How I like to imagine the ZaDr dynamic. How they sift from enemies to something more. And what I fucking love about ZaDr.
Some thoughts.
Zim and Dib, two emotionally neglected kids. Having little to no friends or any emotional support system
They became the primary attachment figures for each other: Based on them being enemies this relationship/development
it’s bound to be very complicated and messy.
There are various emotions mixed up in their dynamic. The initial hatred, frustration, and antagonism because they literally are enemies
but also the feelings of bonding, caring, appreciation, respect, and understanding. Then when getting older, also attraction, passion, and all those fuzzy feelings get mixed in.
But essentially, all the positive emotions that one develops and gets to experience with a close person like love, adoration, connection, tenderness, compassion, or simply joy
all those also get mixed up with the ‘negative’ ones.
The brain quite literally connects feelings of affection and connection with violence, aggression, cruelty, abuse, and brutality. This is trauma bonding, reward-based learning, and positive conditioning.
Them being obsessive and excessive as a fundamental part of their core personality only adds as a multiplier.
When this happens in a critical life phase (being young and in adolescence), having nearly no other positive influences in life and being neglected (emotionally especially), this connection the brain made will get so deeply internalized and won’t ever truly go away.
It could also connect to your sexuality and all that.
(There are real-life equivalencies)
What I’m getting at is, all this makes just so much sense!
This dynamic and their relationship is super complex and nuanced because of this.
Their relationship is incredibly intense and yes totally toxic but also compassionate.
Them fluctuating between high psychological distress/tension (hating, fighting, obsessing, loving, being in denial about your existence, generally trauma responses e.g., through neglect, loneliness, abandonment) and then them experiencing the sweet release through the aspects of their dynamic (connection, closeness, intimacy) as mentioned.
This stuff becomes quite simply addictive to someone.
This is why they can get crazy shit feral/hardcore with each other and also feel pleasure while doing so.
Like cutting each other up (or open), taunting, fighting, beating each other...
But because I’m a sucker for ambivalence and stark contrast, I like to imagine them being very, very cute with each other as well (occasionally even without showing the bad stuff while being cute), still toxic, still abusing and batshit crazy but absolutely meaning everything to each other and deeply caring.
Fluffy but in an obsessive and excessive way.
They will always somewhat be mean to each other and never shy to argue, even if just in a teasing and more lighthearted manner.
This is their love language after all.
This is how they show they care, and it’s what they know.
Also, this is just how they are personality-wise: thick-headed, intense people with strong opinions and even stronger egos.
And let’s not forget about stupidness, dorkyness, and comedy sprinkled in.
ZaDr is a fantastic way to deep dive into complex inner psychological human workings and I love exploring this.
(I love love love intense emotions.)
It’s even comforting in a way, if you ask me.
Hate and love are so close for a reason.
It’s the most intense we can feel.
And I mean, I guess we all (or many of us) can somehow relate to not liking or even hating a close one (even if only sometimes). But when a real deep bond is established with someone and when affection is also part of your connection (even if only sometimes), this stuff just doesn’t go away. Toxic relationships are messy and certainly not easy nor black and white. You just understand this emotion
of how complicated you can feel about someone, and what complexity this can bring with it.
Note that, this is how I like to imagine it. One can have a totally different perspective on it and this is valid as well!
Also this is romanticized, fiction and reality operate differently. Cognitive dissonance baby.

One Piece The will of the D. My personal theory
I was re-watching the episodes where Luffy would use Gear 5 for the first time. As the Drums of liberation thundered through the sea, it kind of struck me how Zunisha reacted to the sound.
Specifically his choice of words.
Words, in the world of One Piece, especially in the mind of Oda-san, are never thrown around casually. NEVER. Remember, just to say one example, how for years (decades dare I say) we believed the last island name was Raftel and how everything changed the moment we saw that name: "Laugh Tale"?. Things were never going to be the same. Roger and his crew saw something so funny, so unbelievably hilarious they just have to name that final island, at the end of their journey, "Laugh Tale". Till that moment we knew that those smiles had something special, yet with just that name, with just that little correction everything we knew was completely twisted.
At that point I remember thinking "Is there anything in this story that I'm actually sure of? Do I really know the meaning of anything I've read so far?". I doubted everything at that point.
And that is just ONE example. Another?
Gold Roger, or as we now know Gol D. Roger.
Can we even imagine what that ONE PIECE could even be? Or mean?
Back to Zunisha, and with that thought...that doubt in mind, I noticed the pronunciation of Zunisha at that sound "The Drums of Liberation" or, to transcribe the Japanese pronunciation : "doramu".
"Interesting" I thought.
Why keeping that word in English? Why is that so important? So much so that Zunisha, a thousand years old elephant, ally of the one and only Joy Boy, uses that specific word as his heart soared at the sound.
"Those with the D. will bring chaos to the world"
Occam's Razor, put simply, states: “the simplest solution is almost always the best.” And I see so much of Oda-san in this. I can almost see him laughing his heart off as we shockingly reacted to such an easy and obvious answer such as "Laugh Tale" after theories and theories spreaded out. And look at that, all those years wondering what that Vegapunk would look like... right, that Vegapunk, the genius scientist "the man with the best brain in the world".... looking awfully and trivially like our renowned scientist Herr Einstein.
Looking back it was so obvious, wasn't it? The answer was right there!
And then it clicked to me:
What if the D. simply stands for Drums?
Those Drums of Liberation. Those Drums who always would accompany Joy Boy. His distinctive sign. Always with him. He was supposed to become a king, he was the first ever known pirate.
As such, he must have had a crew. His allies...his Drums. Those who will inherit his will and his message.
Though hidden and hunted, through the centuries those with the D. survived and they always bring chaos and revolution wherever they go.
Trafalgar D. Law (Dressrosa)
Hagwor D. Sauro (Ohara)
Monkey D. Luffy (basically every place he's been to until now)
Marshall D. Teach
What if those with the D. are the heirs of those who once were together with Joy Boy? Maybe the members of his crew, or people from that Great Kingdom in which Joy Boy ruled and guided a war against the 20 kingdoms?
Those with the D. Also known as the "Natural Enemy of God". Those Gods living over the Red Line, those who delete history in their favor to maintain their power.
Those Drums who would be in the war during the battle, never stopping, never wavering. Guided by Joy Boy. Keeping his will alive.
I know what you're thinking.
"The D. standing for Drums? That's it?"
Impossibile. Absurd. So stupid it's almost... laughable, isn't it?

Tarot (Appearance, Age, Zodiac, and Element, & Gender)âàœ»àœŽÛȘÛȘ ━
‧₊˚.  : · ‱.  * ‱ ˚   . · * ✶   : · ‱  *   ˚ ✔
This post contains my personal interpretations of the minor and major arcana in relation to a person's appearance, age, zodiac sign, and the element most closely associated with their zodiac sign. I'm sharing this to organize my thoughts and document what I've studied so far. Feel free to use it if you find it helpful for your own readings. If you decide to use this for a reading, simply ask, "What would the hair colour be for x suit?"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
𖀣𖄧˚ Appearance
Cups: Light/Blonde hair, blue eyes, fair complexion
Wands: Red hair, ruddy complexion, hazel or green eyes
Swords: Brown or light brown hair, light or medium complexion, grey eyes or brown eyes
Pentacles: Dark/Black hair, dark complexion, brown or dark eyes
To represent multiple colours in someone's hair or to indicate it is dyed, two cards of any suit can signify dual-tone or two colours with shade variations, while three or four cards can show dyed or multi-coloured hair.
𖀣𖄧˚ Age
Pages: Young (18+ or younger)
Knights: 20-30+ (young adult/early adulthood)
Kings/Queens: 40-50+ (middle adulthood/old age)
Keep in mind that trying to determine someone's age doesn't always reveal their physical age; it might instead reflect their mental or emotional maturity. So, consider that. If you still want to figure it out, try using these suits:
Cups: Emotional maturity
Wands: Energy/spirit/drive
Swords: Mental maturity
Pentacles: Physical age
For wands, it may be a bit confusing, but they could indicate a person's youthful or mature drive. Pentacles, on the other hand, seem to be the best indicator of a person's actual age.
𖀣𖄧˚ Zodiac Sign (Sun/Moon/Rising)
The Fool: Pisces, Aquarius (personal interpret: Aries)
The Magician: Gemini and Virgo
The High Priestess & The Chariot: Cancer
The Empress: Taurus and Libra
The Emperor: Aries
The Hierophant: Taurus
The Lovers: Gemini
The Hermit: Virgo
Wheel of Fortune: Taurus, Scorpio, Leo, Aquarius
Justice: Libra
The Hanged Man & The Moon: Pisces
Death & Judgement: Scorpio
Temperance: Sagittarius
The Devil: Capricorn
The Tower: Scorpio, Aries
The Star: Aquarius
The Sun & Strength & The World: Leo
𖀣𖄧˚ Gender
Feminine: the High Priestess, the Empress, Queens, Pages, Justice, the Star, the Moon, the World, the Tower, Death, the Chariot
Neutral: Temperance (sorta masculine-leaning), Magician (sorta masculine-leaning), the World, Wheel of Fortune, Aces, the Lovers, Judgement (sorta feminine-leaning)
Masculine: Strength, the Emperor, the Hanged Man, the Hermit, the Devil, the Sun, the Fool, the Hierophant, Kings, Knights
Please note that these terms are not necessarily indicative of a person's actual gender (unless you choose to interpret them that way). They can also refer to the person's energy at a given moment or over time. It's important to understand that "Emperor" does not always mean the person is male; it can signify a disciplinarian trait. Similarly, "Empress" is about nurturing qualities.
𖀣𖄧˚ Element
Cups: Water - Scorpio, Cancer, Pisces
Wands: Fire - Aries, Sagittarius, Leo
Swords: Air - Aquarius, Libra, Gemini
Pentacles: Earth - Capricorn, Taurus, Virgo
Although you might be familiar with a person's sun sign, there are other important aspects to consider, such as their dominant element. For instance, someone could have an Aquarius sun sign, but their chart might be predominantly influenced by the element of water.
If you want to keep it easy, there are so many ways to figure out a person's zodiac sign either by figuring out by suits, major arcana, or best possible option would be understanding their houses.

Final âàœ»àœŽÛȘÛȘ ━
‧₊˚.  : · ‱.  * ‱ ˚   . · * ✶   : · ‱  *   ˚ ✔
That concludes this post for now. I will share more of my personal interpretations of tarot card readings and meanings in the future. It's crucial to remember that your interpretations may differ from mine, so stay open-minded and trust your intuition. Ultimately, that's what it's all about. Thank you.

The Last Regrets of an Immortal
There is a sin I must confess
lest I die with a mind of doubt.
My dead friend, clad in new flesh,
is here for vengeance for stringing him out
Without him I would be destitute.
For my success I owe him all.
His cause was resolute
and it was by my hand that he would fall
Stalwart as ever, Nerevar led us proud
against the wicked Dwemer
to see them driven out.
After the War had ended,
Nords routed and Dwemer gone,
we delved into Red Mountain
and found the Heart of Lorkhan.
In Azura’s name we promised
to never tap the Heart.
“Destroy it,” bade the goddess,
“lest it tear the world apart.”
But Lorkhan’s Heart called out to us.
Its power we could not ignore.
Its blood made us covetous,
and so we murdered the Hortator.
The Godsblood drove us mad.
All we wanted was more.
Not a tear was had
for slain Nerevar on the floor.
Away with his feet, off with his face,
his carcass we forsook
so we could hide our disgrace
before Azura could look.
A lie, a trick, his people we deceived.
We fed him to Red Mountain
so that his body they could not grieve.
Azura cursed us for our grievous sin,
for we raised the She-Prince’s ire.
She turned us to ash from our golden skin
and lit our eyes with Red Mountain’s fire.
Our people’s love, in their hearts, held through,
but from her curse there was no return.
Had I known her vengeance true
Nerevar’s body would ne’er had burned.
The Daedra’s wrath remained fervent.
For decades with her I would contend,
cutting down her dogged servants
sent to bring my end.
Alas, my faith has failed.
My efforts were for naught,
for my old friend stands before me
with a blade that would see me rot.
He has long proven his worth,
with his blade, burning and true,
and in his passion he charges forth.
His beloved Trueflame runs me through.
Now I lay here dying.
The Newly Born Nerevar long gone,
off to slay my counterparts,
who, too, did him wrong.
Death has come to take me.
At long last I shed a tear,
for I await my sweet release
from the guilt I should have feared.
Immortality was well and good
as there’s no cure for mortal strife.
But cheating death with godhood
was never worth the price.

Warring: This is my interpretation.
🐍 They have cat pupils on both of their eyes.
🐍Their blood contains poison, that can easly kill other demons, expect First Blood.
🐍Being second most powerful demon race (after First Blood), they hold power in Makai.
🐍 When a female vibora gets preagnant, they usualy give birth to twins or triplets (that explains why Cordelia give birth to triplets).
🐍Just like First Blood, they keep thier blood pure by marriage with other viboras.
🐍If they rule had a child with a woman that is a non-vibora, they are outcasts.
🐍Women wears provocative desses, to attract the attention of men.

đ“†©âŸĄđ“†Ș An Interpretation of Vampires đ“†©âŸĄđ“†Ș
Let me preface by saying this; I do not come into my interpretation with a religious mindset, as many pop-culture portrayals have. I simply have one idea; Vampires are predators.
But lets begin.
This is long. Prepare yourself.
General appearances, In my opinion Vampires, widely speaking, have an 'otherworldly' attractiveness. Unnerving but for some reason you just can't take your eye off them. Often invoking an unease in any human that looks at them for to long.
When it comes to the Skin of a vampire, Vampires have a colder tone to them, no matter their initial skin colour. The cold tone comes from the lack of blood within their bodies. People with an already cool tone when they were human, appear to be more 'eerie' as a vampire then someone who had a warm skin tone. Along with the coldness of their skin, their veins become more prominent and shine like the inside of raw opal when they are in the right lighting. This opaline appearance in the veins varies in colour and shade from vampire to vampire with some having a 'fire opal' vein and some having 'black opal', 'white opal' and other variants of opal. But the commonality is always that the opaline shine is the raw appearance of the opal. This colouration comes from the venom within their veins. Any injuries caused by other Vampires will show up as scars in the same sheen as the Vampires veins.
The Eyes of a Vampire, Vampiric eyes are red, varying shades of red, but still red. Some shades can be specific to the individual Vampire but their eyes will still go through multiple shades. Each shade is dependent on the hunger level of the Vampire and is essentially a gauge in how much human blood remains in the Vampires system. The hungrier/thirstier a Vampire gets the darker their eyes get and the darker the bruising under their eyes will become. Now, Vampires have impeccable vision, better than any human and better than any animal, but their night vision is by far their best sense. Vampires have an overdeveloped tapetum lucidum (the 'mirror' at the back of the eyeball that allows increased night vision), which means that their eyes have the same distinct eyeshine as an owl when any light is directed at their eyes. The eyeshine is much like their vein colour, and can be distinct to the particular vampire but generally speaking their eyeshine is an eerie red and orange like Barn Owls.
The Teeth of a Vampire, A Vampires sharp teeth, in my interpretation, have to grow in. This happens in a time-span after they’ve been bitten. Their Vampiric, sharpened teeth must grow in to the bone of the jaw, which is excruciatingly painful for the period of time in which is happens. The teeth grow in and the human teeth fall out, over a reasonably quick period of time (for some). And even then, not all of the teeth are in fact sharp. The main function of regrowth being to harden the teeth and bring forward the sharpness needed for tearing. Some teeth that regrow will not be 'pointed' and sharp, but will have a sharper edge to them. This happens on both bottom jaw and top jaw. The central incisors, for one, are a pair of teeth that don’t need to be angled/pointed and therefor won’t be when the vampiric ones grow in, but will still have a sharper edge. The lateral incisors can develop a slight sharp edge and can become more canine when they grow in, but for some do stay ‘blunt’. Now, canines, do become more angled/pointed and sharp; more ‘canine shaped’ as you could say. The molars and premolars don’t change so much, but they do get a sharper edge to them. Some premolars, first premolars, can become shaped a little bit more like canines, in order to help with any slicing.
Time frame of tooth growth, The time in which it takes for a full set of teeth to grow in depends on the individual Vampires ability to 'receive' the change and how their body heals to the change. The rough average amount of time it takes for a full set of teeth to grow in is roughly a year and a half to two years. Which is not time in itself for a Vampire really. If growth of new teeth takes longer than 2 years, that vampire can be slightly looked down upon as having ‘dirty blood/venom’ or as simply being weak. But a vamp who’s teeth grow in within the year is usually seen as being ‘purer’ and having ‘cleaner blood/venom’. (Which will be discussed more). In this whole time period a (fresh) newborn will not be able to feed effectively as their jaws will be in excruciating pain, depending on growth rate. And that affects the ability to bite.
Vampire Age basics, Age is something that doesn't particularly matter to Vampires, but there are two very important stages; the first being the period that is known as ‘Fresh’ newborns, and newborns. 'Fresh' newborns are the ones who are in the major growth period of their existence; when their teeth are growing in, their emotions are regulating and their lust for blood is beginning to regulate. I say 'beginning' because even Vampires past all newborn stages can be feral and snap when they're incredibly thirsty. The fresh newborn phase, for the most part, completes at around 3 to 3 and a half years. As that is when the most of the changes will have finished, for the majority. But Vampires can still, emotionally, be newborns for over a decade. When they’ve passed both newborn phases there isn’t much more labeling that goes on. The next labelling is for 'ancients' which are over hundreds of years old but such Vampires are not to common.
Vampire Issues (in reference to newborn phases), In relation to their emotional regulation and impulses when they’re in their 'fresh' newborn phase. Mainly their violence. 'Fresh' newborn and newborn violence is an issue created, and highlighted, by the fact that every emotion and feeling is amplified by the change. The intensity with which they feel becomes something most newborns can not handle and this causes horrific lashing out. Rages, anger, sorrow, etc. are the emotions that tend to have more of an effect, seeing as those are the emotions to affect human and non-human more. The 'slap in the face' of these bad emotions leads to rather vicious and harsh snaps, usually resulting in death of the vampire or humans around them. These snaps are things that are not remembered due to the moments being ‘blackouts’ completely and utterly. The 'blackout' could be acquainted to the adrenaline rush humans get in order to survive. It is a period of time the brain erases in order to prevent stress and anxieties re-emerging. While in these 'blackout' periods newborn Vampires are all animal and not much human and will do the most damage to themselves and others whilst 'blacked out'. But it usually last no more than 5 hours. Further issues come personality traits. The strongest trait is something that gets amplified by the change, as with other personality traits, though not so much. The issue manifests from the element of ‘malicious’ traits being much more amplified over other traits. Possibly as a survival mechanism.
The Venom of a vampire, Vampiric venom is a substance of high acidity and is highly corrosive to everything other than the vampire it came from. This means that Vampire venom will burn other vampires it comes into contact with and it will burn materials it comes into contact with. Venom is also highly individualistic and many vampires venom will have different acidity levels. Vampires are also not 'Inland taipan/snake' Venomous they are more so 'Komodo Dragon' Venomous. This relates to the way venom is administered to the body of the victim. As venom replaces every single liquid in the body (to an extent and a certain strength), it replaces saliva and this is how Vampiric venom is administered to the victim. They can not 'inject' venom like a snake, they rely on their sharp teeth to gore wounds severe enough to allow larger quantities of venom into the bloodstream. Even then, it usually takes more than a single bite to effectively turn a human. And a 'killing' wound to actually kill their prey, whatever it might be. Within the world of venom some Vampires possess 'cleaner venom' or venom considered to be purer then others. This comes down to the age of a Vampire as the older they are the more pure their venom is as it gets cycled and reproduced by their bodies it becomes purer with age. Newborn phases of Vampire have considerably less pure venom and that will affect the person they were sire if they bit someone (as mentioned before).
Vampire feeding habits, Vampire feeding habits vary massively depending on the individuals ability to metabolise blood. In this way a slow metabolism is something that will benefit a vampire as they get longer out of a meal. But a fast metabolism will require more frequent feeding and larger quantities of blood. A Vampire can only consume human blood. I believe vampires can consume small quantities of human meat, but only organ meats such as kidneys, liver and other such organs. Not the heart, as that is mostly muscle and realistically does not contain much value. Bone marrow is something a Vampire can consume to have a slow release of 'energy' because it is responsible for the production of blood cells. It is not uncommon for Vampires to absolutely rip open a human and devour the organs they can, and break open bones to access the bone marrow.
Vampire powers, Aside from the 'powers' Vampires already posses; their inhuman speed, senses and inhuman ability to not be injured by normal means, etc. Vampires can have other abilities manifest after their creation. These abilities can be simple things like emotional manipulations, basic shapeshifting (limited to one species of animal), seduction, able to sense more spiritual things, etc. Or more complicated abilities such as forms of 'mind control', forms of 'teleportation', elemental manipulation etc. But the more complicated the ability the more of a drain it presents on the Vampire, require a Vampire with a readily used complicated ability to need to consume more and more to sustain themselves healthily. Some Vampires will gorge themselves on blood and organ if they know they're going to need to use their (complicated) powers.
Vampire weaknesses, While Vampires are just about indestructible they do have a few weaknesses. One being Vampire venom; as mentioned before Vampire venom will burn other vampires and will kill them if enough is introduced into their system. Fire; I see Vampire venom as being considerably flammable, so if a vampire has open wounds they can catch on fire and it will not be able to be put out until every last drop of venom is burnt up. Effectively killing the vampire. Dismemberment; Ripping a Vampire apart will kill them. None of this 'they can stick themselves back together' I've seen before. Other 'in-human' beings; I see Vampires being weak to other beings such as werewolves (to an extent because in my interpretation werewolves will avoid vampires at all costs) and some of my own beings.
Other thoughts (Part 1/?),
Vampires can cry; Tears from a vampire will burn anything they land on, and will burn another vampire, but will never burn the vampire they came from. Perhaps like an acid burn/stain on a concrete floor.
Vampires can sleep; Sleep is possible for a vampire, but the vampire must be fully fed and must feel completely comfortable where they are, often leading to vampires hiding to sleep. Sleep is not needed, but is simply enjoyed by most.
Vampires are 'up themselves'; God complexes and narcissism are two highly common personality traits because vampires are incredibly powerful and of course that will give them a superiority complex.
Vampires see humans as food; Humans are seen as nothing more than a meal. Some vampires may form bonds with humans, but they are not healthy bonds, bonds of romance or any positive bond in general. Humans = Food.

random thought about how I see nikolai :
Tumblr media
alright so what im bout to say might be controversial, but despite how much i like Nikolai and even consider him a comfort character of mine (i have an intense emotional attachment to him it's crazy), i don't think he would actually comfort you unless you were extremely important to him. i think you’d need to gain his trust before everything went wrong for him. as in, i can't see the current Nikolai from the series showing genuine concern for others. i think his life, before he adopted this 'jester persona' that we see right now, had messed him up really badly. whatever happened to him in the past must have been extremely traumatic, making him the way he is today— like imagine; he doesn't even trust his own thoughts (at least that's how i understand his character). if he can't trust himself, how can he trust others? i think he's completely lost his trust in the world, in a way, even
TL;DR what i mean to say is that you’d need to have known Nikolai before he became the silly jester that we see in the current timeline of BSD for him to genuinely care for you as a person
he's such a paradoxical character it's very interesting to write about. i love how he is written and i wish we'll get to learn more about him one day

I’m just imagining your Bowser looking at movie/game Bowser and going “simp” 😒
But real talk, love your portrayal of Bowser! He would totally kick their asses! 😝 Removing his love for Peach just makes him that much more terrifying. He could maul anyone without remorse, including her! 😰
HAHAHA he would probably find him rather pathetic indeed! đŸ€Ł Although, my Bowser's obsession with obtaining Peach's magic makes him just as foolish and stubborn as his movie self. The only notable difference is that mine has a different motive for kidnapping her, and is a tad more ruthless. 👀
He loves himself (and Junior... admittedly more than he realizes), and aims for nothing but power. He would have no qualms whatsoever about killing anyone standing in his way, and Peach is no exception. On the contrary, Bowser knows how important she is - to both Mario and the Kingdom - and how much he can exploit this to his advantage, which is all the more reason for him to cause her harm. ><

How Luffy will lose his Devil Fruit power. My personal theory
Dense clouds darken the sky. Lightning bolts cut through them, tearing them apart. No problem for Luffy, who, in true 1930s cartoon style, turns the lightning into elastic ropes and starts bouncing around like a mad spinning top, all accompanied by hysterical laughter and amused grimaces. And he’s not the only one having fun, although Kaido’s entertainment is of a different kind.
Kaido, the immortal, has waited his whole life for this fight. Someone on his level, someone who could face him like no one ever has. This doesn’t mean he intends to lose, quite the opposite. Luffy’s Gear 5 caught him off guard, sure, it’s hard not to be destabilized by “such an absurd power,” but the emperor quickly recovers.
And not only that, in the heart of the battle, Kaido loudly declares something that feels immutable, something as certain as death:
“You can play around all you want! But
a Devil Fruit power will never conquer the world! It’s amazing how things work. Just how Roger was not a Devil Fruit power user
only Haki can triumph all else!”
Yeah, at that moment we learned something that until then everyone, myself included, believed to be the opposite: Roger, the Pirate King, did not possess the powers of a Devil Fruit. This man had conquered the Grand Line, discovered ancient secrets, and gained worldwide fame, using “simply” the strength of his Ambition (Haki).
A real shock, right? Yes, but
on second thought, not so much.
Why? Well, it’s curious, but from chapter 1 of One Piece, we learn about a formidable character, incredibly strong, who does not possess the powers of a Devil Fruit. Red-Haired Shanks is the very first example. He is one of the Four Emperors, faces Whitebeard almost as an equal, and we know his Haki is very, very strong. But no Devil Fruit.
Other characters? Dracule Mihawk, the world’s strongest swordsman, no Devil Fruit, just his Haki, and of course, innate talent and discipline. Silvers Rayleigh, the first mate of Roger’s crew, a literal master in Haki control. Then we have Kozuki Oden, Benn Beckman (quite a few first mates, huh?).
In Luffy’s own crew, we have formidable characters like Zoro, who have never used anything other than their own strength and Haki. And without necessarily looking among the pirates, we find examples of extremely feared men who, with the sole power of Haki, rivaled the Pirate King himself, like Monkey D. Garp.
In short, Oda-san has said it in every way possible: you don’t need Devil Fruits to achieve great goals.
But why have ambitious people like Roger or Garp never exploited one of those fruits? Why did they never want that kind of power? It shouldn’t have been difficult for men with their knowledge and means to obtain one.
One could hypothesize anything, but knowing One Piece, and knowing the stubbornness of certain characters, I’ve honestly come to a simple yet banal answer: pride.
Are you kidding? Relying on such tricks? Imagine the scene: Roger has a Devil Fruit in front of him, all ready for him. “With this, you’ll become incredibly strong! You won’t have any rivals, and your journey will be much easier.” Roger would have had a big laugh and told anyone who proposed such a thing to go to hell. “I don’t need and don’t want my journey to be easy, bring on the strongest enemies, put me in front of the most incredible challenges: I will overcome them with my own strength and my crew, I need nothing else.”
Men of another time. A bit arrogant perhaps, but certainly true to themselves. Because that was THEIR life, that was THEIR journey, that was THEIR test.
And Luffy, I believe, will be put to the test. And Oda-san is preparing us for that moment, leaving us, as always, small, tiny clues here and there.
Teach, better known as Blackbeard, has discovered a way to steal and obtain the power of Devil Fruits, and to use more than one at the same time.
Teach and Luffy will clash sooner or later, I know it, you know it. It’s just a matter of when. According to my theory, one way or another, Teach will manage to overpower and steal the power of the Gum-Gum Fruit (or Hito-Hito Model Nika). And it will be at that moment, in that instant, that we will discover who is truly worthy.
Borrowing the infamous quote from Geto Suguru (from the now equally famous Jujutsu Kaisen), which I think fits perfectly in this situation: “Is Luffy the strongest because of the Gum-Gum fruit, or is the Gum-Gum fruit strong because of Luffy?”
There always comes a moment when you have to prove yourself, the moment when the truth comes out: who are we? What makes us who we are?
We might already have a possible answer. As Kaido said: “Only Haki can triumph all else!”
In short: Luffy’s Haki, his Ambition, will overshadow Teach’s, and this will allow him to win. But I don’t think it stops there. There is something deeper, something more true and tangible that Luffy has, and that Teach will never have. An unstoppable, faithful, infallible force.
Unlike the Gum-Gum Fruit, which was a strange and unexpected twist of fate, there is one thing that Luffy has sought, longed for, and cultivated with care and a lot, a lot of love.
“I don’t know how to use swords! I don’t know how to sail the oceans. I can’t cook, I can’t lie either! But
I can defeat you!”
Luffy is nothing without his crew, and the crew is nothing without Luffy. Devil Fruit or no Devil Fruit. That is one truth we can be certain of. And they’re never afraid to ask for help from each other; they’re each other’s strength.
And with his crew, with his family by his side, Luffy will always have the Ambition (Haki) to win, to be the strongest. He doesn’t need anything else.
Teach has none of this, and we saw it clearly during his fight with Trafalgar Law, where Teach’s crew sniper, Van Augur, to avoid Bepo’s attack, didn’t hesitate to dodge, letting his captain take the full hit instead.
Such a thing would be unimaginable among the Straw Hats. Teach’s arrogance and greed will be his downfall. And his fear will be his grave.
Because as Luffy said to Crocodile: “If you die, you die!”
Teach’s stolen Devil Fruit powers will become dead weight, while Luffy, free as he is and always will be, will still have everything that made him strong. And it certainly won’t be the lack of a trick like the Gum-Gum Fruit that will stop Luffy from winning.
And it will be then that he will have passed the test, it will be then that he will truly become worthy. Of what? We’ll see.
And don’t forget, it was Oda-san who said it: “A Devil Fruit power will never conquer the world!”
But we know, Luffy doesn’t want to rule anything, he just wants to be free.

They sometimes hang out when they BOTH have nothing to do or no plans at all and one of them want to do something. Brock just pities how pathetic Rusty is because of his rizz. 😭
I like the idea of Rusty having only a unrequited crush on Brock, but he doesn’t feel the same way for him and only sees him as a friend/coworker because he wants to be professional with his job as a bodyguard but they do care about each other that passes as more than friends have a mutual respect for each other. Making them queerplatonic deal with it.
