Summary:

Nobody wanted a daughter and a son, nobody wanted two six year olds so traumatized that they refused to speak or be separated until they lost the cute factor that came with young age. Over the years Kotone had adjusted better, learning how to talk to who and where she could be herself. Makoto… couldn’t. He simply couldn’t be anyone but himself, a boy withdrawn, a boy who sang when he was alone because he couldn’t stand the silence. How he desperately wished he could be someone else, but it was an impossible dream.

Kenji stood as still as he could for his alterations, but it felt like a waste of time. Yes his parents were important, and yes this was the first social ball his sister could attend, but he didn’t matter for any of it. So why was he being forced into all the proceedings? He wouldn’t be swayed from thinking this was all a waste of time. All the dignitaries, all the people looking for funding, everyone would be talking to his parents and sister. This wasn’t a marriage ball, so nobody would have a reason to talk to him.

Summary:

Once again Kenji wriggled around and adjusted, acting like he would end up anywhere but on his side facing his friend again. Makoto was on his side today, just as relaxed as before, hand just a bit closer. It didn’t matter, Kenji didn’t know why he even noticed. 

He also didn’t know why his own hand drifted over, just barely overlapping their pinkies. It was just another sense to ground him, that was it. Sight and sound wouldn’t be enough when he had to hear that snoring for an entire night; he just trusted Makoto enough to touch! 

Best friends were chill with that stuff… right?
