Random Hatchetfield Headcanons

The first time Alice Woodward ever smoked weed was when (after much inner turmoil) she asked Deb to shotgun it with her.

Max has two snaggletoothed incisors which is why people swear to god he has fangs.

Deb also has a snaggletooth which is what inspired the vampire part of Alice’s vampiric sapphic play. Alice also thinks it’s ironic she made a vampire character when Deb is a vegan.

Ruth as a Sophmore hit on Senior Alice a lot. Alice thought it was funny and she and Deb “adopted” her. Max and Steph also put the PANIC in bi panic for Ruth.

Max would find it weirdly hot that Grace wears bathing suits under her clothes because of the idea that he gets to see what her body looks like before even she does.

The hospital is downtown, so Becky Barnes definitely got infected in TGWDLM. Despite never wanting to do it again, Becky climbs the tree as someone calls the HFPD to save Kathy’s cat because she’s still infinitely compassionate even under Pokey’s control. Plus, Pokey knows she wants to get over the trauma associated with climbing trees, so he makes her do it to give her a big number about finally overcoming her past. She accidentally flings the cat as soon as the song starts, which is why in Show Me Your Hands, the cat dies so quickly even though it JUST got called in.

Peter infected Steph who infected Deb who infected Alice in TGWDLM. Pete and Steph would have been Sophomores and Deb and Alice were Seniors, but I always imagine Steph and Deb knowing eachother because MRFC said Steph is in the Smoke Club on Twitter at some point. Assuming Steph’s been a little punk for a while, she’s been in the smoke club since at least Sophomore year, and probably a new inductee the same year as TGWDLM (2018).

Alice and one of her parents (maybe Bill) were also raised in purity culture because we know the Woodwards and the Chastitys go to the same church. The Woodwards probably take it with a grain of salt though (Alice has expressed dislike over Grace’s prudishness)- either that or one of her parents (probably her mom) wasn’t originally from said church and also raised Alice with “this is what you’re learning here, but here’s also what I learned at my church at your age.” Bill was likely the one raised in purity culture because he does NOT LIKE DEB and thinks that if she HAS TO date a girl, she should date someone like Grace Chastity, implying she’s an exemplary teen girl. Ms. Woodward lets Deb sleep over and probably knows she smokes and likes her anyways; three points for Alice’s mom not being the puritanical one.

Ted reads romance novels. He’s a former geek turned sleazeball- you know he reads the smuttiest novels ever and calls them “his research”. He refuses to read any book with the friends to lovers trope because it’s too upsetting to think about. (Side note Time Bastard gave us a definite date that timelines don’t branch/reset before depending on whichever theory you believe because the homeless man is in every timeline, meaning that Jenny’s death is fixed in time and never changes: October 7th 2004, so the timelines change anywhere between October 8th 2004 and 2018.)

In whatever timeline Emma finally gets to have her weed farm, she meets Paul when he tells her he was prescribed that marajamij for his anxiety and he was too scared to try Xanax. She thinks he’s kind of cute for a wet cat of a corporate slave. “Fuck the patriarchy? Yes please.” (Side note Paul seems so uptight and unfuckable like bro gotta be blank down there like a Ken doll and has no discernible kinks from what I remember while Emma is laid back and chill asf and like… normal in comparison so yeah sure Paulkins canonically fucks but does Emma enjoy it?? Like dude even Pete’s more fuckable than him come on.)

Pete and Steph don’t kiss when they admit their feelings for eachother even though one of them would die before ever getting to kiss each other because they both think it’ll only make it that much harder to go through with sacrificing the other. One of the reasons Pete also chooses to be the one to take the bullet because he doesn’t think he even COULD pull the trigger on her. Like it’d be physically impossible for him, in his mind.

TGWDLM was originally meant to be an allegory for the institution brainwashing us. Show Me Your Hands and America’s Great Again: examples of people in power working for and fulfilling the evil wishes of some almighty, otherworldly, inhuman THING (be it aliens, be it those in power). It’s clearly meant to satirize the way that power corrupts and tries to convince you its way is better. Even Hidgens, THE FUCKING TEACHER, tries to teach his student that it will be better for everyone to join in that corruption and give in to the hive mind. This reminds me of how the school system in America tries to paint our history as something glamorous; manifest destiny instead of genocide of the indigenous populations. The people in power convincing those under them that the deaths of countless lives is a good thing and it will pave the way to a better future. Cool motive, still murder. Which is why Emma “Fuck the Patriarchy” Perkins is the last one to be infected. She was incapable of being brainwashed , and even when she was the last one left, she saw that the people watching didn’t care, and the all-consuming threat of corrupted power closes in on her until the very last moment.

The Lords in Black were going to try to convince whoever sacrificed their most treasured something to do more work for them, but Grace required very little convincing. Like Wiggly spoke into her mind like “Gracy-Wace! You forgot my booky-wook! Look in it, see any thing you like? Wanna kill all the pervy-wervys?” And she’s like “holy cow I can kill all the pervy-wervys with this book?” Pete would have needed the most convincing because he’s just lost the only girl who will ever love him (in his mind) and so he’d think these things took away his one chance at true love and NEVER want to deal with them again. Even if they offered him a way to get her back, he’s too smart to know that won’t come without an even bigger price AND too paranoid to think she won’t come back wrong like Max did.

If the Green-Foster family ever did get to move to California and Lex got to be an actress, her interview attitude would be a lot like Reneé Rapp and if she ever got asked about why she’ll openly shit talk people in an interview, she’s like “I used to work retail I learned pretty fast that nothing gets done if you keep your mouth shut.”

This talk of a rerun has me thinking about how they would divvy up the characters in TGWDLM now that they have more actors and (hopefully) a larger budget.

I’d keep the main cast (paul, emma, bill, ted, charlotte) the same obviously. Then I’d keep Jeff as Sweetly and McNamara, Mariah as Alice, Zoey, and Melissa, and obviously joey has to be homeless guy and hot chocolate boy.

But then I’d cast,

Curt as Mr. Davidson

Kim as Green Peace girl (she’d kill lah dee da da day)

Bryce as Nora (and det shapiro for the show me yours hands song)

Angela as Deb (and also maybe give us a deb and alice song?)

See i wouldn’t want them to change the main story at all, i just want more from it. And i want to hear these songs i love with a fuller ensemble. Plus i have this whole idea in my head where, when paul and emma are the last ones and they’re running from mcnamara, they’re coming across other characters songs in passing. Like they’ll run past pete and steph singing if i loved you, lex singing califorMIA, etc.

It’ll be interesting to see how they would exchange some of the meta jokes that made fun of their low production value (again assuming they get a larger budget for the rerun). Plus, i imagine the bigger budget will probably change the tone of the show too. Right now its pretty much a fun romp, but i think better lighting, music, setting and such will make it a bit darker, or at least, make the dramatic moments hit harder than they already do.

What if in some universe, another identity, miss Holloway was a librarian?

As a librarian, I know a lot about people in my town - what people read tells you a lot about them. I know who's unhappy with their partner, I know who's children struggle with their mental health, I know all of the gossip of the old ladies.

Miss Holloway could spy on the citizens pretty easily- she would organise the library in a way that books about the paranormal would be just in her line of sight. If someone would come to the library for information, she would be there to help.

Jane used to come a lot, taking one or two books for herself ans some books for tim. Tom was pretty lost the first time he took Tim to the library, but after a while he started to look at some books himself.

The nerds, of course, are always there. Pete took Steph to see the library once. She took a comics and almost forgot to bring it back. Grace is... Grace. No smut in the library.

Linda is there with her blonde boys, despising every second of it. River is just trying to read and his brothers won't let him.

Becky used to come all the time, reading every romance book, but for a long time, she arrived once a year, apologising for returning the books so late and not staying fir more than two minutes. After her husband "left her", she came back to reading regularly.

Charlotte is one of the sweet religious woman that reads the most erotic shit you've seen. I see so much of them.

Bill is reading emotional and inspirational books, and lately he took some books about parenting. Sometimes he runs into Sylvia, who's reading sweet romance books.

Mr Davidson took every erotic book he could find.

Zoey tried reading les mis, got bored and never returned it.

Young ted took books about flirting.

Alice and deb go on dates in the library. I saw a straight couple do it once, it's adorable. Alice and Deb are both fandom trash, convince me otherwise.

Frank is not taking tons of books, but he trusts miss Holloway's recommendations and is almost never disappointed. He's never late. He can't afford that.

Sometimes, when the library is closed, wiley is there, switching the order of the books and turning them so you can't see the binding like a fucking monster.

Maybe she met duke while he looked for psychology books.

Hannah comes to the library every day, she's reading fantasy books in the corner and stays until closing time. Lex was worried about this, she didn't know you didn't have to pay for the library. Miss Holloway notices every lonely kid reading alone. She talks to Hannah. Maybe when Hannah is older she gets a job at the library too.

HEADCANONS. I have a few.

Right so I headcanon that Alice and the Nerdy Prudes were childhood friends. When Alice moved they kind of drifted apart, but Ruth still stayed in contact and they met up once or twice whenever Alice was in town. Alice also had a friendship with Steph as Bill thought it would help them to be close to the mayor, so in Ruth’s senior year, when her and Steph got closer, she started seeing more of Alice.

Ruth definitely realised her crush first. If Ruth spends more then a week with someone, she’ll at least decide she’s developed a crush (demiromantic Ruth my beloved) so maybe early into the second term of grade 11 she was like OH SHIT. Pete, Richie and Steph realised sooner, of course. The second Ruth stopped insulting Alice the way she insults all her friends, they knew.

Alice took longer, possibly up until Ruth confessing (though I’m not sure she’d have the confidence to do so). She’d reason that it’s not unusual she likes spending time with Ruth, right? She’s an old friend, it makes sense. Nothing to fret about. Eventually, I think it would be Steph or even Deb (either in an alternate platonic universe or as an open minded girlfriend) that just grabs Alice by the shoulders and. Shakes her.

With a bare minimum of info and questionable writing, limited screen writing and plentiful TV tropes experience, I shall attempt to predict the plot of npmd

Includes a very vague reference to yellow jacket, no details in case of spoilers 💫

Brenda and pals awaken a vengeful spirit after Brenda feels slighted by a Nerd. Is the slight real, probably not but it's hs and perception is everything. (Maybe Axe Man happened and Brenda tries to intervene into Steph and Pete's budding relationship but Pete shuts her down. Maybe a Nerd beat her for valedictorian. Maybe she was quoting something she heard on insta as fact and got "um, actually'd." Could be anything)

Nerds start getting attacked, maybe minor unexplained harassment before being killed. Books knocked out of hands by invisible forces, tripped, lockers closing, etc. The spirit feeds on fear, and anger, grows stronger. Steph is a kinda Alt Bad Girl and Grace Chastity sees herself as cool (if you watched s4 of The Circle, you'll know who I'm thinking of. Rachel, iirc?) she somehow skates until they both start interfering. It's the right thing to do.

But where GC is an active busy body, Steph is an information gatherer - unless there's immediate danger (re: nmt s2 ep4). Calling Joey's movie theater employee as an early victim, and possibly the reason Steph and GC team up.

Lord in Black prediction: Blinky. Manipulation of perception and violence for his own luls is very much his speed, especially in bottle environments like high school communities.

I could see a case for Wiggly, but he just had his full musical and his thing is more wide spread chaos for an actual ultimate goal from what we saw there. Not saying they can't have layers, we're all ogres in the end, but working on evidence to date.

If Mariah wasn't already playing Steph, I'd swing for sharpshooter Alice for the save cause Deb gets dragged in somehow but alas.

Conclusion... will this be the first musical with unambiguous protagonist survival? For the love of Webby, please starkid, we are fragile. General John MacNamara and his peeps successfully stop paranormal activity, maybe his husband is a hs teacher 😯 or a guidance counselor. Brenda gets called to the guidance counselor office a bit towards the end cause John didn't marry no fool.

Will GC also have a touch of the gift and be able to end this? Will Pete? Maybe Steph?! We'll find out in February 2023!

hello and welcome to my personal interpretation of Pete Spankoffski, Steph Lauter, and Lautski <3

yeah elementary school wasnt Easy for pete. it wasn’t Easy that elementary teachers had a rule about inviting the entire class to your birthday party (because pete knew as he handed out invitations that only ruth and richie would come) and it wasnt Easy to have Max looking over his shoulder for spelling test answers,  but he was working up the courage to talk to a girl !! a non-ruth girl !! a pretty girl who really only had one friend so maybe she was like him, maybe she could understand him- and then max is inviting her to the sixth grade basketball game and she’s agreeing and smiling and two girls are asking her if she’s gonna move into something like the white house now that her dad’s the mayor and she has never been farther away, maybe she wasn’t ever close to begin with. and maybe pete tries to go to the basketball game, just to talk to steph One Time, just once, to see if his pining was ever worth it. and before he can even step into the gym, max is there, punching him and kicking him to the floor. and pete can barely stand back up and his glasses are askew but max leaves, grinning with excitement for his game like nothing happened, and he makes a point to loudly greet stephanie once he’s inside the gym and it’s fucking middle school and everytbing sucks and in one week everyone is going to call him micropeter so maybe elementary school wasnt great for steph, because no matter what she did, how nice she may have thought she was, kids just didnt respond to her. until deb. deb who got to watch pg-13 movies with her parents and would giggle-whisper the curse words to steph. deb who always tried to help steph understand fractions and would insist they had a sleepover when steph got back disappointing grades. maybe steph got a few concerned parent-teacher meetings but hey, could’ve been worse. she could’ve had no one. and then her dad’s mayorial dreams become an obsession. he runs for it when steph is nine and loses. he tries again when she’s in fifth grade, but again, nothing. he starts to blame part of it on her, because why would anyone trust him to govern a town when he cant even ensure his own daughter is passing elementary level science? and then sixth grade comes and one day, steph’s mom is taking her and deb to get ice cream but the next, her mom is dead and her dad is the fucking mayor. and he doesn’t even really seem to react to her mother’s death. steph isn’t sure what happened, she wants answers, and sure sometimes soloman locks himself in his room and steph can hear a muffled sound—maybe crying, maybe praying—but he still wont talk to her about it. but you know who does talk to her? max jagerman. max jagerman thinks steph is hot shit. and maybe deb isnt enough for steph anymore. maybe steph wants to know what happens at the fifth date at pasqualli’s, maybe she doesn’t care about whatever movie (now r-rated) that deb wants to watch over the weekend. and it’s not like she’ll stop talking to deb. after all, her friends are starting a smoke club and max thinks the smoke club is cool. max thinks it’s cool. and yeah, steph’s still struggling in school but she’s the smartest one of her new friends. and they actually ask her about herself too, they’re interested in her; well, interested in her dad being mayor. but hey, that’s still a part of her. and yeah it’s fucking middle school and it sucks but at least she’s not alone. and at least some funny shit happens. did you hear about the micro-peter kid? fucking hilarious. at least that’s not her.

Steph would almost definitely be there and while she isn't very interested the game and creates a brick wall of a barbarian half-orc woman she eventually gets into the game. Many sessions down the line when her barbarian sacrifices herself for the party Steph rolls up a new character who is a teifling bard who plays the harmonica and adopts every child npc that the party finds.

Pete would get Ted in for a couple sessions playing a halfling rouge who flirts with every woman npc or pc, but eventually Ted stops coming to his brother's 'stupid nerd games' but in reality he really enjoyed them, but was embarrassed by the fact that he did.

Deb would join up with a half-elven wild magic sorcerer who's life goal is to collect every type of frog in the world. Deb would also draw some killer art of all the pcs/npcs.

Alice would eventually be dragged in by Deb and she would def play an elven wizard woman who ends up having a very cute romance with Deb's sorcerer due to their two character's incredibly differing views and personalities. Alice is still somehow the voice of reason in the party, and tries to make sure that none of the other characters die.

Ziggs would maybe join up here and there for a couple one-shots or in the main campaign where their character only joins up sometimes. They are the main chaos magnet in the group and their fire genasi warlock (who is engaged to their patron) somehow has burnt down at least five towns and one or two cities.

If Grace would join up (I highly doubt she would since she is probably one of the opinion that dnd is the 'devils game') she would almost certainly play a human paladin or cleric who is constantly praying to her god and being very lawful stupid. Grace tried to get her character to worship the christian god, but Pete vetoed it.

I think way too much about dnd lol. :)

Back to the NPMD x Monster High AU, a couple more things:

I would like to rescind my Werecat Brenda in favor of Nighthawk Harpy Brenda. Yes, I know I made Kyle a werewolf to parallel Brenda being a werecat but I also have a better offer for Kyle too: Yeti, which is why he still holds a grudge against Max for wrecking his dad’s ski-doo.

I have so many thoughts on Vampire Grace. She was born a normie and is a recently turned vampire (maybe even a vampire hunter that failed on an outing and was turned by her prey). She’s having trouble coping with her religion now that she’s a monster and constantly wears turtlenecks like the one she wears in Perky’s Buds to cover up her bite marks. She tried still wearing her cross necklace as a show of rejecting this new form, trying to embrace the pain of having the cross so close because she thought that loving Jesus even when she’s a form of half-demon would make herself better than other Christians, but it hurt way too badly for her to handle so now she just says she wears it underneath her sweater. Jason was born a vampire and wants to help her through her dysphoria but Grace won’t accept anyone treating her like she’s a vampire (even though she is). She does like the part about eating flesh and drinking blood- it’s what Jesus says to do with himself, so in a way, she’s making everyone she eats a little more Christ-like. That’s her thought process, at least. She also still pretends to be human around her parents and normie best friend Gabe. Gabe may or may not know that she’s a vampire though and wants to seduce her so she can turn him too.

In High School is Killing Me, the lyric is now changed to “Fuck you, biteology.”

Max’s Jekyll form is human (Max), but his Hyde form looks like his ghost (The Jagerman).

Stachie is soooo canon because Richie loves swimming but as a werecat Stacy refuses to get in the water and they feel like their romance is especially forbidden because of it. If Richie didn’t love the water so much, he’d wish he was a werecat too because he also wants to be a pretty little kitty meow meow

The Woodwards are flytraps and that’s why Alice doesn’t smoke- plants don’t do that to other plants. This is often a point of contention between Deb and Alice even though they try to pretend it isn’t an issue

Steph’s secretly embarrassed about her decay so she always makes sure her wraps are FRESH, but the rest of her outfit is always her jagged hand-cut crop tops and ripped jeans. Her decay spread to her scalp and forehead and everyone knows better than to say something about the wraps on her forehead or how she always wears a beanie but Pete accidentally tells her he thinks it makes her look even cooler. Swooning ensues because nobody dares address her flaws, much less say she’s cooler for having them.

Steph secretly wishes Pete had a corporeal form because her love language is physical touch and she’s sad she’ll never be able to hold him. (Kind of like how Cleo is sad she’ll never get to look Deuce in the eyes).

Sophia/Spitfire as a background character fire elemental is a MUST.

The janitor is a crazy man who lives in the catacombs under the school and is possessed by what the student body can only assume is a goat demon and Peter Geist feels weirdly like he knows him.

Pete has also died recently as one of The Jagerman’s attacks when he was out of control, and he’s new to the school along with Grace. He’s stuck in this dorky outfit he wore so he wouldn’t get bullied and can never change clothes, but at least he’s impossible to punch unless if another spirit tried to attack him. As opposed to Grace in life, he was very interested in the supernatural (one of his special interests) so he knows quite a bit about monster types but is always hungry to learn more about the new world he found himself un-living in

Seniors and sophomores aren't a big difference. Now I don't say this bc it's only 2/3 years difference, 3 years can big a difference when you're younger, and I think seniors dating freshman is weird. Like 17/18 Vs 14/15 are pretty different ages.

So anyway I decided to figure out everyone's ages in comparison to each other.

The timeline: tgwdlm takes place in fall 2018, black friday takes place on November 23rd 2018, nmts1 takes place in 2019, nmts2 takes place in summer 2020, and npmd takes place in fall 2020.

Tgwdlm: Alice is both said to be 17 and 18, she's a senior in high school. "now I get that Alice is 18, she's a senior" and "I'm fucking 17, at least I was before you left me" I think "at least I was before you left me" could imply that she was 17 when her parents got divorced, so I think her being 18 makes more sense, but it could be either. Danny and Sof could be any age in high school. I'll get to Deb.

Black Friday: Nick has said somewhere that Lex would be 18 in BF and that Ethan would be 19 (I can't actually remember if it's spefically said 19 or if it was said just that he's a little older. Or if it's actually spefically said that Lex is 18 either or just that she would be a senior in high school if not for being dropout, but 18 is a fair assumption for a senior). Also Hannah is 13.

Nmt1: Deb is said to be going to art school and at this point Alice has graduated school, since in tgwdlm Bill says "why don't you date someone at your own school?" we can assume Deb was also high schooler then, so she's the same age as Alice. So they're both 18 or 19 during Watcher World. Hannah is 14.

Nmt2: Steph calls herself and Pete "adults" so assuming Steph for sure knows Pete's age or isn't lying they're both 18. Grace is probably about the same age. Gabe's also probably the same age as Grace. Mary and Noah spefically say they're "only 18". Ziggs is gonna be about the same age as Alice & Deb, I'd say 20, Alice and Deb are also 20 at the point. Lex and Ethan would 20/21 at this point. Hannah is ofc 15 and a freshman in high school. Daniel is "no older than Hannah" and powers peak at 15 so he's probably 15, maybe 14. Sofia is said to be "maybe a year or two Hannah's senior" so she's 16 or 17, I'd say it's more likely she's 16.

Npmd: Grace, Steph, Pete, Max, Richie, Ruth, Jason, Kyle, Brenda and Stacy are all seniors so they're all 17 or 18, maybe 19. Going off abstinence camp I'd say Steph and Pete are both 18 but Steph also says "wake me up when you turn 18" this is obviously in contradiction to AC. They just meet recently in both scenarios so Steph could be just taking guess in both. The line If I Loved You could also just mean "you're not mature" rather than Pete actually isn't 18. So Pete could be 17 or 18 I'm not really sure. I don't think anyone else's ages are specifically stated? Brooke, Trevor, Ruldoph, Caitlyn and the other theatre kids could be any high school age.

So uh. Yeah. There you go. Now simply add or subtract a years if you need to figure out a character's age in a different year (like Steph would be 16 during tgwdlm & bf). Feel free to use this to figure out wether you think different ships are ok or now depending on their ages.

any ships between the guy/black friday teens and the npmd teens make me so uncomfortable for no reason whatsoever. genuinely idk why i think its the fact that the bf/guy teens would be seniors when the npmd cast were sophomores which is just so icky to me.... like. i think id be alright with them if they were all a few years older with the same age gap (once the npmd cast is a few years out of high school) but currently i get really grossed out thinking about them. even more confusingly ive got exactly one exception to this which is max/ziggy and i cannot for the life of me figure out why it doesnt make me uncomfortable. it just feels different for some reason
