I make this chocolate cake for seder every year and have been for almost 20 years. I don’t know why it’s called “mock chestnut torte”. I just call it chocolate sweet potato cake. Ten or 15 years ago my birthday was on the first night of Passover, and we put candles in it quite successfully.

The recipe is from Marcy Goldman’s “Jewish Holiday Baking”. My copy of this book has pages falling out and stains on the really good recipes — totally worth having. But here’s a free link to the recipe:

My birthday will be on Passover this year, so I'm wondering if anyone on Jumblr knows of Passover-kosher 'cake' recipes that actually taste good, I'd really appreciate it if you responded to this post with a recipe (or a link to one)

My instacart shopper noticed I added Easter cupcakes to my order, so she texted me "Happy Easter!" in the app and I was like "Happy Easter, Passover, Ramadan, and/or Saturday, depending on what you celebrate!"

so after she dropped it off and was going to her car, she called HAPPY EASTER! and then HAPPY PASSOVER! RAMADAN! and I'm yelling HAPPY EVERYTHING! and she's like HAPPY LIFE!!!

and wow, it really is a happy life sometimes, isn't it? when everyone's kind to each other. 💜
