im usually v ship and let ship but the way so many solas x rook fans are bending over backwards to justify the ship and completely pissing all over solas's story to do so is kind of mind boggling.

fr I'd normally just scroll past and ignore it but the way they're trying so hard to bash solas x lavellan in the process is so dumb it merits a takedown tbh. you don't have to like the solas/lavellan ship but the way they're just straight up denying the character development he goes through in his romance and in inquisition as a whole is truly bizarre

he's not more himself with Rook. He's literally the version of himself that he hates with Rook. The version that he would happily lay to rest given the chance. you don't even have to romance him with lavellan to see that he treasures his time with the Inquisition immensely because, ironically, that is where he was most able to be himself for the first time in thousands of years. He has a whole room dedicated to it in the lighthouse. It's the only place in the lighthouse free of mythal and his dreadwolf motifs. It's where he can be 'just solas', as he wants to be, as he states in his letter to a romanced lavellan. He very explicitly states that that is what he wants, so idk how much clearer it could be that he doesn't give a shit about 'Fen'harel' or who he is to rook

Personally I think that what someone wants is a lot more revealing about their character and is much more important than whoever they had to become to survive. Just something to chew on

I guess if you want a miserable romance that you have to ignore boatloads of story content to justify, go ahead I guess. But the way they're trying so hard to shit on the solas x lavellan romance is honestly more funny than annoying, because it speaks to their own insecurity about how much of a nothingburger the solas x rook dynamic truly is, especially in the broader context of the game, solas's character and in comparison to the solas x lavellan romance.

Moral Orel doesn't seem 100% like a show I'd feel seen in if you don't know me but then I remember the episode with the special ed kids and underneath the usual satire on extremist bible belt religion it reminds me WAY too much of how actual special ed departments treated me and other kids growing up.

There's this guy I've seen online and he says the most stereotypically white supremacist conservative things and it's what you'd expect so everyone's like oh yeah whatever. This guy again. But then sometimes he'll say things that actually make sense and that normal people agree with, and everyone's like, "did this guy Actually say something right for once? Maybe he's gaining awareness maybe he's getting smarter," and it's like guys you know that this is how they get you, right? You know that he's doing this on purpose, right?

It's like a well known tactic of white supremacists to say things that normal people believe or agree with (whether the white supremacists agree with it or not), to start trying to convince people that aren't super conservative that sometimes they're right and to keep listening so that the white supremacists can slowly turn their beliefs around and ease them into becoming more and more conservative and ignorant. People do know that, right? That's exactly what he's doing
