I just found myself cutting up a soda six-pack holder so the dolphins or fish or turtles or whatever wouldn't get caught in the rings and I don't think this is even necessary anymore. Christ I'm old.

AITA for letting my cat play with her new toy?
I was brushing my cat... And collecting all the fur to throw out later ... and it turned into a ball ... and turns out she likes playing with it...
Tumblr media
AITA for letting her keep her own fur in a ball for her toy?
Okay, this does not technically meet the criteria for a postable submission because it's absolutely nonsensical to think you'd be the asshole for this--but it's like 4 AM and I've had a rough week and you've submitted an utterly delightful gif, so I'm letting both of us have this one. Everyone please enjoy the cat zoomies

i don’t think people give ciel nearly enough credit when it comes to his emotional intelligence/how self-aware he is.
like, yeah— ciel is a brat, he’s a stuck up little privileged rich kid, he’s pampered and spoiled and struggles massively when he’s forced to live without the luxuries he’s always grown up with. but he also recognizes that, in a way that is actually quite mature for someone of his age and class. he’s cynical, he’s pessimistic, he has incredible little (if any) respect or hope for humanity left— but this is something he applies to himself and the others at his same social standing just as much as anyone else, if not more. he clearly connects and empathizes with finny (and honestly all of his servants) because he sees himself within him, trusting him like a (his) brother during the emerald witch arc. he understands where joker is coming from with regards to his desperation to take care of his family and doesn’t pass judgement on him, to the point of even planning to take care of the very family he thought he’d left behind after joker dies. he even seems to have some degree of genuine respect for lizzie, assuaging her insecurities by trying to see her for who she is and not who she wants to be or feels like she must be.
honestly, i think that in most of the cases where ciel is being a full on Brat™ it all goes back to one thing— ciel trying to asset his Power, and take back control over the situation.
ciel is a character who is very very very easily underestimated at first glance by most people who have just met him, and even a few people who know him longer than that. he’s literally a sickly victorian child with asthma and CPTSD-motivated panic attacks, the kid is frail as fuck, not to mention— a kid. the fact that ciel might have something of an inferiority complex is obvious enough even if you don’t bring the whole lesser-twin thing into it, his minute stature is something literally every fucking character brings up upon first meeting him.
sometimes, ciel can use this to his advantage, so he does. he puts on the cute little boy face and flutters his eyelashes and uses other peoples’ empathy against them to achieve his own goals (see: arthur, and also like the entire public school arc, etc.).
most of the time though, ciel doesn’t really want to do this, not only because it’s somewhat demeaning but also because he Does have a reputation to uphold. ciel needs to constantly be both on guard and on the attack for his job as the queen’s watchdog, he is basically obligated to constantly stand as the biggest threat in the underworld. much of ciel’s Brat behavior to other people comes down to this— him asserting his status, not really out of any pride for the title, but because he is a Threat and other people need to fucking know it. sometimes, this means shoving his (and sebastian’s) power in their face until they get the fucking picture and/or die trying to understand it, particularly in the case of more asshole-ish characters like all the random evil businessmen with criminal agendas that ciel puts through the evil haunted demon house schtick. other times, this manifests more in the form of a kind of genuine empathy— you Should get the fuck away if you actually care about the things you claim to care about cuz i will not hold back, etc.
speaking of— in the case of sebastian specifically, the fact that this is ciel’s desire to take back agency becomes even more clear.
sebastian and ciel’s dynamic is one of, if not the most compelling aspects of this series to me, in large part because of how goddamn codependent they are while simultaneously being inherently at odds with one another. this series Will end with sebastian eating ciel’s goddamned soul— i honestly think that even if the rest of the cast eventually becomes more aware of the specifics of sebastian’s demonic nature or their contract, ciel himself will stop them from trying to save him or break the deal somehow, and sebastian himself certainly doesn’t have nearly enough of an attachment to humanity as a whole to bother actually stopping himself from chowing down, even if he may regret it somewhat more than he expected afterwards. yet at the same time, right up until we reach that exact point, they have every reason to need and want to collaborate with each other— something that they do, even if it is with full knowledge of the exact sword hanging over their heads the entire time that they’re playing nice.
i really love the analysis from this post, which points out the fact that all of the three core rules ciel establishes for their contract are perfectly designed to turn sebastian into someone that ciel can trust. highly recommend reading that essay, but to elaborate a bit more in my own words— ciel knows that sebastian is going to eat him one day. he is incredibly physically fragile and aware of this, perhaps even aware of the ways in which he has been made mentally weak due to his traumas, and especially of the fact that he is vulnerable specifically in comparison to sebastian. every single time that sebastian saves ciel, it is another reminder that This is who ciel is going to die to. he is chained to this starving, rabid monster just as much as the monster is chained to him, and one day, those roles are going to flip. he’s not going to be in power forever, and he knows it.
therefore: when ciel is a Brat™ at sebastian specifically, i read this less as ciel actually being unaware/childish/stupid/etc., and more as ciel tugging on the proverbial chain to make sure he is still the one pulling the strings. ciel has a habit of emphasizing the fact that he is Ordering sebastian when he is in a stressful situation or panicking for any given reason, focusing on the language that he Knows sebastian will respond to. and it’s a trauma response. IT’S A TRAUMA RESPONSE!!
what i think ciel Hates, above all else, maybe even more than he cares to consciously admit, is not having power. he can’t stand to not be the one in full control of a situation. he can’t stand having his agency taken from him, not after Everything that he’s been through.
if there’s one thing that watching his entire family be killed while also being viciously abused by a cult taught (not) ciel, it is the feeling of having No power. he was helpless to stop his parents’ murders, he was helpless to stop the cult from violating and abusing him, he was helpless to stop his own brother’s death. ciel connects more easily and often more deeply on an emotional level with the lower class characters in the story because he knows what it feels like to be completely powerless in the face of the absolute worst of humanity. thus, when ciel acts like a Brat, when he asserts his title as an Earl, someone Respectable, or as The Queen’s Watchdog, someone Threatening, when he demands that everyone bend over backwards to serve his will— it is ciel taking back all the power that he can and gripping it as tightly as he possibly fucking can, because he knows what can and will happen if/when he lets it all go.
and there is no character for which this is more true than sebastian. one of the most powerful entities in the series, easily the one closest to ciel, who he depends on so incredibly— but who is also Destined and Required to bring his end once all this is over. ciel kicks sebastian around, treats him like shit and shows him rare moments of kindness and care, all for the affirmation that He is still in control. absolutely nobody can ever meaningfully hurt ciel again, so long as sebastian is there— and sebastian won’t hurt him either. not yet. but, instinctively, he needs to keep testing that bond. just in case. just to be sure.
honestly, i think that’s where the real tragedy of the series comes from— ciel never really grows, never really changes, because he Can’t. he guaranteed that for himself. at his absolute lowest point, ciel lost all faith in humanity and god and Himself. he lost his childhood naïveté, and the ability to believe in goodness in any form. ciel knows that one day, he’s going to be hurt again, that someone is going to snatch him up and chew him alive— all he wants now is the control to dictate for himself when that inevitable end will happen.
#astronaut rambles#kuroshits#ciel phantomhive#black butler#kuroshitsuji#HE GAVE UP FROM THE BEGINNING!!! 🎉🎉#honestly. the fact that so many of the recent arcs have revolved around#1. two of ciel’s biggest most vocal and richest Supporters turning their backs on him and/or actively hating him (lizzie + soma)#and 2. ciel’s acceptance of the finality of death being so Brutally tested#really makes all of this interesting too#i think ciel tries to shy away from human connection cuz he knows that he can’t ever truly control people#(and also cuz they’re the biggest source of potential pain maybe? humans are cruel etc. etc.)#but. i mean it’s funny ofc he ends up having incredibly deep personal connections regardless of that#sigh. oh my dear hateful son#even gave up your own name for all of this shit. you never really respected yourself huh 😔#anyways. wrote all this at 2-3am#the yapplestorms ‘writing more the more tired i am’ habit strikes again#long post#also: nobody asked. but#this is why i don’t think sebastian pressuring ciel into sex is all that realistic to canon#if anything it’d be like. ciel pressuring himself into it even when it makes him incredibly uncomfortable lmfao#sebastian might tease but as time goes on the limits of how far he’s willing to go become more clear#at the very least he still wants ciel to be entertaining and breaking him mentally kinda goes against that#note that sebastian does the same kind of testing when it comes to making sure ciel is keeping up his end of the contract#he pokes at ciel’s motivations when he’s at one of his most vulnerable points to make sure the dedication to revenge is still Pure n Steady#fuck. they really do match each other’s freak to an insane degree huh LOL#could also write more about the parallels between how current ciel is codependent w/ his brother vs. sebastian but eh. another time#tl;dr there's a reason why he takes the name Ciel and always asserts Ciel's power (hint: he doesnt respect himself!! screaming at the choir#sebaciel#eh yeah might as well tag that too

From Bowl to Biceps: Choosing the Best Oats for Muscle Building | Pure Habit
When it comes to muscle building, diet plays as crucial a role as your time in the gym. Among the various superfoods out there, oats have carved a niche for themselves as a powerhouse for fitness enthusiasts. But what makes oats so effective, and how do you choose the best oats for muscle building? Let’s dive in.
Why Oats for Muscle Building?
Oats are a rich source of complex carbohydrates, providing sustained energy for those intense workout sessions. They are also packed with protein, fiber, and essential vitamins like B-complex, which aid in energy metabolism. Moreover, oats help maintain stable blood sugar levels, making them a perfect pre- or post-workout meal.
Choosing the Best Oats
Not all oats are created equal. To find the best oats for muscle building, opt for minimally processed varieties like rolled oats or steel-cut oats. These retain their nutrient profile better than instant oats, ensuring you get the most out of your bowl.
For those looking to bulk up, consider trying Pure Habit Oats, a trusted brand offering high-quality oats that align with your fitness goals. Known for their purity and nutrient-packed content, Pure Habit Oats are among the best oats in India for weight gain. Their wholesome goodness makes them a favorite choice for both beginners and seasoned fitness enthusiasts.
How to Incorporate Oats into Your Diet
The versatility of oats allows you to get creative in the kitchen. Here are a few ideas:
Pre-Workout Meal: Combine oats with milk, banana, and a dollop of peanut butter for a quick energy boost.
Post-Workout Fuel: Mix cooked oats with whey protein, almond butter, and berries for muscle recovery.
High-Calorie Snack: Make overnight oats with yogurt, honey, and nuts to support weight gain goals.
Conclusion
Building muscle isn’t just about lifting weights; it’s also about feeding your body the right nutrients. Including the best oats for muscle building in your diet can significantly enhance your fitness journey. If you’re in India, give Pure Habit Oats a try—they might just be the secret ingredient you need for those gains!
Fuel your muscles, stay consistent, and watch your biceps grow—one bowl at a time!

Cookie Run AU Ideas #1 (or 2? Does the Herb Archer one count?): Crispia Academy
A school AU where all the cookies are students! The ancients are the teachers, and the students start to notice something...odd, about them. Such as the Mr Cacao's slip-ups where he starts using old slang no one recognises! Or when Ms Hollyberry started a rant about royal politics during a class when a student mentioned it, one swears that Hollyberry had a real shield. Ms Cheese's jewellery seems a bit too luxurious and Angel once mentioned that they saw Ms Cheese fly! But surely not, right? Magic doesn't exist, and people with wings can glide at most. Gardener Pure Vanilla is rumoured to actually be the principal, who has a love for tending to the plants around the school. The stories he tells are weirdly consistent and too detailed to be just stories. He often speaks of the characters while looking sad, or wistful...not to mention his odd habit of referring to people as "cookie". It hasn't happened a lot, but, weirdly, it happened more than once. And the school is apparently haunted at night, with eyes that watch from all the shadows. No one has managed to prove that yet.
The new students are strange too. After a visit from a guest no one recognised, some guy named Wind-something started to attend the school. Followed shortly by another student, who was eccentric and hot-headed.
The school's conspiracy club is never quiet.
OR
The Ancients are immortal, watching the cookies they knew succumb to time and the world change around them. Since there are few immortals around, they all end up meeting and become somewhat acquainted with each other. Cookies were no longer recognised as "Cookies", and magic was forgotten. It would never completely fade, though. Not with the elementals, who continued to watch the world. White Lily Cookie separated from them again, remaining by the Silver Tree as its new guardian. She needed to keep the remaining beasts contained, after all. They still keep in touch, whether it is through occasional tea or through the new electronics. Pure Vanilla Cookie eventually decided to open up a school, and his friends joined him as teachers. It was a surprise when centuries later, the reincarnations of the cookies they knew slowly started to attend. Millennial Tree Cookie even asked Wind Archer Cookie to disguise himself as a student! And with the wind, fire will always follow.
If there is one thing that has been created since the past that Pure Vanilla Cookie was thankful for, it is therapy. While they can't go to a therapist and just dump centuries worth of trauma onto some poor cooki- person, Pure Vanilla can most definitely take up the subject himself. He'd do anything to help his friends.

"[Elizabeth Woodville's] piety as queen seems to have been broadly conventional for a fifteenth-century royal, encompassing pilgrimages, membership of various fraternities, a particular devotion to her name saint, notable generosity to the Carthusians, and the foundation of a chantry at Westminster after her son was born there. ['On other occasions she supported planned religious foundations in London, […] made generous gifts to Eton College, and petitioned the pope to extend the circumstances in which indulgences could be acquired by observing the feast of the Visitation']. One possible indicator of a more personal, and more sophisticated, thread in her piety is a book of Hours of the Guardian Angel which Sutton and Visser-Fuchs have argued was commissioned for her, very possibly at her request."
-J.L. Laynesmith, "Elizabeth Woodville: The Knight's Widow", Later Plantagenet and Wars of the Roses Consorts: Power, Influence, Dynasty
#historicwomendaily#elizabeth woodville#my post#friendly reminder that there's nothing indicating that Elizabeth was exceptionally pious or that her piety was 'beyond purely conventional'#(something first claimed by Anne Crawford who simultaneously claimed that Elizabeth was 'grasping and totally lacking in scruple' so...)#EW's piety as queen may have stood out compared to former 15th century predecessors and definitely stood out compared to her husband#but her actions in themselves were not especially novel or 'beyond normal' and by themselves don't indicate unusual piety on her part#As Laynesmith's more recent research observes they seem to have been 'broadly conventional'#A conclusion arrived at Derek Neal as well who also points out that in general queens and elite noblewomen simply had wider means#of 'visible material expression of [their] personal devotion' - and also emphasizes how we should look at their wider circumstances#to understand their actions (eg: the death of Elizabeth's son George in 1479 as a motivating factor)#It's nice that we know a bit about Elizabeth's more personal piety - for eg she seems to have developed an attachment to Westminster Abbey#It's possible her (outward) piety increased across her queenship - she undertook most of her religious projects in later years#But again - none of them indicate the *level* of her piety (ie: they don't indicate that she was beyond conventionally pious)#By 1475 it seems that contemporaries identified Cecily Neville as the most personally devout from the Yorkist family#(though Elizabeth and even Cecily's sons were far greater patrons)#I think people also assume this because of her retirement to Westminster post 1485#which doesn't work because 1) we don't actually know when she retired? as Laynesmith says there is no actual evidence for the traditional#date of 12 February 1487#2) she had very secular reasons for retiring (grief over the death of her children? her lack of dower lands or estates which most other#widows had? her options were very limited; choosing to reside in the abbey is not particularly surprising. it's a massive and unneeded jump#to claim that it was motivated solely by piety (especially because it wasn't a complete 'retirement' in the way people assume it was)#I think historians have a habit of using her piety as a GOTCHA!' point against her vilification - which is a flawed and stupid argument#Elizabeth could be the most pious individual in the world and still be the pantomime villain Ricardians/Yorkists claim she was#They're not mutually exclusive; this line of thinking is useless#I think this also stems from the fact that we simply know very little about Elizabeth as an individual (ie: her hobbies/interests)#certainly far less than we do for other prominent women Margaret of Anjou; Elizabeth of York;; Cecily Neville or Margaret Beaufort#and I think rather than emphasizing that gap of knowledge her historians merely try to fill it up with 'she was pious!'#which is ... an incredibly lackluster take. I think it's better to just acknowledge that we don't know much about this historical figure#ie: I do wish that her piety and patronage was emphasized more yes. but it shouldn't flip too far to the other side either.

I bought a little sample of this perfume and I'm testing it on my skin today at work. I'm just fascinated by it.
I love me a very literal scent.
I don't like when perfumers describe one thing, but then I sniff it, and it's more like such a hodge podge of pretty florals that I'm supposed to interpret as a story. When I read "metallic" in the notes, I want to smell metal, not citruses that I'm told evoke metal. But I am used to little disappointments of scents being more interpretative and less literal. A lot of notes that I want so badly to smell like are things that most perfume shoppers would be disgusted or infuriated by. I understand making something more mass appealing, at the end the of the day, people who compose perfume likely want to make as many people happy with their scents as possible (and maybe even make a little profit). I've come to expect it.
But this scent, ooooooooh. They described it as being an ode to the pinball arcade. Predominately a lime cola scent with the smell of cool steel and waxed wood floors. And hey, I'm constantly on the hunt for metal scents. And as a side quest, I kinda want a nice cola soda scent. So I figured I'd give it a shot.
This scent has got me obsessed. It's not balanced in the way I was expecting or hoping for, but in having it's own unique spin, it's become something just magical on my skin.
What I was expecting: mostly a strong cola smell. Hint of lime. Steel being the second most dominate note, given that the name is "Multiball". Waxed wood floors being a whisper of a fantasy accord to tie it all together and make the scent more appealing to most folk, balancing out the sweetness and the coldness of the steel. I was honestly just expecting it to be a creamy sandalwood undertone.
What I actually got: The exact scent of my Mom polishing the lanes at the bowling alley she used to work at when I was a kid. It's such a specific smell. It's hardwood floors and whatever that grease they use is. It smells spot on to when she'd have to get out that big ass buffer machine.
youtube
Then there's the cola note, just like her job too. It's cola out of the machine that's only going to stay well carbonated for like six minutes before going nearly flat. The syrup content is too high, something's wrong with the ratios their machine puts out for sodas, but I actually prefer it that way. It makes the soda taste richer, deeper, almost excessively flavorful. This is the second strongest note, it's always noticable but never more powerful than the greased wood lanes. Sweet but not cloying.
There's the smallest hints of lime and steel in the background. They mingle together in such a way that at least makes me get why so many things with listed metals end up just being funky citrus. It works in a way that makes me happy though, I smell both lime and steel, not just limes being odd. They're intertwined.
I love this. It's so insanely nostalgic for me. It smells sooooooooo nice.
My main concern is that I can tell that this scent could be really off-putting to others. It's almost entirely bowling alley grease. I do wonder what people would think of me if they smelled this on me all the time. Usually the "unpleasant smells" I'm looking are just ones that don't bring to mind notions of traditional perfumery and that I think smell really good, but this could potentially be far more divisive. I don't know if everyone thinks that's a good smell.
The other thing is the price point. I'm broke and cheap so I know I'm not the demographic most perfumers are aiming towards, even indie brands. I want people to get paid for their art, paid fairly, and so I don't want to imply people should lower their prices (once again, especially indie brands because a lot of them are one-man-operations). But this brand is simply out of my price range in this current stage in my life. $120 for a 50 ml is probably generally considered a good price, but it's steep for where I'm at. That's $2.40 an ml, if I did my math right. There's a $45 size option that's 15 ml, but that still doesn't sit right with me at $3 an ml for a perfume who's staying power seems to be about 4 hours with no reapplication. I just can't afford it when I'm still battling with paying for my medication.
But damn, it brought me joy. I'm gonna devour the entirety of the decant and I'll miss it when it's empty.
TDLR; Really good weird perfume. Smells exactly like the bowling alley my Mom worked at in my tweens. A lil pricey for me, but probably a reasonable price because it's just one gal doing all the work and she should get paid. I feel conflicted about buying a bigger size but it compels the fuck out of me.

I always found that sweet how a lot of the time in TLG Med would jump to reassure Khadgar or even apologize after snapping at him
And yet in some ways the cruelest thing Medivh said to Khadgar in my opinion was correcting him when he called Karazhan “Our Tower.” And reminding him he was there at his whim and he could send him away at any time.
And he never did apologize for that one and honestly I don’t really blame Med for that per se? It is his tower and Khadgar can’t tell him who is allowed there. What I mean is going by JUST the power dynamic they have as mentor-apprentice, Khadgar is absolutely out of line there
In some ways could have come off quite spoiled and entitled but the thing is I don’t think that was the case at all.
He’s become so comfortable in Karazhan he’d started thinking of it as his home. Then Medivh has in one conversation reminded him it very much was not his home and he could send him away at anytime if he so wished it
He’d finally found someone who cared about him, respected him and treated him as a person. He found a place where he felt he belonged for once in his life and…
No wonder he was so jealous of Garona for a while after that. He’d been reminded that all of it could be taken from him at any moment and here was someone stealing his Master’s attention.
Just thinking about how that jealousy so obviously comes with feeling like he’s not enough and insecurity about his place in Med’s life.
Just very interesting how I think it could very well have went over Med’s head as not that big of a deal too? One of those things he’d be like huh oh yeah I said that? Meanwhile Khadgar is spiraling about it
He could of also been absolutely aware of how harsh it was because Medivh does lash out like that on occasion (especially towards the end of the book as Sargeras gets harder and harder to fight) he can be a little shit we know this
(Don’t really blame him for that given being possessed by the demon lord Sargeras is probably just a teensy bit tiring /s)
Also seen valid and honestly very possibly canon interpretations where he’s also trying to push Khadgar away cuz he knows what’s coming and what Khadgar is going to have to do.
The more attached to him he is the more difficult it will be for Khadgar to do what needs to be done.
What better way to push someone away then hit them right where it hurts?
And yet even then I think those words hurt Khadgar deeper than he’ll ever know :(
#wow blogging#angst angst baby#something something power dynamics and Med inadvertently enforcing it there when he also ironically often tries to make their relationship#there’s some interesting scenes where Med does reinforce it because well they ARE mentor and apprentice#but also how he also seems to want it to be more than a formal/professional relationship and tries to encourage that#I think that’s one of the reasons he corrects Khadgar for calling him Master or sir or whatever#less formal and more equal#jokes about Khadgar totally having a kink aside#(I could talk forever about how I think Khadgar calling him Master is actually really sweet and I think it comes from a different place#than Med thinks it does)#how the title is actually very meaningful to Khadgar I think#and in some ways it shows the same level of affection that Medivh calling him Young Trust does#I don’t think Med realizes that though and he’s just like hey chill you don’t gotta call me that#and Khadgar just instinctually keeps doing it (even DECADES later it Outland he refers to him as his Master)#there’s something to be said I suppose for how it could be pure habit from growing up in the environment he did#but I like to think it’s..deeper then that#(he also does totally have a kink for it but that’s besides the point here)#(don’t get me started on how most of my headcanon kinks for him to stem from his issues with self worth and fear of abandonment)#love playing with power dynamics okay#they are so interesting#how do you balance it all#lines slowly blurring in the mentor apprentice relationship as it becomes more than that#because they do very much care for another obviously#no matter how you interpret their relationship#absolutely rife with angst potential honestly#….#no i shan’t say#raventrust
