𦹠swim team captain!anton x fem!reader | fluff | college au 𦹠note ; ahhh tysm!! this is so cute⦠this is also perhaps the longest fic i've ever written so enjoy!! + reqs are opennn
If you had to swim another lap, you think you were going to pass out.
âOkay, no more,â you gasped to your best friend, Sungchan, as you clambered out of the pool. â50 laps are too much.â
Sungchan frowns in response, looming over your panting figure with his hands planted on his hips. âIf you keep giving up like this, youâre not gonna win the competition yâknow.â he tuts. âYou still need to work on your form too.â
You groaned, rolling over to get up from the hard tiled floor.
âI kinda donât care âChan.â you sighed, picking up a towel to dry off.
Your best friend scoffs, whacking you lightly on your exposed shoulder. âDonât care?â he echoed. âYour scholarship is at risk here. Itâs either you win the competition or enslave yourself to years of student loan debt.â he continues dramatically.
You grit your teeth at his comment, knowing that heâs unfortunately right.
Opening your mouth to attempt a witty retort, youâre interrupted by Sungchanâs sudden shout.
âAnton! Anton, over here!â he shrieks.
Anton?
He was known all over campus as the collegeâs swim teamâs captain.
As the proud owner of countless medals, trophies, and certificates, swimming competitions werenât the only things Anton won.
His signature shy smile was something girls talked about almost every day, giggling and swooning whenever he strode past lecture rooms effortlessly cool.
Not just that, he was well-known amongst teachers for his A* grades and respectful demeanor.
âAnton, meet Y/N. Y/N, meet Anton.â Sungchan chirps, tugging the popular boy towards the both of you.
âNice to meet you.â he says softly, respectfully sticking his hand out for a shake.
âHi.â you greet back flatly, too tired to really care at the moment.
âSo,â Sungchan starts, throwing an arm around Antonâs shoulders. âIâm sure you know about the swimming scholarship event thatâs being held next month, right? The one thatâs going to be held here.â
Anton nods, his eyes sparkling with curiosity and confusion.
âYeah, why?â
Sungchan chuckles at this, now throwing his other arm around you. âWell, my friend Y/N here needs that scholarship. But sheâs also not the best at swimming. So I was wondering if you could help her out.â he says nonchalantly.
Youâre flabbergasted, staring morbidly at Sungchan.
âUm, sure.â Anton replies, smiling. âI donât mind.â
âWait, no I didnât agree to this I donât really need help on my swimm-â
âOkay, fantastic! Iâll see the both of you here every day after classes. Bye!â Sungchan cheers, cutting off your rambling. You donât even get the chance to say goodbye to Anton as Sungchan pulls you away with him to the locker rooms.
âBro, what was that all about?â you sputter in disbelief. âIâm already bad at swimming, I canât ask someone that talented to waste their time trying to help me!â
Sungchan mimics you talking, picking up your duffel bag and throwing it at you.
âHe already agreed, so donât worry. Now go and shower and change, and we can talk about it over tacos. Iâm starving.â he complains, sassily walking out of the locker room.
You groan, resting your forehead against the wall.
What did your best friend just get you into?
Staying true to his word, Anton would show up at the swimming arena every day after classes.
Today was no different as the two of you treaded through the pool.
"You need to remember to keep your legs together and straight when you kick, or else you'll mess up your form really quickly." Anton says, using his fingers to visualize it for you.
"Alright, go ahead and try it again. I'll be right behind you to check your form." he assures.
You nod, taking a deep breath.
With a few seconds to prepare yourself, you push yourself off the wall of the pool and start swimming.
All the noise of the swimming arena drowns out as it becomes just you and the water. You try to keep Anton's words in mind as you swim your way through, your legs propelling you through the crystal clear water.
"How was that?" you ask, catching your breath when you resurface at the end of the pool.
Anton runs a hand through his wet hair, shaking his head. "There's improvement, but you still need to straighten them more. You can't swim as fast as I know you can if you don't." he sighs.
Maybe it was because you were more tired today, but his words pierced a bit at your heart. Tears fill in your eyes as a sense of hopelessness and exasperation pounds at your heart.
"I'm trying," you mumble, sniffling. "I just can't do it."
Anton's pretty eyes widen when he hears your sniffle, quick to move closer to you. "Are you crying?" he asks, concerned.
"No, I'm laughing." you snap sarcastically, turning away from him to hide your tears.
"Hey," he calls softly, turning you to face him. "It's fine. We still have time to improve. And practice makes perfect! I'm sure you'll get it by the time of the competition."
"But what if I don't?" you ask weakly.
Anton shushes you immediately. "Y/N, you got this. The first step to winning is to believe in yourself. Maybe you don't believe in yourself, but I do. I know you got this."
Your heart melts when you look up to see how sincere he's looking at you, eyes full of genuine care and concern.
"Thank you." you mumble, wiping your tears away.
Anton grins, hugging you. "Don't give up. I know you can win this." he says, rubbing your shoulder.
You smile at his words, nodding. "You sound like those... motivational life coaches." you joke.
Anton chuckles, rolling his eyes. "You're welcome then."
"Hey, keep swimming!" Sungchan hollers from the chairs, looking like an upper-class mom with sunglasses perched on his nose and his arms folded. "The competition is in a week!"
Both you and Anton burst out laughing at this, the curly haired boy treading backwards away from you.
"Okay, another lap! Remember, keep your legs straight and believe in yourself!" he calls.
You flash him a thumbs up, taking deep breaths.
And with that, you dive right back into the water.
Embraced by the peace of the water, you can't help but think about how much closer you became with Anton over the past few weeks.
From shy 'good jobs!' to dinners together after practices, he was truly as nice as people said he was.
You're pulled out of your thoughts when the dark blue wall of the swimming pool comes into view, signalling the end of your lap. Resurfacing, you pull yourself out of the pool.
"So? How was that?"
This time around, Anton looks at you with a stunned face.
"What?" you asked, laughing awkwardly.
"Did you just become The Flash or something?" he questions, dumbfounded. "You swam so fast! And your legs were totally straight the entire time! You did it!" he squeals excitedly.
For a moment, you suspect Anton's lying, but Sungchan running over to you while cheering assures you that he's not.
"Only two minutes! That's almost college record timing!" he screams in disbelief, squeezing you in a hug.
You'd hug Sungchan back, but he pulls away, disgusted. "Oh ew, chlorine water on my t-shirt!" he whines.
You giggle at this, turning back to face Anton.
He's laughing too, and your heart skips a beat at the sight. His bright eyes curved into crescents, a soft glow on his pink cheeks while water dripped off his slicked back hair.
"Do it again!" Sungchan urges you. "If you get two minutes again, I'll treat you to sushi, promise."
You raise an eyebrow, eyeing him suspiciously. "You better keep your promise." you threaten.
"Because she'll definitely get two minutes again." Anton adds on, his hand stretched out for you to get back into the pool.
God, he was so sweet.
Taking his hand, a wave of newfound determination and hope washes over you.
You got this.
Game day came sooner than you could imagine.
"Come on," Sungchan screeches, excitedly waving around a sign that had your name printed on it. "Swim faster!"
Anton sat beside him, nervously biting his lip as he watched you glide across the swimming pool.
The girl beside you was going slightly faster, threading through the water with perfect form.
Time was closing in fast, and if you managed to swim faster than her by around two seconds, the scholarship would be yours immediately.
The crowd roared in nervous excitement as you caught up to her, now only a mere ten meters away from the endpoint.
Down in the water, your mind raced with thoughts about Anton. He worked so hard to help you; you couldn't let him down now.
So with one more kick and a surge of adrenaline, you pushed forward and swam faster - hitting the end of the pool almost immediately.
Screams and cheers flood your ears the moment you resurface, and when you see no one out of the pool yet, you let out your own scream of joy.
You won; the scholarship was all yours.
You've barely gotten out of the pool when college officials rush up to you, congratulating you and wrapping a towel around you.
"We have a winner!" you hear the emcee announce. "Ladies and gentlemen, the winner of the annual swimming scholarship! Contestant two!"
The crowd cheers for you, and you see Anton cheering along amongst the crowd, happily jumping up and down.
"I knew you could do it!" He mouths to you, beaming.
A warm and unfamiliar feeling settles in your heart as you smile back, waving.
"Coming through! Make way for the winner!" Sungchan announces loudly, shoving his way through the crowd. You and Anton follow after him, giggling.
Sunlight hugs your body the moment you step out of the swimming arena, but it doesn't feel as warm as Anton's arm that was around your shoulders.
"I'm so happy for you!" he gushes, excitedly skipping his way to Sungchan's car. "It's all thanks to you, honestly." you laugh, slightly embarrassed.
Anton clicks his tongue, waving his finger 'no' at you.
"You believed in yourself," he says. "That's why you could win. And you took the initiative to try to win, so you should thank yourself, really."
"Hey, where's my thank you?" Sungchan scoffed as all of you got into his car.
"Thank you." you laugh, buckling up.
"But seriously," Anton says, slipping his hand into yours. "You need to thank yourself. I'm glad I got to teach you."
Your cheeks warm at his words, and you grin as you squeeze his hand.
"And I'm glad I got to meet you."

The View Between Villages
Summary: Steve Harrington offers to be your ghostly tour guide after your mysterious, unexpected death.
AN: Hiiiii, if youâve been wondering where Iâve been then, first of all thank you for thinking of me, and secondly, I have been sick with bronchitis for weeks. Tbh I never understood in Regency novels where they would make such a huge deal about someone being sick until now. That shit took me out. Anyway, in my convalescence I watch the show, School Spirits and I couldnât help but see the similarities between Wally and Steveâboth men of the 80s, hot labrador retriever jocks with a compulsive need for parental approval? So, thatâs how this lil piece was born. I would love to continue writing in this universe so please, if you have any requests, send them in! In the meantime, I am hard at work on This Could Get Ugly and a lovely lil Eddie number inspired by another Noah Kahan song.
Warnings: School Spirit!AU, Major Character Death, talks about own death, brief mention of violence and death, angst, this is sad! Ghost!Steve and Ghost?Reader
Pairing: Steve Harrington x f!reader
WC: 2K
Itâs Steve Harrington who first declares you dead. Admittedly it takes you an embarrassingly long time to realize, it wasnât like they sent out notices for these types of things either, as convenient as a note wouldâve been:
To Whom it May Concern:
We regret to inform you that on February 12 of this year, you will unfortunately perish under unclear circumstances in the city of Chicago, Illinois at Northwestern University. Please make sure to get your affairs in order before the set date.
No, none of that, instead you had attended three whole lectures before noticing that no one was acknowledging youânot your professors when you raised your hand; not your classmates when you asked if they could loan you a pencil; not even your best friend when you ran into him in the hall. You thought it couldâve been a weird prank. Then the news began to spread, you were missing. Reported by your roommate after not having come home from a late-night study session at the library. And then they found traces of blood in the boiler room of the libraryâs basement.
Still, you thought to yourself, maybe you were having a really long terrible dream. Or maybe you were in a coma. Or doing one of those VR headset things. Or maybe you were dead and cursed to spend the rest of eternity haunting the very campus where you died.
Your friends were never the gym type, which is why you end up at the schoolâs pool in an effort to avoid the pain and desperation you feel every time you see their tired but still-hopeful faces.
Thatâs where you see him. Or, more importantly, where he sees you. You first spot him sitting at the edge of the pool, observing the ongoing swim team practice and are immediately struck.
Sure, you may be stuck in some weird reality where you may or may not be dead but you can still appreciate a hot person. Especially one as handsome as Pool Guy whoâs striped swim trunks sit low on his hips and he has a smattering of dark hair trailing from his belly button almost up to the base of his neck. Thick, chestnut-colored hair swoops in his handsome face in golden-touched waves and gracefully frame a pair of honey-hued eyes. Of course you were going to stare.
Youâre sure you stare for an indecent amount of time, but it wasnât like that mattered, you remind yourself, youâre invisible to him like you are to everyone else.
Except youâre not invisible to him because Pool Guy was making eye contact and worse, he was waving, solidifying the fact that he is very aware of your presence. He can see you.
âHi, you must be new here. Iâm Steve Harrington, class of â86,â he introduces himself, with way too much verve once he swims over to where youâre still frozen in place.
âYou can see me?â You ask, once you find your voice, âHow can you see me?â
You reach out to grasp his offered hand and to your shock, your fingers donât go straight through his, like it would with anyone elseâs. Instead youâre enveloped in the warm solid grasp of his hand.
He cracks a smile at this, âbecause Iâm dead too. Which, I totally get youâre probably wondering how someone this good-looking couldâve died so young but i willââ
âDead?â you squeak out.
âSorry,â he says with an awkward grimace, âI know not everyone likes that term, um, how do you identifyâ?â
You cut him off once again, âI didnât know I was dead.â
Itâs his turn to be confused.
âReally? Most people are really quick about putting it together. When they see their body the memories all come back. I mean even I put it together and I was never the smartest even before the accidentâoh, shit. Youâre the missing girl. The one from all the flyers.â
Clearly heâs referencing the myriad HAVE YOU SEEN ME? flyers with your face on them that paint the campus. Up until now, you had been categorically missing not dead, and now that someone has spoken your fate out loud, youâre certain it is all but sealed.
âListen, I am so sorry. Let me go get someone whoâs way better at this than Iââ you cut off his apologetic rambling,
âI need to leave right now.â
Before he can say anything else youâre running in the opposite direction as quickly as you can.
You donât go back to the pool after that.
Being dead wasnât so bad. Sure, you had spent a solid five weeks distraught over the loss of the life you had once lived and mourning everything you will never get to do. And yeah, it was a uniquely painful type of loneliness getting to see all your friends and never getting to interact with them, especially during those first few weeks when your disappearance was hot on everyoneâs lips and heavy in the hearts of your friends. But outside of all that, being dead was okay. At least, you didnât have to submit any more papers or do laundry.
After your encounter with Steve Harrington, class of â86, you decide to hole up in the library. You desperately convince yourself that if you search the shelves enough youâll be able to find something in one of the many books that talk about the afterlife that might provide you some clarity about your newfound ghostly status. Surely thereâd have to be something helpful. Anything. A ghost manual, perhaps or some graduate research paper about being stuck in between realms. Youâd easily settle for a Chicken Soup for the Ghostly Soul.
Or you think traitorously to yourself, a tour guide to the afterlife, someone who has experience with being dead and a great set of abs. Every time youâre close to convincing yourself to go back to the pool, the embarrassment of your mortifying first encounter pulls you back. No way you were going to see him again. Just because you were dead didnât mean youâd lost all your dignity.
Your internal back-and-forth ends up not mattering because he ends up coming to you.
You spot his well-coifed head maneuvering through the tall shelves from where youâve holed yourself up on the fourth floor mezzanine and watch as he weaves through the unassuming crowd, completely unnoticed, just like you.
Heâs wearing clothes this time, which both disappointing and surprising since you havenât quite figured out the mechanics or social expectations of how often ghosts should be changing clothes. In a pair of snug-fitted jeans with a Northwestern Athletics sweatshirt and a pair of high top Nikes, he takes the winding steps up to your unofficial perch two at a time . If this is what he looks like some 40 years dead, you canât imagine what he looked like when he had a pulse, it must have been like staring into the sun.
âHi,â he offers tentatively when he approaches, like heâs sure youâll run off spooked.
âHi.â
âSorry to bother you, itâs just, well, my friend Robin told me she saw you here and I wanted to come by and apologize for what happened. At the pool. I truly had no idea, sometimes I just say things without thinking, which I am working on, trust me.â
You smile, appreciative but defeated, part of you was hoping he was coming up here to tell you that there had been some sort of mistake.
âItâs okay, itâs not your fault, it was just a bit of shock, is all. I guess Iâm still adjusting to this whole being dead thing,â you joke weakly.
âYeah, about that, if you ever need help adjusting or learning the ropes or anything like that, Iâwe are always happy to help. Thereâs a few of us that band together and weâd love to have you. Truly,â he claws nervously at the back of his head as he makes his offer the tip of his sneaker digging into the worn library carpet.
âThanks,â you say, genuinely, âI really appreciate that.â
He looks at you now, finally, and his gaze is golden, warm honey and itâs like a shot to the chest. Like youâve promised him the moon. A hand is extended towards just slightly, a twitch, and you realize heâs expecting you to take it.
âI canât right now, though,â you say, lamely and you watch his smile waver. Quickly you add, âI need some time, I think, before it becomes permanent. If I go with you, Iâm dead. Alone up here, Iâm still just missing. Does thatâŚmake sense?â
He nods, furiously, âIt makes total sense. You can come find me by the pool whenever youâre ready. I will be there.â
He makes a move to leave and you register the paper in his hand for the first time. Itâs a flyer with your face on it, different than all the ones before.
âWait, what is that?â You ask, fingers skimming the plush of his sweatshirt to get his attention.
âOh, um,â he swallows thickly, âtheyâre having a vigil for you tonight, I wasnât sure if youâd seen or if you were going, but if you were going, I was going to see if you wanted some company. â
His voice is small now and the regret is etched thickly on his face.
Fingers shaking, you extend a hand out for the flyer. Steve sighs but gently places it in your trembling grasp nonetheless.
Itâs true, what he said about the vigil, you had no clue. Youâre not sure how long you spend staring at your own face, long enough for the words to stop making sense, but not long enough for them to stop meaning anything.
Steve stays the entire time and when you sink to the floor, tear tracks heavy on your cheeks, he sinks with you. You cry, and he stays.
âI canât go,â you admit, and then, in the same breath, plea, âHow can I go?â
Next to you, Steve lets out a shuttering sigh.
âWhen I died, they did something similar, my parents came down from Indy and everything. I couldnât bring myself to go either. But shit, maybe if I did, I wouldâve gotten what I needed to move on from here. Closure or whatever. Or maybe not, who knows? But I will never know and I would hate for you to never know.â
Itâs still too hard to go you decide, but you canât pretend itâs not happening. Instead, the two of you sit on the roof of the library, feet dangling over the ledge watch a river of candlelight flowing through the center of campus. You can hear, faintly, as your friends make speeches talking about how kind you were, how good, how funny and undeserving until their voices fail from holding back tears.
You cry the whole time, but you donât regret it.
The two of you stay sitting there far past the end, Steveâs arms wrapped around you, holding the pieces of you together.
After, when youâve had enough of it all and the last candle has gone out, you turn to Steve and say, âthank you, that did make me feel better. You were right.â
He chuckles wryly.
âI donât hear that Iâm right very often,â he admits before cracking another smile, âbut I could get used to hearing it, especially from you. Now, what do you say about getting some ice cream? No offense, but that thing was a total downer.â
You laugh, genuinely, not only at his joke, but the absurdity of it all before playfully shoving his shoulder. In response, Steve pretends to lose his balance and almost fall of the ledge and you both know itâs silly but it makes you smile so itâs worth it.
Dying is probably the worst thing that has ever happened to you, but at least you are not alone.

Here is my 6k word Umbrella Academy analysis on Season 1 Episode 1 "We Only See Each Other At Weddings And Funerals"
Hope you enjoy!
(Disclaimer: Spoilers for Season 1, 2 and 3. Some points will come off as a bit judgemental towards certain characters, but I truly like all of the siblings, this is simply my observation. You may not agree with everything, these are just my interpretations)
Episode 1: We Only See Each Other At Weddings And Funerals:
It is really sweet how the other women at the swimming pool are comforting Tatiana while and after she gave birth, bringing towels, petting her hair, holding her hand
It has been pointed out many times but I still love the foreshadowing to Viktorâs powers when Reginald is about to purchase him
I never thought about it but Viktor really practiced alone in the Theatre here. Wonder why. The lights were still on so maybe he just saw it as a good opportunity
Reginald dies late at night, Lutherâs clock shows 23:28
When I watched this the first time, I immediately picked up on Luther's body hair growth, like with the wound, how heâs trying to cover it and later when heâs alone so I thought in retrospective that the trash bags are partially filled with hair
The weatherman says âlittle bit of rain potentially later in the weekâ and it does rain at Reginaldâs funeral, which is only a few days after this! (As he dies on 21st March but Five comes back right before the funeral on 24th March) Great detail!
Diego really just snapped that guys neck
Allison's press photo shoot is apparently for Love on Loan 3, with the logo on the wall!
Allison never covers her umbrella tattoo, it is really visible
Allison looking really forced happy, right before a journalist says âOh! Youâre perfect!â
The poster âRecovery is not short and sweet, it is a lifelong processâ
Klaus introduction scene and he already wears his headphones
He is immediately established as charming, people are laughing at his jokes, another off-screen person says goodbye to him. He seems well liked
No matter how many times I watch it I get said when the receptionist says âWeâll see you soon, Klausâ
Klaus-kisses-something count: 1. Object in question: the 30 day coin
Luther's chair on the moon, where the light hits the surface and making it look beautiful. Great hint at a later scene where Allison asks him about the moon!
Diego has no idea what normal is for a family. He throws the robbers against family photos, real family photos, not the annual paintings of the Academy. He throws knives, picks them up and theyâre covered in blood. No clue that he looks just like the robbers, how is this family supposed to feel safe?
The transition from Allison leaving the press and looking over her shoulder to look at them one last time to Klaus looking over his shoulder as a police car with siren drives past as he makes his way to a dealer
Klaus-kisses-something count: 2. Object in question: drugs
Viktor looking at the news as Reginaldâs death is pronounced. He says âDadâ and the photo on the news showing Reginald shows one of the Umbrella Academy group pictures after their Eiffel Tower mission. Watching that hurt, my heart aches for Viktor here
After the Eiffel Tower picture it shows another Academy picture, but this time with only five kids, hinting at Fiveâs disappearance
Reginald having lizard taxidermies and skulls
I never could quite make sense of the Academy emblem. An umbrella, a lighting bolt, a skull and a domino mask. And the motto is âUt Malum Pluviaâ, apparently translating to âWhen Evil rainsâ?
Shot to the sleep observation notebook. During my first watch, I didn't pick up that the numbers were representing the children, I assumed it were experiment numbers. I don't know what he wrote about Allison, but Klausâs says âno activity for tonightâ. So yay, probably means good sleep for him. Iâm sure that line either hints at nightmares, OR, more likely, ghosts, that Klaus sees/hears in his dreams, which we get to see in later scenes. Benâs says âseems to be crying in sleepâ which is just so sad, I want to hug him. And Viktorâs says âactivity!!!â can't really make out the rest, but there are other posts transcripting the pages, but hereâs another clue that Viktor has powers.
The Academy paintings. On the first one, they look a bit uncomfortable, but mostly okay. In the next, when Five is gone, they look so much more tense. In the next one it shows they hate this and they don't want to be here. They look really strained and depressed and angry at the last painting when Ben died
Diego comes out of the room where Grace is sitting, great hint for when it is revealed that he found the monocle on her
Allison didn't seem to be sure that Viktor would come âYouâre actually hereâ. It is sweet how she welcomes him and says âforget about himâ when Diego tells him âWhat are you doing here? You don't belong here, not after what you did.â
So far, Diego and Allison know that Viktor is there
Viktor says âHey, Allisonâ while Allison says âHey, sisâ. Sis, our first nickname in this family
Allison can sure shoot one back, quite snarky and can be quite defensive of others, but in a good way. Shows by criticizing Diegoâs outfit/leather harness underhandedly
Viktor really seems to be about to leave after Diegoâs comment :( Good that Allison reassured him
So now Diego knows that Allison is there, Viktor and now Luther as well. âWhat's your secret? Protein shakes? Low carbs?â Diego seems well knowledged in health and fitness, later eating a raw egg and criticizing Klaus for using drugs âMy body is a templeâ. That's surely one way to cope. That is in complete contrast to what they did as children, with Five pointing out they used to snuck out to Griddyâs and Klaus saying they used to huff paint in the basement in season 3. That fact about Diego already shows here with this simple comment
Diego was the first to know Luther was there (beside Pogo, as Luther talked to him already and was told the monocle was missing. Already hinting that Pogo was involved in Reginaldâs whole plan). And of course the first room Luther would go to was Reginaldâs bedroom. But then again, it was Diegoâs first goal too, with him already having checked it out
Diego pulling away the coronerâs report right as Luther was about to grab it because Diego was holding it out to him. Classic sibling behavior. From this moment I knew that any comment about âTheyâre not really a family, theyâre strangersâ is a blatant lie
Diego broke into the coronerâs office before this. He IS shocked that it is just heart failure but he accepted it. Luther, not so much
Diego says this about Reginald: âA sad old man in a big empty house, just like he deserved.â Now he is the one being told by Luther to leave.
Diego says to Luther âWhatever you say, brother.â Brother being so more distanced than sis
Reginald really had everything. Comics up top, a bit below that, a newspaper article but also a framed teen magazine cover
Viktor meets Pogo up next and they hug. Viktor got two hugs in one day, the other being from Allison
Grace calls Reginald âsirâ in the flashback
In the flashback, Allison stands perfectly straight in the middle, in the left front we have Ben who is straightening his shirt and halfway already in the office. On the right front we have Klaus who is crossing his arms and leaning against the doorframe. In the left back we have Luther, who stands behind his siblings and in the exact same spot as in all the Academy paintings. Next to him is Diego, who has to stretch himself a bit to be able to look past Allison and at Reginald. In the left back is Five and behind him Viktor. When they are urged to leave, Viktor immediately makes his way back, Diego and Klaus follow suit and walk next to each other, next it Five and Luther puts his hand on Benâs shoulder as they walk back. Allison has to be urged by Grace. She wants attention and it becomes apparent why she would become a movie star
Klaus meets Allison first, sheâs the first to know heâs there, in Reginaldâs office
Klaus really hasn't seen Allison in a long time it seems, but Allison is really happy to see him as she smiles at his antics. I really believe that Klaus is the âmascotâ when it comes to dysfunctional family dynamics and for Allison, it really worked. For those that don't know what the mascot is: âThis is the child who learns very early that laughter reduces tension and eases stress, and she or he responds to discord in the family by trying to lighten the mood through humor.â
Klaus immediately goes for the hug. Now Allison got two hugs too! The first she gave Viktor, the second she got from Klaus
Klaus really can lie quickly. He wasn't prepared to meet her there, it didn't sound like he had anything planned when he said that he wanted to meet her anyway, but that âI wanted to get your autographâ really came so quickly after that short pause. He could pawn it and says it in a flattering way.
He is so quick to divert from a question. Instead of answering Allison's question about what heâs doing, he goes for the âoh, we haven't seen each other in so long!â
But Allison points out the rehab wristband. She notices shit
Allison really seems concerned when Klaus says âIâm done with all thatâ, context being rehab
Klaus saying he only came here to convince himself that their dad is dead and Allison giving him a âreally?â look. She didn't believe it for a second
When Klaus clasps âAnd he is! Heâs dead! Yeees!â Allison shakes her head and grins. That was the moment she thought âYep, he hasn't changed one bit, alright. Klaus is still Klaus.â
Klaus really changes in tone fast, from being cheerful and making jokes about Reginaldâs death to angry about how they wouldn't be allowed to be in that room if heâd still be alive
Klaus puts his feet in the desk
Reginald has a photo of himself framed on a shelf, not just the painting behind him
âGet out of his chairâ are the first words Luther tells Klaus after seeing each other again. Klaus has meet two people, Allison and Luther and Luther met Pogo, Diego and now Allison and Klaus in Reginaldâs office
Interesting that Klaus wants to leave when Luther enters the room.
âSave the lectureâ Oh, Klaus is so used to getting lectured
âYou guys can talk amongst yourselves * chuckles softly*â He is so hinting at their teenage romance with each other
Luther knows Klaus took something, he isn't fooled by Klaus playing dumb
And Klaus looks around again if anyone is there before he pulls out the box. Don't let appearances fool you, he knows how to stay secretive
Klaus-kisses-something count: 3. Object in question: pearl-inlaid box
Luther is the one to say âKlaus is still Klausâ and Allison is the one to say she finds it comforting. Her life has changed so much, she has started to see that her actions have consequences and to see that some things from the past haven't changed? Yes, I can see her seeing it as a source of comfort. Luther does not give a response, instead redirecting to Diego. So he seems to be less comforted by Klausâs lack of change
The bit about Diego wearing the leather harness in the shower will never not be funny
Luther AND Allison weren't sure if sheâd come to the funeral. She really distanced herself from her past, huh
Luther says shit when Allison tells him that Patrick got custody. He knows how much Claire meant to Allison. Also, Luther swears. I see you, âLuther saying âLanguage!ââ writers, but itâs not canon
Luther is quick to suggest Allison should use her power, but he is apprehensive at saying it out loud, indicating that he does know that it is not exactly good
Family meeting! Luther sits on the left couch, Diego on the left armchair, Allison on the right armchair and Viktor on the right couch. Luther seems the most comfortable, as if this were truly his home, Diego sits rather relaxed too, Allison sits straight, hands folded in her lap, Viktor wants to be comfortable but body language indicates that he isn't, he makes himself look really small
Allison has a drink
âNone of you ever did that?â When Luther tells that he used to sit with Reginald by the oak tree. Diego looks away, probably thinking âClassic Lutherâ. At first I thought that Diego thinks that Luther is the favorite, but then I remembered that Diego later tells Luther he SHOULD be angry at Reginald for what he did to Luther, so I think he realizes âSo he still thinks Reginald is good and doesn't realize how messed up it all was.â Also, Klaus immediately chimes in âWill there be any refreshments?â Before any of his siblings could answer that âNone of you ever did that?â Question, which would just stir up all sorts of emotions. Robert Sheehan said in an interview once that Klaus is rather conflict avoidant and it shows. And again, another point towards him being the âmascotâ
So Klaus has a drink, a cigarette and also a trophy?
Luther only points out the smoking, not the drinking. Because âDad didn't allow smoking in hereâ. When did he establish that rule? I so want to know the history behind it
Allison seems to be so much more at ease after Klausâs interruption
Diego knew Luther would still believe that it was murder. Viktor does speak up, using logic that the coroner would know. Allison also finds Lutherâs suggestion ludicrous, she sees in that moment how Luther can't live without a mission anymore
âQuelle surpriseâ Klaus is the most likely out of all of them to use non-English words. French, German, Spanish is what I remember on the spot, I'll look out if he speaks any other languages
Also, Reginald communicated with Luther while on the moon
âLook, I know you don't like to do it but I need you to talk to Dadâ. Everyone was aware that Klaus does not like using his power. Klaus even looks shocked at the suggestion, his expression saying âMe?â. Allison scoffs as if she knew âYeah, not going to happenâ or couldn't believe that Luther would bring it up, especially in the context that she thinks that Luther is out of his mind with suggesting it was murder
Resentment slips through when Klaus says âHey did could you stop playing tennis with Hitler for a while and take a quick callâ
Luther doesn't even think about the possibility that Klaus wouldn't be able to do it. âThat's his thingâ. Luther does NOT know why Klaus started using drugs, for which weâll get even more evidence for in episode 7 when he says he wants to be Number Four because he seems so carefree. Also Diego looks away when Luther says it, maybe because Luther still puts so much focus on their powers, just like Reginald
Everyone except Diego is so shocked and surprised when itâs revealed that Luther thinks one of them killed Reginald. There was definitely some baseline trust in each other
âWay to leadâ Diego rubbing salt into the wound because he knows Luther thinks himself the leader of the group. It definitely strikes Luther, so it worked
All of them work out without another word, except Klaus who tells Luther heâs crazy. Even Allison, whose glass is now empty
Flashback to 17 years ago. They were 12 here and itâs 2002. Five disappeared about 16 years and 5 months ago, so he was only in the public for about 7 months
News Reporter is Jim Hellerman from the news station Channel 2 News
A S.W.A.T team is already at the bank robbery
Bank is Capital West bank at Main at Sixth
The Umbrella Academy only made their entrance at this bank robbery roughly three hours after it started
I love this scene so much. Allison so confidently walking up to the robber, Luther running on the roof and people believing itâs law enforcement, jumping in through a window from the ceiling, immediately hitting a guy and throwing him out of the bank through another window. That's a lot of windows theyâre destroying. Diegoâs knives land straight in that guy's chest
What did Jim Hellerman do to have been in many hostage situations? Is The City just like that? Is it like Gotham, where crime is just that rapant?
The robber from the beginning is standing on top of the counter, pointing his gun at the kids and calling them freaks. Diego, Allison AND Klaus are standing in front of him. I have never noticed that Klaus was standing there too before this rewatch. Luther is standing by the hostages in front of the vault.
The kids are trolling that guy. Diego saying âBe careful up there, buddyâ Allison responding âWouldn't want you to get hurt.â Five also has this humor with âThat's one badass stapler.â He is so youthful here
âDo we really have to do this?â Ben, I want to hug you. He does not want to do this. He first looks at Luther (remember when Luther was the one to guide him away from Reginaldâs office?) and then at Klaus.
â*Sighs* I didn't sign up for thisâ Did I say I want to give Ben a hug?
Five seems intrigued by Benâs⌠tentacle massacre and then looks at Klaus, maybe because of the possibility that new ghosts could appear?
â*Sighs* *breathes shakily* Can we go home now?â Voice trembling, covered in blood, I am calling CPS, nothing will stop me, I will enter this TV show just to pull Ben out of this
They come out and are already posing, they trained for this moment. Luther is holding a hand up, Diego is showing off a knife, Allison is standing straight, Klaus is leaning on Five, Five is als standing straight, hand behind his back. Ben is covered in blood and looking down
They were so sheltered and given so little free time, so little time to discover who they are, this bank robbery mission for which a S.W.A.T team was called and ended in Ben being covered in blood made Viktor say âWhy can't I go PLAY with the others?â
Reginald comes into the picture and Luther is again at his exact same position as always, at the top left.
Some other news stations: WURG, CNR, Channel 9 News
Interesting how they wear their scarves. Luther, Five and Ben all seemingly wear their scarves tucked into their coats, Allison wears hears pretty fashionable with one side hanging out to the front, Klausâs hangs off to the side on one end while the other falls off over his shoulder behind his back and Diego literally just put it around his shoulders, didn't even wrap it around his neck. No wonder that guy later refuses to use an umbrella during the funeral.
End of flashback, back to Klaus trying to conjure Reginald. Looks like he just took off his shoes. Klaus seems to focus so much on the point that they werenât related. Earlier with him that Reginald wasnât their real father so they couldn't inherit his cold dead eyes, now with â[...] my sons, adoptedt(!) sonsâ. It really makes sense that he wants to seek out his birth mother in season 3, he already puts a lot of focus on it in season 1.
âBig angry ghost lectureâ again with the lecture, Klaus is used to getting lectured.
"Eternal peace is probably overratedâ they kept that in season 3 when he talks with Rachel, his mom, in The Void. Klaus is so interesting, he has seemingly no long term goals, lives fully in the present moment, but is haunted by his past and also thinks the future is shit (as shown when Five reappears and tells them about the future âCalled it!â)
Klaus calls Reginald âReggieâ
Diego and Klaus think very similarly of Reginald. Diego uses âparanoidâ, âsad old manâ, âmonsterâ as words to describe him, Klaus says âstubborn bastardâ and âsadistic prickâ. No wonder they get along so well
Allison truly is a girlies girl, they recreated that early 2000s girls room PERFECTLY. That little thing to hang up jewelry, the bright colored nail polish, another container for other accessories, teen magazines, posters, kitchy notebooks and decor, those pencils that arenât even sharpened yet, the one with the thin plastic wrapping that gets everywhere once you do sharpen them and with the cutesy eraser on top which more destroys your paper and smears the writing all over it instead of erasing it. Huuuh, the 2000s
Klaus is now in the basement kitchen. This is where Leonard and Viktor will enter from at a later point (Iâm pointing this out because whenever I watched that scene I never knew how they were suddenly in the house, I assumed it was a shop because it didn't look like the house, now I know). There is a table football and a couch and an e-guitar, which Klaus will later hold right when Diego will announce that heâll leave
Klaus has another drink. And just took drugs, three to be precise. He seems to be not doing okay. âThree? Okayâ to which he laughs but right after taking them he seems very sunken
Diego is a knuckle cracker and fidgets with his knives
I think itâs really sweet how Luther wants to make them all feel connected and cheer them up after ruining the mood. Maybe he already realized here he was too harsh. He did turn up the volume to max, he knew what he was doing with putting on the vinyl here. And he is already feeling the music, moving his hands and head
Luther is a record enjoyer, Klaus is most often seen with his tape player (though he also has a record player in his room. I assume that tapes are just more mobile and he can listen to them anywhere).
This dance scene was what made me fall in love with the show
Diego closes the door before he pulls off his A+ performance.
Allison springs onto and off beds
Five begins to reappear, metal things get pulled away. Reginaldâs urn almost falls off the table before Klaus catches it. Klaus also says âDaddy?â Sure, we know that ghosts don't manifest like this. But Klaus has been trying to conjure Reginald, his abuser, so it is reasonable why heâd think that Reginald might appear after all, especially when he isn't fully sober and already not doing that good mentally
Luther is the first to put some scientific reasons on the big blue ball in the sky
Diego calls Luther âPaul Bunyanâ
When the electricity intensifies, Luther and Diego are quick to pull Klaus behind them. Luther says âEveryone get behind meâ, he clearly sees himself as their protector. Diego says âYeah, get behind usâ he sees himself also as their protector, he has some respect for Luther in the sense he looks up to him, wants to be equals rather than Number Two
âI vote for runningâ Klaus showing conflict-avoidance again. Or self-preservation instincts depending on the viewer
I like how Klaus is the one to say âDoes anyone else see little Number Five or is that just me?â With him already seeing things that no one else does. Also, Klaus uses Fiveâs full name, Number Five instead of just Five
Klaus is rubbing his show and mouth a lot. Could be a nervous tick or could be experiencing dry mouth from the drugs
Viktor and Five used to be close, Viktor being the one to give Five the date and Five remained rather calm when he just said the day when he asked for the exact date instead. He has a lot more patience for Viktor
Five did that a lot, walking towards someone only to blink with Luther saying âHaven't missed thatâ
Five has seen a lot. He says that the future is shit so resigned. He says he should have listened to âthe old manâ, putting the blame on himself
âThat makes no senseâ âIt would if you were smarterâ Diego immediately stands up, Luther immediately holds Diego back. He will later do this again when Diego is angry at Five when Patch was killed. Luther is all about preserving the peace between them, that's also why he put on the record
âNice to know Dad didn't forget meâ Five does not seem to see the harm Reginald has done to them but based on that line, I believe that in the apocalypse he thought often about how their dad would probably see him as a failure now, since he did what he was told not to do and couldn't even go back. All of them still call Reginald âDadâ
Iâm just imagining old Five saying âballsyâ
Viktor full on believes his whole family hates him
Five responds with that there could be worse things. Worse things being that theyâre all dead like what he had to go through, already implicating that he doesn't care what his family thinks of him and his actions just as long as theyâre safe
Klaus is smoking another cigarette
Pogo says âdear boyâ to Luther
Klaus grimaces when Luther pours out the ashes. Could be interpreted in a number of ways. âOh that wasn't great.â âThe old man will not like that.â to throw out a few
Diegoâs anger continues to brew as his face twists and and looks up away from Pogo when he asks who wants to speak. The words are already forming for him
Klaus is keeping his feelings about Reginald bottled up, going straight back to his cigarette
Diego begins to look over again when Pogo says â[Reginald] was my masterâ. Strengthening his feelings about how they weren't children to Reginald, how he saw himself as above everyone
Allison looks down and seems annoyed when Diego says âMy name is Number Twoâ in response to her calling him out. She probably thinks back to Benâs funeral, where he wasn't all that different. âClassic Diegoâ
Viktor also cares about Mom. When he first entered the Academy, he said âMom?â As soon as he saw her, here he says âNo, itâs okay, Momâ when she asks if theyâd like something to eat. He also thanks her in a later flashback when she compliments his music and is against shutting her down
Allison already notices that something is not right with Mom âIs Mom alright?â, Which explains why she would be pro powering her off
Diego really out here pulling the string cards with calling Luther âNumber Oneâ. Luther probably saw it as an offense towards him, but I think Diego said it more as to âLook, he didn't even gave us names! He gave us numbersâ
Luther does no go down to that level, still calling Diego âDiegoâ but he is the one to start the physical fight
Diego calls Luther âbig boyâ in the fight. Twice
This time, Klaus is all for the fight, chanting âHit him!â. He did laugh at Diegoâs proclamations about their father
Allison seems so disappointed and also resigned in those two when they destroyed Benâs statue in the âThey never know when to stopâ sense
This time, Viktor does not back down when Diego says âGot enough material for your sequel yet?â He does not let Diego get to him
Klaus really makes sure that everyone is gone before he says his words to Reginald.
Putting out your cigarette in your abusers ashes in the ultimate âFuck youâ move and nothing will ever top it
Reginaldâs quote in the flashback to one of their training days basically boils down to âYou are stronger together than on your own.â In the bank robbery flashback he says in response to if he cares about their well being âOf course. As I am for the fate of the world.â I think he knew that an apocalypse would happen but I don't believe he knew the cause. In a later flashback with Luther and Allison in the greenhouse, he isn't angry about them spending time together, heâs angry that they do it outside of their schedule
This is where Diegoâs fear of needles comes from, getting their tattoos
Klaus and Allison already got their tattoos, Diego is currently getting his done, so theyâre out of order. I thought maybe the last one got theirs first, the first one to make it to the top gets theirs last but Diego was right behind Five on the staircase race. But maybe Luther and Ben managed to overtake him?
I just think itâs really sweet how Klaus is holding Allison in his arms as sheâs sobbing while he is also still distressed and in pain from his own one. He cares
Diego doesn't even let himself be comforted by Mom
Luther also seems so agitated about being next, he tries to hide the fear but isn't successful
Ben tries to calm himself down but heâs pretty nervous and as is Five
None of them had any fun here
Reginald raises them by the rule âYou are stronger together than aloneâ. But completely excludes Viktor from all of this. Of course heâd feel isolated. But it also means he sees these terrible things happen to his siblings, like the bank robbery mission and tattoos, and sees it as a game, as a group activity that he is left out of. I do believe heâd take the pain if itâd meant heâd be one of them
It is so freaking creepy how Reginald will just sit on their beds while they sleep and put on the electrodes.
I first thought everyone had their own color for the cables, but some are clearly used twice. Luther has blue, Allison yellow, Viktorâs is white which is a great hint as his comic code name âThe White Violinâ, Klaus is black (shocking for the guy whose powers revolve around death), Five is red since itâs coming from the staircase leading up top but no idea which colors Ben and Diego are
Luther sleeps on his side, Allison sleeps half on her back, half on her side, Five sleeps on his stomach, Viktor sleeps on his back
I think this is the first time we see Viktor use the pills? Could have sworn it was earlier but I don't think so
Viktor takes his pills and goes back to his earlier mind set, when he did think Diego was right, he shouldn't have come
Viktor really cares about others. He cares about Mom, he tells Pogo to take care of himself, he later compliments Helen
âDad hated caffeineâ âHe hated children too and he had plenty of us *laughs* *immediately stops and grows serious*â Again, a sudden mood change from Klaus when talking about their father. Also, itâs really sad how Klaus is telling the truth here, because Reginald literally says in season 2 "I have a deep dislike of children. I do not have them, nor do I intend to have them". So Klaus seems to have a good idea about how Reginald truly was. Rehab did seem to have some effect
Klaus peaks up when Five says heâll get in the car. Like he knows that Five is in a 13 year old body, so he isn't legally allowed to drive. But he is also so curious.
Klaus is also barefoot. Good reference to his comic version, where he can only use his psychic powers when he isn't wearing shoes
I love that Diegoâs and Allisonâs love language for each other is roasting. âSee you guys in, what, 10 years when Pogo diesâ âNot if you die first.â âYeah, love you too, sis. Good luck on your next filmâ. We got our first âlove youâ! Aaand it was 100% sarcastic. Also, Diego calls Allison âsisâ!
That âHope it turns out better than your marriageâ comment hit hard for Allison, she immediately left after it
Even though Diego is a pretty health and fitness focused guy, he still takes out one mini marshmallow from the bag that Five left out earlier when he made his sandwich
Diegoâs face when heâs in the car and Klaus enters. That screams âNot this again let me have one second in peaceâ. Diego is used to Klaus but not to his antics. But he doesn't throw him out
So, Viktor left, Klaus knew about it, Five and Allison where in the room when he announced it, Five left with Klaus and Allison still in the room, Diego entered, Allison left, Diego left, Klaus left, Luther saw Klaus and Diego leaving in the car
I love Grace, great character. Often robots in fiction are said to have their own agency, but this show really questions that narrative. Does she? Or is it her programming. But here when she looks at the paintings she mimics that woman in the painting, looking at her with longing and awe. It looks like she wants to be that free, go see the places in those paintings which she never got to do under Reginald
Fiveâs forced smile at Agnes reminds me of his comic version
Five could have gone anywhere to get a coffee but he chose Griddyâs. A place with memories. Good memories. With siblings he cares so much about. Siblings which he saw dead. âSimpler timesâ. I think Five thought a lot about them in the apocalypse. Regretted some of his actions. âShouldn't have done thisâ âshould have done somethingâ âshould have said somethingâ âshould have told themâ. All those should haveâs.
On the side of Griddyâs is a sign with âDunfield Plazaâ and next to it is another sign with other shop names. Those being âDry cleaningâ, âAstro Typewriterâ and âGrand Mutualâ and under it is another LED sign with âWartonâs convenience 24hâ
Fiveâs fighting speaks for itself
Five didn't finish his coffee
Diego is holding the monocle above the water, thinking about Lutherâs words. He is conflicted about clearing Graceâs innocence with dropping it. He knows something is up with it. But he also wants to protect her
First time Klaus is referring to himself as âweâ, with we meaning Ben and him
Here we have the scene that led to fanfic authors making Klaus obsessed with waffles. Despite âYou like waffles?â âOf course you do, everyone likes wafflesâ and Ben even nodding. But thatâs the curse of a character mentioning liking a food once
Diego had the police radio on his car hood so heâd here if something came up
Klaus does drum rolls
Klaus knows about Diegoâs vigilante activity âbreaking bones and cracking skulls?â which does sound rather negative. He doesn't seem to be in favor of it. Comes with them being raised to kill and him seeing corpses that have broken bones, pieces of them missing, etc.
Diego responds with âSaving lives, babyâ
âI guess itâs frozen waffles againâ I hope you don't eat them frozen /j
âI could do egg and bacon but Iâm trying to cut down on my pig products.â I am leaning myself out of the window and throw a wild suggestion out: Could be interpreted as a hint towards Dave. Dave is Jewish and pork is not kosher
Diego is putting on the mask in the car
âYou are so weirdâ Viktor to Five. Another peak sibling behavior, love it. You have each other back not even a day but you are already back to being siblings
So Viktor knows Five was attacked and that the world will end
âIâll put on a pot of coffeeâ Miniscule detail, but he couldn't have known that Five wanted coffee since he already left when Five was searching for coffee in the Academy which led to him driving to Griddy's. I guess the usual person would say âI need a drinkâ when they find out âThe world will end in 8 daysâ BUT Viktor takes medication, so coffee is probably the next best thing, especially since the day has already been exhausting
And there we go! First episode over!

Some good things:
+ I got a raise for one of my teaching gigs;
+ Got my ~17,000 student loan down to ~11,500 in a matter of a month or so. S/O to the side gig & to my budgeting!;
+ Yâs ex & I have become friends. We are planning to meet in Colorado for a cabin hang. Maybe thatâs weird, but I donât think it is. I think itâll be healing to meet a person who has had a near-exact experience as me.
+ A previous student emailed me, asking if Iâll be covering a specific course next semester, because they want to take it with me.
+ The state of NM deposited 1,000 into my account unexpectedly. Iâm thinking maybe I effed up with my taxes? Whatever the reason: a large chunk of it went to the aforementioned student loan & Iâm ganna rent an airbnb with a pool here in a few weeks, because I need to swim badly.
+Making the collage last night was so relaxing & fun. More of that tonight, with some vegetarian nummies & a bottle of wine Iâm ganna order for delivery, in hopes the cute delivery guy that usually comes will smile & flirt like he does.
I want to parse some things out related to my ex husband, but will do so under the cut.
Iâm ganna detail a situation that happened last year, because it is an example of something I experienced and Iâm trying to work through/understand my own response.
Y and I were supposed to watch a football game on a Sunday. He said, I donât want to miss a work shift, so Iâm going to work late Saturday night (he did doordash). I said, Okay.
He did not arrive home until noon or 1 the next day: no call or text to check in with me, and no explanation about arriving home that late. We go down to the bar below our apartment, and he leaves his phone in the apartment. All very fucking odd behavior that had my stomach in knots. We get to bar, and he does not want to talk about work. His behavior is very standoffish and cold. The knot in my stomach tightens even more.
I go up to the apartment and look through his phone. A thing I should not have done (I have nuanced thoughts about this though IDK). I found weird text messages: one in which Y said âI dropped her off at your apartmentâ and others that were sent to his phone with a food order request.
I want straight to the bar and asked him wtf is going on. He screamed at me, said he was âfucking done with meâ and it became a massive fight. Later he revealed that he had helped a homeless woman, given her a ride, etc etc. I still do not fully believe the story, at all.
Beyond that: thereâs behavior in this whole scenario that is just fucking weird: staying out until the next day; not checking in with me; hiding that this scenario had even happened etc.Â
Y ended up leaving for a neighboring city for a few days and told me I needed to come up with some plans about how I would âimproveâ my behavior and deal with some of my issues. No consideration at all for his own weird ass behavior
-
& hereâs the thing Iâm trying to parse: I had many, many experiences in our relationship that caused me to have this gut-knot kind of feeling, this intuitive sense that his behavior was not okay or appropriate. when he would talk to me a certain way, make comments about other womenâs bodies, get angry at me, or do shit like the above. So many times when my body was physically screaming THIS IS NOT OKAY. HE Is fucking UP and doing something inappropriate. But, more often than not: I would say nothing. I would conclude that there was something wrong with me, and that he was right. There are so many times in our marriage that he made me uncomfortable, upset etc. but Iâd always circle back to believing he is right! you are wrong!
What Iâm trying to figure out is: how did that pattern happen? why did I acquiesce so frequently to him? this is also notable because it is a behavior i exhibit a lot, almost all of the time, in my relationships with men.
so I am noting it because I would like to eradicate that trait: and to be able to stand up for and express myself in all areas of my life, especially in my relationships with men. if i ever have one again.

ââI don't mean to paint such a bleak picture of [the 1960s],â Tork said. âI still felt I was in the vanguard, along with a bunch of other people. I was pretty happy. I had a circle of friends, and it was a lot of fun. God knows, I went through a lot of scenes and found out what I needed to find out, which is, for instance, that orgies are nice, but they're only temporary and they're not fulfilling.â Tork's infamous orgies were held at the Hollywood house he bought in 1968, previously the property of comedian Wally Cox. At the height of his fame, Tork could have paid for it in cash, but was advised against it. So he took out a huge loan and spent his money redecorating. In the master bedroom Tork's bed was eight feet by eight feet with a foam mattress six inches thick. He had a four-place bathtub put into the bathroom, along with a sauna. He had Mexican tiles laid. He carved his initials into the shower stall. There was red plush carpeting throughout the house, a wet bar in the foyer, six-by-nine-foot picture window in the living room overlooking the San Fernando Valley. The film room was a splendiferous workshop of sandblasted natural wood that housed Tork's resident filmmaker manquĂŠ. The screen covered the entire wall, offering a ten-by-twelve-foot platform for the flower of psychedelia's exploding visuals â viewed by exploding heads of all chemical persuasions, days on end. Just down the hall and across a bridge was another wing of the house. Downstairs was a cabana, leading to a fifty-foot pool. There were no houses behind his, so many people preferred to dive into the pool nude â straight out of his bathroom window. âI'd rather have nude swimming,â reflected Tork; âit's much easier. There's a certain charge to bodies if they're covered up, and if you remove that, it takes a lot of that extra energy out of things.â Originally, Tork brought a girl friend to live with him at the house. Then his filmmaker friend moved in. He was followed by a young woman and her son. Later a friend of his girl friend stayed there. When Tork quit the Monkees toward the end of 1968, his new group, Peter Tork and/or Release, moved in. Often, wandering downstairs of an early afternoon. Tork would come upon two or three strange bodies asleep in the walk-in fireplace. But that was all right. At the same time, it wasn't all right. âIf you're fixed on the notion that an orgy is going to fulfill you, and one doesn't do it, you're going to try a hundred. If orgies don't do it, maybe drugs will. Like the fixated person I was then, I went from one thing to another. I had to try everything: flower power, dope, orgies, fast cars.â His sternest nemesis was alcohol. âIn the beginning drinking was a lot of fun,â said Tork. âI have some memories of things that I did drunk that I never would have done sober, that I guess I always sort of wanted to do. But drinking isn't selective. It doesn't let you do exactly what you want to do and keep you from doing the things you don't want to do. Furthermore, at a certain point, and I think with certain personality types, it's addictive. You find you cannot drink moderately any longer. It finally reached a point with me where it was obvious that I was going to die if I kept up with it. I was never hospitalized, but I could see the path. I realized I was out of control.ââ- When The Music Mattered (1984)
âDuring his comeback Tork discovered âtoo much chemistry' (drugs, not the high school course) was beginning to blur the faculties and waste the resources, financially, physically, spiritually, morally and emotionally. âThen a miracle happened. I found, âThe Difference.â âI canât name âThe Differenceâ for a dozen reasons,â Tork added, âone of which is that no name sounds the same to everybody. If I said, âGod,â a lot of people â a previous self of mine included â would say, âOh, spare me your sanctimonious bull.â If I say, âthe cosmic patterning,â then it would be âOh, spare me your hippie-dippy bull.ââ Okay. Call it âThe Differenceâ and be done with it. What difference did it make? âI was crazy,â Tork said. âI was behaving crazily. It wasnât like I was a moral leper. I was just addictive and feeding my habit. Then one day I looked at the chemicals in my hand â in that case a bottle of beer â and I saw that I was not in charge. When I finally realized that, thatâs when I began to recover. Since then I have been able to avoid the use and abuse of all chemicals, primarily and including alcohol.ââ - The Cincinnati Enquirer, October 20, 1983
âI was very fortunate because I found myself to be an alcoholic and there is a community that is out to help and who will love you just because youâre an alcoholic who wants to get better. That was the beginning of my retrieval as a human being. Otherwise Iâd be a bubbling pile of protoplasm in the gutter someplace.â - Peter Tork, Toxic Fame (1996)
ââI have to say, I did anticipate it [what the interviewer called âBeatle-esque global maniaâ],â shrugs Tork. âBut what I never thought Iâd see was us still being around 45 years later. âI didnât even think Iâd live to see 45.ââ - Wales Online, May 13, 2011
âI didnât know Iâd ever be 50 years old.â - Peter Tork, ITN, September 2, 2015
ââ[Alcohol] thatâs the one that nabbed me,â Tork said. âBooze was my friend. The worries of the world sloughed off.â â¨One day Tork decided to start keeping a record of his drinking and soon found himself drinking in excess of 12 beers a day. ⨠âBut I wasnât an alcoholic. Because when I was in jail, I couldnât drink it and I was alright. When I was in the hospital, I couldnât have it, and it didnât bother me,â Tork said. ⨠The realization came one day while in New York when he found himself with a beer in his hand and suddenly realizing he had a problem. He talked to his wife and admitted to her that he had a problem and needed help. Tork praised the Drug Court system and other drug-recovery organizations. â¨âI could have died in agony or distress,â Tork said. âBut this, this is humbling. This stuff â Drug Court â this moment, standing in front of you â this is the other side.ââ - visaliatimesdelta.com, October 29, 2010Â
âHe's been sober for almost 30 years, and recently took time to address graduates of a drug court in California as part of his theory that recovery from any addiction is incomplete without service to others. â¨âI have been given a huge treasure: to not have to drink, which was my experience,â he says. âIt was obliged, it was mandatory. To be relieved of that imperative is an enormous gift, a jewel beyond price. There is no amount of money to make me give it up. What would I do with the money? ... And to keep this gift is to deny it to others.ââ - Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, November 4, 2010

Here is the background info for my dnd character Itty Bitty
Name: Itty Bitty Pronouns: it/its Race: Kobold Appearance: 2â3â of pure swag and white scales with black eyes Age: 18 Alignment: Chaotic good Gender: Agender Sexuality: Aroace Class: Bladesinger Wizard
Personality:Â
It has a favourite rock that just looks like a regular rock you would find anywhere. Like just a basic ass rock. It loses it often but then will just look at the ground and find another rock and be like âOh my favourite rock I found you!â
The rock is also its spell focus
It often flirts with people unconsciously because it just thinks itâs having fun but then people take it too seriously and it gets scared
A bit childish at times, like heart of a child with innocence but can still kill a bitch
Favourite music is hyperpop (but only listens to 100 gecs and nothing else)
Favourite song is hollywood baby
Its war cry is âdo you wanna party malibu barbyâÂ
Itâs very into moss
Has a friend named Moss but itâs not into him like that, itâs into the plant moss
Doesnât know the names of any of the different kinds of moss
Always points to any moss it sees and says âthatâs my favourite kind of mossâ and if people ask âoh what kind is itâ it will say âmy favourite kind, duhâ
Itâs a bit sassy but not in a rude way
Fighting style can be described as âscraggles up and goes for the kneesâ
Because it can only reach the knees usually
Opponents at the same height as it, it tries to kiss sloppy with tongue to freak them out which catches them off guard and then it stabs them
Backstory
Became an adventurer because it was listening to Hollywood Baby while asleep and it had a dream where a wizard asked it âDo you wanna party malibu barbyâ and it said yes in the dream and then woke up and had magical powers at age 8
Its parents couldnât afford magic school but their kobold clan knew a pack of magical wolves that taught Itty how to hone its magical abilitiesÂ
The wolves taught it to use bladesinger magic originally with a stick that it would also use to play fetch with the wolves
It got the sun blade because it entered a sweepstakes from the back of a Bart Simpson's No ProblemO's cereal box
Was like âFirst place gets to spend a weekend with Justin Bieber. Second place gets this sword I guessâ and it got second
It bought like 200 boxes of this cereal to enter this sweepstakes because it really wanted to meet Justin Bieber not because it listened to his music but because it wanted to kick him in the balls which put significant financial strain on its parents and they had to take out a loan and then only eat this cereal for months
It became an adventurer to repay the loan its parents took out to buy all of that cereal
Itâs only been adventuring for 2 years (since 16) but itâs been a VERY busy two years
Relationships
Parents
Dad: Gritty Bitty
Cobbler but specialises only in clogs
People try and tell him heâs a woodworker but he gets really offended
He has a big beard and a belly that jiggles a jar full of honey
Mom: Kitty Bitty
The kingâs royal plumber
She got appointed because she invented the plunger which solved many of the kingâs gassy woes
She also has a big beard but her belly jiggles like itâs full of wine
She always has Wine Wednesdays with the girlies every other day + Wednesdays unless itâs a leap year
Met at a rave while they were both high on ecstasy
Gritty went back to Kittyâs place after and they took a nap and then woke up and made waffles
They both cut their waffles in slices instead of squares and thatâs what made them fall for each other
They have a really good and strong relationshipÂ
Theyâve always been supportive of its adventures because they know it is so strong and will never get hurt
Its parents always tell the story about how when it was a child and it came home telling them it needed to make an entire kiddie poolâs worth of jello for a science class experiment but really it just wanted to swim in jello
Friend
Moss is its only friend
They met at magic wolf academy
Moss is a cis guy but his parents are just really into moss
Same as Itty where they donât know the different kinds of mosses they just like moss
Moss is a wizard satyr
Moss is 5â5 which is over double Ittyâs height
Moss lets Itty ride on his back so it can experience the joys of seeing above the second shelf at the grocery store

5 New Yearâs Resolutions to Assist You With Your Mortgage
With 2022 in the rearview mirror and a new year ahead, now is a good opportunity to consider your goals for 2023.
For some, it may involve initiating their fitness journey to feel their best. For others, the objective may be to develop better savings habits.
If you are a homeowner paying down a mortgage, one of your New Yearâs intentions may be to find ways to reduce your mortgage payment. In such a case, we have the perfect list for you.
Here are some ways you may be able to save money on your mortgage in the upcoming year.
1. Ensure your Current Mortgage is still Competitive and Appropriate
The beginning of the New Year is the ideal time to assess your current mortgage to discover if it is a good deal and meets your current needs.
With interest rates having increased greatly since 2022, you may not be able to obtain a significantly cheaper rate, but it is still worthwhile to conduct research.
Compare your mortgage interest rate to the rate offered to new customers by your lender. It is also a good idea to compare prices with various lenders.
A Home Loan Specialist from HUMfinance can help you refinance or negotiate a better interest rate if you locate a better deal.
2. Examine your Home and Belongings Insurance Coverage
Every homeowner must have enough insurance coverage. Your home is most likely your most valuable possession, so you should ensure that you have adequate home and contents insurance.
Different insurance carriers offer varying degrees of protection, so itâs a good idea to evaluate the strength of your policy in the new year.
The majority of home and contents insurance policies cover your home and valuables in the case of loss or damage caused by theft, storms, or fire.
In addition to the house itself, home insurance typically covers other structures on your property, such as fencing, sheds, and your swimming pool.
3. Make Additional Mortgage Payments Whenever Possible
The faster your mortgage is paid off, the less interest you will pay. While it is possible to make only the minimum monthly payment, it is prudent to consider making additional payments if possible.
If you can afford to devote a little more money toward paying down your mortgage balance, it may be beneficial to do so. You will grow closer to buying your property outright and without a mortgage.
4. Ensure that you are not Paying too much for your Mortgage.
Your property loan will be costly, but that does not imply there are no methods to save money. Here are some techniques to determine if you are overpaying on your mortgage:
Consider refinancing at least once every two years with great care.
Keep an eye on the interest rates offered by alternative lenders.
Ensure you are not paying for features you are not utilizing, such as an offset account for which you pay an annual subscription but do not utilize.
Ensure that you are not paying excessive costs, especially now that numerous lenders offer low-fee home loans.
5. Set A Home Loan Balance Target
Consider establishing a target for your home loan balance as our final resolution recommendation. Determine how much of your mortgage total you intend to pay off by 2023.
A decent starting point is to determine how much you paid down your mortgage in 2022 and set a goal for 2023 that is slightly greater. Consider changes in your salary and personal circumstances when determining how much you can afford to repay.
Having a lower interest rate and lesser fees makes it naturally easier to repay more of your mortgage. Schedule a Consultation with a Home Loan Specialist to determine if you may receive a better home loan offer in 2023 and save significantly.

Your Step-by-Step Guide to Investing in 2 BHK Flats in Thane
Investing in real estate is one of the most significant decisions you'll ever make. Itâs not just about buying a house, but about making an investment that will grow in value over time. For many homebuyers, a 2 BHK flat in Thane offers the perfect balance of affordability, space, and lifestyle. Thane has emerged as a prime real estate destination, and if you're planning to invest in a flat in Thane, this step-by-step guide will help you make the right choice.
1. Assess Your Budget and Financial Planning
Before you start looking at flats, the first step is to evaluate your budget. Itâs important to know how much you can afford to invest in a 2 BHK flat in Thane. Factor in the down payment, home loan eligibility, interest rates, and other related costs such as registration, stamp duty, and maintenance charges. When calculating your budget, keep a contingency fund in place for any unexpected expenses that may come up during the home-buying process. Itâs also a good idea to get pre-approval for a home loan, which will give you a clear idea of how much financing you can secure and simplify your property search.
2. Research the Market and Choose the Right Location
Thane is a large area with multiple residential pockets, each offering different advantages. When investing in a 2 BHK flat in Thane, it's important to research the local real estate market and identify areas that align with your lifestyle needs. Consider factors such as proximity to work, schools, hospitals, public transportation, and shopping centres. Look for areas in Thane that have seen infrastructure development like metro stations or new highways, as this can lead to property appreciation over time.Â
3. Check the Developerâs Reputation
One of the most crucial steps in buying a property is checking the reputation of the developer. A trusted developer with a solid track record will ensure that you get quality construction, timely delivery, and good post-sale services. Look at the developer's past projects, customer reviews, and financial standing before making a decision. In this context, Raymond Realty Ten X Habitat stands out as a prime option. This project is backed by the credibility and reputation of the Raymond brand, known for delivering high-quality homes with world-class amenities.
4. Understand the Amenities and Lifestyle Offerings
When choosing a 2 BHK flat in Thane, itâs important to look beyond the basic property features and consider the amenities offered by the project. Modern residential developments provide a wide range of amenities such as gyms, swimming pools, landscaped gardens, childrenâs play areas, and security features that enhance your lifestyle. These amenities not only improve your quality of life but also increase the future resale value of your investment.
5. Legal Checks and Documentation
Before finalizing your investment, ensure that the property is legally sound. Check if the project has received the necessary approvals from local authorities and whether it complies with the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) guidelines. The RERA registration ensures transparency in real estate transactions and protects homebuyers from fraudulent practices.
Make sure to verify the following documents:
The title deed of the property
Approved building plans
Occupancy and completion certificates (if applicable)
Home loan eligibility and approval from banks
By doing these checks, you can safeguard your investment and avoid potential legal complications in the future.
6. Visit the Project and Inspect the Flat
Once you've narrowed down your options, itâs time to visit the project site and inspect the flat. Seeing the property in person will give you a better understanding of the space, layout, and overall vibe. Pay attention to details such as ventilation, natural light, and the quality of materials used in construction.
7. Make Your Investment and Plan for the Future
Once youâve completed all the necessary research and are satisfied with your choice, itâs time to invest. Sign the sale agreement, make the down payment, and apply for your home loan if needed. Be sure to go through the terms of the agreement carefully and clarify any doubts you may have with your real estate agent or lawyer.Â
Conclusion
Investing in a 2 BHK flat in Thane can be a smart move for both end-users and investors. By following this step-by-step guide, you can ensure that you make an informed decision and choose a home that meets your familyâs needs and financial goals. Projects like Raymond Realty Ten X HabitatThane offer a unique blend of modern amenities, strategic location, and trusted construction, making it an excellent choice for anyone looking to buy a home in Thane.
