I wanna talk about Patrick McKinney and death and race

White cheerleader only in one episode gets full Vecna visit and death

White newspaper kid who was creepy and only in a couple episodes gets full Vecna treatment and death

Patrick, who is black gets none of it.

I mean literally he was the only one of Vecna’s victims we didn’t see anything about his pain only him mentioning an abusive parent in passing.

And to add to this I constantly see videos that leave him out of the vecna killings.

No one can say it was only because he was a new character or not in it long because Chrissy and Fred we're new and in less than Patrick.

If you can't see the way the Duffers have treated their black characters like crap then your blind.

So just remember if you're a Billy hater for being racist towards Lucas don't forget to add in Mike and The Duffer Brothers

How I imagine different Billy Hargrove ships getting together because he refuses to leave my head (I’m procrastinating research for my dissertation)

Harringrove: It’s a long process across many years of hooking up and breaking up and fighting. They seem to spilt up for good in their late twenties until they reconnect twenty years later, without any youthful headstrong feelings that kept them apart. They find each other again in a bar in California and just never leave.

Mungrove: Billy learns about Eddie because they run in similar circles in Hawkins. It’s such a small scene, meeting is inevitable and they both have such similar tastes, they hit it off immediately. Billy is eventually worn down and lets Eddie design them couples Hellfire Club shirts.

Calicheer: it’s after cheer practice and Chrissy finds Billy hanging out aimlessly outside the gymnasium, reluctant to go back home. After a long night of talking, he makes a slightly clunky offer of a date and Chrissy is so charmed by him, she accepts.

Hollogrove: Post Starcourt, Billy and Heather are in adjacent beds in hospital. They’d been friends for a couple of months with a reciprocated crush neither had known about. Nothing like almost dying to confess your true feelings for someone though. They escape Hawkins together.

Argilly: There genuinely had never been anyone else. A first kiss for both of them at fifteen, then two years later Neil had found out. Billy was taken from a medium sized town in California to a small town in Indiana. Writing to each other is exceptionally difficult until after the mindflayer. Then Billy finds him again.

Kingrove: It was a secret from literally everyone, both having homophobic and abusive fathers. Good thing both of them are very good at keeping secrets. They break up briefly due to an argument about where to move after high school but get back together within 48 hours. Steve and Heather called it the longest 48 hours of their life.

Byergrove: Jonathan really loves photography. Billy has a passion for short stop motion films. They get paired together for a film project in school and get gradually closer throughout the month before the project is due. Jonathan makes the first move. Billy has a *small* crisis and runs off, before eventually accepting.

Cargrove: Jason is very, very closeted. Billy, slightly less so. Jason decides he wants to *experiment* with same sex relationships and sets his sight on Billy. Billys initial reaction is fuck no, because he isn’t just an experiment but Jason manages to prove that he’s genuine. Eventually.

Harringroveson: Billy and Eddie are together very very fast and Steve can’t decide who he’s jealous of. Turns out, it’s both. But he manages to endear himself to Billy and Eddie with a genuinely earnest and sweet nature and they decide to become a polycule. It works very well.

So there was not a SINGLE PERSON in the writer's room who could come up with a better backstory/build-up to Patrick getting Vecnaed. Not One. Do not EVER tell me the writing on this show is top shit. Y'all just too busy in your circlejerk to care.

Ahhh I've been gradually finding some of your patrick x chrissy posts/moodboards! Glad to see I'm not the only one who ships/writes for them💞

Do you have any other hcs or vibes for them??

I am obsessed I actually wrote a little fic for them too but I ought to write more. You can see them sprinkled throughout my other fics too because they just make so much SENSE.

But my biggest vibe for them is like… it’s always been like the three musketeers. Jason, Pat and Chrissy. And when Jason wanted to date Chrissy he asked, and of course Pat said yes.

Because they’re his best friends. It doesn’t matter that it hurts staying together matters more.

And Chrissy always wondered why not? Why did Patrick never… because they get on so well. He’s the only one she told about her mom. She’s the only one he told about her dad.

But they’re together. That’s what matters. And her parents would never accept them. His parents would never accept her. It doesn’t matter that it hurts staying together matters more.

She writes it on a paper and burns it in the grate. He writes it on his heart and tells no one. It doesn’t matter that it hurts staying together matters more.

Some examples of The Duffers failing their characters:

Chrissy's death serving as Eddie's motive.

Making Karen a child predator (they could've had a scene where Billy apologizes to Lucas, but instead they chose that... hm.)

Making Billy look like he was the "big bad predator" during the pool scene, even though he was the victim and not Karen.

Giving El a boyfriend before she learns about what she likes and doesn't like.

Framing Billy to be worse than the actual villains.

Having Nancy date Jonathan even though he took pictures of her without her consent.

Steve lying to Billy about where Max was.

Having Argyle be the "tracker" while Jonathan, Mike, and Will look at a map.

Patrick's death scene. The camera kept panning to Eddie and Jason instead of staying focused on Patrick. He didn't even get a flashback.

Their inability to write female friendships without including a fight over a boy.

Traumatizing El over and over again.

Killing Barb and Heather.

Choosing which characters for the audience to support, which they do by framing certain characters as bad in order to make other characters look better.

Inconsistencies with their characterization.

Adding new characters just to kill them off and avoid killing any of the main characters.

Reducing characters to stereotypes.

Argyle doesn't have a last name.

the way there was this whole episode where chrissy's haunting was spread throughout it and then another episode for fred's but somehow patrick didn't even get a full scene, like "it would be too repetitive" bitch it alr got repetitive at fred getting another whole episode about it like get tf outta here

Sometimes, I think of an au in which Henry regrets killing a bunch of hormonal teenagers with an array of drama and personal problems. Think of Billy driving donuts in the upside-down. The Hellcheer love triangle with Jason continuing. Heather and Max insulted Vecna at every given moment. Eddie is playing his music at night when Henry is asleep. Fred and Barb, and Partrick are planning an escape from the upside-down.

Vecna tries to get Bob's help with these kids who are not scared of him anymore. But Bob is more concerned about the kids.

The only one who is actually scared of Henry is Jason
