Burglars who forced the rear door of a tavern at 2431 Frontenac street, owned by Osias Christin stole two revolvers, $2 in cash and cigarettes worth $77, it was reported to No. 13 station. Then, forcing a door which connected with a neighboring cigar store owned by L. P. Masse, they secured $250 worth of cigarettes, $5 in cash and playing cards worth $10.

The display window of J. Grothe's Jewelry store at 1011 St. Lawrence boulevard was broken and four watches and two rings worth $50 stolen, he reported to No. 4 station.

Three rifles, six hunting knives and a number of flashlights, the lot worth about $80, were stolen from the hard- ware store of J. N. Ravary, 4011 St. Catherine street east, it was re- ported to No. 34 station. A skylight was broken to gain entrance.

A radio worth $385 was stolen from the home of Emile Bisson, 1450 Bennett street, No. 34 station was informed. The rear door of the house was forced.

Ancient Scythian Gold Jewelry Stolen From Ukraine Recovered in Spain

An Orthodox Church priest is among the five people accused of trying to sell the pieces, taken after being put on display at a Kyiv museum between 2009 and 2013.

The Spanish authorities have seized Scythian jewelry worth €60m (£52m) they say was stolen from Ukraine.

Police said the 11 ancient gold pieces were smuggled out of Ukraine in 2016 to be resold in Spain.

The bracelets, necklaces and earrings, from the 8th to 4th Centuries BC, had forged documents saying they belonged to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

Five arrests were made previously as part of an investigation into the 2021 sale of a gold belt with rams' heads.

The Scythians were a nomadic people who dominated parts of eastern Europe and Asia, including what is now southern Ukraine, from around 800 BC until 400 AD. They were known for their rich cultural heritage and metalworking skills, particularly in the manufacture of elaborate gold jewelry.

Separately, the Ukrainian authorities said last week that they had recovered 14 archaeological items allegedly stolen from areas occupied by Russia. A Russian man was arrested after attempting to smuggle them into the US.

The items include a Neolithic axe dating from approximately 5,000-3,000 BC.

"It's safe to say that Ukraine has received a new shipment of weaponry. The only catch is that this weaponry is incredibly ancient," Ukraine's acting Minister of Culture Rostyslav Karandieiev wryly noted at a news conference.

Artifacts created by the Scythian civilisation are among Ukraine's best-known historical heritage.

Ukrainian archaeologists say Scythian gold held in Ukrainian museums in areas under Russian occupation has been looted since the full-scale invasion last year.

Losses from alleged Russian plundering of Ukraine's historical and artistic heritage are estimated to run into the hundreds of millions of euros.

Oh yeah also whenever the brainrot or stress gets too bad my brain enters magpie mode and I go raid literally wherever I can looking for little trinkets I can claim and take back to my room. The Lego Elves thing was actually brought on because I went into a closet thinner than I am, removed like five increasingly heavy boxes, removed the Lego box, and then put everything else back where it was before. I will spend HOURS doing this. "Out The Window Into Penitentiary," Winnipeg Tribune. February 18, 1943. Page 11. ---- PLEADING guilty in county court today, on charges of breaking and entering and theft, two men were sentenced by Judge Cory to serve three years each in the penitentiary.

The men were Stanley Chaban, 878 Aberdeen ave., and Edward Haas, 524 Dufferin ave. They broke into the home of Charles Kirchgeusner, 606 Church ave.. Oct. 8, 1942, and stole rings valued at $70 and $8 cash.

In leaving the house, Chaban and Haas broke through a window and were cut by glass. Later they appeared at the home of Dr. Frank Rybak, 359 Selkirk ave., for treatment. When the doctor suggested hospitalization, they refused and warned him that if he informed police of their injuries they would take reprisals against him.

Massive Bronze Age Gold Torc Stolen From Ely Museum

Curators are "devastated" after gold objects dating back 3,000 years to the Bronze Age were stolen from a museum.

A gold torc and a gold bracelet were stolen during a break-in at Ely Museum on Tuesday.

The museum acquired the torc, valued at £220,000, in 2017 using grants and donations and it said the loss was a "huge blow".

Cambridgeshire Police said it was looking for two suspects on e-scooters who were believed to be involved in the burglary.

'Cannot be replaced'

Elie Hughes, a museum curator, said: "We are devastated by the loss to the museum and to the local heritage of the region.

"It is a huge blow after the incredible support from the community in acquiring the torc in 2017.

"As a culturally significant object, it cannot be replaced. Our priority now is working with the police to locate the stolen objects."

Both items were found in East Cambridgeshire by metal detectorists.

The torc, found in a ploughed field, is regarded as the best found in England in more than a century as it is larger than many other examples and made of 730g (1lb 10oz) of almost pure gold.

Det Insp Kiri Mazur said: "The theft of these items is despicable and we are focused on identifying the offenders, tracing the items, and returning them to their rightful place.

"We are working closely with staff at Ely Museum to follow all lines of inquiry.

“I am very keen to hear from anyone who may be able to provide information or saw two people on e-scooters who were in the vicinity the museum, car park and pedestrian walkways at the back of the museum, the council offices and the Grange Car Park, between 12am and 2am [on Tuesday].”

She took one of the shorter and thinner chains from around her neck and placed it around Bakura’s instead.

“There. I knew something looked off, I just couldn’t put my finger on it before. How can you still call yourself the Thief King without a few stolen-from-a-corpse pretties around your neck? I think I may have to find you a few more at some point, but not right now.”

She casually lifted one of the chains still around her own neck. “Right now I think we should get what we can out of this uglier stuff and then head home. I’m certain the little ones aren’t happy with how long we’ve been gone.”
