I don't typically post things like this, but for my birthday my son got me some blank pine boxes for jewellery and the like. I've had my eye on seed boxes on etsy for ages. But they were quite expensive! I had some old acrylics and paper that I don't typically use in my traditional art. So I decided to use them up. I painted the box I light beige pretty similar to the original wood but I wanted a more even colour out then I used my posca pens for the top and sealed it with pva glue. Not the best. varnish would have been better. But it will do. The inside I used decoupage and I made an insert out of some card I saved from an ikea order. Iam an avid seed collector and iam always on the look out for new flowers for my garden. Iam so happy I made this. The last year I've taken a "break" from my art. I say that iam still painting but not to the extent I was the year prior. I've been decorating my house and making things for my house. My canvas has just changed slightly. I don't really believe in art block, but I do think sometimes you need to change it up and for sure I've definitely needed to top up the Inspiration meter. On Inspiration! Yes, I'm still seed collecting! Today the lovely Calendula pods with lovely, bright blooms in sunny colors and heights. From the short bush varieties to the tall stately plants. Next year, I'm going to be scattering these seeds everywhere in my yard, front and back! Calendula bloom from July right up until a hard frost in late October.

Came across some fresh macadamia nuts to plant in our nursery. First one I sprouted took a year and a half before breaking the surface of the soil. Talk about patience but well worth the wait. Looking forward to these as a future food source.
