yay a week until my 29th bday ✨🔥😎🔥✨
#about myself#heldig life stories#birthday#it's hard to believe that a year ago in that same period of time i wrote my last will haha#the only reason i didn't make an attempt on myself was my hyper responsibility 'cause i wanted a notary to approve my last will#so my beloved ones would have no problems with my property and my corpse after i die#but i had no time to do so and then my husband led me to psychiatrist and she confirmed i'm having a suicidal depression all my life#after i described my habitual living she was shocked that i managed to go so long without any medication just on my inner will itself#just because i constantly pushed myself forward from 'you need to go everyone counts on you'#but then it was awfully worsened by my long term burnout due to constant work crunches to the point when my inner will became not enough#and i stopped functioning like a normal person completely: not eating not getting up from the bed not wanting anything except disappearing#now i'm on antidepressants and it feels like i'm awake from a living time nightmare#it would have been so much easier if someone gave me antidepressants back then when i was 14 and tried to take my own life for the 1st time#fortunately unsuccessfully#so it will be another happy birthday to me that i wasn't supposed to live haha#don't be like me pls don't ignore yourselves and your condition and instead take care of yourselves dudes <3#go to the doctor if you need to it's neither scary nor shameful - it can literally save your life#hug you all tightly

Finding someone who can officiate a 15 minute ceremony, with no added wedding planning, setup or any other weird shit is absolutely impossible lmao
#like all I need is a notary public to do 15 minutes of work I don’t need anything else#any of my mutuals Florida notaries public or ordained ministers lmao#I mean I guess I can contact the Unitarian Universalists but I would feel a touch guilty considering I have zero interest in their religion#though I’m under the impression they don’t seem to be bothered by that

Seeing posts about the current situation (war) in Israel, describing the events from two very opposite sides, is the main reason you see nothing of it on my blog.
#I know nobody asked#but those posts were one of the reasons I was pissed off yesterday#hence that short post in Polish#because I was pissed off and tired after work#after reading the news about Polish future government#(the currently leading party got the most votes in the election so they won#but they have no chance of forming the government#because they can't get the majority in the parliament#but our president is their notary basically#so here we go with some more weeks of a fucking mess before the opposition hopefully forms the government)#my sister lost a piece of her tooth because she was chewing a gum despite having bruxism#and it's very difficult to get her an appointment at a reasonable time#so I come home and open Tumblr to relax#and I see Israeli army committing genocide on the Palestinians on one side#and some blatant antisemitism on the other#fuck off#I'm on antibiotics and various other medicines and I don't want to drink alcohol#there you have it#me venting in the tags again#about me

so apparently I'm being asked to "choose a gender" for the property paperwork for my house because "non binary isn't an option" and I'm developing an eye twitch. do these people know they make laws for a reason
#i was informed of this by my mother so i asked for the notary's phone number so i can have the conversation myself tho cause god knows my#mother can't be trusted to mediate this information exchange#but if the paperwork really does only have a binary option then i need to be directed to the office in charge of receiving my complaint#and providing a legal defense cause that's just plain fucking illegal#and the paperwork needs to catch up with the human rights guaranteed by the law#which is gonna delight my mother a whole hell of a lot skhsjsjsvsbsjs#but I'm not fucking 'picking a gender' what the absolute fuck#and she just slipped that request into a conversation about setting a date to go sign the paperwork like it was no big deal#my mother: and oh yeah btw you need to choose M or F I'm only telling you because if i pick you're gonna get mad at me#me: give me a sec i need to google the number of the human rights organization in charge of this particular issue#we live in different realities at this point like bitch I'm not fucking choosing that's not how the law works!!!!#and you can bet I'm damn right gonna be upset if you pick one for me you alien from outer space what are you even saying#anyway living outside the gender binary is my favorite thing except when it comes to paperwork cause it turns out no one's fucking done#their homework in the two years since the law was updated and i have to demand that everyone does whenever i want to exist legally in any#space#which i will continue to do because the law says it's my right and someone has to fucking get these people to do their damn job at some#point for the sake of nonbinary people everywhere in the country but it's exhausting#why does it have to be me#alex txt

One of my favorite things to do as a DV advocate is explaining legal processes to folks, and I've been eyeballing a paralegal certification as a potential track since before COVID, although I don't want to work for an attorney.
Except! Legal document assistants (LDAs) are a thing, and they basically do EXACTLY what I already do with family law restraining orders as a non-lawyer plus EVEN MORE stuff, and honestly it sounds precisely like what I've been looking for????
I think that if I don't get into the Egyptology program I applied for this fall, imma go ahead and shoot for a paralegal certification instead. :D :D :D
#in ten years i'm gonna end up managing a calligraphy hustle and a legal doc/notary hustle and a faith-based peer counselor hustle#me: how tf am i gonna fit that all under a single umbrella to streamline self-employed income reporting#my brain: lean really fuckin hard into the 'scribe of thoth' imagery :D#hound barks#i should be wrapping up this art AA soon#and i'm gonna wait to shoot for a doctorate until i get my student loans taken care of in like five years and i no longer have to#work full-time at a nonprofit#so after the art but before the ph.d. - paralegal nonsense!#i'll probably be going to school for the rest of my life and honestly i love the idea

it's so interesting ive always loved performing etc because it is so much fun but until i was 15 or so i was DEATHLY afraid of public speaking. (which i find interesting because it is similar in some ways) and luckily i had a very nice friend who told me i could just look at her when i got nervous. And then one day our year had an activity day and we had to do a group presentation i had zero interest in and it wasn't for a grade and since that day i haven't cared at all about things like that. idk. something about removing stressors in order to improve and the ridiculous amounts of tests high school students need to do these days. That's not even mentioning the abysmal reading comprehension/levels of 15 year olds here. Maybe if we all slow down a little and get some room to fail more without consequences, everything will actually become a little easier
#sort of related but one time my former landlady worked at like a notary company and accidentally deleted a client's entire file#and he didnt get mad but just said well now you won't make that mistake again in the future :)#what if we all gave each other a little more grace#🌬️

i will say that the real (academic) reason that tous ceux qui tombent is important is it unmobs the mob and pull the dead from oblivion - Foa has done extensive archival work to put names to both the killers and the killed during the massacre, as well as simply marks the daily life that went on even as destruction was widespread.
#sophies ramblings#he has a whole chapter that describes the notaries that were working during the massacre to draw up and witness marriages wills etc#it's all in the caprices of memory and the nature of the archive

Dear Advisor,
I tend to be a very reserved and shy person so making friends is super hard. Recently I’ve been wanting to socialize more , but I genuinely don’t know how. Is there any advice that you have that can make me look more approachable and not be scared to talk to people. I’m so stressed about being alone and not having any friends, but I just find it so hard to go up to people and make a conversation. I tried once but it became super awkward. I just really need good advice from someone on how to approach a person and continue a conversation.
Dear Awkward Anonymous,
It would be so easy to get into a whole deep let's-skeetshoot-therapy-on-the-internet session and try to help a total stranger unpack all of the GA-FUCKING-ZILLION ways in which social awkwardness shows up in a person's life. It seems easy, and it even seems meaningful and worthwhile, but to do so I would have to presume a bunch about your life, and make a bunch of assumptions about the ways in which my own experiences maybe/probably track with yours, and it would be a whole big wank-fest, and frankly ... it would be awkward. I'd be like you, standing there at the party, hoping that what I'm saying resonates or lands or even vaguely tracks with anything a stranger has ever known or experienced, presuming (probably rightly!) that it doesn't, and then flailing and blaming myself when I didn't emerge from the interaction with all the world's gold stars.
So here's what: stop talking to other people as a primary social occupation. Going up to people and just talking is fucking terrifying. The Bad Advisor says this as a Certified Extrovert™ who rarely shuts the fuck up.
Instead, find a thing to do with other people that involves some sort of task or goal or activity. Talk about the thing you're doing together, when you're doing it. If it feels okay, maybe introduce one or two of your own relatable-to-the-activity experiences in the process. See who picks up on it. Ask the people who pick up on it genuinely interested questions in response. This is what we awkward people call: engineering a conversation. It is the way, I am told, humans make connections with other humans. I have seen it work in my own life.
Depending on where you live and your ability level and skill set, I bet you have some options! You could seek out an open board game night, pub quiz session, knitting/quilting circle, or mutual aid meetup that's looking for volunteers. Especially look for social activities with strangers that involve a dedicated, pre-prescribed activity (such as a hiking or mall-walking group, stuffing envelopes for a political candidate or cause you care about, planting trees at your local park, or tasting tea/wine/beer/etc.). (Somebody is going to say join a ballroom dancing club or suchlike; I am personally terrified of this, but if you have a higher tolerance for strangers touching you and fewer than two left feet: it's literally an option. Line-dancing, on the other hand ... absofuckinglutely.)
Even if what's available in your area isn't your precise and specific interest, it might be worthwhile to check out something you are decidedly meh about -- you might not be the only meh person there. You can bond over shit that's boring or shitty with other people who find it boring or shitty! Some of my best friends, arguably my very best friends, came out of experiences we mutually loathed or found at least moderately and mutually miserable.
Consider especially finding an activity where you yourself are the manager of operations and/or have a designated task to take care of that is unique to your position! This doesn't have to be complicated or skill-dependent; can you become a voter registrar in your area? Well, bam! You've got paperwork people have to fill out and a good reason to jibber-jabber with folks who have to ask you the questions. Other ideas: join your local neighborhood association board, become a notary public, or see if your local pet rescue is looking for intake line volunteers. Do you have a trustworthy, especially outgoing friend who might agree to play "social glue" for you a couple of times at their activity-centric events? Make it explicit! Ask them if they'll play friendly wing-person for you at their D&D game, fantasy sports league, or some such.
Alternately: Do you have a unique and fun and shareable skillset you can share with others? Are you pretty good at drawing, programming? Simply a font of endless Merlin or NFL or Real Housewives knowledge? You might start a local Discord or other online social group to discuss and share your interests, then move it to the real world in a few weeks once folks get comfortable. You get the idea.
Most of all: Look for stuff that has more-than-just-talking opportunities available outside the designated group jam for you to maintain connections. Perhaps a group chat, a Discord, a Slack, what-have-you, where you can take more time to consider and draft your responses and posts? Connections with humans get made a thousand ways, and talking raw-dog with strangers is but one.
It takes a true social unicorn to be simply good at talking and only talking to other people. There are some of these one-horned wonders out there, to be sure — but let me assure you that the vast majority of folks want to be accepted and seen just as much as you do, and they're staring at the ceiling at night thinking just as much (more, probably) about all the weird, wonky shit they themselves threw at you than they are anything you ever said to them.
#good advice#good advice interlude#socializing#awkward#introvert problems#shy#shyness#get out there we're all fucking squares
