Kalim was excited to have a new friend! Oh the parties they'd have! The fun! The food!

When he met you, you were... distant. Did he do something wrong? Did he upset you?

He really did try to find out what he did wrong, and often sent you invitations (Malleus eyeing the invitations) you some of the parties he makes, but you don't show up nor reply, making him sadden.

During a normal sunny day at school, he and Jamil headed to the library to grab some books, and during the process, he found you, tucked in a corner with mountains, upon mountains of books around you, and you? You were reading.

"Ah? S/o??"

"HEEEEK!!!!"

he startled you so badly that plants from outside grew. which of course caused a commotion.

Kalim apologised for startling you, but he asked a question about your attendance, your reply was to fiddle with your sleeves before answering with a small voice that you were afraid of people despite being a deity.

Kalim immedietly thought of Idia, but he crossed the line of no return, but Kalim smiled warmly, held your hand, making you choke, and said a more softer voice that he'd throw a smaller party, just the three of them. (Don't tell me you forgot Jamil, HE MAKES THE DANG FOOD)

You accepted.

Several parties later, you two were unsurprisingly in love with each other that the students of NRC were rolling their eyes at the moments the two shared. COULD YOU TWO DATE ALREADY!?!?

When you two started dating, Kalim made a celebration, but kept you in a more secluded section, that way you could be apart of it, but not near a large crowd of people. And you were thankful for it.

As a couple, Kalim practically adores you. And he's super affectionate too! Jalim is glad to have someone more tameable and it also makes it easier to locate Kalim if he ever goes off by himself.

𝓙𝓪𝓶𝓲𝓵 𝓥𝓲𝓹𝓮𝓻

He thought nothing of you at first.

Until you had full scores on everything.

He had requested you to help with Scarabia's studying, in offer of full meals, which you complied with due to living in a run down dorm and doesn't have a lot of money to support themselves with.

However, the study group went wrong due to the amount of people.

Jamil then figured that you didn't work too well with large numbers of people, and he found that you were slightly dependent on him when it comes to speaking.

He ended up planning smaller groups, working on those who had the worst grades then up.

And thanks to you, their dorm gradually got better.

Jamil spent time with you whenever he was free from following Kalim, and he was fairly fond of you.

You were soft, very soft, but highly reliable in terms of knowledge. So he'd often vent to you which is surprising.

But your presence and advice helped him grow better.

Jamil fell for you when he found you smiling at a Scarabia student showing you their improved grade, you looked like a warm hearted maternal parent, and his heart skipped at the sight.

When you two began dating, it was a bit rocky due to Jamil's family duty to serve the Al-Asim family. But Kalim was very kind to allow Jamil more free time, in exchange that he brings you over for more study parties!

You figured since Kalim wasn't fond of studying and more for partying, that you'd make a study party which improved Kalim's grade by ten folds. Jalim practically wept tears that the seven sent him this angel.

The Consultant

𝓐𝔃𝓾𝓵 𝓐𝓼𝓱𝓮𝓷𝓰𝓻𝓸𝓽𝓽𝓸

Azul was greedy for the power you possibly possess. and your money.

Azul underestimated you since he witnessed your lack of brains in terms of money. You forget about having your wallet on you, and whenever someone offers to pay for you, you attempt to buy everything without a single thought.

This was going to be an easy contract, Azul thought. They're an idiot, Azul thought. They can't complete this contract, Azul thought.

"I've completed my end of the contract. Now you must do yours."

"Huh? Nani?"

Azul was stupefied by this, he whipped his head towards the Leech twins, both begrudgingly nodding their heads in confirmation at the archon completing their conditions of the contract.

Azul had tried to change the details of the contract, you of course allowed it the first time.

But when you returned with the conditions once again completed, Azul tried to add more.

However, you weren't having it.

You stood up and leaned down to Azul, towering over him. A sudden pressure weighed the three mercreatures, it was heavy and foreboding. Your eyes glowed a gold with the amber ombre in your hair glowing gold as well.

"I was lenient to allow you the first time. Either fulfill your end of the deal or break the contract. But if you break the contract, you will suffer the wrath of the rock."

Azul was terrified.

When Azul fell for you, he questioned himself. How in the seven did he fall for a person like YOU!? He will never remember how, but all he knows is that he's in waaay to deep.

When you two became a couple, you were far more charasmatic and charming than before, it was like it was turned up a notch. Or two. or more...

The contract loving couple have been making more money than ever thanks to the Geo Archon, the avatar of contracts. It's either fill the conditions or suffer the wrath of the rock. Or just, don't make a contract. Simple.

But then we got the one brain cell trio doing their dumb sh**.

Jade was the first to be interested in you. But he couldn't exactly find you that well since you practically mixed with the crowd a little too well than he'd like. [Bro, Zhongli and Venti has statues of themselves around Liyue and Mondstaft, AND NO ONE MANAGES TO THINK "hmmm.. You know, he looks like one that statue there.. Wait a minute-" LIKE, SRSLY!!! Venti is more obvious, I can understand Zhongli since he wears more funeral consultant clothing, but he still somehow blends in with the crowd. Unlike a Lil wind spirit.]

But when the moment came where you made a contract, Jade was more than happy to hinder you, only for you to complete the conditions before he could figure out your plan.

After that fiasco with you giving a very large heavy warning, Jade was by your side whenever he wasn't with Floyd, questioning your knowledge, in which you were more than happy enough to comply.

Jade fell for you when you showed how competent you were unlike the other miserable guppies in school. Sure you had a few problems, but nothing with a little Jade there and everything is perfect. He also favored your knowledge, specially about fungi.

When you two became a couple, it was.. Strange to say, a air headed but scary consultant with a sadistically calm eelman? That's ringing bells for everyone.

𝓕𝓵𝓸𝔂𝓭𝓮 𝓛𝓮𝓮𝓬𝓱

Floyd had zero, zip, non, 100% no interest in you. Why? You looks, sound and seem boring. And he stand corrected.

it was later when you completed the conditions, which, not gonna lie, spooked Floyd.

"Hah?"

Later, he began to go after you like he did with Goldfish (Riddle), and when he tried to squeeze you, he found himself squeezing a shield instead.

He found himself utterly thrilled and had did several attempts at you, which failed.

His interest in you and your abilities heightened.

Then your relationship bloomed.

It was hard to say if it was romantic or platonic, but either way, Floyd was perfectly happy. Happy to have a partner who continues to show things or tell him things about their world.

As long as Floyd kept out of trouble and/or content, Jade and Azul didn't say question their relationship.

Who are you? What are you? Why are you here? What are you doing? Get out.

Leona didn't care for you, not one single bit. Until you messed with his sleep schedule due to your chaoticness.

Whenever your around, you just bring trouble with you. And he doesn't like it one bit.

And when you bring trouble, you bring noise.

Which officially ruins his nap times.

However, Leona praises and respects your prowess in battle. You always gave it your all, which he liked. You weren't holding back, which allowed him to gauge how powerful you were as a deity with or without your element.

As it turns out, you're stronger than what you make yourself out to be, but what catches Leona's attention the most, was how calculating you were. It was as if you were analyzing him

To be honest, he felt violated.

At most times, you're energetic, but when your quiet or serious, it's either pack your sh** and leave or get out of their way.

Because when your either if those, you will either send someone to the nurse with severe casualties or some of the schools property will be destroyed. And of course, there is a justified reason for this.

Other than to make Crowley very upset of course.

Leona fell for you with your strength. He loves a woman who can lead and he could just relax. Unless it comes to some other type of leadership, like in the bedroom, then that will change. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

These two are dangerous as a couple when Leona's awake and active. And when Leona's on the move, expect a gremlin to be tailing after him, and be sure to clear out of their way. Mercy didn't in their vocabulary.

Ruggie, quite literally, didn't give a rats ass about you.

To him, you were like any other beast man, rowdy and rough, other than your form that is.

But thankfully, you knew how to take care of yourself. Less work for Ruggie. I guess.

Not only that you knew how to cook. That was a god sent gift to Ruggie. Sadly though, you only know how to make mostly meat dishes. If it contains vegetables, expect the veggies to be over seasoned.

Leona was scared when he saw you in the kitchen, only to calm down seeing you being calm and not rowdy.

Ruggie fell for your cooking. He is literally the term "To get to a mans heart, you go through their stomach". although you should work on cooking vegetables better for a more healthier lifestyle.

You two are 100% besties.

You two are glued to the hip whenever you guys are free or share classes.

You both like to exercise and spar, so you two mostly go for each other.

He thought that since your a judge, you'd understand the rules, much like him. But no, you judged the rules as well, evaluating if they are fair or not.

Whenever you call out on the rules that appeared ridiculously stupid to have (like the two sugar cubes in lemon tea. That's bs to you.)

After the overblot, you were more nicer when he changed.

He stand corrected.

But he didn't mind it, he low key enjoyed arguing with you, without him screaming at you of course.

You two as a couple sends fear in everyone. A judge and a tyrant? That's a deadly combo.

Trey had taken a liking to you, seeing how similar you are to Riddle.

He enjoyed answering your questions about rules, but if there were rules he can't remember, he'd look at them with you to not only answer your question, but to commit them to memory in case.

What he's scared of is when you give trials regarding about incidents. Riddle would present his case then the 'innocent' or innocent would present theirs.

If the person is guilty, you ensure punishment, because like Riddle, you detest rule breakers unless in reason. You didn't mind them bending the rules as long as it doesn't break.

Trey is envious of your abilities, but you reassure him the his Doodle Suit is superior if you can use it against others magic.

You often praised him as well.

You admitted to thinking about a scenario of if Trey was born in Tevyat, he'd receive a hydro vision.

He flushed in response, secretly happy to have caught your attention.

You two as a couple puts everyone, minus Riddle because it's you, at ease.

Yeah, your relationship is very... Rocky and slightly concerning.

Racism in the Marvel fandom as seen through the number of fanworks per M/M ship on AO3

I talked about this on Twitter, but I'm posting it here with tweaks and additions.

A couple of notes about the ship selection process:

I focused on M/M ships here as they're the biggest and most common on AO3 overall and, for the most part, the Marvel fandom

I put aside my personal feelings, so the following selection ranges from my OTP and ships I like to ships I dislike or am squicked by and NOTPs. The big ships and crack/niche ships are ones that have the most popular male characters or I’ve seen come up the most often, but I'm sure the pattern is consistent with more minor characters and subfandoms with fewer works

I focused on ships that exist in the MCU (film side only, no TV), only or in addition to other universes, just to simplify things. The MCU fandom is the biggest, and it gets complicated once you throw in other universes considering the vastness of the Marvel multiverse

I looked at the overall fanwork count for the ships rather than fanworks for that ship in the MCU tag as people tend to miscategorize their works

As of 6/19/20:

AO3 fanworks of big MCU/MCU-based ships:

Steve/Bucky: 50,501

Steve/Tony: 36,638

Loki/Thor: 13,071

Clint/Coulson: 10,940

Loki/Tony: 9,880

The disparity between the two lists is particularly egregious when you consider:

Clint and Coulson had 17 seconds of dialogue and 7 lines with each other and never interacted again after Thor. This is a generous estimate as I included pauses

Loki and Tony haven't interacted since The Avengers

The only time Bucky and Tony as a duo and Steve, Bucky, Tony as a trio interact is in the bunker in Siberia

Spideypool includes a character who isn't even in the MCU

Ironstrange didn't exist or really exist in MCU fanworks before 2018, and Tony and Strange only communicate once in their second movie together, with Strange holding up his finger silently

Bucky and Clint never interact with each other

I’ll be focusing on the Captain America, Avengers, and Iron Man subfandoms first as those are the three biggest in the MCU. Before I start, here's my thread from last year about some of the ships I’ll be mentioning.

Okay. How does Bucky/Tony have 6,070 more fanworks than Rhodey/Tony and 4,481 more than Sam/Bucky and Bucky/Clint have 818 more than Sam/Bucky? How do Loki/Tony and Ironstrange have 8,446 and 3,410 more fanworks than Rhodey/Tony, respectively, and Stuckony almost as many as Steve/Sam?

The gap is especially glaring when you compare Steve/Bucky and Steve/Tony to Steve/Sam, Sam/Bucky, and Rhodey/Tony; however, though it's important to point out that wide gulf, I lose my mind more over the fact that ships with white characters who have never interacted or only exchanged a few lines (Clint/Coulson never even STAND IN THE SAME ROOM, and they're one of the top ships!) have more fanworks than ships with POC who do or have potential.

I will point out that at least with the MCU Spider-Man and Black Panther fandoms, you do see some diversity with their big ships (I’m including some M/F ships here to make a point in the next paragraph). MJ/Peter has 3,518 fanworks, and in addition to the two T’Challa ships above, Nakia/T’Challa has 286, MJ/Shuri 220, Bucky/Shuri 210, and Peter/Shuri 140 (Black Panther is a much smaller fandom, but some ship numbers are higher if you put BP and non-BP characters together, e.g., Tony/T’Challa (405) and Bucky/T’Challa (345).

It's important to note, however, that these two films are significantly more racially diverse than all other MCU films; in fact, they're very much the outliers. These ships and Ned/Peter are also heavy indicators of racism in this fandom. These numbers are very low compared to the big ships, and there are fewer works for these fandoms especially in BP’s case. Additionally, ships with white non-BP characters rank second, third, sixth, and eighth in the fandom (Bucky isn’t a BP character as he is only in the post-credits scene). Nakia/T’Challa is canon but outranked by Tony/T’Challa and Bucky/T’Challa, and all other ships with only BP characters, not listed here as the numbers are much lower other than M’Baku/T’Challa (second-lowest among the listed), are outranked by all the ships with white non-BP characters.

To sum up everything I said above:

white M/M ships are extremely overrepresented by a huge margin, even if they have little to no canonical basis

interracial ships are poorly represented even if the characters have meaningful relationships or potential (and even if they clearly have all the traits that would ensure that they would be a big ship had the character of color been white)

the ships with the least representation by a longggggg mile are ones that involve only POC. Their fanwork count is, aside from Erik/T’Challa (578), in the low 100s and 200s. Countless ships are below the 100 mark.

If you want to make this even more infuriating, here's a random selection of white (or in one case, AI) crack ships and ships that are more niche that I’ve seen to compare to the ships of color above:

Clint/Tony: 1,423

Loki/Steve: 1,251

Clint/Steve: 986

Bucky/Rumlow: 984

Clint/Pietro: 837

Hydrahusbands: 770

Grandmaster/Loki: 633

Steve/Rumlow: 547

Steve/Howard: 457

JARVIS/Tony: 414

And just for the hell of it because Darcy, a minor character who appears in only two movies and last appeared in 2013, shows up all the time in MCU fanworks (17,004 (these include ones where she’s not paired with anyone)) and is probably one of the top three or four little black dresses/fandom bicycles:

Darcy/Steve: 3,013

Darcy/Bucky: 2,640

Darcy/Loki: 1,558

Darcy/Clint: 1,107

Darcy/Steve/Bucky: 676

Darcy/Tony: 326

The Darcy situation is a post for another day (she has more fanworks than all other female characters except ~3 women), but in the context of this post, it’s absurd that nearly all of the non-canonical ships above which feature characters whom Darcy has never interacted with (I don’t even remember if Darcy interacted with Loki) have more fanworks than the listed ships of color.

That said, if you like the aforementioned white M/M ships, even if they have little to no canonical basis, that's okay. Anything goes in fandom. It IS a problem, though, if you have more than one ship, but ALL of them are white M/M ships or, if you like F/F and M/F, those are also all white. If you only create and consume works for a single ship, which a good number of people do (many people only get into a fandom because of an OTP!), it's fine if it's a white M/M ship. Honestly, it’s not that surprising either considering most of the screen time and meaty development is given to white characters because of racism (that's a post for another day). However, it IS a problem if most or all of your other ships across your current and previous fandoms are white—and if the only media you consume is predominantly or all white.

This post is longer than planned, but tl;dr, fandom has a racism problem which is nothing new, and we should all examine the following and see and remedy any implicit biases that we have:

our feelings about different characters and relationships, both platonic and romantic

our decision whether or not to seek or make content with characters of color. This includes content with your white ships that have POC in the work because sometimes every other white character in the MCU show up except them or all of them play bigger roles than the POC despite their relationship with the protagonist(s)

the way we interpret and write/draw those characters. For example, is Sam a yes-man? An unofficial or official therapist for white friends? The bro who cracks jokes and/or gives sage advice but seems to not have any flaws, struggles, or life of his own outside of his white friends? The BFF who thinks his white best friend is being dumb about another white guy and wants them to get their act together already?)

Okey serious question here. How much do you actually believe that Oda ships Frobin? Like do you think he actually have like doodles/sketchs of them in a pairing kind of way? like for the strong world film riding the motorbug? (Personally i would love it to be true but he has stated one piece isn't about romance in that way)

Hey there anon! Thank you so much for your question and I hope I can answer it seriously enough. Also once more sorry for the late response. I felt like a question like that needs some research and that is what I did these last few days.

So... I think I'll start with the tl;dr because that way people can read that and ignore the rest.

So, long answer short: I 100% believe that Oda has one or more sketchbooks with drawings of his characters that are absolutely self-indulgent. I am 98% sure that he has drawn Franky and Robin in a romantic way at least once (and supported the ship). I am 80% sure he still is shipping FRobin.

Little disclaimer: I actually have no idea if any of this is true. I pull everything in my arguments out of my own experiences and knowledge and since I'm not a 46 year old Japanese Mangaka my perspective might be WAY OFF.

So, why do I think that Oda has a secret sketchbook?

Simple answer is that he is an artist. He is drawing a lot and no artist will publish everything. That can have multiple reasons like imposter syndrome or because the artist thinks it’s not good or interesting enough or they just forget. There are even more reasons I forget and every person has their own.

For Oda I can imagine two big reasons as to why he would keep secret sketchbooks.

First: He is a horndog. You can skip this part if you don’t want to read about it, to the second reason.

Anyway, we know thanks to answers in the SBS, the way he likes to draw big-breasted women and how some of his characters are classified as perverts that he can be considered one too.

Let me show you a few of a few lewd SBS questions he likes to answer in a funny way:

Nowadays I’m sure there is a focus on those lewder questions compared to the beginning because that is what 13 year old boys laugh about and we all know that is Oda's main demographic (of course).

So, Oda is a man who likes beautiful women and who draws.

Coming to the conclusion that he will draw his own characters in suggestive poses, naked and even doing adult stuff is not hard.

Obviously he would not show these sketches just around. He would probably keep them in a secret sketchbook that he keeps at a safe location. Maybe his wife and some close friends know about it? Maybe it is his and only his little secret.

I don’t think it would be unlikely to learn about this years into the future, maybe the next generation of Anime Fans will hear about this.

And it would not be the first time that something like this happened.

Not that long ago the daughter of Osamu Tezuka - groundbreaking Mangaka, known for his works of “Astro Boy”, “Kimba the white lion” and many more - found his adult Furry art. Source; Japanese article;

It’s a fact that many Mangaka did indeed start their career with art of the more risque kind and/or as doujinshi artists.

So again, I have no doubt that Oda, a known pervert, has one or more secret sketchbooks with „the p0rnography“ in it. Is there only hot stuff in there? Not necessarily.

The second reason to keep a secret sketchbook would be to collect information in there, that could be considered canon but he is not willing to use it in the Manga. Maybe they are not important enough or will be used later.

What am I imagining here? Anything that could be considered too weird for the normal sketchbook but isn‘t too risque. Funny things that might still not be „appropriate.“

Like a sketch of the male Strawhat ding-dongs with the sizes beside it. All the lewd jokes the fans did about Luffy's stretching qualities? I’m sure Oda thought about them too and drew that in the past if he had the time and it made him laugh enough.

But also maybe there are scenes in there that never made it in the Manga. The Strawhats interacting with each other in their daily lives, ideas for colorspreads and maybe chapter-titles. Oda probably has noted/sketched down a lot of unofficial stuff somewhere.

Another example, even an artist like Oda himself would have needed to exercise drawing two people kissing. Why not use Characters he thinks that might work out together?

Why not Franky and Robin? I would imagine he sketched up a few panels of Franky and Robin having a romantic date, going shopping together in Dressrosa, having a conversation that we never got to see because it was too on the nose.

Which brings us to the second point of me being very sure that Oda had drawn FrankyXRobin at one point.

I’m sure in those sketchbooks there is at least one drawing of them doing anything couple-related together. Again it does not have to be downright nasty but it could be them holding hands, kissing or even just Robin leaning onto Franky while reading, like all those fanarts that exist out there.

It’s not hard to imagine. Even for other Characters I think that is possible

And there might even be proof for that idea. The sketch of the Strong World movie you also mentioned, anon. The one movie that can be considered canon is Strong World. It was basically written/directed by Oda. Shiki the antagonist had an appearance in the Manga.

This sketch is drawn by Oda. Robin is holding onto Franky.

Can it be read as romantic? Yes. Can it be read as Robin holding onto Franky because there is nothing else to hold onto? Also Yes. But couldn't she just have used her power to keep herself secured on the bike without holding onto Franky? WELL YES. Could Oda never have thought in these circles like I do right now? I hope he did not because I hate it and I don’t wish it upon him.

In the movie Robin is NOT holding onto Franky. Now the really interesting thing - that is neither proof pro nor anti FRobin - is that we can see the sketch provided by Oda as a “between the scenes”.

In the movie Strong World the old trio is collecting information at the Pirate assembly. The next time we see them they use the Batta GT-7000 to slowly approach the destroyed village, which had been ravaged by the animals, and start to look for their friends. No need to hold onto Franky and no need for Brook to lean back. They are looking around.

The sketch is clearly not the same scene as the one we see in the movie.

In conclusion the drawing is indeed a between the scenes drawing. And yes if there exists one, who is to say there aren’t more?

Talking about Animal-Bikes...

Is there any meaning about the fact that in the opening scene (that is part of the talked intro after the opening ‘We Go’ - a huge thanks to antiherofangirl, ccb0nnet, JFL_Estudios and Maems, over at twitter!) Franky and Robin build another grasshopper-based vehicle? Maybe not but I still feel like it’s quite a callback.

Where did the idea to put this in the beginning come from? a) an editor had the idea inspired by Strong World; b) maybe it’s another sketch that Oda provided.

Neither seems very far-fetched in my opinion.

So yes, I am very sure that Oda has drawn things that we would consider FRobin.

Now to the last point (the first being Oda having a secret sketchbook, the second me arguing that Oda might have drawn FRobin).

As I said in the beginning I’m very sure that at one point Oda did and kinda that he still does ship Franky and Robin. Because even though every Interaction of two characters can be depicted as romantic or platonic, Oda used ROMANTIC TROPES with Franky and Robin.

They have never kissed on screen but we had

finishing each other's sentences

coordinated clothes

one using the others lap as pillow

hand on cheek caressing

and we can’t forget that Robin had answered Franky's invitation to ride on another animal-themed bike with a heart.

Edit: I didn‘t say anything about „no romance in OP“ so ask again if you want me to talk a bit about that. Sorry!

Those are things an author of Oda's level would not write or draw without being aware about how teasing this is. He has to be aware that every single line he draws will be analyzed to the end of the universe and back. People earn money by saying their opinion and interpretations about the Manga on Youtube.

These interactions are not something outlandish like “There was once an Anime Scene in which Robin was wearing something blue and exactly 28 episodes later Franky was wearing something violet and then 39 episodes later they both stood beside each other for exactly 69 seconds.”

Whenever I think about these facts, things that are not about interpreting but are factual, black ink on white paper but also about the little things, about how Frank and Robin help each other to become better, how they support each other… I want to say YES! ODA IS 100% on board! While in reality I’m 80% sure and 20% of me is wondering if I’m not actually analyzing too much into it. If maybe he really is abandoning ship. Maybe I will become the person who will curse his name and throw my Mangas and fanfictions in an active volcano?

I don’t know and it’s impossible to say what is going to happen.

And with that I've concluded this answer, and it only took me around 2k words and four days.

midmonth recap 3

hello everyone! this was gonna be our last midmonth recap, but due to the bingo’s extension, we’re going to get one more! woot!

for this recap we have a crap ton of fic and a lovely (if smaller) pool of art!

She Chose You, Moony Pt. 13

Paring: Remus Lupin x Daughter! Reader, Fred Weasley x Reader, George Weasley x Reader (platonic)

Summary: Y/n is now in her third year and Fred is in his 4th. Over the years the two’s friendship developed into something a little more, but Y/n would rather keep it quiet when it comes to her dad. (Voldy doesn’t exist in this. He just kinda failed as a teen and died, so he won’t be a problem.)

Warnings: kinda long, cussing?, that’s about all I can remember, maybe some overprotective dadness

Y/n sat in the library studying for her classes. Well, at least she was trying, focusing wasn’t easy, and she knew it wasn’t going to get better when her best friends walked in.

Fred and George looked around and spotted Y/n and walked over. They took a seat on either side of her.

“Guys I’m trying to study.” Y/n said.

“Yeah, well, you never end up doing that do you.” Fred said laying his head down on her shoulder.

“What do you guys want?” She asked.

“Help with a prank.” George said quietly.

“Why do you need me?” She asked.

“Beacuse your an amazing pranker, and your incredibly smart and creative.” They said.

Y/n sighed and smiled and nodded.

“Alright, what can I do?” Y/n asked.

Y/n finished helping the boys with their plan, and it was set in motion to happen tonight.

“Alright thank you.” George said.

“We’ll meet you tonight.” Fred added.

The two boys stood up and left together. I sighed as I opened my book back and started to think about the plan.

It was now late at night, and way past curfew. Y/n was meeting Fred and George in the potions room.

They were going to prank Snape because he was a complete and under dick to his students.

Y/n arrived at the class room and peaked the door open and looked inside. The coast was clear.

She walked in and closed the door behind her. That’s when she felt someone grab her, she immediately turned around and went to punch them but they caught her first just in time.

Y/n soon calmed down when she saw Fred, and George just behind him.

“Calm down there, love.” Fred said.

Y/n sighed in relief.

“Don’t scare me like that.” I said.

“Were so sorry, now hurry.” George said.

I pulled everything out of my bag. Fred and I worked on the dungbomb and George worked on the door.

“Shit.” I said.

“What?” Fred asked.

“I forgot the lighter.” Y/n said.

“How are we gunna set the dungbomb off than?” George asked.

“I’ll be back in a second.” Y/n said before she snuck out the door.

Y/n quietly made her way back, but heard footsteps. She sped up but was grabbed and pulled away.

The person pulled them against the wall with a pillar covering them. Y/n started to struggle.

“Shhh, it’s Fred.” She heard Fred say.

She calmed down and saw from around the corner, snape walk by looking for students.

After he was gone fred let go of Y/n and she turned around to face him.

“What did I say earlier!” Y/n scolded.

“Sorry, but I wasn’t going to let you go alone.” Fred said.

“You’re annoying.” Y/n replied.

“Good, that’s my specialty.” He replied.

There was a moment of silence. The door looked at each other as the moon peered in from the window like structure next to them.

“We should-.” Fred had cut her off by leaning and kissing her. The kiss lasted a while, but eventually they pulled apart.

“That was-.” “Wicked.” Fred finished.

The pair laughed and hugged.

“Dating?” Fred asked. Y/n nodded with a chuckle

“We should get back to Fred.” Y/n spoke up.

Fred pouted.

“Aww don’t make that face, I’ll sneak you into my commons room so we can hang out tomorrow.” Y/n promised.

“Ok!” Fred said now with a big grin on his face.

Fred and Y/n arrived back in Snapes room with Fred.

“Why are you two so smiley?” George asked.

“Nothing.” Y/n said.

George eyed them suspiciously. He knew something was off with them, one was his brother and the other was his best friend, he something. Was up.

That’s when it clicked. His mouth dropped and then went to a smile.

“You guys finally kisssed didn’t you?” George asked.

“Maybe.” Y/n admitted.

“Awe Freddie, you finally made move.” George said proudly.

“Shut up.” Fred said jokingly.

The trio finished the prank and snuck their way back to their dorms for the night.

It was now the next day, and the twins and Y/n walked into potions.

She took her seat next to Fred and George. At the table next to them was Harry, Ron, and Hermione.

Snape walked into the room and over to Y/n.

“Y/n Lupin.” Snape said aggravated.

“Yeah?” Y/n asked.

“Do you think you clever, releasing a dungbomb in my class room after hours?” He asked.

“I don’t know what your talking about?” Y/n said acting clueless.

“It’s not hard to dicipher. You were clearly upset when I talked to Potter, yesterday.” He said with disgust.

Y/n went to defend herself but was beat to the opportunity.

“She didn’t I did.” Fred stepped in.

“Oh how very Gryffindor of you Mr. Weasley, taking the fall for you friend.” Snape said

“I’m not stupid-.” “No really it was me. Y/n and Harry of my friends and I saw they were angry so I decided to get back at you.” Fred half lied with no problem.

“Well than Mr. Weasley, detention till the last day.” Snape said before walking away.

He knew maybe the twins had something to do with it but Y/n was 100% guilty. He was determined to get her in trouble.

Remus, Lily, James, and Sirius all hung out at Sirius and Remus 3 bedroom house. It was after work and they all needed a break.

They were just laughing and having fun until and owl came flying to the window.

“Who’s that from?” James asked.

Remus stood up and opened the window and grabbed the letter. The owl than flew away.

Remus looked down at the letter and sighed.

“It’s from Hogwarts.” Remus replied.

He opened it up and looked at who it was from.

“Oh it’s from one of your favorite people James.” Remus said sarcastically.

James made a confused face.

“From Severus Snape.” Remus read.

James rolled his eyes.

“What does he want?” He asked.

“Dear, Mr. Lupin. I’m writing to inform you a dungbomb was released in my room, as well as a firework door trap. Y/n was upsets with me previously and I had spotted her very, very briefly roaming about after hours the night before. Her friend Fred Weasley took the blame, however, you and I both know she was the guilty one. Please push accordingly.” Remus read.

“Dungbomb and a firework door?” Sirius asked impressed.

“Ugh, they grow up so fast.” James said wiping a fake tear away.

Remus stood frozen looking down at the letter.

“Oh common Remus don’t be angry, we did it all the time. Kids will be kids.” Sirius said putting his arm around Remus.

“She didn’t tell me she had a male friend.” Remus said.

Lily chuckled and rolled her eyes.

“She set off a dungbomb and firework inside of a classroom and your focused on her friends?” Lily asked.

“Why wouldn’t she tell me about her friends though. Like is she hiding something?” Remus asked.

“Maybe she has a crush on him.” Sirius said.

“She’s 14, what 14 year old has a crush, or thinks about dating?” Remus asked

“Me.” Sirius said

“Me.” James added.

“Me.” Lily also said.

“You.” The three of them said.

“It’s different, she’s not allow to think of that.” Remus said.

“Remus she’s a teenager. Teenagers have crushes, it’s apart of growing up. She gunna start dating soon enough.” Lily said.

“Not on my watch.” Remus said.

“Lily has a point.” James said.

“What!?” Remus asked.

“Listen I’ll kill anyone that hurts her. But she’s gotta grow up and if that means a boyfriend or two, so be it.” James said.

“No, your supposed to be on my side.” Remus said.

“Calm down, Remus, she’ll be fine.” Sirius said patting him on the back.

Harry and Y/n had just gotten back from Hogwarts for their summer vacation.

Harry and Y/n sat in the living room catching up with their parents and uncles.

However, Remus was pretty quiet.

“You ok dad?” Y/n asked.

“Snape sent me a letter telling me about what happened with your prank.” Remus said.

Y/n cringed thinking she was about to get in trouble.

“Who’s Fred Weasley?” He asked.

In that moment Y/n froze and wished he’d just yell at her.

“He’s one of the Weasley twins, hes the older brother of Harry’s friend Ron. He’s my friend.” Y/n answered shyly.

“Why have you not mentioned them before?” He asked.

“Thought I did.” Y/n answered.

“You’re lying you know you haven’t.” Remus said.

“Im just gunna head to my room.” Y/n said as she got up.

“What no, I’m not done.” Remus said.

“Leave her be.” Lily said as Y/n snuck off.

Y/n walked in and sat on her bed drawing in a sketch book her dad bought her.

The door open and she expect to see her father but was instead greeted by Harry.

“Hey.” Y/n said.

“Hey.” Harry said walking in and closing the door.

Once he closed the door he jumped on her bed.

“So, you and Fred have been getting close.” Harry started.

Y/n rolled her eyes. Harry chuckled.

“Common don’t think I, Harry Potter, someone who’s practically your brother, wouldn’t notice. Or Ron. You’re our siblings we can see it.” Harry said.

“But we’re still wondering, if it’s actually happening?” Harry asked.

“Shut up.” Y/n replied.

“I’m not gunna tell Uncle Remus obviously.” Harry said.

Y/n sighed and though about it for a moment.

“Fine.” She said.

She leaned over and whispered what happened.

“Finally! Ron, Hermione and I have been waiting ages.” Harry said.

“Shhh.” Y/n shushed.

“I’m happy for you. But I’ll have to kill him if he hurts you.” He said.

“I know. And he won’t.” Y/n assured.

Remus finally had enough and went to his daughters room and leaned his head against it.

Every word that was said was muffled and he couldn’t tell what it was.

He managed to make out a few words but he was pulled away.

“Remus!” Lily scolded.

“What?” He asked innocently.

“Give them privacy.” She said.

“Yeah Remus!” James shouted from the kitchen.

“Shut up!” Lily yelled back.

“What if they’re talking about Fred?” He asked.

“Than you let them talk about him in private, now let’s go.” She said pulling him away.

Remus sighed and followed Lily to the kitchen. He may not know now but he’s determined to know all about Fred and Y/n’s relationship.

A/N; hi. i have no clue where this idea came from. i don’t know why my brain always tells me to start more red velvet series’ randomly. but here is the latest spawn from it. this will have more parts to it because i’m interested in expanding on the dynamics of this trio plus i signed up for things that have since blown up my emails for this because i’m dedicated like that. anyway! enjoy. or don’t. idk anymore.

It was only a suggestion. A quick mention, really. “There’s this site, Seungwan,” is how it started. Except for that brief conversation spiraled rapidly into a whirlwind of curiosity and excitement. Perhaps, discussing the lack of sex life and the frustration that comes with that whilst you’re supposed to be busy working on the latest financial development wasn’t the smartest move, and yet, the conversation ended in a better resolution than she imagined when Joohyun had managed to pry the information out of her about why she’s been so on edge lately.

On edge being both literal and metaphorical. Getting to the high is easy, however, toppling over into the rush of being able to feel the full experience of pleasure has been evading her for the last few weeks now. Nothing seems to do the trick and though you may think it’d be fun to simply keep trying, it’s starting to become an issue with the more extreme methods she attempts. So, it desperately needs to be fixed, just not in front of all of her colleagues who are idly typing away the dull workday.

The rest of the day drags along. Nothing particularly interesting happens which Seungwan is grateful for, she could do without the extra stress. Though, she’s sure the new sponsorship to promote a dead-end product that everyone had warned their boss about will cause a headache in the future, she ignores the nagging feeling in the back of her mind. Joohyun was kind enough to buy dinner for the both of them which her stomach is currently grateful for as she’s certain her fridge at home is empty. But, watching her friend and colleague suckle on the ice cream bar she purchased for herself should not have resulted in her needing to press her legs together on instinct.

Joohyun didn’t notice, or if she did, she didn’t say anything and continued to lap her tongue across the cold strawberry flavored ice cream. Probably for the best. Nothing good ever comes from getting too involved with people you have to work alongside every day, even if that person does look like Aphrodite herself. The awkward looks between you both, everyone else knowing that the two of you have slept together but are now deciding on which color scheme to use for an advertisement, it just isn’t something that Seungwan wants to deal with. So, she and Joohyun will have to remain platonic. Unfortunately.

It’s late by the time she gets home. The hallway lights leading up to the apartment door flicker every few seconds and the apartment across the hall has the television turned up loud enough that Seungwan is sure they’re trying to let those in hell hear the latest episode of whichever show they’re currently watching. The keys in her hand rattle as she unlocks the stiff door that barely wants to open anymore. The loudness doesn’t disappear once she closes it behind her but it’s home and somewhere she can erase the feeling of being stuck, in more ways than one.

The latest routine of ordering in unhealthy food that is slowly destroying her insides, a cold shower to wash away some of the exhaustion, and then listening to the same songs for about an hour feels almost robotic but it’s what she’s grown used to now. Once the darkness begins to creep in across the apartment, cold air making the hairs on her arm stand to attention and the neighbors suddenly growing quiet, it’s the small bed in the corner of the room that calls out and the only thing echoing inside her head.

Well, it would be, had she not suddenly recalled Joohyun’s description of a site where many people frolic and entertain those who perhaps need a little extra help with their more sinful needs. She moves on auto-pilot toward the jacket hanging on the coat rack and reaches into the left side pocket for the small piece of paper where only the web address is scrawled upon it in Joohyun’s perfect handwriting. The laptop she bought years before and barely runs anymore rests on the dining table she never sits at, closed, and with a line of dust taking up home upon it. Grabbing it, she plops herself down onto the bed after removing her dressing gown and the towel around her hair which has long since dried and throwing it into a corner of the room to be cleaned up tomorrow.

Her fingers trace the keyboard idly, never pressing in a single key, simply going back and forth over the letters whilst her brain tries to decipher if this is something she wants to try out.

“Fuck it.” She thinks. Soon enough, the site is loading, slowly, and asking for her to confirm she is of legal age to enter it.

The screen finally loads and brings up a bunch of profiles under the “popular” banner. To say that the sight of all the various people before her is overwhelming would be an understatement. A sidebar reveals that she can choose a category as well as filter out specific things that are not of her interest. Some of the categories are the standard you would expect, for example, she immediately filters to only see profiles of women. However, others are a little more out there and specific toward what Seungwan assumes are people’s fetishes. A lot of them are things that she would never consider a person could find interesting sexually, and yet, the option is right before her. She ignores the curious voice inside of her head telling her to click on some of them.

A screen full of women now presents itself in front of her. All of them are beautiful and there’s a whole variety to choose from. The profile pictures range from selfies where they’re simply smiling to some of them being without clothing whatsoever. She scrolls for quite some time simply admiring all of the choices before her until one, in particular, captures her attention.

Wide dark eyes with hair of the same shade of brown, plump lips that are sporting a small smirk that’s both enticing and teasing. Part of the girl’s neck is on display for Seungwan to imagine herself kissing and biting softly. Without hesitation, she hovers over the username and clicks onto the profile.

“xNotYourJoyx” she repeats mentally a few times.

The next page reveals a sign-up box that doesn’t allow Seungwan to venture any further. She’s quick to type in her email address, a username not as clever as she would like and the same password she uses for everything else. The next step is to add her bank details in order to be able to subscribe to various pages. She hesitates at this portion realizing that it’s probably very easy for people to fall too far down this rabbit hole. Thus she promises herself not to subscribe to anything until she’s 100% sure.

After completing her profile, she’s brought back to the girl she assumes is named Joy or at least uses that name here. Her subscription rate is the first thing to appear. Her price is low Seungwan thinks, around $10 when she was expecting something far higher based on the type of content Joohyun had told her the people on the site create. The next part is an Amazon wishlist with various items in it ranging from hair extensions, expensive perfume, and medical equipment? She must be a nurse, Seungwan thinks.

Further down the page reveals a VIP service which is more expensive than the standard subscription but allows for you to request specific pictures or videos. There are rules that come along with it which Seungwan reads multiple times over.

Don’t ask me to say or tell you anything personal about me, we are not friends. You don’t know me like that.

No, you can’t have my Instagram or any other social media so don’t ask.

Don’t be a dick.

“Well, that clears that up I guess.” She thinks.

For the next ten minutes, Seungwan simply scrolls through the free content on offer from Joy. A few shots of her without clothes but covering her body up with her hands or a sheet, all of which look professionally done which is surprising. She’s captivated and drawn in by this girl a lot quicker than she thought she would be, she can see why Joohyun would recommend such a thing to her now. The possibilities are endless and there are no strings attached. It’s an ideal situation for both parties.

Despite making the promise to herself, she’s quick to subscribe to Joy’s feed but ignores the large “upgrade to VIP” logo that’s glistening in gold below the payment button. It would seem strange or suspicious surely to her if someone new to her profile was suddenly paying for the premium option Seungwan tries to logic with herself.

A few seconds pass as the page reloads itself before finally Joy’s profile is unlocked for Seungwan’s eyes to devour. The same type of photos as previously, however, without anything covering herself up. The same natural reaction to jam her thighs together that she felt earlier with Joohyun ends up happening again except this time she positions her hand under the waistband of her bed shorts.

The further she explores everything Joy has posted the more the need to be touched becomes overwhelming Before she knows it her fingers are gently caressing her soft skin slowly yet with desperation. Many of the images have comments from other people praising the effortless beauty that Joy manages to convey with ease. Seungwan thinks that Joy must be someone with great confidence to display herself so openly like this. She wishes she too were able to picture herself in the way that Joy likely does.

Her body aches for some release but once more she’s not able to reach the peak as the page of images suddenly comes to an end. Once more, the gold button for premium appears and tells Seungwan she’s reached the limit of what she can see. A blurring effect does a good job of hiding what follows next, however, what it doesn’t do is stop her from being enticed further when she spots that Joy has also uploaded videos of herself, they are simply hidden from those on the basic subscription as her.

Almost sub-consciously she finds herself going against every warning sign inside of her mind telling her that paying to watch Joy rather than just look at her is a bad decision, one she will definitely come to regret or become too attached to doing, and yet, it’s too late once she’s confirmed the upgrade and clicked onto the first video that appears.

White background, likely a wall in her home, Seungwan thinks, until finally the girl steps into the frame with yet another smirk on her lips.

“Hello, welcome to premium. Thank you for subscribing. I hope you enjoy all of the videos and pictures that only a select few of you will ever get to see. If you’re feeling even more generous please be sure to check out my wishlist. Now, let’s have fun together.”

Her voice is silky smooth, Seungwan thinks. She replays the simple video a few times just to hear her make this decision sound like she’s part of an exclusive club where only she is invited, though, she’s aware that isn’t true at all. Joy likely has a ton of people paying to see the most intimate parts of her. The comments on this simple welcoming video are at 59 which means at least that many people have also fallen into the trap, though if Joy is the prize, Seungwan wonders if be tricked into paying extra like this is worth it in the end.

She decides to read through some of them just to get a sense of how people communicate with her here.

The compliment is definitely correct and deserving of a reply, yet, Seungwan wishes she were the one to tell Joy such things and have her respond solely to her. Jealousy is a green-eyed monster and though she probably shouldn’t be feeling it toward a complete stranger, she does. The sound of the keys as she types out her own comment with her free hand that hasn’t been teasing herself is the only thing she can hear now. Not even the wind outside is able to pierce her eardrums and break her from this spell that Joy has put her under.

It’s simple and Seungwan hates it, but she simply must tell this girl something, anything, in hopes that she sees it and feels happy to be complimented.

Silence now, nothing but the screen before her for light inside the cold bedroom. The list of videos, 71 in total, tempting Seungwan, taunting almost. Her left hand numb now from just resting against her own body whilst her right-hand clicks onto the next one in the list after the welcoming video.

The same white background, however, Joy is positioned in the video as soon as it starts this time. Laying down on a black crushed velvet sofa in only her underwear. Her right hand gently caressing her breasts as she grunts out a few low moans. Her left hand in a similar position to where Seungwan is resting her own. The tired and slow circles in which she moves her hand causes her eyes to roll into the back of her head as Seungwan changes her own pace to match that of Joy’s on the screen.

Her bed creaks with every movement of Joy’s that she mimics, the headboard bashing against the wall behind her whenever Joy quickens her pace and then sounds like a light drumming whenever she slows. The neighbor next door has definitely been awakened by the rhythmic sound of Seungwan rocking her body against her fingers.

“You’re enjoying this, huh?” The words surprise Seungwan out of her reverie as it’s as if Joy is present and asking her specifically and knowing that she too is pleasuring herself as she is doing. Without even thinking she manages to gasp out a yes in reply that only she can hear, yet gains a response from Joy almost like she can magically hear her. “I wish I could watch you touch yourself to me.” she pauses to lowly moan. “For me.”

The pressure rises between her thighs once more except this time her body allows her to release every bit of tension she’s had to keep trying to get rid of for weeks. Her entire body collapses against itself as she indulges herself in what she’s convinced is the longest orgasm to ever exist. Her legs shaking wildly as her arm tenses up and flex to make sure she feels every bit of her undoing. The sound of Joy finishing up her own continues to play in the background for further motivation but the deed has already been done.

She rests momentarily, staring up at the ceiling as gentle pants fill the room both from herself and the laptop. Nothing else in the world matters at this very moment. However, once more Joy manages to surprise Seungwan with her telepathic way of just knowing somehow when to speak to her viewer.

“Thank you for that, I hope you come back soon for more.” and then the video ends.

A dark screen replacing the beautiful image of Joy just as spent as Seungwan feels. But, now she’s left to think about everything that has just transpired between herself, the screen and a girl she doesn’t even know. Guilt wells up in her chest and she slams the screen shut almost shattering the glass. “Why did you do this?” is the only thing that repeats inside of her mind. No longer focused on the pulsating feeling against her hand as she pulls it out of her shorts too fast and whips herself with the waistband which will no doubt sting in the morning.

Her legs shakily drag her body to the bathroom almost tripping over various clothes that have sat there waiting to be cleaned for way too long now. She turns on the shower for the second time tonight and steps into it, almost falling immediately. The cold water shocks her body into feeling something other than the after-effects of pleasuring herself. Scrubbing every inch of her body intensely and repeating inside of her mind that she’ll cancel the subscription tomorrow and never do anything like this ever again. She can’t. Joy is a stranger and she shouldn’t be doing these things.

By the time she’s finished almost burning her skin with the washcloth to make sure she’s rid herself of her sins and changing her fair skin to a reddish shade, the clock on the bedside table shows that there are only three hours before she’s due to wake up for work. The bed seems tainted now, so she grabs the blanket and sleeps on the sofa that is far less comfortable.

Joohyun is definitely going to ask her about whether or not she used the site, definitely going to notice the dark circles under her eyes from the lack of sleep and will definitely draw up her own conclusion anyway no matter what her answer is. She tries her best not to think about any of this but there’s just a constant loop of the images of Joy, the sound of her voice, and the way she encouraged Seungwan to feel again.

She dreams of dark hair and brown eyes that night and moans that could be the most heavenly sound in the world or a new addiction that Seungwan isn’t ready for but may not have a choice but to indulge in it.

I knew that Ao no Flag was ending soon, but I didn’t expect chapter 53 to straight up be the second-to-last one, lol.

Anyway this chapter was fucking WILD and I legit have no idea how it’s going to end now.

This is also a good time to do my monthly reminder that volume 1 is going to be coming out in English in April, a few weeks after the final chapter comes out.

Thoughts under the cut.

I guess it should have been pretty obvious that this whole trip to visit Touma would be The Big Emotional Climax [tm] of the manga, but I still thought we’d have slightly more to go. I’m not complaining, though, and I don’t necessarily think the ending feels rushed. The time skip is kinda jarring, but that’s just because I didn’t see it coming. It makes a lot of sense that we’d get a big time-skip epilogue after the main drama between the main trio was wrapped up.

I think one reason why I thought we had slightly more left to the story was because volume 8 looks like it’s now going to cover chapters 49 to 54, which is six chapters, compared to how most volumes have had seven chapters thus far. It’s entirely possible that the final chapter’s going to be longer than normal, though.

Anyway, the bulk of this chapter was basically what I expected, but it was still really heartwarming. I still hope that certain things with characters like Masumi get resolved in the final chapter, but it made sense to have this chapter be entirely focused on the main trio, and how they more or less resolved the emotional tension between them.

There was something almost anti-climactic about it, but there were only so many ways it could have gone, and as the end of the chapter spelled out, it’s not like everything was suddenly perfect between them after that point.

It was a little annoying how in spite of what Taichi said about wanting to have a proper conversation with Touma, we didn’t actually get to see Touma talk very much. But oh well. We’ll probably see more of him in the final chapter as well.

For better or worse, the whole scene of the three of them at the beach together shouting ‘I love you’ into the sea was really cute. And then all that heartwarming teenage emotional sincerity gets stopped dead in it’s tracks with the sequence of time-skips where we immediately find out that Taichi and Futaba broke up a few years later and then years after that he gets invited to her wedding, lol.

Not to be extremely biased on main or anything but I feel slightly . . . validated by the reveal that their relationship didn’t last long. Something about it always felt a bit superficial and childish. But in a normal, realistic sort of way.

I’m kinda curious to see who Futaba ended up married to, even if they’re just some random person we haven’t seen before. In my heart of hearts I want her to have ended up with Masumi, if only to help make up for Masumi’s lack of character development and emotional resolution, but even if we ignore the fact that, y’know, Japan hasn’t really legalized same-sex marriage yet, it’s probably a bit of a pipedream anyway.

Honestly anything would be fine as long as she didn’t end up marrying Touma, lmao. That’d basically cause me to immediately regret ever having read the series. But I think that’s pretty unlikely. I think she probably just ended up meeting someone during the whole time-skip period who we haven’t seen before.

The final chapter’s still probably going to give a run-down of where all of the important characters are at this point in time, though, so hopefully one way or another we’ll get some resolution for characters like Masumi.

I’m really curious to see how things turned out with Taichi after he broke up with Futaba. There’s some visual hints that he’s currently living with someone, but he might just have a room-mate and there’s nothing noteworthy going on there.

Is it too much of a pipe dream to hope that he and Touma actually ended up dating as the years went on? lol

I wouldn’t be surprised if the two of them are just, like, totes 100% platonic roomies now, but that’d feel a little bit awkward, all things considered. It’s one thing to have them just be friends with each other from that point on, but still.

One way or another it’d be nice if we find out that Touma got himself a boyfriend. I’d feel kinda depressed if both him and Masumi ended up single. The dude deserves SOMETHING after all the shit he got put through in the main story.

There’s really just not much to go on at this point, though, so basically we’re all just left to speculate about how we hope things ended up for everyone after this whole time-skip, and we have to just wait until next month to see how it all wraps up.

The final chapter has a lot of potential to completely taint my enjoyment of the series as a whole, but with how things stand now, I still really like it, in spite of it’s faults. I still think it’d be nice if it ended up getting an anime adaptation as well. Now that we know it’s ending with the next chapter, I think it’s safe to say that it could be fit pretty nicely into a 24-ish episode length. But in the short term I just hope that I actually like how the ending goes, lol

ok so, i’ve never done one of these before so bear with me. under the cut are a few wanted connections i’ve come up with, as well as the connections that nova’s already filled for other muses so i can keep track of them.

PSA. they’re first come first serve ( and i’ll try to keep it updated ) so if you like it then you shoulda put a ring on it !! also if none of these tickle your fancy, i’m 100% on board to brainstorm a few different ideas.

PLATONIC.

( the “ twin sister ” ) : see wanted connection on the main. [0/1]

( the ‘ bad dads club ’ connection ) : this character is also a resident of hades cabin. they both have some abandonment issues when it comes to dads and over time they became confidantes. they’re not the kind�� of people who’d come right and say hey i’ve got your back, but if someone was messing with the other they’d step up and square up. [ 1/1 taken by tam. ]

( the ' best friends ’ ) : inspiration: the golden trio. muse a is someone nova clicked with almost instantly upon arriving at camp half-blood. preferably this person would have been in hermes cabin approx. 5 years ago. whether they were the claimed child of a god with no cabin, or an unclaimed half-blood, they bonded over shared interests and compatible personalities. when nova wants to get into a little trouble, or do something stupid, this person isn’t far behind. muse b is someone they initially clashed with — maybe over their differences, or something petty like cutting their favorite shirt with a blade during weapons training. whatever the reason, it was petty, and they remained at odds with each other until they all went on a quest together. this bonded them all instantly and they’ve been near-inseparable ever since. this person also tries to be the logical one and keep muse a and nova from running their lives into the ground. [ 1/2 muse b taken by zach. ]

( the ‘ tentative friends ’ ) : when they first met, they did not get along. he was very angry, finding it unfair that he was shoved into hermes cabin without a place he really belonged, and they argued about this. in fact, they argued a lot. so much so that it eventually culminated in a big fight where he got his ass handed to him. ever since, he’s pulled his head out of his ass a little and they’ve become tentative friends. there’s mutual respect there, though it’s unclear what else, and their friendship is probably best described as friends adjacent. that all might change though if she goes through with their dare from her cabin mates to make him fall for her. [ filling lily’s wanted connection. ]

( the ‘ tour guide ’ ) : when he arrived at camp half-blood, he had quite the chip on his shoulder. he was on the outs with his family, recently claimed, and feeling the sting of rejection to find out that hades kids were lumped into the other cabin. he was probably a brat at first, kind of impossible to be around, but this person somehow looked past it and helped him adjust to life at camp which he did appreciate — even if he sucked at showing it. [0/1]

( the ‘ competitive friends ’ ) : nova has filled this connection for jesse. competitive friends . they’re rivals , in every sense of the word . equal in fighting prowess and in shit - talking abilities , the only place they can seem to get some really good competition is in the other . as a result , they spend a lot of time going head to head in the arena or debating over something stupid in the mess hall at dinner . neither of them hate each other , though it might look like that sometimes .

( the ‘ sparring partner ’ ) : nova has filled this connection for finn. finn isn’t the best at fighting hand - to - hand combat , but they’re partners during practices ! maybe they teach him a bit of what they know and he returns the favor somehow .

( the ' salt bae ’ ) : these two gravitate towards each other when they want to be shady, or pessimistic, and aren’t looking to hear empty platitudes to try and make them feel better. they’re both a little emo, jaded about the world around them, and there’s a quiet kind of kinship shared between them as a result. [ 1/1 taken by autumn. ]

( the ‘ slow burn friend ’ ) : this character was also in hermes cabin. they bonded over mutual annoyances at being grouped in with the others, among other things. stargazing on the roof of their cabin was something they shared together, and continued to even after they were claimed and nova remained in the hermes cabin. over time they became friends, though nova couldn’t point to one specific moment to identify when it actually happened. [ 1/1 taken by min. ]

ROMANTIC.

( the ‘ will they / won’t they ’ ) : for two years, nova and this person danced around each other. maybe they went out once or twice, or maybe they just talked about doing it and it never happened, but it was probably well known that these two had a thing for each other and it just never panned out. [0/1]

( the ‘ unlikely crush ’ ) : on paper, these two people have nothing in common. this other muse is a kind person, the kind of person who you’d think would get under nova’s skin and irritate him with their goodness, but instead he started to crush on them. in turn, it probably made him more of a jerk towards them. whether they’re on good terms or not now is undetermined. [ 2/2 taken by avalon and fernanda. ]

( the ‘ first kiss ’ ) : they meet at a carnival. his mother’s working her stand and he decides to play hooky for the day. he meets this other muse, they spend the day together, and sparks fly. on the ferris wheel, at the end of a day well-spent, they kiss. it’s his very first and it’s kind of a perfect one. they exchange numbers but he accidentally washes it off his hand. he hopes to see her again, to make contact, but the carnival picks up and moves the next day and they never see each other again. until now. [ 1/1 taken by harper. ]

( the ‘ exploited crush ’ ) : this muse is someone that nova realized, pretty early on, had a crush on him. they weren’t very subtle but they sure thought they were. the other muse never made a move — and nova, admittedly, wasn’t really interested — but he never said anything because he liked the attention. maybe your muse has finally worked up the courage to say something, or has started to pick up on signs that he knows. [0/1]

( the ‘ hook-ups ’ ) : this one goes without explanation. brief flings, no real commitments, just teen hearts beating faster, faster. we can flesh out whether it was a one-time thing, or a friends with benefits situation, but real feelings were never factored into the equation. [ 1/5 taken by delia. ]

( the ‘ unrequited crushee ’ ) : nova has filled this connection for abel. unrequited crush a . abel is absolutely obsessed with them , but they barely know he exists . he isn’t even a blip on their radar , despite the fact that he goes out of his way to be where they are most of the time .

ADVERSARIAL

( the ‘ mess of an ex ’ ) : this muse isn’t necessarily a mess, but their relationship definitely was. it was nova’s first and only serious relationship and it didn’t go well. he was allergic to commitment, constantly throwing himself in quickly and then getting cold feet and being wishy washy about where they stood, which led to the inevitable dissolution of the relationship. this muse wasn’t very patient with him, irritated by his behavior, and when they split it was very ugly. we’re talking screaming at each other out by the lake, a capsized canoe, and probably people taking bets on which one of them was going to make it back alive. there’s love there, there always was, but their problems outweighed any of the good times. ( the ‘ anything you can do, i can do better ’ ) : these two muses have been at each other’s throats for years. instead of just being competitive, challenging each other to be better, they’ve made it their personal goals to best the other person. possibly to their own detriment, or sanity. why they hate each other doesn’t even matter at this point, bonus points if they can’t even remember, but the petty rivalry runs rampant and they argue and compete over everything. literally everything, big or small. BnHA Fics I’ve Read This Week 3

I was really in an EraserMight/EraserMic mood this week, but then Shirakumo’s birthday rolled around and I ended up reading some fics for him too, ha. Anyways, here’s my list for this week. Oh, I don’t think that I’ve ever mentioned, but the order I put them in is just the order that I read them in over the week. Manga spoilers ahead, if you haven’t guessed.

Keep Me Post-It - This is a cute EraserMic fic, where Hizashi and Shouta’s different schedules haven’t aligned much in weeks. In order to make up for the lack of time spent together, Hizashi starts leaving Shouta little notes around the apartment.

A Thousand Words To Say - Okay, this is actually an AllEraserMic fic, which I’ve never actually read before this. This story was so good. Five chapters, where Yagi is the odd one out after his partners forget him after a villain attack. Very good, very emotional. This is the author’s Twitter.

The Bottom Line - I am in love with this fic. In this story Shouta Aizawa, who is only dating Toshinori Yagi - All Might’s secretary - to get into Might Tower. He didn’t expect it to actually hurt when he left.

In Common Tongue - EraserMight, but pre-relationship. Yagi and Aizawa end up locked in a very small closet together with no way out. Kinda awkward standing for a bit but ends nicely.

Toast To Me - This is a ShinKami fic, Quirkless College AU. After getting way too drunk at Shinsou’s party, Kaminari wakes up with a hangover and the toaster he stole as an excuse to go back to Shinsou’s apartment.

Pick a Card - Another Quirkless College AU, this one is TodoDoriya. Midoriya does magic tricks in his free time to relieve stress, and one day while practicing around a small group at a park - he catches Todoroki’s attention. Based off of this Tumblr post.

Hitobashira - Honestly, I almost never read Zombie AU, end-of-the-world stories, but this was really good. This is a nice EraserMic fic, and I like the little background that’s reveled throughout the story.

Screaming Mad - This story is actually Hizashi Yamada Centric! I haven’t found a lot of these and I like this idea a lot. This does talk about things that have only been shown in the manga towards the end, and guesses a lot of his backstory.

A Single Untouched Band - Oh, how many different ways can my heart be broken? This story follows Shouta Aizawa and his relationship with Oboro Shirakumo, before and after he dies. A great song for this fic is The Front Bottoms “Swimming Pool.” Also, the author? The sweetest human, replies to every comment and is just so, so nice.

Media Darling - Written by the same person who wrote A Thousand Words To Say, this is an EraserMight fic where the two have been outed by the media, which sucks for an underground hero like Aizawa. They try to move passed it, together.

Hero Dreams - God, I can’t tell what I love more about @jemsauce‘s work, their art or their writing. This is a great story featuring Shouta Aizawa waking up after a nightmare and going to check on his class in their dorms in the middle of the night just to make sure they’re all alright. I honestly didn’t know where to put this in my files, because there is Dadzawa, and towards the end it focuses on EraserMight. I ended up just putting it in Aizawa General, ha!

The River Runs On - Another EraserMight story, I loved this so much. It’s a bit of future fic, when Yagi’s health is deteriorating. He’s so sure that Aizawa is only taking care of him, waiting for him to die as he slowly gets more distant. This is, it’s such a good fic. Also, bonus, Sad Shinsou in chapter two.

Colleague Conundrum - Another wonderful EraserMight fic by @jemsauce. In this one, Yagi asks an advice blog for help about Aizawa. And Aizawa? Maybe he should have answered the ask a little differently.

Sleepy Cloud - Written for Oboro’s birthday, this is a CloudMic fic by the amazing @non-human-whumper! In this fic where the cloud boy lives, he comes home late and tries not to wake a sleeping Hizashi.

Incredible Marks - I don’t know how I found another fic revolving around post-it notes but this one is EraserMight. Soft fic, with Toshinori writing the notes this time.

Never Shut - This is a one-shot of an AU where Shirakumo lived and Aizawa died. From Oboro’s POV we see him as the homeroom teacher of Class 1A. During the USJ attack, Oboro actually recognizes Shouta.

Downpour - Another Hizashi Yamada Centric fic, where he tries to find his friends after the battle in Tasomiya. Painful, but very good.

Hero Jackets - Another OT3, this is a cute little CloudEraserMic fic where each boy steals the others jacket and just hasn’t given it back yet [they each totally mean to though, 100%, totally...]

Like the Candle Singes the Moth - A @tivruskis fic, I actually really liked this! I didn’t expect to, because I accidentally broke my own Nothing Explicit rule by getting too excited to read another EraserMight fic, and was planning on backing out when I saw it. I’m glad I didn’t, because other than that, this fic was really good and talks about Yagi losing his All Might form and what Aizawa thinks of his true - and permanent - form.

White Mist, Black Clouds - This is a platonic soulmate AU between Oboro Shirakumo, Shouta Aizawa, and Hizashi Yamada. It’s not exactly angsty, but it does hurt to read. @salviaofficinalis-writes is actually still writing a whole bunch, and I just- they’re great.

The Sun Came Out Today - Wanna have emotions? Read this fic, where Shouta Aizawa visits Oboro Shirakumo’s grave on Sundays. Even though my brain keeps screaming that most people in Japan are actually cremated, because my brain wants me to have no friends, love this all so much. A fantastic @deafmic fic.

Freedom of Expression - An unlikely friendship between Shouto Todoroki and Eijiro Kirishima occurs at three in the morning in the dorms after Todoroki finds Kirishima dyeing his hair. He asks if Kirishima can help him dye his own hair.

Don’t Wish and Tell - A teenage EraserCloud story, taking place during a study session for all of the Rooftop Trio. Very cute, wish there were a million more chapters.

Weaknesses - This says ShinKami, but it’s really platonic Shinsou and Kaminari from purple boy’s POV. With a big storm coming up, Kaminari’s been acting all out of order, something Shinsou learns in a conversation that maybe he shouldn’t have been eavesdropping on.

Caught in My Own Web - In this story, there is some actual ShinKami. After Aizawa abandons a tied up Shinsou, Kaminari comes over to try and help him. It doesn’t go too well.

Aizawa’s Declassified School Survival Guide : Class 1A - Honestly, this has big MHA School Brief vibes. It’s just a collection of stories about Yagi learning about his new class from all of Aizawa’s notes because he’s bad at everything that has to do with the kids. Wish there were more chapters, and each can be read on their own.

The Midnight Coffeehouse - Another Quirkless college AU, this time for ShinDoriya! Midoriya works at a coffee shop on campus and Shinsou needs a lot of caffeine. Written by @fullmetalhearts. Very cute ending, and a hint of Iida + Todoroki.

Her Defender - This is a Fuyumi Todoroki story! I love her, and think she is extremely underrated. In this story she tries to save some civilians from a fire when the heroes aren’t around and just about gets burned for it.

Trick or Treat 2020 letter

Hi there! Thanks for checking out my letter! First, I want to note that while I hope my likes & prompts are helpful in sparking ideas, optional ideas are optional, and I'd rather you go with a premise that you feel really good about and are jazzed to create rather than something that checks a lot of boxes but you don't feel strongly about.

General likes: adventures, complicated relationships, loyalty/BFFs being rock solid in the face of adversity, canon divergence/"for want of a nail" AUs, time travel, exploring the setting beyond what's shown in canon, outsider point of view, established relationships, found family/unusual family arrangements, in-world texts, amnesia, exploring identity issues, supernatural elements, characters wrangling with past mistakes without demonizing anyone, close friends forced to fight, missing scenes, post-canon events, characters being very competent DNWs: AUs other than canon divergence, omegaverse, cheating/infidelity, non-canon gender identities, major character death, hopeless endings (anst is fine though), excessively saccharine fluff (but general good feelings/happy stuff is fine) If you're interested in writing smut, please no scat, watersports or dubcon/noncon (though bad idea sex that characters might kick themselves for later is absolutely fine). More detailed stuffed regarding my requests: KINGDOM HEARTS I only requested Roxas as a character because I'd really like something where he is either the main character or has a strong role, but feel free to include whatever other characters you like! I adore the sea salt trio to the moon on back, but I also enjoy seeing him interact with characters he had no or few interactions with in canon. His relationship with Sora and how complicated it can be is also endlessly fascinating to me. I also enjoy bouncing him off Riku, Ven, the BBS trio and his former Organization comrades, especially those who only knew him as a dazed clueless kid and not an angry ball of pointy fury. A few canon-specific requests/notes: -If you write something post-KH3, feel free to fast forward slightly and assume Sora's been brought back somehow, you don't even have to explain how. -Please no post-KH3 resurrected/redeemed Vanitas; I felt satisfied with the resolution of his story in KH3. That said, if you wanted to include him in some other way, that's cool! -Also please no dad!Isa. I think their relationship becoming something more positive is interesting and complicated, but I just can't buy that he'd ever have that kind of emotional authority over Roxas. (Using him as a Fake Parent for plot purposes makes me chuckle though.) As far as ship stuff goes, please no Axel/Roxas (nothing against it, it's just not how I see their relationship) or Namine/Roxas (KH2 leaned too hard into the Sora/Kairi parallelism for me to enjoy it romantically.) Platonic friendships with both of them are A+++ though. tbh I'm not super shippy about him with anyone, but if you have an idea that includes a ship, I'm pretty okay with all other characters, male or female. Spooky Scary ideas: -Delving into the nature of Nobodyhood and being half a person and just being different from standard humans has a lot of potential here. And of course Roxas has identity issues ahoy. He might be in a much better place post-KH3 but that doesn't mean everything is 100% great now. -Visiting creepy places. Maybe a missing portion from Days, or something post-KH3 now that he can travel as much as he wants? -Canon divergence AUs/time travel/supernatural stuff where Stuff Goes Wrong is always interesting. Sweet Treat ideas: -Post-KH3 ADVENTURE TIME. Suddenly Roxas has a lot of free time! He and some friends deserve to go exploring. -Roxas meeting and getting to know the Twilight Town kids for real. What was that like? -General trying to figure out what he wants to do with his life now that it's his own. Getting to know the other wielders outside of a crisis situation. -Terra and Aqua dealing with Ven's sudden non-evil twin also has a lot of potential. ASSASSIN'S CREED Similar to Kingdom Hearts, I only listed Altair because I like him so much, but feel free to include most other characters! He became one of my favorite Assassins because I'm really fond of the Huge Jerkass Learns To Not Be a Jerkass and Becomes Kinda Cool Actually trope, as well as his boundless intellectual curiosity and extreme competence (while still being very flawed.) Sweet Treat ideas: -What about some slice of life, even if that life is mainly in an Assassin stronghold? The mundane side of being a mysterious stabby brotherhood is alway fun to explore, along with Altair having to actually run Masyaf once he takes power. Would especially love to see Malik by his side for the latter, because I'm sure there's a lot to mine there. -Maybe a look at younger Altair hitting some milestones as he grew up, before he became an arrogant dick. -I'm pretty fond of dad!Altair because I doubt it would come naturally to him but he'd care so much. Spooky Scary Ideas: -The Pieces of Eden are always really creepy when they activate in-game, so inventing new ancient artifacts that facilitate creepy shit happening would be a lot of fun. -An Assassination gone wrong in some way? I do enjoy angst and whump. Also, not sure which this would fall under (maybe both), but finagling time travel (either real or simulated somehow) so Altair can meet other AC characters is something I enjoy a lot. Caveat - I have not played Oddysey, so please nothing after Origins if you want to give this a try. Character-wise, I love how his relationship with Malik evolved from bitterness to ride or die. Altair and Malik as either best friends or a couple are both excellent, but if you write them as a couple during a time period when Maria Thorpe would be around, I'd prefer you just pretend she doesn't exist rather than finagle a breakup or infidelity. (I also like them as a throuple but please don't feel pressured on this - I'm mainly looking to avoid a 'Altair never really cared about her' scenario.) OVERWATCH NGL, I ship Mercy/Moira like burning, but very much as a complicated thing where their differing ethics present an insurmountable barrier between them yet they're incredibly drawn to one another both personally and intellectually, and a lot of angst ensues (well, for Mercy; I'm not sure Moira actually cares about the ethics division.) They're especially interesting to me when Moira's edges aren't smoothed down - I LIKE that she could take some really dubious actions and still be someone Mercy can't quite get over. That said! If you don't feel them as a ship, pretty much everything I just said also applies to them as professional peers/onetime friends/science rivals, just without the sexual tension. Sweet Treat Ideas: -Pre-Overwatch shutdown/Talon era where they're actually working on a project together or sparking cool new scientific ideas or just smoochin' if you go for a ship. -Likewise earlier in canon - Mercy and Moira both want to woo the other one but have VERY different ideas about how to go about it. (Babe, I did some mad science for you, isn't it romantic?) -Surely Overwatch had at least one obligatory office Halloween event -Epistolary fic feels like it could be really fun. Spooky Scary ideas: -I mean, Moira is the evil/amoral scientist trope, I feel like you could get a ton of creepy stuff just from there. -Bad idea ex sex -General clashing of ideals + angst Also I'm explicitly counting Dr. Junkenstein-verse AU fic as being the exception to my request for only canon divergence AUs. That would be a ton of fun, for either a trick or a treat.

How do you think Sora's relationship w/Roxas and Xion will be developed in future titles. The brief impression I've gotten is more of a sibling dynamic thing going on. Sora is already pretty dedicated to Roxas's wellbeing and I feel like this will extend to Xion too now that he knows about her. The BH6 world kind of implied Sora sees Roxas like a sib too. From Sora and Xion's side I definitely see some idolizing going on. Once Roxas got over resenting Sora for something he couldn't control. He-

-seemed to believe 100% by DDD that Sora would resolve his situation. Actually Roxas seems to believe Sora can handle anything to almost unrealistic levels. From dumping all his bad memories into Sora to being surprised that Sora is worried (post Kairi murder and Xehanort starting to open KH). I've noticed in gameplay analysis (and my own playthrough) Xion follows Sora around a lot in battle when he's hurt. Later she was the only one to comfort him about Kairi and give him hope she was okay Basically I think Xion (being created from Sora's most important memory: Kairi) is naturally observant of Sora's deeper feelings. While Xion's main decision to sacrifice herself was for Roxas. She also seemed interested in Sora as a person (wanting to meet him. Believing both her and Roxas belonged w/him). All the above seems to paint Xion as seeing Sora as 'special' but also showed a more protective side when she does finally meet him. It could be Roxas has confidence in Sora's strength-while Xion sees his wounds better. Which makes sense since Roxas had to acknowledge how strong and compassionate Sora was face to face. While Xion knew about Sora in a vulnerable state. She also met Sora's desperate best friend, is made from Sora's memories of a loved one and knew Sora was the enemy of the evil org she was apart of. But yeah those dynamics are fun to think about. I do think the games set up Sora being a older brother to Roxas and Xion.

Ha okay, so. I for one absolutely get behind Sora-sibling dynamics with any of the heart hotel kids. I remember making a wishlist when the BH6 trailer came out noticing just how heavy-handed the brother parallels were getting with Roxas. I want nothing more than for the series to address the unique elements of the Sora-Roxas relationship and expand upon that. If they were given the time to breathe who knows what could have been alluded to. Of course the conclusion of KH3 does not give us much room to consider their relationship because Sora went off and faded his ass to another realm and what-not. We are being deprived of that potential before we can assess it’s likeliness. But say Sora didn’t fade, say the most immediate future does not have any of Sora’s heart hotel tenants more than a gummiship ride away.

Well… I lowkey still think we wouldn’t get the canon sibling dynamic. And like… ugh don’t get me wrong its there it’s just… the relationships in kh are painted in very broad strokes. The most exploration we ever got beyond platonic bonds is the familial bond with the bbs trio and Eraqus. And that stood out remarkably well against the different flavors of friendship the different trios and cross combinations provide. A part of me thinks maybe Nomura’s testing waters with that scenario and maybe he can break the characters out into different dynamics.

Because different types of bonds have different implications and responsibilities. Bonds of friendship are unique in how memories are the key foundation of those relationships. Contrarily, bonds of family have blood or responsibility interwoven. Family as a caretaker. Family as a guardian. Family as one’s identity. The latter aspect is where both Xion and Roxas draw the strongest familial ties with Sora as he is a key part of who they perceive themselves to be (by choice and against their will). The other aspects then fall into place. Do they feel protective or nurturing? Is it the other way around? Sora’s role in a hypothetical needs a ton of exploration. Sora’s feelings toward Roxas in KH3 felt like it came from guilt more so than anything. But that connection can spawn familial responsibility easily. A nurturing older brother kind of dynamic we want to imagine.

(On the flipside, this is also where Ven’s dynamic with Sora could be extrapolated easily because there is canon mutual protectiveness between the two of them)

I’ve mentioned a lot of Roxas and not as much Xion because Sora’s regard for Xion has always been through a proxy. He is technically at square one with her albeit, they do have a unique bond of identity (which is in some ways familial)-- more so with Xion’s perspective. She has a strong fascination and as you’ve observed, a sensitivity toward him. One that you’d hope he’d reciprocate if given the time with her.

Oh anon I want this more than anything but it’s gonna have to live in my headcanons probably well after the next installment cause our stupid big brother Sora is too far away to develop his side of the relationship potential he abandoned. The bastard.

Q: Why the Mad Max Fandom?

A: I was actually quite fixated on Fury Road after watching it on DVD. I didn’t expect to particularly like it - I’d never seen the previous Mad Max movies (I finally have!) - but I was transfixed. And I didn’t particularly ship Furiosa and Max until the haemothorax/transfusion scene (although then I very much did). There were just so many layers of detail and backstory there waiting to be explored, because so little was actually said or explained. It’s like a neutron star of fic-fodder. And I didn’t discover ao3 til summer 2016 so I spent a full year wandering around like a lost soul. So, yeah. Quite a huge deal for me really.

Q: What do you think are some defining aspects of your work? Do you have a style? Recurrent themes?

A: Music. Minor characters looking on and commenting on the protagonists (big fan of Thomas Hardy’s more comedic efforts, where this happens a lot). Reasonably happy endings.

Q: Which of your works was the most fun to create? The most difficult? Which is your most popular? Most successful? Your favourite overall?

A: Maybe the small town modern AU (Ordinary People), because it was a nice change from the Wasteland setting. I’m not very Wasteland-minded at all. But the Bladerunner AU (Do Androids Dream etc) and the new Firefly AU are lots of fun because the two sets of movie worlds mesh together way better than I’d expected.

The most difficult? - My Wasteland headcanon stuff. It’s too fluffy and not remotely violent which doesn’t really ring true. I’m very aware that my Furiosa is hardly ever violent, or my Max particularly mad. But that’s the great thing about fanfiction - the infinite versions of characters and scenarios. Surprisingly the Blues Brothers AU is quite tricky. I can’t quite make Jake Blues and Furiosa the same person. But it’s an excuse to listen to great tunes. And Jessie will make a comeback in that one though (she’s not dead, I should make that clear).

On the old kudos-to-hits ratio, the Firefly AU is taking off surprisingly well, but it’s quite smut-focused so that might well account for it ;) early days yet. Bladerunner AU is doing well for a multi-chapter. Up Around The Bend (an oldie, the escape from the Citadel) is hanging in there.

Most successful? I’m happy enough with all of them, except maybe I Kissed A Girl. Please don’t read that. Favourite overall - It’s a toss-up between Ordinary People (a chance to explore my headcanon in a modern small town setting) and the Bladerunner AU (it makes me weep).

Q: How do you like your wasteland? Gritty? Hopeful? Campy? Soft? Why?

A: Hopeful and silly and everyone has access to a record player somehow. This is why I stick to writing AUs these days. But I’ll happily read all of the above!!! And entirely intend to!

Q: Walk us through your creative process from idea to finished product. What's your prefered environment for creating? How do you get through rough patches?

A: Watch a film, browse tumblr, listen to music, get an idea. Have a good think about it, think about it some more, find a starting point, write it down, go from there. Maybe stick a draft on tumblr if I’m not sure if it’s going to fly. Write it anyway.

For OCs, figure out what someone looks like. That’s weirdly essential for me. Zal (Furiosa’s Dad) is Ed Harris, Young Val (Furiosa and Max’s grownup daughter) is Alicia Vikander and Toots (rescued-kid-turned-Wasteland-son-in-law) is Didier Drogba (bit of a blast from the past but hey). I was getting nowhere with Blues Mothers Jessie until I recast her as Sofia Boutella (because if Max is getting a generational update, she needs one too). And Firefly AU’s Mister Jobassa is Jakob Oftebro. All very pretty people, but what are you gonna do? But they’re only these people in MY head - they can be whoever the reader wants them to be. Oh, and Pin from Ordinary People was 100% an actual real tour guide I met on holiday once.

Preferred environment? Usually while half asleep in bed, or walking, or In the gym, or watching tv - world building seems to be something that happens away from the keyboard. Writing itself is exclusively on my phone so can and does happen anywhere at all. Rough patches are usually caused by guilt that I’m not spending enough time on the day job :P

Q: What (if any) music do you listen to for help getting those creative juices flowing?

A: I listen to music all the time anyway, mainly upbeat pre-90s tunes. Disco, funk, ska, motown, anything like that. And it always find its way into the writing. Sometimes artificially (where I’m on a song-lyrics-as-title theme - it took ages for some of the Wasteland fics) but most times it can help shape the story in a BIG way. I can’t listen to certain songs now without reliving a chapter or a whole fic - Dionne Warwick’s Do You Know The Way To San José is Bladerunner!Furiosa’s Green Place song, and Ash’s Angel Interceptor is StarTrek!Max’s flying music - it’s noisy enough but also speaks to me about a longing to not be alone in the universe. Concrete and Clay is smalltown!Max’s bittersweet lament for Jessie and Twistin’ The Night Away is the final party scene in Cheedo’s update of The Rivals. Some fics wouldn’t have been written at all if it wasn’t for a particular song. The Black Keys’ Heavy Soul was my original Wasteland Furiosa/Max ship theme back in 2015, before I’d even heard of ao3 - that’s the closest I’ve come to a song fic. Caleb was only Caleb because of a line in Symarip’s Skinhead Moonstomp, and I was so desperate to write a fic with Leo Sayer’s You Make Me Feel Like Dancing In it that it was the final excuse for a whole modern mirrorverse to my Wasteland headcanon series. Bet you’re sorry you asked now. But I’ll have to go and put together a Kirkyverse OST list.

Q: What is your biggest challenge as a creator?

A: To put the damn thing down and walk away. To not assume it’s awful if I don’t get a kudos in the first thirty hits. Thumb cramp from phone-typing.

Q: How have you grown as a creator through your participation in the Mad Max Fandom? How has your work changed? Have you learned anything about yourself?

A: I didn’t write at all before the Mad Max fandom. Apart from a ghost story when I was about seven (it did win a prize tbh) and a truly god awful Stephen King rip-off when I was fourteen (which makes me nauseous from embarrassment when I think of it). So a fair bit, it’d probably be fair to say. It would be impossible not to, you know, from zero :) My work has changed from spinoffs of inspirational fics (thanks Squid!) to ‘well, I suppose I’ve got a head canon, let’s see if I can make this work’ to ‘goddammit I’ll finish this if it kills me’. Then I missed my exit on the Roundabout of Fic Endings and had to go round again in a modern AU mirror verse. Now it’s all movie mashups, which is lots of fun and probably never-ending. During which time I have learned that crossovers are my favourite to write. And that writing fanfic is probably not a temporary fad :)

Q: Which character do you relate to the most, and how does that affect your approach to that character? Is someone else your favourite to portray? How has your understanding of these characters grown through portraying them?

A: I don’t really have a favourite tbh. They’re all their own people and do their own thing. Writing them is very dependent on their environment, and it’s often surprising how they behave and where they end up. It feels a bit like they’re on Whose Line Is It Anyway?

Q: Do you ever self-insert, even accidentally?

A: Hah yes. The first one was Zephyr the annoying visitor in Witches and Ogres. Young Val’s social awkwardness in As was very much on loan from me.

Q: Do you have any favourite relationships to portray? What interests you about them?Furiosa and Max are pretty much always there - sometimes it’s probably platonic, and sometimes there’s a third person involved (nothing posted yet but but but). It depends on the fic.

Q: Do you prefer to create in one defined chronology or do your works stand alone? Why or why not?

A: One big long chronology for the headcanon series (childhood to old age), then a whole bunch of little universes for everything else.

Q: To break or not to break canon? Why?

A: Not to break, as much as I can. But it depends.

Q: Share some headcanons.

A: Furiosa was never actually a wife - she was captured but dodged the whole Vault experience. Max is the original Max, of Jessie and Sprog fame. Toecutter was Joe’s younger self - he scooted around on motorbikes and raised hell before deciding to settle down and take the Citadel. AU Toast and Dag are twins (from a shady mob family). Furiosa’s Dad is a friendly Wasteland bandit.

Q: If you work with OCs walk us through your process for creating them. Who are some of your favourites?

A: They’re supplementary characters who make the plots fit together, and sources of conflict or humour (usually both). I think I like Ordinary People’s Alexa and Mallory best. Although the Irish War Boy crew in Beyond the Pale were fun to write. Ace’s trio of love interests (Brick, Big Dave and Caleb/Pin) are a consistent theme. Sometimes I steal characters from other sources (stand up Christopher Brookmyre) when it’s convenient.

Q: What sparks your many wonderful AUs?

A: Movies, tv, gifs, tumblr prompts and general chitchat (thankyou btw!!!)

Q: A lot of your fics are light-hearted and hopeful, which is great to see for the apocalyptic Mad Max world. Your thoughts on that? What is it about the characters that inspires you to reframe them?

A: I just really like comedy and am committed to winkling it into every fictional scenario whether it’s appropriate or not. Glad people don’t hate it!

Q: Who are some works by other creators inside and outside of the fandom that have influenced your work?

A: Well, it was Squid’s ( @sacrificethemtothesquid )Length and Breadth of Fury Road that got me out of the starting blocks! Christopher Brookmyre’s The Sacred Art of Stealing was a big influence on my headcanon series, as was a particular Coronation Street storyline from some years back :)

Q: Tell us about a current WIP or planned project.

A: Blues Brothers AU series (Sweet Home Chicago) -Wasteland Star Trek First Contact AU (Angel Interceptor) -Firefly AU (Our Mister Jobassa) -His Dark Materials AU (unnamed as yet, just brewing in my head, hope it just stays there for the meantime) -Will combine all the headcanon works into one long fic sometime. That’s everything from Witches and Ogres through to Ordinary People. Probably be called ‘All the Things that I’ve Done’ (basically the two lives of Furiosa: Wasteland and mirrorverse).

a random thought: I really hope that in some fictional timeline, Gundam meets Phichit from Yuri on Ice and they discuss hamsters for hours upon hours on end.

An unpopular opinion: I rly don’t like the headcanon that Chihiro is a transwoman alsdkjsdaf. I’m okay if people see them that way and relate to them that way! I encourage people to explore characterization however they want and however they need to or relate to, it’s all fine and I support all of it! But me personally I don’t vibe with it and it makes me uncomfortable asflkjsadfsafd. omg pls no one yell at me ahaha...

My Canon OTP: ...was there even any canon pairings in DR I don’t even remember lmao. I can’t remember what was canon or what has been heavily implied in fandom lol. But u know what??? I’m just gonna say Sakura and Asahina.

Pairing I am not a fan of: Honestly i’m really not involved in the DR fandom enough to really know what pairings exist hahaha. First one that comes to mind is Sonia/Souda tho so I guess I will say that.

Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): Hiyoko. Not even that they necessarily screwed her up like I feel like she was exactly what the writers intended her to be, but even at the end of her arc I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to hate her or feel bad for her lol.

Favourite Friendship: While it’s obvious I really, really don’t care for Hiyoko, I really loved her friendship with Mahiru.

Character I most identify with: Chiaki!! Omg i relate to her so much lol.

Character I wish I could be: god i wouldn’t wanna be any of them, nope, not even if u paid me a million dollars have u evern played dangan ronpa.

When I started shipping them: God I really don’t remember lmao. I wanna say during Highway Star??? Lmao it was either that or the Gambling arc.

My thoughts: I LOVE THEM. Like they’re not even enemies, or rivals, but they really just don’t vibe w/ each other and act like petty assholes to each other. I mean jfc just look at the gambling arc they are such petty morons. XD But then slowly throughout the series you can see them awkwardly and slowly come to respect each other while still being assholes to each other and it’s wonderful. Then by the Rohan spin offs they are actually friends and go get coffee at the cafe together lmao. They truly are a slow and awkward burn couple and i love it.

What makes me happy about them: Everything about them is so entertaining lol. From the pettiness to the awkward support they give each other to the fact they always gotta be more extra than the other. It’s like these 2 morons care about each other but they’re too busy pretending they can’t stand each other hahaha. Oh boys....

What makes me sad about them: Nothing about them per se, but i’m really sad we don’t get to see more of them actually getting along. :c

Things done in fanfic that annoys me: I haven’t read Josuhan fanfic in a long while, but I always got annoyed when ppl wrote Rohan really flatly. Like his personality was pretty much “asshole” and he had no other traits lol. I mean yes, don’t get me wrong, Rohan is 100% an asshole but like...he has other traits too? XD

Things I look for in fanfic: THEM AWKWARDLY TAKING CARE OF EACH OTHER HOLY CRAP. Them awkwardly being affectionate with each other, Rohan being in denial about his feeligs for Josuke. Just them being 2 dorks in an awkward budding romance hahaha. :’D But I also really like the established relationship fic where they’ve been together for years and their affection is still hella awkward because that’s just who Rohan is as a person lol. But it’s fine bc it’s so them!!

My wishlist: God araki just give me a spin off abt Josuke and Rohan being friends and getting along. That’s all I want.

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: To be honest I really can’t imagine Rohan getting involved romantically with anyone lol, even Josuke canonically. I really only ship him with Rohan, and occasionally Koichi. Josuke on the other hand, I would be ok if he ended up with Okuyasu even if I much prefer them as bros hahaha.

My happily ever after for them: Just let them be close. Let them admit they like each other. Let them be friends. I don’t care if they are romantic with each other I just want to see them genuinely enjoying each other haha!

How I feel about this character: GOD I LOVE THEM THEY ARE THE LOVE OF MY LIFE YURI PLISETSKY SAVED YURI ON ICE. Seriously I literally watched the entire show just for him laskjfasdfasfd. If he wasn’t there I would have dropped it.

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: YUURI/YURI HOLY DICKS YO. Srsly that was the theme of my yuri on ice blog, their relationship lmaooooo. I been shippin’ them since day 1 i am an OG Yuuri/Yuri shipper. I can tell you EVERYTHING. I also ship Viktor/Yuri, Viktor/Yuuri/Yuri, JJ/Yuri, Georgi/Yuri, and Mila/Yuri!!

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: Otabek and Yuri!!! Oh my god their friendship gives me so much life hahaha. It’s so wonderful. ;_____; It actually makes me really emotional because it reminds me of the time I made my first friend aha.

My unpopular opinion about this character: Man do I have an unpopular Yuri opinion??? I feel like all of my various headcanons are generally accepted, ship ones aside.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: NOTHING MY BOY GOT EVERYTHING I WANTED FOR HIM. (tho I really would have liked a reconciliation scene between him and Viktor but whatever)

Favorite friendship for this character: OTABEK AND YURI!!!! And while I adore romantic yuuri/yuri, I also really, really truly adore Yuuri and Yuri’s platonic friendship.

The 100 Season 7 Episode 15 Review: The Dying of the Light

For the second time in as many episodes, Octavia responded to Clarke with sedate, stoic grief when something more like shrieking in horror and despair would have been appropriate. Watching the two women repeatedly bond over their adopted daughters in the latter half of this season was a nice evolution in their relationship. But it’s hard to square one of those conversations with what happened just moments later, when Clarke decided shooting her daughter in the head was the only option and Octavia’s only counter was essentially, “No, let me.”

Truly, what has happened to this show?

In a moment that feels reminiscent of Handmaid’s Tale’s penchant for torturing not only its characters but its audience, Clarke found Madi on Bardo alive but unmoving, able to see and hear her but not able to move or respond. Clarke took a leap to “my only option is to murder my own kid” incredibly fast. This is disturbing ableist bullshit of the highest order, the notion that the life of a person who can think and feel but cannot move is necessarily so miserable that it would be better to end it. Able people assume a level of extreme suffering that they don’t ascertain, and then make devastating choices that betray their own prejudices.

Let’s not let the writing off the hook: Madi could have been brain dead and Clarke unaware of whether the key had been extracted, leaving Clarke to make a profoundly upsetting call (and leaving the window open for a too-late reveal that Cadogan had the key and had left) but ensuring that Madi’s death was at someone else’s hands. Indeed, many viewers likely assumed Madi was dead when they first saw her open, lifeless eyes and revised that theory to braindead when Clarke said she was breathing. But no! The 100 went for the despicable jugular, clarifying that Madi is alive and aware, compounding how grotesque Clarke’s completely unnecessary choice is as well as how bizarre these story choices.

To be clear, because in my mind I can already see showrunner Jason Rothenberg’s inevitable tweets defending this, I don’t object on the grounds that this is too upsetting. Plenty of characters make hard choices on The 100, perhaps mothers most of all. It’s the rapidity and firmness with which the characters came to a conclusion that is, in itself, ableist and actively harmful to people with disabilities, which went unchecked by the larger narrative of the show itself.

It’s also worth noting that while Leavitt was clear there’s nothing they can do with the technology on Bardo to help her recover, that single tear she cried at the end is likely a hint that she’s not down for the count. It once again feels short-sighted not to have Gabriel, the only character other than Becca or Raven who might have been able to help Madi. Even if Madi makes a miraculous full recovery or transcends or becomes a spaceship’s computing system, the damage of this episode is still done.

Over in the former killing pit, a brief philosophical conversation while everyone paced anxiously had a similarly familiar feeling. Indra and Gaia talking about faith and Jordan’s take on war as a failure of everything actually came closer to truly memorializing Bellamy than just about anything else thus far. Unfortunately, it’s hard not to shake the feeling that, like Madi telling Cadogan that the last war is actually a test, these characters grappling with these ideas should have come several episodes sooner.

There are a number of other issues of the type of general sloppiness that usually comes up toward the end of a season of The 100. Everyone on Bardo trusting constant-turncoat Levitt, the continued refusal to look out for Disciples in invisible mode, Jackson suddenly insisting on perfect conditions for surgery, as though we haven’t all been watching seven seasons of this show when he and Abby got by with a toothpick and gum up on the Ark or down on the ground.

Much of the Murphy-Raven-Emori-Jackson plot felt like actually watching The 100. Raven and Murphy match one another in their intensity to save Emori, who was impaled by rebar in the collapse. It feels almost silly to hope anything about this show anymore, but this trio is so good (and also clearly should be together in some sort of throuple – Emori and Raven exchanged I love you’s this episode!) that it’s hard not to hope for them anyway. All three have had incredible journeys, and the idea that they’re ride or die for each other right now would have made no sense at many different points throughout The 100’s history. Yet here it is, well earned and one of the most rewarding dynamics on a show that’s rapidly dispensing with whatever good will it has left.

What happened to Madi seems to have saved Emori for now, but it’s important to realize that we don’t actually know where Raven is bringing them in the end. It’s hard to imagine a series finale where the characters are on three or even four different planets (where did Cadogan go?) but bringing Raven x Memori x Jackson to Bardo consolidates things somewhat. Onward, I guess?

Other notes…

I guess at some point Gabriel told Madi the truth about the text from Jordan? What a guy.

“Madi, I don’t want war. I don’t want to send my children to die” biggest lie Cadogan has even told, and that’s saying something.

No sign of Echo and Niylah. This has got to be the worst hangover ever.

“It’s not easy loving someone who puts their own life at risk. Madi went to bardo to save us. I’m proud of her for that.” Uhhh was Gaia about to confess her feelings to Clarke? I generally see them as platonic co-parents but they had a real vibe going this episode.

During Madi’s M-CAP, there was a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it image of Lexa, and audio of her saying “I’ll always be with you.”

Hope and Octavia doing the forehead touch is such a lovely recurring character moment.

It is fun to watch JR Bourne just absolutely body people, even if I dislike the way Sheidheda’s been positioned as more appealing and something closer to an ally in the last few episodes.
