Poet Craig/ Here's Another One...
Brandy She was all smiles but for only a minute. Then her whole mood changed. I have seen her shift a thousand times. So, I was experiencing nothing strange. Her eyes are what changed from a twinkle full of life to dark brooding pools so far away. Turning darker by thoughts than any night. She was no longer with me how I wish she would stay. She was in the past where she had been caught. She

The Real Last Book Haul of 2023
(I've run out of days to make a liar of myself again 😝)
I really and truly meant for my Barnes & Noble trip to be my final book haul of the year. Really! However I managed to catch a ride to drop off 4 boxes of unhauled books at the local Goodwill bookstore. And maybe I took a look at the shelves before leaving. 😅
The best score of the mini haul is absolutely the sparkling brand new copy of Habibi for $5!!!!!! 💖

Since “Queer” author and Beat writer William Burroughs is about to be all in the news again, and win Daniel Craig his first Oscar for playing him in the movie, I’ve been diving into some classic Laurie Anderson, where he appeared with her several times.

Busy, busy, busy bee And Other Poems
By Michael Craig Busy, busy, busy bee Busy, busy, busy, bee. Buzzing by so busily. Busy, busy, busy, bee. Landing upon a flowering tree. Busy, busy, busy, bee. Nectar sweet is what he seeks. Busy, busy, busy, bee. Flying home so happily. Busy, busy, busy, bee. Honey sweet he makes for me. Mother’s Grace God gave her grace when she was born. With Presence and beauty, she was adorned. Rainer Maria Rilke
Letters to a Young Poet
Translated from German 🇩đŸ‡č
“Why do you want to shut out of your life any uneasiness, any misery, any depression, since after all you don't know what work these conditions are doing inside you? Why do you want to persecute yourself with the question of where all this is coming from and where it is going? Since you know, after all, that you are in the midst of transitions and you wished for nothing so much as to change. If there is anything unhealthy in your reactions, just bear in mind that sickness is the means by which an organism frees itself from what is alien; so one must simply help it to be sick, to have its whole sickness and to break out with it, since that is the way it gets better.”

The River
Poetry by, Craig Carlson The river flowed that sunny day across the hills and plains. Feeling the freedom of flowing away while giving life to the golden grains. The wind whispered softly in the air,  whispering thoughts of love. Making the hearts of lovers flutter, like a fleeting snow-white dove. The earth embraced in her arms,  The soil, and sky, and sea. She nurtured and loved them with

@madatobiweek Day 3: Cultural Differences // Traditions
In the Heian era, courtship traditionally started with the suitor sending a poem to the subject of their affections. Unfortunately for Madara, Tobirama knows nothing about poetry.
History/Tradition explanation time:
Waka poem referenced is #33 of the Kokin Wakashƫ’s Spring I volume, written by an anonymous poet and translated into English by Helen Craig McCullough:
è‰Čă‚ˆă‚Šă‚‚ă‹ă“ăă‚ăŻă‚ŒăšăŠă‚‚ă»ă‚†ă‚ŒăŸăŒèą–ă”ă‚Œă—ă‚„ă©ăźæą…ăžă‚‚
iro yori mo ka koso aware to omoyure ta ga sode fureshi yado no ume zo mo
(More than the colour
it is the fragrance I find
a source of delight
whose sleeve might have brushed against the plum tree beside my house?)
Waka is the oldest known form of classical Japanese style poetry, and is very heavily oriented to love poems. The Kokin Wakashƫ is over a thousand years old! I hc Madara to be heavily into waka as an artform :)
Madara’s face in the last panel is inspired by Ukiyo-e prints of Kabuki actors, I tried my best :’) don’t worry, Tobirama appreciates the effort
