I finally drew another Oc of mine,

His name is Hitori (name meaning: one person/alone)

Ofc you also can use him in fanfics and fanarts as long as you give credits in the notes. :D

And I probably made some of the shadows wrong but this is honestly the first time that I actually tried it-

Infos about him:

• He is, as you may noticed, blind. He wasn’t born blind but he eventually lost his eyesight when he was a very young whelp because of a fight against a much older troll. He always had some problems with his eyes and through slavery and the fight he lost it permanently. (He was forced into the fight. His former master ordered it for fun)

• He ofc also wears piercings (bc everyone does in my world). Kodin asked Strickler to make them and he ofc helped. Hitori enjoys the thought of wearing them even tho he can’t actually see how it looks like. And ofc all the memories of making them stay.

• The chain around his neck can't be broken or get of because a magic spell. It was made after Bular wanted to hold him as a slave. A part of it broke of eventually after many tries but the rest is still on his neck. It may will fall of if his master is dead or if you use veeeeeery strong magic.

• He isn’t a changeling. He actually still is a pure troll but he isn’t treated as one. He was captured and used as a slave after his parents died and he was 'bought' by the Janus order. Bular lets him live as long as he serves a purpose... no matter what.

• He currently is only 15 in human years and about 168 in troll years, in season one. (I still don’t know if it makes sense and I still don’t care). He was 5 in human years when they made him a slave and about 9 when the Janus order bought him and then he finally got free when he was 14. And in Rott he is 17.

• He got his eye bandage after loosing his eyesight and he let's it on until Bular died. He then takes it of after most parts of his chain finally broke with Bulars death because that's when he finally is free. He finally dosen't has to hide anymore. (I believe that troll slaves get magic chains that break until their Master dies but his never got of because he technically wasn’t bought but "just" used by Bular.)

• He almost always walks on 4 legs because it's easier yfor him to coordinate himself. He's got a sort of sixth sense over the years and can find around easily, mostly at places he knows, through hearing/smelling and ofc through his feet and hands. He basically learned to feel if someone is walking through the vibration on the ground. He also walks on 2 legs when he is comfortable around someone or when feels save somewhere.

• He still runs into things since he still is a child and can't work through everything but it got better over the time. His tail and ears ofc show his emotionens. His tail also helps him to stabilize himself by holding onto something/someone.

If he was in the canon show:

Strickler and Nomura heard of the child that Bular used as a slave and at first they didn’t do much since that is pretty normal but after Kodin gave them a guilty conscience they both decided to hide Hitori in the Janus Order because Bular never actually goes in there. That was about one year before the canon show starts.

Season 1 he mostly hides until Bular dies. Strickler and Kodin sometimes visit him and bring him audiobooks so that he, at least, has something. Nomura acts like she didn’t care but she bought him a wolf plush because he loves them so much. (He saw one with 4 years, ofc in human years, before he lost his eyesight completely). And after Bulars dead he actually also goes out of the Janus Order sometimes. As for the Angor rot part, he simply sometimes goes to Strickler and runs against his table, couch and everything else in the process. He and Kodin eventually get like brothers and Strickler ofc gets another child to take care of...like Team trollhunters and Kodin aren’t enough-

(Come on Strickler technically did adopt children with Barbara in season 3, so I actually can make him adopt two kids earlier. LET ME THINK THAT HE WOULD DO IT-)

Season 2 he exists with Kodin and they reunite with Nomura and Strickler together.

Season 3 he also exists in the background and does nothing besides desperately trying to help with something until the human parents find out about everything. I believe that Kodin and Hitori are at Strickler's home while he is with the parents. Barbara finds out about them a few days before the battle and Hitori lives in the lake residence until he goes in the hospital with Barbara in the battle of Morgana. He almost dies because he accidently walks blindly out of the door but Barbara got him inside again. (Okay i know this wasn’t funny)

After that he lives with Strickler, Barbara and Kodin. He is in the background in 3 below and Wizards and sometimes Kodin takes him to easy missions and Barbara is not happy about it. She tells them to stop and they chill at home until Rott. Hitori stays in the castle while they fought the titans and finally stays with Barb and Kodin until the timeline gets reset.

(I know that Strickler is in much of these Ocs storys but come on he is the head of the Janus Order, if he wouldn't notice then he just would be stupid. And I think it could fit his character)

I need a ref! I'm not great at visualizing from text descriptions, so if you could provide references and a general sketch of what you want, that would be great! It doesn't need to be good at all--what I have in mind is really nothing more than a stick figure scribble. It just needs to get the idea across somehow.

Does Raven and Jelly have MANY interactions with other OCs? (Like one of your friends OCs) I’m curious

Hey there! To date, Jelly have zero, Raven have about 6 only, 3 were within close friends, 3 as a gift for fellow cod artists

I do want to share why xD know that this isn't meant to be harsh or dismissive, just an explanation of where I'm coming from.

Although I am pretty much okay with most thing in COD, I'm however extremely picky about how I portray Raven because of past experiences where her character had been invalidated, misinterpret or forced into dynamics that just don't align with her personality or backstory (eg. being best friends with medic OCs, shoehorn with a group of Shadow company OCs or drawn with set of clothes that's just...well that's just not Raven).

Part of this is of course, on myself. I've developed a specific way I write her but I struggle to fully explain how she works xD I think unlike most COD OCs, the way I've wrote her background made it so she's not really suited to being casually thrown in every situation (like of the primary reason was how she grew up from a highly individualistic PMC so socializing is a whole other shebang to deal with) Her relationship with Price is an exception (because I said so LMAO)

That being said tho, this isn't me saying "hey dont put Raven with your own OC, like ever". OC creation is meant to be fun and one of the best part of having them is to mash it with another, and I welcome any fanarts of her (like wdym you drew my bbg let's get married rn-) hence the Raven fanbox post. I think if anyone have an idea or would like to collaborate about placing Raven with their own OC, I'm more than happy to discuss it, just shoot me an ask first :]

Now Jelly is different to Raven, since I've made her from a more casual background and actually wanted her to be more of a character that more people can relate to, anyone's free to draw her with their OC if they want to :3 she's just a sillay gurl, maybe a bit shy and skiddish but she's bubbly to be around with!

There is a severe lack of planning in my fanfic writing with the exception of the Shabby AU ideas and mostly since I don't write in chapters UNLESS I decide to post it early to gain interest (ie Stray and Love Is Just Like That, Sometimes) I really don't even know where chapters are gonna end. Mic's BS Life is FAMOUS for not having been planned at all with exception for the ending, while Crumbled Rooftops actually has an outline. Stray is MOSTLY unplanned and was a Follow The Vibes type thing with some talking it over with Shabby to nail down plot points I wanted to get down. Ironically the lack of planning is why stray chapter 3 has hardly gone anywhere as of yet but I also like not planning so that I can follow the vibes and figure out if something works naturally or not as opposed to stressing over how something SHOULD be going (crumbled rooftops chapter 5 suffered from this strongly since I knew what I wanted to do but several iterations didn't feel right).

26. Which of your fics would you call your wildest ride?

I gotta say Present Mic's Totally Bullshit Life in EVERY sense of the word wild. It started from Aizawa's POV but I wasn't used to writing him yet and switched it to Mic's. Then that vibed so well that almost 4 years ago TO THE DAY I knocked out every bit of the beginning up until Mic and Aizawa meet up again for the first time in years in the span of a few hours. By January/February of 2021 I had until the AWARDS CEREMONY done (and that's about 48k into the story!). This story was not intended to be posted- I was solely writing it for myself as a fun little thing because I'd fallen really hard into MHA and wanted to write it. Stray and a villain au for an OC from Mic's BS Life were started between the time I started this and when I hit the 48k mark. I wasn't interacting with the fandom at all at this point beyond obsessively reading erasermic fic, so my first real foray into interacting with anyone was to join an erasermic discord. Met @purekesseltrash, told them I loved their Rooftop Necromancy fics, formed a friendship, revealed my still in progress story and Bellsa convinced me I HAD to finish it and post it.

It took me till May to finish it (had to cut a smut scene because I wasn't comfortable posting it as is), figured out how to end it, then knocked out the HAPPIEST ending the week my great aunt iris passed because I needed something to distract me (Aunt iris was one of the most iconic people in my life and I looked up to her very much so writing my silly fanfic was a very welcome distraction). Almost posted the story from a McDonald's drive thru.

Even more wild is that this fic STILL gets comments and kudos. I literally just got a new comment yesterday. So many comments have told me that they stayed up all night reading it. @shabby-blog was commisioned by Bellsa to do fanart for it and now me and shabby are buddies because of that. I've been writing since I was 13 but not until I posted this story did I have a story that was a real 'hit'. And LITERALLY all because after consuming all of Vigilantes and as much erasermic fanfic as I could read and the entire anime and manga at the time in 2021 I looked at Mic and Aizawa's friendship and went "okay but what about the two of them healing from the loss of Oboro together and actually showing how it affected them and their friendship".

I owe it nearly entirely to the single panel in vigilantes where Mic tells midnight to call him Mic instead of his name, and now here I am 4 years later (3 and a half since posting) still hearing from people that they love how I wrote the characters growing over the course of the story and that it means a lot to them. Which is something I never expected to see in a comment on a fic I wrote.

Okay okay back with more Bandit questions and observations now!!! Hi!!! First off, what's the model of his gun? Literally just curious, really doesn't mean anything unless I feel like drawing it lmao. Secondly, what's his thoughts on the people in power/the guardians + the queen (I'm lumping the Judge into the guardians)? You said he won't work when he can survive well on his own, but does his dislike stretch out to even wishing harm on the guardians? Actually, does he know if a guardian dies, their Zone dies, too? How knowledgeable is he on the world of OFF's lore and how it functions?? Thirdly, does he have any friends I should know about? You drew him interacting with Project Goldfinch/Just Finch to break up the text in my first ask, what's their relationship? Does Bandit scam him to hell and back, or do they just casually chat every now and then? Fourthly, I VERY BRIEFLY checked out Ask Bandit and here are some observations I made: Uno, how come you ship him with Red from Animal Crossing? Is it cuz they both steal and resell?? If so, that's hilarious and I love your sense of humor. Dos, when drawing him with Elsen 7 I did not know Bandit currently resides in Zone Three, because 7 lives in Zone One. This whole time I was under the impression he travels through Zones for some reason lol? I guess that's my curse of having a handful of ECU Elsen that do that themselves lmao. Last but not least, not something Ask Bandit related, just generally speaking, would you like to see any future doodles I make of Bandit, whether he's interacting with my own OCs or otherwise? Apologies in advance, I didn't make any new Bandit art for this post so I'm just linking something I drew in April that I don't think I shared to tumblr XD Answer time!

I modeled Bandit's gun after a Glock?? Kinda?? I didn't really reference a specific model, more like loosely inspired. I probably should create a prop-reference for it, but I haven't yet.

Bandit's dislike for authority does not stretch to wanting to take out the guardians. It would be counter-intuitive to his role as a merchant to kill off his customers by killing off the guardians. Bandit cares too much about profit, and although the guardians are annoying, without them he wouldn't have profit.

Bandit is fully aware on how the world of OFF works, it's inner workings, and other meta things.

Bandit will say anyone is his friend, even if they clearly hate him. Louis would be the only one that would truly think of Bandit as a friend (except maybe my elsen-sona, but they're a mary-sue type oc and should probably not be counted if we're talking in-universe/story lol)

As Finch is the protagonist in my game concept, Bandit will be the merchant selling them items. Finch is distrusting of Bandit, but sees him as a necessity in their mission. I do have an idea where Bandit does steal something from Finch to propel the plot, but who knows if that'll stay in the final lol

Bandit x Redd is a joke ship created by @brandy-elsen (tagging the account it was posted on and not your current account because I do not wanna waste a tag on this I am sorry Brandy AHHSGFG). All the credits to her for the comedic genius. I think you guessed right as to why that ship exists tho. I just drew it for that post because it met the "two pieces of fanart" criteria I set.

Bandit travels the zones, your initial assumption was right. He is only in Zone 3 on the askbandit blog because of the story being told on there. He's gotta refill his stock of sugar manually since sugar happens to be one of the things he cannot magically pull from his pack.

I would love to see future doodles you make of Bandit! I like collecting all the fanart I get and posting it (with credits/links) to his gallery on toyhouse.

It's 4 am and I cannot sleep so I'm just gonna splooge some random thoughts that I have (some positive, some negative, and some that's probably just nonsense.)

Uhh, I like to get negatives out of the way first so I guess I can start with that.

- Does anyone else miss when art/animation communities felt more niche but open? I'm particularily talking about the animation meme community here cause that's a community I've more or less lurked in for a long time. I remember a time when there was the big three of animation memes a lot of people and myself were inspired by. It feels silly to say that what got me into art were a bunch of independent artists animating anime cats fighting eachother, but that's exactly what happened. I loved these creators (still do) and I looked forward to seeing what else these creators had to offer. As time went on, more creators came in the fray with a lot of cool talent and craftmanship and it was honestly very cool seeing what everyone had to offer. That's something I loved most about AMC, that so many were able to feel free to create whatever they wanted and how wonderful it paid off to see that creativity put into so many special masterpieces of independent art and animation, and that's something I'll always admire. So it breaks my heart to see what the AMC has became. Don't get me wrong, there's still a ton of great artists out there and y'all are fantastic, but I cannot help but feel like the environment in that community especially had gotten a lot more vile than what it started off as. To be fair, that's pretty much any community these days, I'm well aware of that. But I have never seen so much drama, so much infighting, and so much people being deplorable to eachother in my life that it's honestly sickening! I've always wanted to make my own animation memes and I still do, I have a TON of ideas I'd love to get to eventually, but if I ever decide to post them, don't expect me to engage much with the rest of the community. IMO, the best communities you can have are the small close ones you have with your best pals.

- For the past few years, I've been distancing myself from big social media branches and fandoms because of how toxic the environments can be for some of these spaces especially, and it's honestly helped a lot with my mental health (Deleting my Twitter and moving here has honestly been one of the best things I've done last year). It's partially why I've stopped posting so frequently, because really the only people I truly care about pleasing are me and all my close friend groups and found families I've built. I don't really care about statistics and platform building, if people like my stuff, then that's cool. I can look at a post I made with bigger numbers than usual and go "huh, that's pretty neat" and then move on talking about a crossover AU I've been cooking up with my boyfriend. That's not to say I don't appreciate my followers or people who like my content, I do. But know that what I make isn't catered to what'll get me the most attention, it's what'll make me and my family happy. And if people like that, then that's cool. Maybe every now and then I'll ask my followers what they'd like to see, maybe a fanart raffle or sketch request event, I think that'd be nice. But for the most part, this page is very, and I mean VERY self indulgent.

- Uhh I've been doing okay for the most part, personal issues I don't wanna get to aside. I've mainly been working on plushies, commissions and other self indulgent projects. I mentioned before that I got into the latest Cookie Run game, and that's pretty cool. I've mostly focused on making art for that and mine and my boyfriend's OC/AU projects. I'll post more about it when I get there, but for now uhh... gay people.

About the twinklify the twink? That's why I don't go full Dreamling. I have nothing against it, but they way they get twisted 90% of the times is just "uhh that not my Dream" for me. And same with all the Dark Morpheus x f/m reader. "That's not my Morpheus" and it's ok, because a) fanfiction keeps the media alive until the next piece we can get and b) fanfiction keeps people alive too, no matter what they picture. So, it's ok to feel like this, I guess.

I think that's the main takeaway from this. YKINMK after all. I'm a firm believer of "do what you want always" though of course, that doesn't mean you should be free from criticism, it just means maybe don't take criticism to heart ya know? This doesn't mean people should go onto others posts and fanfics and complain! God no! But people should be allowed to complain in their own posts - so long as anything particularly harsh isn't put in the main tags or is tagged accordingly. Like of course people aren't always gonna love everything you do, and sometimes when certain headcanons and ideas get bastardised by fanon echo chambers they become so far removed from canon that you are basically writing an OC with your fave characters face, but that's okay if it brings you joy. Just don't expect everyone to love and adore it ya know?

The problem I have with the extra twinkification of characters in ship dynamics is that I have a problem with m/m ships being twisted so far away from their canon counterparts that one party becomes obviously "feminine" and the other obviously "masculine". By which I mean one character is made extra skinny frail and delicate, submissive, virginal, pure, and always ALWAYS the bottom. The other character becomes huge and muscular and hairy and masculine, and take the role of protector and dominating and experienced and is ALWAYS the top.

Do you see what I mean? This has been prevailent in fandom culture since day 1 of course, and its a huge pet peeve of mine. I do view it as somewhat problematic because it feels like trying to fit a mlm ship into a heternormative box. Its a layered mess of misogyny and homophobia wrapped up in a fandom bow. It was worse years ago, during the SuperWhoLock days, and I will forever be grateful to Misha Collins for beefing up so much he enabled Cas to beat the effeminate twink allegations (knowing Mollins he probably came across a particularly bad fanfic or fanart and then spent several hours staring at himself in a mirror before throwing himself into an intensive gym routine).

I don't think its too prevailent in Dreamling fics, though I guess when you have a whole episode devoted to showing how Dream is pale, thin, beautiful, ethereal, completely hairless, and trapped, its easy to see why fandoms minds went to "twink" and then to "we need to find him a saviour". But I do wish the power dynamic would be a bit more balanced. Dream is no wilting flower. He is all pure lean muscle. He is no frail delicate thing. He has the body of a long distance marathon runner. He is power and self righteousness and fury and control. Yeah, he may be submissive with his lovers, but he's hardly inexperienced.

Hob is also in no way a macho man. He's hairy sure, but that's basically it. He actually isn't all that more muscular than Dream, he's only slightly broader, and he's not taller - I think they are the same height? Again, to stress, people can do what they want always. But please do take time to branch outside of the fandom echo chambers and refamiliarise yourself with canon once in a while. Especially when those echo chambers are leaning towards problematic dynamics like those mentioned above.

This is by no means a dig at any individuals, at any creative works I have come across or anything else of the sort. I just sometimes find the fanon echo chambers and widely accepted headcanons a bit irritating, especially when they don't fit with canon. It's fine on a small scale. I am not the person who is gonna comment "he would not fucking say that" because its mean and those posts are mean. It's when the whole fandom seems to adopt certain ideas, and suddenly any deviation from those ideas seems wrong to fandom at large. It becomes difficult to counter those ideas without suddenly being labelled a hater. Look at all the ridiculous discourse in Good Omens fandom because of how deeply far removed from the original source material the fandom took the characters over the 4 year gap between seasons? They were literally going into Neil Gaimans inbox complaining when season 2 deviated from widely accepted fanon headcanons! To the point that Neil had to clarify that what they were complaining about was never canon to begin with!!

Anyway, this post is probably controversial enough without me prattling on any further. Let me stress one last time that you can do what you want always, and everyone should be able to play in the sandbox however they want - just please check yourselves and your prejudices and do consider if the tropes you are encouraging have any harmful implications before throwing yourself into them.

Art Plans for 2025 + News

Magical Girl Design Prompt Redux

In 2024, I tried to design around 30 magical girls with a different theme by the end of the year. I was not able to do this. At the start I tried to make a new design every day and got burnt out by that. After giving myself less restrictions while still following the prompt list, I ended up losing interest before getting to themes I really liked. So, for this new attempt, I'm ignoring the order of each prompt. If I think of a design for the challenge, I'll post it regardless of what day it's for. That's probably the best way to keep the challenge...a challenge, without losing the fun. Because trust me, coming up with 30 original magical girl designs that look good is challenging enough.

2. Developing Alternate Art styles

As I've been drawing, I've wanted my art to look like a lot of different things. Bad news is, one art style can't have everything you'd want. In order to stylize anything you have to exaggerate some elements, and trying to exaggerate everything usually makes it look bad. Good news is, this can be circumvented by having multiple art styles! I'm not going to set a crazy goal for myself on this, don't expect to have 10 different art styles that look exactly how I want them to look. My goal in this category is to have 3 alternate art styles that feel distinct from each other. They don't have to look perfect or even good, but if they all have a different feel from my main art style, I'm counting that as a win.

3. Colorful Cast of Characters

This is going to be a two-part challenge. The first part will focus on character design, where I have to make 6 different characters with a mostly mono color palette. That means everything from their hair to their clothes to their accessories has to be one color. The only exceptions to this rule are tones(black, grey, and white) and the skin, that can be natural if I want. For example, if I make a green character, they can have black shoes and a white shirt with brown skin, but everything else has to be a shade of green.

For the second part, I'm going to try to put all of these characters in the same world. It's more of a writing challenge than an art challenge so I won't go into detail here, but it'll be a fun creative exercise.

4. Learn How to Make Comics

I've made references to this here and there, but I want to make a webcomic. One that has a plot and story with my oc's. Unfortunately, I have no experience with making comics at all, and am not confident enough to jump into that dream comic with no experience. So in order to build that confidence, I'm going to practice paneling, perspective, and the other things that go into making comics. It'll start with fanart(because I don't have the balls to post unfunny stuff with my oc's), but I'll work my way up to oc content eventually. I haven't really shown off their character yet, to you guys they're just random character designs. I want other people to like them as much as I do, but that won't happen until I show off their personalities.

5. Post Ugly Art

"Kiwi what are you saying do you want your art to get worse-"

No! Of course I don't! What I mean by this is that I want to let go of the idea that all of the art I post here needs to be clean and finished. No artist is infallible, it should be okay to post a few rough sketches or uncolored line art, especially in Krita where it's a pain in the ass to color anything! I'm willing to bet that people wouldn't mind looser art now and then if it meant I posted more, that was definitely something I struggled with last year. So this one is less of a goal and more of a reminder.

As of January 1, 2025, I will no longer be posting discussion posts here. It feels a little weird making non-art posts on a supposed art blog, so this is the last post of that kind you'll see on this blog. I've made a 2nd blog for those general posts, so that this blog can be entirely focused on art.

2024 Art Summary

the end of this year caught up to me quick. it was a weird one, in both pleasant and unpleasant ways, but i feel like it's wrapped up to be an okay year

2024 celebrates the 10th anniversary of me doing these art summaries. looking back at them, it's interesting to see just how much has changed: the art i chose to present, how much i was able to present, the quality of the art i presented, how my style and skills have changed over time, and also... seeing how i've acted over time and changed as a person

i'm really glad that i started doing this in 2015, initially because i was beginning to feel really proud of the work i was doing and the growth i was having. the last few years haven't felt like that as much, feeling like many months were filled with scraps at the bottom of the barrel. but there were still moments to be proud of, and i think it goes to show that, no matter what happens in my life, my art will always persist. i may have some dry months because too much is happening to finish anything, but that's just life! it's nothing to be ashamed of

all that being said, i did surprisingly well this year, through all its ups and downs. without any further ado, here's what i've got to share for this year. if you'd like to see my previous summaries over the past decade, just check my #art summary tag. thanks for tagging along

starting off this year with some sketches! most of the stuff from january was either Still In The Works or weren't related to illustration. we'll be seeing a lot of that this year, since i poured some of my time into other forms of media creation as well

this is basically part 2 of the tailend of last year, continuing to get comfortable with my Genshin OC Jack, and brainstorming some more about vtuber stuff. in the interim, i worked really hard on another sequel piece which i completed much later (most of it was done in this month), and i discovered a new way to make music!

following the death of flash player, i couldn't use Musicshake anymore, a browser program i used to piece instrument samples and chord progressions together to make some really cool compositions. but then, one of my favorite music youtubers shouted out a different browser-based program called Splice, which does a similar thing except all of the samples are credited! all of the samples in the site's database are available to be used however you want, so it was a really fun new way to make some music for fun! i made 4 tracks this month, only half of which i really like. i might share them publicly at some point - i've so far only shared them on discord with a few close friends

february was a surprisingly busy month for my art, considering how stressed i remember being in gearing up for the coming month (for reasons i'll elaborate on later). did some more stuff with Jack, and in similar Genshin news, i... got really into CynoxTighnari for some reason. i always liked them, but never had the idea or drive to do anything with them myself... until february began. literally, like the 1st hit me like a truck idk. i primarily wrote my 18+ fanfic of them, which was supposed to be a simple one-shot that spiraled into a more intense character exploration. and then i drew a little bit for it. the one time i draw genshin fanart and it's for that jlhnjklkn

also included here is me drawing one of my friend's favorite OCs Oriole, since they were on a kick with him for a while. i decided to join in on the fun, since i helped design him in the first place, and drew his most recent design. i don't normally draw men so. Broad. so it was fun

also also Shelby/Cake got me into project sekai and i immediately latched onto all of the boys because I Am Predictable and Gay

mkay so this month was rather slim, because i was occupied by much more important things for pretty much the entirety of the month i went cross-country from New Mexico to Alabama to pick up Shelby and many of her belongings since she was gonna be moving in with me. our partner Stacey came to help as well, riding in Shelby's car with more of her stuff. as we were heading on our way out, Shelby's car crashed just before we went on the interstate. thankfully, neither she nor Stacey were hurt much beyond some soreness and a couple scrapes, and most of the items inside were intact, but her car was totaled. they crammed themselves into my car and we hunkered down in a hotel for a couple days, before getting a rental car for them to drive back in. we basically had to call it quits until Shelby got a new car. i was forced to take Stacey back home with me, since she had her flight back home in ABQ, and leave Shelby until later.

so uh. yeah. in the meantime, we talked a bit about our collective original story Cosmic Legacy and i doodled our guys a little. and once i had to get back to work, i did a few TOME sketches, and i gotta say that i like how they came out a lot

april wasn't much better, honestly, since that was when Stacey was leaving, and i was incredibly stressed about multiple life things at that point. one of the last things we did was draw together, and i used her markers to make a silly miku graphic, trying to be in a similar vein to her graffiti work on @wolf-of-clubs

after Stacey left, i spent a large chunk of my time escaping reality by playing a really interesting game called Chants of Sennaar. it's a puzzle game revolving primarily around translating multiple fictional languages, and it was a good thing to keep my brain from shutting down. i doodled myself as the faceless main character, to find some fun in my time there

a more interesting and lighthearted art thing i started this month was coloring in this "Manga Furries Coloring" book i got at the bookstore! normally those kinds of books are silly and kinda cheap - and it is - but this one had some really charming designs in it that i thought would be fun to do every so often. and i decided to exclusively use markers to color in it, something i'd never really used before! it took the first couple drawings to figure out the technique, but soon enough i was having a good time and doing really well with it, and even to this day i still crack it open if i'm feeling bored but artsy. it's nice and relaxing to do while listening to something in the background

also, this month i felt like making some nightcore remixes, and i got a request to nightcore a cover of a song, neither of which i knew beforehand, but i keep going back to listen to the result - it was really fun to make!

i was actually kind of surprised i had nothing to show but this lol

Shelby actually moved in with me at the beginning of May! woohoo! i think i ended up just spending a lot of my time getting used to having her around and helping her get settled, while she also helped me get out and explore the area more than i ever had lol

this piece here is actually a result of her: we started watching Case Study of Vanitas together (i still need to get to S2), and there was a particular scene that gave Major Vibes similar to a character of ours, that being the one here named Mercutio, who i've shown in summaries before but haven't properly done on tungle cuz... we like to keep Cosmic Legacy stuff hush-hush for some reason bjklkhl but yeah, i love how this turned out! it was fun to do a full cinematic-looking piece after the digital drought the last couple months

another relatively chill month, mostly trying to get back into the swing of things, and catch up on some projects, the first of which involves the many identical pictures of Kaeya Genshin Impact here. i'd been meaning to do a video essay on the state of the Genshin Webtoon manga pretty much since 2021, and i have made incremental progress up until this year where i finally read all of the manga and made substantial notes on it. one of my talking points will be on the art and specifically the coloring of the comic, so i made some mock-ups of other potential coloring choices for it

the second project is related indirectly to the other image; ever since Shelby got me into project sekai back in february, we had been working on a collection of translations of songs from the game to cover together! now that we were in the same place, we had a better way to give feedback, so we worked a lot on that! i specifically wanted to draw one of the characters, Rui, because i love him so very much in every way. he's an incredibly charming and relatable character and he's a whole lot of fun, so i tried to do his likeness justice

ARTFIGHT TIMEEEEEEEEE YEAH BABEY

i had. a lot of fun doing artfight this year. with some caveats i got more polished art done this year than the previous two years i'd participated, and... that was really only due to the fact i was injured pretty badly i ended up going to the hospital after two months of wavering back and leg pain that got so bad to the point i couldn't sleep more than a couple hours a night for a solid week and i could barely deal with work for more than an hour or two. turned out, i had a herniated disc, and that compression was what was causing me such disgusting pain. i spent some time away from work while i figured out what to do with the doctors, and in that time i did most of my artfight work. if i didn't have artfight to keep me company, idk what i would've done during that time

as to not interject with it more in the next few months, i'm pretty much fine now! after lots of medication and some physical therapy with a group of wonderful people, i'm all but back to normal, save for some tight muscles in the area that still needs some relaxing

another thing i spent some of my off-time on was the beginning of something great: the Boyfriends Webtoon comic dubs! Shelby and I went to the bookstore one day on a whim, just at the tailend of Pride Month, and they had two volumes of the comic in their pride section. i'd heard of the comic before and seen bits n pieces of it, so i thought i'd give it a go and bought them

it was on that day that my life changed forever.

i was immediately so enamoured with everything about it, and that's what made me start dubbing the comic only like a week after getting into it, even making my first couple back to back because i was just so excited! that was another thing that really kept me going this month

not much got done this month, i kept working on Boyfriends comic dubs and had to do a little bit of my own art for it for the sake of a better narrative flow, and it was really fun and interesting to try and emulate the style!

i got really hooked all of a sudden on this song called BUTCHER VANITY, and i liked it so much i wanted to draw my sona in the outfit of the character in the video bc it was a nice look and very cool vibes

and a lil doodle for my partner. cuz it was our 3rd anniversary :3

it was during this month that i had been contemplating Quitting My Job, because despite all my negotiations for making recovery from my injury easier like sitting in a chair or not lifting heavy objects, i was still forced into doing things that aggravated my injury so i could not recover from it. most of my time was spent being exhausted from that plus physical therapy twice a week, except for one day near the end where i doodled all of these funny little pokies i left as gracefully as i could, right before the last couple days of september, because despite it all i did like my job and the people there, and i didn't want to sour relations if they'd be called up as a reference in the future

anyway, the lil me in the corner is a cameo i made in Shelby's High Guardian Spice video bc she wanted my opinion as a Transgender(tm) about the trans rep in that show, and also from the perspective of someone who knew nothing about it it was good :3

it's time once again to try an october drawing challenge and Not Complete It wahey

i wanted to do cringetober last year too, but considering the fact i had Just moved in to my new place less than a week prior, i decided against it. but this year, i didn't have a job anymore so i had all the time in the world to work on art stuff! they said, naively in all honesty, even though i gave myself a headstart, i got hella burned out Fast on this. i think i just was being too ambitious, not to mention there were some prompts i didn't really know what to do with, so it ended up falling apart after like a week. but what i did manage to do was really fun! i'm particularly proud of the "dead meme" prompt submission i did where i remade Powerthirst with a modern meme sensibility, and you will watch it please i spent like two or three days straight on it

also the other characters here i teased initially in this post from july, aka second pride aka yaoi month i was very influenced by both Boyfriends and the other series i got into at the bookstore called Sasaki and Miyano, and my brain was craving more, so i went and made my own these two are the main, and really only, characters of my new original story Life Changed Suddenly: Lowell and Rowan, respectively. nearly every night for like two months straight, i would write snippets of character interaction and ideas and concepts about them, and now i'm seriously thinking about potentially publishing it as a light novel in the future. it's a story that's incredibly personal, drawing heavily from my experiences and making something that speaks to a very different experience than most people would be used to seeing, and i think that would be really valuable

but most importantly, i just wanted my own gay boys to project my feelings on, and make one of them my own personal gag manga character

oh hey look who it is, everybody, it's Siffrin In Stars and Time

soooooo Shelby, Stacey and I played through this game for the first time back innnnn September, i think? we livestreamed it every weekend for a while, and it quickly became our collective brainworm from then on, especially once we finished the game i fell Hard, and ended up drawing all of the guys and started writing fic again for it, but here i have simply given my variety of siffrins so far. because they're perfect. i love him

also. more boyfriends dubs happened. these were fun

HEY, REMEMBER THAT THING I SAID I WAS WORKING ON FOR THE MOST PART OF JANUARY? YOU'LL NEVER BELIEVE that's right, i DID do a second color wheel, and i DID finish it only a few days before the end of the year after not touching it since the end of january because that is Normal and Fine i am genuinely very proud of the work i did... back in january bhkjbj the only characters i hadn't done yet were the purple and pink ones, and i'll be real i coulda done better on them both but y'know what they're still really damn good and i Should be proud of em

separately, i also stopped procrastinating something i had planned since like october - a lil gift art of Fafnir Volos, a vtuber who does cool video essay stuff, who'd paid us an impromptu visit when we were streaming In Stars and Time, and then we connected and became buds! well, he and Shelby became buds, mostly, but i joined in and we vibed hard, it was nice i thought his avatar was already super cool, so i drew him! he's a cool guy, go check him out :3

aaaand that is a wrap on 2024! wild to say that again, looking back on the past 10 years of these summaries was really crazy, just to see how my life had changed as well as my art. i thought i would have had more time to draw after college, but honestly my college years were some of my most active, and ever since 2020 it's been on the decline... but i don't think that's entirely true a lot of those old summaries? that was all i had for that month. or it was just a piece of a group of related things i did, but it was still those one or two things and that was It. i still have to do that, sometimes, but in the last few years, more often than not, i have to pick and choose what i present for these. the main difference, i can observe, is that i have done a lot more sketches and doodles rather than polished digital or traditional pieces. maybe it's because i have less time to dedicate to them, or it's because i find sketching traditionally to be a lot easier to get out than doing it digitally. either way, the numbers really shouldn't matter. like i said at the top, no matter what life throws at me, my art will still persist. and i hope to continue my work far into the future. i'll keep making these summaries, and keep surprising myself with how much i was actually able to accomplish throughout the year

About Commissions

INFO & TERMS of SERVICE

🐸 How do we proceed ?

1. Send me a DM about your idea. (Perhaps, at some point I’ll build a form to make it easy and clear, we’ll see). 

You can mention references if you want - It can be for an OC and you have pictures of their design, or there’s a style or posing that inspired you, either in my work or in a Renaissance painting or a movie or idk. If there’s a specific format you’d prefer you can also specify. :)

2. If I take the commission, I may ask for details. Depending on complexity I can send you a rough sketch to approve the intention.

It may happen that I can’t accept a commission. Whatever the reason, don’t feel offended it’s all ok ! You can probably find another artist that will be inspired by your concept :) I’m not here to judge your ideas, we’ll all benefit interacting with content that we feel comfortable around.

3. Payment is sent by Paypal. The pricing is determined according to elements (sketch, color, amount of characters, background, etc), although it can increase depending on the complexity. 

Payment in EUR is preferable for me. If needed, USD is also ok 👍 (I will convert currency to price fairly)

4. Now I get to do the commission ! It may take time considering I’m mostly drawing on my free time ; sometimes for health reasons I can’t draw as much, and other times I can achieve a lot. Thank you for your trust and patience ! 🙏☺️

Commissions are for personal use. (If you’re unsure you can ask. :) 

Commissioners may not claim the artwork as their own.

If I am unable to complete the work, I’ll refund payment.

Commissioners may not ask for a refund once the commission is complete.

I will take only a couple commissions at a time.

I may use the commission as example in this kind of post. However if you’d like to keep it private, you can mention it in your request.

PRICING

Just a note about the meaning of pricing (bc it can be confusing !)

in France, as of January 1st 2023, gross minimum wage is €11,27/h. Besides, it took me all my life of drawing almost everyday and 4 years of art studies to get where I am now in my artistic progression and knowledge. I have also spent quite a bit for my equipment. So Ideally I’d manage to charge at least minimum wage for the time spent commissioning.

As for more details about the complex elements : if your idea includes a challenging bit (architecture, weapon, vehicules, …) I can try to do it but yeah.. might not be my most trained area.

My artsyle is usually sketchy, so make sure you’re ok with what I do. Sometimes I experiment and try to get creative, if you see something you like in my artworks, you can ask to have a similar render. I want you to be happy with the result ! 🌻

i appreciate the artist and the talent but the fact that y/n is literally drawn as a white female kinda defeats the purpose of her being y/n for a lot of us poc and she should just be seen as an oc atp. it’s just not fair at all, and i can already see certain people are going to have a problem about me saying this and dismissing it as “just a drawing” but it’s really tiring for poc readers and not very inclusive at all. and for the whole “go draw your own” statement that is often made when pocs express this feeling of exclusiveness is also very offensive considering the fact that your labeling a single oc as y/n that only caters to one specific demographic when in reality your receiving support from others as well. and this is an ongoing problem within the fanfic community which results in pocs writing and creating solely for each other because we clearly can’t find this representation anywhere else despite us being mass enjoyers of works like these as well. we are tired.

I understand your concern and I hear you. As a Hispanic myself, I have noticed this issue in the fan fic community as well. “Blue eyes,” “blonde hair,” “fair skin,” things like that. I would never exclude POC from my work which is why I have never specially elaborated on what Y/N looks like. I don’t even have a specific vision of her because she changes very drastically as I write.

I do my very best to refrain from things such as “blushing”, “cheeks draw warm, colored salmon,” and find different words like “feel your face grow hot at his words” so it can be more inclusive for all my readers. As my book has grown, I have done research on how to write particular expressions and things so I can grow as a writer and be more educated. This is my first time doing anything like this and I am learning how I go.

The artist who made the okay bambi fanart created a self-insert of herself as Y/N, and she is not white; she is of Hispanic descent. It was not commissioned by me nor was it described to her how Y/N looks, so, to give her a face for the scene she based it on what she personally sees when she reads, which is herself.

I’m promoting it because it’s very beautiful art done by someone who went out of their way to create it for the OB community. I have received fanart of OB Jean in the past that I had promoted, but this was the first fanart of a Y/N that I had received, and just like the other art of Jean, I wanted this to be promoted as well.

The artist is doing these completely free on her own time and has actually recently been working on making more POC fanart of Okay, Bambi. Before this anon was sent, she came to me directly and told me that there was more diverse fanart coming because she wanted to be sure everyone felt included, and I thought that was an amazing idea.

The fanart that was done is not an official Y/N. It is just how Y/N is seen in this specific reader's eyes. If I were ever to receive more fan art, I would be thrilled to use it just as much, but none of those would be deemed as an official Y/N, either.

I have had other readers come to me privately saying they are making fan art for my book, too, which I would promote just as much for any race. Also, of course, okay, bambi is promoted to be Fem! Reader x Jean, but if I had fan art done of Y/N with a different gender identity, I would promote that as well.

I want everyone to see Y/N however they personally envision her.
