Why do writers on TikTok have to be like, “If you can’t finish a story in 50,000 words or less, then you’re not a good writer!!”
I get what they’re trying to say. Really, I do. And I know this advice is mostly aimed at people who want to publish. But man, I hate seeing this take, and I see it a lot.
This kind of thinking makes sense for essays and school papers. If a professor asks for a five-page analysis and you need ten pages to get your point across, yeah, maybe you need to tighten things up. But when it comes to storytelling? To creating your own world?
!!! WRITE AS MUCH AS YOU WANT !!!
If you want your love interests to pine for each other for 20 chapters before they even think about kissing—DO IT! If you want them to be hopelessly in love by chapter three—THAT’S OKAY TOO!
I feel like this is mainly a BookTok thing, because I never see this advice on Tumblr. There’s such a huge push for quantity over quality, like books are meant to be consumed as quickly as possible. Everything has to be short, bingeable, and straight to the point. And hey, if that’s how you like to write or read, that’s totally fine! But let’s be real—taking your time with a story doesn’t make you a bad writer.
Yeah, if you’re publishing, an editor might suggest cutting scenes or trimming down chapters. And I get it, not everyone enjoys five chapters of pure world-building (I groan at it sometimes too). But long books exist for a reason—some stories need that space to breathe.
And honestly? Since reading has become more “performative” and “romanticized” (I know that’s not quite the right word, but you get what I mean), there’s this weird competitive side of BookTok where people flex how much they read and how fast. Like, of course you read 30 books in a month—you’re reading books that can be finished in a day! That’s totally fine, but then some of those same people turn around and act like a book has to be short in order to be good.
Like…
NOOOO!!!
Not every book needs to be a quick, one-day read. Not every story fits neatly into 50,000 words. Some books take their time. Some books make you wait for that moment, and that’s part of what makes them so satisfying. And that’s okay!!

I don't get why people hate the timeline so much, its not like you can't pretty much completely ignore it when you play the games. The only time it even approaches mattering to the story is when there is an explicit sequel like botw and totk or zelda and zelda 2
Hey sorry your ask got lost in the sauce of my broken tumblr, but: yeah!
I mean, I get why in some sense. It's been a heated point of debate and I think some people understandably resent the space it has taken not only in fandom discourse, but in how people began to understand the game and its narrative aesthetic choices. There is such a thing as over-rationalizing everything to hard logic, and sometimes it's just not the fandom for that --especially when you begin to forget it's all just fan theory and start to forget what the games are supposed to be like and evoke beyond just strict facts displayed in a linear way.
What I think bugs me with TotK in particular is that it both evokes and relies on continuity and the idea of a timeline, of archeology, of history itself, while being so loose and vacant with it that it both is doing Timeline Shit while also completely failing to understand why some parts of the fandom were invested in Timeline Shit to begin with.
But that's just my two cents of course!
#asks#tloz#timeline#totk critical#thanks for the ask!#I do... feel two ways about that myself#I think pure evocation is genuinely one of zelda's greatest storytelling strengths#that mood is sufficient and enough in itself and doesn't always need justification#it is the way the games center story --and that's genuinely wonderful and a strong take on narrative in games#as something freeflowing and accompanying gameplay rather than the opposite#and to ignore that and focus on hard facts all of the time kind of misses the point of the games' stories to a degree#BUT#I also get quite annoyed at the weird condescencion towards fans that do decide to engage with the stories more factually#especially since this is either revelatory regarding some of nintendo's choices#(that the aesthetics of evil are so tied to The Desert TM while taking so many inspirations from european fairy tales for example)#(it's not neutral even if we ignore ingame “lore”)#or just a great fodder for creativity and narrative play#and it is a part of the IP too!! just as much as dungeons and items and musics and curiosity-driven exploration!!#I do have beef with people not resonating with that aspect thinking others that do so are just stupid or childish#and that you can only have an enlightened relationship with zelda if you like it “the right way”#(which is somehow always mechanics/logic-driven which is. interesting to me.)#(or in a completely passively aesthetic way as in “I like fairies they're pretty”)#but you know it's the weird Triforce Shirt Dude stigma thing#that notion that you can (and must!) Love Zelda Deeply and Defensively#but you cannot be *passionate* about Zelda#then it's weird and immature#I don't know I feel like there's a lot to analyze in that arbitrary dychotomy#anyway sorry for the mega novel in the tags!!

I genuinely feel like Alan Wake 2 has reconfigured my brain chemistry on a completely new level. Like no joke, I feel like I was one person before this game and now I’m someone else after. No I am not being dramatic

How My Dear Follower Does It: #1
Meet Jojo—A Mother, A Writer, and Her "Why".
Tumblr media
Asking someone why they do something is one of the best ways to understand them. The why is personal, deeply rooted, and often tied to passion.
Writers, though, rarely get asked this question—at least not until they’ve made it to a bestseller list. But asking yourself why you write? That’s essential. It’s the fire that keeps you going.
So yesterday, I asked Jojo—a fellow writer—what made her think, “This is it!” I expected something profound, but what I got was even better: the cherry on top of the cake.
No matter the form—dancing, acting, drawing, cooking,or writing—Jojo’s reason remains the same: ✦ She wants to express life in all its raw, messy, and beautiful emotions.
And that? That’s the heart of every great writer.
Writing Through a Mother’s Eyes.
What makes Jojo stand out, though, isn’t just her love for writing. It’s how she writes through the eyes of a mother.
Why does that matter? Because not everyone has a mother’s perspective.
Many things make great writing: persuasiveness, structure, originality… But if there’s one thing that makes it valuable, it’s relatability.
And who understands human emotions and experiences better than a mother raising two adorable babies?
Jojo is lucky—not only because she’s a writer or a mother, but because she gets to be both at the same time.
She also writes for fun!
There’s a difference between writing because it’s a job—painstakingly carving the “perfect” story—and writing simply because you want to.
Jojo doesn’t have to write. She doesn’t have to sit in front of a laptop, staring at a blinking cursor, willing inspiration to appear. She writes because she chooses to.
No deadlines. No editors breathing down her neck. No pressure from eager fans.
Just writing—for herself first. And if the world wants a peek? Well, that’s just a bonus.
A Writer at Heart.
How do you know something is real?
Relationships, faith, love—they’re all defined by one thing: commitment. Coming back to something, time and again, is what makes it genuine.
Jojo has been to many places. She dabbled in digital marketing, worked as a freelancer, and pursued a bachelor’s degree in business. All while raising two children—and only she knows the struggles that came with it.
Yet, writing remained a part of her through everything, as natural as the eyes on her face and the hands on her arms.
Tumblr media
So what's Jojo up to, now?
Between caring for her little ones and managing a home, Jojo continues her education, with dreams of stepping into the business world. But for now, she’s here on Tumblr, sharing her creativity with the world.
And creativity is something she has in abundance.
Right now, she’s writing a thrilling story about a young woman who chooses the pirate’s life in a bid for freedom.
Here’s a glimpse into Jojo’s world, straight from her pirate adventure:
“The story began when I met my stepsister, Aurora. My mother passed away and my father had a lady waiting, with my soon-to-be stepsister in tow. But I tell you now that I'm no Cinderella.”
Wanna read more? Head to @blissfullyunawares and show Jojo some love.
Want to Share Your Story?
Everyone has a story worth telling. If you’d like to share yours, feel free to reach out to me at @azus-reyan or submit your story here. I’d love to hear it!
There’s plenty more to come, so stay tuned.
It’s been a pleasure.
Until next time— Bye!

I think a very unique feature about webcomics that can be a lot harder to see in official publications is the fact that you can actively watch years of hardwork and improvement just slowly build up over time.
And it's one of the most inspiring and beautiful things, honestly??

How My High School Interests Shaped Who I Am Now
Daily writing promptDescribe something you learned in high school.View all responses It’s wild how sometimes the things we learned way back—things we didn’t think too much about—end up becoming such a big part of who we are. When I think about my high school years, I realize that the things I loved then are the same things I still carry with me now. They quietly shaped me, even when I didn’t…

Through the Eyes of a Photographer ~
Ever since I discovered photography in 1996 in New York, it has never left my side. It has become something I think about daily—without exaggeration. Photography has woven itself into every aspect of my life. It’s no longer just an act of creating images; it’s the way I perceive the world. A walk is never just a walk. Every movement, every shadow, every passerby, becomes a subject, a frame, a…

4me4you features digital creator Dean Bianchi  aka “spipasucci_ai” - “Surreal realities thru AI”.
Dean Bianchi is an eCommerce Director at a small company in Northeast Ohio by day, but by night, he is a passionate digital creator, blending the technical aspects of current digital tools with a unique and often whimsical aesthetic. His creative journey has evolved over the years, influenced by a deep fascination with music, film, and storytelling from an early age.
Growing up, Dean was drawn to alternative media—late-night cable shows, indie films, and local college radio—that presented a world outside the mainstream. His love for these art forms only grew as he studied film in the late 80s and early 90s, forging friendships with other artists, writers, musicians, and filmmakers. During this time, he explored various creative mediums, including 8mm and 16mm film, collage art, poetry, and writing.
Though Dean took a detour in his creative journey for a while, focusing on his ‘regular’ job, he never fully let go of his creative passions. His career in digital tools—Photoshop, Premiere, interactive Flash, and web development—allowed him to keep learning and nurturing his creative side.
In the past two years, Dean’s world was transformed by the emergence of generative AI. Starting with Leonardo AI, he was instantly inspired by the new technical possibilities and the ability to bring his quirky, odd ideas to life. This sparked a creative reawakening, and as he explored platforms like MidJourney and Instagram, he found a supportive and inspiring community of digital creators. Their feedback pushed him to dive deeper into his creative approach, and he’s fully committed to pursuing this new creative outlet.
Recently, Dean has integrated generative AI video into his work, connecting back to his early passion for film and video. This has allowed him to blend his years of video education and experimentation with this exciting new technology. His creative aesthetic is deeply influenced by a fascination with strange, surreal imagery and motion, often mixing dark tones with whimsical or silly contexts. Drawing inspiration from artists like David Lynch, Michel Gondry, and Mr. Bungle, Dean’s work is known for its strong sense of color, randomness, and a sense of being a glimpse into an alternate reality.
Looking ahead, Dean is eager to integrate his creative world into his day-to-day life, whether through a career shift or by building visibility and engagement with the growing digital creator community. He has already begun work on a short film, joined Hailuo’s CPP, launched a YouTube channel for his video work, and is in the process of launching a website and print store. He also enjoys sharing tips and insights with others and is exploring ways to make that knowledge more accessible to a wider audience.
Grateful for the creative outlet that generative AI has provided, Dean is excited to continue sharing his ‘weirdness’ and growing alongside the digital creator community on this thrilling journey.

The Power of the Pen: A Passion Unleashed
What are you passionate about? I’ve always been an avid dreamer, but my most fervent passion is something that allows me to weave those dreams into a tapestry of words: writing. To me, writing is more than just putting pen to paper, it’s an exploration of thoughts, a journey through emotions, and an artistic expression that transcends the boundaries of reality.   There’s a special kind of…
