PRE PLEASURE- Julia Jacklin
It feels very personal, almost like I am reading her journal
This is poetry, the meaning of each song is hidden behind metaphors and motifsĀ
The second track ā€œlove, try not to let goā€ flooded me with emotion. I didnā€™t know what to feel, the rhythmic beat caused an uproar and the somber piano followed behind to bring me down.
One line into ā€œtoo young to dieā€ and Iā€™m already hooked. I lost it, sobbing. This song is simply breathtaking. It makes me feel theĀ  purity of love, the ignorance of love. The feeling that love is a savior.Ā  Ā
While listening I started to make connections. The concept of love as a savior paired with the organ made me relate the song to the first track ā€œLydia wears a crossā€ where an interpersonal struggle with religion is explored. At first listen, it feels like the song is about a romantic love, but upon further reflection I believe it might be describing the love for "him" who is better known as God.
Less of a stranger - I connected with this song on an unearthly level. It explored the yearning to know the person that created you but knowing that at a point there is nothing you can do to make that connection happen not due to your own fault but the boundaries set by your mother. Your mother is a being, a soul that has roamed the earth finding herself before even thinking of having a child. To know who your mother is, is to know yourself. Sometimes it breaks my heart to know that, scientifically, I have been with my mother her whole life. Right before she was born the egg that would later form my body was created in her while connected to my grandmother. How can we spend our entire lives intertwined, yet not know each other.
I find myself restarting the songs to understand the piece with knowledge I gain from each line passed.
Overall, this is a gorgeous album sonically and lyrically. PRE PLEASURE is now on my "favorite albums" list

Skipping classes with Zandik post awakened something in me, lol. Imagine it, but with flagile!reader (yes I'm delulu so what)
At first reader feels a bit dizzy, but mostly fine and thinks it's because of Sumeru heat. Zandik is annoyed by you being slow, but you're lucky you befriended him, otherwise he'd abandon you in woods
As your condition worsens and he warms toward you, you faint while he fights Ruin Guard that he wanted to take apart and Zandik panics so much!!! He gets you to safety, so-so worried, before that happened you didn't realize how much he cares about you
Fragile!reader skips more and more classes because of your condition, but you don't get to spend your time alone. You tell Zandik to not skip classes, but he says he knows all the stuff they're teaching already. He may even become your personal tutor if you're interested, heh (or maybe he just doesn't want to leave you alone when you're so weak..)
YES YES OMGF EDBEDE IM DISINTEGRATING AHHHHH. Ugh him being cold and annoyed at you and then slowly warming up to you is so <333 PERFECT. It's fascinating to look back on his transformation to you... like the guy who's letting you sit in his lap all cuddly was the same one who threatened or ignored you every minute hundreds of years ago šŸ˜
The fragile reader angst/fluff... you're scared of being a burden to him especially after you made it this far, but the fact he's still here (a bit begrudgingly) makes you a bit relieved that he likes you a little bit at least. But you never thought you'd ever see an expression like that on his face - panic. You don't even know if you were hallucinating it from your tiredness, but it felt so real. So real that even Zandik couldn't fake it even if he wanted to. You don't wake up in the forest but rather in your bed. Then it all escalates when you realize he skipped out on his valuable research time to come back and take care of !!! you !!! And he continues to do so despite your protests!! Checking on your condition and paying more attention to it than you. For some reason seeing you weak and defenseless, a stark contrast from your usual self, makes him feel upset and irritated. You don't know whether your face is warm from being sick or from blushing.
He's genuinely surprised at his reaction too, he didn't think he'd react so strongly, probably thinks he's sick at first too until he finds out he's not. (He finds out later he's in l-l-ov- nevermind, he refuses to admit it)
Tutor Zandik is the kind of guy to use the most drastic analogies when explaining stuff to you- idk how but he uses dead bodies and things along that line šŸ˜ (Oddly it still makes sense... strange)

@donut1642: ship [pharma and jazz] to confuse people
oh i could totally do that. concept: at the same time pharma is pre-canon working at the New Institute, Jazz as a spec-ops person passes through needing an emergency patch up despite normally avoiding the NI because he's argued a hundred times with high command about it needing to be shut down. Jazz takes a shine to Pharma and tries to persuade him to leave because it's clearly wearing him down. Pharma is refusing because the NI has a lot more mnemosurgeons doing crimes than it does like, actual doctors patching up whoever passes through. they maintain an on-off-again thing because Jazz refuses to stop comming him asking to meet up whenever he exploits his clearance to find out when Pharma has shore leave, which results in a very ambivalent mid-war long distance not-quite-relationship. Jazz is one day gonna find out that when all that shit started at Delphi, Pharma didn't comm and tell him despite it being a very obvious course of action if he needed emergency backup, and it's going to drive him insane forever not knowing why.
(disclaimer: trying to work out the exact status of the NI in relation to who knew it was re-established, when it happened, etc is in fact notoriously a fucking mess, and i therefore reserve to right to not care about those details too much.)

The victory of the Netanyahu coalition and its bigoted worldview would have consequences not just throughout space, but also throughout time. For starters, it would retrospectively alter the meaning of the entire history of the state of Israel. Herzl, the founding father of modern Zionism, identified bigotry as an existential danger to Zionism already more than a century ago. In his 1902 book ā€œThe Old New Land,ā€ in which Herzl envisioned the future state of Israel, he prophesied the rise of an imaginary party, led by Rabbi Geyer, that claims that Jews are superior to non-Jews and deserve special privileges. Herzlā€™s book warned readers that Geyer is ā€œa blasphemer,ā€ deviating from Jewish values. Herzl severely criticized the idea that Jews are superior to other humans and deserve special privileges in the future state. His envisioned state was meant to serve as a national home for the Jewish people, but to give equal rights to all its inhabitants. Herzl wrote, ā€œWe do not ask to what race or religion a man belongs. If he is a man, that is enough for us.ā€ Herzl feared that if Jews were tempted by Geyerā€™s ideas, this would destroy their state. The duty of the Jews, Herzl wrote, is to support ā€œliberality, tolerance, love of mankind. Only then is Zion truly Zion! ā€¦ But if you choose a Geyer man, you will not deserve to have the sun of our Holy Land shine upon you.ā€ This was Herzlā€™s prophecy in 1902.

Hi!! I was really interested in your point of view regarding the pre fall scene, I haven't seen anyone talk about it in that way before. Why / how does it change their relationship?
To me, what makes the whole of Aziraphale and Crowley's relationship so meaningful is that these are two old, supernatural beings whose entire (love) story takes place on Earth. They met, they made their homes, they fell in love, all of this on Earth. And that's just the foundation of their relationship and story to me.
For Aziraphale, this means that Crowley-the-demon is the ONLY version of Crowley that he's known. In Eden, he lifts up his wing over Crowley to shield him from the rain and this scene is so impactful because it's an angel reaching out and protecting this demon he just met, someone who should be his enemy, right after the Fall of Man. It comes from Aziraphale's kindness alone. Season 2's pre-Fall scene cheapens this by having Crowley protect Aziraphale first, which just makes it seem like in Eden Aziraphale is just repaying the favor.
In season one, when Aziraphale says "you were an angel once," it is meant as this nebulous thing. All demons were once angels, he means. All demons have the capacity to be good. Aziraphale is in denial that Heaven is anything but Good, but he at least is aware that Heaven doesn't hold the monopoly on it. After season 2's pre-Fall scene, this changes the context to "I remember what you were like in Heaven, and you could be that again." And this is enforced when Aziraphale, in season two, says "I know the angel that you were." Which leaves such a fucking bad taste in my mouth.
Aziraphale does not believe that Crowley is good because he was an angel once. He knows Crowley is good because ever since he met this demon on the walls of Eden, Crowley has expressed sympathy with the plight of humanity and has done what he can to help, even when it puts him in direct danger from Hell.
Before season 2 came out, when we just had the book and season one to go off, the Eden scene was Aziraphale and Crowley's first meeting. Period. We could play around in the sand-box of "what if they did know each other before the Fall?" and it was fun! I liked some of those fics! But I never wanted it to be canon because I always felt deeply that that just isn't what Aziraphale and Crowley's story is about.
And you could say, well, I like the pre-Fall scene because it shows that Aziraphale has known every version of Crowley, but he prefers this version, the demon with yellow snake eyes who does good and tries to hide it. And that's a fair interpretation! But I still think that it's just making the best of what we've got.
Crowley and Aziraphale treasure earth and humanity so deeply. I think that their story should start on earth, watching over the humans they love so much. That's the story I prefer.

I've already had to unfollow people. Dragon age is so back.
I'm going to be so honest right now- at this point, I've already filtered the "critical" tags from my dash. I've also unfollowed people, and blocked some others, if only to stop their posts from being reblogged onto my dash by otherwise well-meaning people.
I refuse to have a repeat of 2016, when I was borderline harassed, people were coming to my inbox to vent about how they feel alienated and unappreciated by their communities because they play a fictional dwarf in a stupid game, and I was scrolling past the exact same waifish elven mage character (made somehow always by different people) over and over and over again.
We will not have that this time around. I refuse. I'm going to have a good fucking time, and I'm curating a space that I enjoy, for myself.
People are free to have the same discursive conversations and post the solipsistic monologues we've already seen a thousand times over the past decade, they can re-run the same skits and rehearse the same song and dance all they want, but I'm just not willing to go back to entertaining an all-around flaccid circlejerk where everyone is furiously yanking their own knob, and nobody has fun or is excited to be doing what they're doing.

Lamia
Artist: John William Waterhouse (English, 1849ā€“1917)
Date: 1905
Media: Oil on canvas
Collection: Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki, Auckland, New Zealand
Description
Early in his careerĀ WaterhouseĀ painted Graeco-Roman subjects in the manner of Alma-Tadema. However, he was later drawn to the romantic Pre-Raphaelite style, painting the Arthurian legends popularised by poets such as Tennyson. Lamia (a second version painted in 1905 is privately owned in London) was inspired by Keatsā€™ celebrated poem of 1820, about a bridegroom who discovers on his wedding night that his bride is a monstrous half-serpent who preys on young men. As such, she is a classic femme fatale.
