Complaining to Allah ﷻ does not contradict patience. If a person is in difficulty and complains and turns to Allah ﷻ for assistance is an act of worship.
قَالَ إِنَّمَآ أَشْكُوا۟ بَثِّى وَحُزْنِىٓ إِلَى ٱللَّه..
He (Yaqub a.s) replied, “I complain of my anguish and sorrow only to Allah.." 12:86
However, what contradicts patience is complaining to the creation.

When I think of Sabr, I think of Yaqub عليه السلام and the qissah of Surah Yusuf. And I think its because I've always resonated with the way Allah سبحانه و تعالى shows us through his prophet that the method of observing patience, may not necessarily look the same for everyone. Yaqub عليه السلام went blind from his tears of grief, Subhan'Allah, and yet he still carried the purest form of Hope in his heart. He trusted His Lord's Plan knowing his complaints were only heard by Him alone, and even still his grief caused him to lose his own sight. As someone who has always worn their heart on their sleeve I remember feeling so heard and understood when I came across these profound verses. For the first time I felt content with the fact that, feeling things deep within my core and ultimately responding to my body's way of releasing grief, sorrow, loss, pain did not in any way translate to anything other than Sabr. I realised the truth in how our Lord's profound words have not just been preserved to be a book with stories of the past, but rather it is the sole cure to our hearts when this world feels like too much of a burden. It is and has always been our only way of navigating through this world and all it's trials and that is quite literally why our Lord Himself reminds us, "verily in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest". So for those of you who are struggling with something that no one can truly comprehend the depths of, know that you are entitled to your own way of coping that too without the pressure of someone else's definition of Sabr. And know that your Lord is All Aware of all the turmoils your heart has endured, He knows the sincere weight of each tear that falls from your eyes and ultimately it is He, who shall compensate for them just as He returned the coolness of Yaqub عليه السلام eyes.
Most of all, let this be a reminder that your tears have never fallen in vain 🌷

He turned away from them, lamenting, “Alas, poor Joseph!” And his eyes turned white out of the grief he suppressed. [Surah Yusuf - Verse 84]
قَالَ إِنَّمَآ أَشْكُوا۟ بَثِّى وَحُزْنِىٓ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَأَعْلَمُ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا َعْلَمُونَ
He replied, “I complain of my anguish and sorrow only to Allah, and I know from Allah what you do not know [Surah Yusuf - Verse 86]
But when the bearer of the good news arrived, he cast the shirt over Jacob’s face, so he regained his sight. Jacob then said ˹to his children˺, “Did I not tell you that I truly know from Allah what you do not know?” [Surah Yusuf - Verse 96]

Tafsir Ibn Kathir: Surah al-Maryam Ayah 58
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
19:58- Those were they unto whom Allah bestowed His grace from among the Prophets, of the offspring of Adam, and of those whom We carried (in the ship) with Nuh, and of the offspring of Ibrahim and Israel, and from among those whom We guided and chose.
When the Ayat of the Most Gracious were recited unto them, they fell down prostrate and weeping.
Those were they unto whom Allah bestowed His grace from among the Prophets, of the offspring of Adam, and of those whom We carried (in the ship) with Nuh, and of the offspring of Ibrahim and Israel, and from among those whom We guided and chose. Allah, the Exalted, says that these Prophets (were favored), but this does not mean only these Prophets who were mentioned in this Surah. Rather, it is referring to all of those who were Prophets. Allah merely changes the implication of the discussion from specific individuals to the entire group of Prophets.
As-Suddi and Ibn Jarir both said, That which is meant by the offspring of Adam is Idris, and what is meant by the offspring of those `whom We carried with Nuh' is Ibrahim, and what is meant by the offspring of Ibrahim is Ishaq, Yaqub and Ismail, and what is meant by the offspring of Ismail is Musa, Harun, Zakariyya, Yahya and Isa bin Maryam.'' Ibn Jarir said, "And that is the distinction of their genealogies, even though Adam gathers all of them (as their original father). This is because among them is he who was not a descendant of those who were on the ship with Nuh, and he that is Idris. For verily, he was the grandfather of Nuh.'' I say that this is the most apparent meaning, which concludes that Idris is amongst the pillars of Nuh's ancestral lineage. The view that this Ayah refers to the ancestral lineage of the Prophets, is the fact that it is similar to Allah's statement in Surah Al-Anam. And that was our proof which We gave Ibrahim against his people. We raise whom We will in degrees. Certainly your Lord is All-Wise, All-Knowing.
And We bestowed upon him Ishaq and Yaqub, each of them We guided; and before him We guided Nuh, and among his progeny Dawud, Suleiman, Ayub, Yusuf, Musa and Harun. Thus do We reward the doers of good.
And Zakariyya, and Yahya, and Isa and Ilyas, each one of them was of the righteous. And Ismail and Al-Yasa and Yunus and Lut and each one of them We preferred above the `Alamin. And also some of their fathers and their progeny and their brethren, We chose them, and We guided them to the straight path. (6:83-87)
They are those whom Allah had guided. So follow their guidance. (6: 90)
Of some of them We have related to you their story. And of some We have not related to you their story. (40:78)
In Sahih Al-Bukhari it is reported from Mujahid that he asked Ibn Abbas, "Is there a prostration in Surah Sad'' Ibn Abbas replied, "Yes.''
Then he recited, They are those whom Allah had guided. So follow their guidance. (6:90)
Ibn Abbas then said, "So your Prophet is one of those who have been commanded to follow them. And he is of those who should be followed.'' referring to Dawud. Allah, the Exalted, said in this noble Ayah, When the Ayah of the Most Gracious were recited unto them, they fell down prostrate and weeping.
This means that when they heard the Words of Allah, mentioning His proofs and evidences, they prostrated to their Lord in humility, humbleness, praise and thanks for the great favors they were blessed with.
The word Bukiyan at the end of the Ayah means those who are crying, and it is the plural of Baki. Due to this the scholars agree that it is legislated to prostrate upon reading this Ayah, in following them and adhering to their manner of worship.

They may listen with close attention, but their eyes will glaze over with incomprehension. They may offer words of comfort, but their words will ring hollow in my ears. For none but Allāh can truly understand the depths of my pain.
Just like Prophet Yaqub (عَلَیهِ‌السَّلا), whose grief was so profound that it could not be contained by mortal lips. So he turned to Allāh, his only solace and confidant.
And so too, I turn to Allāh. I pour out my heart to Him, word by word, tear by tear. He is the only One Who can truly understand. For He is the Creator of all emotions. He knows the secrets of my soul better than I know them myself. And He is the only One who can truly give me peace, if He wills. -wrappedinamystery

here's to palestine:
why is palestine so important to muslim?
lets see..
Allah has named palestine as the "Holy Land and the Blessed Land” in the Quran. It’s mentioned in Surah Al- Ma’idah ( 5:21 ):
“O my people, enter the Holy Land which Allah has assigned to you and do not turn back (from fighting in Allah’s cause ) for then you will be returned as losers.”
one of the signs of Qiyamah is a war against the Jews. if this is the war Allah himself called upon, its befalls on every muslim to fight on the side of Palestine.
2. many great Prophets of islam and great men were born on that oly land. Palestine was the birthplace of many Prophets including Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) who built the holy Kaaba, hazrat Ishaq (AS), hazrat Dawud (as), hazrat Yaqub(as), hazrat Sulayman (as), hazrat Zakariya (as), hazrat Yahya (as) and our beloved hazrat Isa (as).
other prominant figures like Irmiya, Maryam (as) mother of Isa(as), Samuil, Talut, Uzair and Yusha.
3. Palestine is home to one of the Sacred Masjid in Islam, the Masjid al-Aqsa. Masjid Al-Aqsa is the third holiest site in Islam. It was the first Qibla for Muslims. it is also the mausoleum of hazrat suleyman (as), at this holy site, he drew his last breath.
Many references from religious books have been given with respect to this mosque. As mentioned in Sahih Muslim:
“Isa the son of Maryam (AS) would then descend, and their (the Muslims) commander (Imam Mahdi) would invite him to come and lead them in prayer, but he would say, “No, indeed some of you are commanders over each other as Allah’s honour for this Ummah”’. [Muslim]
4.
It is the land where Isa (AS ) will defeat Dajjal, the anti-Christ as its narrated in Mu’adh ibn Jabal:
“The Prophet (ﷺ) said: The flourishing state of Jerusalem will be when Yathrib is in ruins, the ruined state of Yathrib will be when the great war comes, the outbreak of the great war will be at the conquest of Constantinople and the conquest of Constantinople when the Dajjal (Antichrist) comes forth.
It’s also narrated that Prophet Isa (AS) would then search for him (the Dajjal) until he would catch hold of him at the gate of Ludd (a village near Jerusalem) and would kill him.” [Muslim]
5.
Palestine was the site of the miraculous night journey of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ).
It’s clearly mentioned in Surah al-Israa, chapter 17 Verse 1:
“Exalted is He, who took His Servant by night from Masjid Al- Haram to Masjid Al-Aqsa, whose surroundings we have blessed, to show him our signs. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Seeing.”
now lets see what Allah mentioned upon this inhuman activity, for indeed he knows the future:
The Jews, the people of Israel are cursed for killing their Prophets and disobeying Allah’s commands. Surah Baqarah [2:87] reads:
“ … But is it not that every time a messenger came to you, O children of Israel, with what your souls did not desire, you were arrogant. And a party (of messengers) you denied and another party you killed. ”
Another verse from Surah Al-Ma’idah [5.32] narrates:
“Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul of for corruption (done) in the land – it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whosoever saves one – it is as if he had saved mankind entirely.”
Allah says in Quran, Surah Al- Ma’idah [5.78]:
“Cursed were those who disbelieved among the Children of Israel by the tongue if David and of Jesus, the son of Mary. That was because they disobeyed and habitually transgressed.”

I’m sorry if this is a dumb question, but is Israel now the same as Israel from the Bible?
as i've not read the bible myself i can't say for certain but from what i've seen other people say, i'm inclined to say no. i do know however that the Quran mentions banu israel (children of israel) many times and that it's referring to the descendents of prophet yaqub (who was also called isra'il. idk the etymology of the name). as far as i know, the banu israel mentioned in islamic scripture were expelled from present day egypt when pharaoh came into power. there are many prophecies in those stories that the children of israel (referring to a subset of prophet yaqub's offspring, not people specifically living in what is today called israel or even to all jewish people) will cause mayhem in the land. many parallels to be drawn between how the pharaoh killed thousands of babies to stop prophet musa (moses) from being born and the torture and exile of an entire population etc etc and what israeli is doing today to the palestinians i.e. killing thousands of children, displacing and destroying entire villages, wiping out entire families etc.
thats probably more than u asked for and if anyone knows this better than i do pls feel free to chime in <3

It’s better not to disclose all the blessings we have to people..
Some hearts are sick..some eyes are poisoned..
For the envious, all they want is the blessing to be taken away!
It’s best to fragrance these blessings by gratitude to God & keeping them a secret..
As that is what Prophet Yaqub (a) advised his son Prophet Yusuf (a)
قَالَ يَا بُنَيَّ لَا تَقْصُصْ رُؤْيَاكَ عَلَىٰ إِخْوَتِكَ فَيَكِيدُوا لَكَ كَيْدًا ۖ
‘He said, ‘My son, do not recount your dream to your brothers, lest they should devise schemes against you.’ Quran 12:5

It took prophet Yaqub 40 years of dua to find Yusuf again.
Prophet Ibrahim built the Kabah and did not see people gather for Hajj.

Why is Palestine so Important for Muslim?
1. It was the home of many Prophets & it was our first Qibla.
Palestine was the home to the Prophets Ibraham, Isaac, Yaqub, Dawud, Sulayman, Zachariah, Yahya and Isa (May Allah be pleased with them all)
2. Allah named it the "Holy land"
Allah refers to Palestine as the "Holy Land", in reference to its purity and sanctity in Islam.4
[Quran 5:21]
3. He also named it the "Blessed land"
Ibn Saadi in his Tafsir states that the area surrounding Bayt-Al Maqdis was blessed with immense trees, rivers, and fertile soil.
It was also blessed due to the virtues of Masjid Al-Aqsa over all other mosques
4. It is home to the third Holiest site
Palestine is home to the third holiest Masjid in Islam, Masjid Al-Aqsa. This Masjid was the first Qibla (direction of prayer) for the Muslims and the Prophet explicitly encouraged Muslims to visit it.
5. It was the site of the miraculous night journey
The miraculous night journey of the Prophet ﷺ took place in Palestine. Whereby he travelled from Makkah to Masjid Al Aqsa and on to Heaven in a single night.

The Legitimacy of Mourning in Islam - Lessons from Prophet Yaqub’s (pbuh) Grief
The Legitimacy of Mourning in Islam: Lessons from Prophet Yaqub’s (PBUH) Grief The mourning of Imam Husain (a.s.), grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), holds a deep and respected place within Islamic tradition, especially in Shia Islam. Mourning for the martyrs, particularly Imam Husain, has a precedent rooted in the Qur’an and the actions of the Prophets. An insightful example of this is…

Tafsir Ibn Kathir: Surah al-Maryam Ayah 49-50
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
19:49- So when he had turned away from them and from those whom they worshipped besides Allah, We gave him Ishaq and Yaqub, and each one of them We made a Prophet.
19:50- And We gave them of Our mercy, and We granted them Sidqin `Aliyyan on the tongues.
Allah gave Ibrahim Ishaq and Yaqub
So when he had turned away from them and from those whom they worshipped besides Allah, We gave him Ishaq and Ya`qub, and each one of them We made a Prophet.
Allah, the Exalted, says that when the Friend of Allah (Ibrahim) withdrew from his father and his people for the sake of Allah, Allah gave him in exchange those who were better than them. He gave him Ishaq (Isaac) and Yaqub (Jacob), meaning his son, Ishaq, and Ishaq's son, Yaqub.
This is as Allah said in another Ayah, and Yaqub, a grandson. Also, Allah says,َ and after Ishaq, of Yaqub. There is no difference of opinion about Ishaq being the father of Yaqub. This is what is recorded in the Qur'an in Surah Al-Baqarah.
Or were you witnesses when death approached Yaqub When he said unto his sons, "What will you worship after me!" They said, "We shall worship your God the God of your fathers, Ibrahim, Ismail and Ishaq.''
Allah only mentioned Ishaq and Yaqub here to show that He made Prophets from among his descendants and successors in order to give him relief and happiness in his life.
If Yaqub had not become a Prophet in the lifetime of Ibrahim, then Allah would not have limited the promise of Prophethood to him, but He would have mentioned his son Yusuf as well. For verily,
Yusuf was also a Prophet, just as the Messenger of Allah said in a Hadith whose authenticity is agreed upon, when he was asked who was the best of people.
The Prophet of Allah, Yusuf, the son of the Prophet of Allah Yaqub, the son of the Prophet of Allah Ishaq, the son of the Friend of Allah Ibrahim. Verily, the noble one is the son of the noble one, who is the son of the noble one, who is the son of the noble one. That is Yusuf, the son of Yaqub, the son of Ishaq, the son of Ibrahim. And We gave them of Our mercy, and We granted Sidqin `Aliyyan on the tongues. Ali bin Abi Talhah reported that Ibn Abbas said, "Sidqin `Aliyyan means the good praise.''As-Suddi and Malik bin Anas said the same thing.
Ibn Jarir said, "Allah only said `Aliyyan (loftiness, exalted) because all of the religions commend them and mention them with praises, may Allah's peace and blessing be upon them all.'
