Idk if I ever posted art deco mermaid. She's from a graphic design class that I hated and failed. My task was to design art deco symbols I made her while I was studying art deco which is why her name is art deco mermaid. I'm not good at naming things

Watercolor Villages Galore!
Such imagination in the Saturday Whimsical Watercolors 1 Class I can’t even wrap my head around it!
These photos represent a smattering of the fabulous and imaginative paintings that came out of class last week! The colors, doodles, collage, words and details are absolutely OUT OF THIS WORLD!!
Here are some more photos of the creativity:
This past Saturday we worked on using less paint and more water for a less saturated look. We also worked on learning how to paint different mushrooms and how to create adorable collage characters to add to our work. It’s always a lot of fun in this class, filled with painting, tunes and lots of laughs!

satin black moved into its current location about three weeks ago, and theyve tortured brews abridged ever since
they were at a smaller location for 3 years prior, but they outgrew it when each of them independently went a little viral online for their work
everyone has a license to both pierce and tattoo, but iwa/akaashi stick to tattooing and suna sticks to piercing
akaashi’s the only one who went to art school
iwa taught himself on youtube
suna and sakusa taught themselves by practicing on each other – all of suna’s tattoos are by sakusa and all of sakusa’s piercings are by suna exclusively
it went a little like this the first time around: "i can do this. i dont need instructions-" "ARE YOU FUCKING SURE ABOUT THAT!!!!"
akaashi specializes in black and grey tattoos and iwa does color; sakusa does both but prefers black and grey
iwa’s best known for watercolor style art and akaashi’s best known for geometric art
sakusa’s best known for japanese style art
suna's keeps trying to sell people on new and strange places to get pierced. this is dangerous and sakusa has banned him from doing it 8 times already.
hes actually so good at his job, hes just an idiot
theyre total assholes who chain smoke in the shop and swear at each other from across the room
the shop motto is "make them horny until they come back" and boy does it work
every single one of their clients transferred across the city with them when they moved
sakusa doesn't actually take new clients anymore, he just keeps up with regulars. he's very adamant about this
he is most often found in his office, which is also his private studio
the shop playlist consists of music added by sakusa, suna, and iwa -- they tried to get akaashi in on it but he got apple music just to spite them and wears his headphones when he works
suna can and WILL add the most unhinged shit to the playlist. there is a near-daily incident where sakusa tries to skip past suna's songs but suna keeps going back to them just to be annoying
this results in the shop being filled with the nonstop sound of skipping songs and sakusa screaming at him from his office
iwa usually joins in too because he has a short temper
akaashi always has to put his gun down and dissociate, because he can feel himself about to fuck up his lines with how hard his eye is twitching
akaashi has the least tattoos but that’s really not saying much; they have a board in sakusa’s office with the running count for each of them
everyone who comes in for the first time always sees two tattoo artists: iwa, who sits in the corner chain smoking and frowning and generally looking like he could kill you; and akaashi, who is generally polite and looks way less scary than iwa.
and they always choose akaashi, because he looks nice
he is not fucking nice. he is mean as shit. iwaizumi is the nicest one in that shop.
iwa so often is the type to roughly grumble "oh, yeah we can take a break -- this placement always hurts like a bitch. i need a smoke anyway" (hes already smoking).
akaashi keiji is the type to whisper "oh, did that hurt? pussy." and go in even more.
he is mean as shit and everyone makes this mistake.
sakusa and suna met in high school -- they would skip class together and sit behind the school smoking and blasting bass boosted music
theres something about running from campus security every day that bonds two people into brotherhood
theyre like,,,, fucking carbon copies of each other, these two -- two tall as fuck, tatted up, pierced up dudes with matching judgmental expressions and chipped black nail polish, standing outside the shop smoking, talking shit, and glaring at anyone who comes out of the stupid ass 3-in-1 shop next door
they met iwa and akaashi during their apprenticeship. they really didnt get along at first, but it takes a very unique combination of crazy to be able to open the kind of tattoo shop sakusa wanted.
and he had his combination of crazy right there in front of him.
iwa’s the most normal one and just wants to be akaashi’s friend. thats all he wants. he wants to make his silly little money and be akaashis silly little friend.
iwa is the only one akaashi trusts for literally anything related to the shop but he wont ever say that
it's so painfully obvious that suna named their group chat. sakusa stopped trying to change it back years ago.

✨ Thank you for being in the fandom! ✨
Being here, you have contributed so much and have made so many people happy and excited. Now, just so we can get to know you better:
What made you first read the books, and which SJM series did you begin with first?
What character across all of her books do you relate to the most and why?
What inspired you to begin contributing to the fandom (i.e., fanfics, artwork, commissions, analysis, all of the above, or something else?)
Are there any accounts that you’d like to shoutout that have either inspired you, or made you feel the most welcomed and loved here?
💕 Thank you again for all that you do 💕
Awwwww thank you 💕
1. What made you first read the books, and which series did you begin with?
I found ACOTAR on tiktok in 2022. I remember that it was the same time the Barnes and Noble SF exclusive edition came out because I was buying one book at a time as I read and when I got to SF I was going to get the exclusive B&N edition but it was black and it didn’t match the rest of my copies haha. I read CC after I finished ACOTAR and officially joined the fanbase via a discord server around the same time.
2. What character across all of her books do you relate to the most and why?
I relate to both Nesta and Elain. Nesta has a lot of feelings of self-hatred which I relate to, and I think her mental health journey is very relatable and inspiring. I relate to Elain because she’s very much a people pleaser who keeps her thoughts to herself. I love both of them so much and I’m so excited for Elain’s journey because I just know she’ll be even more relatable.
3. What inspired you to begin to contribute to the fandom?
I have been writing for years but I always kept it to myself because idk, I kind of treated writing as an extreme version of daydreaming and I felt like daydreaming was embarrassing 😂😭 but I work so hard on ACOEAS for nearly three years and I was inspired by writing friends I met online both inside the fanbase and outside the fanbase, so I got the courage to finally post my stuff! I think accepting that you’re a nerd among nerds is so helpful: we’re all passionate and in love with these ships and characters, and when you talk to likeminded people, you just feel inspired. Both @zenkindoflove , @fierling , and two friends outside the fanbase were the first to read my writing and give me advice and encouragement, and that was so helpful.
And for art, I always was into art, I have been doing art classes for so many years. But art school really destroyed my mental health and creativity, so I dropped out and fell into a 6 year art slump where I couldn’t finish ANY of my projects. I felt so disheartened and sad, but I really think fanbases help with creativity and inspiration. I have so many headcanons and characters and ships I’m passionate about, so I felt compelled to get back into drawing and painting. Getting my drawing tablet for Christmas was an absolute game changer, and so many of my friends and mutuals are so encouraging and inspiring! @jadedbugart is so creative and has the same passion for Pinterest as I do and her pumping out so many gorgeous watercolor sketches was so motivating! And @bonecarversbestie ‘s organization, passion, and humor is so enjoyable and inspiring, @works-of-heart is incredibly talented, and I wish I could paint that gorgeous glowing lighting she always has in her art, and @fierling ‘s talent and expertise is such an amazing help!
4. Are there any accounts that you’d like to shoutout that have either inspired you, or made you feel the most welcomed and loved here?
I did a few shoutouts but I have so many more!!

Got a terrible migraine again today so after sending some work papers, I laid face-down on the couch, thinking why does it bother me so much. Because my migraine probably had something to do with my overthinking and getting pissed off since morning again.
Hate to go therapy couch style but maybe it did started all with my mother….
I won’t go into detail about it because her issues are not the point here, but many of the drawings I did over the years were destroyed by her. One could try to explain to her that water destroys paper over and over but it wouldn’t do anything. Maybe it will only lead to frustration.
I’ve just taken a photo and then ripped and thrown away around 40 old drawings that she poked with a needle or splashed with holy water to the point some were unrecognizable. I had done so in the past, to the point I barely have anything that hasn’t been done in recent years.
Why poked and splashed with holy water? because she had these ideas that devils and evil spirits sent by witches touched them and are bringing us bad luck and harm us through them. Demonizing in a way my drawings - anatomy studies, fanarts, oc sketches, concept art sketch for old competitions, holiday cards etc. My hard work, done with love and clean thoughts. Hours and days of my life, gone, for nothing.
I used to draw high school watercolor holiday cards for friends and colleagues, with my cute animal mascots. Did one for her once too. It got splashed with water and ruined on that very first evening. This is how a New Year card that I just threw away looked, and why I stopped doing them. An effort gone to waste. I can only protect them from such fate if I don’t create them in the first place.
Tumblr media
I remember having so many of my drawings destroyed and getting into arguments with her and crying over my time and effort getting so violently disrespected and discarded like less than garbage.
I remember not wanting to bring home my graduation art project - a full on illustrated manuscript, a sort of origami book set with hidden parts. Everyone in class had the right to take their artwork home after a while. I feared that. I worked so hard for almost a year for that. I left it with my art teacher and asked a colleague to take pictures of it so I have something to remember it by. I never got the pictures. I did not have a good quality camera on my phone back then so I don’t have pictures of many of my old drawings. Some won competitions, some were sold by the school, the others ended up in the garbage. I don’t even have something to remember them by.
Anyway, yeah… if I think about it, it does play a part in why this online situation bothers me, the feeling of pointlessness in putting all that time and effort into drawing, sharing for nothing, when it’s all the same for people as long as they have a pretty pic to look at.

The next time they meet, it's in a different room this time. No turrets.
She had spray paint cans in both of her hands, spraying a little painting of someone on the wall. It's not someone they recognize.
The drawing was depicted in an anime art style.
A young teenager with a black turtleneck worn on top with a brown cardigan with some baggy pants and a pair of grey shoes. Her short brown hair had the side bangs tied into small braids, one on each side of her face.
She grins at the sight of her small painting, proud of herself, before the smile drops with a sigh. "Well, if only I could access the Internet. Bunni would be proud of this little painting," She mutters to herself.
She couldn't really shake away the scenario of what happened with her and that disembodied voice in the ceiling controlling the turrets.
The way they sounded so desperate, calling themselves names when they failed at shooting her-
And then suddenly, all the turrets, some of the doors with displays, and everything else just.. went out.
It worried her. At least, just for a bit. She was still... Not quite comfortable with the idea of ever meeting that voice again, but she couldn't help but be worried.
So here she is. Reverting back to one of her hobbies that calms her. Painting. Well, any form of drawing really but more preferably, watercolor. But since spray paint is the only available option, it'll have to do.
She looks up and a camera is staring at her with its little light red.
"... Hey." She calls out. She feels awkward doing this. It looks like she's just talking to the air. Or maybe the voice or person isn't there, and everything just went back online.
Well, at least she's trying.
pAInter had been flipping through cams, keeping track of Expendables, he didn't feel like interacting with any just yet so they defaulted to Good People doors and Gauntlets, though he didn't talk through any of them. If he was lucky he'd catch a glimpse of The Eyefestation passing by one of the empty rooms, he liked her green. Flipping like that is how he came across a familiar face and in the time he wrestled with himself on wether to let himself be known to apologize or just leave her be, she started painting. And he was hooked, now caught red handed...camera-ed?
"...You...you draw very well, your art is pretty." pAInter's so awkward right now, maybe they should ask him to give them socialization classes next time, they've grown rusty...

hihi ! i wanted to ask if you're a self-taught artist or if you went to art school to get where you are right now? ^_^
hi! the short answer is "technically no", as i've gone to art school.
my longer answer is the following:
i have complicated thoughts about the term "self-taught". it's difficult to know where to draw the line, so to speak.
for example, if i take an online course (say, a class101 course, or skillshare), does that still "count" as being self taught? does taking AP art count? or a public watercolor class, or even following a tutorial, whether online or those "how to draw manga" books (debatable but that's the point of this being complicated, I think).
what about if you went to art school, and learned very little from the staff? most of my teachers assigned projects, but it was up to us to develop the skills necessary to carry it out. they would not teach us how to draw, but rather simply gave us guidelines on the project (i.e, it has to be a three page comic, or a work based on a news article). i've also encountered plenty of teachers that have done... the opposite of teaching.
basically, a lot of my time in art school was spent teaching myself the necessary components to fulfill the requirements set for me. i don't know if that still counts as "self-taught", even though i was the only one working.
i do think i've benefitted from some teacher's knowledge and the opportunities afforded to me (access to supplies/printing machines, etc.), so i'm not saying i'm entirely self taught or that art school isn't "worth it" (that's an entire other discussion that i don't care to get into), but i also know i've spent a LOT of my time teaching myself too, during university but especially growing up, when my family was against my wanting to be an artist in the first place.
to summarize, i think everyone is self-taught to some degree, and the idea of "self-taught" and suddenly not being self taught because you went to art school is an arbitrary way to categorize people.
