Eight years later…

Fura, the girl that Grantis had saved, is now eighteen years of age and has grown into a beautiful young woman. She was now wandering through the forest, a wicker basket in hand as Grantis had asked her to go out and collect some edible plants. Following her flying from branch to branch was Chambers, her pet Archaeopteryx. Occasionally he would land on her shoulder whenever he was too tired and allow his master to stroke his head. 

Eventually the two stopped when Fura heard some rather loud sounds. To the left of them was  a clearing where a herd of Iguanodon, large quadrupedal dinosaurs. The herd consisted of both adults and juveniles, male and female alike.The youngsters played with each other while the adults kept watch over them. Fura had always loved watching animals; there was something almost relaxing about it. She then took notice of two juveniles, a male and a female, playfully chasing each other, and Fura couldn't help but smile at how cute they seemed.

The two youngsters started moving further away from the herd and towards the thick foliage at the edge of the clearing. This ended up making Fura a little nervous, because when separated from the safety of the adults, the young were vulnerable to predators. 

As soon as they reached the edge of the clearing, something jumped out from the bushes, attempting to pounce on one of the young Iguanodons. It was a Deinonychus, or a raptor as some people call them; a Human sized carnivorous Dinosaur that almost looked like a large bird. Soon another raptors pounced out of the bushes followed by three more, all attempting to get the young Iguanodons. The two young herbivores attempted to run back to the herd, but the swifter and more agile Deinonychus managed to catch up with them. Because she was slower, the young female has become the intended target.

The Deinonychus pounced on the youngster, using their hooked claws on their feet to latch on to her body, using their teeth to rip and tear at its flesh. Fortunately, the Iguanodon’s cries of distress got the attention of the herd, and an adult male, possibly her father, raced to her rescue. The first thing it did was headbutt one of the raptors off her back and began to swipe his spiked thumbs at the others, causing them to back off, but they did not retreat. Because of this, the father stood over his offspring and started to swipe at any of the raptors that came close. However, the Deinonychus began to jump on him and he was desperately trying to shake them off. The sight of this made Fura’s  blood run cold as visions of frightened people running for their lives as men in red and black slaughtered them with curved swords and spears. It was a memory from her past she remembered all too well; she remembers the screams of terror, parents clutching their children close and blood spewing from people as swords slashed their bodies.

Fura was instantly brought back to the present and was brought back to the sight of the adult Iguanodon fighting off the Deinonychus to protect its offspring. Fura felt she had to do something, even when she knew she shouldn’t. After all, Grantis had told her this was common in the lives of wild animals, but she couldn't let anyone go through what she did. And so, without thinking, she dropped her basket and began to run toward the conflict while Chambers started making screeching sounds, as if he was telling her to come back.

As soon as she ran into the clearing and yelled out “Hey you!" The raptors quickly turned to her direction. Once their aggressive looking faces stared right at her, Frua had realized the great mistake she had made.

"Oh, I should have thought this through,” she muttered nervously to herself as she looked back at the Deinonychus, confused by the human’s sudden appearance.

It was when they realized both Iguanodons had used this distraction to return to the safety of the herd that their expressions changed from bewilderment to anger, and they began to slowly approach Fura, hissing at her. Fura started to back away from them, her hands extended as if trying to calm them.

She then kept slowly walking backwards until her back bumped up against a tree and that was the moment the raptors chose the attack. Three of them pounced at her at the same time, but she fortunately managed to jump out of the way in time, causing the raptors to collide with the tree, which gave Fura an opening to make a run for it. Fura ran as fast as her legs could carry her. She jumped over logs and ducked under tree branches. Fura had no idea where she was going; all she knew was that she had to get as far away from those things as possible. As she started climbing up a hill, a loud hissing sound made her look behind her, and sure enough, there were the Deinonychus, swiftly running at her and moving through the forest with great agility, their wing-like arms spread out to help steer them. Fura was so preoccupied with them that she didn't see the log in front of her and she tripped and fell flat on her face. As she picked herself back up, she saw the raptors getting closer. Looking at the log, she got an idea. Using her legs, she pushed the log hard enough that it started to roll down the hill toward her pursuers, who quickly turned tail and ran as soon as they saw this large object coming at them. As soon as she saw them vanish, Fura stood up and rested against a tree to catch her breath; after all that running, her lungs felt like they were on fire. However she knew she had to keep moving, for she knew Deinonychus didn't just give up so easily.

As she turned a corner around the tree, there was a Deinonychus right there, hissing at her. She slowly started to back away from it until her head hit on a low hanging branch, which gave her another idea. She moved behind it and started to pull it back as the raptor started to crouch low ready to pounce, and once it leapt at her, she let go of the branch and it swung forward and hit the raptor so hard the branch broke into a million pieces and knocked the predator onto its back. Once again, Fura took this opportunity to get away. She continued to run up the hill, not looking back as she did not want to get distracted again. She reached the top of the hill but she stopped when she was met by a deep gorge.

She turned to head back only to find the Deinonychus pack standing right in front of her. She was trapped, nowhere to run and nothing she could use to her advantage, and with the raptors coming closer and closer to her, she knew this was going to be the end so she closed her eyes and started to pray that it would be quick. However, before they could attack, a loud sound echoed through the forest, which caused Fura to open her eyes. The Deinonychus all perked up their heads; they knew it was the sound of another Deinonychus pack. The idea of another pack in their territory did not sit well with them. So they left to deal with these intruders, not even giving Fura a second glance leaving her bewildered at what just happened. But before she could think about it anymore, it was heard again, only this time it sounded closer, as if whatever was making it was right there, and the realization of that caused Fura to scream and flinch so hard she tripped over her own feet and fell on her bottom.

However, upon listening closer, she could tell the direction it was coming from, and her attention was brought to a tree; perched on one of its branches was Chambers making the sound. Fura just smiled in relief at this realization, remembering that Archaeopteryx had the ability to mimic other creatures’ sounds.

Fura smiled as she picked herself up and held out her arm towards her pet and called out to him, "Chambers, come.”

The Archaeopteryx then flew down and landed on her arm as she began to gently stroke his head, “Good boy, Chamber,” she said sweetly before letting him climb on her shoulder.

“Come on, let's go home,” she told him as they headed back to the safety of their home

I think of getting chased. No, hunted. Hunted down in a dim forest by a mask man. I’m running and I’m out of breath. Just when it seem like I can no longer run, I trip. Falling over a moss covered log, I scrambling to hind behind it, covering my mouth to muffle my breathing—I can hear his footsteps. There is adrenaline rushing through my veins. My heart is pumping, and I’m hot. Hot and overwhelmed at the thought of being found. I let out a whimper, and the footsteps go quiet. After what feels like an eternity, I’m grabbed, my back slams against a tree. One hand around my throat the other gripping my hip. I’m caught. Helpless, and completely at his mercy…

#1 - Steer

wasn't sure what to do with this one until my new au'ra boy decided that actually he's part of a time travel au lol

“Why are you leaving?"

He stills. The rope is heavy in his hands and he focuses on the weave of it, terrified of what he’ll see if he looks up. “Nahbdeen…”

“I don’t understand, Nadir,” his cousin’s boots are heavy against the dock. “All you’ve - all we’ve ever wanted is to join the Host, to give thanks to our Satrap and serve our people. Less than a moon ago it was all you could talk about, what has changed?”

Everything.

Everything has changed, Nadir knows. He bites his tongue, swallows back iron, and closes eyes that burn. “I am sorry, but I cannot-” His words fail him - never has he lied to the other but the truth is something he can never say.

“Will you not even look at me, brother?”

He’s a coward.

He opens his eyes anyway, feet braced, and looks up to see his cousin and not the blasphemy he became. Nahbdeen stands there in his training armour, looking so painfully young and unburdened, even with the evidence of sleepless nights that sits on his face.

There is no terror in his eyes.

No toxic, malignant aether swirling around his form as he screams and his form shudders and changes and-

“I must do this, brother,” he says, low and steady. Nadir’s hands clench tightly around the rope still in his hands and he misses the man in front of him so much that it hurts to breathe. But he chose this.

When his Satrap had asked those remaining, he had volunteered. He had chosen to give up the armour of the Host, the armour that he had lived and died in, and sworn to this cause.

He chose this and Nadir is a coward but he loves his country, he loves his Satrap, and he loves his cousin. He will not sway from this course. Not even for the oaths he and his brother had sworn together as boys, as men, that mean so much to both of them.

Nahbdeen stares at him, heartbreak writ upon his face as he reads the conviction the he feels, and then his face changes. It closes off and, with a nod, his cousin turns away.

Nadir rocks back, absorbing the blow, and his hands shake. “You will be the very best of the Host,” he calls out. It is the truth and an apology and a goodbye at once.

His brother doesn’t glance back.

He doesn’t, cannot, offer to stay.

Swallowing back against the burning of his throat, he sets his shoulders and nods to himself. “It shall be worth it,” he whispers to himself. Even if Nahbdeen hates him now, it will still be worth it.

He is a member of the Radiant Host and he swore an oath to Master Vrtra that it would be worth it.

Their people will not die again.

Nadir casts sail to Eorzea, determined to steer towards a better future.

I mean....it's not the SAME, but Skar King is reminding me a whole lot of Chaos from that game.

this is the prologue of my story called Primal Empire so if you guys would be so kind as to give me some tip of what I could do to change this.

Grantis moved through the forest of tall conifer and deciduous trees, being careful not to get distracted or let his guard down, as you can never be too careful in these woods; after there was a reason it is referred to as the untamed woods. All around him were the sounds of the Enantiornithes birds and small animals such as Leptictidium scurrying through the underbrush. He ignored them as best he could as he tried to listen for the sound of a prowling predator or a potential prey. Walking alongside him was Bhoot, his pet Dire Wolf how was sniffing the ground to pick up the scent of prey.

Suddenly, Bhoot stopped and pointed his nose in a certain direction. This means he's picked up the trail of an animal. Quietly, Grantis made his way in the direction Bhoot had pointed. The big canine followed the scent trail, moving just as carefully as his master over the leaves, shrubs and twigs trying not to make as much noise as possible. Grantis eventually came to a stop and gently moved a foliage branch out of his way. Then he spotted their target three Hoplitomeryx, a strange ungulate that resembles a deer. 

They were casually grazing on shrubs and leaves; they hadn't raised their head or perked up their ears yet, meaning they did not suspect Grantis’ or Bhoots' presence, which was perfect for them. Grantis then slowly reached for an arrow that was stored on the quiver on his back while being careful not to make any noise. He then raised his bow and pulled the string back, taking aim at the one closest to him; pointing the arrow tip at the creature's side where the heart was to ensure a quick death. However, right as he was about to let the arrow fly, a high pitched scream echoed through the forest, scaring the Hopitomeryx and they bolt off.

"Shit!" Grantis cursed as his arrow flew past its target.

Then his mind quickly changed from frustration over his loss to the realization that the scream meant that someone was in distress, but who could be all the way out here? Regardless, he knew he had to investigate it, so he quickly ran in the direction he heard the scream, clawing through the branches and plants in his way with Bhoot tagged along with him. He stopped when he saw three men standing over something. He assumed they were bandits because of their attire. The three men turned around as soon as Grantis burst out of the foliage, giving him a view of what they were standing over; it was a little girl. On the girl’s face was an expression of pure terror, and after looking around, Grantis saw two men lying dead on the ground. They must have been Hanakuni soldiers due to their Tatami armor.

“Hey, you lost, old man?” one of the bandits asked him.

“Well, mind telling me what is the meaning of this?” Grantis replied, not really asking a question, as he could already tell what was going on by the surroundings.

“You know, attacking a child is frowned upon,” he told them.

“We don't care as long as we get what we want, now beat it!" Another bandit yelled.

"I'm afraid I can't do that,” Grantis informed them before drawing out his knife.

“Now stand aside,” he warned them. Bhoot growled, bearing his teeth, but the bandits just laughed, then drew their swords.

“You’re way over your head here, old timer,” another one mocked. 

“Three against two? I like these odds” Grantis then let out a whistle, and as if waiting for it, Bhoot jumped at one of the bandits, knocking him to the ground. The other two bandits watched in horror as the large dog tore him apart and his screams of terror and pain were fading. Eventually, one of them lifted his sword in a desperate attempt to save him. However, his attack was countered by Grantis, who managed to block the sword blow with his knife. The bandits were shocked by this, and even more so when Grantis managed to push him back. He started to swing wildly at him, but he managed to dodge each and every one of his attacks. As that was happening, the last bandit figured he should do something, so he managed to get behind Grantis and then swung his sword right for his neck. But Grantis could tell it was coming due to the man yelling, so he managed to avoid that attack as well, which resulted in the bandit accidentally decapitating his friend. The last bandit takes a minute to comprehend what he had just done; his eyes were full of shock, but that shock burns into anger as he turns his attention to Grantis. He then begins swinging wildly at him with his sword, while Grantis does his best to avoid the attacks as they become quicker and more erratic.

Grantis managed to block one blow, but the force of the impact was so strong that it knocked Grantis on his back and caused him to drop his knife. The bandit smiled as he stood over his victim, raising his sword up over his head, ready to strike. However he never got the chance; Bhoot jumped on him, trying to get at his throat while the man tried to push him off. After a few moments, the bandit threw the Dire Wolf off of him. He was ready to kill Bhoot, but at that point Grantis had already gotten back on his feet, and using one of his arrows, he jabbed it right into the man's jugular. The last bandit fell to the ground, clutching his neck and blood poured out of it, until he eventually stopped moving afterwards, succumbing to his fatal wound.

Grantis then fell to his knees in exhaustion; he hadn't fought like that in years. However, a soft cry made him remember the girl. He turned to find her curled up in a ball, and she was shaking like a leaf. Grantis then approached the child and placed his hand on her shoulder, but in response, she screamed and backed away from him. Grantis then held up his hands to assure her that he meant no harm. This also allowed him to get a better look at her. She appeared to be around ten years of age, and given her skin color and narrow eyes, she must have been from the kingdom of Hanakuni. She wore a purple kimono-like robe with a light blue flower pattern on it. She had black hair that was tied in a bun. She was also clutching something in her arms. Upon closer examination, it turned out to be a juvenile Archaeopteryx. He could tell it was a youngster not just because of its size, but also its gray, downy feathers.

"Hey, it's okay. I'm not going to hurt you,” Grantis told her in a soft gentle voice. He then set down his bow and arrows so he appeared less intimidating, "I just wanted to help you.”

He then held out his hand for her to take. The girl just looked at him for a few seconds with tear-filled eyes, not sure what to do. After all, she didn't know this man or even understand what he was saying as his language was different then hers. but at the same time, he did save her life, and she was not capable of taking care of herself. So, she took his hand.

The new Monsterverse villain reminds me of Chaos from Primal Rage. In fact Monsterverse as it’s been progressing feels like Primal Rage.

Maaaan, as much as I love the OST and the fight itself being pretty cool, shinryu being the final boss of stormblood feels so unearned the more I think of it 💀

The previous two final bosses at least had more build up and made sense story wise, like, both the Ultima Weapon and were the end result of the antags' scheming, and their reveal was a huge moment in the story. Finding out zenos has shinryu under his control should have been a huge "oh shit!!!!!" moment to cause tension throughout the expansion and be something that the alliance should be dreading and trying to find a contingent against and all that, not a last second reveal where you're just like "oh btw, zenos has shinryu, go fight him rq to end the expac"

What is the scariest film you’ve ever seen?

For me it’s a tie between Inland Empire (2006) and Skinamarink.

Both of which I loved.

Terrifying stuff

Skinamarink got me in an indescribable way no other movie has ever gotten me before. I know that movie doesn't work for most people, but it unlocked a primal deep-rooted fear from within my soul.

I’ve been seeing a lot of posts around social media talking about people hearing the call of Hekate, The Morrigan, and Lilith.

I’m not here to dissuade any of that, just want to remind my fellow pagans and witches that there are a plethora of other deities you can work with in regards to what we’re all currently going through and anticipated to go through.

As a Hellenic Polytheist here are some of my suggestions:

Aphrodite (especially her war side, yes Aphrodite has a war side)

Ares (THE feminist of the pantheon, I will die on that hill)

Artemis (protector of women and children, killer of dickheads, a witch, and a primal goddess. Don’t sleep on her!)

Athena (THE strategist. She’s going to lead you to the path of victory)

Dionysus (THE revolutionist. Dionysus is the destroyer of empires and harbinger of change. Especially in regard to women. Their maenads are lethal to men who try to oppress and suppress them)

Eris (MY GIRL! I mean this bitch started the Trojan War with an Apple. Do I need to say more??)

Demeter (Also a witch and single handedly brought two of the 3 kings to their knees and almost destroyed the entire world because she went against the patriarchy. This is the goddess you want to fight alongside of in this battle! Stop sleeping on her!)

Hera (Arguably the most terrifying deity in the entire pantheon. Even Zeus is terrified of her. She lead the Greeks to victory in the Trojan War using her rage, spite, and power. And she can do the same for us!)

There are of course other deities especially in other pantheons. And you can absolutely and should lean on the deities you already have relationships with. This is just a suggestion in case you would like to connect with a new deity for the collective work we are preparing to do.
