Just a thought, but would you agree that the evil Master Monk Guan timeline confirmed that the main thing keeping Chase Young from gaining such a massive advantage over the Xiaolin side was his inability to truly work with other Heylin baddies, particularly Hannibal Roy Bean himself?
Yeah, I'd say so.
The biggest players on the Heylin side are ancient and very powerful. Dashi's team was able to match the Heylin's might back in the day, but after Dashi's passing and one of his teammate's defection, the power scale tipped firmly in the Heylin side's favor.
If the Heylin side all pooled that power together, then in the absence of Dashi's trio, nothing is stopping them from Evil World Domination.
Hannibal and Wuya are typically willing to work together towards a common goal, but Hannibal needs to attain power from elsewhere. The fallen monk Hannibal choses to try to make his muscle makes all the difference.
In fact, Hannibal would be the one that would need to spearhead this type of alliance, because no one else on the ancient Heylin side would really want to share the throne as their first option. And despite himself, Hannibal's bread and butter is still using people. He'll use that to play peacemaker among the villains when it suits.
Hannibal keeps his monk in line and Wuya has enough confidence in Hannibal needing her too much to cheat her out of this, that the alliance works. And in turn, Wuya needs Hannibal to keep his monk in line so she doesn't get sealed or de-powered again, which makes this a mutually assured destruction. Which makes for a stable enough partnership.
Chase is currently still feral when they all team up, but it wouldn't surprise me if, in a few centuries when Chase comes back to himself, Chase eventually personally tears apart this Heylin alliance, too.
In the alternate timeline, Hannibal is able to make Guan go along with him. And as they amass power, Hannibal probably eventually found a way to free Wuya (probably still makes Jack do it), and Guan is still subservient enough to Hannibal at that point that she'll work with them despite otherwise having reservations about working with any of Dashi's lackeys.
In the main timeline, Chase turns on Hannibal and seal him away in the Ying-Yang dimension shortly after he regained his senses from the Lao Mang Lone, so the main thing that would have chosen to capitalize on uniting the Heylin side is gone.
Chase also refuses to play nice with anyone on the Heylin side for the long term, or with anyone besides Omi, really. Which goes a long way towards sowing division between everyone else on the Heylin side too. There's already very little trust to go around among the villains.
A lot of the time, Heylin infighting is keeping the Heylin side more in check than the Xiaolin forces are.
Chase even personally dealt with the threat of Wuya coming back by taking away her main option of getting her powers back, which was way more effective in clipping her wings than the monks resealing her in an unlocked puzzle box. And Chase taught Omi how to get Sibini out of Clay's body so they could seal him before Sibini became an actual Heylin threat.
Chase even helped beat the spiders. And it didn't seem like this was the first time ensuring the world doesn't get destroyed, because this world is his to take over, and he doesn't want anyone messing with that's his.
In the interim between dragons, Chase and Guan are probably still what's kept this world standing, ironically enough.
Chase isn't by any means a good guy. But he's only interested in ruling as an apex predator. He's vain. He's cocky. There are very few people he's willing to stand by the side of at the top, and absolutely no one he's willing to stand underneath for it.
In his eyes, if Chase isn't ruling the world, no one gets to.
(He probably slipped up in the 80 year bad timeline because he was too distracted by Omi's disappearance to keep tabs on his Heylin competitor's power grabs.
And Jack, as the only other person whose been shown to recognize the potential in temporarily setting aside his differences with his Heylin competitors to amass power together, probably took the chance to pull a lot of power grabs in Omi's absence and then double-crossed them all. Including getting Wuya and Hannibal temporarily on his side too, since he's stolen Wuya's power and Hannibal's Moby Morpher at some point.)
tldr; if any Heylin besides Chase starts amassing power, Chase is more likely to squash that than the Xiaolin warriors are. He does not play nice with other villains.

Your theories about the Shen Gong Wu being sealed monsters with minds of their own make the Heylin Comet stuff make SO MUCH SENSE
Thank you! It really does make sense, I think. There's a lot of East Asian myths regarding monsters and magical creatures that have been sealed inside objects, so it makes logical sense. Especially with how they often behave with their own wills/minds in early episodes. So an outside magical force makes sense as affecting them if you consider it to be one of those types of events where a boundary becomes thinner/their vessels begin having less control over them.
Though I will clarify that I don't think every single one was originally its own creature. I believe that all of the components of Mala Mala Jong (Fist of Tebigong, Two-Ton Tunic, Eye of Dashi, Third-Arm Sash, and Jetbootsu, along with the Heart of Jong), were originally all parts of Mala Mala's original body, and cut apart by Dashi in the early days in order to split him up and seal away his powers and body with more success. Same with other Wu that have an intrinsic connection (Mosaic Scale and Monarch Wings being components of the original Sibini).

Sibini was using Clay's body to its fullest so they couldn't hope to overpower him by normal means, plus Kimiko was probably trying to avoid actually hurting Clay's body too badly
And Clay has very strong physical attack and defenses. They've also never seen him fight in an uninhibited way, and can't stagger him unless they outright exhaust the body to the point of being unable to move even if Sibini wills it (which they needed Chase's counter move to do effectively, since no one there has the power to overpower Clay except Clay himself)
But still, you gotta admire the moves Kimiko was pulling out in this fight just to try to get Clay back
That finesse, that firepower
The outfit in green and red that combines the colors of their two chis
Even came back right away when he knocked all the monks to the floor with even more desperation
This fight was hopeless, she didn't know how to overpower Sibini-Clay like this, but the fact that it was completely and utterly hopeless makes the emotions here hit even stronger
Even knowing that this method wasn't working, she was not going to give up on Clay, no matter what it came to

That's actually my headcanon for all of the Shen Gong Wu! Dangerous ones like the Sapphire Dragon and Sibini in the Mosaic Scale, plus the Heart of Jong that makes up the core of Mala Mala Jong, are the most obviously evil ones and seem to have no purpose other than causing trouble. But I believe that the Shen Gong Wu all contain some kind of spirit or monster that Dashi sealed away so that he could both contain them from causing chaos and use their power to help fight other spirits and monsters.
._. On the topic of creepypasta relating to Xiaolin Showdown…I just want to remind everyone of the Sapphire Dragon.
When we were kids, we all wanted to know what the hell Dashi was thinking when he made that thing. But like…what if he didn’t make it for that purpose? What if he made it to trap a vengeful spirit…and the spirit was so powerful that he had to seal the wu itself away? What if that’s why it attacks everyone? …why the hell am I asking these questions? Idek… Just thought I’d give you all something to think about.

Heeeeeeey, how about a Xiaolin community challenge? I just realized that there is no comprehensive list of all the Yin Yang bacground easter eggs hidden in every episode. So I'll start one, but I'll need your help to find them all. Please send me the episode and preferably timestamp along with the screenshot.
If you don't know what I'm talking about.
These shits, are hidden in the bg of every episode. This one specifically from the Sibini episode showdown. Not setting a good example but this is from a youtube video off the top of my head lol.

The Monarch Wings were always Sibini's and Dashi sliced them off and sealed them away separately?? Damn that's lowkey hardcore
That's my theory, anyway!
My theory is similar in regard to Mala Mala Jong! In my mind, Mala Mala is one of those classical types of Chinese mythological monsters/demons who gains power by consuming other creatures, humans and other magical being alike. Hence why Mala Mala has the unique ability to absorb other Shen Gong Wu into his being and use their powers all for his own.
By my theory, the only "true" components of Mala Mala Jong's body are the Heart of Jong, Helmet of Jong, Fist of Tebigong, Two-Ton Tunic, Eye of Dashi, Third-Arm Sash, and Jetbootsu. With the Heart of Jong containing the concentrated essence of his "soul", and all the others being pieces that made up his original body.
With how powerful he is even in the present day, my thought is that, rather than being able to seal home into just one item, Dashi had to whittle pieces off of him gradually overtime. Which led to the creation of all those different Wu from Jong's body, and finally sealing away his soul from all the rest. Starting with taking an eye, which he made into the Eye of Dashi, then working his way to the rest.

Fun fact I noticed about the title of "The Evil Within", it has a double meaning
It's referring to two evils within:
the physical evil currently possessing Clay, in the form of Sibini
the hint of evil (or at least moral grey) that Chase stirs within Omi when he begins their series-long mentorship in this episode

Chase already finds "possession" distasteful/lazy, I can hardly imagine how angry he'd be if Hannibal specifically possessed Omi...
Me too, anon. But one is certain: he would be seeing RED. If the monks wanted to team up with him to save Omi, I think he would even yell at them for their incompetence, which led to the possession of Omi in the first place.
And if this arc takes place after Raimundo gets promoted to leader, Chase would coldly state he's not fit for the position if he can't even keep the team together.
In normal circumstances, Rai would argue with Chase because he hates his guts. However, saving Omi is a top priority so Rai puts aside the grudge and tries to convince Chase to include them in his plan to defeat Sibini and Hannibal. (it takes a LOT of convincing btw. But Rai is good at coming up with a strategy so Chase reluctantly could admit he could use some of their help as a preventive measure. Bc both Rai and Chase know that the real target is Chase and if the monks helped it would create an element of surprise to their advantage or sth)

E: If you wrote a sequel to Bringing Down the Summit, what would it be about?
I have three prequel’s in the works for Bringing Down the Summit. They all just kind of slowly go back through time of Guan and Chase’s loose partnerships. They are 1) the Serpents Tail 2) The Black Beetle and 3) Sibini but, I’m not going to lie, if any other Wu catches my fancy or if I just want to make one up for fun their might be more in this story set.
As for a sequel though…all I can imagine is the kids going back to their temple and telling Fung about what happened and Fung going ‘I suppose it is time you learned these things’ and Fung sending them back to Guan for more training, much to Guan’s distress.
Guan, in a fit of petty annoyance at the fact that this happened and partially blaming Chase for this development might drag Chase into said training just because but Chase spends the whole time ignoring everyone else but Omi.

Not to be a salty Caroline but you know that episode where Kimiko accidentally got Clay possessed by a demon? That should’ve been the whole episode... and not suddenly cut away / lose prominence to Omi and Chase... again.
#Fandom chit chats#CJ being salty 2k19#Really though the whole Kimiko and Sibini plot disappears -#To focus on Omi and Chase -#And then Omi's the one who defeats Sibini while -#Kimiko more or less cleans up the mess afterwards -#Don't get me wrong -#That Omi and Chase plot line is important but -#You could've done that in another episode and not Kim's lmao -#She barely gets attention as much as it is -
