Sektor looking at Bi-Han like she's going to beat the shit out of him when they get home still makes me wonder…

Is Sektor really submissive?

There is evidence that she is, but there is also evidence that it is not like that…

Recently I noticed that Bi-Han looks at Sektor when she walks away. The first time I saw it I thought he was looking at the kamidogu box, but he only looks up when Sektor walks away from him and then looks down again when she stays, just to look at her again before Liu Kang called him out to talk about Havik. As if he feared she would leave him alone...

She holds him so tight here. And she's not hurt when he breaks free, she's shocked that he didn't obey her. As if she expected him to. As he would normally do, If he wasn't so raging mad…

I mean, she respects and admires Bi-Han as Grandmaster and the man she shares her bed with and loves, but she also calls out his foolishness, has a say in whatever they do, she is not passive, she knows when to draw the line and impose her authority, and does not consider any man worthy of the submission that Reiko gives to Shao (which includes Bi-Han)…

I don't think the position she prefers in bed with Bi-Han really matters, but I don't believe she actually pays reverence to Bi-Han like she does at the beginning of the story mode expansion. I think that was just part of their act to deceive Cyrax. And their relationship is pretty equal (or maybe not).

Another thing that I didn't notice at first is that Bi-Han is the one who pulls Sektor closer after she helps him sit up. Small things like these, like him reaching out his hand waiting for her to hold it and help him, make me wonder if Sektor isn't the strong and dependable one in their relationship…

Christmas with the Lin Kuei 🎄

(NOTE: I don't personally believe that the Lin Kuei celebrate Christmas because I headcanon that religion isn't allowed within the clan. The mindset of clan before blood also negates the whole family aspect of Christmas. HOWEVER I am making an exception for this list 🤍)

Y'all... this man is not a Christmas hater (LET ME EXPLAIN)

Does he love Christmas? No. The fact of the matter is that Christmas happens during his favorite time of year: winter. Anything that happens in cold weather is decent in his eyes

He enjoys gift giving, especially when it's for Sektor and Sareena. Naturally he is a very observant person, so seeing the look of excitement on his significant others' faces when he gets them exactly what they wanted makes him happy

He's not really into all the family fun that's supposed to occur during the Christmas season (this man is NOT making a gingerbread house). He'd rather curl up near the fire and read a Christmas book (he enjoys A Christmas Carol because of the ghosts) with the people he cares about

DO NOT sing Christmas carols around him. DO NOT ask him to make it snow inside. He will actually lose his mind.

🔥 Kuai Liang 🔥

Kuai Liang is a Christmas enjoyer. He has a lot of positive memories associated with the holidays from when he was younger (playing with Harumi Shirai in the snow, decorating the Lin Kuei Palace with colorful candles)

Baking is one of his favorite Christmas traditions... Though he is an absolute fire hazard in the kitchen. He always ends up with burnt Christmas tree cookies that he absolutely smothers in frosting

Since Tomás has difficulties around the holidays, Kuai Liang goes out of his way to help him feel cheerful by including him in activities. They've spent lots of time doing childish things like building snowmen or decorating a tree in the forest with homemade decorations

Last minute wrapper. Motherfucker is awake the entire night on Christmas Eve trying to wrap all the gifts he got. He is often exhausted on Christmas morning... And some Christmas' he doesn't wake up before noon

When he moved to Japan to establish the Shirai Ryu, he took several of his old Christmas decorations with him. He hasn't touched them since

💨 Tomás Vrbada 💨

Tomás has... a complicated relationship with Christmas

On one hand, he has so many positive memories (both secular and religious) with his birth parents and sister during Christmas time... On the other hand he has so many positive memories of people that are no longer in his life

Regardless of how he feels, he tries really hard not to let his upsetment show. Whenever Kuai Liang asks him to bake with him or to build a snowman, Tomás always says yes. He doesn't want to bring anyone else down because of him

Tomás likes to watch Christmas cartoons like Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph the Red Noses Reindeer. His absolute favorite Christmas cartoon is The Year Without A Santa Claus. He relates to how depressed Santa is.

Though he typically tries to avoid Bi-Han during the holiday season (why get kicked while he's already down?), sometimes he'll ask if he can sit with Bi-Han while he's watching a Christmas movie. That's the most time that they spend with each other without yelling at each other the whole year

⚙️ Sektor ⚙️

CHRISTMAS. HATER. An absolute Scrooge

There were too many times in the past where she was let down by her mother and father during Christmas time, so now she just hates everything associated with the season

She locks herself in the Armory, working on things she doesn't need to be working on in order to distract herself. She barely sleeps, she barely eats, it's mildly concerning how consumed she is by her work

Bi-Han recognizes that Sektor needs her space and tries to respect that as much as possible, but he still gets worried when she doesn't leave the shop for more than a week. Sareena will go into the Armory and pester Sektor all day, asking questions about different Christmas things until Sektor kicks her out

The only day that Sektor is somewhat present is Christmas Day. She will go sit with everyone while they open gifts, sipping her coffee as she soaks in as much of the moment as she is emotionally able to

🐝 Cyrax 🐝

Cyrax likes both the religious and secular aspects of Christmas. She is a Catholic, so she sets up a little nativity scene in her room every year

Being from Nigeria, she has a lot of traditions that she brings into the Lin Kuei from the Zaki. One such tradition is going on an annual hunt and competing to see who can kill the largest animal within an allotted time. The winner is blessed with good luck for the upcoming year and their catch is served at Christmas dinner

Kuai Liang LOVES this tradition and competes with Cyrax yearly. He has yet to beat her. In fact the only person that was able to beat Cyrax's time and kill was Sareena, who managed to bring down an Ice Beast within ten minutes

When Cyrax and Kuai Liang dated, they spent a lot of time walking in the woods and looking at all the tracks in the snow. This was also an excuse for Cyrax to cuddle close to Kuai to stave off the cold

Will often join Kuai Liang in his quest to cheer up Tomás, but she is also very aware of if Tomás is not in the mood and will back away. She often has to remind Kuai Liang to not be too forceful when he's trying to help

😈 Sareena 😈

LOVES CHRISTMAS!!! I mean, who wouldn't after being trapped in the NetherRealm with a perverted old Sorcerer for centuries?

She especially loves to decorate the palace in bright lights. Instead of using candles, she wants to go to the store and buy actual electric bulbs (not realizing that the Lin Kuei palace doesn't have electricity... But Sektor would figure out a way to make them work). She spends time untangling the lights every year and gets tangled up every time

She has a lot of questions about Christmas. "Who is Santa Claus? How does he see us when we're sleeping? Is he a sorcerer? How does he fit down the chimney? How does he not set himself on fire when he's in the chimney and the fire is lit?..." Bi-Han started ignoring her after continuously answering her questions for three hours

Is addicted to eggnog and actually enjoys Kuai Liang's burnt cookies

She's very bad at gift giving. One year she gave Bi-Han and Sektor each a dead rabbit. She didn't wrap them either, so their chamber smelled really bad for a couple of days and Sektor and Bi-Han had no idea what was causing the smell. Meanwhile, Sareena's looking mischievous in the corner and thinking "Hehehe they'll never guess what their gifts are! ;)"

Oooh this might be a controversial take (for the bireena community maybe) but I feel like I need to get it off my chest

I don’t ship sekhan, I feel like that is completely obvious, but-

I didn’t want bireena in khaos reigns either (even before it came out and sekhan became canon)

At most, I wanted them to meet, try to kill each other maybe, have no choice but to team up, and then leave off on a cliffhanger on what the future could hold. LIKE that was it. No romance yet, maybe not even an official friendship, just obscurity to set up their future.

I feel like we’re still at a point where Bi-Han needs to make a lot of personal growth first. The last thing I want him doing is putting his nasty unredeemed hands anywhere near my precious SAREEEENNNAAAA!! If they were to interact at any point in future games or kombat packs, I want the focus to be on redeeming the two (mostly bi-han) cause at the end of the day, I am a Bi-Han fan first, bireena fan second. I will even take it if they just end up as friends if that means he can finally redeem himself and not go down the constant path of evil and being someone’s side-kick.

From my time on twitter I’ve noticed the constant need of some bireena fans to attack sekhan and complain that we didn’t get bireena, which is fair they’re allowed to do that, but I think that’s genuinely the wrong way to look at this whole situation. I mean, if you wanna think in context to how Bi-han acts/ presents himself in this timeline, I actually think he and sektor make perfect sense. He doesn’t like people disagreeing with him and sektor is basically the embodiment of an enabler/ loyalist. OF COURSE, he’d be down for that (which is not to say I like sektor’s writing either, I wanted her to betray Bi-Han and push her own image onto the Lin Kuei). But I think the point of putting him with her (though I don’t want to give NRS any writing credit yet) is to show how messed up his mind is and how he goes for the wrong methods to get what he wants (like liu kang said).

I know we shouldn’t exactly take the Johnny cage announcer voice as canon but I feel like everyone is missing the “future” part in “bi-Han’s future bestie”. They still haven’t even officially met if you don’t count him kicking nitara’s ass at the Ying fortress. If they had gotten together in khaos reigns it would’ve been just as bad and poorly written as sekhan. If you wanna attack sekhan and call it forced because her entire story revolves around a man then you need to also keep in mind that if Sareena had been written as a romantic interest to Bi-Han in khaos reigns it would be the exact same thing. Sareena still has her own soul to redeem and her own past to confront. The last thing she needs is to be with a man that has all the mental maturity of a group of middle schoolers who frequent Hot Topic.

(This portion is my own headcanoning and how I want them to meet, I’ll mark where it ends)

As stated before, I think the main priority should be Bi-Han and Sareena focusing on their redemption arcs if they are to interact with each other in the future. Bi-Han needs to see the error in his ways of thinking and let go of his pride. Sareena needs to see she’s more than just an underling to Quan Chi and break free from his control. If anything, I think the best way to approach this is to maybe bring up MK Mythologies again and have them meet through that. Maybe Bi-Han gets betrayed and gets stuck in the netherrealm and has no choice but to spare a life (Sareena’s) and relies on her to help him get out. That way it would teach him the value of mercy that he didn’t understand in Khaos Reigns. And from there I think in terms of Sareena’s story she sees someone with a tainted soul and feels some empathy about that. Helping him to redeem himself- to her- would be like a way of helping her understand that no soul is too far gone and she herself can be redeemed and help others.

As far as how he would act after being “redeemed” I can’t exactly tell you how I think he would act, especially since he’s not really the apologetic type. But maybe an interesting route he can take is Kuai Liang’s old role in the previous timelines. He’s seen how fa pride can take you and how destructive it is. That way he’s the perfect perspective to redo/ remodel the Lin Kuei. Kuai Liang seems too focused with the Shirai Ryu this time around so if anyone should be redeeming the Lin Kuei it should be the guy who has taken the most mental and physical damage from being a part of it. And from that little plot line, the Shirai Ryu and the Lin Kuei can make peace with each other.

Again, THIS DOESN’T HAVE TO BE ROMANTIC FOR BIREENA. I’m more than happy if they’re just friends in the end. I just want some sort of redemption and closure for them for ONCE! They’ve been subject to so much heartbreak and evil in previous timelines, they deserve better than this one dimensional writing.

I know this may all come off as hypocritical coming from me, the most frequent poster in the bireena tag 😂, but keep in mind the type of content I post. I VERY CLEARLY do not take myself or my art very seriously and most of my art is comedy based. So before you sharpen your pitchforks and sum me up as just another bireena artist, just know I draw what entertains me the most and I’m usually not serious about it.

Do I still want bireena? Or course I do. I just don’t want it NOW. I’m willing to wait- I don’t want forced/ rushed writing on a ship I’ve devoted myself to for the past year.

Not really related, but what about the irony of Tomas' statement? It's ironic because if the previous grandmaster had done everything by the book, he wouldn't even be a Lin Kuei since he's only a Lin Kuei because he was adopted and the Lin Kuei don't recruit outsiders or kidnap children like in the og timeline, they grow the ancient warrior clan, hundreds of years old, by having children among themselves and when they need more active fighters they promote warriors from Lin Kuei subclans scattered throughout Earthrealm to the main clan in Arctika. I really doubt that Smoke's mother and twin sister were the first people to be murdered for accidentally trespassing on Lin Kuei territory, anyway…

Bi-Han considers Harumi part of Kuai Liang's family, he just wouldn't weep if she died…

Do you think Bi Han's father and Madame Bo might have been against their relationship in their youth? They hate their father and mother so much.🫠🫠🫠

Although Madam Bo opposes Sektor and Bi-Han's relationship now. I don't think Madam Bo had any reason to oppose her daughter's relationship with Bi-Han before he abandoned his duty to protect Earthrealm, betrayed Earthrealm by freeing Shao from prison, and used the Lin Kuei to support Shao in battles in the rebellion of his forces in OutWorld…

General Shao: I owe you nothing, Bi-Han. Sub-Zero: You would still be in prison, were it not for me!

Baraka: Your attack will be avenged. Sub-Zero: I thought your kind welcomed the release of death.

Kitana: You'll never be welcome in Outworld. Sub-Zero: Perhaps after a change in regime.

If we follow the chronological order of events in the new Mortal Kombat lore, Mortal Kombat 1, we can see that Madam Bo had a good relationship with the Lin Kuei even though she had not been a Lin Kuei for a long time….

And according to what she herself says, she has trained Kung Lao and Raiden since they were boys and saw them born, besides considering them as sons she never had. Even though Sektor has siblings (it can refer to brothers, sisters, or a combination of both. Most likely a combination of both in this case) that everything indicates are from her father's second marriage...

...or Longwei cheated on Madam Bo.

Sub-Zero: Your siblings must do more. Sektor: They will honor their commitments, Bi-Han. I swear it.

Taking into consideration that according to Tomas' ending, he lived with the Lin Kuei for 15 years. And that according to his bio, he was adopted when he was still a boy, but he was already capable of hunting (he was not a small child, but more likely a boy between 10~12 years old). And since according to the dialogues between Sektor and Smoke, Sektor was Smoke's Master, therefore she must be about 10 years older than him (at least)…

Sektor: I taught you obedience, Tomas. Smoke: It can't be blind, Sektor.

Smoke: Today the student becomes the master. Sektor: You will not best me, Tomas.

Sektor must be around 35~37 years old and Smoke 25~27 years old. And knowing that Kung Lao and Raiden, from the dialogues without much politeness, they must be close in age to Tomas…

Madam Bo left her clan, her daughter, her family and her legacy as a Lin Kuei warrior leader behind, when Sektor was still a teenager. And apparently on a mission ordered by Liu Kang, since he is the one who asks her about his future champions (if they were ready because she trained them since they were boys etc):

Sektor was deprived of contact with her mother since adolescence. And although her father has a good relationship with Bi-Han and has been close to Bi-Han's family for many years, since Bi-Han even knows about her father's dreams…

There is nothing in the story mode, bios, endings or intros that indicates that Bi-Han and Sektor have had a close relationship since childhood or adolescence. But more precisely, everything indicates that their relationship began when:

A- She became young Tomas' master, when she and Bi-Han were already over 20 years old, she actually started to frequent the Lin Kuei palace where the Grandmaster and his family reside to mentor Tomas. Thus, really getting close to Bi-Han and both developing feelings for each other.

B- They became close after her father retired and she took his place as Master Armorer. Considering that Bi-Han let his father die just to become Grandmaster faster, while Sektor actually waited for her father to decide to retire to take his place. Just as the deceased Grandmaster was close to the Master Armorer, Bi-Han stayed close to Sektor's father until Sektor took his place. And the expected closeness between the Grandmaster (leader of the clan) and his Master Armorer (leader of the Armorers of the clan) escalated to the level of romance because they both shared interests, beliefs, ideals, were attractive and single.

I'm inclined to believe in alternative B.

So, even if Sektor and Bi-Han have been in a romantic relationship for years (which I believe they have been, but not since childhood/adolescence because her bio contradicts this assumption) and Madam Bo is against their relationship now, there is nothing that points to Madam Bo as a major impediment to Sektor and Bi-Han's relationship to the point of making her daughter hate her for it. Sektor's anger towards her mother stems from the abandonment she suffered (or so she felt, at the time her mother left the Lin Kuei to train the farm boys in Fengjian).

Now, regarding Bi-Han's father being against Bi-Han and Sektor's relationship…

[...]Sektor advised that we avoid detection by building our army using science, not sorcery. We've invested much time in this endeavor, and we are beginning to see results. Once again proving the depths of Sektor's genius. When we are done, all of Earthrealm will honor our desires and heed our demands. If not, they will face the Lin Kuei's wrath.

According to Bi-Han in the story mode, Kuai Liang is basically the ghost of their father since the old man died. Which is reflected in what he says to others, the way he judges others and the way he sees the world.

Kuai Laing is not wrong in thinking that Sektor has influenced his brother, but this influence is far from being any kind of control over what he does. Bi-Han hates being controlled, he hates being in anyone's shadow, he is an ambitious, self-centered, remorseless and ruthless man.

Liu Kang: Come in from the cold, Bi-Han. Sub-Zero: And again kneel before you?

Sub-Zero: My father was a fool to follow you. Liu Kang: He wisely honored Earthrealm with his service.

Sub-Zero: You wield the power that I aspire to. Sindel: Too bad you're unfit for it, Sub-Zero.

Smoke: You've always been cold to me. Sub-Zero: Because your blood is not Lin Kuei.

Takeda: Kuai Liang told me all about what you did. Sub-Zero: If you think I'm ashamed, you are wrong.

Smoke: You've no regrets for attacking the wedding? Noob Saibot: Only that I failed.

This has been his personality and true nature for many years, long before he betrayed Earthrealm, he literally watched their father die when he could have saved him. He chose not to save their father and is proud of it:

Sektor has nothing to do with this. There is nothing in the story mode, intros or endings that support unsubstantiated claims about Sektor being responsible for the things Bi-Han does, manipulating him or whatever else they are saying about her out there.

If anything, Sektor is the only person capable of inspiring positive feelings in Bi-Han. Because even though it's exclusively for his own good and his relationship with Sektor (not for the good of the world and such), what he feels for Sektor is capable of making him think of someone other than himself, capable of making him feel proud of someone other than himself, his love for her is capable of making him go out of his way to defend her, he trusts her with his eyes closed (literally, since he sleeps with her 😅), he shares the leadership of the clan with her, the love he feels for her makes him a better person (or as others would say, gives him depth, makes him a multidimensional character).…

Noob Saibot: If Liu Kang seeks to punish Sektor -- Geras: It would be his right to do so.

Liu Kang: Sektor should have trusted me to heal you. Noob Saibot: You should not have made her wait.

They are true partners. And if they really have been in a romantic relationship since before Bi-Han's father died (which is likely since Sektor is Bi-Han's confidante before being his woman. He could have been against this relationship. Although, this kinda goes against what other characters insinuate about her past, because according to Takeda, Sektor was respected by Kuai Liang:

Takeda: Scorpion no longer respects you. Sektor: That's not the burn you think it is.

Which indicates that his father also respected her. So much so that she was Tomas's Master.

Anyway, I still believe that Bi-Han's hatred and contempt for his father and Liu Kang stems from his mother's death. I really think that his mother is the one responsible for his ambition, his desire to control everything, his desire to make the Lin Kuei rule… To me, this dialogue:

Smoke: If Mother were alive -- Sub-Zero: She would applaud my actions.

Combined with the lack of any intro from Kuai Liang about what their mother's opinion would be regarding Bi-Han's actions:

Scorpion: Father would be ashamed of you. Sub-Zero: Only because he lacked vision.

He only mentions that their father would be ashamed of his actions. While with Sektor he only mentions Madam Bo:

Scorpion: You have dishonored Madam Bo! Sektor: Leave my mother out of this!

Because he knows that her father supports her:

Scorpion: Your father supports your actions? Sektor: He knows they are in the Lin Kuei's interests.

— I just hope history doesn't repeat itself. — Geras worried about how frustrated Liu Kang was. — History cannot repeat itself…

"My mother is a fuckin' cook in a mediocre village because of you, Liu Kang!"

Nothing in that place seemed hostile or threatening like the chaotic world of the titan Havik, but the hatred she felt for having been forced there made her hate the place a thousand times more. — Where am I?

Frustrated with the surroundings looking the same no matter where she looked and the inability of her armor to give her answers, Sektor ran after an exit following her instincts until she heard screams from what sounded like Vaeternians and the noises of an intense fight nearby.

— "I'll bury you in snow!"

— Bi-Han? — There was no way she could mistake that voice. And following the sound of those ice puns, she saw a version of Bi-Han that closely resembled her Bi-Han before he was transformed into a creature of chaos. Although the attire he wore was a light blue tone and noticeably simpler, this could only be another version of Sub-Zero.

She watched from behind the trees as he bravely fought against 4 Vaeternians and took down two of them before being knocked down.

— It's time for me to feed. — The vampire who seemed to be the leader of the attack flew towards the Lin Kuei warrior, eager to taste the supposedly refreshing and sweet blood of a cryomancer. But before she could satisfy her hunger, Sektor flew towards the vampire and incinerated her.

— I will take your wings, then your life for this affront!

— Who are you?!

— Your worst nightmare.

Surprised and dazzled by the fighting skills of the woman who was beating the two remaining vampires, Bi-Han just watched in silence as she took them down in a matter of minutes.

— Are you hurt? — Worried about the cryomancer who looked like a fragile clone of the man she loved, she helped him up.

— Argh… — Sub-Zero smiled at the impressive — and attractive — warrior who had come to his aid, ignoring the sharp pain in his ribs and back. — A Lin Kuei could do no better.

Amazed, he noticed a certain familiarity in her and when he was ready to ask her name, she pushed him away.

— Watch out!-- A-ah!

— I will enjoy your pain! — The vampire lunged at her again, fast like a jet against the warrior in red who had been knocked down after being thrown by the same vaeternian against a tree. But before the vampire could finish her off, Sub-Zero hit her with an ice ball followed by an ice spear piercing her insides. The vampire gave her final groan and the cryomancer ran to help his savior.

— Miss, are you alright?

— I am. — Hiding her pain, she accepted his help to get up and smiled holding his arms as she looked at the vaeternian's lifeless body. — You finished her off just good. — Sek found it strange how he looked away from her, seeming disappointed by her proud look on him. — What? What's wrong?

— I take no joy in taking lives. Not even those of these types of Vaeternians…

— How can you say that? — Finding the sadness in Bi-Han's eyes strange, she moved away from him in disgust. — They use people like us as food! They don't deserve mercy.

— Not all of them are like that. Most Vaeternians feed on simple animals like we do. I must warn Nitara about these rebellious vampires attacking…

— Nitara? — Disbelieving, Sektor moved even further away from him. — Are you partner of that maniac?

— I don't know what you're thinking. But we are partners in peace between our realms and we've fought some battles together, b-but we don't…

— Enough! I don't want to hear you anymore… — Bi-Han found it strange how she spoke to him as if she knew him, but at the same time she didn't seem to know anything about him or the realms. — I don't know what's going on in this realm, but you're not the Bi-Han I know!

— Wait! Don't go… — Uselessly, he called out to her as he saw her running into the forest. And after losing sight of her because she had flown for a while, he found her sitting behind a tree covering her face. She looked so fragile and helpless that he longed to have her in his embrace. — You're not from here, are you? — Not waiting for an answer, he moved a little closer until she looked at him. — Our realm is quite peaceful, but there are dangers that can fatally encounter you if you are alone.

— And what is this realm?

— Earthrealm.

I fought not long ago for the defense of your timeline against a tyrant named Shang Tsung. And recently there have been attacks by other evil titans on different timelines. — Cautiously, he moved a little closer to her. Still awkward, he avoided keeping his eyes on hers for too long, fearing that she would move away again. — It is not safe for you to travel through our timeline alone. Allow me to help you return to your home.

— Why would I trust a low-quality copy?

— Copy? — Surprised by the absurd use of the word. He repeated to himself in disbelief before rushing to hold her when she made to run again. — Hey! What do you mean by a low-quality copy?

— You are inferior to my Bi-Han in every way. — She breaks free from his grip angrily and Bi-Han lets her go, surprised by her ferocity.

— Your Bi-Han? Are you and my counterpart from Liu Kang's timeline… — Intimidated by Sektor's hard gaze, he cleared his throat before continuing quietly. — Intimates?

— Much more than that. We are soulmates. — Approaching the cryomancer with her chin held high, she tried to hide the pain of each step towards him with posture. She loved him so much, but that wasn't him. — Perfect. Inseparable.

— So why isn't he here with you?

The cryomancer's question had been genuine, but the blow caused by his words took them both by surprise.

He regretted the question as soon as he saw her seem to lose her breath and her eyes fill with tears.

— We will get together again and make the responsible for keeping us apart pay. — Before he could see her shed the first tear, she turned and wiped it away as soon as it fell. — Come with me or eat dust.

Do you think Bi-Han and Sektor have pet names in private or do they always call each other by their first names?

I would like to say yes, that they do use pet names on a daily basis, but I really don't think so (even in private). Contrary to what most fans say, based solely on Bi-Han's supposed "inappropriate behavior", Bi-Han is not a young man. Both he and Sektor already have wrinkles that in asians from well-off families (as they both are) only appear after 30. I really doubt they are under 30 and I believe they are both in their mid to late 30s. And the way most of their dialogues were developed, while it shows their close relationship, shows that their intimate relationship often mixes with their professional one.

Sektor formally informs Bi-Han of a wish from her father. Bi-Han, in turn, responds emotionally and not at all with the (reasonable) rationality expected from a leader:

Sektor: My father wishes to return to service. Sub-Zero: His first task can be reining in your mother.

Bi-Han definitely has a beef with Madam Bo. Expected, since in Madam Bo's eyes, Bi-Han is the one who leads Sektor down the wrong path. And after all, well, she's his mother-in-law.

Sektor being rude to Bi-Han here despite him asking a simple question regarding her work:

Noob Saibot: How long before the prototype is ready? Sektor: It will be done when it is done.

For her to respond in such a rude manner to a question related to her work indicates that she also has her moments of seeing him only as Bi-Han, her man, and not as her Grandmaster.

And as we all know, Bi-Han is the Grandmaster of the Lin Kuei and Sektor is officially his Master Amorer and second in command. And although some people want to see Sektor's ambition and the things she says about leading as someone with evil intentions and who is ready to betray Bi-Han at any moment. By making these assumptions, they ignore the fact that Sektor loves Bi-Han above all else and that she and Bi-Han already lead the clan together. When she talks about leading being better than following in conversations with Li Mei and how she practically confirms that she is more dangerous than Bi-Han…

She is trying to convince Li Mei like Bi-Han once did.

It is already quite clear from their endings (Sub-Zero, Sektor and Noob Saibot), intros and story mode, that Bi-Han and Sektor lead the clan together. She is not a Bi-Han's follower, she is his right hand. They are together in everything. Bi-Han makes almost no decisions without consulting her first. Li Mei on the other hand, is just a follower in the royal court. Li Mei has no influence over Mileena whatsoever. Sektor is simply questioning Li Mei's lack of ambition.

There are those who think that Sektor despises Bi-Han because of this one dialogue too:

They ignore that as a woman willing to do anything to protect the clan and the man she loves, she has to be more dangerous than him to do so. She has to be able to hold her own against his enemies. She is speaking like a lioness here.

If Sektor wanted to lead the Lin Kuei alone and betray Bi-Han, she wouldn't have even rescued him from the Temple of the Elements. She was literally leading alone and angry at Bi-Han, but she chose to bring him back anyway.

She truly loves him and is loyal to him. And the professional hierarchy of the two has been carried into their private lives without any problems for so long that they don't even care about disguising it properly at work from other subordinates, allies, enemies…

And knowing that Sektor is most likely submissive…

I highly doubt that she calls Bi-Han by nicknames and that Bi-Han would even be cool with being called by such. Although Sektor is affectionate with Bi-Han, she respects him and his position (both in the clan and in their relationship) too much to give him nicknames. And Bi-Han respects her decision not to hear her own name, which for some reason, she despises (since everything indicates that Sektor is not her real name, but even Bi-Han only calls her Sektor), I dare say that the closest they get to pet names in private is when they are making love. Like, "my beloved husband", "my beloved master", "babe do it like this", etc. Or when they are trying to disagree with each other without starting an argument, starting the rhetoric with " But darling...", "dear, think not...", etc.

I agree, Bi-Han was very close to his mother. In fact, I believe he probably took most of her personality and appearance (thin eyebrows and sharp cheekbones). A dialogue line between Smoke and Li-Mei states that his mother was “nonsense and tough as nails”. Some people think he speaking about his bio mom but I truly believe he was speaking about his adoptive mother because whenever he takes about his bio mom there is always a somber tone.

Now I’m only making assumptions here, but I’m she was the only woman to understand him until he got with Sektor.

Yes. You're right. Sektor is the only person who truly understands Bi-Han and has supported him since his mother died. And as strange as some people may find it, men like Bi-Han — men who are truly attached and close to their mothers — are often (when not exclusively) attracted to women who are similar to their mothers. And this isn't just a male fetish thing, nor is it a conscious choice. Bi-Han certainly doesn't see Sektor as his mother. But she definitely has personality traits that he feels familiar enough to be attracted to, behavioral traits that he grew up admiring, physical traits that he feels comfortable with. Her affection for him takes him to a safe place, a place he hasn't had access to since his mother's death, he feels safe enough in her presence to expose his vulnerabilities:

I can't even imagine how comforting it must have been for him to hear Sektor's voice and see her face after spending hours being tortured to death by titan Havik. And worse, being forced to obey him, knowing how much he hates obeying and being controlled.

I saw a lot of people (intentionally or not) reading this scene the wrong way. Trying to paint this scene as a sample of a toxic relationship, where Bi-Han doesn't care about her or that Sektor has no dignity for accepting this. And I was like, "WTF". The only thing he did was abruptly break free from her strong grip to punch Liu Kang. The important point of this scene has been completely ignored…

The authority and lack of fear she shows when holding him tightly and telling him not to fight was just another way they found to show us that Sektor is Bi-Han's significant other. A simple follower, just another subordinate of the ruthless Grandmaster, would not have the courage to do this. And even though she is very important to him and he loves her, he is not the type of man who obeys without a good reason. He is not a man with an easy temperament to control and truly hates being controlled. It's even unfair to compare the situation between Sektor and Bi-Han with that of Harumi and Kuai Liang as some people have been doing…

First, Kuai Liang didn't have the adrenaline of a bloodlust running through his veins like he would have had if he had gone after Cyrax to kill her, Cyrax was the one who offered her neck to Kuai's wrath.

Second, Kuai Liang, not even at that moment, had half the hatred for Cyrax that Bi-Han has for Liu Kang and Havik. It's literally confirmed by him and her, in story mode and intros, that they have a past.

Third, Harumi actually gave Kuai Liang convincing reasons to spare Cyrax. Sektor didn't give Bi-Han any, and even if she had, I doubt it would have changed his mind. After all, Bi-Han's goal was to give Liu Kang a quick pummeling to kill the man/titan/god who tortured him to death.

Even though the expansion's story isn't a masterpiece of literature, the part about making Sektor and Bi-Han's relationship romantic without diminishing the threat that Bi-Han actually poses as an antagonist in the game was successfully achieved.

Sektor is Bi-Han's only weakness (just as he is hers)...

Shang Tsung: Bi-Han will pay a steep ransom for your return. Sektor: Just how are *you* planning to abduct *me*?

Shang Tsung: This hostility is unwarranted, Bi-Han. Noob Saibot: You tried to abduct Sektor!

Noob Saibot: You wish to bargain? After what you've done?! Shang Tsung: Do you wish to rule or not, Bi-Han.

Noob Saibot: It is time you answer for Sektor. Shang Tsung: For what, exactly? She escaped me unharmed.

Noob Saibot: You tried enlisting Sektor against me?! Quan Chi: Not against you. To help you see reason.

Noob Saibot: Leave. Before this gets ugly. Quan Chi: I am here to haggle but if we must fight, so be it.

Noob Saibot: If Liu Kang seeks to punish Sektor -- Geras: It would be his right to do so.

Kenshi: So you and Sektor, eh? Hm. That tracks. Noob Saibot: If that is mockery, you are a dead man.

Liu Kang: Sektor should have trusted me to heal you. Noob Saibot: You should not have made her wait.

And I honestly find it strange that there are those who think that Li Mei would remind Tomas of his biological mother when he calls Bi-Han's mother his mother too:

Li Mei: I remind you of your mother? Smoke: No-nonsense and tough as nails, just like her.

describes a fighter, not a hunter. Which Li Mei is, just like Bi-Han's mother was:

Sindel: Both your parents were excellent fighters. Scorpion: I can only hope to live up to their example.

*Plus, Li Mei and Bi-Han's mother (in mk1) are Chinese (inspired appearance), I doubt that Smoke's biological mother was not Czech like him.

Smoke remembering his adoptive mother as a serious, firm,  straightforward, strong, extremely tough and determined woman. No-nonsense and tough as nails, like a warrior is supposed to be, makes sense to describe Bi-Han's mother in a few words. And Bi-Han being right about his mother…

Smoke: If Mother were alive -- Sub-Zero: She would applaud my actions.

This dialogue between Li Mei and Sektor kinda proves that Sek would have had her mother-in-law's blessing if she were still alive:

Li Mei: In another life, we might have been friends. Sektor: That is pointless speculation, Li Mei.

Liu Kang, his father and brother may disapprove of Sektor now, but his mother would love her (almost) as much as he does and that's all that matters to him.

Aside from that entertainment room, what other modifications do you think Sektor made to Linkuei Palace? My first thought is that he made elevators :>

Oh, yeah. Of course. She must have had elevators installed all over the palace. And not just in the palace, but in large public buildings throughout the main clan, like the library, school, hospital…

I believe that Sektor would use technology to make life easier for all Lin Kuei, not just hers and Bi-Han's. I truly believe that they both truly care about the clan and besides, good deeds for the clan maintain their respect and boost the warriors' morale.

In addition to the technological training room with virtual reality, she must have ordered computers installed in the library and/or school, projectors in the palace conference room, a projector in her and Bi-Han's bedchamber (the Grandmaster's chamber), Japanese toilets throughout the palace (I mean, she is really into tech, so…), state-of-the-art equipment in the hospital for all Arctika's doctors/healers to do the best job possible, more efficient (and faster) means of transportation to bring supplies to all Lin Kuei since Arctika is an isolated continent and although not much larger than a country like Australia, it is still a very large territory and blizzards complicate mobility for many…

However, the building of her workshop/research laboratory is without any doubt the most equipped and technological part of all Arctika. Most likely even more equipped than her father's workshop was, since according to Bi-Han's ending as Sub-Zero and as Noob Saibot (both canonical as well as intros) she has Bi-Han's support and approval for all necessary expenses, as well as complete freedom to do research and experiments.

"I had broken the Lin Kuei free of Liu Kang's enslavement. We were now masters of our destiny and could take our place among Earthrealm's greatest nations. But taking and holding territory would require a vast army. I needed more fighters to make our presence felt. Then I recalled Shang Tsung's dragon warriors. An army of them would be unstoppable. But trafficking in such strong magic would surely draw Liu Kang's attention. Sektor advised that we avoid detection by building our army using science, not sorcery. We've invested much time in this endeavor, and we are beginning to see results. Once again proving the depths of Sektor's genius. When we are done, all of Earthrealm will honor our desires and heed our demands. If not, they will face the Lin Kuei's wrath."

I just had a crazy thought about Bi-Han's hatred for his father…

What if Bi-Han let him die because he was against his relationship with Sektor? And wanted him to marry another future clan leader like Harumi (if Kuai has known Harumi since childhood as he says, Bi-Han and his father must have known her too)? Because we know that it was Bi-Han who made Sektor second in command of the Lin Kuei, she was just the daughter of a master armorer before he became Grandmaster…
