Pairings: MK9 Male!Sektor x Y/N, Male!Sektor x reader , AFAB!Reader

Trigger Warnings: SFW, mild angst, insecurities, social awkwardness, unrequited love?, Sektor being kinda edgy, cringe and dramatic (?), Not beta read.

Additional notes: First person POV from Sektor. The name “Hóng” was given to him by @bihansthot . Full credits to her (great naming choice btw.) , and I paid my “Bi-Han tax” in my last post here , if you're interested.

Sektor: [Narrating] I remember well the first time I tasted the sweet, strawberry-like flavour of the red honey my mother brang home in my childhood.

It was spring, but it was a particularly sunny day. Almost like summer. I still remember her smile while she spread the toasts with the crimson nectar. It was mesmerizing…

—Do you like it, Hóng? —

She asked, while giggling. I remember how shocking and different it was… The pungent, and tangy flavor sent an electric shiver from my spine, to my brain.

At first, I was disgusted.

But at the end, I found myself craving that last remnant of the sweet taste it left on my tongue. Magical, ethereal, and of course, ephemeral.

That day, I tasted love for the first time.

And whenever I see you running through the corridors of the Temples, smiling, your cheeks always red from exertion, I feel it all over again. That sweet taste lingers on my lips, even when I touch them, as I try to come back to reality once again…

None of the things I wanted make sense anymore. Not even working for the Cyber-Initiative. I cannot even concentrate. I even remember the last time my father asked for it.

—We need to see a preview of the project, your deadline is near. —

—Of course, Grandmaster…it will be delivered in a timely manner. —

I haven't written a single line of code since then.

—This is pathetic…—

I need to take a break, and I know I’ll eventually see you.

Or so I hope.

The project is taking longer than expected, and the trainees are slower to learn than usual. There are two missions this month. One where I have to lead, and the other one I have to make a team with Cyrax and Sub-Zero. The three of us should be heading north of Hubei at dawn.

It's her…again.

It's you.

Not now, when I have to leave.

— Yes, Cyrax. I’ll be heading there right now. —

While rubbing my temples in frustration, I can feel him leaving. I can see you drifting away in the distance…

— I am pathetic. —

I mutter. It's over now.

As weird and out there as Bi-Han/Sektor is, I still find it less offensive than Kuai Liang and Harumi.

Do you guys think Bi-Han and Sektor are legally married or in a common-law marriage?

I'm not sure because they don't really make it clear. And despite the circumstances, ever since Kuai Liang announced his marriage, I already imagined that Bi-Han would be in a relationship. After all, he is the oldest and legitimate heir of the clan. I really wasn't surprised that Bi-Han was already in a relationship. But although he isn't the biggest fan of traditions,

Not really related, but what about the irony of Tomas' statement? It's ironic because if the previous grandmaster had done everything by the book, he wouldn't even be a Lin Kuei since he's only a Lin Kuei because he was adopted and the Lin Kuei don't recruit outsiders or kidnap children like in the og timeline, they grow the ancient warrior clan, hundreds of years old, by having children among themselves and when they need more active fighters they promote warriors from Lin Kuei subclans scattered throughout Earthrealm to the main clan in Arctika. I really doubt that Smoke's mother and twin sister were the first people to be murdered for accidentally trespassing on Lin Kuei territory, anyway…

Bi-Han considers Harumi part of Kuai Liang's family, he just wouldn't weep if she died…

Something I like about Sekhan is the fact that Sektor could betray him at any time, since Bi Han has his absolute trust in her hands, and Sektor has the intellect and ability to manipulate others like when she manipulated Cyrax. If she wanted, she could have betrayed Bi Han. She could have let him die and taken the role as a Lin Kuei master, she could have taken advantage of Liu Kang when he left the clan at her disposal and turned her back on Bi Han, what's more, with the amulet she wouldn't even need it to get rid of the Shirai Ryu, being a one-person leader....

But no, Sektor preferred to rescue him, she could have turned her back on him like everyone else, but no. I like it because it proves that the character is not someone who has no love and loyalty towards others, because they could have resorted to making her the "treacherous bitch who doesn't care about anyone", and I'm glad they didn't do that again with him/her.

I think that decision is better, because it breaks with the expectations of what one would expect from Sektor, showing that she is loyal, that she can also defend and care for others while breaking with her egocentrism, that makes her different from the OG Sektor.

....Besides, it also breaks with the leaks of the game, in which it was seen that Sektor would betray him and it would be Sareena who would save him. To me it seems more interesting that it is Sektor who does it, because she is the only one who really loves him and accompanies him in everything and despite everything, neither the heroes nor the villains did that for Bi Han, therefore, who else will he give his loyalty to other than Sektor?

Let's just say i'm not that surprised thanks to the datamine, but i'm impressed with Noob Saibot. He looks so fun!

(also, committing to chaos, Ed Boon tweeted the intro 12 hours before releasing the trailer. So many have thought that Noob's trailer would drop next week, but noooo, agent of chaos doesn't follow orders)

Story-wise, i'm so happy when Noob/Bi-Han talks about desiring a different future, the scene shows him and Kuai Liang. Cause despite having the personality of OG Sektor, Bi-Han still cares about Kuai Liang, and he is doing his best to ensure a better future for him and the Lin Kuei.

Now i wonder if Bi-Han had approached Liu Kang with a proposal for the Lin Kuei's expansion, would the Fire God approve his wish or not 😂 Cause it sounds to me that Liu Kang doesn't mind the Lin Kuei to pursue greatness, only if they do it the right way, and not forget their oath.

Still no explanation about him and Sektor, but i guess it's platonic? I'm just glad his trailer isn't as sappy as Sektor's.

I'll be honest (and this is purely my own opinion and may change in the future), i'm not a fan of Sektor x Bi-Han ship, not out of jealousy, but because it's abrupt, just like Kuai Liang x Harumi (and potentially, if the datamine is true, Kuai Liang x Cyrax used to have a past).

"Here, have two strong, smart, prodigy, female Lin Kuei warriors -- oh just fyi we know they're gonna get so much hate, so we pair them with the popular characters to diminish the hate. Hmm? Personality? Character arcs? Not important!"

Hell naah, i want to see Sektor leading the Cyber LK and move forward with the cyberizations. I want to see more conflict that has a huge stake, not just "oh it's fine we can fix that with the timeline thingy". I want Cyrax to embrace her free will instead of joining the Shirai Ryu. I want Harumi (more Harumi please) to show why the Outworld knows her, and why she allows herself to be married to Kuai Liang and lets him lead the clan instead of her being the Grandmaster.

But anyway, Noob Saibot. Welcome back, my love 🖤

During Khaos Reign, I was so irritated by Kuai Liang because he was acting extremely OOC the entire time. Suddenly, he’s very temperamental and cold, which is different from how he is in the main game, where he’s more calm and warm.

Kuai Liang even went from acting like family is important to being fine with Bi Han dying. He blamed Cyrax for being manipulated and deceived by Bi Han despite leaving the Lin Kuei without an explanation. Kuai Liang held it over her head for most of the damn game and had her desperate for his forgiveness.

Overall, Kuai Liang was a royal pain in the ass the entire time. 

Well yeah, I actually also pretty much upset about his new demeanor in this DLC. But I can understand why he acted that way. He still mourned his father's death, his wedding day was ruined, and he was butthurted at his ex gf's oblivion. So I couldn't 100% blame him but I was also really disappointed in how he was now completely disowning his brother, unlike Kuai LIang in OG stories where he still doing his best to help his big bro from the darkness. And the way the revelation of Bi-Han and Sektor's betrayal also feels forced. So I was like..."What the hell?" So yeah...wasted potential.

Since they genderswaped Sektor and Cyrax only to be love interests, here's are my headcanons and I will live in that fantasy, I don't care

Sektor is still a man and still in love with Bi-Han (give us mlm cowards)

Cyrax is her own character and sister of OG Cyrax

Satoshi and Kidd Thunder would've been a part of the kombat kids smh. They had the potential to become full-fledged characters in the story. To me they were the og kombat kids (Frost probably counts too) before the mkx kombat kids came along. Can you imagine the new era kombat kids would consist of Frost, Satoshi and Kidd Thunder??

Giiirl!!! The potential this Kombat Kids Team carry is OFF THE CHARTS!

I've got a plenty of ideas on how this team would come to be in both the New Era and the Previous Timeline, so buckle up!!

New Era first:

Frost:

I strongly believe New Era!Frost will be basically Noob Saibot and Sektor’s kid, and they will raise her to be the next Sub-Zero!

@mikka-minns and I had the idea that if an Frost raised by a good guy turns out evil, a Frost raised by bad guys would turn out good (cause she likes to contradict her parents no matter the universe, lmao) so eventually Sub-Zero!Frost will join Kuai Liang's Shirai Ryu and there she will meet her teammates!

Satoshi Hasashi:

Following MK1 logic, Satoshi would still be related to either Harumi or Hanzo but not as their son.

Harumi would make some sense, as Hanzo's family is dead, but consider the scenario:

We don't know how Hanzo became an orphan in the New Era, but if it was through a massacre, it would be interesting if he got to save his baby brother, Satoshi, the same way Harumi saved her daughter in the MK2021 movie.

Hanzo would initially think he failed in saving him, only to find out he succeeded and now he's got his brother back with him in the Shirai Ryu!🥹

Deviating a bit from canon, you know MK1 Hanzo is a Netherrealmer to me, so imagine the same history, but settled in Netherrealm and now Satoshi is a Hellborn and a Pyromancer like his big brother!

Both Hanzo and Satoshi are trained to be Shirai Ryu and Kuai helps them both master their Hellfire!

Kidd Thunder:

Ok, I left Kidd Thunder for last cause I'm about to go wild!

You know how Raiden has a sister in the New Era and we all collectively assumed it would be genderbent Fujin? Hear me out:

Kidd Thunder is Raiden's sister!

I know Raiden and Fujin are the OG siblings and they are referencing the Japanese Mythology, BUT we can't hardly say the same about New Era Raiden. He is a regular dude who's powers come from an amulet! He is not the Thunder God Raijin or even our Thunder God Raiden. He's pretty much a new character with his own new lore. So here's an idea:

We know Raiden was afraid of being corrupted by his power and/or not being able to control all that power, so a solution he found was to share his power!

With the help of Liu Kang, he divided the Amulet in two and the power was split in two. The owners of the two halves would have to be on the same side and share their ideals, otherwise the Amulet wouldn't work.

Raiden gave the other half to his younger sister, and she was thrilled with the opportunity to leave Fengjian and become a hero!

She's heavily into superhero comics, so when she gets her powers she starts calling herself Kidd Thunder! Raiden thinks it's corny and unnecessary, but she loves it and everyone slowly grows fond to it so eventually Raiden gives in (Johnny is also heavily encouraging of her theatrics, and that's why he's her favourite, he gets her🤭)

Now to the Previous Timeline:

Satoshi Hasashi:

Imagine a world where Hanzo did keep his promise to Raiden and spared Bi-Han’s life, and in return, Raiden kept his end of the deal and brought the Shirai Ryu back!

Satoshi's grandparents were the Grandmasters of the Shirai Ryu, so the titles would be passed down to Harumi and Hanzo sooner or later, but as the two of them were the ones who took the reins and resettled the clan back to it's former glory, Harumi's parents decided they would take over sooner!

Satoshi's parents became Grandmasters Hummingbird and Scorpion and now it seemed expectations on him only increased! After all, he is the son of the clan's greatest warriors, the clan's saviours and leaders!

So Satoshi pushed himself to be the best! He learned how to emulate his father's Pyromancy through his mother's potions and became his generation's greatest warrior: the Firebird!

Frost:

Hanzo's decision didn't just affect his future, but also the fates of the entire Sub-Zero Family!

Since Kuai wouldn't have to worry about avenging Bi-Han, he could focus on the threat growing in his very backyard: The Cyber Initiative!

From within, he convinced not only his twin, Lisa, to runaway with him but also his adoptive siblings Tomas and Cyrax!

They found Bi-Han after the tournament and together they decided they would defeated Oniro and Sektor and reform the Lin Kuei!

Of course that wouldn't be an easy task and when Hanzo and Harumi heard of their situation, they offered shelter and resources! The siblings stayed in their home for a long time, but that was hardly a problem as they all had time to grow closer... some of them even closer, lol!

In gratitude, the siblings promised that once the Lin Kuei was theirs they would start an alliance with the Shirai Ryu!

Said and done, Kuai, Lisa and Bi-Han became Grandmasters and thus the most legendary clans of Earthrealm formed an alliance!

But the focus is not on the Grandmasters Subzero, but on their star student: Frost!

They found her when they were dismantling a Black Dragon fortress! She fought in their rings for the evil clan's amusement. She was extremely talented, and all siblings agreed all that talent was being wasted on that ring.

They set her free and brought her to the Lin Kuei, always reaffirming that she was free and could leave whenever she wanted but, if she choose to stay they would treat her like a person and help her properly develop her Cryomancy. She agreed!

With the alliance of the Shirai Ryu and the Lin Kuei officially settled, Frost and Satoshi finally met!

Kidd Thunder:

I'll keep Kidd Thunder as a girl cause I really liked the concept, but she has a very different origin here:

Unlike her New Era counterpart, this Kidd Thunder isn't a human, she's Lord Raiden himself! Well, a part of him!

Raiden wanted to learn what was like to be a human, but didn't want to risk leave Earthrealm vulnerable with his own vulnerability, so instead, he separated a part of his own soul and created a human being that would be able to fully experience... well, humanity!

Raiden used to simply call her "Raiden" as she is a part of himself, but his champions explained though she is a part of him, she's still her own individual and therefore should have her own name! Raiden understood and told her to pick a name and she chose Kidd Thunder!

She grew up with the Shaolin and spend most her childhood among Earthrealm's champions!

Years later, the Special Forces assembled a team of young warriors, the next Champions of Earthrealm, Kidd Thunder was the first to be called and there she finally met her teammates, Frost and Firebird!

I shamelessly tie-up this with my Divorced!Hanrumi AU cause I really liked that AU and wanted to develop on it!

You were calm and happy, it was a fairly normal day without complications, you were on your way back to deliver something, when you saw Tomas training. He looked so perfect and dreamy, his muscles glistening with sweat…

He sensed you and you were so fixed on him that you didn't see the rocks above you before you tripped and fell on the floor. The monochrome Lin Kuei approached you while laughing.

—So, you fell for me, do you need some help standing up, Y/n? —

You roll your eyes, take his hand and hug him in spite of you being ashamed of yourself for your own clumsiness.

— You love making fun of me, don't you? — you retorted, trying to salvage the awkward moment…

— I could hug you forever, princezna…—

You felt the rush of excitement go to your cheeks, the reddish tint covering your face. Tomas was about to take off his mask until someone interrupted you two.

— Hm– hmmm …— Bi-Han, the older cryomancer in the group, cleared his throat. — Stop fooling around with your woman Smoke! Get back on the training. —

— Yeah, Yeah… — Tomas replied lazily, and placed his forehead on yours — Don't mind Sub-Zero, he’s in a bad mood because he’s jealous. See you in my room. —

You two parted and you giggled a little about how nonchalant your boyfriend was. He was incredibly cheeky and flirty, but had his tender times…

Now let's go to the real Headkanons!! Hope you enjoyed the last interaction!!

Mortal Kombat Headkanon | Lin Kuei and Hugs.

"How would they hug their s/o?"

Kuai Liang/Tundra: He gives the longest, most heart warming hugs (ironically). It will feel as if there was nothing that could ever separate you both.

When he holds you in his arms, he feels invincible, you don't know how powerful it makes him feel to have you in his life.

If you look at him with love and adoration, he will give you a kiss on the forehead while embracing you. You look so lovely, he never wants to let go…

Cyrax: He would hug you very, very tightly, then lift you, and spin you around. He’s just so happy to see you! Right? It doesn't matter if he saw you five minutes ago, if he went on a mission, or had just come from training. He will always be very intense when displaying affection and showing love to you, his one and only.

Smoke: His hugs are very manly, he would pat your back. But not because he sees you as “One of the boyz (™)” lol! (Or well, not the only reason, if you're into that kind of thing), it’s because patting is fun for him, actually.

With time though, he will warm up to you, and he will want to linger in that position, holding you in what feels like forever…will gradually get more and more intense as the time goes on.

Sektor: NGL, his hug game is kinda lackluster and low, to be brutally honest with you. At first he doesn't “hug” you per se. It's more like he “holds you in place” with his hands on your arms. He gets better the more you know each other, but he is very distant and hesitant at first.

Bi-Han/Sub-Zero: You go and hug him with all your love and might, but he…doesn’t hug back? He’s so shocked that he lifts his arms, but it feels like he cannot, for the life of him, reciprocate.

Please have patience and be kind to him! He’ll eventually warm up to you! (Yes, pun was very intended, lol.). I promise he will give you the most tender hugs (He will also squeeze you a little on occasion), it's just he is not used to it (yet, the keyword is “yet”.)

Hydro: He will hug you as if he was protecting you from some unknown danger (Very firmly, he will never want to let go of you.) He takes your safety very seriously, and has made it very clear that he would die for you (Yeah, he’s a drama queen to be honest). Not exactly a cryomancer, so he has no chill (yes, pun intended. (?))

List of canon changes in my au.

So I did a post something similar to this one about how my au is different from the canon but this time it going to less structure and more rant like. I am not trying to compare my au to the neatherrealm timeline or trying to be a better writer than NRS just making an au for fun.

.Kind of a change to my au (I kind of forgot what I did previously with the timeline.) This follows the event similarly to the original timeline but only the arcade era and after that it sort of stagnates a little bit into being a fusion of mkx and deception but that not set in stone. Different factors from different timelines will be implemented depending on how much I like them.

.Kung lao is similar to his mk1 counterpart but more humble

. Raiden is more based on the 95 movie raiden and dotr raiden

.Kenshi joined the special forces much earlier and did so out personal reasons with his mother side of the family being held captive by the black dragon through the yakuza

.Kenshi has his Eurasian background from the og timeline

.Johnny and Sonya are married permanently. The did just get married because Sonya was pregnant but the did fall in love while having Cassie. It was messy trying to raise her as either had any experience dealing with kids but they learned along the way

. Frost real name here is Holly (yes I know that not her canon name this is canon changes to an au and yes I know the name is stupid and lazy but I busy with homework and job hunting so cut me some slack)

.Frost does compete in underground fighting but there not hosted by the black dragon and there no to the death fights

.Johnny , Sonya and Liu Kang are all closed friends (there still the first fighters for earthrealm) who hang out a lot of the time. Johnny enjoys dragging Sonya and Liu around Hollywood, Sonya acts like the one in charge and makes sure the boys aren't in any trouble and Liu is the peacekeeper and makes sure neither Johnny nor Sonya are overly stressed out

.Syzoth currently in the story appears reptilian up until the outworld's invasion where he gets stranded in earthrealm and has to take a human disguise

.Mileena is a clone but unlike her original counterparts, after multiple arcs that I have not even begun to write out yet, they Kitana accepts her as her sister

.Jerrod is inside of Ermac but he never takes control of the collective and is more like Ermac conscience guiding him into specific decisions like protecting Kitana

.Wraiths appear more human the more time the spend out of the neatherrealm but wraith like appearances will show up if there distress or with highten emotions

. Just like in mkx Erron Black is an immortal cowboy who travels all over the realm and is currently the only person besides raiden to hop onto different realms though he not will the share that information with anybody.

. Instead of Suarians originating from earthrealm and moving to zaterria, it the opposite way around with them being originally from zaterria but after outworld invade fleed to earthrealm and hid refugee underground. As the stayed in earthrealm, the evolved to become more versitile in shapeshifting to a point where they can mimic powers which leads to the creation of Khameleon

To those too obtuse to understand me. ~ Bi-Han [Sub-Zero] to Syzoth [Reptile] MK1.

I think most people aren't paying enough attention to Bi-Han's nuances because of their own frustrations with specific traits/situations that make up his character (especially because of the way Bi-Han treats Tomas and how most characters despise Bi-Han's actions), but I admire you, @evilbihan and @inflamedrosenkranz, and @cienie-isengardu, and all those who make the slightest effort to understand the character. You are in the minority that highlights these nuances and I think this is so necessary, because I really don't understand how so many people see Sub-Zero Bi-Han from MK9 and Mythologies who barely had lines or interaction with other characters as deeper than Bi-Han Sub-Zero from the Liu Kang Era that got multiple interactions, diverse relationships and much longer story mode time.

Also, I think it's funny to see people saying to this day that Bi-Han Sub-Zero from previous timelines was neutral and now he's like a cartoon villain, as if the old one was somehow more noble than Bi-Han from the Liu Kang era, when all the og Bi-Han did in the past was spare Sareena because she was the only one who BEGGED him not to kill her (after he had already killed 2 demons, his rival Scorpion and more a couple of people to complete the mission) and tried to reverse the actions that the success of his mission would entail after Raiden told him to do so (otherwise, he would die. His realm would be destroyed by his client Quan Chi). Also, Raiden confirmed that his soul was indeed tainted with evil (like, he had a kind of predisposition to end up in Netherrealm for doing bad things and somehow enjoying it).

However, at no point does Liu Kang, the god and creator of Bi-Han in MK1, says that Bi-Han has a "evil heart" or that his soul is tainted with evil as Raiden told him in previous timelines. Other characters who barely know him and know nothing about his and the clan's life before he abandoned the duty imposed by Liu Kang, judge him and judge the things he does as evil without even knowing the reason behind it (and let's be honest, if all the supposed lives that Bi-Han's actions in the hope of elevating the clan cost were taken at the behest of Liu Kang, the same people who judge him would be applauding. As if some lives were worth more than others…).

And unlike Tomas, that mission at the Ying Fortress was not Bi-Han's first and the battle he missed to free Shao from prison in OutWorld would not have been his first battle either.

Those deep frustrations that Kuai Liang said he knew Bi-Han had, but that he never imagined that Bi-Han would accept the first offer that came along to escape them…

Tomas [Smoke]: Letting Father die… Forsaking Earthrealm? He's abandoned all reason! Kuai Liang [Scorpion]: I knew Bi-Han's frustrations ran deep. But I never thought they could inspire such madness. We can't let his corruption spread.

Did he really never imagine this could happen? Or did he just ignore what Bi-Han felt? What he used to say? And how his brother wasn't the only one who felt that way…

Tomas [Smoke]: What are you doing? Once he's exposed, won't you be made Grandmaster? Kuai Liang [Scorpion]: You forget Cyrax and Sektor. Their loyalty to Bi-Han is absolute. They'll sooner abet his corruption than follow me.

Liu Kang says he abandoned his family and some people say he betrayed his brothers, while in fact Bi-Han offered more than once the opportunity for Kuai Liang and Tomas to join him, but they declined his offers of peace because they did not agree with his vision (and they were bitter because Bi-Han had let their father die, I know I know).

All Bi-Han wants for the clan is a better future and he did what he thought was necessary to achieve it. He would like to share a prosperous future with Kuai Liang (and Tomas, even though he probably prefers Tomas to keep his mouth shut and his enthusiasm for tradition and his "father" to himself), but he was rejected. They are the ones who abandoned him first.

Bi-Han [Sub-Zero]: End this, brother! Embrace the future. Kuai-Liang [Scorpion]: I want no part of it!

Sub-Zero: Heed your Grandmaster! Scorpion: I will not betray our principles.

Sub-Zero: Your rebellion stings. Scorpion: You expect less from Scorpion? Sub-Zero: You could have ruled at my side. Scorpion: Just the thought of it sickens me.

Sub-Zero: I've gained the Lin Kuei's freedom. Smoke: You've only earned them infamy.

Sub-Zero: Resist me, and there will be consequences. Smoke: And to think I once idolized you.

Smoke: I rejected the Lin Kuei to fight for justice. Omni-Man: Justice? How stupidly self-righteous of you.

Bi-Han will not stop pursuing a better future for the Lin Kuei to please Kuai and Liu Kang, because the Lin Kuei is what matters most to him. And I'm really glad that leaks clearly show that Bi-Han was and still is an anti-hero (aka not conventional hero). And I'm not talking about og Bi-Han and his victory over Fujin and Quan Chi, I'm talking about Bi-Han from MK1 who more than once has already put his own life on the line to defend Earthrealm and will continue to defeat anyone, including gods, to defend the people he loves.

He has his own agenda, but even Liu Kang recognizes that it's not an evil one, but as we all know, Bi-Han has been walking crooked to achieve this. I'm not going to delve into how his mother may have influenced his life and the decisions he made or how the supposed not-so-great relationship he had with his father motivated him to do what he did, but there is no shortage of hints that his parents were an important part in the formation of his character (as parents are in the life of anyone who has/had them...),

Sindel: Both your parents were excellent fighters. Kuai Liang [Scorpion]: I can only hope to live up to their example.

Bi-Han [Sub-Zero]: My father was a fool to follow you. Liu Kang: He wisely honored Earthrealm with his service.

Tomas [Smoke]: If Mother were alive… Bi-Han [Sub-Zero]: She would applaud my actions.

I just want to say thanks to anyone who is interested in the nuances of Bi-Han and as much as I don't like certain attitudes of Kuai Liang and Bi-Han, I hope that one day Kuai accepts Bi-Han for who he is, not who he would like him to be, and that Bi-Han gets what he wants in the least destructive way possible. I know, a fighting game needs conflicts, but Bi-Han's connection with Kuai was and will always be eternal. Blood connection is an understatement.

Raiden: I never thought *you* would betray Earthrealm. Sub-Zero: My only loyalty is to the Lin Kuei.

To be fair, NRS can't handle their straight ships either. Like, let's look:

Liu Kang x Kitana - basic at best and bland at worst. Kitana has more chemistry and sexual tension with her best friend than she does her supposed soulmate.

Jade x Kotal - passable. But this pairing was so out of left field and the writers knew it too. So they tried to be slick by shoehorning in that weak-ass "they knew each other in the past" excuse.

Mileena x Reiko - toxic and abusive. But it did highlight how Mileena treats physical and sexual validation as equivalent to love, as well as how truly love-starved she was.

Skarlet x any guy - guaranteed to be toxic or abusive in some way. Plus I continue to side-eye MK11 for attempting to ship her with Shao Kahn (her abuser and unfortunately adoptive father). Like why. Why was that necessary.

Bi-Han x Sareena - this one is personal for me. Their story during the OG Midway era was so intriguing and had a lot of promise. I love a "redeeming one's self through helping another" story and their story hit all the right beats for me. But in this current timeline? They cooked them. Look at what they did to my girl Sareena. They completely wasted her as a character.

Jacqui x Takeda - god,this one hurts. They were my one "straight ship so good that the gays ship it" ship circa MKX. They were so cute and the puppy love was palpable. Then Jacqui's MK11 ending happened. Sis, are you not engaged? Why didn't that come up when she decided to erase herself from history? (insert something here about women having to lessen themselves for men to succeed)

Johnny x Sonya - same issue as Liu and Kitana. Bland as shit. MKX was their most interesting run. Sonya would have never married Johnny if she hadn't gotten pregnant. Sad to say it,but it is what it is.

(The fact that there's this many more or less canon straight ships, but the one singular queer pairing that debuted circa 2015 is enough to set people off really says a lot about how far we still have to go.)

People till this day will deny Taleena. They've been canon for almost a decade. It's just now, in mk1, it's not as discreet. Everyone knows they're bumping purses, but NRS isn't going full force with it. They wrote their relationship to be secretive and scandalous.

(I know damn well Mileena changed those umgadi rules the first day she was empress.)

Also, can we talk about how weird it was that they had Skarlet have some obsession over Shao khan and wanted to be his empress? I love Skarlet, but her writing, specifically that shit is so weird and unnecessary, like you said. Not every character has to be interested in another character, especially like that. Who the fuck writes that, goes over it multiple times and think, "Yeah, this is good."

I also had high hopes for Bi Han x Sareena in mk1. Very disappointed. I don't usually care for straight ships, but this one had potential, and the fact that they're both in mk1, I thought they would proceed with this ship in the new timeline.

I love Jacqui x Takeda, too. Justice for them. Honestly, if they had more time, they'd probably be the best straight ship in Mortal Kombat.

Hanzo x Harumi- Harumi dies (and then the only timeline she alive, Kuai is scorpion)

Kenshi x Suchin- Suchin is dead. Not much is known about their relationship (in mk1, she's mentioned in a few intros. Seems like they used to be something)

Nitara x Erron Black- happened off screen

Shao Kahn x Sindel- Sindel was retconned in mk11 to be as evil as Shao Kahn. Originally, she was forced to marry him. She offs herself to get away from him.

Sindel x Jerrod- They always loved each other until mk11 retcon. Mk1 kind of gave us more content. They definitely love each other in this timeline. It sucks that they're both dead.

Sektor x Bi han (mk1)- genderbent Sektor to make a straight ship.

Kuai Liang x Cyrax (mk1)- genderbent Cyrax to make a straight ship.

Kitana x Raiden (mk1)- Basically liutana.

Ashrah x Syzoth- I don't hate it, but I think they need better development if they continue with this ship in the future. Cause in storymode, Syzoth was depressed and mourning his family. Suddenly him and Ashrah are together? Idk, but if I had just found out my wife and son were murdered and realizing all the shit I did to keep them alive was for nothing, I wouldn't be jumping into a relationship. I just think this ship needs more time to develop. It happened too quickly.

Thoughts on Bi-Han and Ermac's interaction.

Bi-Han: Surely you have a weakness.

Ermac: You have many. We have none.

Hmm maybe i'm reading too much into it, but when Ermac mentions Bi-Han having many weaknesses, i got a feeling he means the Lin Kuei.

All that Bi-Han does is for his clan, and it says a lot that the LK trust him without question. Kinda makes sense why Kuai Liang decides to abandon the LK cause there's no talking about it with them, and they all won't believe him or share the same side as him anyway, cause they all believe in Bi-Han. Maybe they're all that fed up being under Liu Kang's authority, or maybe they believe they deserve smth better, freedom to be who they are, after centuries + generations of protecting Earthrealm.

Ermac: The Lin Kuei fight as one?

Bi-Han: With me as their heart and mind.

Also, i may be reaching out lol.

What if what he means by him being the heart and mind is both figuratively and literally? Like, Bi-Han is going full Cyber Initiative, perhaps more like OG Sektor, commanding the LK under his order.

If that's the case, well... NRS give Sektor's story to Bi-Han. This is just my hc + speculation, but if the Cyber LK is only under Bi-Han's authority, then if he 'falls', so will the majority of the LK members.

And later on if, IF, Bi-Han gets a redemption arc and becomes UoL Bi-Han, that explains why he's not wearing any LK insignia; there is no more LK thanks to his little Cyber Initiative.

So it could be:

1. A small number of LK members survive and they get a new Grandmaster, or

2. A small number of LK members survive and they are waiting for Bi-Han to return, or

3. None of the LK members survive, or

4. The LK is rebuilt anew as an extension of the Shirai Ryu

Ehh idk pure speculations, like we might get Bi-Han commanding an army of mech-suits dubbed the Cyber Lin Kuei 🤷‍♀️
