The two annuals Calendula officinalis 'Neon' (pot marigold) and Orlaya grandiflora (white laceflower) were creating a show in a bed adjacent to the wildflower meadow of Great Dixter, Sussex, providing an additional food source for pollinators.

The undersuit of the outfit is black to help the yellow stand out, and the main outfit is indeed yellow- and accent colors include red, black, gray, white, blue, silver, gold, and cream. The boots, belt, and fingerless gloves can be seen having patterns themed around the pot marigold, and the only other accessory is a yellow pot marigold flower hairpin in Iggy’s hair. The flower’s petal shape can be seen in the tailcoat, collar, and sleeves.

Yes, I'm still seed collecting! Today the lovely Calendula pods with lovely, bright blooms in sunny colors and heights. From the short bush varieties to the tall stately plants. Next year, I'm going to be scattering these seeds everywhere in my yard, front and back! Calendula bloom from July right up until a hard frost in late October.

In this vegetable garden these Calendula officinalis (common marigold, goldins, Mary's gold, pot marigold, Scotch marigold) plants provide a slash of colour and a food source for pollinators. This fast growing annual or biennial has aromatic leaves and long succession of flowers from summer into the autumn until the first frosts.

The undersuit of the outfit is a jet black so the bright orange stands out, with the main outfit being a bright orange- but with hints of yellow and later greenish-yellow as you make your way to the middle of the outfit- with it then fading to yellow and then finally back to orange as you reach the ends of the sleeves, pants, and tailcoat. The boots, gloves, belt, shoulder pads, and leg garter all have subtle patterns inspired by the pot marigold, and the only other accessory that Kirie wears is a pot marigold hairclip in her hair. The pot marigold’s petal shape can be seen in the tailcoat and sleeves.
