grand occult baking championship || episode 1.7
Just a little interlude before judgment!
In case you haven't seen it, I've been posting little interviews with the cast. Please feel free to send me questions, anonymously or not! I'll put them up in batches between posts.
first // prev // next
Most characters have canon origin stories! It's just Elle, L, Brandy, and Morgyn who don't. Caleb isn't wrong about how long it would take to get through it all, but I can make some space at the bottom of the post :)
canon
Most of this comes from dialogue from Werewolves, which I put up here.
Celene & Lou: attacked by Greg while on a date after Lou provoked him - she took the cure, he thought he could ride it out.
Lily: fled into the tunnels when Vlad tried to turn her, where she was bitten by a rabid werewolf. Spent years wandering around feral before Kristopher found her.
Caleb: turned by Miss Hell in a bar bathroom with the door on backwards. It's unclear whether he asked to turn or not, but I'd say most likely not.
Jacob: got lost in the woods as a small child after being traumatically separated from his family. He was hunted by a werewolf and a vampire, and then rescued by Kristopher.
Wolfgang: visited Moonwood Mill to escape the rat race in San Myshuno, decided he liked the werewolf lifestyle, and asked Kristopher to turn him.
Inna: turned by Caleb in the official trailer. Based on promotional material and the paintings from vampires, she seems to have been a thrall for centuries before that, possibly as early as the 1600s.
Darrel: born a spellcaster. Because he has the strong bloodline trait, he must be at minimum a 3rd generation caster.
Emilia: recently ascended according to her household description, presumably by Morgyn, since they're the only sage she knows by default and they're both friends with Grace and Tomax.
deadcanon
Elle: born a vampire during the first half of the Century Conflict. Her parents were former spellcasters who were turned during Operation Eternal Flame.
Brandy: attacked and almost killed by a member of her girlfriend Samantha's coven of origin. Samantha turned her to save her life.
L: an orphaned street urchin. Was accidentally transported to the Magic Realm after pickpocketing a spellcaster and taking his Glimmerstone. She met Keisha and immediately started badgering her for power and secrets.
Morgyn: a teen runaway. They found instructions to get into the Magic Realm in a library book, thought the whole thing sounded extremely rad, made their way to Glimmerbrook, and immediately started badgering Tess for power and secrets.
I wanted a Century Conflict veteran, which is why I made Elle so old. Brandy possibly has a mundane brother, so I didn't want her to have been born vampire. I love foundlings in stories (yes, I'm a big Mandalorian fan, fuck off) so yeah Morgyn and L are foundlings.

And while Saiwa and Jeb were not woohooing in their quarters, Jack and Vlad didn't woohoo either - they had other worries. Something was heading directly towards them! Vlad: "What is this 'thing'? A space junk yard? Why is it so fast!?" Jack: "Or it's a giant garbage ball from launched via mob-obtained rocket into space in 2052, in an attempt to alleviate a crippling rubbish problem?" (That was an episode of Futurama ^^')
It was Vlad and Jack's first shift together at the bridge and they'd been so excited to command a space ship - and now this. Starfleet protocol hadn't prepared them for this either... Since the communiction system and many other crucial systems and devices of the ship had been destroyed by a raging cat alien, they don't have many options.
Jack: "Whatever it is - it's on collision course! It will hit us! Are our Photon Torpedoes operational?" Vlad: "This is a science ship, I'm not sure if we even have any torpedoes - or other weapons..." Jack: "What now?" Everything about space had been more exciting in the Star Wars movies...
Vlad and Jack were just trying to alter their route in the autopilot, when that 'thing' raised a panel which said: "RUBYN SENT ME"
Jack: "Omg! Rubyn sent someone to help us!" Vlad: "Let's call the others and open the dock!"
They gathered in the cargo bay and greeted their savior. Dayn: "Hi, I'm Dayn. Rubyn is so worried! She thought you'd starve. But I see you have livestock on board." Saiwa: "What? No! They're our friends. We don't eat them. They'd rather eat us ^^'"
After they introduced themselves, the curious cat creature also came over to see what all the commotion was about. Dayn: "Omg Lenny! You're here! Albaleyh and the kids are missing you!" (So that's the pet that went missing! And his name is Lenny.)
Dayn: "But why did you run away? The kids are so sad they lost their father and then you ran off without a word!" Lenny: "Mau mau-mrauf. Mreouuwl!" Dayn: "Oh! I see. Since it was kind of your fault B.D got arrested while he searched for your friend, you felt guilty and you wanted to participate in rescuing him? And you ran away without a word because Albaleyh would have stopped you?" Lenny: "Mref!"
Saiwa: "You can understand him?" Dayn: "You don't?" Saiwa: "Eh... no?" Dayn picked Lenny up. Dayn: "You could have messaged us after the ship started." Lenny meowled again. Dayn: "Oh, you couldn't because you'd been so afraid of these Boys? I see." Saiwa: "We'd been afraid of him too ^^'"
Saiwa: "But why does Lenny feel guilty?" Dayn: "I thought Albaleyh told you what happened? Lenny's friend, the vaccum bot, vanished in the transporter beam and on their search for him, B.D got arrested because he stole that shuttle and a TIE fighter from the first order..." (The whole story starts -> here) Saiwa: "A vacuum bot? B.D got arrested while they searched for a vaccum bot for a cat creature?" Dayn: "No. They were searching for a good friend of a very precious crew member. Right, Lenny?" Lenny: "Mreaouw!" Saiwa sighed.
to be continued...
TMI: Dayn and Lenny are so happy to meet again. They go a long way back. Seven years! Lenny had been a stowaway on Dayn and Cecilia's ship ^^'
'She don't wanna say Where she's gone away But she's on replay In my, in my brain I'll do what it takes Any time or place We can turn a break up into an outbreak'

Cursed necklace DPxDC AU
Vlad is a 24yr-old student who dies in college...in the early 1900s. Since then, he has haunted the University of Wisconsin by virtue of his his old necklace.
He likes the school- and the students like him! Since photography became accessible, students, teachers, staff, and visitors alike have been trying to get photos with him, students bribe him to help with homework (after all, he's been auditing classes for a century), mainly with cheep beer, fried cheese-related foods, and (since some kid introduced him to the Green Bay Packers), Packers memorabilia.
The students leave the game on for him, and the brave ones turn the lights off and leave a spot open for him in the hopes of seeing the Wisconsin University ghost up close and personal. (If they combine this with cheese sticks and beer, it's a near guarantee).
In general, he's a beloved figure. But then the Fentons start college there. At first, it's cool! These humans have made machines to let them listen to him (with some translation errors), they're building a portal to the GZ, which means he can have other ghosts to talk to, again, and they're fun!
Oh. Wait. They're being kicked out because they tried something unethical. Oh well! Somebody just turned on a Packers game, and he can smell the cheesesticks already.
Little does he know, the Fentons have created their prototype thermos. Until his necklace (and due to the lack of ambient ectoplasm), essentially his core is in there.
For 15. Long. Years.
Danny- not as Phantom, just Danny- finds the box and, with the curiosity of a 9-year-old opens the box. Soon, he's contaminated, despite his new buddy trying to keep him safe. And dies. Yep 9 year old Phantom.
BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE! See Damian was a TWIN! Bruce is, when he tracks down said twin, Very Displeased by the lack of safety measures, and takes his other biological son (and his son's sister who is only 12 rn) home with him.
Bruce does NOT know about his hitchhiker; a centuries-old vampire ghost. He also doesn't know Danny's dead. More under the cut!
Clark gets mind controlled and tries to start a fight. Tries being the operative word here, because his 9-year-old is fighting a grown Kryptonian. And winning.
Plasmius steals cheese a lot, turns TVs to Packers games, and is generally a nuisance. Constantine is called.
Constantine has a new best friend because holy shit, a real ghost who's willing to talk to him! He can get so much info!
Bruce: Can you get him out of my house? Plasmius: Where Danny goes, I go.
Danny: Hey, can I have this? *eats a blob ghost in front of everyone*. *shares half with Plasmius*
Constantine is both horrified and curious. Clark gets punted across state lines by a vampire ghost who was Not Happy his kiddo got in a fight. Jason gets therapy a la a 12-year-old girl, a 9-year-old half-dead kid, and a centuries-old ghost.
There's enough ambient ectoplasm to thrive on, so Plasmius can roam and Danny can start learning powers. Vlad starts teaching Jason on the sly too.
Danny starts talking to bats, cats, rats, and a snake Damian rescued. Damian takes him to break into zoos to see what else he can talk to. Bruce is tired.
Plasmius uses his doubles for housework purposes in exchange for cheese from Alfred. Alfred abuses this shamelessly to drag Bruce up from the cave and make him eat.
Jasmine is Aggressively Normal. To the point where they're considering therapy, but then she gets kidnapped, talks to Harley, and embraces her alter identity as The Mindflayer.
Ok fine, she admits that is a little villainous. Maybe she can be Wraith or something? "Look, it seems you guys are being a little too upset about-", " Jazmine, you turned the Joker into a vegetable." Jason: YEAH she did! C'mon, we're going to have some fun, kids!
Just- Bruce thought he was getting two kids from an abusive household. He did NOT sign up for 2 half-dead OP kids, a cheese and football-obsessed vampire ghost, and a...NO, Danny, you CANNOT keep the giant green hellhound. Damien, stop encouraging him!

Oooh, good point! I think I’d prefer to go for a mix of two and three. An experienced Danny who’s super sick of the hero life, but he’s still pretty experience and maybe even harbors resent for the league since they never helped him out. I kinda have a thing for stories about Danny having issues with the league, lol. What do you think?
This is in continuation to this post.
From what I've seen you're not alone with that preference/niche! lol I've even read some Miraculous Ladybug x DC crossover with a similar concept, back when I used to read fics for MLB (it's been a while since I last read fanfic for MLB though). I know I did play around with the concept for down the rabbit hole (goes the throne). However, something that's very tricky to balance is making sure Danny doesn't come off as... self-centered, I guess the right word would be?
Because yes, it's understandable that Danny would be upset that no one tried to help him if they did reach out. At the same time, you have to consider the possibility of censorship thanks to the GIW (which is a popular headcanon) or that Vlad used Desiree to make a wish that would shield the town for his machinations and schemes (which is another headcanon I've seen used before). Danny can be upset at first but if he finds out that their attempts for contact literally could not connect, then it would be unreasonable for Danny to keep harboring that resentment when they're here now because they found out. That implies that had they known back then they would have tried something too, but they are not meant to be omniscient, no matter how hard Bruce might try to be.
Plus... the JL already have a lot of responsibilities. Most if not all these heroes have a base of operations- an entire city to take care of. And yes, so does Danny, but they can't just drop everything and come to his rescue, especially if the problem is much more extensive than just closing the portal. (Which Danny could technically do at any given time, but chooses not to.) But let's not talk about that. And there's also all the off-world missions they're in charge of or participate in. And many heroes have their day jobs and civilian lives to maintain, and plenty of these heroes have kids! Things are complicated!
But complex situations make things all the more interesting, do they not? ;3
Let's play around with that, shall we?
---
"Are you really a ghost?" Bart asks Phantom in curiosity. Is it just 'Phantom' or is it 'The Phantom' because the latter sounds much more mysterious, but is that trade-marked by-
"You think too fast," Phantom grumbles under his breath as he zips around a burning piece of rubble. He hardly bats an eye at it, just watches it fly past and then freezes it, effectively putting out the flames. The rubble slides innocently across the blacktop, falling alongside all the other pieces he's already frozen over.
Phantom's hardly even trying. It's so not crash.
"You're not like any ghost I've ever seen before," Secret agrees with a small frown. She doesn't distrust Phantom necessarily, but her own curiosity is hard to fight down.
Phantom's lips twist with amusement. "I could say the same to you actually." The group collectively watch as Phantom's legs twist and disappear into a wispy tail, the ghost curling it around as if to hug himself.
"What kind of Casper..." Kon overhears Tim mutter to himself. It's a good thing he doesn't have a piece of paper, else he'd be taking rapid fire notes. A computer would've done in a jiffy, of course, but it's not like they had access to one of those in a blown out city street like this.
"I've never heard about you before," Cassie comments with pinched brows. She doesn't look happy about it.
And for what it's worth, Phantom doesn't either.
"You wouldn't," Phantom drawls. There's no mirth in his voice. He turns back to the villain of the day, hands sparking as he zaps the machine so thoroughly that sparks fly and the metal audibly creaks.
Kon shivers at the display. He's not afraid, not really, but he's still uneasy... He knows that Captain Marvel is one of those heroes on par with Superman, and right now, watching Phantom wield his lightning, Kon's starting to see why.
The group shuffle around uncomfortably as Phantom sucks up the villain into a soup thermos? Now that's not something you see every day.
"What's that do?" Tim, ever perceptive, prods Phantom for answers.
"It contains ghosts, spectral entities, the works," Phantom replies curtly, capping the thermos with practiced ease. Ease that spoke of experience. "You kids alright?"
"Dude, you're barely four years older than some of us," Anita deadpans with an unimpressed look. "You don't get to call us 'kids'."
Phantom lifts his shoulders in a shrug. "Sorry, y'all are still babies to me." He points at Kon. "You've gotta be, what, not even six months old?"
Kon prickles at the remark. "That's none of your business." He knows he's not that old chronologically, but that doesn't make him an infant. He'd appreciate some respect about it.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you," Danny replies and it sounds sincere? But most of them don't take too kindly to him anyways. He just gives bad vibes is all. "Where are your mentors? I feel like there should be at least one of them around to supervise."
"We can take care of ourselves," Tim insists, crossing his arms over his chest. Uh oh, he's hurt Timmy's feelings. That's never a good sign.
"You're kids, you shouldn't have to," Phantom sneers slightly, snidely more like.
"Like you did?" Secret asks tentatively. Phantom's hair visibly floats up, picked up by an inexplicable wind. His eyes glow a shade brighter. It's eerie. It's uncomfortable.
Phantom's face might be impassive, but he still remains an open book.
"Yeah, something like that," Phantom murmurs, his tone unreadable. "I hope you can take care of yourselves. One day you might be the only ones that do."
With that ominous warning, Phantom disappears. Here one minute, gone the next. Like a true ghost.
"I vote we call him 'Casper the Unfriendly Ghost'," Bart announces out of the blue. "Raise your hand if you agree?"
At once, every single member raises their hand.
"Motion passed."

Gilbert vs. Fenrir vs. Kicho
»» Gilbert vs Vlad here
After seeing how Gilbert, Fenrir and Kicho were all put on the same Ikemen All-stars team this year, I'm just imagining Gil and Fenrir getting into a shoot-out and my god it's epic.
Like just the mental image of Gil twirling his cane to deflect bullets lmfaoooo
Fen's out here dodging Gil's bullets like sonic the hedgehog, jumping and rolling off floors, columns, walls, the frickn ceiling😭
At one point they end up with each other's guns, which is my excuse to see Gil double-wielding
Then Kicho shows up and we're not sure whose side he's on even though we're also sure that he's 10000% Team Kicho. The confusion comes from him stepping in to seemingly save Fenrir by firing a bullet that misses Gilbert by a half of a half of a half of a half of a centimeter. Fenrir, whose sitting point-blank to the gun pointed at him, takes the opportunity to roll off the side of the raised platform they're on and kick Gilbert's gun out of his hand in the process.
The gun lands in Kicho's possession. He looks at it with a completely bored expression. Then he smiles ever so faintly and aims Gilbert's gun at Fenrir's head.
Fenrir is still recovering from being kicked in the guts by Gilbert's Kick of Death. When Kicho points the gun at him, Fenrir sighs and mutters "Give me break, man."
Gilbert laughs and sits down on the edge of the platform and begins massaging salve against his throat where Kicho's bullet grazed him. He gazes down at Kicho. "I'd admire your gall for going after my prey. If it wasn't completely theatrical and contrived. Hehe, well... that has its entertainment too, I suppose."
Kicho pulls the trigger and Fenrir falls back dead. Except Fenrir isn't dead. It would turn out that Kicho and Fen had worked out a deal beforehand for Kicho to pretend to kill Fen so that Fen could use the opportunity to sneak off and enter Gilbert's castle to rescue Alice and Mai. While Kicho distracts Gilbert with Epic Gun Fight Part 2.
Epic Gun Fight Part 2 sees Gilbert dodging extensively and freakishly for the first half since Kicho is operating both Gilbert's gun and his own. Gilbert's gun only has about 2 bullets left, but that's still 2 extra bullets. It's only when Gilbert ambushes Kicho in the shadow of an archway, using his cane to make Kicho drop the gun, that he's able to get the gun back.
Or so he thinks, because Kicho power-kicks it mid-fall into an open grate, and in the same motion pivots so that the tip of his gun is flush against Gilbert's forehead.
Gilbert smiles, as radiant as a summer day. "This has been fun, but I'm sure your friend's found what he's looking for by now." Proving that, of course, he knew what Kicho and Fenrir were up to.
Kicho lowers the gun. "You know that's not why I'm here." He takes something out of his pocket and holds it out for Gilbert.
Gilbert stares at it, his expression blank and lightless. "I see. Get close enough to kill me, then spare me, then exploit that mercy for a favor." He looks back at Kicho and smiles. "Just like I would have done."
Meanwhile inside the castle Fenrir bursts into the dining room... and discovers Emma, Mai and Alice having a tea party and discussing which of their men would win in a gun-fight.
"And that's how Kicho gets a free favor from Gilbert," Mai says as if commenting on the weather. "It's so cheesy and cliche, and hardly how I would go about it, but I love how he analyzes his opponents and uses their own game against them."
Emma giggles. "Well now I want to know how you'd go about it."
Alice puts her teacup down. "Careful, Emma. That almost sounds like you're challenging Mai to a gunfight."
Mai smirks. "I'd be disappointed if she wasn't."
Fenrir stares at the trio. "Wait, so you weren't in any danger?"
--- Mai vs Emma vs Alice Epic Gunfight Part 3 I guess XD Also omg I somehow didn't mention Roderich once in this hahaha. He was sleeping, and Gilbert didn't have the heart to wake him

Just some thoughts.
The Justice League believe that 'evil' Phantom had killed Danny Fenton, Vlad's beloved godson, and replaced him as an evil plot against Vlad the hero. Batman especially is furious with Phantom and feeling unforgiving because he thinks Phantom murdered a civilian child, a member of Vlad's family by choice, and puppeted his body to pretend to be the Fentons' son, toying with the family just to torment Vlad. The tragedy reminds all the heroes of what would happen if their villains knew their secret identities and went after their families. For Bruce, the boy looked like he could have been one of his own kids. Like Jason had been as a child. At least JLD had been able to spare Vlad the trauma of having to fight Phantom while he was wearing his godson's corpse.
The GIW and Fenton parents confirmed to the JL that Phantom is Amity Park's #1 enemy. They still don't like Plasmius, but they can't do anything against a Justice League member. And Plasmius doesn't really operate inside Amity Park anymore. Vlad's too busy being dragged around to deal with hero missions and saving people on a global or big city scale to pay attention to Amity much. Vlad figures Danny is dealing with Amity like usual.
The Justice League had been vague in telling Vlad what they'd done to his nemesis, not wanting to tear open the man's grief again. They'd just told him he didn't have to worry about Phantom anymore, they'd take care of him. Vlad isn't the best at registering vocal tone (he's always so smarmy but thinks he sounds perfectly sincere and is fooling everyone), so figured they were inducting Danny as a hero and didn't want the rehab villain involved.
Meanwhile, the Fenton parents are grieving and manic about hunting the other evil ghosts. The Justice League had shown up and revealed Danny had been replaced by Phantom and captured the villain. They said Danny had been killed by Phantom and replaced, but they couldn't figure out exactly when their baby had been replaced. The JL said they had to seal away the body with Phantom to be certain of containing him. The Fentons are working on finding a way to separate the ghost from their son's body so they can put their baby to rest. But between that manic project and the grieving, they forgot to tell Vlad. Well, Jack forgot. Maddie doesn't like Vlad and wouldn't have wanted him intruding on their grief to hit on her, so hadn't planned on telling him.
Jazz found out the JL captured Danny when she got back from touring colleges. She's the one that told Sam and Tucker what happened to him, because they hadn't been informed. They had already hacked the GIW, broke into the Fenton lab, hacked Vlad's labs, and checked with the Far Frozen. Then Dani had shown up demanding to know why her dadbrocuz wasn't responding to her texts or calls. She convinced them to get help from Valerie to see if she knew anything. They convinced Val to agree to protect the town when Dani, with Sam and Tucker as occult and tech support, tried to rescue Danny from wherever the Justice League was holding him.
The Justice League is horrified to realize they fucked up so badly on recruitment that they missed an entire un-mentored and unsupported child hero team. And then pushed them into going Rogue to rescue the actual heroic halfa protector spirit/child hero they'd falsely imprisoned and basically kidnapped. And his parents still thought he was dead. And somehow his parents had no idea he was Phantom, because they'd hated Phantom long before they thought he'd replaced their son.
And they'd accidentally managed to rehabilitate the actual 'unforgiveably evil and needs to be sealed away forever' halfa villain? Somehow? By treating him as a valued ally and comrade? By treating him as a good person and being friendly? And... It worked? He hadn't betrayed them or done anything evil, and he even thought he was in villain rehab?
DP x DC Writing Prompt: Justice League's Totally Real Redemption Program
It has been a few months now since Vlad became a member of the Justice League.
...Alright rewind, it started after he instinctively used his powers a bit in human form during one of the Wayne's Galas. It was subtle but Masters moved someone out of the way and they "barely" avoided it (no thanks to a hint of intangibility of course) if only to continue talking business with them or coursem
Of course he should have known being technically a Metahuman in Gotham would get him on the Bat's radar. It was only a matter of time before the big bad bat himself burst into his office.
But... It happened while he was asleep and only left a business card to contact the Justice League??? They apparently wanted to recruit him???
Vlad was unsure but based on them being friendly they seemed to act like they were trying some bizarre rehabilitation program? Like they're trying to make villains into heroes by treating them well having them use their powers or skills for their side? Well based on his data on the Flashes, they seem to treat their Rogues well... Probably his idea.
Weird that they chose him first instead of one of their own rogues, but Vlad went along with it. Writing it off Danny was also being recruited by the Justice League and he suggested using him as a Guinea Pig first? Honestly he wouldn't put it past the boy.
Over time though Vlad began to see the positive effects he was having as the heroes seemed to look happy he was learning good with proud stares. It felt.... Refreshing to use his powers for good, something he remembers his past self had mocked Daniel for when they met.
...Speaking of Phantom, where was he anyway? It's been a while since he pestered Vlad?
------
Batman, on a rare occasion like this, was happy all things considered. Constantine was right about the rumors regarding a Halfa helping people and ghosts alike. A hero in his own right.
He didn't expect to find Vladimir Masters as the one he was looking for, and by chance when he saved someone with a subtle use of powers. At first suspecting Metahuman abilities he was keeping under wraps, but Constantine came by not long after asking about the feeling of the "Infinite Realms" in the area. Once he was told about ghosts, it didn't take long to find a connection back to Vlad.
After some digging they found according to legends he has been seen across history having fought what was believed to have been another like him... The only other Halfa and one appeared evil to the bone.
Batman hadn't pressed Plasmius about his past but he did make a list of the rogues in Amity Park, a town protected by the Halfa.
Including the suspected evil Halfa, he was easy enough to track down as hiding as a ghost hunter's own son and seal away into a little artifact for now. One less threat to deal with...
Even if he recognizes not all ghosts are evil, some do not deserve second chances for their crimes.
------
(Or... Justice League fucks up a teeny bit in research and recruitment, so through misunderstandings they believe Plasmius was the hero and Phantom was the villain based on past stories of their appearances and legends passed through the Ghost Zone to other mythical creatures but the story and detail become warped and faded as centuries past by.)
Meanwhile Vlad thinks this is some weird rehabilitation project and seems to be working for him as he feels good about doing good. Danny in turn may not be stuck in absolute suffering but isn't exactly having a good time due to being mistaken for the bad guy and now currently sealed away.)
#dpxdc#batman#dp x dc#danny phantom#bruce wayne#vlad plasmius#Vlad Masters#The Justice League#The Justice League mixed up the details of the rumors and ancient stories of a heroic Halfa battling his evil nemesis and protecting people#They think Vlad is the hero because he saved someone at a Wayne gala out of self interest#They think Phantom was the evil one having replaced a child in town and posing as the ghost hunters' son#The Justice League trapped Danny in an artifact#Vlad thinks he's in some kind of villain rehabilitation program to learn to use his powers for good#Danny thinks this is ironically the best vacation he's had because he can catch up on sleep#Dani is stressed trying to keep Amity Park under control and search for Danny and pick a fight with the Justice League for kidnapping Danny#the Justice League done fucked up#Justice League recruited the wrong person

Western weakness risks handing an entire generation of Ukrainians to Putin
THE TELEGRAPH
Western weakness risks handing an entire generation of Ukrainians to Putin
The plight of children - kidnapped in their thousands and taken to Russia for re-education - is a scandal far too few are aware of
Lord Ashcroft
15 October 2024 10:28am BST
Russia’s illegal war on Ukraine has been an unrelenting tragedy for its people, but few have suffered more deeply than Ukraine’s children. Over 20,000 have been forcibly deported to Russian-occupied territories, Russia, and Belarus, ripped away from their families and homes. While international law is clear on prohibiting such actions, these children have been placed in Russian foster or adoptive families, some even given Russian citizenship in a disturbing attempt to erase their Ukrainian identities.
The abduction of children is part of a larger, systematic operation overseen by Russian authorities. A report from the Yale School of Public Health has identified at least 43 camps across Russia and occupied territories, where Ukrainian children are held and subjected to so-called “re-education.” Russian officials claim these camps provide “patriotic” education, but their true purpose is far more sinister. Children are being forced to embrace a pro-Russian identity while being stripped of their national and personal heritage. The furthest of these camps is in Magadan, approximately 3,900 miles from Ukraine – a location so remote it is closer to the US than Ukraine’s borders.
The stories emerging from these camps are nothing short of horrific. Children sent to camps under the false pretence of “recreational holidays” have endured psychological manipulation and even physical abuse. In October 2022, children from then occupied Kherson were sent to facilities in Crimea for what was supposed to be a two-week break. Instead, they were subjected to a re-education program where they were told their parents had abandoned them. At camps with names like “Dream” and “Sunny,” children were made to listen to the Russian national anthem on repeat and faced punishment for any signs of dissent.
Take the story of Vladyslav – a 16-year-old boy from Melitopol who was captured while trying to flee the besieged city. For 90 days, he was held in a Russian prison, forced to clean a torture chamber daily, wiping away the blood of others subjected to brutal interrogations. During his captivity, Vlad witnessed unimaginable horrors, including the suicide of a fellow prisoner. The emotional scars from this period will stay with him for life, but he was fortunate to be rescued. Many others are still languishing in these nightmarish conditions.
The international response has been slow but is gaining momentum. In September, at the Fourth Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen in Kyiv, world leaders gathered under the patronage of Ukraine’s First Lady Olena Zelenska to focus on child safety. A joint declaration was signed to unify global efforts in protecting children’s rights during armed conflict. The Summit resolved to initiate coordinated projects aimed at identifying, locating, and returning Ukrainian children who have been abducted. The goal is to unite international resources and expertise to ensure these children are brought back safely, while also providing support for displaced families.
This aligns closely with the UN Future Summit, which addressed the protection of children in conflict zones. In a world where war is tragically still a reality, the UN needs to focus on creating more robust frameworks to protect the most vulnerable: children. If existing mechanisms are insufficient to prevent mass child abductions in Ukraine, what hope do we have of protecting children in future conflicts?
Despite the arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for Vladimir Putin and Maria Lvova-Belova, the head of Russia’s children’s rights commission, the practical enforcement of international law remains elusive. When Russia’s leadership visits countries like Mongolia or South Africa, they are not held accountable for their crimes. The international community must do more than issue warrants – it must apply pressure on Russia to return these abducted children and unequivocally condemn these actions as acts of genocide.
Time is of the essence. If the international community fails to act, we risk losing an entire generation of Ukrainian children to a regime intent on erasing their identity. In the face of these atrocities, Ukraine must prevail – not just for its sovereignty, but for its children. If we stand by and allow these crimes to continue, we abandon the principles of justice and humanity that underpin international law.
Canada has already taken a leadership role, creating an international coalition to return Ukrainian children and planning to host a conference on this issue in late October. Qatar has also stepped in to support initiatives to rescue these children. But much more must be done. The UK needs to apply concerted pressure on Russia, both politically and financially, to secure the return of these children. Every day that passes without action is another day that these children remain in the clutches of their abductors.
We cannot and must not look away. The abduction of Ukrainian children is a crime that demands a unified, forceful response. Our collective humanity is on the line, and we owe it to the next generation to act before it’s too late.

(This got longer than I thought. Tw for medical stuff. No real details but ye👍)
“GREEN”
Dani and Danny stared at the group chat. They had heard Danny’s phone go off earlier while fighting Vlad for the nth time, but neither could slip away to check. The fight didn’t last much longer after that. It was difficult. They both needed stitches, but they handled it. Neither expected to see the code Sam made for “shit hit the fan in the worst ways” to be the message to greet them. They shared a glance at each other, confusion and concern growing ever more present.
“What??” Danny responded. Green meant he or Dani had been caught and strapped down by one of two incompetent threats. Vlad wasn’t on his cloning bullshit. Hell, they were standing in his lab. The newest addition to the room was a patina of dust on everything (omitting scorch marks from the firefight that is).
The phone rang.
-
To say Jazz was in shock would be an understatement. Her brother was nowhere to be found. Instead, her ghost hunter parents had their friend opened up on their lab table, and were covered in two very different colors she’d expect to see on Danny after an especially taxing fight.
“Also, can you get the BOOmerang? …Phantom might know something about healing.” Jazz slow blinked, gun dropping to her side, thumb flipping the safety now on. What?
What?? The group chat. Right, she sent the emergency gtfo-rescue-operation-underway code. And Danny responded. At least he’s ok and the others knew it too if they checked their phones. She couldn’t find the dexterity to type something coherent without taking far too long. She called the group while grabbing a vial of sedative and the vitals monitor for Paul.
-
Sam answered on the first ring. Tucker was heard beside her. Danny joined a moment later, Dani silent beside him.
“Jazz, what happened to ‘use this for an emergency only’? We all thought-” Sam started.
“I know!” Jazz cut in a little louder than she intended. “I thought so too. But we’re not clear yet, Violet.”
Code names. “Hold up, what’s happening? Who’s on your end?”
“Idk how to explain, Alt-”
“Jazzypants? Who..who’s on the phone?” Jack came back over with three books opened to premarked pages. Wether that happened before now or if that’s fresh marker, she didn’t want to know.
“Is that Jack and-?” Danny started. His voice concealed behind the fair amount of static Tucker could never seem to remove from the ghost’s line when he’s irritated.
“Jazz, put that on speaker. It’s easier hands free,” Maddie interjected, the others no doubt hearing. “Come help with prep.” She continued to mutter half words. Jazz conceded and the phone was set down, screen set to lock.
“Say hi to the Fentons, Phantom. You’re on speaker.” The line was dead silent.
“You have.. that’s Phantom’s number?” Maddie turned away from placing a scalpel to stare dumbfounded at her daughter.
Jack coughed in surprise. “He has a phone?”
“And a team,” Danny added, knocking the doctor pair out of their panicked rambles for good. “I’m not exactly telepathic. I have to communicate with them somehow.” Jack jumped a bit at the voice, Maddie at the implication of a team and her daughter being closely involved. It did connect some dots on equipment though. “Hello, Drs. Fenton. What’s happened that I’m being called in to your lab by a teammate?” Ouch, sorry mom and dad.
“Phantom, we need your help,” Jack was struggling to keep a steady face at having to explain the situation verbally. “We’re outside our depth and need medical advice for an emergency surgery.”
The line went silent again. “What?” The static got heavier. “Who do you have?” Ohhh that wasn’t a nice tone. Jazz grew concerned at the possible next reactions from either party. The two Fenton parents clamored to give apologies while trying to explain the injuries, either a mutter or a shout. All three kept at it for about a minute. Odd, they were normally good during crisis. Right, this is the first time it’s a friend of theirs. Double ouch.
“Hey!” Tucker cut across the line again. “Cool it Phantom. Jazz wouldn’t have called if it wasn’t desperate.” No use in bringing Jazz’s alias into this. Sticking to the known side was the best bet.
“Team stay away. Fentons,” the line growled, “I’ll be there shortly. That security system needs to be down.” The screen lit up. Phantom has left the call.
“We’ll stop by base and drop supplies at location C,” Sam was painfully level. “Jazz, you’ll pick them up. I have no doubt that word is being sent to Frostbite.”
“I’ll notify you when we’re there. Keep the portal clear in case Frostbite brings transport.” Violet has left the call.
Silence took over the room, broken only by the slow beeps of Paul’s heart on the monitor. The Fentons got to work again.
-
Maddie needed to focus. This was the main bleed..and it was their fault. Paul had no time to be secured properly before evacuating him. He was dropped. It was her fault that she didn’t protect Jack as she should have. He had gotten hit by an electric net and stumbled backwards, landing on something just sharp enough to do damage. She could do this. Liminality made people more resilient, but not indestructible. She has to do this.
The supply drop arrived first. Location C was the obscured ground entrance to the ops center it seemed. Jack was sent to do pickup since he needed the walk- something other than his friend to focus on for a moment- and because Jazz was helping her try to stop the very active bleed. Not long after did Phantom arrive, sinking down from the ceiling, back towards them, satchel covering tears in his suit. Was he injured? They both took notice.
“Where were you?” Jazz asked. Why did it seem like she knew the answer already?
“Wisconsin.” Phantom didn’t turn, but he sounded pissed. For a protection obsessed ghost, he was doing a good job of not going mad from the situation it appeared. “Plasmius was trying to break down another millionaire to add to his collection of assets.” Phantom unclipped the stolen thermos from his belt and set it on the back counter with a solid thunk. He landed audibly, hand still on the thermos. It was barely there, but the quick tap tap of shoes landing on linoleum didn’t lie.
Was that a trick? Phantom never landed with noise unless he crashed. Was he that hurt from the fight or was it for intimidation? Maddie had yet to look at him for more than a moment, but knew the threat Plasmius posed. Paul’s bleed was still active, so she was going off sound. The back door upstairs opened. Jack was returning with the supplies. A zipper opened, water started running, turned off, shuffling and the sound of nitrile gloves. A well practiced sequence. She doesn’t know if she should be happy or worried that the ghost knew how to prep, let alone for a human surgery.
The lab door opened and Jack stumbled in with a duffel and a medium locked chest that emitted a cool blue glow.
“Phantom!” Jack boomed in glee and went to hug the ghost, forgetting the other’s hostility with the hope the medical aide brought. Danny growled a warning at the man to no avail as he was swept up into a bone crushing hug, the duffel swung to the side. He next bore his fangs half in a threat, half out of pain. Maddie could hear the wince as he went intangible to land again. He was hurt too.
Easiest to see? Not much. The surgical apron he wore hid most of his body. Although she saw more once he moved to exchange his now no longer clean garbs. The hazmat suit underneath was torn, vivid green stained the rips and leaked from one unseen bandage. The ghost’s hair was tangled and scorched in one place. A set of dark bruises were fading more and more into view on his jaw from either a punch, vice like grip, or both. His breathing was slightly labored. Wait, breathing? He shouldn’t be breathing. The ghost looked down at his bleeding side, placed a hand there with a tired swear, froze the wound, and told Jack off again for the hug. New garb acquired, he grabbed a small box from the unpacked duffel-how had that happened?- and made his way over.
“Move,” Phantom gently ushered Jazz away and locked eyes briefly with Maddie from the other side of Paul. “Welcome to the world of unorthodox medicine for unorthodox entities, Dr. Fenton. It’s different seeing it be someone you care about, isn’t it?” Danny focused on the display that was Paul’s insides. She stepped back at the remark, stumbling for words.
The temperature in the room dropped and the table frosted at the edges. Phantom ignored her and opened the small box he brought over. It was a silvery powder with flecks of blue and green. It was mixed with the barest amount of water, effectively becoming a strong coagulant of some sort. At least it stopped the bleed she had been fighting and absorbed any in the area. Jazz appeared with a pack of what was not quite ectoplasm and secured it to a drip. She explained it was altered ectoplasm that can act as a universal transfusion for any liminal being. The pair worked in such surprising coordination and efficiency that Maddie often found herself in the way. The most she was able to do after the ghost had responded was hold tissue out of the way so Phantom could better reach a hidden bleed or grab another transfusion bag out of the icy chest. She eventually sat back and let the pair take over entirely, helping Jack pass supplies over for a bit now that he’d returned from giving Paul’s family the news. After that, he left to go think. He needed to decompress, but Maddie couldn’t bear to leave her friend on the table or her child and a ghost alone.
“Open the portal Maddie,” Phantom half ordered in a civil tone hours later. Probably the only one he could manage with his depleted energy. She could see how tired he was even before he started in on a multi hour surgery. Now there were moments where white light would appear around him or his hair would flicker with shadows. “Frostbite and Phasma are here with transport.” The door opened into the familiar green swirls.
“Great One, how are you doing?” A creature adorned in gold that Maddie had never seen before stepped through to the mortal plane and approached the operating table. The next ghost to enter looked strikingly similar to Phantom, injuries included, but a better patch job. She floated over to Jazz who stood closer to the back counter, visibly disturbed by the lab. Several more of the same kind of creature followed through with a pod of some sort, parking it near the portal. She’d have to ask about being called “Great one” later, if Phantom would even allow it. He was becoming more unstable on his feet with every passing second, so she doubted it would be soon if at all.
“Tired,” he finished up the last of the stitches and dropped out of the surgical garbs. “You got it from here?” Another flicker of white light danced around his torso.
“Undoubtedly,” the creature that could only be some sort of yeti replied, placing its icy hand on Phantom’s shoulder. “You’ve done well.” It looked him up and down with dismay, then scanned the faces in the room. “Would you like to come with to get some rest as well? Or to be a familiar face for your friend when he awakes?” Frostbite had waved the company on to assess the patient, moving Danny around the moving pod towards the portal.
“Appreciated, but I need to get-”
“Some rest,” Jazz interrupted. “Go with Paul and Frostbite. The team can handle the rest,” she glanced at Dani. “Thank you for getting them, Phasma. Can you take the Plasmius to the others? He needs to remain secure until Phantom comes back.” Phasma lifted a little, grabbed the thermos containing Vlad, and flew off without hesitation. “Go get patched up Phantom. Now.” Phantom rolled his eyes and conceded, moving towards the portal once more. How did Jazz have this much sway over the ghosts? They never listened to anyone and yet she had given the strongest one here and his sibling? direct orders and they obeyed like there couldn’t even be contest. Questions for later. Even more it seemed.
“Thank you for everything, Phantom,” Phantom drifted then paused. The words seeming to sink in. This was the least she could say, right? This ghost had been called to his enemy’s house, the most dangerous place inside said house, while injured, to save a human he didn’t know, and he brought backup, asking nothing in return, all because someone made the call. And now he’s being sent away for who knows how long to help keep an eye on said human. Phantom turned from his friend and looked at her blankly. No snide remark or joke. No anger or grudge. Just a hand on his tall supporter. “If you ever need anything, let us know. We will fully support you.” The bare minimum to try and repay this debt. It bit at her mind. A single life in exchange for anything. A debt stated to a powerful ghost with many allies. But if this was his true nature, to give and protect those in need, then the least she can do is to try and amend the rift between them by promising aid.
More light danced around him, each lasting longer now as the yetis secured the pod. Frostbite started to stoop down a bit, a better grip on the staggering ghost, no doubt for appreciated stability at this point. At last, he spoke, dropping his hand off the supporting yeti altogether in acceptance of his fate. “Let me rest for now. You and Jack will lay low. Jazz will handle arrangements. Bring the man’s family. I’ll join you later and we can discuss.” Frostbite had picked Phantom up mid conversation. By the the end of it, Phantom was reclined in the Yeti’s frozen arm like it was a comfortable chair. The pod had slid through the portal once more, pulled manually, followed by the rest of the ghosts. Paul was on his way to heal in a place no human should be. The lab was empty, noiseless, and stained with not quite human blood stains. Maddie went upstairs to relay the news. They’d have to get a hold of Vlad to tell Danny not to come home for a while. Wisconsin was safe, right?
-
Jazz drove out of Amity, the GAV taking the slowest drive it has in years no doubt. Jack and Maddie were not allowed to drive this time. Speed laws needed to be obeyed at least once. Sasha, Paul’s wife, followed behind in a run down truck, out of town, down an abandoned road, and up a hill. The safe house was a run down camp resort. The buildings came more into focus the more trees the two vehicles passed. The main lodge had to be months from caving in. The roof had already started to sag.
“This cannot be right, sweetie. Are you sure this is the-” The dirt road opened up at the base of the last turn up to the lodge. “I have so many questions.” Maddie’s jaw dropped as they continued into the tunnel.
“And I will answer very few of them,” Jazz chimed, turning on the headlights as they descended into the mountain. A button under the dash was pressed and a black wall opened before them. Blast doors. One in front of the other both lifting into the roof. Maddie turned the flood lights on to see the walls. Reinforced in every direction, completely solid. And controlled by a button in the GAV? Jack was astounded by the sights outside the vehicle he missed the sights hidden inside it.
They pulled off to the side and parked, Sasha pulling into the neighboring bay. Jazz was out first, giving a signal to a camera somewhere above. Maddie was out next, making her way to Sasha to help with luggage, Jack tumbled out of the back, still lost in the awe of the hidden facility. A gated platform lowered from an exposed wall and a young woman stepped off.
“Maddie and Jack Fenton,” she called out closing the short distance with a scowl. “Can’t say it’s a pleasure, more of an obligation,” she nodded in greeting. “I’m Violet, here to help keep you off the radar until things can be resolved. And to babysit.” An aptly timed comment as Jack kept wandering around like a kid with too much sugar. The woman moved on through the dim light, mostly hidden by her dark aesthetic. “Nice to meet you, Mrs. Ishiyama. I apologize for all the precautions we’ve insisted you take, but can assure you you will be back to a normal life soon,” the empathy was almost tangible. “If you all would follow me to the main floor, we can get you situated in rooms.”
The upper floor was shared common space, modestly furnished: each door with its own lock, a kitchen behind a social area, and a tv in front of two leather couches and matching recliners. The rooms given were all identical, simple yet welcoming. Jack had finished snooping around and drifted back into the Commons, noticing Jazz cooking as he rounded the corner, just like at home whenever some experiment had gone wrong. He also noticed Violet talking to somebody in the hallway before she closed the door returning with a basil plant. Maddie returned from their shared room as the woman set the herb down on a pull out table. The two were in stark contrast to one another. Jazz was so bright and forthcoming, giving off familiarity wherever she went. Visibly pastel until slighted. Violet walks with practice, every step measured to be just too long for the Fentons and perfectly paced for others at the shelter. Her inches long hair was a raven black, the undercut a vibrant purple that seemed to glow. She wore dark jeans dip dyed at waist in a similar hue to her hair. The tank top was black, Phantom’s D stamped in with bleach on the collar. Maddie could barely see her face, but emotions traveled almost too well despite the matched fabric mask. Sharp on the outside to everyone, barbed to those she disliked, and so caring to those who needed it. The switches in personality were flawless and natural. Almost concerning until her job was considered.
The two were talking about something. It seemed casual enough. Maddie sent Jack to go join and see what could be heard. Maybe he can smooth out some misunderstandings with the whole hunting Phantom thing while he was at it.
“-dye doesn’t work on my hair anymore, but this does make it much softer,” Violet sat on the counter as Jazz chopped some veggies for the pasta. “You can try it if you want. I’ve got other colors.”
“My mom would kill me if I dyed my hair.”
“Please, it’d be that security system that does it. Isn’t that why you have Alt shut it down remotely every other week? You’re all contaminated enough to qualify now. Have been for a while,” they both chuckled. That was a bit hard to hear. That took so long to build. He walked away and plopped down next to Maddie again.
“They said dinner will be soon, if we’re hungry.”
-
“So Jazz, how did you join the team?” Better to be blunt. It had been over a week already with nothing.
“I knocked Skulker’s head off during a fight and they liked my bat,” Bold faced lie.
“Give yourself some more credit, Jazz. Alt and I almost got crushed by him when you showed up. The least we could do was give you some stitches and a clean bed for the night after you do our job for us,” Violet elbowed the man beside her. His face was also obscured. Jack had seen him leave the room once or twice after passing a note to Jazz or Violet, but barely for longer. His mask was more of a visor mounted to an armored brace/band. The glass was tinted a yellow orange when on and always had something projecting inside it. He wore plain clothes outside the headset. Cargo pants and a graphic T with the key bind Ctrl + Alt + Del set onto analog keyboard decals.
“Besides,” Alt added after a bite of food, “you also helped patch up Phantom more than once. Not like we couldn’t, but y’know, good skillset to have.”
“Indeed it was,” the voice appeared from the doorway. Everyone turned in surprise and excitement. Paul was standing with an arm around Phantom who was floating to make up the difference in height. “Still a bit sore though,” he huffed a quick laugh as the two started their long trip of 15 feet to the couches. Sasha jumped up to both kiss and help her husband.
“You look better,” Maddie commented to the hero. Wasn’t he just that? Undeniable now after what she’s learned over the week. Alt and Violet ran interference and rescue while Phantom and Phasma handled the threat. Only property was ever damaged, aside from when Ancients came to pick a fight. “You’re not hurt anymore?”
“I heal fast. He’ll take some more time,” Paul and Sasha took the open couch and Phantom materialized a green beanbag chair under the tv. The sight was so different from when he had first dropped out of garbs and been carried by the yeti verses now. It was the same pose, but so much more alive. He was brighter, all his injuries were gone, his suit mended seamlessly and his hair was shorter, the fried ends being cut off. “Now for you to act on your promise Mrs. Fenton.” It was so casual, yet terrifying. “The lab you blew up? You only got part of it. We’re getting the rest and the others.” Phantom grinned, a fang catching the light of the room. Alt and Violet were prefiguring to stay seated at the announcement. Jazz wasn’t much more reserved either. “You ready?“
“Is it just us?” Maddie couldn’t lie it seemed impossible logistically. How can less than ten people take out a government agency?
“No, we have some friends a few states over who affected to help,” Phantom’s smile grew. “Jazz, you’ll get to see your boyfriend early.”
“PHANTOM!!”
“Boyfriend?” Jack repeated.

Fighting for Friendship
So Danny ends up in Gotham, how is up to u, but he is put in the same class as Damian.
Now Gotham is weird. Amity Park is weird to. But they r two different kinds of weird. Like Amity park is the “oh ur a bit weird, cool, so is everyone” kinda weird where Gotham is the “wait ur weird?? Fuck ur gonna be a rogue ain’t u?? Get tf away from me. Go have ur villain origin story over there” kinda weird.
So Danny can’t really make any friends bc he’s weird weird. Tho he’s not the only one in his class with this problem. The other guy, Damian Wayne, mainly sticks to himself and seems to be the only sane person in this school. Well, to Danny at least. This made Danny want to befriend him. Even if only to not be alone in his suffering. More than that Danny can feel the traces of ectoplasm on him! Even more reason for him to be friend shaped.
The problem is Damian seems to be in denial about his friend shapeness. Well to bad for him if Danny is one thing it’s stubborn. But dammit Damian seems to be a new level of stubborn. Nothing Danny does works!! It’s almost like this kid is from a different world or at least a different time!! Before he gives up however he has one last attempt. All or nothing!!
So he spends an inter week annoying the fuck outta Damian!! Looks it’s not a smart plan but it is a desperate one. It is also a plan that works a bit better than expected!!
He started his plan on Monday and it took til Friday for Damian to crack. After a full day of maximum annoyance Danny started following Damian home. They made it several blocks before Damian dragged him into a nearby alley and started swinging.
Now this Danny understood!!!
The universal language of ghost, Violence!!!
So the two beat the shit out of each other and r pretty evenly matched. Both of them r on even levels when it comes to speed and battle awareness and while Damian is definitely the better trained Danny is stronger and more durable. Needless to say the fight goes on for awhile.

He Would Tear the World Apart
Summary: During a raid, you're taken hostage. Shouto doesn't take the news well, and will do anything to get you back.
TW: kidnapping, abuse, alcoholism mentioned, Enji Todoroki's bad parenting, mental torture, dissociating, injuries, blood, angst, mentioned character death (no one actually dies), a lot of swearing, chains, starvation, dehydration, that sort of thing. If there's anything I missed, please let me know! Also, there is a happy ending, so it's angst to fluff!
A/N: First and foremost, I have no medical degree, I have no idea what it's like to dissociate, so anything medically incorrect is because I am not a doctor, though I am currently working on getting my psychology degree. I'm sorry if this offends anyone, that was not the intention. I have no idea what went through my head to make me write all of this in an hour, but here you go. Also, please read the trigger warnings, and if you don't like it, don't read it. Anyway, I might make a part two to this if anyone is interested. Feel free to spam my ask box, or slide into my DM's if you want. Please interact with me, I adore you all.
Aizawa sighed as he stepped into the conference room. He sat down heavily in his usual seat, and Nezu climbed onto his shoulder, as was custom after so many years, despite the situation they were in.
Again.
"As you have all heard, one of the second year students, (Y/N), has been taken. She was last seen on a raid with the hero she was studying under, and we haven't heard anything from her since this transmission."
Nezu pressed play on a recording and her voice floated through the air.
She was panting, and she was whispering, but Aizawa knew that it was her.
"To anyone receiving this transmission, this is hero-in-training Tempest, I'm pursuing the criminals associated with the gang 'The Numerals'. I've been separated from the others and my comms have been compromised by one of the members. Please, send back-up."
There was a pause where all they could hear was her breathing, and suddenly she yelled, "Hey! You, stop!"
There was static, and then there was nothing.
"We have received information from one of our recon teams that they have taken her to their base of operations, though we don't know exactly where that is yet. We have also, as a school, received a ransom demand. Her parents have yet to be contacted about this."
Copies of the notes were handed out to the teachers, and they all frowned, clearly thinking the same thing Aizawa had thought.
They were a school, what kind of school had this kind of money sitting around?
"What is the girl's quirk?"
"She can create different types of storms in her hands," Aizawa supplied. "As of the end of last year, she could make a hurricane for a few minutes at a time, sometimes a dust storm, and I know for a fact that she was undergoing training over the summer, so it might be more than that now. Under extreme duress, she can make a full scale electrical storm in a building or outside, but only if her life is threatened."
"So, not helpful for getting out of this kind of situation?" one of the other teachers chirped and Aizawa nodded.
"No," he agreed. "Though we should be checking for any strange storms and freak electrical spikes."
"Do any of the other students know about this?" Hizashi asked.
"No, and we need to keep it that way," Aizawa told his husband.
"Why?" Vlad King asked.
"(Y/N) is Todoroki Shouto's girlfriend," Aizawa replied, then waited for that to sink in before he continued. "If he finds out that she's gone, or that's she's been kidnapped and harmed . . . ." He shook his head a few times before he added, "He would tear the world apart to get her back."
"Fuck," someone mumbled, and Aizawa nodded.
Pretty much everyone that was at U.A. knew what that girl meant to Shouto, not to mention the people at Endeavor's agency, and the one that (Y/L/N) was working with.
"Alright, so what's the plan?" Midnight asked.
"We plan a rescue mission," Nezu said. "We're working with nearly every police force in the country to try and figure out where they're keeping her. We have a rough area," he clicked onto a photo of a map, one area to the far north highlighted in bright red. "But there's nothing we can do until then, we need a warrant and evidence."
"The life of a child isn't enough?" Midnight asked. "Especially such a beautiful girl?"
Everyone went quiet, the mood somber and heavy.
"Aizawa, you spent more time with this girl than anybody," one of the third year teachers said, "how likely is it that she'll find a way out on her own?"
"It's a possibility," Aizawa admitted. "She's a very capable student, on par with Midoriya, Todoroki, and Bakugou, but they know what she can do. Not to mention that sources tell us she was injured, though we aren't sure to what extent. And the longer she spends with them is more time Shouto has to figure out what's happening. Not to mention the other students. We need to get her out as soon as possible."
"Agreed," Hizashi added.
It was no secret that Present Mic and Eraserhead had both taken a liking to you when you were in Class 1-A, all of the teachers liked you, and you were a solid foundation for your classmates.
You were a calm presence, and everyone, Bakugou included, had gone to you for advice at some point, though it was all for different reasons.
You tend to be a level-headed person, but when you felt strongly about something, nothing was going to stop you.
People, Shouto mainly, would start to sense the lack of your presence, and Aizawa wasn't ashamed to admit that he wanted you back where you belonged.
"We can't keep him, Shouto I mean, in the dark about this," Hizashi murmured. "He's one of the best up and coming heroes."
"Not to mention," Aizawa added, "that we plan on flooding the streets with her photo. We've already sent it to all of the major hero agencies involved with the search, Endeavor's being one of them. If we don't tell him, his father will, and we all know how volatile that relationship is."
Everyone in the room shuddered at the mention of the father and son duo and nodded.
"Aizawa, All Might, it might be better if you both told him," Nezu said. "You both have the best relationship with him in this room, and you might be the only two that could hold him back if he reacts violently."
"And he will," Aizawa mumbled, already standing from his chair.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Shouto knew something was wrong.
He hadn't seen or heard from you in two days, almost three, and the teachers were acting suspicious. There were fewer of them in the halls, and Aizawa was even more tired than usual, with dark worry bags under his eyes that the students hadn't seen since the Bakugou Debacle in their first year.
The last he had heard, you were going on a raid for some gang members that were selling some sort of hallucinogenic drug based off of a mirage quirk.
You hadn't contacted him or come back since.
"Young Shouto, can we speak to you for a moment?" All Might asked, making everyone look up from what they were doing.
Despite the dorms no longer being completely necessary, (the League had backed off a little bit in recent days, and there hadn't been very many Nomu attacks lately), most of Class 1-A, now 2-A, had moved into the dorms for their second year, you and Shouto included.
"Does this have to do with (Y/F/N)?" he asked, standing quickly.
"Unfortunately, yes," Aizawa said, voice somber.
"Todoroki, do you want us to come with you?" Midoriya asked, getting that look on his face.
"If it's about (Y/F/N) then they all deserve to know too," Shouto said. "And I would feel better knowing they were here."
"Of-Of course," All Might replied, glancing at Aizawa nervously.
"(Y/L/N) has been kidnapped and is being held hostage as we speak," he told them, as blunt as ever.
Aizawa ripped his goggles off right before Shouto blew.
One half of his body erupted into blue tinted flames, and the other exploded in a rain of ice, but they evaporated quickly under Aizawa's gaze, and before any damage could be done to the dorms.
Everything went dark in his head, and his feet were moving before he even had a chance to fully process what his former teachers had been saying to him.
"And where do you think you're going?" Aizawa asked, raising an eyebrow as he moved to intercept him.
"To find her," Shouto snarled, and he didn't even recognize his own voice. It was several octaves lower than normal, and there was a rasp to it that had never been there before. "To get my girlfriend back."
"You don't even know where she is," Aizawa said. "We don't even know where she is. Besides, you're too emotionally involved."
"Too emotionally involved?" Shouto said, his voice too calm, his eyes too dead.
Everyone in the room took a step away from him. Everyone except Midoriya and Bakugou.
"Too emotionally involved?" he repeated.
"Oh shit," someone whispered, though Shouto didn't know who it was.
"That is my girlfriend. That is the love of my life and you're telling me that I can't get her back because . . . I'm too emotionally involved? What about when Midoriya went to get Eri? Was he too 'emotionally involved'?"
No one dared to point out that it was nowhere near the same thing, but there was a collective thought about it in the room.
"That is my fucking girlfriend out there," he snapped. "I will work harder than anyone to get her back. I will be the one person wholly invested in making sure that she stays safe."
"And that is why you can't be one of the people in on this," Aizawa told him. "The others are her friends, but you? You are way more than that, and that means that when it comes down to it, you can't make a clear-headed decision on whether it's worth it to try and grab her or not. Because she'll always be worth it to you."
"Damn right she will," Shouto said, staring Aizawa down.
No one had heard Shouto swear this much at once, if ever, depending on the person. He was starting to sound like Bakugou, and the others knew immediately that if you weren't back soon, he was going to blow.
"Look kid, I understand," Aizawa muttered. "I really do. I understand how you feel, I would do that same thing for Hizashi, but I also know what I would do, and we can't have that in the investigation. What would (Y/F/N) want?"
"She would want to be here!" Shouto shouted. "She would want to be teasing Bakugou in the kitchen, making sure that everyone had a blanket for movie night. She would want to be curled up with me on the couch watching bad romance movies that the girls cheated their way into picking out and making sure that I-!"
Shouto stopped as the emotions got lodged in his throat. Tears threatened to spill over as his vision got blurry, and the others were there to catch him as his knees gave out on him.
"We'll get her back kid," Aizawa assured him, crouching down, touching the top of his head softly. "We will get her back."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Your head was buzzing as you came back to consciousness and you suppressed a groan of pain.
Consciousness hurt.
You did a short mental tally of your injuries.
Your ribs were definitely a little bruised, if not cracked or broken. Your lips were split in at least four different places each. One shoulder was definitely dislocated, and the other was hurt in some way. Your left ankle was bruised and swollen, broken probably. Your head probably had a huge gash if the blood running down the side of your face was anything to go by, and you were definitely concussed on some level.
Apparently getting your head slammed into solid concrete by someone who had launched themselves off a ledge would do that to you.
You were in what looked like a basement of some sort. The walls were solid concrete, there were pipes running overhead and dripping on you randomly, which wasn't appreciated, and there was insulation and plaster showing through here and there.
"Finally awake sleeping beauty?"
Your head whipped around to see your kidnapper, but your head protested and so did your stomach, despite the fact that there was nothing in it.
You suppressed a groan, trying to keep your stomach where it belonged.
"Ready to tell us who the informant is?"
"Go straight to hell," you muttered, when you were certain you wouldn't throw up on yourself, glaring at them.
"I still can't believe you were fucking stupid enough to kidnap a child! She doesn't know shit," the other man snapped at the first.
"She has to know something!" the first guy snapped. "She was in on the raid!"
His quirk allowed him to change his voice, so he wasn't using the real one, he sounded like a guy that smoked twenty packs of cigarettes a day.
The other guy you had started calling Sandy in your head. His quirk was similar to yours, he was able to turn anything he touched into sand, and then use it. He mostly made sand storms, and that's how they had gotten the jump on you in the tunnels.
One had blinded you while the other had carried you away, much to chagrin of the Sandy.
"I'm in training," you rasped. "I'm hero-in-training Tempest, from Class 2-A at the school U.A."
They hadn't given you anything to drink in the last two days, from what you could even remember of it, and you knew that you weren't going to last much longer, having been dehydrated when they had taken you.
They had kidnapped you from the raid site, and then spent six hours driving around like morons trying to cover their tracks, before driving for an unknown amount of time before they had dumped you in here. You had been unconscious for the secondary part of the drive, and you knew that with everything going on, there was the possibility you were experiencing retrograde amnesia.
"They don't tell me the important stuff like that. I get told when we're going on raids, and what my part in them is, and that's on the very rare occasion that they happen during my shifts. Most of the time, I'm on patrols around the city," you told them, taking a break in your little speech to spit blood onto the floor by your leg. "You need directions, I'm your girl, but you need to know who's a rat, sorry, I can't help."
You would've shrugged, but your arms were chained to the wall behind you, and every time you moved your right arm it made an awful clicking noise that you knew wasn't natural. Your left shoulder was dislocated as well, meaning your arms were pretty much useless.
One leg was operational, but barely. You were so far out of commission you wouldn't be surprised if U.A. kicked you out to recuperate.
U.A. wouldn't, and couldn't, pay the ransom. You knew that. The best hope you had was that you could act your way out of this, or that they planned a raid to get you out.
They had done it for Bakugou, why not you, right?
Shouto passed through your thoughts, thoughts about what he might do to get you back, but you shut them down as soon as they entered your head.
You were trying to keep him in a safe place.
You hoped that Shouto never learned about this. About where they were keeping you, what they had already done to try and get you to talk.
He was your safe place now, safe and away from this building, wherever you were. You thought maybe if you could keep him out of your head here, it was a way of protecting him from the reality of your situation, even if he already knew.
"She's a kid," Sandy snarled, pointing at you viciously. "She's a kid. You know the Boss' rules about kids and you broke almost every one of them!"
"Yeah, well-"
"Guys, hey, I hate to interrupt," you interjected, "but I really have to go to the bathroom."
They both stared at you for a moment before Sandy asked, "Do you promise to not try and escape?"
"Buddy, I don't know if you've looked recently, but I doubt I'm doing anywhere," you quipped. "My ankle is obviously demolished, my head was cracked open like an egg, thanks to your buddy Darth Vader over there. Not to mention, I'm dehydrated and starving, and don't even get me started on how much my ribs are killing me right now, probably literally. Do I look like I'm in any shape to try and escape?"
Sandy frowned, glancing at you like this was the first time he was seeing the extent of what had been done to you.
"Alright, I'm going to undo the chains, but you can't try to escape, you'll only make things worse for yourself."
"Death seems preferable at this point," you grunted, trying to hide the pain you were in.
"Don't you have healing supplies?"
"How am I supposed to use them when I can't move my fucking arms?" you asked, wiggling your fingers in emphasis. "And you morons confiscated my belt, which had them all in it! You know what my quirk is! What did you think was in it? Explosives? No, I leave that to Dynamight."
"Fuck," Sandy muttered.
"Why do you care so much anyway?" the voice dude asked.
"Because if she dies then that means no money and no chance of surviving prison again. Do you know what happens to people who mess with kids in prison? Nothing good."
You logged that little piece of information away, trying to focus on their features, but with your concussion, your eyes weren't the hottest.
"Can you move?" Sandy asked you as he worked on unlocking your chains.
You couldn't help the cry of pain when your arms dropped to your sides, tearing stinging your eyes as you bit into your already roughed up lip.
"Shit. Can we get a medic in here?" Sandy shouted.
A door opened and someone stuck their head in. Sandy repeated his demand, and the door shut again.
"Why are you doing this?" you whimpered, trying to keep your voice even.
If they were sadists, any fear or pain you showed only gave them what they wanted.
"Because we don't have a choice," Sandy said. "The Boss gave us somewhere to belong, he gave us a place off the streets. We owe him. We would've died."
"Shut up," Smoker snapped, and you glanced at him.
"I have a headache, and it comes and goes as you talk. Please, for the love of all things holy, shut up," you hissed to Darth Vader, wanting to touch your head, but not being able to for multiple reasons.
Sandy touched your shoulder lightly and you cried out again, moving automatically to hit him, but your other arm twinged, bringing more tears to your eyes.
"Sorry," Sandy murmured, pulling his hands away.
You took a shaky breath, waiting for the pain to dull before you said, "There's no way I'm moving from this spot without being in pain, and I'm definitely going to need help."
"Holy fuck, you two morons were two lucky blows away from killing her."
You glanced over to see someone with a med kit strolling leisurely down the stairs.
"Hello Tempest," they said, giving you a bright smile.
"Hello Med Kit," you replied, giving them a grimace.
"You can call me Himo for now," Med Kit said. "Do you mind if I take a look?"
"You're going to whether I want you or not, but sure, go ahead," you muttered. "It's not really like you can make this any worse."
"I could break almost every bone in your body and keep you alive while doing it, so I could do so much worse, but that's not the goal here," Himo told you, setting to work.
"So what is the goal? Since I'm assuming that I'm never going to get out of here," you said, glancing around.
"Why do you think that?" Himo asked, ignoring your first question.
"Because I've seen your faces, I know your quirks, I know a general area of where I'm being kept, unless someone used a teleportation quirk of some sort. I know the school won't pay the ransom, my parents don't have that kind of money, and my boyfriend's father would never pay to see me safe and sound. He would probably twist his son's grief to get him to be compliant," you grumbled. "Besides, I'm a hero, hero-in-training, whatever, it's all semantics. I'm basically your arch-nemesis. Isn't that what every villain wants? To kill the person in their way?"
"We aren't villains," Sandy muttered.
"You break laws put in place to protect people, you attacked a minor, then kidnapped her after assaulting her, and you are trying to get a ransom for me," you pointed out. "That doesn't really scream 'hero' or 'civilian' to me."
"Have you ever though about who writes the rules? About how money can manipulate everything? The system is flawed, and we are going to make sure people know it," Darth Vader snarled. "Do you understand how unfair the world is?"
"Don't talk to me about the world being unfair," you whispered, your voice dropping, every muscle in your body tensing. "My boyfriend loves his mother more than pretty much anyone in the world. Her parents, his grandparents, arranged a quirk marriage, and she had four children she didn't necessarily want. Her husband drove her to near insanity, enough so that she poured a kettle of boiling water over my boyfriend's face because he looks like his father. His father has already managed to get one of his children killed, and he considers the other rejects because they don't have the quirk he wanted them to have. He's a different kind of monster, and he's not in jail.
"My own father verbally and mentally abused me for as long as I can remember. My mother and I were zombies until recently, when I decided I had had enough and my mother finally found the courage and will to leave his sorry ass in the gutters where it belongs. My father always had enough alcohol in his system to make him a human molotov cocktail. I had little to no self esteem until recently, and I still struggle to understand and comprehend that I am worth love. I am still learning to respect myself. So you don't get to preach to me about how unfair the world is buddy, we all know," you snarled.
"The hundreds, thousands of kids out on the street know. The women and men that get raped, and continue to see their own personal monster roam free know. The kids that get hit every day for not being what their parents want know. That's why people like me exist, to put away the monsters wearing human skin. That's why my friends and I try so hard to be heroes. It's not about the glory, or the money. It's about bring people to justice, it's about making sure that people feel safe. It's about giving other people something that we never had."
Silence echoed through the room as what you said sank in.
You hadn't meant to burst like that, but you were sick and tired of these guys using their shitty lives to make other people's lives shitty too.
"Why are you a hero, Tempest?" Himo asked.
"Because I want to save people," you replied. "I just told you that. I want to make sure that every child like me knows that they don't have to be their parents, that there is another option. I don't want the abused becoming the abuser. I want to make sure that the people doing the bad things get put where they belong. I want to help the kids that have nothing to lose, I want to help them realize that they have everything to gain. I want to give people like you hope."
There was no use in lying to them, they were probably going to kill you anyway. Besides, it might help you build rapport, and they might let you go when they realized that they made a mistake.
"People like us?"
"People who think that there isn't another option. People who have been shown nothing but the horrid parts of the world, the horrible parts of humanity. People who don't know what it's like to be loved completely by somebody, both good and bad. People who think that they owe someone who isn't worth one minute of their time. Good people who strayed too far from the path."
There was silence for a few minutes before you said, "I've seen a lot of real villains, people who aren't capable of basic human emotions, I've seen people who have no humanity in their eyes. They are the villains, they are the monster under our beds personified. People like you, you just simply wandered. You aren't lost, you're just further to the side than some other people. It would be easy for you to walk the path again."
You paused, thinking over what you said, then added, "Well, it wouldn't be easy necessarily, but it would be worth it."
"You still have the naivety of a child," Vader snarled.
"Call me what you want, naive, innocent, optimistic, I've heard it all, but in the end, I'm right," you told him.
"And how do you know that?"
"Because, at the end of the day, I know that every life I save isn't just one life," you replied. "That young woman I saved, she might have kids some day, or foster a child that needs a loving mother. That child I shoved out of the way might help the suicidal child in his class. Every life I save touches other people's lives. As hard as it is to believe, no one is ever truly alone in the world. Every smile I give to a stranger might make their day, might help them live long enough to find the thing that makes them happy. That's why I'm a hero."
More silence.
Your face heated, but there was something in their faces that told you they had never thought about it that way before.
"So, is there anything you can do to heal me?" you asked, breaking the silence.
"Like I said, these guys were two lucky blows away from killing you, I'm surprised that you're still alive, actually, everything considered. Your head will heal on it's own, but there might be a little scar left. However, your ribs might take longer. Three are cracked, and four are bruised. Your ankle might need surgery to get it back to the way it was. It's definitely broken, and there might be small bone particles floating around in there, I'm not entirely sure, my quirk isn't that detailed I'm afraid. Not to mention that, from what I can see, your shoulders just need to be popped back into place. One was dislocated more than the other, but it will hurt."
"Can't hurt worse than the state I'm in now. So what can you do? I'm assuming that taking me to a hospital is out of the question."
"Well, I can treat the cut on your head, relocate your shoulders, and I can see if someone else can take a look at your ankle, but everything else will have to heal on it's own."
"So there isn't much?"
"Nope, we don't have the equipment needed for your ankle here, and, like you said, no hospitals."
"Fucking gre- wait a minute, to you guys still have my belt?" you asked, perking up a little.
"Yeah, it's over here," Sandy said, walking over into the back corner, pulling your med belt out.
"Hand it over. I promise there's nothing too harmful in there. There are some painkillers, but it's just Midol. It's all medical stuff," you said, wincing as Sandy dropped it into your lap.
You opened it, taking out a small device.
"What does that thing even do?" Himo asked, looking at it warily.
"It's not a communicator or anything," you hurried to explain. "I made some friends in the support courses, so I asked if they could make me a device that works like an X-ray would. Himo, take it."
He took from you gently, which you appreciated, and turned it all around, trying to figure out how it worked.
"Alright, see that little button on the top left, yeah, right there. Click that button twice, like hitting the home button of a phone."
Himo did as he was told, and the screen blinked to life.
"Alright, hold the over my hurt ankle, and it should be able to show what's going on. Or," you added, "it'll blow up. Hatsume is kind of unpredictable like that."
Himo's hands tightened on it, but he did what you asked, and was clearly surprised when a detailed X-ray appeared on the screen.
"Holy shit, it worked!" you cheered, grinning.
"You have some very talented friends," Himo told you.
"I know right? She's a little quirky, but she's great at what she does!"
"How are you able to smile right now?" Sandy asked, looking at you with something akin to wonder.
"Don't get me wrong," you started. "I'm fucking terrified, but there's not much I can do in this situation. Besides, from what I can tell, other than the initial assault, you people don't want to hurt me. You want something from me. In this scenario, what I'm guessing, is that you want something from me, so you're going to be nice, and make me want to help you out, or make me feel like I owe you one, and then, when I don't comply, you'll either torture me to try and get what you want until I die, or you'll just kill me right off the bat."
Himo winced, and Sandy twitched.
"You guys really hate the thought of me dying, don't you?" you asked, cocking your head to the side, despite the protect of your brain. "Is this one of those scenarios where kids should be off limits?"
"We may be bad guys, but we have certain priorities," Sandy admitted. "Kids are a sore spot for most of us."
You nodded slightly. "I can see why. You guys said something about being on the streets? I know that sometimes kids band together, that's how they survive. I'm assuming you've lost friends."
"Smart kid," Himo murmured, eyes darting over the X-ray.
"Sometimes they give us profile training," you admitted. "Besides, I've been working on my psychology degree."
"Wicked smart kid," Sandy quipped.
"Alright, so I can set your ankle, there isn't anything wrong with it other than the obvious fact that it's broken," Himo said, handing the device back to you. "Riko, I'm gonna need your help."
"With what?" Sandy asked, looking skeptical.
"Can you hold her legs down? I need to relocate her shoulders before I do anything with her ankle, just because I have a feeling she attacks when she's hurt."
"Good instincts," you muttered.
"I'm a doctor," he confessed, grinning. "You learn a thing or two."
"Sorry about this," Sandy said.
"I wouldn't worry about it too much," you told him. "As long as that's all you do I'll considerate your way of trying to make up from everything else."
Sandy snorted, holding your legs just below your knees.
"This is going to hurt," Himo warned.
"I would be surprised if it-"
You clenched your teeth to try and keep your scream in as Himo popped your right arm back into place.
The rest of your body bucked, trying to roll away, but Sandy, Riko, had a firm hold on you.
You panted as the pain started to fade a little in your arm.
"Sorry, I've found it works better when people aren't expecting it," he said.
"Son of a bitch," you gritted out, spitting blood off to the side. "I bit my tongue."
Riko chuckled, shaking his head.
"Alright, now for the other one," Himo murmured. "I really don't understand how you managed to take this much damage."
"At least I only broke my ankle. My friend Deku has broken both arms, both legs, and both hands before. I think he's broken almost every bone in his body sa-"
Himo popped your other arm back into place and you couldn't stop the tears that flowed down your cheeks at that one, your jaw almost cracking with how hard you clenched it to try and keep the noises in.
"Fucking fuck," you muttered when the pain pulsed into something a little bit more bearable.
"Better?" Himo asked, prodding your shoulders.
"Yeah," you admitted, moving them slowly. You dug around in your med belt, pulling out two pieces of metal and a small bottle.
"What is that for?" Himo asked.
You pushed a button on the metal, and they extended to the required length.
"It's for a splint, or a cast," you told him. "Once you set my ankle, you put the metal on either side, and I can spray this one. It's a special kind of plaster, don't ask me how it works, I have no idea what's in it, but it'll hold until my ankle is fully healed, then it'll fall off on it's own."
"Amazing!"
"Heroes, when the respond to disasters, often have to set up triages until other emergency responders can arrive, so we have to know a little bit about basic medical treatments in emergencies like that. So a lot of us have belts and such to keep medical stuff in. I also keep duct tape and glue in here. You never know when you're gonna need it."
You pulled out some painkillers, popping two in your mouth, taking them dry.
"How?" Vader asked, sounding horrified.
"Hate to break it to you, but when you're a teenage girl, especially one learning to be a hero, when you don't always have time for water, you learn to take pills dry."
"TMI," Vader muttered.
"Hey, jackass, you asked," you told him.
Riko and Himo chuckled.
"Alright. Riko, see if you can get a hold on her, this is gonna hurt like a bitch," Himo warned. "Li, hold her other leg down."
"Don't use my fucking name!" Vader shouted.
"You know, I wouldn't have known that was your real name if you hadn't reacted that way," you told him. "Heroes are also trained to pick up on certain behaviors like that."
Li grumbled, but did as he was asked.
Himo situated himself, then said, "Get ready."
The pain had you blacking out before you knew what happened.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I knew something was wrong," Shouto muttered for the umpteenth time in the last ten minutes. "I should have gone with her!"
"Dude, it wasn't even your mission," Kaminari told him. "There was nothing you could've done for her."
"Yeah you half-and-half bastard," Bakugou chimed in. "Besides, we're gonna get her back, so shut up and try and think of something useful."
Everyone had leapt into action when it had sunk in that you were in serious danger. It didn't take long, and no one wanted to acknowledge that it was worrisome.
They had split up into teams.
Midoriya, Bakugou, Shouto, Kaminari, and Kirishima were working on the maps that had been given to the students.
Momo, Jirou, Uraraka, Mina, and Tsuyu were going over the interviews with raid members, trying to gather up information on what had happened, trying to see if there was a traitor among them, other than the undercover agent that they had been told about.
Tokoyami, Ojiro, Shoji, Sero, and Koda were helping the other heroes do recon missions and patrols in the area where they suspected you were being held.
Sato, Shinso, Hagaruke, and Iida were working on the case files of all the known members of the gang that you had been going after. Surprisingly, those four were the only ones able to hear about the things that some of the gang members had done.
Hagakure was crying softly to herself as she read, but no one could pull her away from the files.
"I have to know," she kept saying. "I need to know about what they did so I can help when we get her back."
Sato didn't know you as well as the others did, so he was a little less effected. He were itching to get you back, but the others had spent far more time with you personally.
Shinso, on the other hand, was powering through them, wanting to know what he had to avenge when they got to that building. He wanted to know what they might be doing to you so that he could have far more reason to get them arrested.
Iida just wanted something useful to do.
"They just cleared building seven in section 3-C!" Aoyama called from his spot the progress computer that they had set up in the common room.
Aoyama was in charge of letting them know what had been cleared, what was under suspicion, and what they had ruled out completely.
"Fuck, that pretty much clears that grid section," Bakugou muttered, forcefully crossing an abandoned apartment building off his map.
"They might need to expand their net," Midoriya added. "No one knows where she is. There's the possibility that they aren't even in that area."
"I hate this!" Shouto burst out. "I feel useless just sitting here!"
"It's either this or you get stuck back on the sidelines," Bakugou reminded him and he clenched his fists.
He just wanted you back safe and sound by his side, preferably with his arm around your shoulders.
He'd been trying to remember the last thing he said to you before you had gone on that raid, but he couldn't remember.
He hoped that it was 'I love you' or something similar, but not knowing was killing him.
"Todoroki-kun," Midoriya said, laying a hand on his arm. "We will get her back."
"Yeah, we aren't giving up on her, no way in hell," Kaminari added, eyes flashing gold in the lights of the common room.
"She never gave up on us, it's not manly for us to give up on her," Kirishima chimed in.
"I know," Shouto said. "I trust you all."
It went unsaid, but understood, that when it came time to get her back, Shouto was going to be the one leading the rescue.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A week later, Himo came into the basement and said, "Do you think you can walk?"
"On one leg maybe. Why?" you asked.
Your ankle was wrapped in the cast that you had taken out, but your ankle was feeling a little better than it had been. It still throbbed every once in a while, but it could've been worse.
"The boss wants to see you."
"Oh, the big boss," you griped, rolling your eyes. "He wants to see me he can come down here himself."
Himo hesitated, but he nodded, heading back upstairs.
You had known that there was an undercover agent in the gang, but you had yet to figure out who it was.
Every member of the gang seemed to know that you were there, that, or they were much bigger than you had anticipated.
So far, Himo and Riko were your top two suspicions, given that they were the only two that were actually kind to you, but you had a small part of you that wasn't sure.
The door opening a few minutes later announced the arrival of the leader, and you steeled yourself.
"You fucking morons," the man muttered, rubbing his eyes like he had a headache. "What did I say about kids?"
"Sorry Boss, but we didn't have a choice," Li said, stepping out of the shadows.
He had been stay with you for the entire week, and it was clear that you didn't have the kind of rapport with him that you did with Riko and Himo.
You had been trying to make a storm, something, to let the someone know where you were, but you had idea of knowing whether it was working or not. You were in the experimental stages of the large storm capabilities of your quirk, and you were completely drained at the moment.
"What's your name kid?" the man asked.
His hands were covered in rings, and scars littered the little bit of skin his tailored suit showed off.
You had seen Shouto in high class clothes for gatherings that he was required by social convention to attend, so this guy was either rich, or so far into debt that he was on the run from the banks.
"You can call me Tempest," you said.
"(Y/N). Second year at U.A. Class 2-A student, and one of the new public favorites," Li said.
"Aw, you looked me up, how sweet," you taunted. "But like I said, I prefer Tempest, it sounds cooler."
"Far enough," the boss said.
He was wearing a mask that covered the top half of his face, and a fedora type hat, so there wasn't much to catalog, but you did anyway.
"Are you here to kill me?" you asked, crossing your arms over your chest, despite the way it made the chains rattle.
"No, not if you give me what I want," the man said. His voice was deep, and he looked like he was in his early thirties, but you weren't entirely sure.
"I don't know who your rat is," you stated.
"How do you know that's what I wanted?"
"When I woke up on day two, your Sandy man and Darth Vader over there were talking about it. Vader actually asked me about it." You paused, then said, "You guys do realize that I'm right under an intern right? I'm not high enough to know about UC's. Think of me like the intern's intern. I'm lucky I even got to go on the raid."
The man watched your for a moment before he said, "I hate it when people tell me the truth. It means I don't get to have any fun."
"Sucks to be you then," you replied. "So what happens now?"
"You get broken," the man said, reaching out to touch your forehead.
"Good luck with that," you muttered when he pulled away.
Then the visions started.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Everybody get up!" Aoyama shouted. "Up, up, up! Someone called in a noise complaint late last night!"
Class 2-A poured into the common room.
Shouto, Midoriya, Bakugou, Kirishima, Kaminari and Sero ran in with no shirts on, and Kaminari fell trying to pull his shorts up over his Pikachu boxers. Shinso was already in there sitting on the couch with a cup of coffee clad in a t-shirt with a cat meme and dark jeans.
The girls poured in in a mix of pajamas and hoodies that they had stolen from the boys over the last week, their hair a mess and dark bags under their eyes.
"What's going on?" Shouto asked. He knew that his bags were darker than anyone's, and no one had seen him sleep in almost three days.
"Late last night someone called the tip line anonymously to complain about screaming from a condemned building smack dab in the middle of section 1-A. Someone checked into it and there has been a lot of activity in that area lately," Aoyama explained.
He had given up trying to keep up the sparkly attitude, though some of the French had stayed.
"Is there anything else?"
"Guess which gang has been operating in the middle of that area?" Shinso said, having stayed up with the sparkly blond.
"The Numerals," Shouto said.
"Tres bein!" Aoyama replied.
"Have the heroes been notified?"
"They started a conference at three this morning," Shinso said.
"And no one told us?" Shouto asked.
"They wanted to let us sleep. They know how hard we've been working," Shinso replied.
"I'll sleep when we get her back," Shouto snapped, heading for the conference room.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Aizawa shouldn't have been surprised when his former students streamed into the meeting that was being held to rescue (Y/L/N), but he was.
Though that might have been because most of the boys were shirtless and the girls were clad in their pajamas, and hoodies that were clearly not theirs.
"Catch us up," Shouto demanded.
"Shouto, what are you-"
"Shouto, you are aware that this is merely to scope out the building, correct?" Aizawa interrupted, glancing at his former class.
"We don't fucking care," Bakugou snarled. "You're going to catch us up, and you're going to let us join, because she's our friend, and we're the strongest team that you could ask for."
"We can't, in good conscience, let kids into-"
"Do we need to mention all the times that the League has attacked us in the last year? Not to mention Gentle Criminal, Stain, the whole Chisaki ordeal, should we go on?" Midoriya asked, frowning.
Endeavor went to talk again but more students started to talk.
"We can help," Kirishima chimed in. "We want to help."
"Besides," Kaminari added before any of the adults could chime in, "the more hands you have the better it'll be. We can capture more members and get her back. It's a win-win scenario. Gangs are known to be disorganized. If you can get word to your informant about a stealth mission, you might be able to get both them and (Y/L/N) out with minimal risk to them both."
"And we have useful quirks," Jirou supplied. "Kaminari can kill any power they have, Bakugou and Midoriya are good for taking stuff down, so are Kirishima and Sato. Todoroki is more than capable of restraining anyone that he comes across, and I can tell you where people are, how many and so on."
"Not to mention I can make communicators that are much harder to disconnect," Momo piped up.
"People don't really know about me yet," Shinso said, hands in his jeans pockets. "They don't know my quirk, so they're much more likely to fall for me, which is more than helpful for you, since it makes fighting back much less likely."
"We want to get her back, me more than anyone," Shouto said, arms crossed over his chest. "We can useful. Besides, I don't think I need to mention all the times that we've stepped in without your permission and gotten the objective completed while keeping everything legal."
Aizawa sighed.
"We really should just let them help," he said. "They're going to keep pushing, and I don't want any of them expelled and arrested. They are some of the best up and coming heroes. Besides, they all make good points."
"I feel the need to point out," Midoriya chimed in, "that the more of us you take, the more heroes you can have causing a distraction, or the more you can release to recharge and work on other things that are starting to take precedent, like the drug that the gang is manufacturing and selling."
There were more whispers, and finally the heroes sighed.
"Alright, but you're working with Eraserhead and Endeavor, since they're going to be leading the mission with Fatgum."
"We can work with that," Bakugou said. "But we want permission to engage if necessary."
"You would have that anyway," Fatgum said.
"We also want credit if we find her," Sero added. "We aren't going to let possible attackers think that we're defenseless. They take on one of us, they take on all of us."
"That can be discussed," Present Mic assured them.
"This should go without saying," Shouto began, "that I get to ride with her in the ambulance when we find her."
"Everyone assumed that anyway," Midnight told him. "Don't worry Todoroki, no one is going to keep you away from her."
Endeavor opened his mouth, but sharp looks from everyone had him shutting it again.
The students nodded.
"Now catch us up," Bakugou demanded.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You couldn't remember when you had stopped processing things the proper way.
You couldn't remember a time before the nightmares.
They talked to you, they wanted you to know about an informant. Sometimes Shouto appeared, smiling and reaching his hands out to you. Sometimes your father walked in, drunk as always, shouting at you to do better.
You retreated in on yourself.
You turned to that small part of your brain that you had made to wait out the fighting, the yelling, the hurt. You retreated into the part of yourself that you knew no one could ever enter but you.
Shouto was there like he always was. He wasn't entirely your Shouto, but he wasn't the nightmare either.
He was a figment of your imagination, but he made things a little bit better.
"I'll come," he assured you. "I'll find you."
You were lying in a meadow, a small clearing surrounded by trees that were bent over you to create a small dome of shade.
"I know you will," you told him, reaching your hand out to him.
He touched his fingers to yours, but you couldn't feel it.
You remembered someone in the past calling it dissociating, but you weren't a professional yet.
You had never done it at U.A. since you had never felt the need, but this wasn't something that you would ever be able to forget how to do.
You could still see the nightmares, but it was like it was far away, background noise.
"Do you think that you'll ever go back?" Shouto asked. "Do you think that you'll ever go back to me?"
"Maybe, if the nightmares ever stop. If I think that it's actually you that I'm going back to," you said, watching him carefully.
"Do you remember the last thing you said to me?" Shouto inquired.
"Yeah. I said, 'I'll always come back to you'. Why are you asking me that?"
"Do you remember what I said to you?"
"You said, 'Promise me you'll be safe?' I was about to go on the raid, and you were upset about not being able to go with me."
"Do you promise to remember that?" Shouto asked.
"Yeah, I promise," you told him, smiling a little.
"(Y/F/N)! Oh, darling, what did they do to you? (Y/F/N), can you hear me?"
The nightmare was getting better at looking like the real Shouto, and this one had the same voice.
"Go to him," the dream Shouto said, sitting up.
"Why?"
"(Y/F/N), blink if you can hear me," Shouto demanded.
You forced yourself to blink.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Shouto couldn't describe to absolute relief it was to see you blink.
He had seen the discarded cast off to the side of you, and he wasn't sure whether you would be able to hear him in that state.
"Hey darling, come on, we're gonna get you out of here, I promise," he murmured, touching your face lightly.
"Sh-Shouto," you rasped. "Shouto, wh-what was the last thing that you said to me?"
"Darling, don't try to speak," he told you, trying to figure out how to cut through the chains without hurting you.
"Shouto, what was the last thing that you said to me?" you asked again, reaching up to grab his hand.
"'Do you promise me that you'll be safe?'" he said, eyes roving over you to try and see any wounds. "That's what I said to you."
Your eyes widened in surprise before tears slipped out of your eyes.
"Sho, it really is you!"
"Darling, hey," he murmured, touching your face softly.
You were sobbing now, fully body sobs, and Shouto wanted so badly to take a moment to just relish in the fact that you were safe, but he had to get you out of there as soon as possilbe.
"Tsukuyomi," Shouto called. "Can Dark Shadow cut through chains?"
"Yes."
"I'm on the basement level of the building. I have Tempest, can you meet us down here?"
"On our way," Tokoyami assured him.
"Guys, I have her, she's in the basement with me, we're getting her out as we speak," Shouto declared over the coms, and he was met with cheers and relief that you were okay.
"How many of you are here?" you asked, wiping at your face.
"The whole class is here," Shouto told you. "Most of the hero agencies sent representatives that are here too."
"Seriously?"
"Yeah, people were really upset that you were taken, especially with the role you played in apprehending Numeral gang members on the last raid, and the part you played in bringing the drug to light."
"Wow," you murmured, making Shouto laugh.
"Hold on just a little bit longer darling," he coaxed. "Our friends are on the way."
"I can't believe that it's really you," you whispered, touching his face softly, rubbing your thumb over his scar the way you did.
"Oh darling, what did they do to you?" he asked.
"For the past couple of days they've been trying to break me, they want to know who the undercover agent is. I don't know who it is though, so the leader of the Numerals used his quirk on me. He makes the drugs. His quirk makes you see things, makes you feel things. It's like he can burrow into your head and take the images out of your head."
You shuddered in his arms and he frowned as Tokoyami appeared in the doorway.
"Hello (Y/L/N)," he said, smiling at you.
"Hey little bird," you replied, your smile watery with emotions.
"Can Dark Shadow get through those chains?"
"Of course," Tokoyami told Shouto.
"Hello starlight," Dark Shadow said.
"Hi Dark Shadow," you murmured, stroking the sentinent creature before he tore through the chains like paper mache.
You rubbed at your wrists for a moment before you threw your arms around Shouto, burying your face in his neck.
"Sho," you sobbed, tears back full force.
"I've got you darling," he murmured. "I've got you. You're free, you're free."
You nodded, arms tight around him.
Shouto scooped you up, cradling you against his chest, letting you sob as much as you needed to.
The paramedics that had been called to the scene hadn't managed to get Shouto to let go of you, and you showed no signs of letting go of him, so they had managed to do everything they needed to with you clinging to him.
"She'll need physical therapy, not to mention professional trauma therapy. She's malnourished and dehydrated, not to mention suffering from exhaustion and a very severe concussion. Her ankle needs to be further inspected, and there's some internal damage, some cracked ribs that might need to be taken care of, but we can do some more thorough work at the hospital. I assume that you're coming with her?" the paramedic asked when he was finished.
"Yes, I'm her boyfriend," Shouto said.
"Alright, well, you have to let go of her so that we can get her hooked up to an IV and make sure that we don't make her concussion any worse. You really shouldn't have moved her, but there's only so much we can do about that now," the other paramedic told him.
"I-It's okay Shouto," you murmured, pulling away from him enough to wipe your face off.
Your breathing was ragged, and you looked like you wanted to go back to being unconscious, but you allowed the paramedics to get you onto an IV and a bed with a neck supporter.
"Shouto, will you stay with me?" you asked.
"Always darling," Shouto said, gripping your hand.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Forthree weeks afterwards, you were stuck in the hospital. Your ankle hadn't been as bad as it had been feared, you back on your feet in a week, and you were undergoing physical therapy.
You were back to a normal diet, and you were going to therapy three times a week. Well, the shrink came to you, but semantics.
Your class visited every day, bringing you your homework and recorded lessons, most of them crying, and more than elated that you were back, safe.
Shouto, after being given permission by your parents, was being counted as a family member, and he had been practically living in the hospital with you.
For the first week, he had refused to leave your hospital room. He had slept curled around you, despite the machines that you had been hooked up to, he had missed class, staying with you and keeping you company.
There was also the reason of him being the only one to be able to calm you down after a nightmare.
There were nightmares where you woke up sweaty and nervous, asking the nurse on the night shift to light the candles that were all around your room.
But there were some that had you hurtling to the small bathroom in your room, hurling the contents of your stomach up. Then there were the ones that got so bad that you locked yourself in the bathroom, hiding yourself away in a corner until someone noticed and got a hold of Shouto.
They were getting better, and you were getting better about people coming up behind you, the touching.
For a few days after being admitted to the hospital, the only person who could touch you was Shouto.
Your mother had been heart broken every time you flinched away from her touches.
Your father had only come once, and he had been carried out by hospital staff after Shouto had tossed him out of your room.
You had retreated into yourself after that, and had come clean to Shouto about some of what had happened while you were being held hostage.
The therapy was helping, and so was the massive support that you were getting from the public and other heroes that had been in similar situations.
Your friends were very understanding of you not touching them as much anymore, and you and Bakugou were closer than ever, since he had experienced something similar.
Today was your first day back in the dorms, and you weren't going to lie to yourself, you were nervous.
The class had slowly starting moving all the gifts that you were receiving into your room, so you were only carrying a small bag.
"Shouto," you began. "You know that you can walk away if I get to be too much right?"
It had been bothering you for a while, that he had stayed with you for so long. It had bothered you that he had given up so much of his time for you, while getting very little from you in return.
"Why would I do that?" Shouto asked cocking his head to the side in confusion.
"I just mean that . . . well, I know that I haven't been the easiest girlfriend to have recently, and I . . . I have more issues than when we first started dating, and things have changed. I'm way more high maintenance than I was. I wouldn't blame you if you wanted a different girl-"
"Stop it right there," he demanded, turning to you.
His eyes were hard, despite his soft tone of voice.
"(Y/F/N), I don't want anyone other than you," he said. "I don't care if you wake me up at three in the morning screaming. I don't care if you sometimes have days where you feel like you can't say anything to me. I don't care if you have days where you can't get out of bed. I love you. I love you more than anything, and those things are not going to stop me from loving you.
"You are one of the strongest women in my life, and I am not letting you go because you have some issues. We've all got issues, hell, I have issues we haven't even touched on. Those things are just another part of you that I get to love. Alright?"
You nodded, blinking back tears.
"What did I ever do to deserve you?" you asked softly, wrapping your arms around his neck.
He waited for a moment before he wrapped his arms around your waist.
You weren't entirely sure why touch was such a problem for you now. Other than the injuries you had received during the fight, nothing had happened to you that would explain it, nothing you could remember anyway.
There had been some retrograde amnesia that went along with your kidnapping, though the doctors had assured you that those memories would come back with enough time.
And they had. There were still a few blank spots, but there weren't nearly as many as there had been.
"All the right things," he murmured, kissing your forehead hesitantly.
"I love you too Shouto," you told him.
He smiled softly at you, then turned towards the doors.
They opened, revealing your friends and a huge banner with your characterized face on it.
"Surprise!" they all said, though they didn't yell it like you had thought they would.
"Welcome home (Y/F/N)," Shouto said, sliding his arm around your shoulders as you both walked out.
Yeah, this was home.
Timekeeper's assistants AU
Alright y'all! This is gonna be my info dump post for the Timekeepers assistant Au- buckle up cause it's gonna be a long one!
Inspired by @queendibz post here
The entire purpose of the assistant squad is to keep all the time lines running smoothly- this can range from stopping a world ending event to making sure things misplaced by natural ghost portals get put back into the right time and place.
So First up on the crew list,
Dan:
-Dan definitely isn't a homicidal maniac anymore but he's not 100 percent "redeemed" either.
-I mean he's probably still a bit of sadist but he tries not to be?
-The best description I can give is that he's in recovery, basically.
-So, Clockwork knew that Dan would eventually bust out of the thermos just because it wasn't built to hold a ghost of his power level for a prolonged period of time. But beyond that?? He has no idea about anything in regards to Dan. Since Dan's creation was averted, his timeline doesn't exist anymore. He's a paradox that exists outside of time, and unfortunately, that means he's the one entity in the multiverse that exists in Clockwork's blindspot. There's no way for him to know what Dan's going to do next.
-Anyway, Dan eventually breaks out of the thermos fully intending to Fuck Shit Up, And Clockwork makes a point of informing him that if he leaves the clock tower he will cease to exist. (Like Dan, the tower exists outside of time, so he's safe there.)
-Dan is the first member of the assistant squad. Granted, it took a while for him to come around to the idea of helping Clockwork but he got there eventually.
-Dan is an entity that was born out of the rage and grief of two very broken people and he has so much shit he's working through as a result
-One of the first things he had to do was recognize and accept that he's an entity that's completely separate from Vlad and Danny. He might have all their memories and the weight of their mistakes on his shoulders, and on top of that, the atrocities he himself committed because of them. The first step is realizing that he doesn't have to be defined by the people that made him.
-It's a really fucking difficult thing to do tho and he's got a lot of weird emotions in regards to Vlad, Danny and the Fentons as a result. A near constant identity crisis, self loathing, daddy issues, something that could arguably be called an Oedipus complex, (FUCKING THANKS, VLAD)
-Cannot stand the smell of fast food, it makes him nauseous and the sight of Nasty Burger sauce alone is enough to make him vomit Ectoplasm.
-He's just a hot mess all around y'all
-He tries to keep his interactions with the Danny's as minimal as possible at first bc of this. The first time he meets them in person he shape shifts into Danny like he did in TUE and just pretends to be one of them. Some of them have had interactions with their respective Dan's already and would be super wary of him and probably pretty freaked out otherwise.
-Dan is eventually allowed to leave the clocktower for supervised "Field missions" with the aid of a time medallion to keep him from poofing out of existence, but it takes a while for clockwork to build up that level of trust.
-Dan's shapeshifting ability Actually comes into play a bit on a lot of those missions, since he can Mimic Danny it also makes sense that he'd be able to impersonate Vlad in the same way. Granted he's not incredibly comfortable taking on either of their appearances but it does help him hone his shapeshifting ability to the point where he's able to pick and choose features from both Vlad and Danny and sorta make his own human disguise.
-Most of the time he acts as the eye in the sky from the tower, monitoring for timeline anomalies and then notifying the appropriate member of the assistant squad.
-He has a room under the clock tower that he operates from. I kinda like the idea of there being like, catacombs down there? Anyway he's got all kinds of monitors and view screens and he very rarely leaves. It also doubles as his "living space." He doesn't need to sleep but he's got a big mess of a pillow fort that he crashes in regardless bc sometimes you just NEED to be unconscious for a while. The catacombs are also absolutely full of those little blob ghosts that wander around the zone bc They're attracted to the ecto energy the tower gives off. He's really annoyed by them at first but they grow on him after a while and now he just dotes on them.
-There's a specific throw pillow sized one that likes to hang out in Dan's room a lot and he ended up getting a little over attached to the stupid thing. His name is Dorian. Bc he's a gift.
-SIR THATS MY EMOTIONAL SUPPORT BLOB
-Dan's appearance has changed slightly. He wears his hair loose now and it's kinda just this big fiery mane when it's not contained. His cape is more of a cloak now, it has a hood and he wears it sorta pinned together at the shoulder so the DP logo is covered.
-Dan's relationship with the rest of the Danny's is kinda weird, and a little strained. He has a hard time being around them for very long because, well, he used to sort of be them? Except not really? He does care about them tho, and the last thing he'd want is for one of them to end up like him.
-His relationship with clockwork definitely starts out pretty familial, after he becomes his assistant, anyway. There's room for that to develop into meddling minutes but I'm not entirely sure if I'm gonna go that route yet.
-The Danny's only ever hear his voice for a while before he finally let's them meet him for real, so they end up calling him Charlie for a while as a joke. Cause Ya know. Charlie's angels. Even after Charlie still ends up being his designated name on missions.
Mer! Danny:
-Was recruited bc a lot of the shit that gets sucked through natural portals ends up in a body of water somewhere and when that happens he's on call to retrieve it.
-Is Actually not at all ghostly! Mer Danny's situation is basically the plot of H2O (just add water), or if you haven't seen that, Aquamarine. And by that I mean he's only a merfolk in water.
-He's an electric eel
-His Jack and Maddie are marine biologists, with a particular interest in marine cryptids
-We're taking sea monsters baby!!!
-Not entirely sure how this Danny ended up half mer yet but I'll figure it out, lmao.
-14 years old
-His nickname/ designation is "Moray"
Crown Prince! Danny:
-Nickname/designation is Prince / Princey
-16 years old
-Not allowed to go anywhere in the zone without the Fright knight bc of some ancient ghost law bullshit, so he has a constant babysitter.
-He's next in line bc he sealed away Pariah, but can't take the throne until he is both, A) at least 18 years and B) Completely deceased
-Vlad is his Regent bc he did have a part in the whole sealing the previous king thing, but he's also not completely dead so his power is super limited there.
-As Prince Danny has the crown of fire in his ghost form, although now the name is kinda ironic seeing as it's completely frozen over. It's blue now and it smokes like dry ice.
-As Regent, Vlad has the ring of rage for "safe keeping"
-Vlad and Danny are pretty much constantly at each other's throats, fright knights probably had to shut down more than a few of Vlad's attempts to usurp the crown from Danny through combat.
-Princey deals with the timeline issues that involve the ghost zones' internal / political affairs, and he's gotten very well versed with dealing with the Observants.
Winged! Danny :
-15 years old
-Mallard duck wings
-His Vlad is a swan
-Comes from a family of waterfowl, Jack is a goose, and Maddie is a white swan. Both he and jazz are ducks bc of their grandparents.
-As Fenton his wings are white, like jazz, and as phantom they turn black with a green iridescent sheen.
-He's trans
-Nickname/ designation is inviso Bill. Bc ducks have bills haha get it-
-Ghostly wail?? Nah son he's gotta killer QUACK
-Absolute besties with Mer!Danny/ Moray, sometimes they go swimming together after a mission.
Clone! Danny:
-Physically he's a 12-year-old, but he's only been alive for a few months.
-Alt universe where Vlad manages to stabilize the perfect clone with his own DNA.
-Dani still exists, and the original danny from his time line also rescued the other problematic clones.
-Doesnt like the fact that he's a clone, and very much wants them all DEAD. Bc them running around is a reminder that he's not the real danny.
-Human half looks the same aside from the widows peak and the mallen streak. His ghost half takes after plasmius. Blue skin, and the Hazmat kept it's original white colors.
-Probably has fangs and a forked tounge.
-Not so much a member of the squad as he is someone that they need to be keeping an eye on.
-Does NOT get along with them.
-Dan enjoys making him uncomfortable.
-Designation is Masters / the brat (not to his face tho)
Family Breakfast AU! Danny:
-A BABY
-The boy is a fucking overpowered todler okay. He's an 8 year old.
-The biological son of his Vlad, was born a Halfa. Jack, Vlad and Maddie got their shit together and are in a healthy poly relationship.
-Got separated from Vlad one time in the zone and inadvertently adopted by the assistant squad and clockwork.
-His Vlad is aware of the squad and just. Dad's the crap out of the Danny's as a result. It makes for some..... interesting interactions.
-I can't think of a nickname so I'm just gonna be lazy and say he gets to be the one Tru Danny bc cute little kind privileges lmao.
Full ghost! Danny:
-15 years old, will always look 14.
-Nickname/designation is Toast
-Died in the portal accident and got fucking FRIED.
-He always smells like somethings burning.
-He's really bright and sorta sparks a bit, you can see his bones glowing through the hazmat.
-He still leave the zone to protect his version of amity, but lives with clockwork full time.
Canon Danny (NOT PHANTOM PLANET COMPLIANT) :
-Basically show Danny, except phantom planet never happened fuck you
-Joined the crew after the events of de stabilized
-Also he's trans fuck butch
-Franken! Danny
-Yall remember that Headless Danny Au? This is my take.
-Is Actually 20 years old, but physically stuck at age 14. Bc he's a walking corpse :)
-Came from a timeline that was directly parallel to Full ghost! Danny. He dies in the portal accident, but jack and Maddie are in the lab when it happens and manage to sort of bring him back using a combination of science and freaky ghost junk.
-So he's basically possessing/ stuck inside of his own dead body. Which, is thankfully not rotting or going into rigor mortis bc Ectoplasm is rather similar to formaldehyde, but he's not the most durable thing and bits and pieces fall off from time to time.
-Like his head. For example.
-He's pretty desensitized to it at this point and if he loses a leg after a ghost fight he doesn't see anything wrong with sitting down on the curb of a main street to stich it back on. His being dead isn't exactly a secret.
-Don't ever ask him to "give you a hand" bc he can and will not hesitate to pop one off and Chuck it at you.
-Said hand and any other body part will continue to function just fine even if it isn't attached to anything, btw.
-Nickname/ designation is Adam. Bc. Ya know. that's the name Frankenstein's monster gave itself.
Post Phantom Planet! Danny:
-A very jaded 22 year old who is driven only by spite and enough caffeine to kill a horse
-Very, very tired of the hero thing.
-Being a global celebrity isn't all it's cracked up to be.
-Decided to follow Vlads lead and fuck off to space for a while. Partially to get away from everyone and also partially bc he kinda feels responsible for the fact that the only other person like him and probably floating DEAD in the void somewhere? And yeah Vlad fucked up all on his own but what if he'd tried harder to get through to him things could have been different-
-Joins the crew after a natural portal opens up in space and decides to help out and use clockworks resources to try and track down his Vlad.
-Nickname/ Designation is Polaris, aka the north star.
Rubyn took the Boys over to talk about diplomacy, protocols, first contact - and all the other stuff you need to know when you're about to head off to space as a freshman Starfleet Cadet.
She also she explains the uniform colors and the roles they represent: - red indicating command and helm - gold for engineering, security, and operations - and blue for science and medical
Rubyn: "I didn't decide this lightly. You might agree that security is the most important, so I assigned Jack and Jeb, the two strongest, for this. They are also both great at engineering. Not less important is medical, and since Vlad and Kiyoshi are exceptional healers, this was quite obvious too. Leaves Sai and Ji Ho for command and helm. You'll have to work in shifts. Space does not know day and night, nor weekends. Two of you have always to be on duty at the bridge - at any time."
When she ended, they discussed some other matters about their missions. Sai asked if there are any wormholes they could use to catch up with Tiny Can - after they rescued B.D. He already has a lead of several weeks by now...
Rubyn: "I don't think he and whoever accompanies him went in a beeline through space. And even if, they had to stop somewhere. And they might even have reached their destination. The X-Wing only has a certain range where he could have dropped them off. And even though space is vast and seems endless out there, there are not as many inhabited planets as one might think. So rather than blindly chasing him, I'd suggest you investigate and find traces of them. Doing this, Albalehy's crew also found their lost member - even though he vanished in a transporter beam. You are a clever bunch, you'll find a way, I'm sure. And you can contact us anytime if you're facing a deadlock, hm?"
In the evening, their heads are about to explode from all the input. Vlad and Ji Ho went over to the cantina after dinner. Ji Ho still keeping his distance. They are still not comfortable around each other... Kiyoshi and Jack were already sitting on the bench. Doing their mates, just mates stuff - or whatever... Vlad and Jack didn't talk to each other at all after the Star Trek incident ö.Ö
Vlad looked briefly in Jack's direction - and Jack briefly looked back... Kiyoshi: "Talk to him, Ji Ho and I will wait inside." Jack: "I feel so bad for lying to him." Kiyoshi nudged Jack: "Tell him, hm?"
When Jack stood up and approached Vlad, he wasn't prepared and hissed. After their last quarrel, when Vlad tried to cut the Bond with Ji Ho and bond with Morgan instead, they hadn't talked for weeks!
Kiyoshi: "Let's go inside, Ji Ho." Ji Ho smiled. It was hard for him to see - and feel through the Bond - how much it hurts Vlad that Jack didn't tell him that he's a Trekkie. So he's glad Jack made the first step.
Jack: "I'm sorry I lied to you."
Jack took a deep breath in before he started to talk: "There's always so much going on around us. I didn't want you to think I'm not always by your side - and you hated Star Trek so much. I didn't want to be a traitor." Vlad: "It hurt more that you thought you needed to hide it from me. As if I weren't always with you and all the crazy stuff that's going on with you... I'm sorry that I wasn't able to make you trust me with this. I'll do better."
Jack: "Look how mature we are! That Therapy Game was so worth it, huh? I really thought you'd strangle and shake me until I came to my senses ö.ö" Vlad laughed: "I was close ^^'" Jack was happy they'd solved it so quickly - thanks to Tiny Can- and pulled Vlad in a hug: "I promise I wont keep any secrets from you anymore." Vlad: "And I promise I'll become more approachable so you don't have to be afraid to tell me anything." Jack felt he had Vlad pinned just where he wanted him for quite a while and he took his chance: "So, is this I'll-become-more-approachable approach a Jack thing or does that count for Ji Ho too?" Vlad tightened his grip around Jack for a second, this little rascal! Vlad: "I'll do my best to become more approachable for him too. Happy now?" Now Jack tightened his grip around Vlad - for much longer than a second: "I love you." Vlad, a bit breathless because Super Soldier Jack squeezed all the air out of his lungs: "I know. Now let go of me."
'Riding with the wind
When I'm sad she comes to me With a thousand smiles She gives to me free
"It's alright", she says It's alright Take anything you want from me (Take anything) Anything
Fly on, little wing'
Little Wing - Jimi Hendrix
Outtakes
As much as he might love Star Trek - it seems Jack wants some proper space suits too instead of pyjamas ^^'
DP au where Vlad is still evil, but Very Bad At It. To the point where he plays himself. For this to work, Vlad doesn't find out Danny is Phantom for a while. Some examples:
Possesses Jack @ Bitter Reunions, and ends up throwing him the wrong way repeatedly. The 'heroic' Wisconsin Ghost changes the Fentons' minds about ghosts, because it's interference saves Jack from a falling chandelier, a vat of sulfuric acid leaking, a wreck in the GAV, and because he had to get that broken arm checked out later, finds cancer- at a stage where it's completely operable, and saves his life. Again.
Kidnaps Jazz- he thinks he's kidnapped her from a date. To Jazz? "Mom, (name) wouldn't let me out of his car and kept trying to push me. But the Wisconsin Ghost saved me!"
Kidnaps Maddie...multiple times. Gives the whole 'you will marry me!' speech, but it's in Ghost Speak, so Maddie's just very confused. He ends up repeatedly dragging her to places where, coincidentally, people have gotten horribly lost in the woods, or injured, and now she thinks he's just super helpful & dedicated to saving human life.
"Renounce your father and join me!" Umm. "Is everything ok, Mr. Wisconsin Ghost?"... *thinks on all his failures, and how the Wisconsin Ghost is now known as a hero*... " no."
Plasmius: *unholy demonic screeching*
Maddie: Yes, ok, I know someone's in danger. Can you please just show me? The Ghost Gabber doesn't work, it keeps on saying you're making death threats, marriage proposals, and chanting that you're a Vikings Fan.
Plasmius: *horrified gasp*
Maddie: I know, you'd never hurt anyone- anyway, where's the danger?
Everyone thinks the Wisconsin Ghost and the mayor are dating, because they both moved to Amity Park at the same time.
Danny finds out about Vlad, and is delighted because hey- two ghost superheroes! Vlad is horrified at being called a superhero, and orders Danny to rob a circus. That circus is, of course, Freakshow's, and Danny ends up freeing all the ghosts and getting Freakshow arrested before he can hurt anyone. Vlad is lowkey dying inside.
Danny thanks him for giving him the courage to 'come out' to his family as a half-ghost. It doesn't take them long to figure out who Plasmius really is.
Ah-ha! Valerie hates ghosts, if he weaponises her, she'll be his evil henchman, and prove that HE. IS. EVIL!!!.... Through fighting with and talking to ghosts, Valerie comes to an understanding with them, and thanks him for 'empowering her to be the heroine of her own story', 'showing her the error of her ways', and 'enabling her to help him- and Danny- protect Amity Park and the world.' Vlad: *sobs in poor little meow meow*
Vlad kidnaps a few kids...and turns out, he rescued them. They were being abused. He's their hero.
Vlad: And I will make this town RUE THE DAY it-
Jazmine: Hey uncle Vlad, let's talk for a few minutes.
Vlad: NO
Jazmine: Please?
2 hours later, Vlad is sobbing into a teenager's shoulder, and Jazmine is screaming at her parents.
Vlad constantly tries to fight Danny. Danny, the OP bastard he is, thinks Vlad is trying to teach him via sparring. He's having a great time. Vlad is mourning the last shreds of his dignity.
Vlad and Jack rekindle their friendship- on accident (in Vlad's case), by mourning over feeling incompetent.
Society if class 1-A and class 1-B were friends since the beginning so instead of having little plots and problems you have around 30 kids ready to wreck havoc and kick asses.
“Wait, class 1-A is being attacked? GUYS TIME TO GO SUPPORT OUR BROS.”
“So Bakugo's been kidnapped and we have this rescue plan... And we're telling you guys because we know you still want to kick him for what he did at the sports festival so it's a golden opportunity to take sweet revenge!”
(they're just as worried and feel just as guilty as class 1-A, honest)
Imagine the combos they'd have. Toga obsessing with people on class 1-B too and Shoto being like “why if Toga is Vlad King's secret evil love child”. Hagakure is the one going low on the radar and passing the messages between the classes. They all have a group chat called "Operation: Replacing Grapes" and they're just discussing how to get Mineta kicked out of class 1-A so Shinso can join their chaotic club of heroes.
Horikoshi, coward, this was too powerful for you and we know it.
