everyone will eventually be convinced to take up this sport.

So if there's a character in Blue Lock who gives up on it all, I'll take them into my arms and hug them tight.

Because being a quitter is human.

Responding to your response to my anon. I'm sorry for assuming. I just know I've sent confessions here a few times complaining about the ableism in this community. I'm a schizospec P-DID system & auDHD + cluster-b. I've been at the end of a lot of ableist abuse from other "proshippers," or I've been hurt by vague ableist statements made by other proshippers.

I can't recall if the few vents I made about ableism and abuse in the community were ever posted, and I took a hiatus from Tumblr and social media altogether. I figured I was one of those people who you refused to post/wanted to delete the confessions of.

That example that you replied with very much reads like an anti trying to troll. If these are the "confessions" you're getting, then you 100% reserve the right to delete those, and like I said, I think it should be case by case then. Bad faith anons get deleted. Actual concerns get posted.

I was referring to your comment/reply to someone else where you said these people should go to antiship blogs, which was why I got upset. And yes, I've seen a lot of similar shitty sentiments that I thought you were saying initially. I've had other proshippers tell me I'm not a proshipper then or that I should be anti-aligned if I really have so many issues with how some of the proship community behaves. I've been kind of on the fence on whether or not I want to consider myself a proshipper, neutral shipper, or just give myself an anti-ableism profiction microlabel. I'm definitely an anti-anti, but I've felt out of place in proship spaces. It's exhausting, and I'm sorry for thinking that you were doing the same thing.

It’s okay. I can kinda understand where you’re coming from and why that kinda thing could’ve stressed you out, especially if you took a hiatus and didn’t see any posts on my blog of people’s complaints about similar situations.

Especially considering I’ve gotten asks (that got anons blocked) about how “delusional” antis are and even one from someone about their theory that antis are having mass religious psychosis???
