It is almost the end of summer and the beginning of fall. If you are starting to feel that summertime sadness, you are not alone. Best know that the feeling will pass, and soon, we will be swooning for fall. It is still feeling like summer out there, though. The weather is still warm, and the daylights are still long. So, we might as well enjoy the last couple of weeks of summer, right? As…

hello i’m gna give a little update cuz i haven’t been on tumblr at all in a while, i could also do with some skincare advice plz
so basically i’m in a relationship now. it’s a him and i like him very much
as for the the skincare part, my acne has gone really bad lately is there any products u could suggest as i don’t really know what to do. i think it’s hormonal cuz i’ve just started the pill so idno if it’s gna last but it looks like u could do a dot to dot on my face
anyways thank u 💙
omg yay!
and okay!! so for hormonal acne, consistency is the biggest thing that’s gonna make a big difference. keeping in mind that it has to be done daily if not 2x a day. day and night.
as for products that i recommend!! i love the panoxyl face wash! it helped cleared my face acne and helped with my body acne. it’s 10% benzoyl peroxide so it’s pretty strong so just be careful.
i also really love the peter thomas roth goodbye acne max complexion correction pads. this will be your exfoliate. be very careful with these as well, it’s insanely strong and may burn so only use them on the face one a week. you absolutely have to wear an spf with this bc your skin’s barrier is going to be weaken.
if you are using these products, you need a thicker moisturizer to help protect your skin’s barrier. i like the farmacy honey halo moisturizer.
now i know some of these products are expensive. the face wash isn’t too bad but the pads are so your best bet is going to be la roche posay. i adore this brand and it’s reasonably priced.
let me know if you need me to explain anything else!!!

MARGOT ROBBIE ON BEAUTY, SHOWER BEERS, AND BEST FRIENDS, 2016
We’re guessing this has been said before, but Margot Robbie may just be one of the most down-to-earth actors we’ve had the opportunity to interview. Not to mention that she’s even prettier and nicer IRL than you could possibly expect. We say all this because, as you can imagine, we were kind of nervous when we found ourselves heading uptown to meet with Robbie on the Monday after Thanksgiving, when our turkey brain was still in full effect. But all of that dissipated the moment we arrived to find her lounging barefoot on the couch, recounting the tale of showing up to her friend’s Thanksgiving with Jägerbombs in tow. Yeah, we told you she was chill.
We were there primarily to chat with Robbie about being named the latest face of Calvin Klein’s fragrance, deep euphoria, but couldn’t help but ask her about everything from her in-flight beauty advice and go-to dry shampoo, to ginger shots and shower beers. You could say it was a well-rounded conversation. Fast-forward to later that evening, as we put on our fanciest and headed out to join Robbie and Calvin Klein at a star-studded awards dinner celebrating IFP’s Gotham Awards—basically the Oscars of independent film, which brings light to what are sure to be the best movies of the year. All in all, it was definitely the most glamorous Monday we’ve had in a while. Or ever.
On celebrating American Thanksgiving:
“My friends and I are like orphans in L.A., so we jumped on someone else’s Thanksgiving dinner and it ended up being far more extravagant [than we expected]. We thought it was just going to be the five of us getting drunk, so we brought Jägerbombs, but there were kids at the table! We were like, ‘Okay! We’re gonna hide this bottle of Jäger.’ Because clearly, this is not the kind of Thanksgiving we are at. Of course, the Australians show up at this lovely family affair ready to get drunk, right? It was really, really nice though. We were thinking Jägerbombs to wrap up the evening, kind of counteract the sleepiness of the turkey.”
Why being the face of Calvin Klein’s deep euphoria reminds her of home:
“I’m really stoked to be the face of Calvin Klein deep euphoria. A few other opportunities had come up that I passed on because I didn’t know the brand very well or liked their products—I don’t want to endorse something I don't genuinely like because then I’ll feel like a real idiot. So when this came up it was perfect! I love Calvin Klein and their perfumes, all the women in my family wear Calvin Klein perfumes so it reminds me of home.
“When I first smelled deep euphoria I wasn’t sure I was going to start wearing it, but then I had the bottle and I kept wearing it and getting compliments. I smell a bit of rose, but it also has muskiness to keep it more subtle. It’s not too overbearing and it feels feminine enough without being sweet. I’m not super girly, but I still like having a feminine side. I want my boyfriend to be like, ‘Oh, you smell good.’ It’s also one of those perfumes that both guys and girls like the smell of.”
On confidence boosters (in the form of perfume and bubbles):
“I always feel better and more confident when I’m wearing perfume. To counteract nerves before an event or red carpet, I drink a glass of champagne. I don’t get ready on my own in dead silence because then I’m a basket case of nerves by the time I get there. I always have, like, six of my girlfriends over and they always bring champagne, so we have a glass of bubbles and chat. If I’m getting my makeup done, I can’t really be chatting but just listening to everyone’s stories and focusing on other people’s shit instead of your own helps.”
“I don’t want to be surrounded by people who are like, ‘What are you thinking? What are you feeling? What are you wearing? You, you, you.’ One thing I noticed early on is that some actors get surrounded by people who only focus on them—I’d be much more self-conscious if questions were constantly about what I’m doing. I just enjoy surrounding myself with people who aren’t in the industry. That’s key, and music and champagne, lots of ‘lols.’ I’ll just chill and then it’s fun and doesn’t feel like work, it feels like a pre-game!”
Her favorite makeup look and trick:
“If I have a big night out, I always get sweaty and gross, so less makeup is better—that way I won’t have eyeliner running down my face. If I’m wearing a red lip, I need to be doing nothing that night, just going to a very calm dinner and straight home. Otherwise I will have lipstick everywhere. I keep it pretty simple and natural because when I do more intense makeup it tends to look worse on me.
“When you do photo shoots and they want the look to be beachy, like you are not wearing any makeup—but actually you are wearing a ton of makeup—they draw your freckles on [over foundation]. They just dot on freckles with an eyebrow pencil and it looks like you are not wearing any makeup because your freckles are shining through. It’s my favorite thing they do—you feel younger and like you’ve been out in the sun, it looks amazing.”
What it’s like being on set and traveling non-stop:
“[Free time] is just nonexistent. Honestly, I make work fun because I do genuinely love working and I do it a lot. My best friend is my assistant, so that way, even if we have to do something we don’t want to, at least I’m still there with my best friend and everything becomes an adventure. If she is not there then I’ll bring [my boyfriend] Tom [Ackerley] with me, so if I’m going for work it still feels like a holiday.
“When I travel I catch up with friends because I’ve got groups of friends in New York, London, and L.A., and my family and friends back home [in Australia]. If I’m in a totally random city and haven’t been before, I get the Wallpaper* City Guides and follow the ‘24 hours in this city,’ which maps your day out. Like, 8AM, go to this café and order this, then go to this gallery at 11 AM and walk through this park. I get a nice overview of all the cool things to do and a feel for the city instead of going somewhere touristy.”
On combating jet lag and hands-free traveling:
“I use Aesop Ginger Flight Therapy on my temples and wrists. It’s meant to help with jet lag—I don’t know if it does but I like the smell of it so I do it anyway. In L.A., because you can’t throw a stick without hitting a juice bar, I get immune booster shots with ginger and turmeric, and I do genuinely think they help!
“If I can fit my things in my pockets, I won’t bring a bag with me. But generally you’d find my phone, lip balm, and wallet in there. I have my cards on a money clip so it can fit in my pockets. I like to travel light.”
What she drinks in the morning and right before bed:
“Tea and tea. I drink so much tea. I don’t really like coffee. I drink it if I’m getting a migraine because sometimes a shot of caffeine can help. But I drink a lot of tea. Dilmah black tea is my favorite brand of tea! Like a nerd I carry it around with me everywhere—if you are a tea drinker you always have your specific kind with you. My roommates will only drink PG Tips because they are Londoners and I’ll only drink Dilmah because that is what I had growing up. So we’ll all carry around our box of tea bags—it’s ridiculous.
“I do drink a lot of water, too. Sometimes, after work, I’ll have a beer in the bath—a bath beer! If I don’t think I’m going to fall asleep, I’ll have a really hot bath and a really cold beer and then float off to bed. Oh my god, it’s the nicest thing! Or a beer shower, I’ll do that as well. It’s like a baby’s bottle before bed.”
Her top 5 hero beauty products:
1. Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balms: I’m obsessed with them.
2. Peter Thomas Roth Max Complexion Correction Pads: I always get on a plane with these. As soon as I sit down on a flight I take my makeup off and then I have these little pads and my face is squeaky-clean afterwards.
3. Aesop Immediate Moisture Facial Hydrosol: I always have this in my handbag and spray it on my face throughout the day.
4. Laura Mercier Creme Cheek Color: I put some of this on my eyelids as an eyeshadow and on my cheeks as well. I saw my makeup artist doing it on me and was like ‘Oh, that is really clever!’One less product I have to worry about.
5. Klorane Dry Shampoo: This is the shit. If you’ve got blonde hair it’s the best because it covers your roots and makes it look like you just got them done, when really it’s just a ton of dry shampoo.

Another @peterthomasrothofficial product that doesn’t disappoint me! The Max Complexion Correction Pads are perfect for acne prone skin ( also works on hormonal acne ) , helps a lot with hyper-pigmentation and makes your skin smoother & softer. I recommend using a moisturizer every time you use this pads because they’re strong and they can be very drying. As a recommendation, I use the #peterthomasroth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud ☁️ Cream Hydrating Moisturizer!❤️ My skin is more clearer, brighter and most importantly more balanced. I highly recommend these pads and I can promise you’ll notice a progress within 4-5 days after using them! Definitely my holy grail! Dewy Glassy Skin Tutorial – Best Products to use for Dry and Oily Skin – 2018
What is glassy skin? Glassy skin is a Korean beauty trend rapidly making its way to the USA. Glassy skin means exactly what it sounds like, skin that looks like glass and another way of saying clean and transparent-like skin. To achieve natural dewy skin it is crucial to have a killer skincare routine! But don’t worry, I tried and researched all of the product listed. I list the best product for dry and oily skin to achieve radiant glassy skin!
How to get Glassy Skin:
To get glass skin, ideally, your skin should be very hydrated, luminous, and clear from any breakouts. However, while many of us work on bettering our dry skin, you can still achieve the “glass skin” look.
Tips for Glassy Skin:
Drink a lot of water
Don’t pick your face
Stay away from a super heavy foundation and powders.
Exfoliate skin to remove any dead skin.
Use a hydrating toner and follow with a hydrating gel.
Do use a primer to keep makeup from moving too much (this is a problem with glass skin makeup).
Use cream powders and highlighters rather than powder type products.
Watch my YouTube Tutorial to learn how I achieved dewy and glass skin using no brushes!

The Best Way to Wash Your Face, According to Your Skin Type
Beauty
Hana HongAug 03
Turns out that there’s a lot more to cleaning your face than just soap and water. We spoke with a top dermatologist to pinpoint the best face-washing techniques for every skin type.
Oily skin
Kate McIndoe/rd.com
Those with oily skin may need a bit more than a bar of soap to neutralize that shine; the bright side is that you have more room to experiment with tools and exfoliants. Debra Jaliman, MD, board-certified dermatologist in New York City and author of Skin Rules, is a big fan of the Clarisonic Sonic Facial Cleansing Brush System. “The sonic technology helps to gently remove dead skin from pores, so they don’t get clogged,” she says. Using it once a day is sufficient. If you don’t want to invest in the brush, a cotton pad or baby washcloth are good substitutes. (Be sure to use a clean washcloth every time you wash your face.) A face wash like Burt’s Bees Soap Bark and Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream is strong enough to remove oil, makeup, and grime, but with chamomile and aloe, it won’t strip your skin of moisture. Follow with an oil-free, mattifying moisturizer day and night and be sure to use sunscreen lotion in the morning. Mederma’s Facial Cleanser is a great option as well. It’s moisturizing qualities help your skin realize it does not need to produce so much oil. Don’t miss these beauty secrets for women with oily skin.
Dry skin
Kate McIndoe/rd.com
The way you wash your face can be a make-it-or-break-it experience for those with dehydrated skin. “It is especially important to choose a mild cleanser so that you don’t further dry out delicate skin,” Dr. Jaliman says. Pick one with ceramides, glycerin, and/or hyaluronic acid–any of these ingredients will help hydrate the skin. (A smart choice is IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Cleanser.) “Using a cotton pad, wash your skin in a gentle, circular motion,” she advises. Then pat, don’t rub, your skin dry to prevent irritation. Immediately follow with a potent hydrating moisturizer to lock in hydration. Jaliman recommends the CeraVe Moisturizing Cream for an extra boost of glycerin, hyaluronic acid, and ceramides.
Acne-prone skin
Kate McIndoe/rd.com
If pimples and blackheads seem to have a magical connection to your pores, you need a cleanser, toner, and moisturizer to make them disappear, Dr. Jaliman says. The best cleanser for you contains salicylic acid or glycolic acid, chemical exfoliants that help remove excess oil, dirt, dead skin cells, and bacteria and unclog your pores. A salicylic acid or glycolic acid-based toner like Peter Thomas Roth Max Complexion Correction Pads deliver a one-two punch and is especially helpful on oily T-zones. Follow with a light moisturizer morning and night and always apply SPF lotion in the morning. Finally, remember that you can’t “scrub” away blemishes—the result of overzealous washing is red, raw skin and ramped up oil production. Although occasional exfoliating is helpful in keeping acne at bay, limit your washing routine to no more than twice a day, and be gentle to your pimples to prevent permanent inflammation and scarring.
Combination skin
Kate McIndoe/rd.com
Combination skin is particularly tricky to cleanse; with an oily T-zone and dry cheeks, your face just seems confused. “For combination skin, use a mild cleanser to wash the face and toner for the T-zone to take out the excess oil,” Dr. Jaliman says. Follow with a non-comedogenic moisturizer, concentrating it on the drier areas. Dr. Jaliman likes Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Serum, because it’s packed with hyaluronic acid, yet won’t clog your pores and is easy on your wallet, too. Find out the beauty rules for combination skin.

HEY LIT GALS
Today we are going head-on on beauty, Mythbusters style!
Yes, pretty princesses, through our diligent research, we are going to debunk our most common beauty and skincare myth-conceptions! We be pretty punny here ladies.
Myth 1: Blackheads on your little schnoz are actually not blackheads!
This was the table flipper and head turner here at the Illitgal team. Those little black dots are actually Subcutaneous filaments. In simple, real person talk… they are literally just a buildup of oil and dead skin cells that are trapped around the follicles of your teeny tiny hairs on your nose. Gross.
How do I get rid of them?
Ever tried to use a pore strip on these babies and find that they don’t go away? Well… In fact to get rid of these guys you need a type of Alpha Hydroxy Acid (aka; AHA) in your skin care products. Look out for Lactic Acid, Citric Acid, Tartaric Acid, Malic Acid, Sodium Lactate, Lauryl Lactate, Cetyl Lactate, Myristyl Lactate, Mandelic Acid, Gluconolactone or Fruit Acid.
We love:
Peter Thomas Roth - Max Complexion Correction Pads $32
Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare - Alpha Beta Universal Daily Peel $80-$88
Philosophy - Microdelivery Anti-Ageing Peel, $82
Myth 2: I need the highest SPF I can find!
You actually don’t! A little bit of the science side for you littens. There are three types of UV Rays: UVA, UVB and UVC.
UVC doesn’t even penetrate the atmosphere so we’ll just ignore them. Now UVA rays penetrate your skin deeply and alter the pigmentation of your skin producing that tan. As much as we want that tan it is still damaging to our skin. Finally, UVB rays are the primary rays that cause sunburn. The damage your skin’s DNA and causes pigment changes, photo ageing and possible cancerous tutors! (Eep!)
So what do I need?
SPF on your sunscreen actually refers to the amount of protection the product provides against UVB rays or Sunburn. However here’s to say that UVA and UVC rays aren’t harmful. You should look for broad spectrum protection as it protects from both UVB and UVA rays. SPF 15 and upward is enough protection from UVB rays and lookout for one of the following ingredients in your sunscreen: mexoryl, oxybenzone or avobenzone (Parsol 1789) for UVA protection, or titanium dioxide. Now you can kiss those lobster days goodbye.
We love:
Moonshot - Multi Protection UV Bouncer SPF 50+, $28
Murad - Oil-Control Mattifier SPF 15, $40
Philosophy - Ultimate Miracle Worker Multi Rejuvenating Emulsion Broad Spectrum Spf 25, $28
Myth 3: Oily skin doesn’t need moisturiser
A common misconception amongst the ladies and gents that have skin on the oilier side of the spectrum is that they can skip the moisturising step in their skin care routine. Well, you little littens, here's a bomb drop for yall: All skin always needs to be moisturised, especially oily skin.
The oil that your pores produce is called sebum, it is your natural oils that created by your face. Now we all know that the word ‘Oil’ in products can send us running in the opposite direction however completely stripping your lovely skin of all its oil actually causes our skin to produce more sebum making us more prone to acne producing bacteria!
What should I use?
It's simple! Just lookout for an oil-free or oil balancing moisturiser. There are so many amazing products on the market to combat excessive oil. You might want to also look out for the words’ ‘matte’ and ‘gel based’ as these are indications that these moisturisers will be less oily and also leave a smooth matte finish on your skin, combating that oily look.
We love:
Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel, $27
Philosophy - Renewed Hope In A Jar Gel Cream For Oily Skin, $14
Murad - Oil-Control Mattifier, $40
So there you have it, three beauty myths - BUSTED.
See you on the feed,
xoxo KIKS
