I finally watched the lego ninjago movie and now I can’t stop laughing about that interview where Dave Franco was like ‘yeah so I was in the recording studio doing a real emotional scene sobbing my eyes out then I remembered it was a Lego movie and was like, okay, I need to take it down a notch or two’ because I now know Exactly which scene he was talking about
Earth Day, first observed on 22 April 1970, is considered the beginning of the modern environmental movement.
As a response to increasing environmental concerns, like the oil spill in Santa Barbara in 1969, U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson founded Earth Day to raise awareness about how to protect the environment.
Nelson and activist Denis Hayes organized teach-ins on college campuses that included various groups and organizations, drawing inspiration from protest teach-ins of the era.
With this massive mobilization, the U.S. developed key environmental laws and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was created.
Earth Day 2024 Theme
The theme of Earth Day 2024 is “Planet vs. Plastics.”
This is about fighting the big problem of plastic all over the world. Earth Day organization wants to bring people from different places together.
The goal is to make much less plastic, 60% less by 2040.
We want a future without so much plastic. This is not just about having less trash, but it is also about keeping us and the environment healthy.
Today, we celebrate our incredible planet and all its wonders. From the towering mountains to the deep oceans, Earth is our home and our sanctuary.
As we face the challenges of climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss, it's more important than ever to come together and take action. We must reduce our carbon footprint, conserve our natural resources, and protect our precious wildlife.
Let's make a pledge to live more sustainably, to reduce our waste, and to support renewable energy. Let's plant trees, support eco-friendly policies, and educate ourselves and others about the importance of environmental conservation.
Together, we can make a difference and ensure a healthy, thriving planet for future generations.
I had a dream that during an interview leonard nimoy talked about a cut scene during TOS where spock was on a space station teaching a group of children from a bunch of different races - human, klingon, andorian, cardiassian (even tho they were introduced in TNG iirc), etc - about appreciating the value of every creature's life, all while holding/petting a tiny brown bunny near his chest and the gentlest of smiles and it was the sweetest thing
I vaguely remember him saying something along the lines of "these little four legged devils are the bane of doctor McCoy's existence, but still hold many virtues" and it was precious. Nimoy said something like he wanted spock to smile even the tiniest bit during the scene because it's something he truly believes in (IDIC) and is passing along to children; his father was a teacher as well as an ambassador and spock eventually becomes one too in twok (and in many ways this smile was leonard nimoy shining through the character of spock)
My #1 advice for people moving out is to NOT buy nonstick cookware... not only is the lifespan of nonstick a MAXIMUM of 7 years (usually more like 2-5 years) but teflon, aka Polytetrafluoroethylene-- the plastic coating that makes the cookware nonstick, infuses microplastics into your food.
New cookware sets can cost hundreds of dollars so my advice is to look for 100% stainless steel cookware in thrift stores. Safer, cheaper, & instead of needing to replace every 2-7 years they can potentially last you the entire rest of your life AND they won't start shedding plastic into your food
I can very clearly remember buying this issue of BRAVE AND THE BOLD on a regular trip to the 7-11, for no particular reason. B & B wasn’t a title that I was all that in tune with, and so my readership of the series would ebb and flow, often based on who the guest-star was that particular issues. Over the preceding couple of months, I had gotten into the habit of buying it, and so that pattern…
I know a few but not all of them, who are all your Dana crushes?
Feel free to gush too 👍👍👍
There’s Scratch/Todd, a ghost (the blue ghost with the big nose) who separated from his body that literally “gave up the ghost” and eventually goes back to his body (Todd) that was kinda on auto pilot after being separated. Not only is both this character’s ghost and human design is cute, but I relate to his character the most and helped pull me out of a dark place at the time when the series first started. So he means a lot to me.
Master Shake, a giant talking, narcissistic and selfish milkshake that was an experiment from a mad scientist. Shake was my first of Dana crushes since I use to stay up late at night watching the show as a kid.
Baby Ball is a crass and cynical game ball that’s apart of a post-apocalyptic world were him and his teammates fight other players. His design is simple and cute, especially his gap teeth!
Danger Planet, a sentient arcade cabinet who gets stranded on a planet who protects a human baby that him and another bot found from, well, a dangerous planet. He only showed up in a cartoon pilot but his excitement for every thing is adorable!
Gazpacho is a woolly mammoth fruit fruit vendor that wants to be a stand up comedian who lives with his overbearing mother. He’s big and pathetic but also great with kids!
Question Hound is a comic character that you might recognize as the “Everything Is Fine” meme who Dana voiced in an TV bumper and then had a spin off comic.
Now this one character (the green octopus looking alien) only shows up in one episode but was named “Puppet Master” on his character sheet but his story is that he was exiled on a moon for crimes against the universe and puppets people into being his friend out of loneliness.
And then there’s Dr. Colosso, an evil villain from a live action sitcom who got turned into a bunny and forced to live with a family of superheroes. He’s very hammy and over the top which makes him fun to watch!
