Hello author its me the on who requested the Love after death in both part and the others... I finally have courage to reveal muself and no longer anonymous.

First of all before i request another one (sorry for being greedy) i wanted to thank you for responding to my requests especially the angsty ones, you never failed me to give a comfort and motivation, i cannot thank you enough for that.

And now for my request if you remember my other request about ei reader x ror characters that you can't write due to being unfamiliar to the character?

I will ask you instead to write a ror x demi godess freader. She commonly use a weapon like lu bu when fighting but once her weapon breaks or she found a very strong opponent she use her katana. She summon it like in the gif in below.

Now the fun part is how would the ror charcters react? Would they ended up having a nosebleeds, ended up shy or tease them?

Ahh~ my sweet love, your angsty requests have been so much fun to write! I don’t mind you asking for another, you’re not being greedy, I’m just happy that you are patient while I write all these requests plus my own original works.

I do have one question however….

Why in the world does she have a sword between her titties?! I actually looked this up and watched the scene where she does this, and I’m just flabbergasted that she had it there!

-As a demi-goddess, you had the choice of fighting for either side, as both Zeus and Brunnhilde had approached you to fight, both knowing your skills as a fighter.

-You were initially going to refuse both of them, but after Zeus tried to command you, while Brunnhilde asked you, you chose to fight for humanity, not liking being commanded to do anything, something Zeus regrets as he lost a good fighter because he was so pushy with you!!

-Your opponent was strong, which excited you, as that meant you didn’t have to hold back!

-You swung your halberd with ease, and your opponent, Kand, a minor earth god, managed to snap the blade clean off, breaking your halberd.

-The other fighters and the audience in attendance called out in worry for you, as they didn’t want to lose someone like you, beautiful, powerful, and smart, you really were the whole package.

-Kand laughed at you, pointing a finger at you while he held his belly, “Can you still fight me Y/N?! Now that I’ve broken your only weapon!!”

-You glared and brought your hands up to your chest, “Who said that was my only weapon?”

-What could only be described as a black hole, opened at the top of your chest, on your cleavage, as you tilted your head back.

-A sword began to emerge from the black hole, glowing brightly as your hand lifted to the handle.

-Your eyes snapped open, glowing with power as you pulled out a beautiful katana from the magic black hole between your breasts, clutching it as the light faded.

-Kand was gawking, pointing rudely as his eyes were wide, “Where the heck did that come from?!”

-You charged at him, fast enough that it looked like you disappeared, before reappearing behind him as he fell, his head rolling off his shoulders.

-You pouted lightly, “It’s rude to ask a lady questions like that.”

-The crowds went wild, roaring loudly.

-Thor- Was stunned on how quickly the match ended, able to see that your katana was your true weapon, you were good with the halberd, but there was something natural about you holding a sword. He blinked once or twice, confused on how you were hiding that sword.

-Poseidon- Eyes widened only just slightly before relaxing as he watched you pull your sword out, before his amusement grew with how easily you took care of that weaker, cocky god. It made him curious about how strong you actually were.

-Shiva- Immediately turned to his wives, who were cheering for you, “Can you really hide stuff in your chest like that?” they just giggled, like they had a secret as Parvati spoke, “That’s a woman only secret~” but all three were impressed with your skills.

-Rudra- Eyes went wide when your halberd broke, but when the sword started to emerge from your chest, his jaw dropped, mouth hanging open before you pulled that out, completely stunned on where you got that sword!

-Buddha- Smirked, moving his lollipop to the other side of his mouth, finding it alluring and could instantly tell that your sword was your true weapon as you ended the fight so quickly after pulling it out. Then had to ruffle Zerofuku’s hair after the boy asked him if he had anything like that between his chest.

-Zerofuku- Was confused as to why you had a sword between your chest. He looked up at Buddha who had a big chest, wondering if he had anything between his own which got his hair ruffled by the taller god.

-Beelzebub- Was more intrigued with the magic that appeared there first, curious as to what it was. Froze, eyes wide when he saw you pulling the sword from your body, unable to look away.

-Loki- Looking disrespectfully, gawking with his tongue lolled out, full blush on his face as he could only gawk in awe. He wanted to get a closer look~

-Zeus- Cheering loudly, leading the charge of the cheers of the arena. He had never seen anything like it and he was so excited!!

-Ares- His whole head was bright red, staring shamelessly, blood dripping from his nose as he couldn’t believe what he just watched, gripping the arms of the chair tightly.

-Hermes- Amused by Ares’ reaction just a bit more, but was stunned with the magic that you used and even more so when he saw how big the actual sword was.

-Aphrodite- Giggled softly, hiding her mouth behind her hand, amused to see the reactions of others, but as a large chested woman herself, she knew well that any woman could hide things between or under her boobs, like knives~

-Hercules- Lifted a hand to his face to hide his blush, embarrassed to stare at you in such a way, but couldn’t take his eyes off of you, especially when you handled your opponent so easily.

-Kojiro- His face was bright red, watching you pull that from your chest, but he immediately focused on your form, his eyes widening as he saw you move, being one of a handful that was able to keep up with your moves.

-Jack- Was staring before he started, his cheeks warming as he turned, being a gentleman, not wanting to gawk at a young lady such as yourself in such a way. Was impressed with your skills with the sword however.

-Lu Bu- Could sense the power radiating from you, a feral grin appearing on his lips, wanting to fight you himself. However, he was one of the few that wasn’t bothered where you had your sword stashed.

-Chen Gong- Unlike his lord, as soon as you pulled that sword out he flew back, blood spurting from his nose, twitching on the ground. He didn’t even see the end of the fight.

-Raiden- A bright grin on his face as he watched you pull your weapon out, delight on his face as he found it attractive, “What a woman!” cheered loudly with the rest of the crowd.

-Qin Shi Huang- A bright smile on his face as he watched the scene, amazed by the magic that had appeared, wanting to know more about it, but very pleased watching the show.

-Adam- The time from when you pulled your sword out to being announced the winner was only about five seconds, but he was instantly glaring, exerting his pressure to those around him as he glared at them, ready to throw hands and lay waste to those who would say anything impure about his precious daughter!!

Bat bio donors

So Catherine Todd, unfortunately, wasn't Jason's bio mom, even if she was his mom in every other way that matters. Embezzler, child trafficker, and Joker associate Shelia Haywood was his biological mother...probably.

There was no DNA test so I remain unconvinced.

That being said, I see no acceptable evidence that Willis Todd was Jason's bio father. (And if there is, shhh, don't care)

Yes Bruce could be his bio dad but boring, be more creative!

For example, someone else who's based in Gotham, who might have a fling and not follow up on it for very whatever reason, and who might be the namesake of our favorite gun wielding bat: Jason Bood. Yes Shelia, if she is the mother, may have put Willis on the birth certificate, but there's nothing to say that she didn't have an evening with a man with a charming accent, considerable experience, and a rather two faced nature.

Or perhaps someone who is a tiny bit less volatile such as David Cain.

Or honestly there's enough weirdness in Gotham that Jason's other bio donor was Nocturna, the woman who would later want to adopt him while he was Robin and she was, in fact, though she didn't know it, trying to get her own bio child.

Furthermore, Bruce as Tim Drake's bio donor, yes, good, understandable, likely even.

However, there are other options, for example:

Janet spends a great deal of time going around the world and with various artifacts, some of these artifacts could be magical in nature. That magic may have various effects on the average person and one of the more popular things that people in ancient times sought revolved around fertility control, to improve or prevent. Janet might trip over more than a few artifacts designed to improve fertility, let's say even to the point that some who might not normally be able to sire children might in fact be capable of doing so with Janet while she's still under the influence of such magic, such as:

Lady Shiva who admires Janet's ability to handle both a growing business and her academic pursuits.

Ra's Al Ghul who came by for an artifact and had a fling with the lady who found it mostly because why not? Yes if Tim ever found out, or Ra's ever found out, it would result in considerable mental distress, but it could also be hilarious. Flip a coin to decide if this would make Talia want Tim dead more or less than she already does.

Some ancient god who's essentially mortal at this point and has been clinging to existence by the thinnest thread and really the only reason their name is known at this point is because it was in a letter about very bad copper. Tim receives no benefits from this parent except above average endurance and healing which is how he's survived. He's also as stubborn as the nameless god that's hung on for four thousand or so years.

Gotham itself is Tim's bio donor and this is why tiny baby stalker Tim didn't die a thousand times over while he was taking pictures, Gotham was looking out for their son.

Then there's Cassandra, "one who is all" who may or may not be Shiva's daughter.

Honestly for Shiva and for Talia, given the danger they put themselves in and the stress that pregnancy can do to a body, plus the necessary time to heal properly afterwards, the canon where Damian is grown in a tube makes sense and I wouldn't be surprised if Shiva took a page from Talia's book.

Shiva as the mother of "one who is all" can make sense. The other bio donor, well, let's look at other options.

Slade perhaps? He's had quite a few remarkable children, and can handle none of them, but that wouldn't stop him from being a candidate.

If you're a fan of wuxia or xianxia novels, look for or make up some ancient cultivator that Shiva sought out for training perhaps and on that strength Cassandra can pick up cultivation and become that much more awesome, maybe even teach it to her brothers.

Or someone can be related to or connected to a Lamont Crantson and see if they can step out of his Shadow.

Dick's bio parents were freakin' awesome so jumping over him and also leaving Duke's parentage alone though more distant ancestors for either of them, such as great-great grandmothers or grandfathers might be interesting. Dick has a Talon in the family tree but who else might be hanging around in there?

For example, Santa is real in the dc universe. Tim and his team could have witnessed the death of Dick's maternal great-great-great-great grandpa.

As for Duke, if his family has been in Gotham for longer than a generation, there've got to be some serious weirdos in his bloodline, maybe a lesser known Talon or Queen Mab.

Damian not being the son of Bruce and Talia would be a serious blow to the kid and not worth it. Giving him blood siblings is more fun. He already has a problem learning to share his dad with his adopted siblings, sharing with blood siblings would be good for him.

Stephanie? An additional dad option would probably give her some sort of mental crisis since she originally based her vigilante career on defeating her deadbeat, second rate rogue father. It would be interesting and honestly a little hilarious though if her mother had a fling with Oliver Queen.

Tim Drake HC if he never became robin

(Let's face it, no way he was normal. the brain rot is real)

He was thirteen when Jason died, and he was getting pretty concerned for Bruce, but also getting really off put by the violence becuase batman was never that violent

This pretty much culminates in THE INCIDENT

Tim isn't even taking pictures that night, he had after school detention, and because he knew gotham so well, was decently more muscular then the average person and very fast, he was taking his time

He watches batman almost kill someone. The man will never be able to walk again.

He calls the police, and continues hiding and following Bruce, because something was going on, and lets face it, he didn't really have any plans.

He doesn't know this, but lady shiva is in gotham, and doing the same thing

It turns out theres a villan AND hero intervention going on, where clark may or may not be guilt tripping bruce HARD into getting help

However, before Tim can trail him to the intervention, someone catches his eye

He's not that well dressed, Suit looks nice-ish, but the tie is obviously thrifted, and his watch is a little too good (classic signs of working for a gang, intimidation, spurts of money, clearly not knowing how to spend smart)

Tim decides that this is more important. Plus, what's he going to do tailing batman? Get caught while not even doing anything? No thank you

It turns out that guy worked falcon, and long story short, Tim ends up fighting a bunch of gang members in a wearhouse.

He takes out around half before, Oh lookie there, its batman, and he's rescheduled his intervention till the morning.

Tim is proper injured, a few good bruises and a couple generously bleeding cuts.

Then, because batman is fighting everyone in the warehouse, not just goons, because he doesn’t know what Tim is doing there, skewers him to the wall with a batarang.

Tim pretends to be knocked out but is going what the fuck batman inside his head

Shiva, who has been watching this entire encounter, and was very impressed by someone with little to no formal training goes and drops down menacingly from the rafters

She offers to train Tim and he's like sure ;-;

They go back to paris, and just to say, Tim's parents aren't just MIA. They straight up moved out of gotham and keep limated contact with tim, just making sure CPS doesn't get them into legal trouble

Tims fine with that too

So, in paris, Tim and lady shiva are kicking ass. Tim is learning to play dirty but also gains a strict code

He's very clear that he wont kill anyone, and that he believes keeping them alive is a sign of strength. that he wasn't so weak that killing them was his only option

They disagree but eventually Tim's pretty good at combat and Shiva sends him on his marry way (he beats her in a fight by drugging some food she ate four days prior and wouldn't set in until she was testing him)

Tim starts moonlighting league of assassins, just doing whatever really, and finds out the holly shit, Talia had a thing for bruce and his dead hero jason, brought jason back to life, send him and their secret love child to gotham, and also disrespected Ra's

He thinks shes so cool, and decides to drop by gotham, yk go home, throw in a public appearance with his parents, try the new zelda game

TURNS OUT HIS PARENTS DIE ON THE WAY OVER, ON HIS FOURTEENTH BIRTHDAY

What the flip man, says Tim, on live television, reading a text finding out his parents are dead.

He doesn't say what the text was about though, so the people of gotham make a twitter meme about some rando kid at a gala

The whole things kinda a disaster anyway, so its fine (its later known as The Gala of [insert year])

Dick Grayson just got back from traveling (space) and finds out Jason and Dami are alive/exist, and tries hiding in the back, ending up in the same room as Tim

He says sagely, not looking up from his phone. Dick doesn't really know how to respond to that but ask more questions. "How- uh how did they die?"

rating record of ragnarok characters /10, because i can.

DISCLAIMER: i’m only rating the characters based off what the manga & anime has portrayed. i’ve done little to no research on these people themselves, which is why i don’t condone anything immoral that they’ve done. this was written before the release of chapter 73+

a/n: i think i wanna do this for every anime + genshin & val. PLS WATCH IT & LMK IF YOU GUYS LIKE IT. also i dont care abt grammatical and/or punctual errors, this is a shit post

MANGA SPOILER WARNING!!

THOR: first of all, he’s so fucking hot. his smile caught me so off guard tho, i kinda just stood there watching the screen, baffled. not much character to him, he’s just hot. 7/10

LU BU: i’m chinese, i literally feel so happy when i see chinese characters. biased, but definitely a plus. he, just like thor, has little to no character. first character i called hot, is hot, but there are hotter characters. (what, i am not talking abt hermes wdym?) 7/10

HERMES: 10/10. no explanation. my man right there. i literally scream & cream every time i see him. why is he so fine. not a single panel or clip where he looks bad. pls eat me out, sir i beg. i will serve you. ONE CHANCE. JUST ONE?? i’m in love with him. who needs real men or women when hermes.

GOLL: she is SO ANNOYING. her eng & jp voice are both annoying asl. she’s that one character, that exists in mostly every anime, used to explain background info & battle info on other characters. brunhilde is too nice on her. she reminds me of when i first saw yachi (haikyuu) on screen. yachi, too, was annoying. but i grew to love her🫶. 1/10

BRUNHILDE: SHES SO HOT. ATE. SHE ALDNAHDISKZ. yeah, what else is there to say? 8/10

APHRODITE: she truly lives up to her version in the greek mythology. hottest woman/goddess alive. ate. her boobs, i want to squish them & bury my face in them. WHEN IS IT MY TURN TO HOLD THEM? 8/10

ZEUS: idgaf what anyone says, he’s not hot. not even his younger self. he looks like mirio (mha) turned netero (hxh). love his character tho. the eyes scared me at first. he’s hilarious. 5/10

ADAM: my friend, the one who recommended snv to me, told me he’d be more my type. he was, minus the fact that’s he literally butt fucking naked. nice ass cheeks tho. def pretty boy, his wife is hot too. i want her more😋. his line abt fighting for his children made me cry. should’ve won. i say, let hermes be uncleless & fatherless. 7/10

POSEIDON: he was fs the blueprint for adam. anywho, yk hes fine. SOOO FINE. meowing for him. he doesn’t beat hermes tho. nobody beats hermes. well, look wise at least. it was rlly hard choosing who to root for in this fight. that’s a lie, i was always on humanity’s side. sad he died:( 9/10. -1 for being a little, arrogant, narcissistic, egotistical bitch. 8/10

SASAKI KOJIRO: see, zeus coulda been hot like him at that old age. man aged like fine wine. character was a W. hot, determined, good character, funny. what else can you want from a man? 8/10

HERACLES: disappointed. so disappointed. he looked better in the disney ver. this fight was so boring for me. you’re telling me i’m supposed to watch the fight instead of ogling at hot characters? no. character was okay. 6/10

JACK THE RIPPER: massive L. not supporting a murderer. next. 0/10

SHIVA: hot from the beginning. 4 arms? do what you want to me, sir. 3 WIVES? tengen (kny), is that you bro?😭 anywho, he’s cocky, def my type irl LMAO. i wouldn’t let that slide tho.. his wives are hot too😋 8/10

RAIDEN TAMEEMON: i paid very little attention to this fight. don’t remember his backstory too well (i read this fight not even 24 hours ago btw). not that good looking, not ugly either. i liked his character, upset he took 3 of shiva’s arms. why 3? why not 2? he got 1 arm left. 4/10

BUDDHA: THATS MY GOD RIGHT THERE. ate. i’m not religious, and neither are my family, but they are buddhist, so by default, i am too. i personally think buddhism is the best religion, but we’re not gonna get into that. i have very valid reasons btw. love his personality, love his looks. massive W. ofc he fights for humanity. he’s a walking W. 9/10

ZEROFUKU: precious. definition of deserved better. what made me sad, is how he was written during the fight. he’s consistently hitting, with little to no strategy. his backstory is sad, but his battle exp was written poorly. also the random ass monster possessing took me tf out. 7/10

HADES: fine ass mf. he’s so different from how he’s usually portrayed, both look & personality wise. the first W netflix has pulled. he’s hot and responsible? persephone, we can share him babes. also, the relationship between him & poseidon made me SOB. like actually. hurt so bad i made an angst edit. 9/10

QIN SHI HUANG: first off, i don’t do research on my own ethnicity’s history. i didn’t even know who tf lu bu was. my family knew tho. with that aside, PROUD TO BE CHINESE❗️ he’s so fine. SO FINE. the way his character was written, was wonderful. i loved the fight between him & hades. the tension & the lengths they went to try & win. 9/10

BEELZEBUB: his backstory was so tragic. what i didn’t like, was how they rushed his & lilith’s story. like, they kinda randomly said i love you to each other. i’d love to see their adventures tgt. lilith, leave that emo thing, and come be w me. he’s fine too. i rlly like how they introduced him. 8/10

NIKOLA TESLA: i don’t have much of an opinion on him. very chatty, which i don’t actually mind. i guess we’ll have to wait for more chapters to release before i form an opinion on him. 5/10

ODIN: the hair bro. THE HAIR. i keep forgetting he exists, but i’m not his biggest fan. not bad, but i prefer his sons. i do like the theory of him being a traitor. he looks the part. 5/10

LOKI: honestly, i liked him a lot in the beginning, but now, it’s like he’s kinda on the side. cute & hot. thor is the better brother tho. speaking of, how tf are they even brothers? moving on, i like his personality. i like his shocked, mixed w angry, facial expressions more. 7/10

ARES: the hair again. very stylish, i do like it, but it took me out. walking around looking like a school girl. i don’t like how he tries to be a know-it-all w hermes, when he literally relies on him for info. but that’s my man for you. his expressions are SO WELL. 6/10

ADAMAS: i was awfully confused, at first, when there were 3 older brothers to zeus. usually, it’s just hades, poseidon & zeus. not his biggest fan, his character was rushed. 4/10

BONUSES

JESUS: i was very happy to see jesus. i’m not sure why, i just was. why is he the only character, THAT LOOKS LIKE THEMSELVES? 9/10

LU BU SIMP AGENCY: 10/10. i don’t need to say anymore. W cheng gong. love that man.

FORSETI: what a loser. he was so annoying. 2/10

EVE: mother? mommy? whatever. MEOW. 9/10

If you Ardyn lovers say you haven't thought about stealing his coat and wearing it, you're lying. I have had so many people come to the same consensus. We all think about it, HA!

@sillylittlevulpine Okay...I indulged A LOT on this one (in my defense, I needed it as much as it was requested). Hope you like it!

Y/N had been staring at Ardyn’s long coat for what seemed like an eternity, debating with themself. The article should’ve been put up a while ago. Instead, the coat was laid out on the floor along with other garments that had been cleaned and mended.

Curiosity and resentment had built up in Y/N ever since they were assigned to this task. Folding and tidying up the Chancellors' wardrobe was not what they signed up for. Come to think of it, Y/N believed Ardyn didn’t make the request in the first place. From previous conversations, he seemed to pride himself on taking care of most of his personal items. The only time Y/N had encountered behavior to the contrary, was when Ardyn wanted to indulge in food and wine, especially when he wasn’t in the mood to make anything himself.

This had to be the Imperial Keepers' idea…Y/N thought bitterly to themself. It made sense the longer Y/N thought it through. If Y/N didn’t know better, the Imperial Keeper probably did it to add further insult to injury them, on account they had come down with a nasty cold during the week and had been slow with duties. There was also the spat that happened between Ardyn and the Keeper. The latter having been slighted, purposefully by Ardyn to prove a rather crude point to his colleagues. In all honesty, with the rotten attitude the Imperial Keeper had that day, Y/N thought he deserved it.

“The jerk weaponized me as a biohazard to the Chancellor,” Y/N muttered to themself, letting their conclusion sink in. It made sense. Why else send an obviously sick attendant to take care of a higher-ups personal items even though it was out of character for those services to be requested?

“I should leave. Have someone else do it. Screw points getting docked.” Y/N said aloud, but then they found themself back in the conundrum that had them stuck on Ardyn’s living room floor in the first place. The resentment had come and gone, now curiosity came flooding back.

Y/N’s tired eyes combed over the material of the jacket, admiring the stitchwork and the different textures complimenting each other. They recalled Ardyn telling them long ago that it was customized just for him. He certainly wasn’t lying. The tiny details here and there was evidence that whoever made it had very careful hands and machine-like focus.

The coat wasn’t the most expensive thing Y/N had come across while being in service to the empire, but the reputation it got from its owner was enough to make Y/N scared of ruining it by touch, even though the poor garment had seen better days. Y/N lost count of how many times Ardyn had to get the coat mended because he got into an altercation, or didn’t bother to take it off when going into hostile land. One would think he didn’t care much for it, but Y/N remembered Ardyn’s wrath when someone tried to pawn it off for gil after stealing it. He was stuck in his chambers for two whole days while people searched for the thief. It was quite the tantrum over a material good, however, Y/N figured it held some strong sentimental value. Plus, it looked warm and inviting. Something Y/N desperately needed at the moment.

Y/N’s body shuddered from the fever they had been enduring. They hated this. How one moment their body would feel boiling hot, then would feel so cold it was as if Shiva herself resurrected and brought another age of ice upon Eos. The goosebumps down their arms felt like tiny mosquito bites, and they coughed into their arm horribly as their temps began to cool off once more.

Ardyn and the rest of the Imperial Council were currently in session. Those meetings tended to last several hours. There were still two hours left before Y/N’s next assignment would be put in place by the Imperial Keeper, so they had plenty of downtime. Maybe…Y/N thought to themself. Maybe it wouldn’t hurt anything if they put it on for a bit, just to get warm again.

“Gods be damned,” Y/N sighed, closing their eyes and bitterly huffed before grabbing the coat.

Ardyn let out a deep breath when he approached the doors to his chambers, rubbing his eyes for a moment. After enduring a half hour of old men fighting over scraps when it came to the war budget, he promptly conjured a tall tale to get out of staying put. Somehow Aldercapt approved and he made a beeline for the doors.

“You are not leaving me alone with senile degenerates,” Verstael whispered with contention as Ardyn walked past his chair. The infighting was so loud, that no one paid the side conversation any mind.

“My dear friend, you're an old-timer among the flock yourself!” Ardyn mused, putting a hand on his peer’s shoulder, earning a raised brow from Verstael as he looked up to meet Ardyn’s mischievous grin. “You might as well be insulting the years of wisdom that show decadently upon your wrinkled face!”

“Hmpf,” Verstael narrowed his eyes, shaking his head and he slapped Ardyn’s hand away. His right eye twitched from the chuckle that escaped his colleague. “Funny you call me such a thing when you should be dust at this rate.”

“True as that may be,” Ardyn began. “Between the two of us old men, I’m the better-looking one.”

“You better leave before we not only have a mutiny among the council, but a homicide as well.”

“And I’m off!” Ardyn chuckled, giving a sarcastic wave with his right hand before departing.

The memory had Ardyn amused for a time in the present. It was enough to pull him out of his negative thoughts from before, now focusing on things that gave him pleasure. Taking a nap after nursing a bottle of wine was starting to become more enthralling by the second, and he wasted no time venturing into his abode.

Ardyn had done this so many times, that he didn’t initially know he wasn’t by himself. He started going through his routine; taking off his vest and discarding it followed by his red scarf. He hung them up on a hook nearby, then started thinking about his jacket; wondering if it had been returned from the cleaners yet. That’s when Ardyn stopped midway taking off his hat, hearing a noise coming from his television set in his living room. He put his hat back on, and cautiously began to tiptoe toward the noise, bracing himself for the possibility of a fight.

To Ardyn’s surprise and shock, he saw Y/N sitting on the couch, leaning forward toward the TV. His coat snugged around their body like an oversized blanket, as if he had never been its proper owner. To say he was speechless was an understatement. No one ever had the gall to get this comfortable in his personal quarters and he became greatly amused at the sight.

Ardyn decided to let the silence play out for a little while, making observations while he ventured close without making a sound up until he cleared his throat.

“I see you’ve made yourself at home.” Ardyn sarcastically stated, making his presence known upon arriving at the back of the couch.

“Shit!” Y/N exclaimed. They attempted to scramble off the couch, only to fall over themselves in a clumsy fashion, while quickly grabbing for the remote and turning the television off. Panting heavily, they quickly spun and looked up at Ardyn. Y/N watched him raise a brow, smiling like he caught someone red-handed while he crossed his arms.

“I--can explain this,” Y/N gestured at the coat. “I promise I wasn’t going to steal--”

“My attire looks rather fetching on you,” Ardyn interrupted. His eyes scanned Y/N over and his smile grew. “I’m almost jealous you’re outperforming me.”

“What?” Y/N flatly blurted and furrowed their brows. “You’re not upset?”

“Far from it,” Ardyn smirked. “Of all the things I could’ve come home to, I’d rather deal with an Imperial Help trying on my clothes for kicks than an assassin wanting to present my head to the King of Lucis. Although I’ve grown fond of our conversations, Y/N, I don’t recall requiring your services for the day. Come to think of it, I don’t believe we were to see one another until the weekend. Did you miss me that much?”

"You wish..." Y/N rolled their eyes playfully and sighed, feeling relief wash over them at the fact he wasn’t enraged. Had this been Verstael, or anyone else, the consequences would’ve been costly.

“The Imperial Keeper said you needed help with your laundry today. I figured he was lying, but I came out of obligation.” Y/N shrugged.

“How dutiful of you,” Ardyn quipped. He briefly glared, making a mental note to have a word with the Keeper at a later date. Ardyn focused suddenly on Y/N’s features, noting their color looked more dull than usual, followed by their body tremoring under his coat.

“What’s wrong?” Y/N asked, breaking Ardyn out of his observations.

“You’re unwell.”

“Am I that obvious?” Y/N teased, then sniffled and almost felt themself sneeze.

“You’d certainly give a fresh corpse a run for its gil.” Ardyn chuckled darkly, enjoying the brief glare Y/N shot at him before they began coughing, and instinctively he took a step forward. Ardyn only stopped when Y/N gestured with their free hand for him to halt.

“I don’t want to get you sick,” Y/N said in between fits. “I can take your coat to the cleaning center, and get it decontaminated.”

“There’s no need for such hysterics,” Ardyn waved them off and approached Y/N’s personal space. He didn’t give them any time to react before he felt their forehead and then checked their pulse. “I don’t get sick easily like most. However, I am curious as to why the Imperial Keeper would send someone of your ailment my way. Feeling hot and cold?”

“Uh huh,” Y/N nodded, recoiling a little from Ardyn’s touch due to sensitivity. “I think he wanted me to get you sick if I’m being honest. He didn't take too kindly to being thrown under a bus at the emperor's reception.”

“Well, he’s going to be in for a rude awakening,” Ardyn said as a matter of fact. His tone was bordering between sinister and playful. He took note of Y/N’s fear, and his expression softened after he finished assessing. “Do you have other obligations today?”

“I have a councilmen’s filing cabinet to clean out, and a few beds to make.” Y/N breathed. “Why do you ask?”

“I must implore you to stay and rest here.”

“Here?”

“Why not? You seemed to be getting on quite well making use of my home for your own enjoyment.” Ardyn said playfully with a shrug.

“The Imperial Keeper--”

“Can kiss both our asses for all I care,” Ardyn finished, leaving Y/N speechless at his bold proclamation. “I’m not sending you away when you clearly have a fever. That wouldn’t sit well on my conscience.”

“I thought you didn’t like people. You said so yourself a few days ago that company drains you.”

“That remains true as ever, alas,” Ardyn paused and he smiled while his right hand cupped Y/N’s face. His thumb carefully stroked over their cold skin and his eyes sadly glanced over their features. “You are in no such category.”

“Oh…”

Dumbfounded didn’t quite capture how Y/N felt at the moment, but it was close. The only thing Y/N could really focus on was how warm his touch was, and how their pulse seemed to skyrocket at the act. As soon as it began, Ardyn retreated his hand away and took a step back, and Y/N foolishly found themself missing the contact.

Their eyes focused on Ardyn as his right hand began rubbing at his chin. His gaze became scrutinizing as if he was judging a piece of art. Y/N didn’t know if they should’ve felt flattered or scared. Maybe both.

“What’s wrong?”

“Ah, it’s nothing too drastic I assure you, but I am finding that although my coat suits you well, it’s missing something that ties it all together,” Ardyn said as a matter of fact. He wasted no effort in taking off his hat, and with care, he placed it on top of Y/N’s head.

“There we go! The wardrobe crisis has been averted!”

The hat sunk a little on Y/N initially, and they used their left thumb to prop it back up. They laughed, feeling their face turning red at Ardyn’s action. He too chortled, looking impressed with himself up until Y/N appeared to be frightened.

“You look as if the Gods will smite you at any second.” Ardyn pointed out.

“You're more open minded to classes mingling than others. I think we both know had this been any other councilmen or the emperor, I wouldn’t be standing. Especially if I was caught trying on their clothes.”

“True,” Ardyn nodded. “Yet here you are.”

“Here I am.”

A calm silence fell between Y/N and Ardyn as they fondly looked upon the other. It was only when Ardyn guided Y/N to the couch did both break away from the spell. He lay down and got comfortable, and calmly guided Y/N to lie against him. He could sense their apprehension and spoke up.

“I can run cold unlike most people,” Ardyn paused, reminding himself not to get too comfortable revealing his secrets. “Between the coat and myself, you’ll have an easier time resting.”

“Isn’t this overstepping several boundaries?” Y/N murmured against his chest. Sure enough, he was true to his word: it was as if on cue, Ardyn had gone from feeling like a warm furnace to a cold sheet that had been left to dry in the bitter wind. It was eerie, the whole thing, but their mind and body were too tired and miserable to think any deeper about it. The exhaustion from the long day, on top of the excitement from earlier, had Y/N feeling drowsy.

“Yes as a matter of fact,” Ardyn murmured and closed his eyes. “Alas, no one’s here to bear witness so it doesn’t matter. What happens in my chambers, stays in my chambers. However, if you’re uncomfortable, you can retreat to my room. I won’t disturb you while I remain here. I was planning to take a nap anyway.”

“I can’t hog your bed,” Y/N’s eyes fluttered open and closed. Their mind was being lulled to rest by how cool Ardyn felt, and how cozy his jacket felt against them. “What about the Imperial Keeper?”

“I’ll deal with it. You won’t receive consequence, I assure you.”

“What about--”

“Y/N,”

“Yes?”

“Be a dear and hush. You're not the only one who had a long and dreary day dealing with men who are vultures.” He commanded bluntly.

Y/N’s eyes finally gave into the weight and shut, all the while their lips smiled so big from his remark it began to hurt for a time. The last thing they could recall before drifting off into unconsciousness, was the rumbling of Ardyn’s chest when he laughed at their weak chuckle.

As soon as Ardyn felt Y/N fall asleep, he opened his eyes and inhaled deeply through his nose. Frustration graced his amber hues while his right arm wrapped around Y/N’s body. This little friendship wasn’t supposed to get to this point. Ardyn had a feeling Y/N thought the same thing. He wondered how much longer it would be before someone in court caught onto the special treatment he freely gave to them. He also wondered how long it would be before Y/N would discover what he really was. That made Ardyn more uneasy than the former and his mind began to travel. All it would take is one slip-up, one mistake to undo his mask.

It became clear that Ardyn wouldn’t get that nap he yearned for after all, and he resided himself to his fate.

Spirit World #2 continues with Batgirl's adventure in said place. Where we get some twists and turns that open up questions from over 20 years ago! So here are my thoughts all about Cass (with a bit on Xanthe too)...

So this continues with the last one with Mr. Hong literally breaking into Po Po's place. Well, it ain't someone Cass knows but at the very least, writer Alyssa Wong again showcases their mastery of the character knowing the aggression of Hong behind the door last issue.

Likewise, I love the overall body horror design of "mutilated" Mr. Hong. Artist Haining ups the ante of the two sisterly stretchy neck demons' last issue with well an amazing design with this one easily.

Though an outsider, I do like that Wong clearly doesn't have Cass in the backseat when Hong breaks in and showcases why she's one of the deadliest fighters in the DCU.

But not only that but I do love the little winged-like appearance Po Po has with her scarf.

The whole sequence is a nice establishment of three dynamics at play here. On why Bowen is with Po Po (Cassandra he is not), and how he pleas that even this tainted life is still a life (echoing to Cass's remorse last issue of slaying a spirit in the prelude issue).

That's another element I enjoyed as Wong expands on what can come into the Spirit World and what tethers a being here back to the real world.

By doing so we get a much more look into Xanthe's own past with full confirmation they passed away and that their link to the real world was their sister Stephie (who ironically wears purple and a hood).

I really got to admit Wong is just some real powerlifting this issue by doing this with Xanthe, playing into an interesting way of dead naming, plus just the weaving into family issues too.

For other authors, it might take many issues to do all this, but Wong knows they got in two already exceptional issues and teasing for more. And damn I want more even when this is basically the third issue.

That brings us to the big twist pertaining to Cass this issue. As to find out who wants to gobble her up Po Po, Bowen, and Cass meet another interesting mystical figure in To Shen who um.. is making me question things stupid sexy probably evil fox spirit.

*ahem* Anyway, again the design is just crazy good and I'm curious to learn more about them and the connection they have to Cass as well.. we get the first ramification from Batgirl Vol. 1.

Now already some are thinking Wong is doing some retconning and explaining Ghost Steph (and if so oh boy are we in for a wild ride).

The thing that makes me wonder if Wong will go for the hat trick as Cass has technically been on death's door three times. Lady Shiva (#25), the Brotherhood of Evil (#61), and Mad Dog (#72).

On two of those times, she was visited by a ghostly Stephanie. And given To Shen is a rocking blonde and given solicitation (which spoiled this). You just have to wonder.

Again, this is Wong showing how long they've been a fan of the character adding to what's already come in the past with Cass, by giving this mystical adventure to her she's not really had as a character.

It's a different avenue, but it's also one Wong looks to use steeped in Cass's past. A past not many acknowledge since the end of Vol. 1. Literally, the only two who've acknowledged the series have been four times (Simone twice, Tynion, and recently Conrad/Cloonan).

It makes me scream why Tamaki wasn't allowed this much leeway with her Batman stuff. But I digress, offhandedly (by showing Huntress in NML and Jim Gordon referencing it) she's the one who put Cass's NML back to the forefront.

That leaves me more amped for #3. This series is just everything I wanted with the character. It's giving us new interactions (Xanthe, John, Po Po, and Bowen), a mystical adventure, and using past Cass stories to build toward SOMETHING. I am REALLY digging the kinetic energy Haining continues to bring with Cass stuff. It's soooooo good. More so seeing Cass's new design in action as well. Spirit World #2 is another exceptional issue. Something that fans who are reading should tell other fans. "Hey, you wanna read some good stuff? This is good stuff right here!"

Top 5 Primals or Bosses

Ooh, this is a fun one!

In no specific order:

Endsinger - Her whole look, the fight, plus being a big part of the tail end of EW, gives me such a love for her.

Hades - Another final boss of an expansion the gives me such a love for the fight, but also I just really love Emet. My favorite grump.

Shiva - Mainly because of HW feels. I still miss Ysayle. <3

Susano - Specifically because that fight feels so fun as a tank. Holding back a big ass sword while your buddies wail on it feels so good.

Hydaelyn - Partially because fighting the literal "god" that's been guiding you throughout the story is so amazing yet heartbreaking, and partially because I like to see Estinien floor tank fighting alongside ALL the Scions feels SO GOOD. We get to fight crystal mom together. ;v;

yess that's the perpollo fic!! it was such an enjoyable read.

okay so for the stephcass fic it's like. arachne myth adjacent. so the basic premise is a gothic retelling where it was cass' ancestor who was cursed and turned into a spider creature.

so cass is like this human-spider hybrid thing but in a delightful monster way. thinking this for the general vibes of cass:

stephanie is not from high society like cass and her countess' mother. instead, steph is just barely getting by as a tailor's apprentice. though shiva and cass are sort of recluses due to their shared affliction, the silk they can make is very valued.

i'm also reading up on shibari bc... hello webbing is right there but also for fashion bc i saw this image.

smth like this for cass perhaps but uh, more coverage. i really love the idea of her leaning into the whole spider thing and just running with the motif like how lucille is associated with moths in crimson peak. just. spiders and webbing everywhere. like! look at this and this.

i am not. super set on a plot direction bc mostly i just want to write smth gothic and magical and sapphic. just two gals falling in love <3

but no gothic romance would be complete without the threat of violence and fear of death that's just standard for the genre sooooo i know in one version of the arachne myth, she and her brother both were turned and it was said that their offspring would kill them which is really interesting esp in combo with cass' issues with murder.

soooo with that said possibly as cass ages she is combating more and more thoughts of violence towards her mother. did you know spiders will eat other spiders? (plus it would tie into the whole shiva training cass thing if shiva expects and wants her daughter to kill her when the time comes, like she did to her mother)

perhaps the only time cass doesn't have those thoughts is when she's with steph. which is such a cliché but i happen to like clichés a lot.

Its a hard no for all of them from Adam as his dear daughter hides from the overwhelming numbers

Meanwhile neziko is plotting with the god or human that she thinks would be the best for reader.

-Gods were stunned as you sucked in harshly through your teeth, standing in front of Nezuko’s broken box, after your opponent, a wind god named Kand, tried to attack, knowing your sister was in the box.

-A flaming wave of water seemed to surround you as you charged at him, easily slicing his head off, sending it flying.

-You didn’t like to kill, only if you had to, and this fight, which many didn’t want you fighting in, in the first place, was one to the death, to save humanity.

-You were the last fighter, after the other preselected gods and humans had gotten into an all-out brawl, so you and another god were chosen instead.

-Humanity was saved, you had done it.

-You slid to your knees, then to your rear as the tears welled in your eyes, completely stunned that you had managed to do this.

-Nezuko ran over and leapt into your arms as you broke down, bawling loudly as you held her, feeling her patting your head gently to comfort you.

-Zeus came down, approaching you and spoke, “As the winner you not only saved humanity, but you have earned anything you want. As gods, we can do anything.”

-You looked at your sister, your eyes wide, as you could finally get a cure for her, but she shook her head, her hands on her hips before she hugged you and you could have sworn you heard her voice in your head, ‘I can wait.’

-You held her close, hugging her before you smiled up at Zeus, “If you’re able to. I want all of the warriors, gods and humans, who were killed in Ragnarok, to be returned to life.”

-He was stunned by your request before he smiled, reaching a hand down to pat both of your heads, “We have judged humanity too harshly. You are proof of this.”

-He called upon Shiva, Buddha, Odin, and as many other powerful gods as he could gather in the arena and with their combined power, each warrior, Valkyrie included, returned to life.

-The roars of the cheers were deafening, almost disorienting as friends and loved ones were reunited, on both sides of the tournament.

-Zeus had ran and tackled his older brothers, sobbing that they were back, while new friends and rivals, like Thor and Lu Bu were reunited, and Goll ran down her sisters who had been lost, followed by the other Valkyries who had managed to win alongside their partners.

-Adam was quickly kneeling beside the two of you, hugging you close as you broke down in harsh sobs, crying hard into his shoulder, overwhelmed with so much happiness that you had managed to do this.

-You must have fainted because you woke up in the infirmary days later, surrounded by flowers, stuffed animals, and other get-well gifts.

-Nezuko was sleeping next to you, holding onto one of your hands while you looked around, confused.

-Brunnhilde smiled gently at you as she entered, seeing you awake, “You’ve been out for almost four days now, Y/N. We were beginning to worry. You fainted so suddenly back there before developing an insanely high fever. Your fight- your injuries, plus the massive adrenaline rush from your wish, overworked your body.”

-You mumbled out a soft apology, still rather weak feeling as she patted your head before giving you a grin, “Many have been asking to see you, humans and gods alike, both fighters and non-fighters. Your fight and your selfless wish has gotten you quite a lot of attention.”

-As you became more coherent, Brunnhilde helping you sit up so you could have some water, she pointed out a pile of letters on a nearby table, “Those are all marriage proposals.”

-You turned to stone, your eyes bulging out and jaw dropping, before you stiffly turned to the now laughing Brunnhilde, thinking you were adorable before you flushed bright red, holding your cheeks, “Marriage proposals?!”

-Nezuko had woken up when you had turned to stone, rubbing her eyes lightly before crawling into your arms, hugging you gently before she nodded, looking over at the letters.

-Adam was your next visitor, bringing you a basket of apples, relieved to see you awake, patting your head gently.

-While he wasn’t your birth father, Adam was so warm and comforting, you felt so safe with him, you had no issues calling him father as well, and Nezuko adored him, so that wasn’t a big a deal for her either.

-When he saw the proposals and you, flustered, had to tell him what the pile was, he was quickly on his feet, cracking his knuckles, “Just because of your actions, they think they can come for you now. Not on my watch!”

-You could only hold out a hand, stretched out towards him and Nezuko, as they ran out the door together, Nezuko thinking it was a game.

-You leaned back into your pillows, eating one of the apples Adam had cut and prepared for you, finding the taste sweet and refreshing.

-When you got out of the infirmary, you were unprepared to be rushed by so many different men, all of them asking you to marry them.

-You were such a maiden, flushed bright red, stammering as you tried to make sense of the situation, your eyes quickly swirling as you were getting overwhelmed again.

-You heard a familiar call as Nezuko leapt down, shifting into her true form, only just a bit shorter than you and easily picked you up princess style and was able to leap up and away from the crowd, rescuing you.

-Adam was, understandably, furious when he found you hiding in a garden a few hours later, Nezuko patrolling around, but she let Adam approach and you told him what had happened.

-He could easily see your fear, your discomfort about this situation, angering the best dad in the universe, seeing one of his precious daughters scared and upset from the attention she was getting, only after you had saved humanity and showed everyone your pure and just heart.

-After getting you both home, so you were safe, Nezuko stopped him, tugging on his hand and he kneeled, “What is it?” she held out a letter to him which he took, and she huffed like she was proud of herself, her hands on her hips.

-He read the letter, finding it a marriage proposal which did make him scowl lightly before he looked back at your sister, “I take it this is a man you approve of?” she nodded and he bit his lip, only for a moment before he nodded, “I will see about questioning him, thank you Nezuko.”

-She beamed, enjoying her head pats from him before he left, and she returned to your side.

-A few days later a knock came to your front door, and you hesitated to answer it, so Nezuko did it for you and she called out happily, telling you it was someone safe.

-You peeked around the corner and your eyes widened for a moment before they softened, seeing (Love) there, holding a single red rose for you.

-(Love) was always kind to both you and Nezuko, and while you had never admitted it, you did have a crush on him.

-He handed you the rose before quickly pecking your cheek, which made you squeak, flushing bright red, holding your cheek while Nezuko was holding her own cheeks, mimicking you.

-He chuckled softly, his eyes closing as he smiled, “Adam came and told me that he and Nezuko both approved of me, but I don’t want to rush you. Will you go on a date with me, Y/N?”

And by good time, I mean an extra long post where I talk about Ms. Minti and her fashions as of the start to the Dawntrail expansion.

I'm writing this the day before Dawntrail drops, so I don't have *everything* available, but I'll update this once servers go back online.

RIGHT. SO. Story time.

Back when I started XIV, I played Arcanist. I had one job. I didn't like that job, so I swapped to Lancer. I kept swapping jobs until I got to, I think Dark Knight? Which I did for a while, until I got to Shadowbringers. I leveled up jobs for the role quests, not much else happened, until I hit Endwalker and start doing Endwalker stuff. It's specifically when I saw the "A Life of Adventure IV" achievement that Things Start Happening.

In case you don't know, "A Life of Adventure IV" says

Obtain the achievements "Mastering War IV" and "Mastering Magic IV."

You get an Amaro mount. For curious sprouts, this is a flying bird(?) mount that appears in the Shadowbringers expansion. Without spoilers, it's pretty special! It doesn't have any special animations, but it's important to the story and will make you cry.

You can't get this bird elsewhere in the game.

What do you need for "Mastering War IV" and "Mastering Magic IV"?

Mastering War IV says

Achieve level 80 as a gladiator, pugilist, marauder, lancer, archer, rogue, dark knight, machinist, samurai, gunbreaker, and dancer.

You get a title. Neat.

Mastering Magic IV says

Achieve level 80 as a conjurer, thaumaturge, arcanist, astrologian, and red mage.

You get a title. Also neat.

What we need to do is get level 80 on all combat jobs that were available to play during the Shadowbringers expansion. As of Dawntrail, that is everything but Sage, Reaper, Blue Mage, Viper, and Pictomancer.

Almost. Every. Combat. Class.

You know what you get for getting all those classes plus Sage and Reaper to 90?

So, I had a goal. I had a lot of goals, at the time, that I kept updated on the Notes app on my phone. I started taking Adderall during this time, which I needed for my general mental health, and more recently Lexapro for other pressing mental health needs. Is this too much information? Yes, BUT they helped me to stay focused, get my shite done, and tell my anxiety (which has been my "manager" for a very long time) to stop managing my life.

Reader, gentle reader, I got all those classes up to 90. I got Blue Mage up to 80.

so, love poetry was honestly just scenes of jason reciting poetry to dick and then four scenes later i realized i had a plot idea and the rest is history lol

the basic premise is that dick *thinks* he's hallucinating jason (specifically and often as robin) and is just not mentally well about anything. except! it is actually the ghost of jason! and ghost jason is looking out for dick, or trying to anyways.

“You can feel guilty over that, sure, be an idiot,” Jason huffs and [Dick] can feel the familiar exasperation rolling off of him. “Or, you can do something about it.” His words make him pause--they always do, make him pause, make him choke the rage and grief out--but he tilts his head and just breathes. He thinks. He’s clever, his little wing is always so clever. Or maybe, he just knows him too well. “Thanks, Jay,” He murmurs, and lets his fingers curl around him. “A man takes his sadness and / throws it away / but then he’s still left with his hands.” Jason finishes, a wispy whisper against his skin, hands pushing him towards the ledge. When he leaps, cold determination and the ever present rage in his gut, Jason laughs. It carries him forward. It makes him fly. [boot theory, richard siken]

so for a while, ghost jason is reciting poetry/literature to dick and trying to keep him alive but then, jason's body wakes up, crawls out of his grave and is found by talia. ghost jason realizes shit is about to go down and not in a good way and gives a very vague, somewhat cryptic warning to dick before disappearing (aka talia dips jason in the pit and restores his ghost/soul).

and then a few years later, red hood shows up in gotham.

that's all i have so far, but i think it will have a hopeful ending. it's gonna be messy and dark first. i've been having fun plugging in some of my favorite quotes tho<3

and then girl gang girl gang GIRL GANG!!!

okay so this one, i'm honestly excited to write !!!!! but i have so little so far lmao. anyways. it's an exploration of the fact that jason is often impacted and influenced by women. Aka Jason has a (bad) good habit of being a feminist girlboss-malewife and his team-ups always end up as all girls plus him.

it starts during his training with the league, having a team up with lady shiva and cheshire, plus his whole thing with talia. i've also been thinking of combining this with another idea i've had about, instead of jason meeting and being close with damian during his league days, he was actually closer with mara al ghul (damian's cousin), so there's that.

then jason's besties with essence and ducra at the all-caste and also befriends rose wilson during his league days. then after the whole red hood debacle, he's close with faye gunn, and when he starts to dabble in team ideas (the budding outlaws!) he meets and befriends duela dent, artemis, and later isabel ardila; has a weird reunion with barbara, which then leads to him meeting stephanie (who decides jason is her new best friend). he also causes some chaos with selina and her team while in gotham.

i've also been thinking of adding a super, just not sure if i want it to be kara or not; also bette kane is a big contender (just not sure how to introduce her yet); and then i've been thinking about adding blackfire (komand'r) because she's so fascinating to me and i think she might match the whole outlaws thing a bit better than kori.

there will be cameos from kate kane, huntress, barbara + cass, onyx, donna troy, and harley, but i really want to focus on jason, cheshire, rose, duela, artemis, and steph (and hopefully bette, komand'r, and mara).

My Final Fantasy 16 Review (Interview style!)

So I just finished Final Fantasy 16 and thus it is time to write a review, as per usual. In Interview-Style this time, as it helps me be more organized with my thoughts.

Obviously, you should be aware of Spoilers! Seriously, MANY SPOILERS FOR FF16 AHEAD! You have been warned!

How was the beginning of the game?

> I think the game started relatively strong. Because you have A LOT of questionmarks throughout the beginning of the game. Like… “Wyvern?” Wasn’t his name Clive or something? What is that Tatoo for? Why are we hunting Shiva if she is his friend? (Stuff like that I knew from Trailers and Interviews and Scenes they have shown so I assume most people would wonder about stuff like that.) Also… why exactly are we after Shiva in the first place? What kind of war is it that is going on here and what side are we on? Also, even tho most of us have seen at least part of what would happen in the flashback it was still interesting to watch. It was also with that… kind of weird anticipation. Like… you know something bad is going to happen and you just want it to be over with, because you know its not going to be pretty but you have to get through it, like it or not.

Did the game manage to keep up the good pace?

> Sadly no. Around the halfway point, basically shortly after the freaking 5 year time-skip the pacing lets up, the main-missions get more boring and you get swarmed with side-missions which are mostly not worth the time. The story per se keeps being interesting despite certain parts of the plot being obvious, because other parts are not so obvious or don’t even turn out the way you were expecting at all. So it is just like with FF7R. The Plot isn’t the problem, the way the game is designed is. I mean you go from exiting missions to “save the world” in the first part of the game to “go there and there, talk to these and that person and bring me these and that item” and it just feels like SE ran out of ideas and didn’t know how to fill the gap between the big fights, as it sometimes felt a bit rushed, because the world wasn’t as open as some people (not me) liked and so it often felt like we were fighting most of the big fights in one freaking week, as we usually are forced to quick travel back to the hideout from whatever end of the continent we are at right now. I get that they sometimes just wanted to give us some slower missions to calm down and make it look like Clive actually has some damn time to rest instead of running on whatever they have as a coffee replacement in that world XD But it was done poorly. At some point, despite the plot still being interesting, I wanted the game to end. So it actually overstayed its welcome. Even tho it is an around 40 hours game and I played 120 hours games before and felt like that only around 80 hours in in these games, if at all.

Did you do any of the sidequest and plusquest? If so… were they worth it?

> I did all of the plusquest since they are worth the time and effort, because they usually give you something useful. Tho I have to say that some of them should have been there in the first part of the game, instead of as late as almost the last quarter of the game. But I am glad that they marked those quests with a plus, to let you know they are special, because otherwise I would have very likely not done them, since this game has over 70 sidequests and some of them are absolutely boring bullshit that waste your time. Of course, as in any other JRPG there are sidequests that give you something worth doing them, but you never know if they are worth it until you do them. I have done one were I had to give people in the hideout apples. Yes, that was my mission, giving people apples. You can probably imagine my absolute frustration upon taking this request because it just didn’t give you much satisfaction or anything truly useful. On the other hand I had one that seemed relatively useless at first end ended with a nice scene that gave you some inside into the relationship and past of Otto and Cid and felt overall worth the effort. And the ones near the end often give you some sort of closure or some nice moments with certain Characters.

But I have to say that at some point in the game, looking at the map and seeing the overwhelming amount of sidequests there was easily making sure I was not going to do them all ^^’ Especially since the game overstayed its welcome and I just wanted to finish it and not be stuck on sidemissions for yet another day. If they game ever comes out for PC I might replay it and then I do all the sidemission but I am certainly not looking forward to that part of replaying the game ^^’

Were there sidemission where you thought they should not have been optional?

> One thing some JRPGs never seemed to learn is that stuff that you need in the main mission is not supposed to be in an optional sidequest. So one day, after the timeskip, a Girl names Mid walks in and talks about some stuff and the game treats it like you are supposed to know her and what she is talking about and who her freaking father is and you just have a big ass questionmark over your head the whole time. Because Cids daughter gets introduced in a freaking sidequest and doesn’t even get mentioned once in the mainquest. WTF?! There surely is more stuff that was answered in sidequests, given with how many questions I was left in the end.

A lot of people complain that the devs of FF16 got inspired a bit too much by GOT, is that true?

> I can not tell because I never watched game of thrones and I am very likely never going to ^^’ But what I can say is that there is A LOT of death in this game and even some nudity and mildly hinted at sex-scenes and I guess at least that was likely inspired by watching a show were death and sex are everywhere (according to the people who told me about GOT). So I guess it is possible.

How was the overall tone of the game?

> First of all I feel like this is one of the darkest Final Fantasy games I have ever played and aside from the online-games, I played all starting from 6 (tho I never managed to finish some of them myself) so I’ve seen some stuff. Death and destruction isn’t new to the world of Final Fantasy but in this game it was… almost too much. Like every second town or so you walked in you only found corpses and blood or people who got turned into monsters whos only salvation was death. At first it was shocking, but at some point it felt unnecessary and was starting to get boring. I also wonder how the human race even survived beyond the end of this game, given that what feels like half of the people living in the world of this game were killed, while at least a quarter of the survivors was probably doomed to die a cruel death do to that curse-sickness-thingy and then there was the treat of monsters, starvation do to the plague and…. It really is a miracle that there were people alive for the after-credits-scene ^^’

The game was also very mature. Not just that the cast was overall older and aged throughout the game and thus we didn’t work with a boy who is still half a teenager like Tidus or a young woman who still has some maturing to do like Serah but a bunch of adults and young adults who have been though hell and back and couldn’t really afford being young and silly. But it was also the fact that the overall tone of the game with all the darkness, destruction and death was obviously meant for a more mature audience. And once again, we had nudity and hinted Sex, something we never before had in a Final Fantasy game.

So if I had to describe the overall tone of the game in once sentence I would say dark and mature.

You said some things of the plot were obvious and some were surprising. What is your overall thoughts on that and can you give us some examples?

> First of all, it was clear as day that it was Clive who turned into Ifrit and “killed” the Phoenix. But the game manages to confuse you a few times so that you start to doubt it, despite the fact that it was obvious, which I found really nice and speaks overall for how good the plot was in the first half of the game.

Joshuas position in the game made it clear he was still alive. You had no idea how it was possible, and it actually feels a bit weird, given how we literally witnessed Ifrit tearing the Phoenix apart, but Joshua just had to be still alive, or otherwise the narrative would have been somewhat different and the game wouldn’t have paid as much attention to him in the short time we had with him as it did. HOWEVER the boy finally shows up again and he already has death flag over his head. He had been sickly before and it was already a miracle that he survived this fight with Ifrit and then he finally comes back and starts coughing blood like he had lung cancer or something bad like that. So when he died of blood loss while still coughing blood, instead of dying in an epic battle to protect his dear brother or the world or something amazing like that, it didn’t even feel shocking. The game made it clear he would die like this from the first moment his adults self showed up coughing blood. No shock here whatsoever. It was sad of course, but not very shocking.

Cid dying too was somewhat something you saw coming. The curse has started turning his arm into stone already, so he would have died of the curse sooner or later anyway. He also has coughed A LOT of blood whenever he had used Ramuh. So it was more a question of when he dies, not if he dies. But at least his death felt satisfying, compared to the ones of most of the other characters. Because at the end it wasn’t the curse killing him, he died like a true hero in battle, protecting the people he cared about. (And yes, I get that in a sense Joshua too died because he took Ultima in to protect Clive but it felt like a really lame death for a character like him and given how he literally survived just to die.)

We all knew from the moment Clive has taken in the powers of two Eikons (or however they were called in English, I played in German for once) that in the end he would need to have the power of them all inside. So the question only was if the people he took the power from will survive. We’ve seen that it was technically possible, but rather unlikely throughout the game. So I think most of us expected the worst for Jill. It was rather surprising that in the end, she just gave her powers to Clive without any epic fight or something like that. It was certainly a nice change for once, but totally unexpected. We all knew her powers would end up with him, but I guess most of all feared she need to die in order for this to happen, given how he never considered taking her powers from her, even after hearing the curse was starting to take root. So that was certainly surprising.

So the plot of the game was a weird mixture of seeing a lot of things coming but also not always seeing how they would come. And then some questions like what Ultima wants with Clive were never really fully answered and weren’t really clear even after the end ^^’ Seriously. They wanted his body, right? But uh… what for? The form we fought in the end seemed perfectly fine to me. Also… if the crystals took the ether out of continent, why didn’t it get better or at least slowed down considerably after we destroyed them? Not to mention, in the flashback, they talk about the plague and how it comes closer and that is why Clives father wanted to take over that damned Crystall. But like 18 years later, Rosaria is still having green grass and all. So why the rush?

The plot was not bad, but it was a bit… uh… of a bad mix of thing being obvious and some questions never really getting an actual answer.

What do you say about the ending?

> It was lacking! Seriously, the ending was absolutely not satisfying at all. It felt like something was seriously missing. I cried a lot, don’t get me wrong. But it was just so… not epic at all. The first fight was basically just a cutscene with some trigger-moments where we needed to push a button a few times to make it look like we were involved somewhat. Then it was Dions time to die and that already didn’t feel right. You know what I mean? Yes, he fucked up as Bahamut when he lost control of his powers but he repent for his sins by just sacrificing himself so that Joshua can get to Clive? He should have lived and help rebuild the continent. Or he could have died actually protecting something/someone that truly mattered to him. It felt like the game used him to get the boys to that place and then they didn’t need him anymore and instead of Clive and Joshua telling him to go back and help the people rebuild the world they just kill him off quickly so that he is out of the way and can not help Clive anymore. His death was certainly not unworthy of his character. Joshua follows soon after and he died bleeding to death, after Ultima freed himself from him and while the curse was apparently eating him alive. As sad as his death was, as unworthy of his character it felt too. He too just came along the way for no other purpose but to quickly die, so that Clive has to face Ultima alone but with the Phoenix full powers. I call this bullshit! After all that happened, Joshua would have deserved a more epic, more satisfying and more meaningful death. Yes, in a sense, he died protecting Clive, but they could and should have done this in a more epic and more satisfying and less rushed way. Joshua only survived in the beginning to die in the end and there is something seriously wrong with that. Its like jumping into the water because you are burning and then drowning in the water that was supposed to save you from the fire. It lacked true meaning. And just with Dion didn’t pay justice to the character and his long and hard journey.

The fight against Ultima was funny enough so much easier then a lot of mini-boss or even Hunter-Job-Fights I had before. So the battle in itself already felt unsatisfying. And then, after everything we have been through, we get that questionable ending for Clive. Yes, he sacrificed himself for the good of the world, to keep his promise and all that. But… none of the boys coming out of this alive felt absolutely frustrating. After that, we watch how the baby is born, you know, the circle of live and death and all and then we see Jill and Torgal suffering, we cry with them and then… that’s it? You do not see any other characters aside from Mid and Gav. No Otto, no Tarja, no nothing. We do not see how the live of the characters goes on after this. How everything deals with their new world and their losses. What about Dions Boyfriend and the little girl whos role I never fully got? What is with Jote now that Joshua is dead? Is the curse gone, now that the Magic should be gone too? Also… in the sidequests were we face Joshuas and Clives fathers will he has a job for his sons that is supposed to help the world become a better place and survive the plague and all and… who is going to fulfill his will, now that both of his sons are dead and didn’t leave any heirs? What was the meaning of this quest if it was wortheless?

I felt… empty after the game ended and not in the good kind of way. I wasn’t satisfied with the ending at all. Shame on you SE! (Also like 30 minutes or so of Credits before the post-credits-scene WTF?!)

And… when exactly did Joshua write this damned book? O.o

In FF15 a lot of people complained about the lack of romance. The previous games after 10 didn’t do so well with romance either. How was FF16 in that regard?

> Much better. Although I found that they overdid it a bit with the 5 year timeskip (not just in the romance department, mind you) it was a nice slowburn romance between Clive and Jill that definitely made you say “FINALLY!”, when they kissed for the first time. We ended up with two canon kisses. Plenty of hugs. Some heartfelt moments and conversations and one optional kiss and hug scene as well as a freaking love-confession. It felt really nice. I still love Tidus and Yuna more, but this is definitely the first ship since them that feels good and right and leaves you with no wishes for them other than… you know… the male part not dying ^^’ We’ve also had our first gay-ship ladys and gentleman. It was… obviously kept under the rock as much as possible, but for a Final Fantasy Game this was a huge step in the right direction. Even tho they dared to kill one part of the ship off in the end. But all ships died that way… so whatever ^^’ I would say Jote and Joshua were supposed to be a somewhat ship, but it felt like he kept her at arm’s length the whole time, because he knew he would die. So… we weren’t going anywhere with this, sadly.

Not much more romance there than that, but it was plenty compared to other games, especially FF15. And if you don’t mind things not being Canon there is A LOT of bromance in this game. Plenty of guys being close. So take your pick and enjoy the ride ;)

You see a lot of players saying how attractive they find the mans of this game, what do you say?

> There is eyecandy everywhere in this game you can totally take your pick here. You like the rough looking kind of cool guy? We have it! You prefer the babyface softie? We have it! You like the more mature looking, smoking mysterious guy? We have it! And if you swing the other way, no problem! We also have a few handsome girls with different looks and characters. Take your pick! We even get some fanservice. There was a scene were Clive was naked and you could see his muscular body from different angles for absolutely no valid reason XD We also have naked woman at times. And lots of exposed male chests, if you like that. Seriously tho, I can not blame many players being attracted to the guys in this game. They are all very handsome and attractive in their own way and you really have a great variety so there is someone for every kind of taste XD

Back to more serious matters… how was the new battle-system?

> As a player who prefers round-based-battle I was very glad the game offered me multiple ways to make battles easier, because they were not easy at all. Pushing all those button-combinations hurt my hand in a way I never thought possible. At first I only picked the mod were I could slow down the game when being attacked so that you have a chance to dodge, but I had to switch over to auto-dodging because I was that bad at it. The fights were doable things to these in-game-modifications but I still wouldn’t say the battle-system was easy. It was doable thanks to the mods the game offered but I am pretty sure I would have given up on the game if they hadn’t been there, because I would have never managed to survive if I had to play without the modifications.

Also… sometimes the battles were really chaotic and I didn’t know were I was or what I was doing. In on battle there was smoke everywhere for half a minute and I was just randomly smashing my button in hopes I would hit the enemy, which thankfully Clive usually did automatic. Something I really missed in this game was a healer. Only using potions and not even being allowed to have as many as possible with me wasn’t exactly to my liking. I should have been allowed to learn some sort of healing magic at some point in the game. Or they could have made Torgal a better healer to make up for the lack of healing magic. I also have an issue with the way the party-members were handled. In comparison to FF7R you can not control them, but you also not have to heal them or give them weapons or anything. But most of the time they also really weren’t a big help in battle. Jill often just walked around the enemies and didn’t attack them much. Torgal was the only one being mildly helpful ^^’ I do not know if I like this kind of system. If I have a party, it would be nice to them being somewhat useful. I would have taken having to buy them new weapons and make them gain experience and give the some attributes if they were actually helpful over what we actually got here. They could have worked with some sort of KI system were you as a player can tell them to “attack” “heal” “use magic” or “protect Clive” or whatever in a menu, so that they would help without us having the need to control them. Other games have done that too.

Any critique aside from the above mentioned?

> Plenty, to be honest. I did not like how some characters were just there to… die. Oliver for example. It was also weird how he was Joshuas and Dions Halfbrother and non of them seemed to be sad about the boy – an innocent child no less – having to be killed because of Ultima. Clive kept calling Anabella “Mother” which seems absolutely weird given all the circumstances. Why did he never start just saying “The douches” or “Lady Annabella” or something like that? Calling her “Mother” sounded like an emotional connection that he should not have to her in the first place and didn’t have when she ended up killing herself for whatever reason other then one more useless character dying quickly. Why did Joshua never search for Clive? Why didn’t he stay with Clive after he saved him before the timeskip? Why did Clive never actively search for Joshua after finding out he is alive but totally lost control of his panic when he saw the Phoenix fighting Ifrit? How did Terrance and Jote survive what happened when Bahamut lost control? And why is it that Joshua immediately went to Jote after waking up but Dion wasn’t frantically searching for Terrance? Given Mids great inventions you are telling me they have to use a firestone to make fire instead of having some sort of lighter in the future? OH! And I almost forgot the battles. One battle after another. You think your done and then comes a stronger enemy. Finally beat that one? Here comes the next! Oh and then we give you a small cut-scene as a break and only then you finally get the actual boss of this sequence. Happened all the time and the element of surprise was gone after they constantly repeated that. Instead it was just annoying as fuck in the end!

Do you think Clive is still alive?

> Lets assume he is… the curse has taken his hand already, how long do you think it would take for him to die a painful and cruel death with the curse turning him into stone slowly but surely? He is dead either way. I would like for him to be alive and I guess the game left it somewhat open for interpretation for a reason… but I seriously doubt he lives. If he did, they could have given us a much more satisfying and fulfilling ending. With him coming home to Jill and Torgal. Telling Jote and Mid that Joshua didn’t make it. Seeing Terrance and the little girl to tell them about Dion. Showing how he start to help the world become a better place, start fulfilling his fathers wishes or leave the continent with Jill to live somewhere else. Meaning that IF Clive is alive and the curse is not killing him slowly but surely, then they could have done MUCH better with the ending and still deprived us of it. Which would suck!

So it is time to give points and say a few words in regard to why!

> Music: 4,5 out of 5 points. The music was good. They used some songs from older games, which was great. But I somewhat missed THAT song, if you get me. The one music that just… stays with you throughout the game. Like “To Zanarkand” did in FF10. That why I take half a point off. Tho I have to say the final songs did sound really nice. Just not… quite good enough.

> Graphics: 4,5 out of 5 points. The graphics were good but somehow at time I felt like the ones form FF7R were better for some reason. I don’t know why. But I totally missed those “OMG the graphics are just so beautiful in this game” – moments that I had plenty of times in FF7R. That is why I take half a point off here too. > Battle-System: 2,5 out of 5 points. To fast paced and thus often chaotic. To hard without the modifications. No healer. No healing magic. And while the Idea with the power of the Eikons was nice and all, I found myself staying with the 3 I felt most comfortable with. So being able to use them all would have been better in my eyes, as it should have made more sense to catch them all, if you get me.

> Characters: 5 out of 5 points. No complains here. They were all easily likably and even people like Benedikta with her story could pull on your heartstrings. So well done.

> Plot: 3 out of 5 points.

So much wasted potential once more. The first half of the game was so great but then it felt like SE ran out of ideas and were rushing through the end-part once again and just… left to much open or put important stuff into sidequests and… you know… just wanted to kill as much people as possible and sometimes they just created characters so they could be killed. It was… not a bad plot, but it wasn’t blowing me away either. I enjoyed it only for the first half of the game. So I was generous not giving it less than 3 points. So that makes 19,5 out of 25 points. Which would likely mean 8 out of 10 points. But I honestly am not sure if I shouldn’t give it 7,5 out of 10 points instead, because of the lacking ending.

All in all it was a nice game, the ending has just pulled me down a bit with disappointment. I enjoyed playing it mostly blind for once and I guess it was worth finally getting a PS5.
