Generally, I'm pretty surprised about the news that Jack Doohan will drive the tyre test while Paul Aron runs the young drivers test.

Alpine has two cars. The problem is, they only have one good car, and that's Pierre's. Esteban's car hasn't gotten most of the updates and it was a general fact that it was lacking. Obviously goal for next year is to get the car on good level, similar to Pierre's which managed to secure P6 in the constructors. As far as I know, Esteban's car which was Jack's for the last race didn't get the updates and they won't put them on for tests. I doubt thats even possible.

With two rookies now, it would be important to know who drives which car. For the post season test, it's generally important to note that it has different uses; get next year's rookies a bit more run time (especially in a car that'll be close to the one they'll drive), learn about the problems and plan for next season.

Now, if Jack runs Pierres car, which we'll call the good car here, and Paul the bad one, which was Esteban's, that would mean that they want to see if and how Jack can handle the good car, what he needs to be faster and how they can improve and Paul is just driving the rookies test to get a few miles, the young drivers test is mandatory so maybe they just need to fill a seat because they can't get Pierre for the tyre test so they had to bump Jack up which leaves Paul.

But if Paul is driving the good car, that would be really questionable, especially for Jack, because why would they let this fresh young F2 guy who's (officially) not supposed to drive next season give feedback on the good car while the driver who's actually important gets zero timing whatsoever (Esteban's car was one of the worst, in the end, while Pierre's was easily the fifth fastest often). Even for glory runs it would make no sense to give Paul the better car, because this is still Alpine.
