John Doe
Most of John's character arc revolves around discovering his humanity, developing his emotional intelligence and practicing empathy. Without spoiling too much of the story, John goes on a journey of breaking away from his past and choosing who he wants to be. For most of the show, John only sees himself and his equal partner as important. He is desperate for his approval and companionship. He is highly defensive and lashes out physically and verbally at most any provocation. He has no problem manipulating anyone and everyone to get what he wants. In short, John is emotionally volatile, has low empathy, manipulative tendencies, and will do anything to secure his own needs. He is so NPD coded and means the whole entire world to me <3
---
Phil Connors
phil is introduced as a total asshole who doesnt give a shit about anyone thats not himself. he actively views those around him as lesser than and mindless and not worthwhile and all he wants to do is wrap up his job for an event he deems pointless and get the hell out. but hes PUNISHED hes forced into NARCISSIST HELL DIMENSION TIME LOOP where he has to CHANGE AND GROW AS A PERSON. and when he does change its not like he completely fundamentally changes as a person and his disordered thinking completely goes away, you can tell he still acts out of self interest, but the difference is hes recognized that helping others doesnt inherently detract from that. groundhog day is essentially the best case example movie for having npd and low empathy and choosing to be a good person anyways, simply because its the right thing to do. and its not easy and you want to kill yourself a lot in the process but its possible. to me phil connors is to npd what abed nadir is to autism. and also the summary of the movie calls him a narcissistic weatherman so #canon?

I've been thinking of a theory which the more I think about it seems extremely plausible. What if the reason qTubbo is behaving like this is cause it's not him - what if the data we found was technically not qTubbo's but instead Creation's.
What if Creation was created by Tubbo to protect eggs but then was manipulated by the Feds for their own doings. So eventually Tubbo hid the data containing majority of Creation's programming away and that was the reason he got Iced and memory reset until Feds could figure out how to make Tubbo do their bidding again.
So this data is not actually Tubbo's but instead OG Creation's and now the Creation Fed wanted is back and alive just in Tubbo's body where Creation's data has been mixed with Tubbo's memories. That's why the first time they sent creation when Tubbo was supposed to be away on a date with Fred.
Further hints, QTubbo felt like he was trying out loud how to say Phil's name for the first time (maybe cause Creation is used to saying Guardian), forgetting little things like waypoints/having a backpack, calling Chayanne the GOAT but then said second goat you know like Rank 2, staring at birds much like Creation did. His purpose is still the eggs and that's why he asked the "rankings" of the parents. Saying how he feels he feels like hasn't "done anything for decades"
The statement "I thought before I was on autopilot but now I'm the computer controlling the autopilot" which would actually fit how Creation was a robot being controlled by his engineering and programming but now he actually has free will. His comment about "newfound morality" would explain why his emotions are so volatile because he isn't used to having them.
And lastly it would make sense for why the stream was called transfer complete :D
#Anyways yeah tinfoil hat on and all that#But it'd be really interesting if that were the case#qsmp#tubbo#Theory#Creation#Q#Mika mumbles

Phil and bagi hcs?
YOU HAVE JUST ENABLED A MONSTER.
I AM SO ABNORMAL ABOUT THESE TWO.
Also these will apply to AMFMN!! Because SURPRISE, if no one has checked the fic tags, her name is listed as a main character. ;) She'll be arriving in Chapter 6!! :D
I cannot fucking WAIT to expand upon their dynamic, which is funny because by the time Bagi shows up, Phil is possessed so it won't be exploration through direct interactions until the recovery period waaay later in the fic. Nonetheless it'll be hype! :D
qPhil headcanons masterlist
Phil is a member of the "Bagi can do whatever she wants forever" club. He supports her rights and wrongs and fully believes she could kick his ass no matter how unbalanced of a fight it'd be in his favor (disclaimer I don't actually know Bagi's exact pvp skill level 🤔)
Bagi is a member of the "God I want Phil to take me on a flight some day, I am so sad his wings are fucked up" club. (She would probably be terrified /pos)
I don't know what it is about their friendship but I feel like Bagi is so much more attuned to the way Phil thinks than the average islander. I guess I'd say it's because of how perceptive she is in general, especially with how she's a detective? Whatever it is, Bagi just has this talent for reading Phil like a damn book. And she won't hesitate to call him on his bullshit either. She's much like Fit in that regard. Crow man can't hide SHIT
Like fr if Phil ever gave Bagi reason to be concerned the first thing she'd do is start cornering those closest to him and either ask what's up or be like "hey Phil's on some shit rn, we gotta go force him to confess whatever stupid shit he's shouldering on his own and bottling up"
Phil has definitely been whacked with the frying pan for not venting and acting like he has to brave the horrors alone btw. Bagi's the type of friend that'll kick your fucking ass if you're not self-caring or being mean to yourself. (I am projecting LMAO)
Bagi isn't as Holy Shit We Could Die Any Second about things as Phil, but they're both very protective people, which can manifest in very volatile ways when they're hurt or angered by something (ie: Feds). I would not want to experience their individual wraths simultaneously.
Bagi is one of the top people Phil shows his gift giving love language to. Be it resources she needs, pictures he's taken of her/Em/Tina or of weird island shit, the means to complete cookie tasks, etc. She's one of the first in mind.
GOD Phil wants her to teach him how to wield a frying pan so badly. He's an excellent swordsman and bowman, but PAN?? The enjoyment he'd get out of it would be infinite, he'd love to be kicking ass while getting a laugh out of it bc pan go BONG when it hits a motherfucker.
If one needs something the other says yes no hesitation. They might ask each other a couple questions, but as soon as they have 100% clarity, they trust each other with the rest and know that if something goes wrong, whoever is present at the time will unleash hell on the person or monster that caused it.
I've somewhat already hinted at it but GOD the mutual admiration they have for each other!! Their wits and way with words, their natural sense of leadership, their determination to defend what they believe in, what they think is right, and the people they love, their specific expertise, the list goes on. They just think the other is so fucking cool and brilliant.
Tbh I think in the right circumstances they'd teach each other some lowkey fucked up tricks they have up their sleeves. Like Bagi giving Phil insight on manipulating people into giving the answers you're looking for by asking the right carefully worded questions, or Phil teaching Bagi the best spots to hit/hurt a person/mob to really do some damage just purely as a "hey if you ever find yourself in a Situation, here's a tip" thing
I don't know how better to show this without explicitly saying it: These two are not the other's fucking caretaker. Phil is not Bagi's father figure and Bagi is not Phil's mother figure. Yes, they can scold each other when the other is doing something dumb (cough, 7 hcs ago, cough). Friends do that. They support each other and call each other on their bs. That is not parenting, that's being a good friend. And they are to each other.
On that note, it hasn't come up too much yet but when shit sucks (like when the eggs were lost or lost lives), they're good at distracting each other. But like without halting the process of dealing with their emotions. If they're sad, they'll be sad together, but they're good at picking the right conversation topics to lighten the mood. If they're mad, they'll be mad together, and they'll plan what to do about it with each other.
I think I've sorta demonstrated it well enough in a couple of these hcs already but AUGH, they're just. So on the same page with each other almost all the time. And when they aren't, they're so good at giving each other perspectives they didn't think of before. Which, I don't mean to compare Bagi to her brother here, but is also how Phil and Cellbit can be with each other too; though they've somewhat fallen out of that sync post-Purgatory. The way the Mystery Siblings are so on the same wavelength as Phil makes me so *slams fist on desk*
Phil is normally a very Just Vibin' kinda guy but Bagi can get him into some really deep intellectual conversations sometimes and it's so 🍿🍿🍿 to watch

What’s the twins techbur alicorn Au?
Boi o boi! The au consists of a few more pictures, I'll drop them chronogically and then the explanation :3

Techno and Wil are twin ponies. As little colts they were playing together and Wilbur accidently forced Tech into situation where the red pony broke his horn. Unicorns can't do magic with broken horns, as it is highly dangerous for everyone around and themselves.
Techno ran away from home and Wil spent a long time searching for him/trying to find a way to recover Techno's horn. Before he succeded, Techno came back, backed by a power like no other.
Phil, the King of Changelings promised to recover Techno's magic if the pony helped him take over the Kingdom for his hive. Techno is a terrifying warrior even without magic, so he did most of the war on ease.
Phil said that having Wilbur is crucial in order to fix Techno's horn and Techno captured his twin, threatened him and delivered him to Phil.
Phil, who knew that Wil still loved Techno and would do anything for him, even if he was terrified. Phil, who knew that Wilbur's magic and charisma could help fell the Kingdom even faster and make it perfect feeding grounds for his Hive.
His plan was to mainly force/guilt Wilbur into working for him by assuming Techno's form, sometimes with a fixed horn, sometimes with broken, just to perpetuate that feeling of love and doom
Mind you, Wilbur was working on a way to recover Technos horn his whole life at this point. He was terrifies of what would happen to the pony kingdom and knew he can't risk accidentally falling for Philza’s plot.
Wilbur had a solution. He created a highly volatile spell. The spell was meant to take a pony and take away their core element- pegasus wings, earth pony strength or unicorns horn- and then remodel them into something else. Wilbur planned to first make Techno into a pegasus and then remodel him *again*.
The problem of that magic, was it required HUGE mastery of the spell and the cost was deemed too high. Wilbur would die if he did the spell more than once that is
But he wanted to save Techno :3
You can see in the casting spell art, the colored paned glass window actually foreshadows what actually happens
Techno's transformation got messed by Wilburs dying moment and he was between a recovered unicorn and pegasus- and bc he still loved his brother, he tried to save him from his own idiocy. And fed his magic into the spell, accidentally finishing and defining it.
The spell was so innovative and so fate changing and defining that it actually granted the innovators of the spell alicorn status! Something similar to what happened to Twilight Sparkle in mlp :3
As to what happened with Tommy and Philza... well~ that's still up to decide >:3c

Hi! I’m Rebecca (or just Becca) I haven’t been online in a while so it’s really cool to be back. Let me fill you in on my boy!
He’s based on Carmy from The Bear but he’s also mixed with Jamie Tartt from Ted Lasso (it’s impossible to use this face without being compelled to give him Jamie-isms)
Background:
Charlie was born and raised in Manchester, UK. His dad wasn’t around for most of his life, and his mom is genuinely his best friend in the world. As he grew up, he wanted to become a professional football (soccer) player, which actually brought his dad back into his life, but just as he was being signed to a professional team, he’d faced a career ending injury. This caused his dad to get extremely volatile, more-so than after a simple lost game, causing Charlie’s shell to come up. His mom reminded him that there was more to life, and re-ignited his passion for food. His fondest memories were in the kitchen cooking with his mom as a kid.
So Charlie decided to set off, and get as far away from his father as possible, and head to culinary school. He started in France, but this only lit a flame under Charlie to continue traveling and tasting cuisine around the world. After three years of travel, Charlie landed back home with his mom where he’d picked up a job as a cook in a restaurant nearby. A year later and he’d started to get an itch to travel, struggling with staying in one place for too long.
While traveling initially, Charlie had met so many people he’d made connections with around the world. He’d had quite a few one night stands and made even more friends along the way. One person in particular stuck out to Charlie the most, leading him to reach out and ultimately bringing him to Palmview Grove. Due his extensive resume, Charlie was able to land a job quite easily.
Personality:
He’s honestly a heart-throb and a half but I’m insanely biased here.
Charlie can get ridiculously egotistical and self-centered. This is more-so when he’s playing sports, or video games, or it could literally be a board game and he has to be the best. This is obviously rooted in insecurity, but he would never admit that and if you face him with his actual emotions, chances are he’ll double down on being an ass.
But when you know the real him, or he lets you see glimpses of his true self, he’s actually the sweetest. He brings any leftover food he makes to his neighbors, he’s constantly giving soccer tips to the kids on the beach, and if you catch him two beers in the way his eyes light up hearing anyone speak could make you melt.
Can be super high strung, especially when it comes to his job (very much like Carmy at work)
His shell is strong and difficult to break, if he shuts you out it’s very hard to get back in.
He is pan-sexual, literally falls in love with just about everyone he meets.
He’s for sure got some stray animal that he’s constantly feeding.
Wanted Connections:
Friends - Group that he watches games with or goes out with, just some mates
Past hookup - could’ve ended messy or could’ve been a mutual friends with benefits thing
Neighbors - He lives in Coral Cove 5B, so if you’re anywhere near him I promise he’d invite you for dinner to test recipes.
Taken Connections:
Ex - Gianna
Ex on good terms - Hadley
Reunited in Palmview - Tommy
The person that brought him here - Clark
Shopping buddy - Celeste

the thing about qslime is like. he’s BEEN in denial about flippa’s death ever since it happened. when the eggs were taken away when the brazilians first arrived he was fully expecting flippa to show back up with them, he actively went looking for her. this thing with codeflippa isn’t like… new. at all
also, tangentially related, i honestly feel like etoiles reassuring him that tilín’s death wasn’t his fault may have had a negative effect? at least in regards to how much guilt he feels. because his emotions are all in extremes — he either loves mariana or hates her guts. he either feels so guilty that he runs off thousands of blocks away and tries to summon an angel to bring tilín back or he doesn’t care anymore because it was “just an accident” (a sentiment which doesn’t extend beyond himself because he is, ultimately, as self-centred as he is self-unaware). charlie said it himself when going through the element rooms in cellbits castle — his character is entirely driven by emotion, and he’s an absolute wreck about it. that’s why his character would be blood (even if charlie himself chose energy/chaos)
the other islanders are very much used to how.. volatile he is. so they just kinda let it go (at least on the outside) as seen with cellbit, roier, phil, etc. hanging out with him and codeflippa and helping them do her “tasks” which obviously probably isn’t the best approach (except on an information gathering front, but i mean for slime specifically here) but like… how do you even help someone like that? someone so deep in that they can’t even see that they’re losing themself to something that isn’t even real. he’d have to get to a point where he actually lets himself realise that something is wrong but he just. can’t
#.txt#qsmp#slimecicle#sorryyyy this is a little all over the place. adhd. you get it#like i want him to be happy i want him to get help but it’s just. not gonna happen any time soon#unless something BIG happens to shift his worldview#there’s also things i could touch on about how rough qslimes childhood was and how that has repercussions on who he is now#like. denial denial denial he had to kill (or watch his dad kill?) all his siblings#but that’s fine that’s normal (to him)#which could be another reason child death is such a weird like. inconsistent subject for him#if that makes sense#idk man idk#lots of thoughts not good with words aaaa

Phil Hargreeves Headcanons;

He's the tallest member of the Phoenix Academy and the first to go through puberty.
He's a pyromaniac but no one can prove it.
Phil argues with Reginald about shaving his beard daily because he refuses to shave it and Reginald demands he does so.
Isn't a people person but is good at reading them.
Is very much a 'Fight (or intimidate) first, ask questions later' type of guy.
Phil can't handle spicy food at all but absolutely loves sour foods and snacks.
Hates the color yellow.
Gets along best with Luther and Fei abd does not take any criticism toward the two of them lightly.
Phil is exasperated (though amused) by Klaus, and is very protective of him because he knows what it's like to be afraid of his own powers.
He also butts heads with Diego a lot because of Diego's volatile relationship with Luther.
He also butts heads with Alphonso but for different reasons. Though he loves all of his siblings.
Assuming Carla from the comics is the seventh member of this academy, he gets along with her as well. Though he'd likely get along with any of the other possible candidates for the seventh member as well (more or less).
He has pyrokinesis.
Phil is number three in this timeline.
Phil leaves the academy when Luther does because he's loyal to a fault (which while later than the other siblings in every universe, is relatively early in this one).
Phil's a cat person and was Luther's best friend growing up.
He and Luther both share the dream of going to space.
Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on who you ask) neither of them go to space here and Phil goes on to become a fire fighter (ironically).
Phil Hargreeves is a sleepwalker and has almost burnt the house down while doing so on more than one occasion.
He also had an emp phase.
Has a stash of 'contraband' (aka kid stuff and a phone) hidden under his bed so that Reginald can't take them away.
Phil Hargreeves is very good at using chopsticks.
He's dyslexic.
Once nearly choked to death on marshmallows doing the chubby bunny challenge because Diego challenged him (Diego also nearly choked to death).
When he and the siblings were thirteen they started sneaking out to the movies (because Klaus really wanted to see Treasure Planet and several other movies). Now Phil loves Disney movies (even if he refuses to admit it sometimes lol).
Scared the crap out of his driving instructor because he didn't study for how to drive stick.
Didn't really like Reginald but put up with him mainly for Luther.
Gets along with Diego the best when they have to get Klaus out of trouble.
Has ended up on the wrong side of Diego and Alphonso's powers more than once (and occasionally on the wrong side of Luther's powers since he spends the most time with him).
Is Luther's wing man (they are both terrible at flirting and it is by pure miracle they meet someone who thinks Luther's horrible flirting is cute. Aka this world's version of Sloane).
He also likes horror movies but never watches them with Klaus because he knows Klaus doesn't like them (usually because they're inaccurate but also because they scare him sometimes).
Phil likes a wide variety of music.
Got arrested once because he burned a guy who kicked a dog but got left off because there was no proof.

Mind Dump 5 years on...
This is the first time I've logged into this account since 2019(ish) so I'm pretty sure there's going to be no one left here but if you are, Hi! I'm just going to dump this post here because I am a tumblr girl at heart and laying my most deepest thoughts to strangers on the internet is all I've ever known...
After the recent news of the death of Liam Payne 2 days ago I've been thinking about this website non-stop. Like many people, this news hit me so unexpectedly emotionally. Grieving someone I never knew, but also grieving a time in my life I can never ever experience again.
My life has changed so much since I last logged into this account, and yet so little at the same time. I started this account in early 2017 after I got into SKAM back in 2016, abandoning a previous Dan and Phil centred account I had from 2014. I was still in school, the last season of SKAM lining up with my own life of leaving school and starting university. I remember thinking that was so cool, watching these characters I grew to adore also experiencing their last year alongside me. I started university in late 2018, studying to become a nurse but yet never got over SKAM. Instead, I became obsessed DRUCK and connected to Matteo in a way I haven't ever experienced with another fictional character since (the only close match being Connell from Normal People in that one uni scene iykyk). However, I ultimately ended up abandoning this account in 2019.
I don't actually know why I stopped coming on this website. Because since I was 14 this website was all I could ever think about. Me and best friend in 2014 were absolutely obsessed with tubmlr. We would literally spend hours on this website reblogging the most random things, and things that at that point in our lives meant so much to us. And with this recent news, I've felt this strong tsunami of nostalgia for that period of my life.
I was never a 1D blog, but I loved 1D. Not very openly as I had older sisters who made fun of me for it. I squashed any outwardly expression of my love for them to avoid this at all costs. A major cost being turning down to go and see them in concert in 2014/2015 when my friend (mentioned above) had an extra ticket. I think about that often and regret it every time. When covid came around and we were in lockdown I was in the mid/end of my 2nd year of uni, 20 years of age. I know a lot of people talk of how they regressed back to their younger passions, and so did I. I had the full 1D experience I never let myself have, not caring about others' opinions on it (mainly my older sister). I listened to their music nonstop every single day, watching so many edits and even reading fan fics. I truly felt like I was 14 again. But there was always that voice in the back of my head saying, "you're too late, it's not the same, you've missed out on it all." I yearned with everything in me to be that teenage girl again. It was during this period in 2020 that my family relationships also became very volatile and dysfunctional, meaning 1D became an even bigger safe space for me.
I've always been a nostalgic person in the worst way possible. I can't help but let the regrets of things I never did consume me. The thoughts of how different my life could be, how different I could be, it always plagues me. I know this sounds dramatic because I'm talking about a 2010s boyband, believe me I know it does.
But I was 14 when my life started to go to shit, when my mental health first started to decline and truthfully it has never recovered. Maybe because in the back of my mind, I always felt like that 14 year old girl, scared and alone and hurting so bad with no one to help her. And the unbelievable shocking news of Liam Payne dying, it's just transporting me back to that period of my life. Even more so as I lost my dad very unexpectedly and traumaticly in March this year.
I just feel so full of grief for so many things all at once, all separate yet all so intertwined. I would truly give anything and everything I have to just relive being that teenage girl, even the unspeakable bad parts. And it makes me so angry to know I can't. And of course, I can't, because that's not how time works! Yet it feels like I can't breathe when I come to that realisation. In all its dramatic flare, it genuinely feels like it's killing me that I can't ever experience that life again.
All in all, I'll never truly forget this website. Especially not this account, I loved this account! Maybe this is just the part of growing up I'm currently struggling with. I'm 24 now, which in itself is scary because no matter what I am and always will be that 14 year old girl.
Girlhood is forever and always xx
#this quite possibly is the biggest sign I need therapy lol#Sorry this is so deep and long I just needed to get this out of my head#Everyone i interacted with on here have probably all left too so ill just leave this here in the void

Making a colorza Fic that will probably be posted here and on Quotev. I’m thinking about the different colors and how they affect Phil’s personality
----
Redza: volatile and firery. Whatever emotion he feels, he expresses it tenfold.
Orange: I often see Orangeza depicted as a steampunk engineer. That seems to fit him well, using the urge to create that every Phil has. However, he can act just as volatile as Red, which ends up with him getting into trouble.
Yellow: Yellowza is portrayed as kind and helping by everyone who knows him. However, he does also have a dark side he tells no one about.
Green: this is the first color to interact with characters from SMP cc!Phil has been on (aside from Technoblade, who interacts with every colorza with the exception of one), as Greenza is basically DSMP Phil combined with 5 yr hardcore world Phil. He is a healer mentally, physically, and spiritually. He also would be considered neutral good. He fights for things he believes is best for everybody, even if getting there means it causes (a little) harm to others.
Blue: like Green, Blueza is also related to an SMP, earth smp to be precise. He is the cold hearted ruler of the Antarctic empire, but is secretly very sad and depressed due to things I will not spoil yet
Purple: the definition of a corrupt and manipulative politician. He seems friendly and calm, but is actually a psychopath. He is the breaking point of the entire series
Pink: a child at heart, Pink is the blissful void after Purple’s insanity. He is kind and gentle to all no matter what. This unfortunately makes him easy to manipulate. He is also the only colorza to have no interaction with Technoblade.
Black: every single bad trait of all the other colors combined. He is a killing Machine that cannot be stopped, not even by those who love him most.
White: the opposite of black and the combination of every hood trait the colors have. Nicknamed cumza buy Wilbur

I think it would be kinda funny if on Phil's bad days he is especially volatile and dangerous around people he doesn't trust, not because the obvious he's scared because he doesn't remember anything
no because on his bad days he completely forgets his human morals and WILL go for the kill if he needs too
-🪶
reasons #1000 why forever keeps phil fairly close on those days either in their home underwater or just with the family above water

Insights for Fantasy Sports & Haanaa Traders
Last Updated : 21 April 5:30 PM
As the IPL 2025 season hits its halfway mark, the real winners aren’t just the teams on the field — it’s the fans who’ve been playing fantasy sports and trading opinions smartly on platforms like Haanaa. With the leaderboard heating up, smart calls and bold predictions can help you win big in the second half.
Here’s our fantasy-focused breakdown of how each team has fared so far — including who to trust, who to fade, and where your next trade or pick might just make you a winner.
✅ 1. Gujarat Titans (GT)
Record: 5W – 2L | Points: 10 | NRR: +0.984 Haanaa Angle: Buy Bullish
GT is one of the most consistent teams this season. If you’ve been backing Shubman Gill or investing in their bowling unit (hello, Rashid & Mohit Sharma), you’ve likely seen solid returns. 🧠 Fantasy Tip: GT’s next 3 games are against strong teams, so rotating bowlers based on venue is key. 📈 Haanaa Play: Trade “GT to finish in Top 2” — still undervalued!
✅ 2. Delhi Capitals (DC)
Record: 5W – 2L | NRR: +0.589 Haanaa Angle: Momentum Builder
DC is trending upwards. If you’re on Haanaa, their form makes them a great pick for “Most Improved Team” or “Surprise Finalist”. Pant’s return has added serious fantasy value, and Jake Fraser-McGurk is a fantasy sleeper hit. 🧠 Fantasy Tip: Fraser-McGurk is a must-have differential. 📈 Haanaa Play: Trade “Pant to finish as top-scoring Indian keeper”
✅ 3. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)
Record: 5W – 3L | NRR: +0.472 Haanaa Angle: Buy Selectively
RCB is unpredictable, but if you’ve had Kohli in your squad or traded bullish on him in Haanaa early, you're smiling. They're still shaky, so avoid stacking your fantasy team with too many RCB players. 🧠 Fantasy Tip: Rotate Siraj or Dayal based on pitch. 📈 Haanaa Play: “Kohli to win Orange Cap” – still decent odds.
✅ 4. Punjab Kings (PBKS)
Record: 5W – 3L | NRR: +0.177 Haanaa Angle: High-Risk, High-Reward
PBKS have overperformed, making them perfect for fantasy underdog points. If you called their wins early on Haanaa — good on you. But they still feel volatile. 🧠 Fantasy Tip: Liam Livingstone = potential late-season differential. 📈 Haanaa Play: Trade on “PBKS to make playoffs” — odds may still be juicy.
✅ 5. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)
Record: 5W – 3L | NRR: +0.088 Haanaa Angle: Steady Climbers
KL Rahul is delivering, and Pooran is fantasy gold. If you backed LSG early on Haanaa, there’s room for profit still. 🧠 Fantasy Tip: Keep Pooran locked in. Rotate pacers based on opposition. 📈 Haanaa Play: “Pooran to be best overseas finisher” or “LSG Top 4 finish”
⚖️ 6. Mumbai Indians (MI)
Record: 4W – 4L | NRR: +0.483 Haanaa Angle: Strong Second-Half Candidates
If you bought low on MI after their poor start, you’re likely sitting on gold. Bumrah has been fantasy elite, and Tilak Varma is heating up. 🧠 Fantasy Tip: Bumrah is non-negotiable — anchor him. 📈 Haanaa Play: Trade on “MI to win next 3” — value is strong.
❓ 7. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)
Record: 3W – 4L | NRR: +0.547 Haanaa Angle: Inconsistent, but Profitable
When they win, they dominate. When they lose, it’s ugly. If you’ve timed trades right, KKR’s been profitable. Narine’s batting role makes him dual fantasy value. 🧠 Fantasy Tip: Sunil Narine = power pick; Phil Salt = strong on flat tracks. 📈 Haanaa Play: Buy low on “KKR to win 2 of next 3”
🆘 8. Rajasthan Royals (RR)
Record: 2W – 6L | NRR: -0.633 Haanaa Angle: Fade Zone
They’re in a rut, and while Yashasvi and Samson still have fantasy value, RR as a team might not bounce back soon. 🧠 Fantasy Tip: Yashasvi as a differential only on batting-friendly pitches. 📉 Haanaa Avoid: Don’t fall into “RR comeback” trades unless value is extreme.
❌ 9. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)
Record: 2W – 5L | NRR: -1.217 Haanaa Angle: Boom or Bust
Fantasy fans love them for the big scores (Abhishek, Klaasen, Head), but on Haanaa, SRH’s defensive bets have burned many. 🧠 Fantasy Tip: Stack SRH batters only vs weaker bowling units. 📉 Haanaa Avoid: “SRH to win next match” unless against CSK or RR.
🔻 10. Chennai Super Kings (CSK)
Record: 2W – 6L | NRR: -1.392 Haanaa Angle: Nostalgia Doesn’t Win Trades
CSK is struggling, and even Dhoni magic hasn’t worked. They’re no longer safe fantasy territory. 🧠 Fantasy Tip: Avoid stacking CSK unless it’s a home game. Jadeja is still viable. 📉 Haanaa Avoid: “CSK to make playoffs” is a trap trade now.
📈 Final Haanaa Strategy for the Second Half:
Invest in form, not fame. Back consistent performers, not just big names.
Use momentum to your advantage. Teams like MI, LSG, and DC are climbing — good time to get in.
Diversify your fantasy team. Don't stack from one franchise — matchups matter!
Watch the toss and pitch reports. In Haanaa, live info = smarter trades.

Listed: Mt Fog

Photo: Rachel Bennett
Mt Fog began as a solo project for classically trained Carolyn B. but has lately expanded to include drummer Andy Sells (Afrocop, Select Level, FCS North) and bassist Casey Rosebridge (Swanderer, Crazy Eyes). Jennifer Kelly found the expanded palette a revelation on Mt Fog’s second album, Ultraviolet Heart Machine writing, “There is something magic about the way her volatile, fluttering vocal phrasings interact with the thump of bass, here played by Casey Rosebridge, or how the organic twining of her melodies sound braced by the thud of real, organic drums.” Here are some of the albums on heavy play during the recording process.
Japan — Gentlemen Take Polaroids
youtube
I love the soundscapes and the fretless bass squiggles, and how they create this moody, mossy universe for David Sylvian’s voice. Favorite track: “My New Career”
Satisfact — The Third Meeting at the Third Counter
High energy, melodic at times and perfectly noisy, fueling me as I ride public transit in Seattle.
FCS North — Vocabulary
Incredible atmospheres, feels like the water of the Puget Sound washing over you. Andy Sells (drummer of Mt Fog) is a member of FCS North, active from 1998-2008 and very influential.
Talking Heads — More Songs about Buildings and Food
youtube
I saw David Byrne once at a Balkan music festival in Brooklyn, years and years ago; my friends were freaking out, and that’s how I learned about the Talking Heads. I absolutely love how David Byrne uses his voice and the particular dance-ability of this album.
Lizzy Mercier Descloux — Press Color
youtube
I discovered Lizzy Mercier Descloux this past year. What a band! And a voice with such cool attitude.
Sadhappy — Depth Charge
Seattle-area saxophonist Skerik was in this trio in the 1990s, and it’s just so funky and ridiculous at times.
Benjamin Britten — A Midsummer Night’s Dream (London Symphony 1960 recording)
youtube
My family listened to this all the time when I was a kid, as my sisters were in a production in the late 1980s. This recording is the original and so so good. I love Puck’s talk-singing. The orchestra breathes and sighs. A composition that is so synergistic between the sound and the forest setting.
Sugarcubes — Stick Around for Joy
I didn’t get into Bjork’s earlier project until about a year ago and this CD was my most listened to CD since I got it last summer. This is a band of elves, and they sound like they’re playing at the most fun festival.
The Sea and Cake — The Fawn
A reminder that simple and chill can also be emotional and powerful in its understated-ness.
Gateway — Gateway 2
vimeo
When I listen to this, I am reminded that music is pure magic, that musicians cast spells with the sounds we create. SO SPECIAL. You must listen to the whole thing but if not start with the beginning, “opening.”

Walt Disco Interview: The Truest Picture
BY JORDAN MAINZER
They're growing as a band--sure--but they're also simply able to reveal more of themselves. Glasgow post-punk quintet Walt Disco broke out in 2022 with their debut album Unlearning, a stellar, concise collection of indie rock songs that was stitched together over the Internet during pandemic-era lockdowns. Listening to sophomore album The Warping, out Friday via Lucky Number, at first, you wonder what Unlearning might have sounded like had the band members been able to collaborate in the same room. Then again, Walt Disco has proved to impress due to their clear ability to create something big with constraints, and now, deliver something cohesive with a plethora of options at their fingertips. For The Warping, the band had pre-album recording sessions with Lucas Polo (at the studio of none other than Phil Manzanera of Roxy Music), co-produced the album with Chris McCrory, got Vale Studio's Chris D'Adda to engineer, and collaborated with string and horn players to flesh out already existing arrangements. The result is, well, whatever the opposite of a sophomore slump is, a hard-to-avoid pitfall when your debut already a clear artistic voice. Instead, Walt Disco have provided the glam rock record of the year.
Of course, Walt Disco didn't choose such an aesthetic just because it sounded cool: They needed something to match the grandiosity and gamut of emotions The Warping's songs exude. Lead vocalist Jocelyn Si sings about getting older and gaining self-confidence, often in the context of gender dysphoria they've felt throughout their life. Fittingly, the title track represents the greatest encapsulation of the album's themes and aesthetic, Si delivering bits of stark truth atop high-pitched synth whirrs, textured piano and acoustic guitar, cinematic strings, and staccato percussion reminiscent of Roxy Music and The Psychedelic Furs. Namesake single "Jocelyn" imagines a conversation between singer and mother, a gently galloping song with electric picking, thudding drums, fluttering woodwinds, and slide guitar, Si looking at themselves from what feels like an outside perspective on lines like, "Her name was Jocelyn / She had a worried grin / A mole upon her chin," but ultimately inhabiting their true self. Their ruminations on identity carve other paths, too. Nursery rhyme-inspired "Black Chocolate" tackles the warm parts of family, connecting over food, simplicity that nonetheless wields seemingly infinite emotional power, represented by the song's fast strings, atonal horns, electric synth lines, and huge programmed drum beat.
Much of The Warping is about change, both tangible and in the past, and inevitable and in the future, and not just from Si's perspective. "Weeping Willow" was inspired by the amicable departure of a founding member of the band; its swayed acoustic guitar strum and synth melody answers the question, "If a weeping willow made music, what would it sound like?" "I Will Travel" is a tearjerker for anybody that's lost a pet when Si sings about their family dog, "I will be there at the end of your days and remind you that our deaths are the same." Closer "Before The Walls" is a spiritual sibling to "Jocelyn", Si detailing the imagined last shared words between themselves and their parents. Their vocal vibrato is like its own instrument, chopped and shaky alongside flutes, thumping and thwacking echoed percussion, and woozy strings, the volatility of time incarnate. And "Pearl", penned by drummer Jack Martin and released first as a standalone single before The Warping was even announced, is perhaps most effective in context of the record. Here, Martin imagines himself living alone in Glasgow, "holding onto no one for the long rides," an old-school song rife with lush strings and pop chops, Lewis Carmichael's unexpected slide guitar adding a feeling of seriously expansive solitude. Whether or not these moments of loss have happened or will happen doesn't matter so much as Walt Disco's confronting of all possibilities head-on, again able to survive and thrive amidst the curtailments of life.
The band answered some questions over email about The Warping, including how some of the songs started, the cover art, and playing them live, as well as about their general influences and what art they've been digging lately. Read their responses below, edited for length and clarity.

SILY: Your debut album was put together electronically out of necessity due to being recorded over lockdowns. In contrast, The Warping has all analog instrumentation and features a wide array of live orchestration. Do you think The Warping is a more exemplary presentation of Walt Disco as a band?
Walt Disco: The Warping feels like more of a summation of everyone in the band. We couldn't all be together for most of the making of Unlearning, but here, everyone got to dig their hooks in and throw in a good piece of themselves. It feels like the truest picture of Walt Disco that's come out yet. All of us individually have a varied music taste, loads of different things make us all tick, and this album is a real coming together of all of our tastes and habits.
SILY: Did the lyrics or the music come first on this album?
WD: On a song to song basis, it varies, but mostly it feels as though we were starting from a musical jumping off point and creating the narrative from there. "Pearl" came from its piano part, "The Captain" came from the guitar riff, "Jocelyn" from the bass part. We even had the vocal melody for "Gnomes" figured out before the lyrics were put together. Songs come around in a multitude of different ways. Lyrics are very important to us, and these songs cover a range of subjects we wanted very much to address. We feel the music and lyrics go hand in hand quite deeply on this album.
SILY: Did you collaborate with the players themselves in coming up with the string and horn instrumentation?
WD: We had many of the orchestral elements arranged from the demoing phase. The rest were put together in collaboration with Krayg Miqman, who added arrangements, wrote out the scores, and primarily instructed the players while we were in the studio. The players were given freedom in the studio to interpret a lot of parts for themselves and try things out. They all did a magnificent job and added a lot to these songs with their performances.
SILY: Was there something about the singles released so far that you think made them representative of the album as a whole?
WD: With these singles, we wanted to achieve the same thing we want the album as a whole to achieve, and that's to slightly alter people's perception of the band. We'd never released a song that was anything like "Pearl" before, or "Jocelyn". We weren't exactly known for these kinds of meditative and patient arrangements. Yet, this is something we love in a lot of music, and [we] wanted to present it as something that we're capable of in addition to being maximalist. That's the spirit of the sound of this album, showing people more of what we're capable of.

The Warping album art by Lulu Lin
SILY: What's the story behind the album's cover art?
WD: We discovered the artwork of Lulu Lin while we were in pre-production for recording the album. Our co-producer, Chris McCrory, had one of her pieces saved to his desktop, and it caught our eye. We then looked at the rest of her work online and fell totally in love with her style. The figures she creates seemed to gel perfectly with the narrative and vibe of the album. At that time, she hadn't worked with many bands before, but she took our brief and did something magical. We're very grateful to have come across her.
SILY: Have you performed these songs live? How do you adapt to the live stage an album with such a huge aesthetic and so many players?
WD: With keyboards and synths, there's many ways to recreate organic sounds. We also have a Mel 9 pedal which allows our guitarist to play string and flute samples. There's some backing track to fill in the gaps, but we don't rely on it for most songs. It's always a fun challenge to reinterpret recordings for live shows, it was a lot easier to do with this album than our last.
SILY: Jocelyn, who are some of your favorite vocalists? Are there any that particularly influenced you when developing your singing voice?
JS: Paul Buchanan, Scott Walker, Kate Bush, Linda Ronstadt, and Beverly Glenn-Copeland are vocalists that I love and think are very talented. I think what I'm attracted to most with vocalists is drama, emotion, creativity, and individuality. All my favorite vocalists, those I've named, and others I'm often compared to like Bowie and Billy Mackenzie, all use their voice in a range of ways and use their voices to push the emotion of a song to its furthest point. This is what I try and do, too.
SILY: Jocelyn narrated a short film about queer identity, Christopher at Sea, and the band participated in a Louboutin campaign that challenged the gender binary in clothes. How important is it for the band to explore similar themes to those present in your music, in artistic mediums other than music?
WD: Music has always gone hand in hand with most other forms of media. We see the visuals we make as a way to enhance our world and to create more art in its own right, not just to serve the songs. We want to give that element the care it deserves in the same way we do with our music.
SILY: What are your favorite cities to play in?
WD: London is always a great show. Amsterdam is a favorite, too--lovely people and very polite crowds. We recently had an unreal show in Paris. We've had some great times in Austin, Texas in the past. We're excited to be revisiting all these places on tour this year!
SILY: Is there anything you've been watching, reading, or listening to lately that's caught your attention?
WD: The new Fallout series is incredible. Jocelyn watched Billy Elliott for the first time. It was really good. Jack has been enjoying the drumless edition of Daft Punk's Random Access Memories; the way they build layers of groove even without drums present is unbelievably impressive.
