Founded in South Africa in 1987, Nando’s has a Mozambican-Portuguese theme centered around its peri peri sauces, aka African Bird’s Eye chili.

Nando’s does most of its business outside South Africa in at least at least 1094 Nando‘s locations in 30 countries including: U.K.: 339; Australia: 264; South Africa: 259; Malaysia: 56; U.S: 31 and Canada: 30.

African countries where Nando’s does business include Botswana, Mauritius, Namibia, Swaziland, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

Day 2: Peri-peri chicken, and now I’m craving some real bad

The couple of times I’ve gone overseas was for mission trips, so a lot of the food I ate was just whatever the organization hosting us gave us with very little explanation as to what we were eating. So, what I’m saying is I have eaten my fair share of food from southern India and central Mozambique but I don’t actually know the names of anything.

I saw some peri peri sauce at Trader Joe’s, which was apparently imported from South Africa, and it sounded good so I figured I’d give it a try. And the tiniest taste of it slingshotted my brain back to 2007 in Mozambique, where I definitely had a sauce very similar to it on chicken several times along with the cornmeal-based side that we were told was called pap, but I think is also referred to as xima? I looked it up and, yeah, peri peri (or piri piri) sauce originated in Mozambique and is commonly used on chicken.

Anyway, it was wild to have completely forgotten that I’d ever eaten this stuff, and then suddenly have a very intense taste memory spring up seemingly out of nowhere. There are other meals from that same trip that I remembered incredibly well and even tried to recreate with what limited knowledge I had to inform any recipe research, but I had completely forgotten about this sauce.

葡萄牙霹靂霹靂雞Peri Peri Chicken

霹靂霹靂雞是一道廣受歡迎的葡萄牙料理，也有人會說它是非洲料理，而世界各地許多超市都可以買到南非Nando's的霹靂霹靂烤雞醬，所以它到底是哪一國料理？

故事就從16世紀說起，莫三比克成了葡萄牙的殖民地，為了開發貿易貨物，葡萄牙人將在美洲發現的辣椒帶到莫三比克種植。其中，雀眼辣椒African Birds Eye長的特別好，這些生活在莫三比克的葡萄牙人，就將它與家鄉常用的橄欖油、蒜頭、檸檬一起打碎，就叫它霹靂霹靂醬peri peri sauce，因為peri在史瓦希利語裡就是辣椒的意思。霹靂霹靂醬可以拿來烤雞、醃漬肉品或海鮮，也可以沾東沾西，都很好吃，南非也在吃。

然後，1974年莫三比克獨立了，隨著葡萄牙殖民者返回祖國，霹靂霹靂雞也來到葡萄牙。後來，有一位叫做Nando's的人在南非開了一家烤雞餐廳，使用的醬料就是peri peri sauce，大概因為很好吃，他的餐廳飛快地在世界各地散佈開來，英國、美國、澳洲各地，全世界五大洲都可以聞到Nando's烤雞餐廳的香味。因為他是葡萄牙人，所以他的全球連鎖烤雞店理所當然的被視為＂葡式烤雞餐廳＂。原本在Nando's烤雞餐廳才能買到的reri reri sauce，現在也行銷到了世界各地的超市，也是許多人的餐桌上不可或缺的神奇美味調料。

Peri peri的基本材料就是剛剛提過的：雀眼辣椒、橄欖油、蒜頭、檸檬，再依照個人的喜好添加香草及香料，就成了你獨門的霹靂霹靂醬。我獨門的霹靂霹靂醬還沒做過，今天的烤雞要用Nando's，只在醃製調料中加一點自己的喜好。

雞腿排-4片

Nando's Peri Peri Sauce-60g

黃檸檬-1個

蒜頭-2瓣

橄欖油

西班牙煙燻紅椒粉-2 tsap

鹽之花

黑胡椒

小番茄

蘑菇

&lt;做法>

1.雞腿排放入攪拌盆

2.加入Peri Peri Sauce、蒜頭、西班牙煙燻紅椒粉、鹽之花、黑胡椒、橄欖油

3.刨入檸檬皮茸，將檸檬汁擠入攪拌盆中

4.將雞腿排以所有香料及調味料塗抹均勻後，放入冰箱醃至少2小時

5.小番茄及蘑菇撒上橄欖油，以鹽之花及黑胡椒調味

6.雞腿排與蒔蔬一起放入烤箱，以240度烤30分鐘

果然是Nando's，這樣簡單方便、輕輕鬆鬆就能端上桌的烤雞，真的好吃！

Cuddle pile!!! Once, Peri brought home a stray Furby. It brought the entire house into chaos as the Furby went feral on them. It took sacrificing Cosmo to it for the Furby to calm down.

It spat him out eventually, but the house was a wreck afterwords. Wanda refused to let Timmy or Peri keep it as a pet, thinking (rightly) that they're not ready for one. Cupid took the Furby off their hands afterwords.
