Beauty and the Beast for the WIP game?

My only real attempt at writing poetry before this year happened during a stretch when I tried to write a Beauty and the Beast retelling in verse. I got about two-thirds of the way through before it fizzled out and languished forever unfinished.

When it comes to my recent novel-in-verse obsession, the simplest option would be to take another look at this work and try to finish it. There's a lot of terrible poetry in there, but there are some that are somewhat better than I remember. I can't claim to be a judge of what's good poetry, but some of these are readable, so I'll share some of them here.

The first set of semi-readable poems covers the first meetings between Beauty and the Beast. (These are all numbered, and I'm leaving the numbers in place to better differentiate between separate poems. I think the speaker in most of these is fairly clear from context, but just in case, I'll put the speaker's name in the title, too.)

VI. beauty and beast

he is every nightmare i’ve ever forgotten he is thunder and darkness and death he is fear with fangs he is beastly

she is every dream i’ve never dared for she is roses and sunlight and life she is hope with jewels she is beauty

the chair creaks when he sits

The next set of poems I feel like sharing starts with Beauty finding a portrait in the castle, and then leads into her sharing a dance with Beast that makes her kind of freak out over the fact that she might be falling in love.

today you found a painting in a long-forgotten room covered in cobwebs and shrouded in dust

there was a reason it was lost

the portrait showed a man with a face like the dawn and eyes like the sea you thought he looked kind

he was young and a fool

you may keep it if you wish or lock it back in darkness it matters not to me i used to see him daily

i doubt i’ll see his face again

if rooms have souls the ballroom is wise a radiant beauty long past her prime

she treasures the days when she lived and was loved she keeps them and counts them like pearls on a string

long past midnight in moonlight and hush this sleepwalking girl can glimpse former days

a flash of a gown and a whisper of waltz what glorious balls must this room have beheld

(but he grows roses and reads poems and has never killed or even raised his voice)

i heard his voice and thought him a monster

(with grace like an angel or a prince and i think that maybe he was not always so lonely and that his heart aches for things lost)

The final poem is one that I had completely forgotten about, so I was shocked to find it lurking in the latter sections of the document and showing signs of using some decent imagery. By polishing up the last couple of lines, I've got something that's not half bad as a standalone poem.

This one occurs during an extended period when Beauty is still trying to process her feelings toward Beast and figure out if this is really love or if her feelings are being warped by isolation and close proximity.

if this is love it is a dark and grasping love a child stumbling in the night crying for a candle flame and cherishing the smallest spark of light

if this is love it is a bleak and desolate love a skeleton tree in a barren desert windbeaten and scrubbed to bone and bursting into bloom at the first drop of rain

if this is love it is a smoke and mirrors love a sleight of hand or trick of light that takes my broken heart and fools me into thinking he can make it whole

i'm so very predictable ajsfksdfdk i was just rereading a passage from a WIP and doing some light editing and i got to this part where dean is talking abt cas's eyes and i was like. he should be swiping his thumb under one of cas's eyes. that's what's happening here, that's what i see, how did i forget to write that? ok lemme just add a quick line here (highlighted in yellow). then i read on to the next sentence and yup i'd already written it, of course i had (highlighted in blue).

Writing WIP! Hell yeah!

As it is 3 AM... my mind is pulling a blank on who to tag... my apologies! I hereby tag everybody and anybody who would like to join in!

My current WIPs all surround ch.7 for The Jeep Universe (I promise I'm working on it, and on this day, at 3AM.. i shall provide proof)! Though let it be known, that the scene I have typed up (everything else still locked away in my notebook...) is slightly nsfw! Very slight! Nothing graphic, just the beginnings of something!

There aren't any major spoilers for The Jeep Universe under the cut, it's mostly just a sneak peak!

“Don’t say that,” Ice whispered. His voice was kind of broken. Voice kind of hollow and harrowing. Kind of heartbreaking. It made Mav want to say sorry again. He almost did. Please. I’m sorry.

But instead, Maverick said, “Okay.” Because there’s nothing else he could’ve possibly said. The script didn’t tell him he could say anything else. 

There was more manhandling, Ice moving Mav’s body, the bones cracking and moans erupting, from pain or pleasure, neither were sure. Ice still reacted to each sound with a deep breath of his own, a hitch inward, his whole body reacting, full of tremors and shakes, like a whole structure crumbling down. A thumb pressed inward and hit the flesh, pressed deeper like he was trying to dig a hole. And maybe he was. Or still is. Maybe Maverick doesn’t care what Ice wants to do to him as long as he’s there. Doing it. Because he wants to. Because he wants to be around Maverick. Regardless if it’s to dig a hole or patch one up. Maverick will take it, can take it. Willingly take it. 

Mav found himself up against the couch cushions again, his legs spread, his bad knee spread out delicately, and the bulge in his loose boxers was even more obvious. Maverick’s hips shifted unconsciously in search of more friction, a way to convince himself that Ice was touching him directly. 

It went slowly, the way Ice made his way from the armrest to stand in front and over Maverick, his shadow covering all of him, looking down at Mav like that day with the cigarette and the car doors almost slamming shut. But this time, there was no anger. Just the two of them in the dark, everything barely visible, like how they would do it six years ago. Everything was shadowed and secret. A secret with a broken man on the couch with a desperate, broken look from the other standing above. 

No words were exchanged between them. Just the eye contact and the saying without saying. No words. Just the looks as Ice slowly lowered himself to his knees. Maverick heard one of Ice’s knees quietly crack as they bent. They never did that six years ago. Six years. Six years. Six years. Fuck. 

All tentative but firm, Ice placed his burning palms on Maverick’s thighs. Ice looked, and Mav looked back. Maverick coughed lightly. The spell didn’t break this time. Ice watched the whole way through. Ice just closed his eyes when Mav was finally done and whispered. “Please.”

Tips to heal your Saturn/Chiron placement!!

Since Saturn and Chiron both can trigger a natives life with anxiety and a sense of security, here are some things to help you with getting better!🦋

How to heal:

Cause: overthinking - treatment: writing

Writing something when you're overthinking can help a lot! It can simply be a note from your phone or just write in a notebook how was/is your day so far when you feel overthinking

Cause: Anxiety - treatment: Mediation

When you feel like you're anxious, you can try to close your eyes and think at positive things, if you have your phone by your side try to listen to healing music because it usually works, also staying in the sun can help a lot when you're anxious

Cause: Tired - treatment: sleeping

Is really obvious for your body to feel like sleeping when you're tired, but sleeping actually helps your body so much! Especially when you're feeling sad, take a nap because when you'll wake up, you won't feel the same pain

Cause: Sadness - treatment: exercise

When you're feeling sad or low in life because we all have dark days, try to do some things that can keep your mind away from the sad feeling, play a game, play a sport, organize your room, cleaning can help too but remember that when you hold too much sadness inside of you it will burst out sometimes like you just can't hold it anymore and that's perfectly fine because for some people, crying is healing

Cause: Stress - treatment: go for a walk

Going for a walk can help when you're stressed, especially in the morning when the air is so refreshing because it can help to clean your mind, try to leave the house or go in a park/lay on the grass/look at the sky it can help!

Cause: Angry - treatment; listen to music

Maybe at the moment you won't feel like listening to music, especially after a fight or some kind of conflict, but listening to music it can help with chilling yourself after those, and always remember that the specific fight or conflict already ended so you don't have to overthink about it, is away now

Cause: Lazyness - treatment: reduce screen time

The light from our phones/pc/laptop/iPad is not healthy if you constantly spend your time on these. It is good to take a break and clear your mind after a while. Your phones light has also impacted your mood

Cause: Burnout - Treatment: Reading

Reading can help in situations of burnout. If you don't have a book by yourself when you are in such a situation, there are so many online books out there, or even audio ones try to read articles or to just text with people/friends when you feel like it.

There’s not really much to speculate on when it comes to PPT2 episodes. We get little-to-no information regarding the plot. Mostly just out-of-context previews from various scenes and storyboards. The only looks we get into the plot is 4-image tweet from Yellow that represents a part of a bigger scene.

HOWEVER…. I have noticed a pattern regarding the past few merge episodes. They each seem to have a theme of sorts, reflected in the actions of the characters that episode. With the descriptions and dialogue being very forward about the messages it wants to tell, I’m guessing this is very much intentional.

“Living On the Edge” was about change and the various ways it manifests. That being change is inevitable and a natural part of life. You can’t stop it, no matter how much you try. And sometimes, people change for the wrong reasons. The last two sentences mostly apply to Gold Ingot in particular, but you can get a sense of how the new changes have upended a lot of previously established dynamics within the game itself.

“Platinum Puppets” is about how sometimes, the people you hurt aren’t obligated to forgive you, even if you have changed your ways. Post-It Note is usually lenient with his allies’ mistakes, but once Bottle votes him off, he stops giving her any second chances. This runs in parallel with Gold Ingot’s own plot, of course.

“A Rotten Egg”… Isn’t really as overt in it’s theme as the other two are?? From the description and what I can gather, it seems to be about responding to stress, whether it’s breaking out or cracking under the pressure. Chainsaw tries to break Bottle by belittling her, only for her to retaliate with brute force. The constant push-backs frustrate Plasma Ball more and more, until her anger literally blows up in her face. I’m not sure if Ukulele successfully sabotaging without Slipper’s guidance really factors into this theme however.

With this in mind, we can only assume the same will apply to this episode. As Yellow has confirmed on his Discord that this episode will have more focus on Treasure Chest and Cup, there’s a chance that whatever theme this episode has, it will be explored with these two. Or the former, at the very least. The previous episodes seems to be setting something up regarding Treasure Chest. If Treasure Chest is going to last longer, he’s going to have to confront the failings that caused his team to fall apart head on. Eliminating him here wouldn’t do him any good, seeing as his pact with Bottle was just established 2 episodes ago, and it didn’t really have much focus in the previous one. As we have a 50/50 split between the Brackets and everyone else, now would be a good opportunity for the latter to finally start taking action. Treasure Chest has Bottle, who is much more experienced at understanding people and mediating situations than him. Maybe she can nudge him towards the right path. I don’t know if Plasma Ball is ever going to factor into this. I wouldn’t be surprised if she showed reluctance or skepticism towards working with Treasure Chest given past events. Not to mention the fact that Team 47 was sabotaged… Which the narrative doesn’t seem to want to bring up for some weird reason. It would be a let down if she did just go along with no objections whatsoever. The latest episode seems to be setting up an arc for Plasma Ball to manage her anger, so if anything this is killing two birds with one stone. I’m not sure what Yellow has planned for Cup besides not relegating him to gags. I do hope it will focus on Cup’s other traits that the past couple of episodes seemed to have glossed over.

Whatever happens next episode, I at least hope it does something with what’s been established in previous episodes. The contestants can’t keep crumbling to the Brackets forever. (and it's obvious that 3 of them are in no way suited to be runner-up anyway)

my first ever tattoo - jon's handwriting and a wild wave because i love violent sun so much. looking back the handwriting tattoo isn't something i'd do today but it's what got me started on getting tats at all and i had a very positive experience (both w getting it and w asking jon for the writing lmao)

the teeth are not related, for the record. writing is about 6 months healed in this pic and almost 18 months healed now. also i know no one asked but since i love talking about tattoos - this is on the outside of my forearm and the pain was about a 3/10. super easy placement if you want somewhere to put a first tattoo that won't kill you off immediately.

classic lil gth hand. i always forget i have this because it's on the back of my arm (hence the bad photo too, say hello to my ear) but i do rlly love it, my artist did a very good job. it's about 5 months healed in this pic and just under 18 months healed now. this is on the back of my upper arm, the pain was probably a 4/10. a little spicy towards the inside but nowhere near the worst, certainly less painful than the inside of the bicep for instance. i also never find colour that bad (lines are worse imo) but i know some people do, so i guess if you came to this post looking for genuine tattoo advice, take that into consideration

these eyes are, technically, ee related - and please excuse this horrible photo, they're really hard to get a pic of! but me and my artist designed them together based on put me together's bridge - 'is it the darkest night/or is that dawn in your eyes?' it's a very important song to me and i love these tattoos, especially the dawn one with all the little details. it actually looks a little better now it's healed, it's settled into itself a lot more. they're super fresh in this pic (less than a month each, i got them within about a week of each other) and about a year healed now

pain wise this is a rough placement. the bottom one especially was one of my most painful tattoos - probably an 8/10. it proved i could never tattoo my actual knee because i genuinely had a terrible time of it. though weirdly the top one was really easy, probably a 6/10

i find this one incredibly hard to photograph bc of the way it wraps but my favourite line from final form (i stole the idea from someone in atb but it's one of my favourite sentiments, as in, this is my first body so i will make mistakes, and it is my last body so i will look after it). i broke one of my only tattoo rules for this too, which was No Words. i doubt i'll get any more words after this bc i don't think they'd really fit very well w the rest of mine, but i thought this was a really nice way to cuff my patchwork arm.

it's about 6 months healed in this video (from today). pain was probably another 8/10, wrist is a very spicy placement but not the worst one by any stretch. the outside (first body) was easier than the inside (last body) and it was definitely tolerable, tbh it was almost more annoying to heal than it was to get

i do have plans for more ee related tattoos (i want to get one from each album, so i have arc and rdf left to conquer) but atm i can't get anything because i have serious trust issies w new tattooists (and i love my artists who i know already) and my shop is currently 200 miles away. i'll probably get one in summertime if i have the money. i really like that for the most part they're not super obvious what they are, even the hand isn't bam in your face this is album artwork unless you're in the know. no hate to those kind of tattoos (ive seen some sick tattoos of the whole gth cover or at least the entire guy) it's just not my kind of thing, i like to be mysterious.

sorry for talking so much, but getting tattoos is my only personality trait. i could and would literally speak about it all day. consider this your formal piece of danny's tattoo advice. none of these are my most painful placements and none were my most painful tattoos, but everybody is different so if you genuinely do want this advice, take it with a grain of salt. and if anyone wants more of my advice/further tattoo tours, feel free to ask (idk why you'd want advice from me but i have probably about 40 tattoos at this point and i want to talk about it. because i'm boring and inufferable. i'm A Tattoo Person. this is my coming out </3)
