This is Sycamore Gap, which forms part of Hadrians Wall in Northumberland.

This iconic tree is over 200 years old and is visited regularly. It received notoriety throughout the world after it was chosen as a location in the film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, which starred Morgan Freeman and Kevin Costner.

A mindless 16 year old thug thought it would be fun to take a chainsaw to it and two nights ago, presumably when his parents thought he was in bed, the tree that was a source of pleasure to millions, was hacked to the ground. Since it was destroyed the teenager and a second person - a 60 year old man - have been arrested.

I’ve gone way past sadness and am angry. Extremely angry.

It’s symptomatic of what a screwed up world we live in. A society in which no-one gives a toss.

So someone or someones decided to go out in bad weather during the night and with a chainsaw, fell a 200/300 year tree for no reason at all. Said tree was healthy and has been an iconic image for the UK, not to mention its placement in a natural dip along side an almost 2,000 year old Roman wall...said tree and wall also made famous for being in the 1991 movie Robin Hood and the prince of thieves...but...seriously...

Although I do love that a nearby pup has offered up a reward of a £1,500 bar tab for anyone who can give the police any information leading to an arrest and conviction for felling the tree.

But seriously...what is this planet coming too? That people decide that they want to go out and commit criminal damage to property that doesn't belong to them and to ruin a perfectly healthy tree in the process.

The fact that a 16-year old has been arrested in connection is just shocking...but we all know that he didn't do it alone, not with the professionalism of the felling.

4. favorite movie?

It’s a tie between Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. It made me fall in love with Kevin Costner!

A checkup has shown, he said, that no men escaped, no guards were injured, no guns were found in possession of inmates, and the insurrection was entirely futile.

The prison was designed to accommodate 2,000 prisoners and the population today is 3,770.

Robin Hood Prince of Thieves Rp

The Blog I want to use for this RP is @scarletwilliam

I find myself longing to do a Prince of Thieves Rp, as in Robin Hood prince of Thieves, I would be the one playing Will Scarlet for this - and we discuss this more in detail in pms but ideally I want want to do something platonic between Will and Robin so I am looking for someone willing to play Robin of Loxley/Robin Hood, I don’t have a specific plot for this but I would happy to come up with something together.

I am fine for you to take inspiration from other versions of Robin outside of the 1991 Prince of Thieves I just won’t personally, not for Will Scarlet, I actively despise any other versions of Will Scarlet’s character because they feel wrong to me - and yes I am well aware Christian Slater can’t do a British accent to save his life but still I heavily prefer his portrayal of Will Scarlet and I do want to stick to the Prince of Thieves sub storyline of him being Robin Hood’s younger half brother, I just need this.
