According to on this day, it’s been one year since I watched the episode of the anime where the Professor and Kat were reunited and I just want everyone to know I’m still absolutely not over it.

I figured I’d finally draw the outfits Luke has for his various occupations over the years in the How Things Change Au.
From his early 20s to his early 30s, he takes after his adoptive mother and becomes a police inspector. He garners quite the reputation too, solving unique cases like he used to with the Professor. But this time, he’s solving cases with his adventurous assistant Lucille Layton and his number one apprentice Hershel Bronev by his side.
Then Targent happens, he’s captured while Leon and Rachel escape with their kids and gets taken to whoever their base was. None of his years there were particularly good, but his first few were the worst. As an inspector he’d been working against Targent and not only that, but he let the archeologist they were after escape and they wanted to make him regret that. At the start, the only one who had his back was a reluctant follower of Targent by the name of Raymond.
Then the group he’d acquired manage to escape, but not without casualties on both sides. Emmy, who was only a child at the time, lost her mother, leaving her an orphan. Targent lost their leader (and a few buildings). They were on the run for a while but when things settled down to a somewhat normal, Luke used the training he’d gotten in Targent to get a medical degree at Gressenheller University. While there he ends up befriending a certain quartet of younger students.

Professor Layton
CV: Yo Oizumi
An archeology professor at Gressenheller University – Hershel Layton. He often leaves the university to investigate cases at the request of Scotland Yard.
Bad at Tidying Up
As a big book lover, there are a lot of books in his university office. But because he never tidies the books away, the room is getting messier and messier.
Even Luke is dumbfounded that pieces from the investigation haven’t been tidied up.
Outstanding Athleticism!
Unlike most professors, he has an outstanding athletic ability. Here he sword fights his arch-enemy Descole, where he shows the full extent of his abilities. It is all thanks to high school fencing practise.
The scene shows him duel-wielding using a broken pipe.
He also rides a hand glider skilfully. He is very good with all kinds of vehicles.

ROUND TWO
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(NOTE: Read the Palutena's Guidance for Neku HERE)
Professor Layton
Pit: This man looks really distinguished! Palutena: Oh, that's Professor Hershel Layton! He's an archeology professor at London's Gressenheller University. He's also world-famous for his ability to solve puzzles! Viridi: He claims he's a gentleman, but you'll never see him without that silly-looking hat. Palutena: Of course, Viridi! A gentleman always has spares. Viridi: Yeah, but he's throwing his hat as a projectile. It's a little weird to see the same hat underneath the old one. How many does he have? Palutena: That is a good question. Pit, would you mind getting hit a few times so we can see if he runs out? Pit: I'm not getting hit just to solve some puzzle!

Carmine Accidenti character headcanons:
He was actually born in Switzerland, but his family are Italian. (Based off Carmine’s VA!)
Carmine grew up in Monza— a city in northern Italy, best known for its Grand Prix motor racing circuit.
The number of times he crashed his parents’ cars…
Carmine can speak several European languages, including Italian, French, Spanish, German and English. People find it hard to place his accent.
Carmine came to England to attend university and accidentally ended up studying archaeology
Professor Layton is Carmine’s favourite tutor. At first, Layton finds Carmine familiar for reasons he can’t explain (Carmine resembles a young Leon Bronev), and Layton finds this unnerving, but soon Layton appreciates Carmine’s determination and his shared love of puzzles.
Carmine gets a red mini that greatly resembles the Laytonmobile
For how often he creates chaos and mess at Gressenheller, Carmine is the bane of Rosa Grimes’ existence.
As much as Carmine grows to like archeology, he struggles with writing his essays in English. Janice offers to proofread his work, in exchange for Italian lessons from Carmine.
He and Janice become good friends (Carmine may or may not have had a crush on her but he stops when he realises Janice has feelings for Melina). The pair remain in touch long after they have left Gressenheller.
Carmine wants to follow in Layton’s footsteps— not as an archaeologist but as a detective with a tendency to go on wild and dangerous adventures
When he returns from Labyrinthia, Janice visits Carmine in hospital. The two of them bond over the shared experience of having their memories altered.
Janice worries about Carmine— he reminds her of Melina for how headstrong he is, but Janice knows Carmine is more indestructible than Melina.
While he’s in Labyrinthia, Carmine becomes attached to Espella and sees her as a younger sister.
At Espella’s request, Patty Eclaire lets Carmine work and reside at the bakery.
He  sets to bakery on fire several times, much to Espella’s horror. After one such incident, he comforts Espella when she’s frozen with fear, as if she was in a trance.
While in Labyrinthia, Carmine gradually remembers he’s a detective as he helps the townspeople solve mundane mysteries.
This brings him to the attention of the Order of Knights, who almost arrest him on several occasions for his association with Espella.
He develops a rivalry/romance with Zacharias Barnham. Both find each other so illogical
One night, a group of rogue knights burst into the bakery to question Espella. Carmine helps to defend Espella while Aunt Patty ward the knights off with a rolling pin.
Eventually, Carmine realises Espella is the key to solving the mystery of Labyrinthia. He convinces Espella to escape from the town with him, so they can get help.

The Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright Timeline
The title’s a little misleading. This is a timeline of the Professor Layton and Ace Attorney games that brings them together so Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright can exist in the canon. For the unaware -- it’s not very obvious when the Layton games take place, but most people place it around the mid-1900s, around the ‘60s for the main games. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney canonically takes place in 2016, which is established from the one (1) canonical date of DL-6 happening in 2001. Thanks for that, Capcom.
I used the Ace Attorney wiki’s timeline as well as been_there_pun_that’s timeline of the Layton series as resources to base my own timeline of events upon, the latter of which has been rendered slightly inaccurate by the anime (especially with regards to Katrielle) but the rest of which is solid.
The base assumption of this is that Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright takes place in November 2018, after The Stolen Turnabout but before Furio Tigre impersonates Phoenix Wright. I use American names for the PL games for simplicity’s sake, and LBMR is ignored on this timeline because I barely know anything about this game. (Katrielle’s birth is on here because I know she was born when Luke was fifteen, and that’s the extent of what I know about her.) Major spoilers for Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy (Layton backstory related), and minor spoilers for Investigations 2 (the case number of a certain inciting incident). Minor spoilers for the rest of both series as well, and major spoilers for Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright.
Most of the events here are the major events of each game. I included Phoenix Wright and Layton’s births in the timeline, which is why this contains Azran Legacy spoilers at the start. This is incomplete on purpose; there are a lot of events over the course of all the games, so I narrowed my focus a lot. I decided to include the inciting event of Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright because well...it is a timeline designed to make it compliant with both series. :)
I moved Professor Layton up rather than moving Ace Attorney back because the technology level in the London of Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright is closer to that of Ace Attorney than of Professor Layton. (Maya and Phoenix are flying in a plane in their first cutscene, for instance, and Carmine Accidenti’s car is more modern.)
1982: Hershel Layton is born.
1986-ish*: Targent targets Leon and Rachel Bronev, leaving Hershel and Theodore Bronev alone. Roland and Lucile Layton adopt Theodore Bronev, thinking that he’s Hershel Bronev, and renaming him Hershel Layton.
1992: Phoenix Wright is born.
1999: Hershel Layton and Randall Ascot go on an expedition into the Azran ruins. Randall falls and is presumed dead.
December 2000: IS-7 incident begins.
December 2001: DL-6 incident takes place.
2007: Espella Cantabella and Eve Belduke climb the bell tower and ring the bell. The Great Fire happens.
2009: Hershel Layton becomes a professor of archeology at Gressenheller University. Claire dies in the time machine explosion. Labyrinthia is established to conceal Espella and Eve’s memories of the bell tower.
2012: Events of Turnabout Reminiscence (Miles Edgeworth investigates his first case)
2013: Events of Turnabout Beginnings (Miles Edgeworth and Mia Fey make their court debuts)
2014: Phoenix Wright’s trial for the murder of Doug Swallow (Turnabout Memories)
2016:
Events of Professor Layton and the Last Specter take place (either during spring or summer)**
Events of Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva take place (must be after Last Specter)
August: Larry Butz’s trial for the murder of Cindy Stone (The First Turnabout)
September: Maya Fey & Phoenix Wright’s trials for the murder of Mia Fey (Turnabout Sisters)
October: Will Powers’s trial for the murder of Jack Hammer (Turnabout Samurai)
December: Miles Edgeworth’s trial for the murder of Robert Hammond (Turnabout Goodbyes)
2017:
February: Lana Skye’s trial for the murder of Bruce Goodman (Rise from the Ashes)
June: Maya Fey’s trial for the murder of Turner Grey (Reunion, and Turnabout)
September: Maggey Byrde’s trial for the murder of Dustin Prince (The Lost Turnabout)
December: Maximilian Galactica’s trial for the murder of Russel Berry (Turnabout Big Top)
Sometime in 2017***: Events of Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask take place.
2018:
January-July (tentatively): Events of Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy take place.
March: Matt Engarde’s trial for the murder of Juan Corrida (Farewell, My Turnabout)
August: Events of Professor Layton and the Curious Village and Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box take place.
October: Ron Delite’s trial for the theft of the Sacred Urn and the murder of Kane Bullard (The Stolen Turnabout)
November: Events of Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright take place.
December: First trial of Maggey Byrde for the murder of Glen Elg (in which Furio Tigre impersonated Phoenix Wright)
2019:
January: Second trial of Maggey Byrde for the murder of Glen Elg (Recipe for Turnabout); events of Professor Layton and the Unwound Future take place.
March-April: Events of the Miles Edgeworth: Investigations games take place.
April: Phoenix Wright gets disbarred during the trial of Zak Gramarye/Shadi Enigmar for the murder of Magnifi Gramarye
2021: Katrielle Layton is born.
2026: Events of Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney.
2027: Events of Dual Destinies.
2028: Events of Spirit of Justice.
*There isn’t an exact age given for Layton at the time he was adopted, just a “more than 30 years ago”, and given that Azran Legacy takes place when he’s 36, he had to have been less than that at the time, but old enough to retain some memories (while they remain repressed). been_there_pun_that puts Layton at 4 at the time of his adoption, which makes sense to me, so I put it down as four years after his birth, but it could ostensibly be 1987 as well.
**Misthallery is very green, so the seasons haven’t taken effect.
***Monte d’Or is in a desert, so I have no clue what season it could possibly be. Fucking Azran messing with the weather and making my life harder :P
Events of Azran Legacy take place over a longer span of time than any other Layton game, leaving it difficult to place in the timeline. I’ve done my best here. I don’t know where I got that Curious Village and Diabolical Box take place in August, but I am using it to full effect. This puts Curious Village only a few weeks after the events of Azran Legacy, which is in fact what I think.

Puzzling On The Inside
Holly crap the amount of anatomical research I had to put into this one...
Another trade story for @luci-voracious-blog
Once again a lot of you will recognize what this is based off of lol. (It's Feedfancier's Cutie Cruise) In fact I should go back and give credit in my other stories as well... ****
You never, ever could’ve imagined yourself, even just as soon as two months ago, to be legitimately sitting across from the famed and beloved Professor Layton, sharing a Gressenheller University cafeteria blueberry-flavored smoothie as you gazed longingly into each other’s eyes; all due to the simple fact, of course, that you were on a romantic date. And yet, as the archeology professor’s iconic dotted black eyes stared calmly and affectionately back at yours, the reality of the situation couldn’t be avoided. You had managed to make it this far, in terms of developing a healthy relationship, and as the two of you gracefully leaned in for a kiss upon each other’s pursed lips, the only desire you possessed, pounding along the four chambers of your heart, was to continue to do so into the future.
Steadily closing your eyes as your lips touch against Professor Layton’s, it seemed right then and there that your entire reality had disappeared around you simultaneously, and the only thing left in this universe after its crumbling was now exclusively you, and your beloved partner known as Layton.
At least, that’s how it seemed.
Your ears almost instantly perk up as you are suddenly able to hear someone chuckling. But this wasn’t Layton chuckling, or even anyone you knew or recognized by voice in any sense at all. No. You weren’t even required to open your eyes in order to get a sense of who or what this new speaker was as their echoing footsteps plodded forwards, as it seemed that their image had become instantaneously zapped into your mind by some force upon them taking in a breath to speak again.
“Y’know…even though I’m mainly a vore writer, Wattpad doesn’t allow people to add vore scenarios onto ‘Character X Reader stories.” the small, white, white wolf speaker, possessing light blue wings and a floating halo, as well as a trans flag bandanna around their neck with a circular symbol upon it you didn’t recognize, spoke out in a powerful yet controlled, giggling manner.
“...oh…that’s….great?” you, having absolutely no clue what Wattpad was, awkwardly responded soon after.
“...but as all my readers obviously know…I don’t post on Wattpad…now do I?”
“.................no?”     “Heh. Yeah. Luci just wanted me to add in that little exchange as a Toy Story reference.”
And then, just like that, the universe re-constructed itself all around you.
“But with one single, little twist.”
You found yourself unable to scream or even speak as your body began to rapidly shrink before your eyes. Layton’s eyes, however, remained firmly closed as his lips still fervently touched against yours. The resulting sucking force from the continual, blissfully ignorant, professor’s kissing only ended up pulling you closer and closer unto his puckered up lips. Eventually, then, once you had shrunken down to just about the size of a raisin, you became sucked in all the way through the tiny hole present between the lips. And it was only after all that that Layton finally realized something was wrong. But by then, it was already too late.
Giving your disoriented head a little shake before lifting it up and heaving a sigh, you did, of course, possess a very good idea as to just where you had now ended up; but it wasn’t until you opened your eyes and gazed around for a little while were those assumptions finally confirmed.
You naturally let out a little half-gasp half-exclamation of your sudden confusion and slight worry now that you knew you were lying within Layton’s maw, and down upon his squishy tongue, more specifically. All this before, however, reality once again flooded its way over your being seconds later.
Professor Layton heaves a slight sigh, resulting in his soft palette rising up along with the air. Able to gaze straight upon his floppy uvula as a result whilst the force of the sigh makes it wobble just a bit, you are instantly overcome with a strange sense of deep comfort, as Layton on the outside is only able to wonder just where you had gone after the kiss.
Eventually, upon being unable to see you anywhere within his near vicinity, or just anywhere around the spacious cafeteria in general, Layton is only able to conclude, in that moment, that you had, for whatever reason, left him alone. His heart momentarily superseding his capabilities as an apt problem solver, and thus leaving him incapable of noticing the slight pressure upon his smooth tongue, Layton eventually moves in to take a sip from one of the straws in the smoothie with slight tears welling up in his eyes. You on the inside, upon suddenly sensing a slight change in temperature, swiftly swivel your head around in order to see what, exactly, was going on. Only to be met with Layton’s straw pumping blue smoothie deep up into his slick, pinkish maw, and at a rate too fast for you to take action before the stream at last swept you away.
Whisked away past the tip of the tongue, it would only take a couple seconds before the smoothie flood brought you all the way through the volume of the maw, past both the cheeks and hard palate, until at last you were right below the dangling uvula. Without a single flash of conscious thought upon the matter, as though merely commanded by instinct, you raise up both arms towards the flesh sack, and fervently clutch both your hands onto its large, rounded bit on the bottom. Gripping with increasing fervor as Layton lurches just a bit forwards from the sudden bodily shock, your efforts are ultimately unable to save you from the flood, as the archeology professor immediately sucks even more of the torrential blue liquid into his maw. The uvula stretches downwards just a little as you desperately attempt to keep your grip, only for the deluge of blueberry flavored sugary drink to forcefully wash you down towards the gaping form of the upper esophageal sphincter as Layton on the outside swallows hard.
The resulting trip down his squishy throat resembled an experience closer to that of riding down a water park tube slide than being rhythmically squelched down through the peristaltic motions of the throat muscles. Regardless of all that though, the end result was still the same.
The lower esophageal sphincter, as it was currently gaping wide open due to letting in all the liquid smoothie, naturally passed you through to the stomach, causing you to do a bit of a half-somersault into the air as you fell, before ultimately taking the plunge deep into the bubbling acid pool.
You swifty rise up above the waterline and take in a great breath of fresh air, before your eyes open up and dart downwards towards the churning liquids below. Seeing no cruel burning of your skin taking place, this being accompanied by a lack of any pain, you then realized as a result that the acids in here weren’t actually harmful to you. Giving an excessively drawn out sigh whilst suppressing the urge to roll your eyes, you sarcastically wonder to yourself just how this possibly could be the case.
Nonetheless, it obviously wasn’t like you were mad that you were safe, and so after taking a minute to get over the reason why you were here in the first place, you eventually brush it away with a head shake, before treading your way over to the nearest region of stomach wall, reasoning that you might as well get comfortable while you were here. Squishing yourself up against the slightly shifting, pillowy walls, you gently nuzzle your head into its squishy, slimy, smooth lining and prepare to settle down for a while, as you now appreciate your dear Layton where you had never ever been able to until now. Before immediately realizing seconds later that the acids were quite hastily dragging you away from said walls, causing you to swiftly tumble back down into its depths once again. Upon resurfacing for a second time, you are able to discern as a result just where all the liquids were dragging you.
Squelching cleanly through the pylorus, you are forced to take in one more breath of fresh air before entering into the duodenum of the small intestine, where the liquids fill the volume of the squishy, glorping tubes, thus leaving you unable to breathe. You are just barely able to accomplish this in time before the tiny, finger-like protrusions of the villi lining the walls of the small intestine enter your sight. Gently waving about in the waters they were doused in, the villi calmly absorbed the nutrients present within the homogenous chime that entered into the small intestine, in order to send said nutrients into the bloodstream to be delivered throughout Layton’s body. You, realizing that you were not suddenly gaining the urge to breathe like you normally would underwater, merely close your eyes once again, and remind yourself that you should be grateful that you were staying alive before opening them up once again and thus also realizing that the liquids weren’t stinging your eyes like they normally would and that you were able to see through the digested chime perfectly fine. Acknowledging this, too, with a slight nod before you enter into the jejunum, you are therefore able to settle down for the moment and simply enjoy the free ride throughout the small intestine you were getting for the moment.
Eventually, however, you start to notice that you were drifting a little ways towards the small intestine’s villi-lined walls, and before you could really start swimming away, you swiftly became absorbed right into one of those villi, diffusing through the wall of the epithelium, and into the blood capillary of the villi as a result. Following along with the blood flow and entering into the venule where you were then transferred into a jejunal vein and then the hepatic portal vein, the blood flow and pressure steadily drag you along towards the liver, finally entering you into the central vein of one of the lobules of the filtering organ. You then go on to flow into one of the sinusoids along with all the venous blood, as well as the nutrients and toxins it carries. Staring with fixed eyes in pure awe upon the kupffer cells lining the sinusoids as they filtered out the toxins in the blood into the hepatocytes, where they would eventually be broken down, you continue to flow along with the filtered blood, entering into a hepatic vein before at last, the inferior vena cava lead you upwards and towards Layton’s heart.
Upon being cleanly pumped into the archaeologist's right atrium, something almost instantly tipped you off as not right. It would then only take a single second of mental processing before the realization that you were no longer following the flow of the deoxygenated blood into the right ventricle towards the lungs, struck you through with a sharp jolt. Swishing your head around within the fluids in order to glance backwards over your shoulder, you are immediately graced with the form of the endocardium, the very first layer of the heart wall. Proceeding to magically diffuse, via the same mechanism responsible for bringing you here in the first place, of course, through the myocardium, them through the epicardium, the pericardial cavity, the parietal layer, and finally, the fibrous pericardium, you have at last found yourself lying on the outside of the heart.
A sharp, panicked gasping sound suddenly graces your ears from the outside, as Layton, now downtroddenly plodding his way through the university hallways, collapses onto the floor in great pain from something suddenly lying on his heart. And it was right then and there, after all of that bodily traveling that, reality finally set in.
Here you were at long last, on top of your beloved Layton’s throbbing heart. You had traveled your way all throughout his gastrointestinal tract in order to get here, from his mouth into his small intestine. You had gotten absorbed into the professor’s portal vein, and ventured through his liver as a result. And now, at the end of it all, here you were, lying calmly upon the fibrous pericardium, the very top layer of his heart.
Layton, by this point on the outside, is no longer feeling any pain. Instead, he has simply stopped to examine the strange pressure upon the top of the right side of his pounding, warm, embraced heart. And then, whether by his naturally apt problem-solving capabilities, or by intervention of some sort or another, the professor understood everything. Layton calmly rubs his hands against his chest whilst you gently squish yourself into and nuzzle the top of his heart, something which he is naturally able to feel from outside. Promptly growing a quivering smile and tearing up with overwhelming affection from this as he tightly wrapped his arms around each other, Layton is therefore able to bring them both as close as was possible to you upon his beating heart. Layton and you thus communally engage within the deep love you possessed for the other, whilst the historically presumed seat of all his emotions, and thus his deep love for you upon it, rhythmically pounded beneath.

Her initial reactions to his gentle nature clued him in on smaller details that he is confident should be noticed by even an untrained eye. Judging from her confusion, how he introduced himself wasn’t exactly an everyday occurrence and that alone could open up roads to several possibilities. One can be as small as people in her usual area are not taught to be well mannered, the Americans and British are both different in how they chose to carry themselves, the British as a people and their culture are more refined then the Americans and that’s not bad at all, Hershel has the onlook of it being beautiful in the way of diversity, disregarding his cluelessness about how the Americans conducted themselves. A severe possibility is that Kenaya hasn’t been treated with respect in her life and stepped into misfortune from this treatment on a reoccurring basis, both of these levels could also be thrown into a mix together.
Her body became less tensed, a wave of relaxation hitting her and as relieved as this made Hershel, she obviously hardly knew that cuts were made to her body because of her panic. Showing that he cared for her is the best road to go down and his move to pocket the letter caused a brief upset again but his care shone through in the end, placing her back into relative ease.
If she wanted to talk to him, Kenaya is more then welcomed to and he won’t force conversation upon her. He sensed that perhaps he should allow the nurses to do their work and to be silent while the Patient gets an idea of his character and nature. He wasn’t going to be ignoring her or breaking his word, as shown by his eyes following the medical staff, making sure that nothing bad could happen. A gentleman fulfills what he promises and sees it all through to the end. From the exchanges she had, her name became known to him along with her previous struggles previous to his arrival.
“I am Professor Hershel Layton and I teach the archeology course down at Gressenheller University.” He responded to her question as if prepared for it. He’ll let her ask anything she needed to first, then ask his own, no pressure should be placed on a young lady whose been in distress. “It is certainly a pleasure to be meeting with you.” He hoped expressing that he wanted to hold a conversation with her would be an aid for her. Natural conversation with a stranger can be trying sometimes, that he understands and some are the nerbous sort. Being welcomed he found did help many of these people, although, everyone is different and patience is needed for some, that’s okay.
An adventure begins.
((Closed rp with @amostfascinatingpuzzleindeed))
Dark clouds covered the sky and rain pounded over London, England. Those out and about held umbrellas or wore something to keep themselves dry. Unfortunately, one woman wasn't so lucky to have something covering her. She bolted down the sidewalks and weaved around other pedestrians.
Her waist-length copper brown hair and button-up red plaid shirt and blue jeans were completely soaked. She could feel rainwater seeping into her black boots. A black backpack was strapped tightly to her person. Her hazel eyes darted around her as she tried to avoid running into people. Since it was raining, she had her glasses off and in her glasses case inside her backpack. All she could see were fuzzy, blurry, shapes and colors. The dark clouds covering the sky only made things worse for her.
It felt like sharp icicles were piercing her lungs as she ran. Rain or sweat running down her face became hard to tell. It was beginning to become more challenging to keep on running.
Just as she was crossing a street sudden movement out of the corner of her eye caught her attention. The sound of breaks being slammed startled her and she skitted to a stop in the middle of the crosswalk, stumbling in the process. Even with her blurry vision, she could tell she ran in front of a moving car. All the frustration that she's been suppressing for so long bubbled up to the surface.
"HEY! WATCH WHERE YOU'RE GOING!" Kenaya shouted. Her eyes darted to both sides of the car. She couldn't tell which side the driver was on. The woman kicked the front bumper, causing her to stumble back a bit. "STUPID HEAD!"
When she bolted away she found herself unsteady. She almost crashed into a street lamp but managed to push off of it. While her heart was pounding painfully in her chest she pressed on. She needed to get to the University. According to her friend, Alex, there were people there that could help her.

Professor Layton and the Haunted Tesco
Introducing my new little project, a semi-satire fan-fiction surrounding a paranormal urban supermarket. It will be updated once in a blue moon (no promises), but for now here’s chapter one as well as a link to it on AO3 with more detail in the tags, summary, and notes if you prefer.
https://archiveofourown.org/works/30055989
Early morning sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating the dust particles floating through the air and bringing out the bright orange in the mug of earl grey sitting amidst papers on the messy desk. Professor Layton picked the tea up with his free hand, savoring a long sip. With the other, he sifted through the pile of letters Luke brought him from the main office earlier.
He picked out a select handful, shuffling the rest to the back of the pile as he read the names of the senders. Receiving this type of mail was not an uncommon happenstance: strangers who had heard of him through newspaper spotlights and hyperbolized word of mouth, sending him pitches and problems, puzzles and inquiries. Requests.
One letter in particular piqued his interest. Layton neatly sliced the flap of the envelope open, pulling out the message from one Mrs. Rosalind Entira. He leaned back with his tea, scanning the page.
Dear Professor Hershel Layton,
I hope this doesn’t come as a disturbance, but I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place, and I’m afraid there’s no one I can turn to. My friend recommended you to me on the grounds of your success in cracking open a conundrum posed by her cousin about two years ago. Perhaps you remember- the town was swarming with an invasive bird species bent on attacking villagers. You put together that a smuggling ring fronting as a road maintenance service introduced trained Australian magpies to distract the authorities and potential witnesses, forcing them inside, while they exchanged goods in broad daylight and collected valuables the bird picked up along the way.
You see, my husband has been murdered. We went on holiday to our Devon estate. It was quite the lovely country home, but I’m afraid I can’t see it the same way anymore. We’d thrown parties over the course of the past few weeks- ample opportunity for someone in the crowd to pull him aside and do the deed- but curiously enough, it happened while he was home alone. I stepped out to town to buy some groceries, but when I returned, I found him practically carved open on the kitchen floor. It was awful. I can’t imagine why anyone would do this, not to him. Of course, I promptly called the police, but they haven’t found a single lead. That haunting image of his body will be burned into my mind forever. Please, Professor, could you take his case on?
-Rosalind Entira
Layton placed the paper on the desk, looking out the window. He was admittedly interested. A witness-less, motiveless crime at a country estate? But he was so occupied this month. Between grading midterm papers, co-hosting an archeological conference on Gressenheller’s behalf, and getting into the habit of actually planning his seminars, the Professor simply had no time to leave London. He folded the letter back into its envelope, placing it in the inquiry portion of his personal letterbox. Finishing off his earl grey, he opened the next message.
Professor Layton,
I have a case for you which is leaving me truly baffled. Where do I even start? I work as a regional manager of Tesco Express here in London, but recently I’ve heard complaints of supernatural activity in one of my locations. There have been reports of packaged goods flying off of shelves, red liquid dripping from the ceiling, and a shadowy figure with glowing eyes standing in the corner before disappearing. On top of that, there seems to be an odd pattern to this behavior; it only appears to happen around 7am when the temperature outside is higher than 25°C. People are saying the store is haunted, and unnerving rumors speculating about its sinister backstory are making their way around town. Malicious spirit or not, this whole ordeal has been a detriment to business. Could you please help me get to the bottom of this?
-Manfred Djerr
“OHOHO,” the Professor laughed, eyebrows raised. He folded the letter into his pocket as he stood up from the desk, grabbing his top hat from its hook. “Now this is a puzzle indeed”.

“So, you are the other professor Sycamore, are you not?”
Des: “You would be correct. The name’s Desmond Sycamore, Professor of Archeology at Gressenheller University. You are?”
Sycamore: “I’m Augustine Sycamore, Professor of Pokémon in in the Kalos Region.”
Des: “It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Sycamore.”
Sycamore: “Likewise, my friend.”
Des: “What brings you here, to my office, out of all places? Surely a researcher of your caliber doesn’t have business with someone like myself.”
Sycamore: “On the contrary, Professor. I do in fact have business with you. There was an... incident... involving ancient Pokémon and a split dimension. I thought that someone who devoted his life to researching the Azran would perhaps have theories about it...”
Des: “I heard about that. What do you propose I do?”
Sycamore: “Well... you are related to Hershel Layton, are you not?”
Des: “If you need his help, I’m afraid he’s... indisposed at the moment.”
Sycamore: “what I mean to say is that surely you share some of his brains. Perhaps you could help solve this mystery.”
Des: “I’ll consider it, Sycamore.”
Sycamore: “Well until you decide, you know where to find me. My lab in Kalos. I bid you farewell.”
Des: “Perhaps we shall meet again.”

Happy Fanfic Writer Friday! What is a fic you've posted that you think deserves more attention? What is it about?
Oh! Hello! Thank you for asking!
I have written 4 fanfics (2 multiply chapter fics and 2 one shots)
I’m ElegantPhoenix15 on AO3 and all of this are Professor Layton fics
The Ideal Student
Summary
Cecilia Deadmen is one of the youngest students in Gressenheller University. Her subject is Theatre, and she is happy with her choice. However, not everyone agrees with it: some of the professors at the university try to convince her to go for something “more reasonable,” like archaeology or mechanical engineering. Cecilia almost takes their advice, until a certain girl convinces her otherwise.
This is my first finished multi chapter fic I wrote in 2018 for a Big Bang event in the fandom I’m was in, and I’m still proud of this fic! The title was base on the play The Ideal Husband by Oscar Wilde and the fic is somewhat based on the play!
Cecilia Deadmen is my oc for this fanfic, and she’ll be in many more fics in the future!

"Normal"
Summary:
Flora and Cecilia have a talk about being "normal".
This is a simple fic about Flora feeling like she doesn’t fit in to her secondary school and Cecilia cheers her up.

Accidental Nudes
Summary:
Nathan Olander lost a bet with his co-workers and had to take nude pictures of himself. If that wasn’t bad enough, he accidentally sends his nudes to his boss/crush Jean Descole.
I wrote this because I was really inspired by a certain twitter post. This is a SFW fic despite the title. This fic made me realized I love writing characters in embarrassed situation (not in that way, but in a weird cathartic and funny way if that makes sense).
This also took me 2 days to write! I’m super proud of it!
Nathan “Nate” Olander belongs to @sus1eq22 and @fincherly

The Talk
Summary:
How does Professor Hershel Layton, professor of archeology, solver of puzzle, and mysteries is going to explain to a 16-year-old sheltered girl about the birds and bees?
I wrote this because there was no fic about Professor Layton giving the talk to Flora, so I wrote one myself.
Also, I just want to write a normally calm and stoic man in an embarrassing situation.
This introduces my other oc Cecilia's mom Delilah Deadmen.
It's still a WIP (and It might be 6 chapter instead of the 5 I planned, will see what happened) and it will be done sometime soon!
Thank you for asking this question! I hope you have a wonderful day!

Hello!
My name is Hershel Layton, I am a Professor of Archeology at the Gressenheller University in London.
I’ve heard about these so called “ask-blogs”, where someone, in this case I myself, receives asks from diverse people which I will be answering afterwards.
I’d love to try this out myself, since so many people seem to enjoy and recommend it, also having told me they made lots of friends with it!
So please feel invited to visit me, talk to me, ask and interact with me.
Have a good day!

ROUND ONE
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mii Wizard
Pit: So, what's with this fighter? Palutena: This is a Mii Wizard. Pit: That staff... Oof... Viridi: Oh? Reminding you of a certain Eggplant Wizard? Pit: Yeah. Not a fan. Couldn't stop tasting it for weeks... Palutena: Well, the Mii Wizard does also have a similar level in magical ability. They'll know all sorts of spells, so be sure to be careful. Although, lucky you, they're not going to have any transformation spells... I think. Pit: Y-Yay...
