Game of Thrones characters re-imagined as figures from Russian animation studio Soyuzmultfilm (Союзмультфильм). By artist Prokopiy Ulyashov (Прокопий Уляшов).

My favorite is his rendering of the Night King and the Army of the Dead as hockey players.

A factoid about Prokopiy Ulyashov: He is apparently from the city of Syktyvkar in the Komi Republic. That’s 1,005 km (624 miles) northeast of Moscow. 🥶

Mariya snatched the pamphlet off the wall and read out the contents. “How do they expect us to survive on that?”

“I don’t make the rules, just the bread. Now move along, you’re holding up the line.”

Pictured: the remains of a Stone Age fish supper from 8,000 years ago

Mesolithic meal found at site on the Lena River in Yakutia whets the appetite of local archaeologists.

The remarkable discovery includes the skeletons of three fish of different size, and four floats or bobbers - presumably used with nets for the catch - made from rolled birch bark which is still intact after eight millennia.

Historian Prokopiy Nagovitsyn said proudly:'I was the first one to touch these food remains of the Mesolithic people who lived here approximately 8,000 years ago. These were the Sumnagin people, fishermen who likely used nets because next to three skeletons there were floats.

'In the same layer I found a harpoon's spearhead.

'There is an extraordinary level of preservation of the fish skeletons.

'And birch bark is a material which does not rot even in thousands of years, as we can see after finding the floats.' Read more.

Phát hiện cặp ngà voi cổ 400.000 năm tại Siberia – Tin Đào Tạo

Theo báo The Siberian Times, 1 người dân sống tại làng Oy vùng Yakutia trong lúc đang đào đất vườn trồng khoai tây và cải bắp đã phát hiện cặp ngà voi đặc trưng này.

Cặp ngà này là của 1 con voi ma mút thảo nguyên, loài voi cổ đã tuyệt chủng, mang chiều dài 270 cm và đường kính ở phần gốc khoảng nửa mét!

Loài voi ma mút thảo nguyên này tồn tại trước cả loài voi ma mút lông dài vốn siêu nức tiếng ở vùng Yakutia, còn được gọi là Cùng hòa Sakha.

Những chứng tích còn lại của loài voi ma mút lông dài tại Yakutia vẫn còn khá phổ thông, nhưng vết tích về loài voi ma mút thảo nguyên đặc thù hi hữu và cũng có niên đại lâu hơn đa dạng, sở hữu thể cách nay tới 400.000 năm.

Sử gia địa phương Prokopiy Nagovitsyn là thành viên của đoàn khảo sát đã tới mua hiểu về phát hiện khảo cổ mà theo ông là "hết sức đặc biệt".

Ông kể: "Vì các lý do dễ hiểu chúng tôi sẽ ko phân phối chuẩn xác vị trí cũng như tên của người phát hiện ra chứng tích khảo cổ. Chúng tôi được mời đến thẩm định sự việc. Nhóm các nhà cổ sinh học cũng đang trên đường tới để nghiên cứu thêm".

Những thông tin chi tiết sẽ sớm được công bố.

Bên cạnh đó ông Prokopiy Nagovitsyn cho biết: "Đây là cặp ngà của 1 con voi ma mút thảo nguyên, do đấy phát hiện khảo cổ này mang niên đại cách nay khoảng 400.000 năm".

Năm 2015, người ta từng chọn thấy một bộ xương nguyên lành của voi ma mút thảo nguyên ở vùng Nizhny Bestyakh của Yakutia.
