Sociopaths, a term often used to describe those living with antisocial personality disorder, who operate within their daily lives without a “conscience,” can be characterized as acting without feelings of guilt, remorse, or shame coupled with a tendency to reject the concept of responsibility.
Antisocial people will intentionally make others angry or upset and use harsh and cruel indifference as they manipulate or attack others.
Clinically speaking, there is no defined difference between a sociopath and a psychopath although some have drawn this line at acting with low moral conscience (sociopath) and no moral conscience (psychopath) or having no regard for someone else’s rights or feelings (sociopath) and taking pleasure in robbing another of their rights, freedom, or well-being (psychopath).
My colleagues and I have discussed psychopathy in the previous president elsewhere as an example. Recognizing these nuanced differences exist, I will use the term sociopath and sociopathy here for brevity’s sake.
There appear to be at least three forms of this public political/governmental sociopathy present today. The first are those individuals for whom sociopathic tendencies are deep-seated and a core feature of who they are – the former president being a prime example. A second form includes the scores of Republicans and right-wingers who have decided to play the role or act sociopathic for their own personal gain. This includes hard-line MAGA members such as Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, Kari Lake and Matt Gaetz, who decided to infect themselves with contagious sociopathy.
Look at the case of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis whose impressive on-paper resume includes graduation from Yale University (where he served as captain of the baseball team) and Harvard law school (with honors), distinguished service in the United States Navy including a legal role with Seal Team One and a deployment to Iraq. On paper, he is highly accomplished and embodied what we as Americans tend to hold in high regard … until he acquired contagious sociopathy.
Coincident with his departure from active military service and rise to Congress and the Florida governorship, he apparently chose to include antisocial tendencies in his political and public persona. He believes in unregulated gun ownership (despite brutal killings in his state’s own schools), he attacks the rights of women with his restrictive abortion laws, he suppresses legislation that would support the LBGTQ+ community, and he seeks to diminish the plight of historically maltreated groups (such as African Americans) with his attempts to bury the past.
In another high-profile example, the U.S. Supreme Court was constitutionally designed as a third arm of our democratic republic that was supposed to serve independently from the other Branches in an apolitical manner … now its majority is infested with contagious sociopathy. In just the last year (and weeks), they sociopathically overturned Roe v. Wade and severely undercut women’s healthcare rights, ruled in favor of discrimination, and ruled against students struggling under the mountain of student debt…all while facing accusations of improper gifts, hypocrisy, and politicization … in other words, with contagious sociopathy.
The third group with contagious sociopathy are the passive enablers of widespread acts of manipulation and cruelty ranging from long-serving, establishment leaders like Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) all the way to the throngs of people clad in Confederate flags and MAGA idolatry whose inaction and permissiveness serves as a large-scale petri dish by which contagious sociopathy can flourish. It cannot go without mentioning that the processes of cultism are at play here as well.
It should be noted that the term I have been using – contagious sociopathy – is not mutually exclusive from what we have been observing with the perversion of Christian thought to suit sociopathic behaviors and the rise of fascism in the U.S. (Ruth Ben-Ghiat has written extensively on the latter). In addition, and in no way trying to simplify or underestimate the factors underlying American racism, the racist platforms of the far right and GOP, have provided a type of currency by which contagious sociopathy can spread – many have argued that the ascension of Donald Trump allowed closeted racists to become public racists. Racism includes the antisocial tendencies of demeaning, manipulating, and harming others without remorse as a key feature.
One cannot talk about contagious sociopathy without considering righteousness – a term describing the phenomenon by which malicious acts – including harming and killing others – are justified as long as the bad actor can consider the ‘victims’ to be an enemy. This is a bedrock of the Trump and MAGA attacks on the Left and any that criticize or oppose them.
I have written and said it before and I will do so again: The contagious spread of sociopathy has provided us with potential and actual leaders who embody the worst that humanity has to offer according to moral, legal, religious/spiritual, and societal norms…and they continue to run on this platform.

Okay I’m not done with my analysis yet and idk if you even care but I love psychology and I love killing eve so I’m going to yap. I did think of a really good comparison for psychopathy versus sociopathy in the show.
Aaron Peel versus Villanelle.
I’m sure you can notice the differences and similarities between them and how they view the world.
Peel is a textbook psychopath.
There’s a conversation they have at the end of 2.07 (I think?) which I remember thinking was super interesting the first time I watched.
V: “Do you ever get lonely?”
A: “Never. I’m with people all the time. I know things about them even their closest friends don’t know.”
V: “You don’t want to… talk to them? Touch them? Sleep with them?”
A: “God, no. Do you?”
V: “Yeah! I do, all the time.”
I care very much and this is very interesting! Yeah Aaron gave me such the creeps and that would make sense that’s he’s like. A psychopath. I think the show does an interesting job (at least so far in the first two seasons) of having psychopaths and sociopaths and kind of like. The differences between them and stuff

Not a question just generally curious. Who's your favorite character from all the shows you watch?
I got this ask a while ago, but I didnt answer as im apart of like 1000 fandoms
Well for now at the top of my head, I can think of a few.
JJBA
Right now, my fav has gooot to be Josuke. Im literally the same age as him which makes him really relatable, and part 4 is just goated 🔥🔥
Tokyo Revengers
HANMA MOTHERFUCKING SHUJI. I was gonna say Draken but... Lets be real. I love the worst guys 💔 Hed be the most unhinged toxic death gripping yandere. His personality I would fucking hate irl, but i like to giggle about it behind my cracked ass screen. And hes just so... Soooooooo.... SOOOOO HOOOOOOOOTTT 😫😫😓
Identity V
Not a show but shhh it's an original.
Norton Campbell. Sorry Jack but he was here first. Always have loved him, and always will. Mf made me join the fandom im the first place low-key. I really like his design and canon personality. I personally think relatable due to things in my past. 10/10 character, would main again.
Demon Slayer
Douma.
Douma Douma Douma Douma Douma Douma Douma Douma Douma Douma Douma Douma Douma Douma Douma Douma Douma Douma Douma Douma Douma Douma Douma Douma Douma Douma Douma Douma Douma Douma
Just... Its the same as Hanma tbh. Fictional psychopathic/sociopaths got a grip on me. Maybe its bc I can enjoy their dramatized freak of nature selves from a FARRR distance.
(Spoiler for Infinity Castle arc from here??)
He's got pretty privilege, so annoying that its funny, OP ASFFFFF if plot amor didnt get him (OR HIS DAMN YAPPING), and he's just so silly.
HXH
.... I want to look good and say Kurapika or Gon, but we all know.
Chrollo. L.
HE CAN TAKE THIS L UGGHHH
I actually really like and enjoy his character lol. I die laughing at how everyone in the yan community has just agreed, "Yeah Chrollo is crazy manipulative and OP, but he's not suave with his darling. Like at all." Its nooooot always accurate, but can we normalize fun? Enjoyment? Being happy? Having a laugh and a clickity cackle?
Jujutsu Kaisen
I haven't been into JJK for a while buuutt i do still get spoilers so!! Im still in baby.
Anyways, Geto. Him being uh.... Opinionated isn't reaaally my favorite thing, but his character is really good. Bc like, I get his motivations and its just really good in general.
And hes pretty.
Not much to say. Ive read the manga a little after the Shibuya arc, but the tree looking mf explaining got... Too long. And confusing so I havent consumed JJK content since 😭
Record of Ragnarok
Buddah. NEEEEXTTTTT.
Arcane
Viktor. Beautiful design, voice, and, muah, PERSONALITYYYY.
My #1 thing is intelligence, 2nd is cracking jokes. He's checking the boxes, YEAH. YEAH.
Cheekbones ughhhhh YES
His character is also well made and intriguing.
Metal Family
Glam. Glam always.

Searching for lost media: the Scary Tales documentary (2)
What is quite interesting is that we have actually small clips and extracts from the show itself! They were posted on the 3net Youtube channel eleven years ago - the channel called “3netTV”. More precisely we have the opening scene of two of the episodes.
The one of Hansel and Gretel / Cinderella:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQUB89rgjec
And the one of Pied Piper / Rapunzel:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dx36QO5e0s
As you can see, these bear the mark of your typical Discovery Channel documentary. An alternate set of historian interviews and live-action reconstitutions of the subject - accompanied by occasional bad CGI and bad acting typical of such “documentary reconstitution scenes” of the 2000s (2011 being technically late 2000s). Though the sets are gorgeous, as you might have seen before, and will see below. 3netTV also has the opening scene of the “Little Red Riding Hood / Bluebeard” episode but it is... special. It is a 3D video. So if you do not have 3D glasses, it will just hurt your eyes.
However, what 3net also brings on Youtube is a scene from the reconstitution of the brothers Grimm fairytale “The Juniper Tree”. Mostly it is the famous scene of the boy being beheaded by his wicked stepmother. And... I have to admit I actually really like this scene. The documentary is all about digging the darkness, grim things and creepy details of fairytales, and this scene truly plays the darkness and borderline horror of the original tale - BUT it also deals with the lack of funds and means such a documentary has. It plays on what we do not see, on camera angles, lighting and the acting to convey the scene, and I really like how creepy the stepmother is depicted here, truly fitting the idea of a woman “possessed by the devil” as it is implied in the Grimm tale (or as we would put it today, a complete sociopath/psychopath). But you can see the scene by yourself there:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFxbi37I7Lw&pp=ygUQc2NhcnkgdGFsZXMgM25ldA%3D%3D
As I promised in my previous post, here is more of the set design pictures from Susannah Christine’s portfolio (right here: https://www.susannahchristinedesign.com/scary-tales.html )
Here are some of the “Hansel and Gretel” segment:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Many for the “Red Riding Hood” segment:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A mix of Snow White (left) with Hansel and Gretel (right):
Tumblr media
And a picture of what is either the Cinderella or Bluebeard segment:
Tumblr media
There are many more pictures, but you can check by yourself over at the portfolio.
I think this is all worth posting for now. As I was notified in my previous post, the show was on Netflix for quite some times - and the Youtube comments under the videos confirmed the episodes could be seen on Netflix. However - like many other shows - it got removed one day, and so it cannot be looked at by Netflix anymore.
Does anyone know where this show can be seen today? Has anyone kept a copy of it somewhere? Are there links?

ASPD – Antisocial personality disorder
Antisocial personality disorder is a personality disorder characterized by long-term pattern of disregard of, or violation of, the rights of others
– in past referred to as "psychopathy", "sociopathy"
– in ICD-10, it's also called "Dissocial personality disorder"
Diagnostic criteria (DSM-V)
A pervasive pattern of disregard for and violation of the rights of others, occurring since age 15 years, as indicated by three (or more) of the following:
Failure to conform to social norms with respect to lawful behaviors, as indicated by repeatedly performing acts that are grounds for arrest
Deceitfulness, as indicated by repeated lying, use of aliases, or conning others for personal profit or pleasure
Impulsivity or failure to plan ahead
Irritability and aggressiveness, as indicated by repeated physical fights or assaults
Reckless disregard for safety of self or others
Consistent irresponsibility, as indicated by repeated failure to sustain consistent work behavior or honor financial obligations
Lack of remorse, as indicated by being indifferent to or rationalizing having hurt, mistreated, or stolen from another
A person can't be diagnosed with ASPD until they are 18 years old, but if you're a minor you might get diagnosed with a Conduct disorder instead. There should also be evidence of conduct disorder with onset before the age of 15 years old
Causes
The causes are unknown, however genetic factors and environmental factors (such as child abuse) are believed to contribute to the development of ASPD
NOTE:
1. ) DON'T SELF-DIAGNOSE BASED ON THIS POST ALONE!!! Do your own research, ask other people's experiences. I'm all up for self-diagnosis AS LONG AS YOU DO PROPER RESEARCH!!
2. ) Terms "sociopath" and "psychopath" refer to people with ASPD. If you do not have ASPD, don't use this term to refer to a person in a derogatory way. Only people with ASPD are allowed to reclaim those terms
3. ) Don't stigmatise the disorder because of it's diagnostic criteria or because you believe that people with ASPD are "dangerous" and "criminals". They're not, end of discussion~
That's all for now, have a nice day/night~
— With love, Succubus

friendly reminder to not only normalize people with personality disorders but to never sexualize them. so many people seem to toss around the terms "narcissist" and "psychopath" / "sociopath" and "obsessive-compulsive" and "sex addict" and all that when, really, these are all incredibly insulting to those with personality disorders. another thing to keep in mind is that not everybody shares the same traits or symptoms or habits when it comes to sharing disorders. this is why it's so important to do your research on these topics. go to various medical websites, read articles, read / watch interviews on people with said personality disorders. don't just come to conclusions and assume things just because of one article you read or that DSM-V book sitting right next to you. do. your. research.
with that being said, here are a couple of websites you guys should totally look into when it comes to learning more about personality disorders:
Mayo Clinic / APA / Cleveland Clinic / Psycom / NIMH / Psychology Today / Very Well Mind
i also recommend websites like YouTube to watch personal videos / interviews on how people live with their personality disorders on a day-to-day basis. another website that is incredibly useful is Library Genesis because you can actually download various psychology books, textbooks, and the likes.

Can we also add...
Psychopath: a term no longer used as of DSM-V. Formally used to describe someone with a disorder that affects someones perception or conception of reality, later used to describe someone who was "to dangerous" to allow to live in society.
What it's not: a normal seeming person who secretly is a consciousless monster.
Sociopath: a partner term for the latter definition of psychopath that describes someone who can support themselves but "puts too much strain on society" to be allowed to live freely. Also no longer used.
What it's not: another word for psychopath.
Both of these are used in ableists speech but are most frequently used, even by mental health professionals who should know better, to describe Empathy Deficit Disorder. Thousands manage this disorder without being "dangerous".
A lot of pop psychology gets thrown around and since I already have a headache, here's preventing you lot from making it worse.
Love-bombing: A manipulation tactic of increasing affection and grand gestures before or after doing something abusive, specifically to weasel one's way out of consequences.
What it is not: A streak of affection and generosity towards friends/loved ones.
Trauma-bonding: Knowingly traumatizing someone to take advantage of their vulnerable state, to then act like the "hero" or the one who cheers them up.
What it is not: Bonding over similar traumas.
Gaslighting: *Knowingly* convincing someone they cannot trust their own perception of a situation in pursuit of one's own narrative.
What it is not: Misaligned perception of events.
Narcissist: Someone afflicted with Narcissistic Personality Disorder, a traumagenic cluster B disorder, that struggles with self-obsession, paranoia, craving validity from the public, delusions of grandeur, and social disconnection.
It is not: Your rubbish ex that cheated on you.
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

Is the psychopathic narcissist, Elon Musk not an apartheid South African immigrant to the USA?
By Stanley Collymore
Hardly surprising then that this racist an utterly self-control and sociopathic moron is backing a likeminded cretin Donald Drumpf! An equally racist cretin, and similarly simply a first generation American actually born in the USA purely by accident when his yellow-belly father, and his mother already pregnant with him were both effectively kicked out of their German state when Donald Drumpf senior - the yellow-bellied cunt that he was - simply cowardly - did all he could to avoid military service in his own country's armed forces! Spinning a quite woeful, but lying tale, and with his wife heavily pregnant, and literally really not wanting, to leave her country for the USA, that she thoroughly disliked, was   nevertheless effectively clearly pressured into moving there, when her spouse's sob story got them, their requisite entrance to the USA, and where Donald Jnr was born.
A right prat and odious coward like his own father who became an active member of the Ku Klux Klan on entering the USA, Donald Jr. followed dad both on this path and similarly also militarily, when he obviously quite successfully pulled every stunt which he actually could to avoid being essentially drafted, into any branch of the USA Armed Forces! Hasn't stopped him, however from effectively being distinctively very obviously the most pretentious mother fucking patriot, America has ever seen; and to his obviously sick mind, seemingly more so than basically, even George Washington   himself! Since crucially this patently prized cunt, Donald will most certainly defend the USA, like the blatant coward that he still is, to the very last drop basically of someone else's blood, but never literally his own! As will the vile apartheid shit-bag Elon Musk!
(C) Stanley V. Collymore 6 October 2024.
Author's Remarks: Trust me!  Realistically Donald has no chance of winning. Basically, and likewise evidently as well decent Americans obviously despite him as well as his  discernibly, intellectually challenged, cult sycophants; as so-called and rather pathetic too MAGA, Donald's braindead followers are literally in essence nothing more than a truly despicable and delusional bunch of hard-core morons, who essentially infest with their presence the actual American population!
Prats who are diametrically opposed to as quite antithetical to the values that the USA was truly founded upon. So rest assured that significantly so decent Americans will never again allow this German pillock, Donald Drumpf aided and quite abetted by his pathetic apartheid South African compulsive attention seeker Elon Musk, to ever befoul the White House again!
So go on Kamala and Tim in conjunction with the plethora of decent Americans, and clearly show the USA and world what being actually decent politicians is all about. And specifically to the American people and specifically those that constitute the electorate, don't let this vile criminal Donald Drumpf, alias Trump, cynically use you to save his criminal ass from honestly being incarcerated in jail where he belongs, and for a very long time! So roll on Election Day!

I fucking wanna either die or live as a hermit.
Needy diagnosis my ass you fuckwads (my ex therapists who dropped me), I don't want any sort of human interaction anymore unless its to advance me professionally or out of convenience... because you know what? Fuck it? People only want me when they can use me. They never cared about me so why should I care about people?
I know no one cares about what I write so here is my confession. I am going full sociopath now. And not in the edgy 14 yo wannabe way. Like, clinical traits.
(Before you start at me, sociopath/psycopath is not an official diagnosis in the DSM-V, its only used in criminal psychology, it's just that the closets thing in the DSM-V is ASPD)
So yeah.
I was raised by literal people with NPD, so I know the ropes. It doesn't sound out of the water to develope psychopathic traits... maybe I'll never have the full on brain of a sociopath/psychopath but I can sure as hell develop the traits, such as developing less empathy/remorse.
Seeing most people as tools and stop caring about others etc.
Aka I don't care about you and how shitty/useless you think I am bc guess what? I don't care about you either! I don't care about anyone but myself now! So suck a dick

It was a really good show about Reggaeton and friendship.
To have a good time watching it.
I really liked Mia's and Gina's character.
Gina made me think about Teresa in Queen of the South.
Some quotes :
"- I came to you because you're my cousin. I thought I had the job. (Santi) - Wish I could, but I'm not the only partner here. (Santi's cousin) - Nepotism don't hit like it used to. (Santi) - Nepotism is why you're here in the first place." (Santi's cousin - Episode 3)
"- If you wanna manage Santi, you have to become a million versions of yourself to get what you want. It's not about making yourself smaller, it's about tricking people into thinking they're bigger." (Mia - Episode 4)
"- You may be a sociopath but you're not fucked. (Felix) - Felix, what the fuck? You're supposed to be stalling Oscar. (Mia) - What the fuck with you? How about, "Thanks, Felix, for helping me with one of my psychopathic ruses"?" (Felix - Episode 5)
"- What are you gonna do? (Felix) - Do the healthy, adult thing and ignore it until it goes away." (Ness - Episode 6)
"- Shit... (Santi) - I don't have much time 'cause I'm gonna have a v-steam pretty soon, but I wanna enter a mutually beneficial yet completely artificial relationship with you. A PR relationship. I wanna fake-date you, bro. (Isa) - Are you serious? (Santi) - Oh, yeah, I don't do comedy. It's not good for my face. Look, it's really a no-brainer for you. Your profile blows up. And all you have to do is come with me to parties and industry events and royal funerals, stuff like that. (Isa) - Okay, I... I'm so sorry. But, like, why do you choose me out of everyone because you could sort of have anyone that you want, right? (Santi) - Yeah. Well, according to my team, I need to tap into my Latina identity. (Isa) - Okay. So you're, like, using me? For, like, cultural appropriation? (Santi) - Oh, my God, no. How could you say that? I'm Latina. I can't use my own people. (Isa) - Right. Um, so then what do... What do I get out of this whole thing? (Santi) - Well, what do you want? (Isa) - I just want to be proud of myself. (Santi) - Ew, shut the fuck up. What do you really want? (Isa) - I mean, if I'm being honest, I just... I want to be like... Like one of the greats, like..." (Santi - Episode 6)
"- But, um, we should be cautious because this does feel weird. This feels, like, super easy. Like, too easy. (Ness) - No, things are just easy if you're rich and successful, Ness. That's, like, the whole thin about being rich and successful. Or are we suddenly too good for capitalism?" (Felix) - You hate capitalism. (Ness) - Not anymore. I'm rich now." (Felix - Episode 6)
"- Thank you. My followers are used to a certain standard of content." (Isa - Episode 6)
"- Like, is this really what you wanna do? Or I feel like you think I'm a villain, and not in a trendy way. I'm really envious of that. And I'm not envious often, obviously." (Isa - Episode 6)
"- You haven't even seen my latest trick. You wanna hear about it? (Javier) - Yeah. (Mia) - Tell me if you fuck with it. I pick somebody out of the audience. I make them disappear, but here's the twist, I don't bring them back." (Javier - Episode 7)
"- You can go ahead, ma' am. (Bouncer) - For real? (Mia) - I feel bad for you. That was really hard to watch." (Bouncer - Episode 7)
"- This fight is so basic. I get that you're mad, but please don't be selfish. (Santi) - Yeah, I am writer, remember? I'm here working. Somebody's gotta tell the normies what goes on inside the party of the year." (Felix - Episode 7)
"- Felix, bro, breaking up with you in the seventh grade is one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life. Because now you get to be somebody that's in my life forever, not just some guy that I dry-humped in the middle school. Felix, you're an irreplaceable person and I love you." (Ness - Episode 7)
"- You don't think I could pick up Isa? (Santi) - No, I don't, actually. But I do think you can figure out what type of children she harvests to make her skin look so good." (Felix - Episode 7)
"- I'm sorry. I thought that we wanted.... (Santi) - We did, but we can't. Santi, please, desperation is not a good look. Want it less." (Isa - Episode 7)
"- Why would I be jealous about the song? The song fucking sucks and I warned you. You're selling out and screwing all of us over. (Ness) - It was the truth. Like, you guys are my corillo and I'm sorry that it took so long to realize the shit that I knew my whole entire life." (Santi - Episode 8)
"- Cabrón, figure it out. You're the creative director, right? Then create!" (Javier - Episode 8)
"- Talk to you when I talk to you." (Javier - Episode 8)
"- I can't believe I thought she was actually starting to like me. You told me this was gonna happen and I didn't listen to you. (Santi) - Okay, it's no fun to say, "I told you so," if you cop to it first." (Ness - Episode 8)
"- This better fucking work. (Ness) - It will. Or it won't. It very conceivably could not work. It likely will fail. But either way, thank you." (Felix - Episode 8)
"- So what good is the Internet loving you if you can never work again? On top of that, we owe Gina at least 400 grand. Trying to lighten the mood. It's not a disaster. It's close." (Felix - Episode 8)

The OP was quoting the first two paragraphs of the May 17, 2024 New Republic article by Eric Alterman. The full article is available via the link immediately above.
Tumblr media
Here is the next paragraph:
Consider just a few of Trump’s qualities that quite recently would have disqualified him in the eyes of all responsible voices in the discourse. I have no room to do justice to even a fraction, so I’ll have to stick to just keywords: insurrectionist; election denier; pathological liar; corrupt; racist; antisemite; (digital) rapist; serial adulterer; Islamophobe; con man; tax cheat; patsy to dictator; wannabe dictator; isolationist; bully; psychopathically narcissist; sociopath; almost certainly medically demented. We all know I could go on. (I haven’t even mentioned the Democrats’ single best issue: Trump’s proud boast that he was able to “kill Roe v. Wade.”)
“With democracy itself on the line, the 2024 election will almost certainly be the nation’s most consequential since 1860. It will also be the weirdest. There are two fundamental facts about this campaign that do not appear to be making much of an impact on what, at least today, seems to be close to a majority of the electorate. The first and more obvious one is that few people in history have ever been less qualified to hold a position of any responsibility, much less the most powerful position in the world, than Donald Trump. If elected, he will certainly deploy that power to destroy virtually everything Americans have historically held dear about the nation’s democratic traditions. The second, less obvious, but no less objective fact is that Joe Biden has been a remarkably good president. Not everything has worked out, and one can certainly disagree with many of his decisions. His embrace of Bibi Netanyahu has clearly had disastrous consequences for Israel, Gaza, the United States, and likely for his own reelection prospects. But in terms of the way presidents are traditionally measured, Biden has been a smash. The U.S. economy is the envy of the world. Yes, inflation is higher than one would like, but jobs are plentiful, and so are raises for the people in them; wages are rising faster than inflation, as it happens. Violent crime is way down. Infrastructure investments are way up since 2020. Student loans are being forgiven. The labor movement is rebounding. We are leading the world in defending democracy in Ukraine. And yet, the danger of a Trump takeover remains as high as ever.”

Just ranting abt horror tropes and how I am picky
Love how that layout change kicked me more into spooky mood again but man I fucking hate how much ableism is in horror movies. I forgot why I don't watch horror movies at like all since forever but adore horror in gen until I searched for ones without any ableist shit in them. If it isn't physical seen as creepy it's the narcissist/sociopath/psychopath villain trope and I want to start strangling producers. The last one I watched was skinamarink and that was like my first one in forever next to an old japanese one like two three years ago w a friend. Will prob rewatch otgw and some classic horror movies. Maybe when focus watch some anime w horror elements. Since like. Getting me to be scared is anyways hard nowadays I consume horror games all year round (albeit only through let's plays). Also idk if it just seems like that or if I got bad luck there but a lot I did want to check out bc of people saying how oh so brutal they are always got rape scenes when I checked which is an immediate no and I just I'm tired man. Also yes I like survival horror I like resident evil silent hill ofc I like a lot of horror game classics but like. Those aren't creepy imo. Those don't evoke the same fear. I want psychological fucked up horror cmon. Gore is cool and I do enjoy it but less in a creepy more in a "yay! ♡" way like sometimes murder makes me feral like an animal. Which is anything but being scared. Like I want to be the one murdering them I want to sink my teeth in and violently shake my head! If you can understand german the youtuber corrupted got pretty much the same taste as me. Back to movies and shows I think the problems also is I just prefer games way more. It's so different just watching people being in a situation vs having to control them maybe even having choices to dif endings and all (even just watching a let's player evokes it enough). Fear and hunger is amazing! 1 and 2! I watched the vods by cdawgva and the game has a neat story characters designs etc. But like. In regs to scary is it not what I exactly want. I bet if I would play myself would I dislike it bc I hate fighting and all. I think bc it touches on the psyche n all is it one I def like more but ig it's more the worldbuilding than the game itself? And then it's for me a yknow horror game but not a scary game. Idk how to explain it maybe a scary game is also just not possible for me and if that is the case then I mean? Fear and hunger nailed it a lot I think. I think I start to analyze automatically more than just let myself be spooked without my brain constantly thinking abt the setting. I mean I like a lot of horror rpg maker games bc of the story setting n all. I think I just enjoy what I enjoy but man is it a shame to only be scared once in a full moon nowadays. I think the suspense is v important? Joey said on a trash taste ep I watched yesterday how a lot of japanese movies nail it w you think there will be smth but then there's nothing so you are constantly on your guard. Maybe that's why if I do I usually watch japanese horror movies. Ik I def don't like when the hard stuff like immediately drops. Def hard to pick my horror taste apart oof.

idk if i'm gonna finish giving full thoughts on my sherlock rewatch but i did want to say that like. holy shit the way this show handles neurodivergence and mental illness is just...bad. it's just bad. and often has no idea of its implications. suicide is a tragedy (but also mostly a plot device) if the good guys do it. suicide is pretty much inconsequential (but also mostly a plot device) if the bad guys do it. addiction is either a punchline or a thing to yell at someone about (and also mostly a plot device) that comes and goes exactly as the plot needs it. and i could write a whole essay on the use/misuse of sociopath and psychopath on sherlock and mycroft.
but aside from all that, they made the series four villain a canonically psychotic person with heavily implied plurality who is depicted as an entirely unfeeling murderer who started killing barely out of toddlerhood because no one would play with her. it felt weird as a teenager but as an adult it just gave me an awful sinking feeling, specifically because in kind of a weird way, it was almost realistic. i'm so used to the sheer unrealism and stupidity of movies like split at this point that i barely bat an eye at them--like it still hurts but. whatever i guess. but this idea of eurus having sort of an alternate consciousness that's just a scared little girl, aww, but oops, that's the motivation for all the heartless murder she's committing and the fucking arson and psychological torture, sorry!
it just...it's very not good. it's simply not good, it is bad and terrible. this is not to say that people with psychosis or dissociative disorders or schizoaffective disorders etc are incapable of doing bad things, even that they are incapable of doing bad things affected or influenced by their disorders, but holy shit i am tired of media acting like they're the root of all evil and a reason for people to be capital v Villains. we're not fucking monsters. we're people whose minds protect and cope for us differently.

Psychoanalysis of Homelander of The Boys
Homelanders character in TV Show adaptation of comic series The Boys represents multiple things. One main one being the state of America but I am interested in talking about his character’s psychology. He represents the antagonist and it isn’t until season 3 where he is officially humanized. I will talk about how his psychopathy, narcissism, kinks and sexual identity has been shaped in an attempt to make this character more understood. There is no psychopath or sociopath diagnosis in the DSM-V that is because we have yet to answer if they are formed or born. These two traits fall under the disorder of ASPD (Antisocial Personality Disorder), but Homelander isn’t antisocial? That’s not exactly what it means, the main characteristics of this disorder are lack of empathy/ regard for safety for self and others, and tendency to lie because of this. It is not exactly known why psychos exist but studies have shown them having generally less activity in areas in the brain in charge of risk assessment and understanding empathy. It is this psychological difference that is believed to send people with psychopathic traits into the path of psychopathy. This is where the persons childhood matters.
Homelander grew up in a lab. Without parents to teach you positive morals and help a child with neurological differences understanding right and wrong and their actions impacts on others how will they learn? From experience. They will test their skills of manipulation and lying to get what they want and in the case of a superhero you can push this far. Not only is he not positively reinforced but in fact the opposite, he has tons asked of him which results in him taking matters into his own hands and doing whatever he can/needs to get it done.
A persons kinks can be formed in this same way. You can understand it as whatever a person is missing in their life they will make up for sexually. He never felt the warm loving energy of a mother so it is taken to the extreme in his love life to experience that lack of energy. S&M is the same, he feels superior, so he wants to challenge this in his sexual life. He wants to openly feel more powerful but also weaker than his partner because he can’t ever feel weak or even more importantly safely weak.
His sexual identity is different. This is something that if pent up and not addressed directly by a person it can fester into negativity. This isn’t directly seen but more indirectly. Homelander is a conservative figure in The Boys but doesn’t actually express conservative views that you’d expect. When he finds out Stormfront is a Nazi he doesn’t care because she sees and speaks about him as a god which he needs to hear. He doesn’t care for ideas of racism, he doesn’t care for ideas of sexuality, he cares for himself. So whether or not he is bisexual (which has been confirmed) doesn’t matter, it’s not an internal struggle coming to terms because he thinks it’s wrong. It is coming to terms with the fact that he can’t live his life for the American people because that turned him into a monster. This is in no way to empathize but rather to understand and see how self realization can lead to character/self development.
