It was more than a little uncomfortable, and the only time he did it, but he was 13 and desperately awkward because you know 13 and neither of the twins had ever acknowledged fathers day, because he’s not. Della and Donald never thought of him as anything but Their Uncle, but when you’re 13 you feel weird things and think weird thoughts, so he got a weird, stereotypical dad gift for Father’s Day because he was The Man Raising Them Now.

He gave it to him wrapped, though, in the middle of the hall, and Donald couldn’t bring himself to say happy fathers day because he knew it was weird, and Scrooge couldn’t say thank you or comment on it because Donald hadn’t said it explicitly first, so they just stood there awkwardly before Scrooge said “It’s very nice,” and Donald mumbled something neither of them could understand before fleeing.

Scrooge flipped it open later to find a string of numbers “engraved” on the inside pocket (scraped out with a needle on the leather), but he was too uncomfortable to ask. Donald never told him they were the coordinates of the mansion all smooshed together, because in a moment of awkward pre-teen sentiment, the idea was so that he’d know how to come home. But Scrooge wasn’t sentimental, and he’d think it was STUPID, of course he knew how to get home, he lived there, and he’d probably scoff at the symbolism, so he just let it be.

Ages later, Scrooge figured it out, but too much time had passed, and they hadn’t talked about it since, and Donald never made any allusion to the sentiment ever again.

Anyway they suck at talking, but Scrooge kept it.

Boba stares at him blankly, not understanding what that has to do with his staying in prison for the rest of his life.

Tenten glances over his shoulder and then crouches down so he’s at Boba’s eye level. He brushes the back of his scarred knuckles across Boba’s cheek. “They’ll try to harvest cells from us, but we’re too edited—impure. You, on the other hand, are untouched. Tsad Droten is churning through us like mulch, they will approach you soon with a plea bargain.”

“Gar’gotal ner mav’cuyi.” The words fall from Boba’s numb lips before he can take them back. “Why?”

Tenten rocks back onto his heels, plastoid bucket scraping against his thigh plate. The silence drags on forever, long enough that Boba starts to think that he isn’t going to get an answer.

Then, finally, Ten’ika says, “Gar buir ru’juri skira. N’cuyi harycne viini goyust ures kyr.”

Mini translations:

Kih’ori’vod: little big brother (different from ori’kih’vod which means tiny brother)

Gar’gotal ner mav’cuyi: roughly, you manufactured a way to free me. lit. You create my freedom (mav being free and cuyi being exist)

Gar buir ru’juri skira: roughly, your father was burdened by revenge. Lit. Your parent carried revenge.

N’cuyi harycne viini goyust ures kyr: roughly, I won’t become exhausted running a path without an end. Lit not exist (most) tired running path without end.

Meanwhile Bailu is just kind of hanging in there, no idea what's happening but thrilled she slipped away from the Preceptors and gets to explore the universe.

reader who can’t stand satoru but then he gets hit by a curse that turns him into a cat. you find him, to his dismay, and take him home, only for him to realize how different you are when he isn’t around to pester you.

at first, he causes a lot of trouble. breaking things in your house, tearing up the pillows. he just wants to be a human again, but nobody can understand him! but you still take care of him and coddle him no matter how much trouble he causes, so different from how people treat him normally, as if he were a nuisance (which he kind of was on purpose). and he finds himself falling for you without realizing it.

so he stops being a bad cat, steadily losing hope that he’ll ever be human again. and satoru would be lying to himself if he said he didn’t enjoy how you stroked him while you read a book or let him sleep beside you at night. maybe it wasn’t so bad? so he decided then if he was going to be just a cat, he was fine with being your cat.

the higher-ups had taken note of his absence, obviously, and he only knows cause you’ve mentioned it to him. you had this endearingweird quirk where you’d talk to him as if he were a real person.

throughout his stay in your home as a house pet, satoru finds out a lot about you. you’ve always kept to yourself, but you vent your frustrations out to him while he’s like this, and he offers his comfort the best he can. which you appreciate, rewarding him with kisses that he secretly enjoys.

once he turns human again, by some miracle, his first thought is to go and find you. and when he does, you give him the cold shoulder like you used to, and it surprises him. before he realizes that, ah, he wasn’t your pet anymore. he was gojo satoru.

satoru realizes his feelings for you in that moment. when he feels the ache in his chest from your dismissive behavior, it leads him to starting his most important mission yet—winning your heart once more.

but this time, it’ll be as a person, not a damn cat.
