How I Got Into F1 (the long version)

One of my earliest memories I have of my grandfather is sitting on his lap in the living room at three years old, watching forty or so cars rip around an oval track at 200 miles an hour.

It was the Daytona 500, and it was the coolest thing I had ever seen. I was still a few weeks out from gaining any form of meaningful consciousness, and yet my little neurons were firing on all cylinders (heh) telling me that this was exactly where I wanted to be. It was NASCAR.

WAIT, before you start throwing rocks at my head for being a dirty stock car enjoyer, let me just be very clear:

Fuck off.

Motorsport is motorsport. They all require an insane level of strength, coordination, endurance, and skill. Racing is the most raw form of sport humans can achieve, whether it’s on foot or wheels. I will not tolerate motorsport purists.

That being said, I will say that NASCAR is a very different type of racing from Formula One. Some people love it, some people don’t, and that’s okay! I don’t need you to enjoy all types of motorsport, I just don’t want to hear any negative comments about one version being worse or easier or pointless compared to another.

Anyway, NASCAR. My grandfather was a huge American motorsport fan. NHRA, Indycar, I’m pretty sure he watched CART when that was still a thing, he loved dirt oval racing, he’d watch AMA motorcross it it came on — if it was American and involved vehicles going fast, he wanted to watch it. So of course, I grew up sitting with him, watching cars go around tracks, finding out why some drivers were good and some were bad, why this car was faster than another, how engines worked, the whole thing.

My grandfather also built cars from the ground up — not just as a mechanic, he like, built his own truck with pieces he bought and took from the junkyard. It was a thing of beauty: black, sleek, it smelled good, okay I’m rambling back to motorsport.

Anyway, of course the moment my uncle found out about my love for racing, he introduced me to rally. He’s an at-home mechanic and a firefighter. He’s always loved the outdoors, and cars, and he’s a bit of an adrenaline junkie. Snowboarding, skiing, motocross, dirt buggies, mountain biking, and of course, rally — if it’s outside and just might kill him, he loves it. He likes camping and hunting and diving, he’s just probably my favorite person on the planet.

Between my uncle and my grandfather, motorsport was kind of a no brainer of an interest to pick up.

I also got really into mechanics when I was about seven years old, when an interest in WWII turned into an obsession over the technology behind airplanes and tanks and the like.

And then, the short version comes in. I’m sitting at my desk, bored, it’s lockdown, everyone’s stuck inside, and my YouTube recommends me Formula One highlights, because I’d been watching NASCAR and WRC and WEC a lot, especially when I just needed background sound (I’ll attach the video I’ve been using to fall asleep recently, it’s just the most beautiful sound ever).

So I watch the highlights, I think “this is cool” and then of course YouTube gives me clips of Verstappen and Riccardo cackling together, Norris being giggly in interviews, Hamilton and Vettel and Alonso and Kimi, the whole vacuum of F1 personality just dumped on me week one.

And of course, I fell in love.

Voice of man reading emetwol fic again. some thoughts.

ive seen like two fics like this thus far and am beginning to suspect it may be a subgenre: WoL, in the timeline where black rose happened, is still alive for some reason and is essentially coerced into marrying emet in order to assure it is not used, all while the garlean empire is occupying like, peak wealth and status rather than slowly cannibalizing itself like a pack of miserable wolves delirious from the stress of long-term captivity.

am noticing a pattern (inasmuch as noticing the same element present twice is “noticing a pattern”) where in these fics wol is presented with like extremely desirable material goods and services but turns them down or chafes against them because they’re extensions of emet’s hospitality, and she kind of hates him. this in and of itself is kind of part of a repeated theme i see with him where he’s able to provide all sorts of material items or benefits and has no real compunctions about giving extremely lavish gifts, but in order to maintain the illusion of social propriety and lack of materialism these are usually forced on WoL rather than graciously accepted by her.

and it kind of makes me think, like, certainly i agree being materialistic is not a desirable trait, but what’s wrong with appreciating things that people offer you? i have a bunch of like…extenuating circumstances, in my case, that can make accepting generosity (especially of the material sort) difficult, because i’m an abuse victim and spent a lot of my formative years in poverty, and i think the idea that accepting gifts or wanting anything at all makes you materialist is certainly a contributing factor (interesting also how often it’s accompanied by the idea that resigning oneself to poverty is morally aspirational, something something propaganda!)

ultimately im kind of at the point where like. Reluctance in accepting gifts is real, especially in people for whom gifts were weaponized somehow or who don’t value themselves or are uncomfortable with extravagant gifts because of prior experiences with poverty or who have moral OCD about materialistic behavior or whatever else, and i don’t mind that in fiction or whatever, but i do think maybe in a more general sense shaming material desires or playing coy about them isn’t the way, either. I’ll Admit It: as a poor and disabled person, even given my difficulties around receiving or accepting gifts (depending on the person giving this can range from mild guilt to legitimate panic attacks), i would love to have nice things to wear, and an attractive and well-kept place to live, and total food security, and help with tasks of daily living, and the occasional totally useless pretty trinket. That would be awesome. why should i not want that, and why should i not entertain a fantasy where a loving and safe person can provide those things to me out of a simple desire to see me be well, without coercion or abuse involved?

and yes, like, I do understand that in the case of fic about emet and garlemald those are all certainly ill-gotten gains, but the framing is almost always like UGH, MY GILDED CAGE! i GUESS i’ll eat this delicious food and wear this beautiful dress and sleep in this wonderfully appointed safe and warm shelter :/ as opposed to like Wow, this is the luxury he’s killing the world for!, so im fairly sure that is not the reason for the heroine-as-extension-of-author’s rejection of said wealth

like idk just. Having people who are eager to do nice stuff for me and trying to balance my weird neuroses with not wanting to let them down is starting to highlight for me not only the flaws in them but the way i think typical platitudes about materialism are in effect less often used to chide the economically comfortable and more often used to dissuade the poor from wanting to like, escape the hand-to-mouth living and exploitation that comes with being part of the have-not underclass in society

I’d like to add some shows and art as suggestions. I don’t know if these are considered problematic? I would call them controversial, and of mature content. What you do on the internet is your business but the intended audience for all of the art I highlighted below is 18+ adults, in my opinion, so enter at own risk. These have all had a profound and long-lasting impact on me.

- Salad Fingers: This animated show gave me nightmares. Topics include insanity, self harm, depression, suicide.

- Zoo station: The Story of Christiane F. An auto-biography. I prefer the book over the movie. Topics include: taking hard drugs & sex work while underaged, self harm, and death.

This book helped me understand my own addictive tendencies and be more mindful of them. I also never took any drugs, not even alcohol or cigarettes, because I felt that by reading the book I had experienced what it was like. The book describes the experiences very vividly. The good, the bad, and the ugly, so to speak.

- Oz. A TV show. Includes a variety of topics, such as prison, concepts of right and wrong, power struggles, male abuse, rape, religion, homophobia, racism, drug use, murder.

- Philadelphia. A movie. It’s about HIV/AIDS, court, racism and death.

- Game of Thrones. A TV show and book series, which the show is based on. Topics include war, violence, incest, feuds, revenge, emotional & physical abuse, murder, manipulation.

- Jessica Jones. A TV show. Focuses on the idea of consent and manipulation. Also includes death.

- 300. A movie. Topics include death, war, revenge, rape, being set in one’s ways and thereby causing more damage than the good or justice one hopes to attain.

- Spartacus. TV show. Lots of sex scenes. Topics include slavery, being used & abused, death, physical pain, infidelity and loyalty VS disloyalty. (Also includes real life death if you’re looking at interviews, BTS stuff etc)

Today I was in a conversation with a human who said they would dump a guy if they found out the guy was wearing makeup.

It was an uncomfortable conversation. I tried to gently tell this person that views about makeup were very different from what they were even ten years ago regarding men wearing makeup.

A co-worker watched our interactions and my agitation and asked me why I felt upset. I told them that it was possibly hurtful to say something like that about another person. I wasn't personally offended by the notion, and that first human is entitled to whatever opinions and preferences they feel. But in saying a thing like that out loud I thought they had broken the social contract.

But I think I have lived my life operating under a different social contract than other people.

After work, I was chewing on this, in the manner of all morally OCD creatures everywhere, and I decided it was

A combination of saying a possibly hurtful thing and then also not caring whether or not it could be hurtful to another person.

And I think this is at the Root of the difference in my social contract and that observed by many other people.

My rule says you shouldn't be mean to Anyone. And by my own definition, I can ONLY be willfully mean, because I care a wildly exaggeratedly large amount about hurting other people with my words and actions.

I censor myself WAY more than other people. Even if they have broken the contract. Even if they have Directly violated the contract at me, to my face.

Words have been used to harm and control me since I was a child. To shift responsibilities from others onto me unfairly, and words have been a refuge to which I have retreated over and over again to control myself and thereby possibly positively impact my outcomes with others.

But there is something off kilter in this equation. Something here is a relic of childhood abuse survivor logic wrapped up in my threat response as an adult.

Something where the social contract that applies respect and courtesy to all humans does not apply evenly to me, but much more strictly.

I must say, though, I Do know that lots of Cis Het non-queer identified men do wear makeup. Sometimes they are covering blemishes, or scars. Sometimes they are highlighting features. But no amount or type of makeup can make them any less men in my mind. It is not a dump-able offense to me. The idea of dumping a guy for wearing makeup is mean. I would fight for them. I will die on that hill.

But this conversation opened a door to a dark place in me, and I think this yawning black place of wind is a place to reclaim. A part of me that knows and fully understands how to push back against meanies.

People say Sid, and that’s chill. Maybe he fits the bill. But honestly this guy strikes me as more of an OCD person. Some of his superstitions: the fact that one of his teammates said he wouldn’t visit because the guy had a black cat. Or one thing I read that always intrigued me was that he has to walk around a trash can in the locker room before the team can go out. Nobody else can touch his stick after it’s been taped. He’s got some of the same gear from way too long ago, and he’s asked guys to stop wearing things when they go on losing streaks with said outfits.

He could be an incredibly superstitious person, and maybe that’s just the way he is. I’ll be the first to admit he’s a complex person- and just kinda weird. Lovably weird. But I feel like superstitions usually have to do with oneself and not always others. And I find it hard to believe Sid of all people, would go out of his way to tell somebody to stop doing something just for his own benefit, unless it truly affected him mentally. Again, maybe he just is that insane in the membrane. Who knows.

And of course this is all speculation, but it wouldn’t be crazy to suggest that perhaps it’s possible. OCD latches onto things we love or focus on immensely. When I did marching band, I was on the dance team. We counted in eights for routines, and during that time and a long time after I counted everything in eights. My steps, roller hockey shots, blinking, brushing my teeth, breathing, walking, etc. for Sid, it might be the McDonald’s M, or that five pm PB&J sandwich. Some OCD is accompanied by ‘magic thinking’ some is not. His could be, ‘if I don’t do this, we lose.’ Or, ‘if I do this, something terrible may happen.’

An example of that would be the fact that he doesn’t like to see his family on game days. It’s a good example of, ‘if I see them, I’ll get hurt again,’ seeing as the last time he spoke with his sister Taylor before a game, he got a concussion. I’m usually not wrapped up in people or their mental health. I don’t truly pay much mind. But this has been something that I’ve always been curious about. Especially after Jason Zucker had spoken about his own OCD in an interview. He highlighted his as being a, ‘neat freak,’ which he could have possibly been using OCD as an adjective, but it’s always hard to tell. And it’s also hard to be able to tell when you don’t see or hear of Sid’s reactions when something is interrupted or tampered with. For some -myself included- physical tics have formed over time when stressors interfere with my day and my routines. I blink hard or curl my toes. I stretch my sides until they feel evenly done to the point that they may be sore the next day, and I pick my skin and dig my nails into my palms. We don’t see that from Sid. No doubt because he is an incredibly private person. Or physical tics -if he has OCD- just might not be his thing. It could be panic attacks, or compulsive thoughts or repeated words. The list goes on.

Either way, Crosby will always give off the vibe of either a dude manifesting OCD in hockey, or an insanely superstitious person who’s gonna be known as the village crazy lady one day.

But this is all just my unnecessarily vast opinion on the subject. And something I find fun and interesting to discuss because I feel like Obsessive Compulsive Disorder doesn’t get enough stage time when people want to start talking about mental health. And it’s always incredibly misconstrued by others. So even if he doesn’t have OCD, then maybe this was educational in some way. 😂

So I don't normally post personal stuff or opinions. At most, I'll tack on a small anecdote on an existing post, and usually just in the tags. Rarely, if ever, do I create my own. But I feel a visceral need to reinforce something important.

I grew up on early Disney movies. That's my childhood. My first VHS was Bambi, when I was too young to even comprehend what a movie was. I was also an only child, quiet, autistic, and riddled with OCD. I disappeared into movies and books, felt like I was a part of them, and to this day can experience a meltdown at the slightest indication of change.

The Little Mermaid was my favorite. I'd pretend to be a mermaid almost daily, wrapping my legs in blankets or t-shirts, singing my tiny lungs out. In the course of growing up, I'd own a walkman and eventually a CD player. Each had the OST on standby, as cassette tape and CD. I never talked on the long bus rides, just put on my headphones and let the music take me. When I discovered Limewire, the OST was one of the first things I downloaded. My first real bed after the crib era was adorned with an Ariel comforter set, and I had Flounder and Sebastian stuffed animals that never left it until probably high school. In grade school, my mom spent months making me an Ariel costume for Halloween, of which I still have the tail skirt (obviously no longer fits). I don't much care for public performances, especially when they're loud and bright, but when my family took me to Little Mermaid on Ice, I could have stayed in that auditorium forever.

We had one luxurious* family trip to Disney World when I was in 4th grade. We were in Florida for a week, and other than getting placed in a baby stroller by Captain Hook to be comically wheeled around, my highlight of the entire trip was meeting Ariel. I spent most of our time there wondering where she was and when I'd get to meet her, and then if we could go back and talk to her again - I suspect ad nauseum lol.

*Luxurious to us. My parents saved up for years, I presume, and got lucky with some once in a lifetime deals and group discounts. (This was also 20+ years ago.) We were never rich or well-off, so this was a dream come true.

With all that being said... anyone up in arms over Ariel being Black should be ashamed of themselves. Anyone complaining that Disney is just trying to be "woke" should be ashamed of themselves. As if Black people are some ancillary customization that aggrieves the societal "default." What the actual fuck is wrong with you? Sincerely? (That's a rhetorical question, by the way, I have zero interest in any excuse you might conjure from your ass. Any bullshittery will be blocked.)

I truly believe you all need to take a serious look at yourselves, the words you're saying, and do some crisis-level introspection. Because this is embarrassing. It's senseless. As someone struggling daily with adulthood and wishing she could disappear back to the ignorant bliss of childhood, y'all desperately need to grow the hell up and act like real people.

How on earth can you look at all these little Black girls being over the moon to see someone like them, and still hold such vitriol in your hearts? How can you take something so joyful and innocent, and bend over backwards to make it ugly? Most of you I've seen behaving like this are grown ass men, too - as if you'd otherwise even care about a movie whose prime demographic was young girls.

Fucksake, aren't y'all tired? It's so easy, and free, to not act this way. Like you're all competing for the title of Most Contemptible Shitstain, but no one told you it's a defunct category.

(Oh my god I’m writing this with Ella, right? I told her to stop clawing at the furniture, right? All of a sudden her focus is on the ground and I wiggles my toes, testing if she was looking at my feet, and I started moving them around. I told her, ‘stop looking at my feet.’ This cat, this puta, liked me in the eyes before looking back down and got in position to lunge at my feet. My heart stopped and I pulled my feet onto the couch. And she was going to do it because the moment I moved my feet, she jumped from the top of the couch she’s on... she scares me sometimes 😣)

Levin and I co-con often. If I’m not in control, then he is

On instances where I get angry, Lilith takes control

Little co-cons with me more than everyone else because she enjoys annoying me

Lilith and Little are both so stubborn and hardheaded, it’s unbelievable. On the other hand, Levs and I are open minded and calm. So we often clash on what we should do as a collective

Lilith is a Christian, Levi and I are atheists, and Little is a Seventh Day Adventist (the religion I grew up with). However Lev and I hold more say, so we don’t go to church

I guess you could say there’s a hierarchy in the system. I have the most important say, then Lev, then Little, and lastly Lilith

Levin and I enjoy co-conning with each other only, anyone else gives us headaches

Everyone loves Nico Collins, Alec Benjamin, Set It Off, and AJR the most

Everyone’s favorite albums are Death of a Bachelor (p!atd), Cinematics (set it off), and American Beauty/American Psycho (fall out boys)

Everyone loves sushi and sushi rolls (California and Philadelphia rolls are the best)

We all really want to try takoyaki and pork Katsudon. When we do try them, I’ll probably make a post about it

We all love Ella and we all want to start a rehabilitation center of all animals and a pet cafe

We love reptiles, like all reptiles, venomous snakes included

I think there are more alters that just aren’t as prominent as the other three, Levin would know but he doesn’t like to discuss our system often

We really want to buy these specific no pierce cuff earrings

Edit: this total slipped my mind- when I’m on my red week (you know what I’m talking about) the others let me deal with it on my own, especially Little and Lev (Lev hates that week and recedes completely)

FICTIONAL CHARACTERS I WISH WERE TRUE SO THAT I COULD DATE THEM or stare at them from afar

HIWow! It was hard choosing a first topic to talk about. I felt like I needed to talk about something big and glamorous to blow the brains out of… of someone. But alas, this is my best, for now..

So, I chose the first one that I had listed on the top of my head ever since I first started reading.

BOOK BOYFRIENDS!

This is a list of MEN or BOYS who tickle the romantic bone just right! (I had dreamed that there was such an organ in the human body, just near the stomach)

I selected these FICTIONAL BOYFRIENDS as potential members of my harem If I ever defy normal Filipino conceptions of marriage and take up polyandry.

The criteria I used is simple.

  Choose the fictional partners that I can imagine existing in real life  (not too much of an alpha and rich or good looking that borders on unbelievable). The type of characters that I can imagine talking to, who I find fascinating and can be a potential long-time partner, casual hook up or best friend.

 I originally wanted to stick to 10. But as I wrote, a lot of names popped up and I can’t not put them in the list but still, I am sure after I have this article published (Char! Haha) there will be a lot of “Shoot! Why did I not put him on the list???” exclamations. So, maybe I will eventually make another continuation list???

This list is based on the BOOKS I READ so if  you have a bet that I didn’t list, please don’t hesitate to give a recom. A new book to swoon over is always welcome.

 Most Importantly: READ THE BOOKS WHERE THESE AMAZING CHARACTERS CAME FROM. I liked them because of their wit, their personality, how they interacted with other people, their dreams and how their love for their other half made them better people or vice versa. MEANING: THE BOOK WAS WICKED AWESOME AND THE AUTHOR WAS A GOOD STORYTELLER.

(I must apologize for the lack of female to female romantic partner mentions given my current lack of FF Romance reads, which is something I will rectify soon. But if you have recommendations, feel free to comment below and maybe add some MM ones too!)

1. Clayton Danvers and Lucas Cortez

Kelley Armstrong’s  Women of the Underworld Series

Genre: Horror fiction, Paranormal romance, Urban fantasy 

This series is adapted on screen called ‘Bitten’ which is available on Netflix.

Clayton Danvers is the strong, silent, and smart type. He is a professor in a university where he met Elena(his student) and a werewolf! His devotion to Elena was sweet, passionate and faithful to the point that bordered on obsessive but not off putting. The best thing about him was how un-Alpha he was. Although he was strong , his relationship with Elena was a partnership.

This is what romance needs today guys! A PARTNER not a rich and condescending daddy!

Lucas Cortez, on the other hand, is a lawyer/sorcerer, young master of a Cabal Group, who informally separates from his family's company to pursue a life as a lawyer protecting the rights of other magical beings against abusive Cabals(including his family's). Unlike Clayton, he was slender with brown eyes behind glasses. So basically, a cute, smart nerd who is the 'good' black sheep of the family.

2. Quinn Sullivan

Penny Reid’s Neanderthal Meets Human

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Quin…*sighs*... So awesome! He was quiet, mysterious,unsmiling, rich and had an almost perfect handsome face. I love that the author imagined small flaws like almost unnoticeable  crooked bottom front teeth and differing sizes of his ears with one prominent feature -his hawk-like stare. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, he took Janie's quirkiness in stride. Asking questions, debating, protecting, annoying, kissing…. You know the drill..😉

3. Beau Winston

Penny Reid’s Beard in Mind

Genre: Contemporary Romance

On first read, Beau was a good looking, charming good boy who is looking for his path after his twin, Duane left to pursue his own.

What I loved about him was how he dealt with Shelley's(Quinn's Sister) clinically diagnosed mental illness(OCD). He researched about it and made efforts to make it easier for her and was just overall supportive. 

It was awesome how much the author has put an effort in researching OCD facts to make details perfectly accurate and how it was NOT at all a hastily placed plot device to get the story going. 

4.Ted Beaudine

Susan Elizabeth Phillips’ Call Me Irresistible

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Hello to my favorite romance book of all time!

 I think I have read this many times already and have to put off re-reading it again for next year(2021)  to give my brain some time to forget some of the plot. We need to keep the mystery going! amiright??

Anyway, Ted was the perfect genius, good boy and people pleasing guy. He is perfectly polite, straight laced  and has basically carried the whole town in his muscled shoulders for years. (Did I tell you he was the Mayor?) 

Meg's carefree life and struggles basically tickled his good boy bone the wrong way.

Read this novel to witness how a perfect boy and wastrel girl turned out in the end. Seriously Please Read!

5.  Patrick Jason 'Pick' Ryan

Linda Kage' Be My Hero

Genre: Contemporary Romance

  He was the tattoed, orphan softie on the wrong side of town who thankfully did not grow up a thug because of a vision he got when he was young from a moled witch.

One day, his tinkerbell, the star of his visions, enters the bar he works at, but PREGNANT!

Gosh! I loved this so much. This was part of the Forbidden Men Series but can read as a stand alone. Although, I advise you to read the other books also, they were all awesome!

6. Colin Bridgerton

 Julia Quin’s Bridgerton Series

Genre: Historical Fiction/ Romance

Charming, green eyed and younger son, Colin was considered a catch of the ton.

He had a case of wanderlust and couldn't stay at one place without getting an itch. I can't say more without giving a major spoiler, but I loved that the author made him major insecurities.

Because secretly,too perfect is boring, right??

7. Sean Cassidy

Penny Reid and L.H Cosway's  The Player and the Pixie

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Wewowewowewo. *sexy flames* 

Imagine a gorgeous jerk of a jock with sexual inexperience and a rainbow haired goody goody shoes girl (whose brother is his ultimate enemy) who is willing to be the TEACHER!

But it was more than that, I liked how the authors highlighted the perils of kleptomania, the privilege of the rich and how gorgeous jerks are set straight by their women who would not suffer in a relationship with a class A insensitive jerk just because he was good looking and rich.

This was a ride! I lost count how many times I re-read this book.

8. Elend Venture

Branson Sanderson’s Mistborn Trilogy

Genre: High Fantasy

Elend was the angsty boy part of the elite class who is disgusted by his privilege and looks for ways to make the government better by reading outlawed books that spark rebellious and forward ideas. In short, he was a closet revolutionary.

Throughout the series there were some major changes in his life from a closet reader to a person who pursues ideas he just once read in books?

How do they say it? Walk the talk or in his case, Walk the read? (talking about it would mean death)

9.Archer Devereux

April White’s The Immortal Descendants Series

Genre: Time Travel Romance/ Historical Fantasy

Dumdumdumdum. Imagine a conservative college boy from the past your future self time traveled in, spends time with you, helps you in your quest, likes you secretly and is shy about it and becomes a vampire stuck in immortality waiting to meet the 'present' you.

Talk about love lasting through time! This was a great book if you love time travel stories with historically accurate and interesting facts injected heavily into the story! 

10. Rupert Carsington

Loretta Chase’ Mr. Impossible

Genre: Historical Fiction/Romance

A hellion younger son of an earl who loves an adventurous carefree life who is without inhibition, just goes along the ride and has a set of surprisingly caring and dependable muscled shoulders.

Meets a beautiful tempered scholar who needs his help finding his kidnapped brother in the sands of Egypt.

This is perfect for those who love adventure romances, and topics on the papyrus, mummies and the french and British looting conflict in the African colonies.

11. Sebastian Ballister

Loretta Chase’ Lord of Scoundrels

Genre: Historical Fiction/Romance

My favorite Historical Romance book ever!! Like Ted Beaudine's book, I try to read this at least once or twice a year to forget some of the plot and keep the mystery going.

He was called the Marquess of Dain and has been raising hell since childhood and in the present day France where he meets the blue stocking Jessica. The author throughout the book continually refers to them as the Beauty and the Beast.

What makes this book SPECIAL is how intelligent, witty and funny most of their conversations were. It's funny how many books are under many sexy, funny and witty lists on goodreads but only some of those on the list are actually true! THIS BOOK IS ONE OF THEM!

Jess was not annoying or shy or too much of a fighter and Dain was not too obnoxious. It was perfect.

And if you have not read this book or others from this author or genre, I command you to start reading after you finish this article.Break some cherries!

12.  Hardy Cates

Liza Kleypas’ Blue Eyed Devil

Genre: Contemporary Romance

A blue neck Town boy chasing dreams outside of town to leave the shithole of a living. He has white knight complexes but leaves the damsel in distress after the case is solved. Also, muscular and has the blunt and bluest  eyes on Texas 

This book I have also reread many times because it talks about dealing with domestic abuse and moving on after an abusive relationship, dealing with people who have narcissistic disorder and the life of the privileged.

13. Connor ‘Mad’ Rogan

Illona Andrews’ Hidden Legacy Series

Genre: Paranormal Romance (PNR)

Wootwootwoot. Imagine a former military but now head of the House 'Mad' Rogan successfully publicly kidnapping you in broad daylight using only wads of cloth. Talk about a powerful telekinetic! 

I loved that he was once again, A partner in the relationship and not an overprotective ape despite him being awfully more powerful than Nevada.

14.Phil Tucker

Jennifer Crusie Welcome to Temptation

Genre: Contemporary Romance

This is written by an author whose ALL BOOKS WRITTEN i have read and loved.

 Phil is part of a long line of male Mayors in the family and meets almost fugitive-like Sophie. 

Read as they deal with each other, try to take down a production of town porn video, deal with an enemy, try to dirty Phil down to win the next election and spend time reading a romance classic.

15.  Ansel Guillaume

Christina Lauren’s Sweet Filthy Boy

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Known for the many explicit sexy times that can be read throughout the book. So, if you want to stay green in the ears, skip this one till you're legal.

Ansel is a sweet, full of life French Lawyer celebrating with friends in LA and Mia with her friends also, celebrating their newly graduated from college selves.

Ansel is soft, a daydreamer, magnificent bringer of orgasms and game with all things Mia is willing to do.

They married through Elvis and decided to not divorce yet to explore the beautiful France and a  possibility of a good relationship.
