#Not two things I expected to tag in the same post

With all due respect sir, and I know you've been through a hell of a lot of elections, the politics of this country have been shifting more right wing for a couple of years now and I doubt .4% of people voting for a third party would have made a fucking difference when no one in this country even listens to the popular vote

I expected that many would miss the point of the post I made—even though I literally said in the post "The point wasn't to get votes for a third party candidate"—screenshot in case you missed it:

It is voter suppression. It is always voter suppression. That was the point. It is to keep people home. The third party candidates, the fantasy candidates ("How can you vote for x candidate when theoretical y candidate who isn't in this election is so much more liberal?!"), that's the distraction. It is always about getting voters to stay home and not cast a vote. I don't know how I can make that any clearer.

Even in cases where a specific third party candidate's vote total might have made the difference (in 2000 Bush won Florida by 537 votes while Ralph Nader, many of whose voters were more allied with Gore than Bush, received 97,421 votes), the answer is never "Why did you vote for a third party candidate?", it's "Why didn't more Floridians come out to vote?" After all, with many of those third party voters, IF they were forced to choose between two candidates only, maybe they wouldn't have voted at all, so it wouldn't have made a difference. In this year's election, most third party votes went to candidates that leaned conservative, so if they weren't there, maybe Trump gets more votes in those states, not fewer.

No, listen, I don't know how to make this clearer: THE PROPAGANDA IS TO GET VOTERS NOT TO VOTE. It is ALWAYS to get voters not to vote. How they do it changes with the election, but the goal is always to get voters to stay home.

Also, in case you think I'm blaming Gen-Z, I was hoping referring to the history would set the concern aside (they weren't there in 2000). It's not a generation's fault. It is simply failing to recognize propaganda and what it is ultimately trying to get you to do. In this case, it's the same thing every time: to not vote. The liberals vs. ultra-liberals thing is a fiction to drive down liberal turnout.

I know it's been said many times, but if voting weren't important, Republicans wouldn't care about it. Truly, when they don't care about voting, that's the time to truly be frightened, because it means at that point voting is no longer relevant to the process.

Now you were back in your little cabin in the woods. You had even lit a fire and dragged your mattress with its nesting contents into the small living room to get properly cozy. You sighed as you buried your face into the nest and relaxed further into the arrangement of blankets, pillows and dirty laundry.

Despite yourself, your omega whined and paced. She wanted their scent here too. You hadn't smelt them when they were up close because of the cotton up your nose but just that whiff on the wind had begun the beginning of the end.

You whined into the sheets and buried further into them. The idea of one of them surviving the traps sounded better with each passing moment. A feral alpha that was strong enough to withstand your defenses and persistent enough to find you. The thought made your chest warm and small purrs leave you.

"She has us running in fuckin' circles Cap," Gaz said to Price before he even noticed that he was upside down. "Trap get you?" He asked as if it wasn't obvious.

"Gettin' cheeky are you?" Price shot back and Gaz grinned as he grabbed the knife off the forest floor and walked towards his Captain.

"Nah, just takin' the piss Cap'n," He walked to the rope keeping him upside down and cut it. Price was fine, he was only a few feet off the ground. 

"Do you know where Soap and Ghost are?" Price asked as he put his beanie back on and took the combat knife back from Gaz.

"I found Ghost, he's stuck in a pit. And I don't know- oh speak of the devil and he shall come!" 

Soap emerged from the bushes, his hair singed at the ends and soot on his face. "Damn omega nearly blew me up!" He cursed and Gaz snorted which got him a dirty look. "Awa an bile yer head," Soap huffed and Price chuckled. "Where's LT?"

"In a pit." Price and Gaz responded at the same time. Soap let out an amused huff.

"So how are we gonnae get 'im out?" Asked the Scot and Gaz nodded to the rope.

"Reduce, reuse, recycle right?"

"Always ken ye were some kind o' hippie."

Ghost looked up into the snowing sky when he heard the rustle of bushes. A deer? A bunny? Maybe it was the omega coming to put a bullet through his head. "Oi, don't fall in too you idiot!" Gaz barked and Ghost laughed silently.

"You still alive in there Ghost?" Gaz asked as he peered his head into the hole.

"Unfortunately," Ghost replied and Gaz rolled his eyes.

"He's fine. Tie the rope to that tree."

After a few minutes the rope was tossed down and Ghost climbed up with a grunt. "My ankle is throbbin'," he grumbled to himself. It wasn't going to stop him or really slow him down significantly but it was a pride thing really. "Let's go get that 'mega."

Words spoken so easily are not actions done with ease.

They should've expected that it wouldn't be easy but some part of them hoped that you hadn't set up more traps. Gaz cursed as he fell into a pit and screamed, "Fuck!"

Price rushed over and his eyes darkened at the sight before him. This pit was not like Ghosts, instead it had sharpened sticks waiting for whoever was unlucky enough to fall in. Ghost pulled Gaz out, "You broken?" Price asked immediately even as he fussed over the puncture wound in Gaz's thigh.

"Negative," Gaz grunted. Ghost looked down at the two of them, a storm brewing in his dark brown eyes. "I'll be fine, just need to patch it up."

Price couldn't help the growl that left him when Gaz tried to stand. "No, you're gonna sit back down and we're gonna make camp."

You peaked outside as night fell and took in a deep breath then recoiled when you smelt them on the wind. They're closer warned your omega even as heat built up in your abdomen. 

You close the door quickly and wiped away the cold sweat. The near beckoned to you and you went back in, a dull throb from your clit making it harder to relax this time. 

You hissed defiantly and tried to ignore it until it became near painful. You growled to yourself and shoved your hand down your pants, no preamble or work up. Your body wanted an orgasm? You could give it an orgasm.

You were completely soaked, your slick coated your thighs and panties as you circled your puffy clit and bit down on your lower lip at the shocks of pleasure. Your mind wandered to territory where it shouldn't. It’s WIP Wednesday! By popular demand, this week’s theme is “accidental unaccompanied minor acquisition". Honestly looking at the list it's more like "accidental Kon acquisition", but Match is in the mix a few times and also a very confused entirety of Young Justice gets accidentally acquired by a Kon, sooo . . . variety! Totes there's variety!!

Look, to be clear: I regret nothing.

Here’s how it works:

I will post the file names of five WIPs, and will also post a snippet of new content from one of them to get the ball rolling.

Send me an ask with the name of one of the listed WIPs and I will write you a minimum of three sentences in that WIP in response!

Thirteen’s jaw tightens, his fingers digging into his arms. Match eyes Superman much more sourly than he’d let himself eye any normal handler. At least the Agenda’s handlers are easier to tolerate, though. They at least bother to make sense. Even when they’re being subjective instead of objective, at least their motivations and reasons for that make sense in some way. 

Absolutely nothing about Superman makes sense. 

The dog makes a wuffing noise and wags its tail. Match doesn’t think about how Superman gave him these stupid clothes to wear, same as he gave the dog its little cape and collar. And tried to name him, even, which is something else someone would do to a dog. Just–pick the thing up and take it home and call it whatever you felt like, no matter what it’d answered to before. 

Technically Superman accepted an alternative suggestion to his first thought, but he still insisted on pushing a “proper” name on him anyway. Two of them, technically, since he picked a human one too–and that one he did pick out, first and last. 

Match had felt–strange, when he’d thought about the fact that Superman had given Thirteen a name. Now that he’s done the same thing to him, though, it seems less like something that’s been “given” and more like something that’s been assigned. Which is–fine, obviously. He knows how to accept an assignment, one way or the other. 

But it’s . . . 

He doesn’t know why he thought “but”, there. Superman owns him now, and Superman’s asserting that ownership. That’s all. Nothing else. 

And Match knows how to perform to expectation.

So I put this poll out there a few weeks ago, and I sort of processed the tags and comments as they came in, but I hadn't revisit it after the deadline passed. (Thank you everyone who contributed, either by vote or commentary!)

What I've come away with here is that... there are no magic answers, and a fair number of people are wrestling with the same worries as me. Sad but also reassuring to know I'm not the only one in this boat. :P The three leading answers are "using or planning to use a pen name," "don't expect to be famous enough for it to matter," and, "I DON'T talk about my original writing here."

And now I'm gonna muse out loud about my own perspective. The third of the above options is my current answer, and unfortunately the other two don't really fit my needs, because

a pen name that could be linked to this blog is arguably MORE revealing of private info than one that links to my real life - knowing my real name wouldn't give you access to my dumb fandom opinions and life complaints over the past 6-7 years

there is, for better or for worse, a little Catherine de Burgh voice in my head insisting that if I ever DO write a novel I shall be proficient. I admit it's hubristic but I want to plan for success here xP

And the dilemma that I'm running into, when I think about this, basically is:

On the one hand, if I got seriously into original writing and posted it on here, and then it became successful, there could be an easy bridge for anyone to make between Public-Facing Professional Author Me and Anonymous Private Fandom Me AND whatever I've dropped about IRL Me in the safety of anonymity. This is the kind of thing the internet has made me paranoid about, not for any specific reason, but because I believe separation of spheres is a good thing and there should be some barriers between different parts of my llife.

On the other hand, I would love to talk about my abandoned, languishing writing ideas on here, because I've learned how good a mutual circle is for my fanfiction writing motivation, and while I do technically have an irl writing group right now it's... not the same as Tumblr would be. And if the options are "never finish anything because I'm avoiding community support" or "deal with the potential consequences of potential success after having written something..." Well. The pros of the writeblr approach are clear.

Honestly, the answer might be a sideblog! There might be a way to just... not separate my IDs on here entirely, but an extra step or two of obscurity so it would be harder for someone to make the connection from the outside. I've seen how that can work for other people, and it might be the best answer for me... I'd have to think through the logistics and the ins and outs first.

question I've been mulling over for a while, because the #1 reason I don't talk about original writing ideas on here is that I wouldn't want a future professional/public identity (real name or otherwise) to be connected to my personal/for-fun Tumblr identity

Sorry to derail, but while I am not Buddhist, I am Australian, and I can tell you that guy isn't just a Bodhisattva, he's a Bunnings worker as well.

For those who don't know, Bunnings is a hardware and garden supplies store chain in Australia, and not an obscure one either - this is *The* Australian Hardware and Garden Supplies Store.

If you've ever seen the Bluey episode Hammerbarn, this is the store it's based on.

The immediate tell is the uniform - a dark green apron over a red shirt. Sure, there's usually the Bunnings logo on the chest, but it's otherwise spot on.

This also gives a bit more context for the Tiktok because, well, Bunnings is not a little store.

Bunnings stores are physically massive- pallets of equipment, huge displays of outdoor furniture, a whole outdoors area that contains a ton of plants and pots - the fact that our Bunnings worker is able to tell the customer exactly where to find that very specific type of screw is not just weird, but *extremely* weird, right off the bat.

Second, while not exactly most relevant to the Tiktok directly, the idea that an enlightened person that stayed on Earth in hopes to help people out like a Bodhisattva would work at a Bunnings actually makes a lot of sense - even outside of the customer service stuff, Bunnings is often the host of what's known as a Sausage Sizzle - it's a type of fundraiser where you sell sausages in bread with optional tomato sauce(ketchup) and onion. That would be an easy way to donate to charity and also find out about causes that need help.

I think the last point I have to say in regards to this is best illustrated by one of Bunnings own ads (Note: this is a Christmas and, so the logo's a bit different than normal, but otherwise is a standard Bunnings ad)

Why couldn’t I get into something normal, or at least something with consistent canon? Now I am digging into depths of Whoniverse (and we all know the canon doesn’t exist (it is what you want it to be (a bit like Schrödinger’s canon: it both exists and does not, and a bit like a Young Experiment, different when observed, and in 3 places at the same time))); and I am studying Arthurian legends – where every source gives you different facts. And I’m trying to make sense out of it. And create for those universes. It’s fun. And the greatest torture.

More people on this site need to pick tumblr themes with a search bar on them. I'm sure plenty of people have picked ones without one for a reason, but I'm sure there are also people who don't realize that's an option or how valuable it is, particularly in terms of accessibility.

I know there are fewer options for already made and free themes when looking for ones that have a search bar (though in my opinion the ones that are there look fine), but I'd rather have a less pretty tumblr theme that's at least accessible than a pretty one where visitors (and I) can't find anything.
