"In your possession lie fragments of my being,
And within a letter of mine, embered remains reside,
Dampened days of the monsoon I have preserved,
Extinguish that ember, return my belongings,
My precious possessions..."

Poetry by Poet Craig
Experience your true essence.
The River The river flowed that sunny day across the hills and plains. Feeling the freedom of flowing away while giving life to the golden grains. The wind whispered softly in the air whispering thoughts of love. Making the thoughts of lovers flutter like a fleeting snow-white dove. The earth embraced in her arms. The soil and sky, and sea. She nurtured and loved them with her charms so that…

For my dear sister and brother Sometimes I see my mother’s face in the mirror, I wonder if growing up makes things clearer. I ponder if this is my final tragedy, And what does my sister see in her reality? Sometimes I glimpse my father’s gaze in the glass, I wonder if growing up means letting the past pass. I question if this is my last sorrowful plea, And what does my brother see in his reality? -Soulwriter (2021)

Soul of the Earth
By Jazmyn Edmonds
Tumblr media
She sits in the center of an open field, Her tears rooted in the soil, Surrendering to the chaos is all she's ever known, yet her spirit remains still. The earth knows her tears, and she carefully listens, seeking meaning on the hill.
Her heart, so pure, yet her perception of her divinity so small. She searches for home in shattered glass, making sense of it all.
She loves, She laughs, She dreams.
Searching for meaning beyond her sorrows, Under scattered stars and weeping trees, She waits for whispers of what her heart burns to see.
Through rain, sun, and freshly fallen snow, At the witching hour, enchanted by a moonlit glow, She swims beneath ocean depths where her soul is free to cry, Crafted from the soul of the earth, She is love personified.

Panning
We often trick ourselves into thinking poems need be long and drawn out to extract some sort of truth from the stream of consciousness outpouring from our lips, pen-tips, and keystrokes... like prospectors sifting the earth searching for gold specks in dirt lifted from a river's bed. We must take great care to remind ourselves on occasion that the time we spend looking for golden truth is not nearly as important as where we start our search. written 9/1/2024 @ 7:58pm by Alexander Learmont https://www.patreon.com/Elysianwing

If love was a question
If love was a question Willingly getting lost in someone would be the brief answer If love was a question Don’t ask a descriptive answer My explanation will not be able to justify answer But if the poetry becomes my rescuer, this is what I would’ve answered “With no expectations I’m heading into a path unknown to the mind but yet very known warmth and my heart is smiling I am sure to not…

Knife Through Hearts
I slit a heart with a knife, Slit it deep, through pain and crimes. Till the blade's tip could clearly see, The world beyond, through his Injury..
He held the handle, frozen in pain, Paralyzed as blood did stain. I hugged him tight, from his back, To stop the flow, to feel his crack…
But as I pressed, harder still, The knife turned sharp, against my will. I felt its tip within my chest, Tearing muscles, denying rest.
He hurt more, while I hurt less, Two broken hearts in the deepest mess, He let me pull the blade away, Through tears, through screams, We chose to stay,
We stitched each heart, thread by thread, But my hand shook with a trembling Bloodshed, He stitched his own, then turned to mine, Selfless, calm, a love divine.
Now wounds have healed, though scars remain, The wound is triggered by love and pain. His hurts still ache; I feel them too, The suffering will end with a life that is true,
But time will pass, and the pain will fade, In his arms, my heart is laid. I hug him close, from the back I stay, Together, we'll find a brighter day.

Tumblr media

Poet Craig/ Poetry/ Poem
Across the Ocean Across the ocean I see the foam, the mist that rises, the cloud that storms. The land that lies, the shore that calls, “come home, come home, now one and all.” Look to the ground, I see the sky. We live our life, and live to die. So plant the seeds, to drink the rain. In the name of love, to ease the pain. -Craig Carlson

RUBAIYAT OF OMAR KHAYYAM By Omar Khayyam Rendered into English Verse By Edward Fitzgerald, Illustrated By Edmund J. Sullivan
Tumblr media
"Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam," elegantly translated into English verse by the talented Edward Fitzgerald and accompanied by the exquisite illustrations of Edmund J. Sullivan, stands as a testament to the timeless beauty of Persian poetry and the visual arts.
Edward Fitzgerald's translation of Omar Khayyam's quatrains has long been celebrated for its poetic brilliance. In this rendition, Fitzgerald skillfully captures the essence of Khayyam's philosophical musings, his contemplation of life's transience, and his celebration of the present moment. Each quatrain, rich with profound wisdom and poignant imagery, resonates with readers across cultures and generations. Fitzgerald's language flows with a lyrical cadence, bringing to life the mystique and depth of Khayyam's verses.
What truly elevates this edition of the "Rubaiyat" is the addition of Edmund J. Sullivan's illustrations. Sullivan's artwork, intricate and evocative, complements Khayyam's poetry with visual splendor. His illustrations, reminiscent of Persian miniatures, intricately weave together the themes of love, nature, and the human condition. Each illustration is a masterpiece in itself, capturing the essence of Khayyam's verses and adding a visual dimension to the profound emotions conveyed in the poetry.
The synergy between Fitzgerald's words and Sullivan's illustrations creates a harmonious reading experience. As readers delve into the quatrains, Sullivan's artwork enhances the emotional depth of the verses, allowing readers to immerse themselves fully in Khayyam's world. The illustrations serve as a visual interpretation of the poet's thoughts, enriching the reader's understanding of the nuances embedded in each stanza.
