Hii, first of all, i love your writing š and I hope you're doing well.
How do you think the bros would react watching the movie Se7en?
I think it would be interesting to see their reactions since the theme surrounds the seven deadly sins.
a/n: I love this movie! I re-watched while I worked on this since it's been a while. I wrote the blurbs in order of the sins as they're portrayed in the film.
ā¤ watching the movie se7en | the demon brothers
1k words | x gn!reader | nsfw | violence and dark/disturbing themes, demons thinking about demon things, movie spoilers
BEELZEBUB | the gluttony scene
Any other time, he'd be joking that if he had to die, he wants to die eating. He understands that now's probably not the best time to tell you that.
He feels a bit sad for some reason. He's not sure if it's the poor bloke's death on screen or the movie's gritty atmosphere in general.
Ravenous hunger has its downsides, but most of the time he enjoys eating food. He can understand why being forced to eat would be emotional and literal torture for someone.
He knows he could eat that much pasta without breaking a sweat, but he doubts it would be comforting to you so he doesn't say it out loud.
He wonders how much he'd have to eat for his body to break down in protest of finally being too full, but he keeps that to himself too.
MAMMON | the greed scene
It's not a horror movie but the dark vibe still gives him the creeps.
He hasn't had to look away (yet) but he tucks you closer to his side so you can cuddle. You can hide your face in his chest for the gross parts if they bother you, he wonāt tease you.
He sorta gets an inkling about the greed motifā something about a scummy lawyer and money trading hands is his first guess about why this guy was targeted.
Eh, close enough.
There are a lotta ways to kill someone with greed without actually killing them, yāknow.
(He doesnāt wanna talk about āem though. He doesnāt want you to think badly of him.)
BELPHEGOR | the sloth scene
What the actual fuck.
He was feeling a bit sleepy watching the movie up to this point, but he's not anymore.
He understands the interpretation of his sin, but he's surprised to see such an ugly version of it in a human world movie like this.
If he senses that you're uncomfortable, he tries to distract you until the scene ends.
Now seems like a great time to pause the movie so you can both get up and get a drink, or stretchāor maybe go for a nap if you're tired and don't want to finish it right now.
(He's going to make sure you don't have bad dreams after this.)
ASMODEUS | the lust scene
He's had custom sex toys made before, but something like this? Yeesh.
Literally fucking someone to death seems so brutal, so unromantic. This isn't how he would do it, but he doesn't tell you that; he doesn't want to scare you.
(If he had to kill someone using his sin, he'd fuck them before ripping them open from stomach to sternum.)
(If he had to kill you with his sin, heād make love to you until you eventually fall asleep. Your death will be instant and painless before he cuts out your heart and eats it.)
He notices that this part of the movie made you squirm in your seat more than the others so far.
Maybe a warm bath and cuddling in his bed will help you relax once the movie's over. Heās suddenly overcome with the urge to hold you.
LUCIFER | the pride scene
It feels anti-climactic compared to some of the other portrayals of sin so far, but he appreciates the simplicity. He was afraid it would be needlessly gruesome like the others.
Pride is insidious, the mother of all sins, the first deadly bloom that causes all others to fester and rot on the vine.
He canāt help the way his mind wanders after this. As an angel, he tried to resist sin. As a demon, he embraces it. Humans are weak and he knows for many, pride is their downfall.
You might not believe you could be pushed to make such a fatal choice, but Lucifer senses the way your own blend of pride lingers within you too.
He keeps silent about those thoughts and he wraps his arm around you for the rest of the film.
LEVIATHAN | the envy scene
Heās unusually quiet. He doesnāt complain or whine about how boring it is, and he doesnāt reach for his handheld either. Sometimes he looks puzzled by whatās on screen, and other times he seems contemplative.
Heās a little surprised by the ending. Speechless almost. He understands envy, but to do all this?
And the part with the wife, well...he thinks it's just a bit of an overreaction, don't you?
He canāt help but glance at you once the movie's over. He thinks about life before you and life with you now; he can't imagine life without you in it anymore.
Would he be capable of that type of jealousy if you didn't choose him? If he had to watch someone else live their own happily ever after with you while he suffered alone?
Huh.
When the movie ends, he distracts you with an impromptu game night in his room and he cuddles with you in his tub after.
His tail curls around your leg as you drift off to sleep, and he realizes he'd do so much worse just to keep you by his side.
SATAN | the wrath scene
For the most part, he's been less interested in the portrayal of sins. He's totally wrapped up in the mystery aspect of the movie instead.
Throughout the entire film, he's muttered under his breath about certain things he noticed or his guess about what might happen next.
(Heās read all the books mentioned in the library scene too.)
He figured that the cop with the short fuse was going to be involved somehow with wrath. He actually thought the character was a bit annoying.
He does sympathize with the cop's behaviour at the endāall he has to do is think of someone hurting you and it makes him seethe with rage.
The reveal about the wife caught him completely off-guard but thinking about it later, it seems so obvious.

I watched it š¤šš¢šā¤ļøšš§”
so good! so cute!!! spoilers below the cut ā
soooooo I really really really enjoyed how much effort they put into making them like sad about their circumstances, the reality of it all, being a mutant and wanting to be accepted by humans,
Splinter not being a human to begin with but just a rat and quite frankly traumatized by humans all his life so very distrustful and doesnāt want his sons going through that or getting killed, and what tops the cake is that he actually tried to go out on his own with the tots, only to be instantly turned on, which just solidified the fear! even though he wasnāt just a rat anymore he was still cast out, still shunned!
but the turtles were too young to really remember that so they had endless hope, at least Mikey, Donnie, and Raph, kinda sorta Leo especially when April came onto the scene š¤
WHICH SPEAKING OF THAT! Idk how I feel, super cute, Leo liking April instantly reminded me so much of 2k12 Donnie maybe a less intense version, all the scenes where romance was implied wasnāt so heavy (maybe slightly cringe) but still had me smiling so I guess Iām for it????? Still need to think on it more, overall my thoughts are : cute āØ Leo was just being so cute ļæ½ļæ½
THE BROTHERS WERE DRAGGING HIM OUT THO, like practically the whole first half of the movie, which is typical for tmnt, but gah damn š it was so apparent when just Donnie, Mikey, and Raph would group up/link up, because Leo would constantly āratā them out to the rat! Super different vibes from rise!leo for sure, that was kinda switched where Mikey was the one who couldnāt really lieā¦ and it wasnāt about lying per say, just Leo being a pleaser? or a good kid? or wanting to do the right thing??? maybe thatās all the same thing as not wanting to lie š
anyhow, my favorite part had to be the very first fight scene the bros go into! Leo springing into action, being the one to propel his brothers into danger all because he wanted to help April (again so cute) get her scooter back! Technically their fault too! Anyhow they were getting whooped but also holding their own simultaneously, and just thinking quickly on their feet and helping each other out, it was all pretty intense and very stressful like where Mikey almost got run over twice šØ I was like oml someone do SOMETHING!!!!! Thankfully we got big bro Raph, always coming in clutch! But yeah I just really enjoyed the first fight and them coming out on top! And right after being accepted by their first human aka April OāNeil!!!!!!!!! :D
Thereās so much more to say, I could quite literally write down everything that happened in words but not gonna go there šš anyone wanna just gush about the movie?!? What was your favorite part??! What do you guys think about Leo x April???
AND THE SEQUEL WITH SHREDDER š¤©š¤©š¤©
Do we have a date yet??? Oml so flippinā excited that we have confirmed more content on the way!!!

Hi I really loved your fanfics they are so interesting and quirky! I hope you continue to write and explore those ideas and your writing in general. I can empathize with your sentiments about your dad, my father also passed away a few years ago and IK what you mean by being angry with the world and its continuous pace. I really resonate with your statement about being angry about how the world can keep moving when your father is not in it. I really love the PoTA films as I also used to watch them with my dad as well! A question I guess I have for you is if the movies could be played out differently how do you think Koba could be reformed? In other words if things were different how do you think Kobaās story could have gone? Do you think he could ever be written as a reformed character? Thank you for reading and my sentiments and condolences go out to you ā¤ļø
Hello, and thank you! Iāve really grown to love angst and romantic themes since writing PoTA fanfics so I hope to explore them in the PoTA world soon. Iām sorry about your dad too. It feels weird that things keep happening without him there, doesnāt it? I hope re-watching the PoTA movies remind you of good times with your dad as they do with me.Ā
And now for your question!Ā
If there were to be any reform in Koba, something would have to change his mind about humans. Thanks to Rise and the Firestorm book, we get a very in-depth idea of Kobaās backstory leading up to his escape in Rise. We know that Koba faced years of abuse and torture at the hands of humans which caused his deep hatred of them to begin with (which I think we can all agree is valid but still).Ā
Koba rarely encountered a friendly human during this time and when he did they didnāt stay long enough to show him kindness that could have changed his mind. Because of this, Koba has a very narrow view of humans. The āall humans are evil and dangerous and must be killedā mentality we saw in Dawn.Ā
He was willing to listen to Caesar and express his concerns to him but I donāt think this could have been enough to change Kobaās mind (like even if Malcolm and the humans never entered the forest, I do not think anything Caesar said or done would have convinced Koba otherwise).
Basically, the only way Koba could have changed his mind about humans was if one of them were to show him kindness. For example, what he were the one who got sick instead of Cornelia and Ellie helped him? It doesnāt have to be Ellie specifically, but something serious would have to happen to Koba and heās put into a vulnerable state and the only one to help him is a human for him to actually see that humans arenāt all bad.Ā
This isnāt necessarily a solid theory because, for all we know, Koba could very likely still try to kill all humans and just spare that one who helped him but this just means it would have to be more than one human involved (like maybe a few humans and some of the apes). Even if this does happen, Koba would still have to actually chose to change and do what he can to stop the war from happening.Ā
Plot-wise, I do not know how something like this would have fit in the movies but I could see it easily extending into Revelations (where Kobaās followers sort of picked up with where he left off-mainly Red, Greyā¦(other apes whoās names I canāt remember at this moment lol). Before War was released, there was some idea of bringing Koba back (that he somehow survived his fall) which could be utilized for this as well but it all depends on how much of the original plot you want to keep or change and what actually happens to Koba.
Thereās actually a really good fanfic called Dawn of War on FanFiction that explores all this beautifully. To briefly explain it with no spoilers, Koba isnāt the one who started the war but is involved (sorta) in itās creation and has a solid redemption arc. I highly recommend it if you havenāt read it!

thoughts after tbosas movie (severe waffling!! with spoilers)
FIRST OF ALL!!!! ik like being british vs american (panem was north america) has some pronounciation differences but ive been saying their names so differently!!!! like ive been using soft As for the Anus brothers but its actually Anus so thats crazy.
next its very different to how i imagined, obviously they cut out so much (which is making me Need to read the og hunger games) but without coryos constant dialogue, i think more people are gonna fall into sympathising with him.
everything was also just so much more larger, like in my head the snake tank was as big as a fish tank not like all the snakes she was gonna drop into the games. the arena was sorta smaller than i imagined. the beam that i pictured lamina on was metal not concrete/stone. marcus :((( obvs the watches changed to screens. the origin of rat poison is different.
THE PRONOUNCIAtion OF TIGRIS!!!! and grandmaam was so much kinder than how i imagined.
i sort of wish we saw coryos inner dialogue because i feel like its a bit confusing to new people without it.
also like why r they dealing with jabber jays (dr gaul does make a brief mention but that was such a small detail thats so easy to miss).
for me seeing it as a movie solidified how evil he is because how could he do nothing seeing sejanus up there likeš. VISUALLY seeing him have a STRAIGHT face during that was heartwrenching.
from the book, i thought casca was actually so weird for having such a grudge against him but i see why now. not exactly justified but given the way he is bringing more 'life' to the games when casca's actively trying to kill them is understandable. THE WAY SNOW KILLED HIM??? crazyyy. Snow Lands On Top
hunter schafer ATE!!!!! like the "you look just like your father" omgg after she told him that she always saw hate in his eyes. shes so good. also from what i remember in the book he didnt even like his father why does he want to be like him in the moviešš wish we saw his love for his mother a bit more
the way lucy's footsteps disappear LIKE BOOK CRUMBS! or like i guess it may have been mentioned in the lyrics of the folk song when she was singing but still so cool.
THE HOBB IS MASSIVE.
aLSO i think the movie goes down the route of snow being veryyy paranoid at the end. because her voice is echoing like it does at the hobb, i doubt her actual voice and singing would sound like that from the jabber jays? so was that actually her or his paranoia making things up?? yes shes actually gone (run off) but never truly gone from his life. the way he thought he shot herššš
i personally think they did love each other but snow strayed way past that line of good. dr gauls ideologies corrupted him (well like that lie about humans at their core being evil). he had his prejudices from the beginning but there were times he was good. idk he believed he was good when he was helping lucy gray but then he also had his ulterior motives for that so it made it all muddy. he says its for her but also for the money and in the end he chooses money.
anyways coriolanus snow is a bitch!!! a handsome one but still a bitch. bro went "IM SO SORRY IM SO SORRY" like what the hell u quite literally had him killed. bitchass man šššš
#the ballad of songbirds and snakes#the hunger games#coriolanus snow#lucy gray baird#i am haunted by what happened to lucy gray baird#tbosas#tigris snow#tbosas spoilers

āNight on the Galactic Railroadā ichihona
i read the novel and watched the movie recently so random thoughts below
(spoilers for NotGR too!)
OK SO uhm the way i initially delved into this was because i suddenly remembered someone online mention (VERY OFFHANDEDLY). that leo/needs trained set from āLive with Memoriesā was based off of āNight on the Galactic Railroadā.
(^ so this set)
merged with this movie poster (for the film adaption where theyre all cats).
Ramblingsā¦
of course this leads me to read the plot in its wikipedia page and. immediately find ways to apply it to my blorbos. (at this point i wasnt even sure if i remembered the book right/if this was even the right bookā¦ and im still unsure but whateverā¦) (im also bad at Media Literacy).
so i settled on ichihona to be giovanni and campanella. around middle school aged.
but at first, i had it in my mind that ichika -> campanella, and honami -> giovanni.
mostly because campanella drowned rushing in to save zaneli after he fell in the river, something i just felt was very Young Ichikaā¦ the impulsiveness, no hesitance to help anotherā¦
and that Young Ichika is someone honami wanted to be like. so giovanni being like Scorpio, wishing for a chance to spread happiness for the sake of others (like ichika)ā¦
but i think āichika being campanella and honami being giovanniā didnt fit as well because giovanni was the one seen to be alone, while campanella was surrounded by friends and did nothing when they teased giovanni.
so once i swapped them around (ichika being giovanni, honami being campanella), i started having more ideas andā¦ interpretations??
ok first off. campanella is likened to scorpio, wanting to (and unlike scorpio, somewhat achieving) āsave othersā and āspreading happinessā. which i think tied nicely to what honami does in middle school, trying to be there for everyone, be an ear to talk/vent to and generally trying to help others.
ALSO GUESS WHOS A SCORPIO (honami)
meanwhile while giovanni and campanella are friends, campanella doesnt really do anything while hes teased by his classmates, just looking back with sympathy. something about how honami sort ofā¦ āchoseā (ok, was sort of ābullied/threatenedā into choosing) her classmates over ichika.
also i like the scene at the very end of the book, where giovanni stands on the riverbank after hearing the news of campanellaās disappearance/death. he looks to the distance while everyone wonders where campanella went, thinking āi know where he went. he went to the edge of the universe. i know, because we went there together.ā
im just thinking that while (giovanni/ichika) thinks that, the galaxy can be seen, yes, but also the moon (its likeā¦ ~7pm? around the end of summer so its plausible the moon could be low enough to just be seen over the river), with like, honami (in that sorta transparent where theyre not actually there thing), back turned. yknow, since āmochizukiā has the character for moon.
ALSO THE HORRIBLE SAD IRONY OF CAMPANELLA DROWNING, AND HONAMIāS SPECIALTY BEING SWIMMINGā¦
the whole āpraying like scorpio to serve others in the next lifeā thing is. uoorhg. i feel like something can be said about how honami was always helping others, but no one really knew how it wasā¦ like? to be like honami, with her selfishness and fear of being bullied, cast out, left behindā¦ etcā¦
the wikipedia pointed out that a sort of āfocusā in the story was about āgiving your life in service for othersā and uoroogh. are you getting meā¦ (it can work both ways i think, honami and ichika).
also campanella mentioned liking apples once (1 time) and of course like the loser i am i locked in like HONAMI! hes also knowledgable about flowers which is also partially why i initially saw him as ichika
also with giovanni, how hes left alone in the end.
(which while it fits ichika, now im thinking of a scenario where its saki as giovanniā¦ i dont think itll work out as well as ichika though)
i might add more to these ramblingsā¦ these are just my initial word dumps.
#my art#prsk#Night on the Galactic Railroad#project sekai#mochizuki honami#hoshino ichika#honami mochizuki#ichika hoshino#ichihona#my ramblings get kind of.. more random#im tired i basically drew this as soon as i read the wikipedia page#its almost 1am too and i Just Finished watching the movie#might add more thoughts but really im just delusional#go read NotGR though!! its a nice read.#āwhat kind of cat would honami beā i ask#my friend with no hesitation āa calicoā#alrighty then!

my review of saiki k (includes spoilers):
a lot of fun!! psychic and aspec little guy who keeps getting into fuckass situations. he is absolutely terrible at acknowledging he has friends and his own kindness BUT HE IS (i did tear up a little at the volcano reveal. idk why. i did though)!!!!! and bribable with coffee jelly. hes so real. hes just like me fr. i too would teleport to texas or explode a random nearby object upon seeing an insect if i had the ability to do so.
thereās a good supporting cast, i like hairo and kaido. i liked meraās first appearance (again showed saikiās kindness!!!) but i think they took it a little far after that, but i guess thats just how this sort of show goes. there werent any characters i couldnt stand though uh. whatsisname . whatsernames brother (āwhatsername??? shes the main ālove interestā ???ā i know. (none of the love interests are actually love interests. but they dont know that. remember i mentioned aspec? yeah they dont budge on that. ever. itās great. itās a nice change. saiki never shows any interest in any of them. tbf he doesnt show any interest in anyone. idgaf. he hangs out with them like theyre his friends. i mentioned he keeps ending up in fuckass situations this includes walking home with his friends daily). anyway whatsisname was a creep and so was that other one (the spirit medium. im so bad with names sorry. im like this for all names ever).
BUT IT REALLY HELPS THAT OUR MAIN CHARACTER IS AROACE AND HAS A GOOD HEAD ON HIS SHOULDERS. and knows everyoneās true intentions.
what i mean to say is he is immune to all of their bullshit. ALL of THEIR BULLSHIT. oh except for kusukeās. he did piss me off a little. a lot. saiki i wont snitch if you explode his ass. i wont tell anyone. you can do it. just say you saw a bug.
i like how they acknowledged things you dont usually think about with psychics, like only buying shitty games and watching shitty movies no ones played or watched so you cant get spoiled via telepathy. or admiring the average, since you have to put in effort to fit in. that sorta thing.
i loved how they treated the 4th wall (not so much a wall but more,,, a translucent screen. and itās not connected to saikiās powers either, though most of the time it is him a lot of the cast acknowledges it in some way).
thereās some jokes made in bad taste but theyre far outweighed by the good ones.
itās a comedy so if youre looking for like, emotional secret psychic power reveals. dont go here. it doesnt happen. dont bank on it. luckily it doesnt often do fakeouts either, so itās not frustrating.
i recommend it !!! i rate it.., mmmmmm 7.26/10
(if they followed through on their fakeout ending it wouldve ended up about a 3/10 though i wouldve been so mad)
(and just a little housekeeping: i watched it on netflix australia in the jp dub. it doesnt have english dub beyond the first season, and the english subtitles dont match up to the dub anyway)

I didn't like Scott Pilgrim Takes Off all that much. I feel like elucidating on why, a little bit. so. Anyway.
First, letterboxd review I wrote within a few hours of finishing the show (read this first please):
So, I read all of the comic (finally) prior to watching Takes Off. Having seen the movie several times before, I found the comic interesting in how it develops its characters further over a longer timeframe and ties up a few loose ends that the movie sort of left open in weird ways that don't make sense. Ramona has more agency, Knives shows more maturity, Scott and Ramona are more explicitly on equal footing and make for better foils for each other in the comic than in the movie. Scott regrets his life choices and runs away for a while. Ramona regrets her life choices and also runs away. They both come back and beat up Gideon together with, y'know, mutual agreement that they both kinda equally suck and deserve each other and are going to both try to get better for themselves and one another and it's fine
It's not like, groundbreaking feminist storytelling, but it sure is a lot MORE gender equal than the movie which just goes like. Ramona is mind controlled! Scott must save her! Scott beats up Gideon sorta unilaterally (with a little bit of help) and then gets Ramona because he does! It's okay. It's fine. I mean, both the movie and the comic are fine. The movie is a hyperinventive visual feast and a stellar adaptation as far as faithfully replicating its source material in the target medium. I love it. Anyway.
Both the comic and the movie are fairly complete stories which really don't need more elaborating on. They're done. They exist. People either like them, or hate them, and have been discoursing on them for years. People discuss how bad of a person Scott is or isn't, or how transgender of a reading you can apply or not apply to Scott.
(I mean, you can! You're allowed to!)
It's all well-worn. And stuff. I don't know that Scott Pilgrim is a trans girl. I mean, it's plausible fanfiction. You can do it if you like. I wish that Takes Off had played with that idea, instead of what it did do, or, in addition to what it did do? And what it did do is just. Weh?
Weh.
Okay where do I start. Um.
spoilers for Takes Off below this point
Takes Off starts by taking Scott out of the picture. He is assumedly presumably made dead. Coined. Whoo.
Okay so obviously Scott isn't actually dead, he comes back later, but him being presumed dead for a bit does open the door to the rest of the cast to get some attention. Which you'd think would be good. Alright. So, we have Matthew Patel, still here. He's an incel, it turns out. Beats Gideon in a fight being like "man I got the bigger dick here." Wins totally! Okay! The league of evil exes is all either like "wow good going Matt" or "man screw this shit" and leaves. That's amusing for a minute.
Roxy shows up for an episode, fights Ramona, and is like "YOU LEFT ME RAMMY! I HATE YOU!" And we get some delicious flashbackiness to their relationship, and they kinda reconcile. Then Roxy kisses Kim, and is like "nah I don't care Kim" and dips. Yay.
The fight between Ramona and Roxy is well animated and fun to watch. I enjoyed it. It's alright.
What else... Um, Gideon has a backstory! Gideon isn't even his real name! And he's become the mega incel that he becomes because he got rejected by some girl in high school and this turned into his supervillain origin story. Okay
Lucas Lee does skateboarding and skateboards some paparazzosi to coindeath! Go him! That is genuinely a fun sequence and I enjoyed it, I guess
Wallace Wells seduces Todd Ingram and they have a lot of hot gay vegan sex! He and Envy Adams sorta fight about it! How wacky! Okay
The Katayanagi Twins get some speaking lines in this show! Their robot (which appeared in the comic but not the movie if I remember right) is around. Um.
Julie! Julie is an old school friend of Gideon. She lets him stay at her house. Gideon/Gordon and Lucas Lee do some bro shit. Cool man
All of this is like, fine, and fun, and stuff. I'm fine with it. I liked it. I enjoyed it. Oh and I guess there's a meta subplot about the Scott Pilgrim movie becoming the Scott Pilgrim movie but failing to become the Scott Pilgrim movie because the actors keep having too many video game fights on the movie set
Okay so this is all stuff that Ramona finds out or sorta bumbles into while looking for Scott, who she's surmised has disappeared and is not actually dead. Of course, Scott is not actually dead. He's just been kidnapped and displaced in time by an older version of himself, who is having a midlife crisis because his relationship with Ramona is going badly and he wishes that it had never happened, so he kidnaps young Scott to make it so that it never happened. This does not really work. Also future Ramona does some of her own intervening in the past to counter the plot of future Scott. She has Delorean rollerblades that time travel at 88 miles per hour *rolls eyes*
Anyway, then older older Scott has a fight with younger younger Scott, future Ramona intervenes and merges with younger Ramona to become a super form Ramona and they're just like "my beloved Scott, please, just go back to the future and sort out our marriage, like a responsible adult," he is teleported back to the future, all the exes are not coinexploded, and we get a final scene implying that Julie and Gideon/Gordon are planning something which will lead into a second season, and I don't know why
Why is any of this?
I could analyze it. I could try to tell you why any of this is. But like. I really can't. I don't know.
None of this really advances or develops the characters in any way that wasn't already adequately explored in the existing material. Like, Roxy's hangup over Ramona is fleshed out a bit more, sure, and that's the part of the show I really liked, but... is there anything to that? Does it add anything to Roxy's character that we didn't already know? Not really. We could already pretty easily infer from the comics that Ramona left Roxy, just like she left all her exes, and that Roxy is mad about it. Is it nice that they talk about it? I guess. Sure. It's nice to have a version of that conversation without Scott being the third wheel. But does it meaningfully change her character?
...No
And this is the same for all the characters. Our understanding of Matthew Patel and Gideon Graves is not particularly deepened by their incel dickmeasuring fight, or Gideon's origin story about getting rejected in high school. Our understanding of Lucas Lee is not especially enhanced by the newly revealed detail that he's a headache for his agent because of his reckless wild free devil may care skater dude attitude causing PR risks. Our understanding of Wallace Wells is not amazingly additioned by seeing him seduce Todd Ingram and piss off Envy Adams. Our understanding of Knives doesn't change when she learns how to play music and gets along with Kim and Stephen... And such and so forth.
And our understanding of Scott does not meaningfully change, either. There's really no radically new character interpretation to be drawn from "Scott divorces Ramona and then tries to undo his past". That's just kind of a thing you'd figure he'd do. And of course Ramona would try to set him straight! And look for him! And. Yeah
So yeah, Takes Off feels like, almost, the definition of that phrase that Dan Olson used in that one video
"No meaning, only lore."
I cannot fathom why this show exists other than that Netflix wanted a Scott Pilgrim show, and Bryan Lee O'Malley decided to pitch one because he's sure as hell not got any other big hit comics being cross-media franchises right now, and the plot that ended up being there feels like his end of the entire writing process was spent wracking his brain, fighting for his life to come up with a reason, any reason, to write more of fucking Scott Pilgrim
And the best he could come up with was, I guess, Scott has a midlife crisis, and also more superfluous character detail, and the fanservice angle of getting to see Ramona fight Roxy, or Gideon fight Matthew, or Lucas Lee skateboard more
I had a lot of fun seeing all that but I don't know why I watched it. I don't know who wanted this. And I definitely don't know who wants a second season of this. Who would want more of this? The season we do have was already grasping for straws to do more with this setting and these characters as it was. What would they even do?
Anyway. If I was gonna rewrite this and write this smarter. I'd probably tell y'all about the moment when Young Neil is trying to write a screenplay, and some mysterious figure (later revealed to be future Ramona) shows up in his room and types up the screenplay for the Scott Pilgrim movie for him. And then he wakes up, the screenplay is on his desk, and he's like "WHOA I don't remember writing this! I totally wrote this!"
And I'd say, if I were trying to be smart and write some smart video essay analogy in a better more polished review, that Takes Off feels like Bryan Lee O'Malley wished that the script for the show would similarly emerge fully formed from nowhere from the future for him.
Or something.
Anyway, thanks for reading this impromptu, review rant something. If you liked whatever this was, and want to see us write more, better things, then, giving us money would be cool.

currently reading this new review on 200% wolf and have a few details. spoilers(?)
so like. max is noted to be a former werewolf who vanished after almost destroying the world with bad magic. bad magic that apparently makes you powerful enough to maneuver planets and ascend spirits to their spirit home on the moon. i donāt know if theyāre implying her capability of performing said magic is diminished when she wasā i guess implied to beā defanged. which i can kinda buy based on her magic feeling more glitchy in certain clips. but it sorta raises the question what her evil motive even is for merging the earth and moon together (assuming she forces moopoo to give her her warfing powers back or something and thatās like, her evil plan. which it is but uaagh, you get what iām saying). are you like gaining more supernatural-spiritual power or something. cause weāre all bout to fucking die. (i might be a teensy bit eager to get to know her more)
also this guy describes it as an ET and shaun the sheep farmageddon esque adventure. which. might actually make sense
also also that one rock Might be specifically called the summoning rock. checks out
anyways iām rambling about fuck all iām just super hyped for this movie

Hey guys did you know im clinically insane and have multiple OMORI AUs not just swingset? Yapping below! (Spoilers for canon game sometimes i guess)
Swingset AU / SSAU / TRTT (two ropes tied together)(fic name abbreviation) wasn't even the first au I've made.
The first one i really created was ODS (Omori didn't succumb) but the original concept of that whole au is completely different to what it ended up. Originally it was Sunny surviving the bad ending but I changed it to him just remaining as a ghost that can sorta turn physical at will. No I will not make a fic of this.
The next au i can remember making (after swingset) was Kanpekikel (which i completely forgot existed until a few days ago) which is just your average hikikel au with a side of horrible parenting and lots of Kel angst. No, again, I will not write anything of this. I'm pretty sure Kanpekikel was a really early version of Daburumori without the whole double isolation for the kiddos thing.
Like a few days after i got the general idea of Wasurerumori which basically. Everyone forgets Mari and Sunny ever existed and Sunny has to navigate his new reality of "whoops guess nothing ever happened then! My friends don't know me" - again nothing planned to be written
I don't know when but i had a conversation with my friend which led to RWmori being created. Rain world/Omori au where everyone is a slugcat (but anthro. Clothes and stuff!) and deals with the Omori plot with bonus spice (Sunny is Hunter from rain world, a character that literally is terminally ill. Whoops. Sorry Sunter (the name)). I don't plan to write a fic of this one BUT I did start an animatic of it. Might finish it. We'll see.
Daburumori is my second most fleshed out au. I have some (outdated) reference sheets for the main gang (+headspace vers for Kel and Sunny) just check out the tag i guess. I will probably not write anything of it as the plot isn't really cohesive. Might make little comics though!
The next au(?) is basically more of a fic idea. I called it Fire And Ice and i might write it alongside swingset but without the usual once per week updates. It's basically just suntan with some royalty, magic and transgendering. You know me, i love suntan!
I promise not all of these aus are suntan. I PROMISE. (I might be in denial) (Sorry i love suntan sorry sorry AugghhHHHHH)
The last au i have is sporemori which is a big mess of media i like. Infections, mushrooms that really like growing in your bodies, elements from the ghibli movie 'Nausicaa and the valley of the wind' (I don't remember the name please don't attack me) and a whole lot of body horror! I've actually drawn sunny for this au but since i haven't finished anyone else's designs i won't post it unless i randomly get possessed and finish them all. I MIGHT write something for it. No promises. I tried to write something but it got a bit too messy 2k words in (and it was just like. Before the plot?)
Edit! I somehow forgot the existence of headspaced au. It's not that big of an au and it'd work more as a mod. But i cannot mod. Which is why i refuse to associate myself with this au because it's hell on earth to try to explain the lore. /Hj
Fox out ! Yay seeya

Continuing to read Frankenstein for the first time and like, while I mentioned before I've never seen any full adaptations of it, I have gathered some stuff through pop culture osmosis, and it's so wild to me how different the creature's popular depiction is from how it is in the book?
Like, for one, I've seen bits and pieces of different depictions of the story (or parodies of it or references to it), usually showing some extremely dramatic creation scene with Frankenstein shouting "IT'S ALIVE!!!" or whatever, but in the actual book, the creation is skipped. At least as far as I've read, he never fully describes the creation process, and rather than some big dramatic reaction, it's more the second he realizes his creation is alive, he's full of revulsion and just leaves.
But as for the creature itself, the first thing that stood out to me is that the creature is described as having long black hair, whereas in popular media you see the creature having a flat head with very short black hair? But even more than that--this thing TALKS. And not just like, in short sentences--he's extremely eloquent. (Though maybe he talks in other adaptations?? Again I haven't really seen a full adaptation of the story.)
I mean I guess it's not too weird that the pop culture version differs so wildly--with The Count of Monte Cristo, a lot of the adaptations (at least the English language ones) often focus heavily on Edmond Dantes's imprisonment, and then abbreviate the revenge portion as much as possible and alter it to just his straight-up killing his enemies, whereas in the novel, most of the book is about his planning extremely intricate revenge plots on his enemies without ever laying a finger on them. Then adaptations often show the revenge as being Good and Just whereas in the novel it shows that the revenge had some truly horrific consequences.
With TCoMC, my guess is pop culture changed the story because "a guy is terribly wronged and Gets Revenge via Murder" is easier to digest than everything the novel went into (and plus the runtime of a movie is not NEARLY long enough for all the stuff that happened in that book). I still hate that so many adaptations are that way, but I can at least understand how they might've wound up that way.
But man I do wonder why the heck Frankenstein's creature gets the treatment in does in pop culture??
I'm only about halfway through the book now--the creature is still telling Frankenstein his story--so I haven't seen everything yet. But man so far I just feel kinda bad for the creature as he was just sorta left to fend for himself.
No spoilers, please, as I'm still reading (and have ... somehow gone without being spoiled for this centuries-old book). Just writing out some of my observations.

Just discovered your invader Zim my hero crossover comic. What inspired the idea? Its so unique to me I'd never have thought of combining them the way you did
Hi! Iāve always been a fan of MHA and when the Invader Zim movie came out it sorta reignited my obsession for invader zim too lol. Then I guess I was just thinking of different ways to combine the two, I guess? I liked Zim and Dibs relationship but I also just really like Izuku, so I ended up with the reincarnated Dib through Izuku idea because theyāre so similar. Dib is also Quirkless and very much a nerd. Izuku is a hero nerd, combined with cryptid knowledge heād be unstoppable. Dib and Izuku combo just made sense from there.
I also thought about the lore aspects a lot. If you couldnāt tell from the comic (spoilers maybe) Dib died and Zim lived for like many many years without him. The Irkens actually killed Dib so Zim destroyed the Irkens left and set up base on earth in case any other aliens try to destroy His planet. Through him and Girs efforts, quirks were also created (because I think itās funny), but Zim forgot about the other paranormal creatures and organization that Dib was obsessed with. Those creatures also gained quirks and were able to hide better from society and kill more people.
The swollen eyeball conspiracy organization switched focus to quirks when they started to appear and then gradually transformed into the HPSC. Now that Dib is back (as Izuku) he sees the paranormal stuff has been forgotten and completely unchecked and also murdering people. However, a lot of Dibs solutions also involve murder, so his plan is to become a hero so he wonāt go to jail for dusting a vampire and so on.
Spoilers- It might take a while but Iām planning on them yk, killing the mermaid and then going home. Aizawa and Tsukauchi find the mermaid body and are confused and they get led back to the two boys. Aizawa gets the paranormal investigation for dummies speech and PowerPoint from Dib and this poor man is basically now their babysitter. He does not let them go hunting monsters by themselves at all until theyāre certified heroes. But he also teaches Izuku to fight, so thatās also cool.
Also! Since Dib is now Izuku, he absolutely doesnāt care about Bakugo anymore. This man has the Paranormal, and Heroes, AND a whole alien friend to keep him busy. He is totally over Bakugo and very annoyed he has to deal with him at school alone. Which is great when Zim ends up going to his school. Not for Bakugo, but still.
Oh gosh they havenāt even gotten to UA yet, man. But! Iām gonna have Dib be very good at inventing and MacGyver-ing stuff, so he makes weapons and gadgets to fight people and itās awesome. Even better if he uses paranormal artifacts and spells and stuff just to mess with people.
Zim on the other hand is only there to protect Dib, and becomes a slightly morally gray, maybe reluctant, hero. Bakugo absolutely disposed Zim. For many reasons. Mostly for being stronger than Bakugo. Zims weakness is water, heās got so many cool stuff in his pak to straight up murder this firecracker.
And Gir! I think him and Aizawa would get along. Aizawa becomes parent to this smol robot and itās gonna be hilarious. Everyone at UA is like Aizawa why does your class have a robot?? Heās like class pet. And walks away. The dog costume fools no one.
Anyways, this was really long but hopefully that answers your question. Itās kinda very specific niche comic that I kinda just made to mash my two fav things together? And they kinda just fit pretty well so Iām glad you liked it š„°š

So I guess you could say that I am More Than Meets the Eye because while this blog is pretty much exclusively dedicated to Skylanders, I actually have been a huge Transformers fan all along! Don't worry, im not gonna pivot the subject of this blog to TFs now, but the Transformers One Trailer came out today, and I felt like giving my 2 cents about it. Overall, I think the trailer looks ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffun! (Spoilers for the trailer below)
The big thing to remember with this, above all else is that: this is a kids movie. This is not gonna be some grand, sci-fi epic that FINALLY proves to the normies that Transformers was always good! it's gonna be a decent quality film to get the younglings interested in the series and get them to buy toys, which is really Transformers back to square one. I've heard a lot of people complaining based on the trailer at how bad the humour is and yeah, it's not that special, it definetively carries a bit of that "Uhmm, that just happened" energy But. Have you never watched a trailer for a kids movie? It's almost always a bunch of obnoxious gags taped together, while an actual synopsis of the plot is squeezed somewhere in there. And that's the kind of thing that gets kids into seats at the theater. I would know! I was a kid who was duped into watching tons of terrible movies based on these type of trailers! Not saying it's a good thing, just. It's clear that for some people, this is the first time they watched a kids movie trailer in a long while. So, moving on to the animated part of this animated movie: I think it looks quite impressive! Overall, aesthetically I really vibe with how they made this robot planet look! Maybe not so much the actual robots. The overly smooth faces and basic proportions aren't exactly how I like my Transformers to look, but I don't think they bad either. I can live with it. The thing I am REALLY excited for are the QUINTESSONS. I am so happy to see them back! I always thought that they were such a good part of the TF lore (And the superior origin story) and it's such a relief to see them used here as the main antagonistic threat! I know that at their core, they're just generic bad guys, but, in a franchise that had it's main villain be a righteous revolutionary who OOOPS! Becomes the most evil tyrant in the galaxy, I think some generic, uncomplicated baddies are welcome. And yeah, this movie still sorta does the Megatron, revolutionary backstory and im just so tired of it. It's just white noise, it's just his default backstory at this point. It's almost never expanded upon because it's just alredy there, whenever anyone decides to write their version of Megatron with their own ideas. I guess in this version everyone in the main gang is a slave worker but it doesn't really change anything. This could be a bit of a comeback for Transformers that I think Hasbro has been trying to achieve. I know we said the same thing with ROTB, but when it came to the trailers and marketing of ROTB, it was quite a mess. We didn't really know what movie we where getting up until it's release. This meanwhile is incredibly clear about what it is, and that makes me more confident in actually excited about. Also remember that Paramount is funding IDF and to pirate this movie when it comes out.

Star Trek Parents Just Donāt Understand (Part 2)
By Ames
Last week, youāll remember we covered a whole lot of parents from the classic Star Trek series and just how much they tended to ruin their kidsā lives. Well, this week A Star to Steer Her By is finishing out the topic with parental units from currently running Trek series and the Kelvin movies. Expect this one to not be nearly as far reaching, partly because SPOILERS WILL ABOUND below the cut and partly because weāve not covered much of this on the podcast yet, so frankly I donāt remember a good deal of it.
But some of our major players have or are noteworthy parents to talk about in this period of wide-screen Trek (seriously, everything looks like a movie now and itās impacting my screengrab game). Give your parents a hug for us as you see them listed below and also in probably the most spoilery episode of the podcast weāve ever recorded (discussion starts at 59:37). They only raised you from tadpoles.
(Again, some mega spoilers for Star Trek 2009, Discovery, Lower Decks, Prodigy, Strange New Worlds, and especially [seriously!] Picard are below.)
Kelvin George Kirk
George Kirk was a parent to literally newborn James for all of thirty seconds before saving his life, Winonaās life, and the lives of the crewmembers of the USS Kelvin. While we have no idea if heād have been any good at raising the youngster had he lived (apparently so since this alternate Kirk ended up being quite the ruffian compared to that walking stack of books from The Original Series), we know what he valued by his actions, his sacrifice, and his refusal to name him Tiberius.
Kelvin Sarek
In pretty much all timelines, Sarek is a bit of a hypocrite when it comes to raising a half-Vulcan, half-human son like Spock. Why he canāt get it through that Vulcan bowlcut of his that having a child with a human will dilute that cherished green blood of theirs is absolutely beyond me. I thought you hobgoblins were supposed to be logical, after all. Maybe if Amanda hadnāt blown up, things would have gone better for Quinto-Spock.
Discovery Sarek
Speaking of Sarek, in Discovery we actually see that he very much seems to prefer raising his ward Michael Burnham to raising either of his natural sons. Go figure. Apparently all his progenies had to do was follow in his footsteps, join the Vulcan Academy, and literally have a chunk of his katra from a past mindmerge-thing for daddy to love them.
Gabrielle Burnham
Michaelās relationship with her birth parents is something much more complicated. This is Discovery, after all; āItās complicatedā is the subtitle of the series! When we learn that Gabrielle is still alive, having saved Michael by becoming the Red Angel, itās a bittersweet reunion that can only be made stranger by their second reunion in the 32nd century when momma has become a space nun of some kind. As if Michael didnāt have enough of this Vulcan stuff growing up!
Voq and LāRell
On the subject of space nuns, we learn that Voq and LāRellās child Tenavik got to be raised by some time monks in the Boreth Monastery. Which, frankly, is probably the best that kid could ask for! The combative Klingon Empire was no place to raise a baby, and good on his parents for finding a child-rearing solution that, at the very least, kept him alive. Ya know, after just a little bit of faking his death. Q'apla, I guess!
Stamets and Culber
What is sweeter and purer than two gay space dads mentoring a nonbinary sorta-Trill sorta-not adolescent? I didnāt realize that Adira is supposed to be 16 when we meet them (probably because the actor was like 23), but regardless of age, they are struggling with their identity in enough ways to make a Vulcan weep, and having the support of a nurturing queer family is just what they need.
Ephaim
An easy example of a good parent from the Discovery era comes in one of the Short Treks, āEphaim and DOT.ā Sure, sheās a tardigrade and mostly just following that biological impulse to keep oneās seed alive, but she does better than a lot of other Trek parents. Go, tardigrades, go!
Raffi Musiker
Moving on to Star Trek: Picard, we see another negligent parent in the conspiracy theoryāobsessed Raffi Musiker. She might rival Worf as a parent whose absence has screwed up their kid the most, as we see that Gabriel is downright hostile to her when she tries to reconnect. And then in season 3, she yet again chooses Starfleet over her family. Perhaps weāre lucky we havenāt seen Alexander in Picard, since he and Gabriel could have some stories to tell.
Troi and Riker
Say what you will about the Troi-Riker relationship, but they seem to be doing pretty okay raising their daughter Kestra. Sheās a nifty kid with her head on straight, so they must be doing something right. Also, itās very clear throughout their appearances in Picard that these parents did everything they could to save their son Thaddeus from his mendaxic neurosclerosis, and his loss affected them in the way only losing a beloved child could.
Maurice and Yvette Picard
We were teased a bit in TNG with just enough information about Jean-Lucās upbringing to let us know his relationship with his father was strained and that with his mother was loving, but then the second season of Picard had to go spelling things out for us in ways we didnāt really need. Maurice becomes that much more terrible because he evidently did nothing when Yvette was going down a dark path. And Yvetteā¦ what the hell were the writers trying to say about Yvette? Freakinā yikes.Ā
Adam Soong
Also in season two of Picard, we get YET ANOTHER Soong ancestor for Brent Spiner to play, ya know, for reasons. Evidently all the Soongs except Data (see last weekās inclusion!) are just terrible parents because theyāre effectively just trying to prolong their own legacy instead of actually caring for the needs and wants of the child. Kore, in this case, lives a life so sheltered she canāt even go outside without bursting into flames. Much like that whole damn seasonā¦
Teresa Ramirez
We do, however, get one solid parent in season two of Picard, and thatās Teresa Ramirez, the divorced mother who Rios is totally thirsty for. Actually, we donāt see a lot of children of divorce in Star Trek, do we? As we established last week, itās far more likely to have one parent get killed off than it is to have people amicably separate because, of course, that makes for more drama. Thereās Torresās parents, and Rom and Prinadora but thatās just their Ferengi contract, and that might just be about it? Anyway, Teresaās cool.
Jean-Luc Picard and Bev Crusher
Season three, however, is just a straight up family reunion show with lots more literal family members that get introduced to boot! Somewhere after Nemesis, evidently Bev and JL got down to clown and then Bev ran away and hid the pregnancy from him for however many years this boy is old. Sure, we all agree Picard would make a father that might rival Worfās awkward sense of child neglect, but is Bev any better never telling him? Discuss amongst yourselves.
Geordi La Forge
Geordiās been busy too, cranking out at least two daughters. Like Sarekās relationship with his various kids, it seems much easier for Geordi to play favorites. Alandra is the favored daughter because she followed in his footsteps and seems like she was generally passive, while Sidney is the black sheep of the family and La Forge has trouble connecting with her because she canāt just be controlled like certain holoprograms I could name.
Carol Freeman
Letās get out of Picard and into some animated stuff. The relationship between Captain Freeman and her daughter Beckett Mariner is at the core of Lower Decks, so much so that itās kept secret from the rest of the crew for the drama of it all. Most of the show treats their relationship like ones weāve seen before in which the child lashes out because they donāt want to follow in their parentās footsteps. There is love there, but their failure to communicate does dominate.
The Diviner
In our other animated Trek, The Diviner definitely falls into that category of just the worst kind of parent because he will sacrifice Gwyn a hundred times over to get his way. He never listens to what she wants, chooses the Protostar over her, and leaves her to nearly get killed on vine planet. All this and the only reason he created her in the first place was to continue his work. Rude, bro.
Joseph MāBenga
Finally, we have Dr. MāBenga in Strange New Worlds, whose dedication to caring for his sick daughter Rukiya is admirable and incredibly sweet. Every time he reads fairy tales to her in sickbay is a beautiful little scene, and the end of āThe Elysian Kingdomā is a tear jerker that we were honestly surprised to get so early in the run of the show. I kinda hope we see more from Rukiya in future, but who knows whatās written in these fantastical pages?
ā Weāre ducking out from this family reunion before someone whips out the photo album. Catch us next time for more, and definitely keep listening to our watchthrough of Voyager over on SoundCloud or wherever you get podcasts. You can also post family in-jokes on our Facebook and Twitter, and would it hurt to call once in a while?

I feel like Miguel from Across the Spiderverse is what some might call aĀ āDesignated Villain.ā
SPOILERS FOR SPIDERVERSE
Like, from a meta-level and how he says Miles is not Spiderman, weāre supposed to root against him and be happy when Miles triumphs over him, but the movie never actually disproves Miguelās point - that averting canon events like the death of the captains and Uncle Bens is a bad thing that leads to entire realities collapsing.Ā
Itās weird, because thereās tons of stories where idealism prevails over the ultitarianism nature of villains like Miguel. But in those stories, the work is usually put in to falsify the villainsā belief. In Spiderverse, nothing is ever shown to prove Miguel wrong and weāre just left taking it on faith and an amazing soundtrack that plays when Miles triumphs over him that heās in the wrong.
I guess itās frustrating because all the bells and whistles of rebellion are there, from Spider-Punk subverting Miguelās designs and Gwen assembling a team of the original cast plus some more to help. But they never actually prove Miguel wrong, which is sorta important to do if youāre trying to go for the message of going against canon which Spiderverse is aiming for.Ā

howdy! it's day 1 of MCYT fanfic appreciation week, and i was wondering if you had any future writing projects or other ideas that you wanted an excuse to talk about :D no pressure whatsoever to answer this ask, just thought i'd reach out ā”
HI :')) this absolutely made my day to receive, and also served as reminder to me that yesterday was that events start day!!! so thank you for that!!!!
i will always always always take an excuse to talk about the fic ideas that are rotting my brain <3
I'm going to talk about 3 projects; 1) yet another DL rancher one-shot 2) my current brain rot go to: speed racer au 3) and a worm tried and true classic: gay baseball au
cut here because....i am a rambler
I'll start with what y'all are most likely to see next,,,
After the second session of Limlife came out, I wrote a little vignette from Tango's pov that included a throw-away scene from DL where someone left a golden apple on the ranchers porch in the middle of the night as an extremely un-funny joke. And that. idea has haunted me since I thought of it,,, I outlined it months and months ago though never got around to writing it... but for some reason a few days ago I opened that doc again and it just sorta. happened.
it's only about halfway done right now, but if all goes well it might be up by the end of the week :)) small preview mayhaps:
The door not yet having been opened, the possibility of what was waiting for him on the other side yawned and stretched towards endless. In a way, not knowing but speculating was worse than just opening the damn thing and facing the one singular scenario that was, but that was why he struggled to do it. Schrodingerās dangerāthis was stupid; Tango opened the door.Ā No one was there.Ā He blinked in the face of its emptiness for a moment. Of all the situations he had considered, absolutely zero of them included opening the door to nothing. The one definite thing a knock spoke to was the presence of someoneāsomething. So, what, they risked the middle of the night in peace times to come to the ranch they all loved barging into any time regardless to ding-dong ditch? That seemed, like, a gazillion times more unlikely.Ā
---
Then...the thing that is currently carving out its home in my brain...speed racer au. Tango-centric, more tango & etho angst than it is team rancher tbh.
The au is based solely on the 2008 movie speed racer, not as much the rest of the franchise! I guess /warning for speed racer spoilers, but the movie came out 16 years ago and the anime is from the 1960's...............so like.............also come on
I...have absolutely 0 clue how to describe to you the plot of speed racer. imagine you drive a race car so good and look so hot while doing it that you take down the mafia AND defeat the evil that is capitalism. That's speed racer. Like most worm aus its...not a comprehensive story. it's mainly me taking scenes from the movie that i adore and reimagining them with life series characters in those positions.
Tango is our titular character, an up and coming, widely known and celebrated automobile racer. He's the only racer not sponsored by some big company, he'd rather his palsāhis familyābe in control of his car, the Mach 5, and his racing career.
This is so so silly to try to explain you have no idea. I'm just going to say it. So when Tango was a kid, his older brother Etho died in this really dangerous unofficial non-track race thing. Two years later, theres a new racer in the league calling himself Racer X. No one knows his actual identity, and, at all times, he is wearing this. mask. thing. umm. anyway so Racer X is secretly Tango's older brother who Tango thinks is dead. And he now races under a secret identity because he is trying to take down. the fucking mafia. who own a whole bunch of racing teams and do crime and things. cause why not. Im going to stop over-explaining speed racer, just take this snippet and go:
āLook, can we cut the bullshit?āĀ If Tangoās mounting poor mood had any effect on X, he didnāt show it. He maintained the stillness of a wildlife photographer, danger not a warning to flee but more the promise of a shot worth sticking around to capture. Tango had felt studied since theyād cut the engines, since Xās head had popped up over the wheel, smirkingābut now heād felt seized.Ā āAlright.ā His mouth opened, all the energy to press on but none of the gall. As usual, heād gotten too ahead of himself; clutch pressed to the floor, shift it into first gear, every intention to move with no promise to follow through. He didnāt ease off the clutch so much as he ran away from it; heād stalled, his mouth shut dumbly.Ā There wasnāt the time to wait it out, and Tango didnāt think heād afford it to himself if there were. This moment had been promised to him since Casa Cristo began. He might not have then, but standing here now he knew it to be true. He thought X knew it, tooāthis was inevitable. He knew it like you knew you had minutes before your mom found that thing that you broke, like you knew someone was about to walk away from you for good. It was no less natural to him than knowing he was going to be a driver, no harder to glean from his future than being able to picture Jimmy by his side. He wouldnāt squander the chance because he hadnāt been adequately prepared for it to arrive.Ā Tango choked, āEtho?ā āYou think Iām your brother.ā When he said it it was a statement, not a question.Ā āArenāt you?ā
---
And lastly...gay baseball au :')) or rather, "against all odds"
yes I'm still stuck on that, YES I plan to keep writing it.
I posted a little bit ago,, beginning of January, that I wanted to post the first chapter of baseball au if possible around/on my birthday, which is the first week in March. I can't PROMISE that will happen, because I am working on grad school applications at the moment and I also. know myself. and want to have the UTMOST MAJORITY POSSIBLE of the writing done before I post it. otherwise. I won't go back. But...tentatively that is hopefully the plan <3

āWhat about you, Jim Jam?ā Jimmy frowned at Skizz, only somewhat confused and mostly sure that he shouldnāt have been. āWhat about me?ā āThe questionāwhat would you do if you werenāt doing this?ā With clarity came even more confusion. It had felt normal for the others to ponder what-ifs and other lives where they did other things, a rightness that immediately soured when the spotlight had shone on him. There were no alternate versions of Jimmy, this was the only one in existence; he was a model toy that had never made it off the drawing board, no plans for mass productionātoo little consumer interest.Ā āOhā¦I dunno.ā He thought baseball might be the only thing he was capable of, and even then that didnāt mean he was good at it. āIād never thought about it, I guess.āĀ
