forever thinking about royal’s bad ending. my thing with it is that maruki doesn’t necessarily give anyone what they want most, he gives them what’s most appropriate for them to want within a maruki-approved framework. iirc there’s a really interesting text sequence in the game where he just straight up changes someone’s career because they’re not “good” at it, regardless of whether that’s what they actually want. why struggle at all? ever? right?
and so ultimately i don’t think goro akechi’s greatest wish is necessarily ren. i think it’s a wish for sure, but his greatest wish is his own agency. despite any regrets he has and the fact that shido and yaldabaoth treated him like a pawn, he's generally pretty adamant about owning his choices and their consequences. he doesn't want that erased. and instead, you end up with pleasant boy™ if you take maruki’s deal. maybe maruki (incorrectly) thinks sanding off all of akechi’s rough edges will make him easier for ren to love. but the crux of it is really that maruki has to essentially lobotomize him to preserve the illusion of his perfect reality, because their ideologies are so diametrically opposed that akechi would spend every waking moment fighting back.
this isn’t to undermine ren’s importance to akechi btw — he explicitly acknowledges that he wishes they had met earlier, and there are countless moments throughout their confidant that underscore how much it means to him that they mirror each other so well. he absolutely does want more time with ren, just not under these circumstances.
and that’s also what makes ren’s choice on 2/2 doubly devastating. he knows that either way he loses akechi. and if he takes maruki’s deal, he loses him knowing that his last moments with the real akechi involved the two of them being unforgivably out of sync.
#shuake#ren amamiya#goro akechi#takuto maruki#persona 5#DOES THIS MAKE SENSE#this has been on my mind for ages#siri play ideal and the real dot mp3#like the two of them happily playing chess together hits hard bc in another life they could’ve had that#but the thing is#neither of them want another life! they just want each other as is!#me for the millionth time: takuto maruki most interesting antagonist of all time#tired of all the one dimensional evil villains#give me the pathetic wet cat man who projects his issues w his ex gf onto u and turns ur bf into a stepford wife ❤️#will the real goro akechi please stand up#*#wishing i had the time to replay this game for 3rd sem alone but alas. capitalism strikes again. adulthood is a scam#so instead i am rotating these guys endlessly in my mind and throwing my thoughts out into the void#eta: have really been enjoying seeing ppl's tags on this!!!#thank u for rotating them in ur mind as well

Everyday I exist and every day I get more and more exhausted seeing the “lol Batman looks at Danny and goes “who’s gonna adopt this kid” He’s so adoptable!” posts.
#bones rants#bones speaks#dpxdc#bones writes in the tags#i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again#GIVE AN ACTUAL REASON FOR BRUCE TO WANT TO ADOPT DANNY!#this man had seen thousands of black hair and blue eyed kids in misfortunate situations and with backstories parallel to his own#so why is Danny the exemption and is the person he puts under his (bat)wing#make a reason and make it compelling. I understand forwarding a plotline to get to the scene you envisioned#but making a character one dimensional ain’t it man.#always ask why Danny is the exemption to the other thousands of kids who could’ve gone under Bruce’s wing. Bruce is a very paranoid person#and doesn’t bring people into his inner circle easily. offering a complete stranger a room in his home could happen#maybe he then relates to Danny and wants to help him with his need for Justice#and THEN adopts him but man oh man. look at all of the robins adoptions.#that shit wasn’t willy nilly and it had actual weight behind the adoptions

We could have had it all...
[First] Prev <–-> Next
#poorly drawn mdzs#mdzs#wei wuxian#jin guangyao#nie mingjue#oh man....the NieYao dynamic....All these complex emotions and ties to each other and they *aren't* canon?#Sorry fellas but the way you proposed writing your bro a letter of recommendation & agreeing to it was very fruity.#And *then* Lan Xichen shows up. And both JGY and NMJ are head over heels for him and have been for ages apparently.#Its like they found out that LXC had been two timing them this whole time and their response was: “UM. HOT?”#I'm tempted to redraw these three as that one bisexual-core image with Anne Hathaway. You know the one. It fits.#It's strange seeing all of this fondness in retrospect compared to the betrayal you feel in The Untamed after a longer build up.#Initially it felt like 'oops we made him a little too 2 dimensional as a villain - quick make him more sympathetic'.#JGY even had a scene with him kissing babies. As any politician would do to improve their image.#but it does come around to really showing a more authentic JGY and the tension between him and NMJ.#As an angst lover I am personally all for 'what could have been' relationships and they DO have it all.

The most recent episode of Interview with a Vampire let's us see Lestat's side of the story and see how it compares to Louis' accounting of their relationship. As a result, it reaffirms just how unreliable of a narrator Louis is, but it also further illuminates elements of his character that the director and writers have been playing with since the beginning of the show.
There's this part in the episode where Lestat turns to Louis and apologizes and it's framed with Lestat turned to Louis on one side and Claudia on his other side. They're the angel and devil on Louis' shoulders, but who is the angel and who is the devil? And as my friend said, Armand and Daniel are placed into that same dynamic with Louis later on. We are being asked to decide who to trust, who's telling the truth, who's the good guy, but the fact of unreliability robs us of that decision.
This whole story is about Louis, he's the protagonist, though not the narrator, and he is constantly being pulled in two directions, no matter when or where he is in his story. He's a mind split in two, divided by nature and circumstance. He's vampire and human, owner and owned, father and child, angel and devil. He's both telling the story and being told the story. His history is a story he tells himself, and as we've seen, sometimes that story is not whole.
Louis is the angel who saved Claudia from the fire but he's also the devil who sentenced her to an life of endless torment, the adult trapped in the body of a child. He's the angel who rescued Lestat from his grief and also the devil who abandoned him, who couldn't love him, could only kill and leave him.
He's pulled in two directions, internally and externally at all times and so it's no wonder that he feels the need to confess, first to the priest, then Daniel, and then Daniel again.
He's desperate to be heard, a Black man with power in Jim Crow America who's controlled by his position as someone with a seat at the table but one who will never be considered equal. He doesn't belong to the Black community or the white community, he can't. He acts as a go-between, a bridge, one who is pushed and pulled until he can't take it anymore. He's a fledgling child to an undead father, he's a young queer man discovering his sexual identity with an infinitely experienced partner. He's confessing because he wants to be absolved, that human part of him that was raised Catholic, that child who believed, he wants to be saved. He wants to be seen.
Louis wants to attain a forever life that is morally pure, but he can't. He's been soiled by sin, by "the devil," as he calls Lestat, and he can never be clean again. Deep down, I think he knows this, but he can't stop trying to repent. He tries to self-flagellate by staying with Lestat and then tries to repent by killing him, but can't actually follow through. He follows Claudia to Europe to try and assuage his guilt. He sets himself on fire, attempts to burn himself at the stake, to purify his body, rid himself of the dark gift.
Louis is a man endlessly trying to account for the pain he has caused and he ultimately fails, over and over again, because he can't get rid of what he is. A monster. He's an endlessly hungry monster. He's hungry for love, for respect, for power, for forgiveness, for death. He's a hole that can never be filled. He can never truly acquire any of those things because he will always be punishing himself for wanting and needing them in the first place. He will never truly believe he deserves them and as a result, can't accept them if they are ever offered. He can never be absolved for he has damned himself by accepting the dark gift and thus has tainted himself past the point of saving.

Love when people write Toji like they're in dire need of a dick me down but I love it even more when they write him all fluffy and soft. Give him the domestic life he was so ready to settle for. Give him the chance to be an actual father to Megumi and Tsumiki and not leave the fragmented hopes that died with mamaguro. Give him a path away from bloodshed after time and time again of having to wash his hands, his weapons, clothes, of crimson red--whether his, anothers, or both.
Let him find a new love, that while it might not be mamaguro, but helps mend the pieces he lets chip away, too tired to do it himself, he doesn't know how, he thinks he's a lost cause. That there's no point. but you can prove him wrong. It doesn't even need to be love, just someone who helps him see he doesn't have to be alone.
I love a soft Toji, where his inner child gets the care he deserved, and where he gets to truly live his life and not just survive or wake up for the next morning.
#toji fushiguro#jjk#jjk toji#jujustu kaisen#jujutsu toji#jujutsu kaisen toji#i just think he's neat#i went from hating him to loving him and thats genuinely because of fics ive read here on tumblr#they gave me a new perspective on him#like okay#big sexy dom man is a killer in thr sheets#but he's not so one dimensional and he's got feelings that we didn't get to see much of and i find it so absolutely lovely to see when he's#written with his feelings and allowed to feel them or when he's written to be so overwhelmed by them in such a good way and its just#ISNSHSJSJS GSSSVSHSJ#I'd like to hug him but he wouldn't let me#but this is my imagination soooooo

How to Prevent Yourself From Changing Into Your Counterpart 101
I like to think that Sun would cover himself in battery-powered lights (at least three different strings so that if one went dark, he would have time to swap the batteries)
Moon's outfit was a joke based on that one Bugs Bunny meme but I still stand by the fact that he'd 100% cover himself up with as much clothing as possible to prevent any of his sensors from picking up light.
#fnaf sun#fnaf moon#fnaf security breach#five nights at freddy's#fnaf#when i showed this to my mom her eyes went so wide and she was like THE MOON IS 3D#and i was like yeah but the suns pose is#and she repeated The MOON is THREE DIMENSIONAL#didnt expect her to go wild over the moon man but im not complaining#the picture idea came from an rp server where i was playing as both these guys#and at one point sun was asking himself if there was a way to completely stop moon from showing up#and at another point moon asked the same exact question about sun#two sides of the same coin#the same yet opposite#thats my portrayal of them

Trying to analyze the tropes in my own fics to see if I think they're successful as component pieces and getting so confused I give myself psychic damage send help
#spazzcat barks#i was trying to figure out how -- if at all -- the 5 man band structure appears in RnS#Helsknight has been labeled: Leader Lancer and Strong Man#i think i am more firmly planting him on Lancer/Strong Man#but the story itself makes a compelling case for Helsknight is the leader but the story is narrated by his Lancer [Tanguish]#Tanguish not surprisingly Ive put in: Hero/Leader Lancer and Heart#EB i think could be Strong Man or Heart with emphasis on Heart#Martyn could be the Smart Guy for Tanguish or the Lancer for Helsknight#in which case if Martyn is Helsknights Lancer than Tanguish could compellingly be Helsknight's Smart Guy instead#conversely Tango doesnt fit into the 5 man band structure. he is instead an inciting insident / catalyst#who could become a support character role a la Heart later but only once he gets more screen time#as of right now hes very one dimensional#meanwhile Welsknight is one of three plot antagonists#the Main Antagonist is the Universe/Death#it represents a force of nature antag#the major secondary Antag and the Tanguish specific antag is the Demon#he represents what needs to change about the world and the concepts that Tanguish is ideallgocally opposed to#Welsknight however is theeeeeee#oh words#i belive its called the Saboteur? Antag archetype?#he is the thing that breaks things down from the inside#also to be further established#anyway ive been thinking about this for hours >:/#if i can not put my little guys into their assigned boxes i think that means i didnt quite make the mark on those boxes#which isnt inherently bad -- the main cast of RnS is a duo Hero/Right Hand Man archetype first#and a 5 man band second#but still! frustrating

By virtue of the way it has organized its technological base, contemporary industrial society tends to be totalitarian. For "totalitarian" is not only a terroristic political coordination of society, but also a non-terroristic economic-technical coordination which operates through the manipulation of needs by vested interests.

hey guys so I just started reading Flatland by Edwin A. Abbott and OMG AHSBNSBSBSNSNBSHZHSHDBFHGGHFHGRJ2KSHSBSNSK AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I LOVE THINKING ABOUT THE RELATIVITY BETWEEN DIMENSIONS!!!!!!
#probably the nerdiest thing i will ever read in my entire life but I AM SO HAPPY#Its the unabridged and corrected 1992 republication btw. if you wanna get specific#the only book in which i have actually decided to read the introductory notes and i do NOT regret it because the editor's one IMMEDIATELY#brought up the “oh but surely the second dimension has thickness how else would flatlanders see anything” AND GAVE A REALLY GOOD ANSWER.#which i cannot tell you here. bc it is several paragraphs long and idk how i would shorten it. i would hit tag limit. if thats a thing.#anyways. I'm only a little bit into the first part which basically explains how Flatland works as a society so i haven't even gotten to the#sphere yet but OH MAN I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO EXCITED ABOUT A ROUND OBJECT IN MY LIFE#IM LOSING IT OVER THIS BOOK AAAA :D#me: im so glad i dont have a math class during my senior year! now i dont have to learn anything math-related!#also me: but what if i started studying a complex and almost entirely theoretical part of geometry#bc YEAH i didn't just buy this book bc of gravity falls. I BOUGHT IT BC IVE BEEN RESEARCHING THE 4TH DIMENSION WOOOOOOO!!!!!#one thing i will say i dont like. introductory note suggests the the 4th dimension might be time. this is ok tho bc its followed up with#also saying that time is not a spatial dimension and exist across the 0 1st 2nd and 3rd dimensions which. that epuld mean we live in 4d#already. so. i was worried for a second but THANK YOU THANK YOU OH MY GOD PEOPLE TRYING TO SAY “OH THE 4TH DIMENSION IS TIME” I HATE THAT SO#MUCH AAAAGGHHHH AT LEAST RECOGNIZE ITS NOT SPATIAL!!! TIME IS NOT A SPATIAL DIMENSION!!!!!!! IF IT WAS THEN 4D TRAVEL AND TIME TRAVEL WPULD#BE FHE SAME THING AND DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY MUCH COOLER POSSIBILITIES WPULD BE THROWN AWAY IF THAT WAS THAT CASE!!!!! AND. AND. IF THE 4TH#DIMENSION IS TIME. THEN WHATS THE 5TH?? 6TH?? YPU CANT KEEP GOINF ON FOREVER LIKE THAT. YPURE JUST MAKEING MORE 3D WORLSS WITH STUFF IN#ADDITION TO TIME. INTERESTING BUT THAY IS NOT ABOHT HIGHRER DIEMSBSJSNSBAKAJSHDHDHHDHDHDJ#sorry for the rant. jsut. agh i want a spatial 4th dimension. i dont think tesseracts exist through time that would just be an aged cube#anyways yeahhh i love the 4th dimension. new hyperfixation or new special interest? ill have to wait and see. anyways i have done it i have#an oc whos 4 dimensional now and she is the coolest ever i love her#but yeah this book is sosososo good i am literally gonna bring it to school to read instead of draw bc i would lose it if i didn't#10/10 would recommend to anyone who wants to Think

"True crime is so disrespectful to victims and all it does is glorify serial killers" so youve only watched youtube makeup vloggers and decided that represented an entire diverse genre of crime media. And youve also decided that the only reason anybody would ever be interested in learning about people like serial killers is because theyre attracted to them in some way. Have you like, actually seen any officially-produced true crime?
"All detective shows are are just copaganda. If you like that shit genre then youre no better than a real life cop" so youve only watched dragnet and a few of the jankier episodes of law & order and decided that represented an entire diverse genre of media. And have decided that a genre meant for adult viewers have child-level media literacy and cant possibly distinguish the difference between a fictional precinct working with fake stories and the reality of policing. Or that a genre that often runs stories about the inner workplace politics of those fictional precincts never criticize them. Have you like, actually gone deeper into the genre than criminal minds, or are the names "L.A. Confidential" and "Mindhunter" foreign to you?
#some thoughts#idk man im sick of the one dimensional nutpicking arguments#that are easily blown down the moment you like. name one thing that doesnt do that
